My lengthy little intro is over Now, Moose, let's pass it over to you on your thoughts about the rock who has now bought the league with a flurry of partners.
I would like to hear your opinion before getting into teams and players and such like that.
I wanted to talk about league as a whole and how you feel about the future.
I'm sure it's optimistic, but I want to hear how you're feeling.
I like it a lot better.
The Rock bought it over.
I feel like Vince McMahon.
I mean, sure, he's like one of the best businessman in the world, you know? But I feel like he was kind of there for the money because he was with all over luck, which was actually Andrew Luck's dad since the league got canceled because the Corona they just completely fled the scene.
Yeah, I feel like the rock being it for, like, the people, because the rocks already he the he's everything.
A movie star pro wrestler.
I'm pretty sure most people wanna be the rock at some point, for sure, and it's a great story like he always mentions.
I know when I saw an interview with him about why he bought it, you know how the Rock played football at the University of Miami? He went to the CFL, the Canadian Football League.
If anyone doesn't know that, he got cut from the CFL, he played.
I believe one game got cut and he had e think, he said.
Eight bucks in his wallet.
So all he had was $8.
His dream just seemed to shatter, and all of a sudden he turns it around, becomes Dwayne the Rock Johnson.
So he's trying to show that no matter what, what your path, maybe if that's to the NFL, wherever that may be.
Of course, he is there to show you that he is a proven example that you don't give up on your dream even if it doesn't go right the first time.
You know, like even Moose.
You've been saying you've been looking for writing gays, been doing all these things.
People hate on the fact that doing sports media might not be a real gig.
But, you know, you don't let that hate, you know, take you down, you let it fuel you. Just like E.
I think that is that story.
It relates to a lot of us when we do try, you know, it's not about the fact that didn't work the first time.
It's how many times are you willing to ****ing go and sell? It works.
You know what I'm saying? So I feel like the rocks, the perfect person to own this league, and it's obviously not just him.
Want to highlight.
You know, the other people.
We got Danny Garcia, Gary and Cardinal.
And you know, Danny Garcia, being the first female owner of Sports League is monumental, extremely innovative.
And she's an extremely powerful woman.
So, um yeah, I think it's just an awesome pairing there myself.
I want to hear how you think it's gonna affect the impact of, you know, game play if you think it's going to attract more people, how you feel about if they should be changing things or more just working off what they do have currently.
I'm curious to how you feel about that.
I think that's the rock that will draw him like pretty much double the fan just for the rock alone.
The Rock even talked about possibly playing it again, which, I mean, sure, you may have built like a tower.
But however what he is like 50 he might break something.
If one of them, you don't think the rock would lay the wood, I think he'd go out there and just rock someone.
Still no pun intended.
He would completely run over like a little running back it It probably making one of just retire.
You could take a hit from the rock and your 56 You're probably done.
It's not even if you're physically done too.
That's a that's a message to your Like I just got rocked literally, Literally s.
How do you feel? It's gonna do you think the teams do you think gameplay? You think the way they go about the endgame interviews, all the things that we all fell in love with the XFL last year Are those things going away? Do you think that they were just really gonna build on top of that and use what was successful last year? I'm curious.
Uh, I'm gonna get a guest.
They stay with, like, most of the same roles because they actually seem like they're doing pretty good, like my favorite, if you know me.
And like the stuff I talk about to the people who are here, like the punt role was one of my favorite because, like the NFL, you could be like freaking jury Corey Bojorquez from the bills and just booted outside.
Uh, can't talk right out of balance inside of the 20 but in the X f l.
If it goes out of bounds, just bring it back to the 40.
I was going to say, I think kicking is one thing that I enjoyed.
I think also that kickoff rule where they don't get a full head of steam but instead line up in a different area of the field.
I like that, too.
I was kind of shocked that the NFL hasn't really mentioned taking that on yet because at least with all the progression with CTE, you know, with everybody's head injuries and stuff, I think that the XFL did a really good job with the kickoff rule with keeping exciting while limiting head to head collisions.
You know what I mean? Yeah, I like that a lot, too.
It seemed like it was a lot more for a player.
Safety, too, because the NFL even catch Kevin Everett like 12 14 years ago, paralyzed from that kick off it.
Yeah, I mean, it's inevitable.
It's a context for, but really just trying to think of how we can limit opportunities, that people are just flying at each other and just, you know, I think it's a good idea, because with the XFL, why did it fail in 2001? It's because it had way too much.
Violence wasn't too focused on the athleticism more focused on the entertainment aspect.
That's when it really came out the first time in flopped.
Then you bring it out last year and you could see that its football, like that's where it starts, is its football.
And then we add entertainment aspects that draw you in in a different way than the NFL does.
But I think in 2001 especially with all the research I did since I wasn't necessarily a fan or really tuning into the XFL way back in 2001 it flopped so quickly because of the fact that there was so many mistakes.
And and Vince McMahon And he sent a cameraman into the cheerleader's locker room for a halftime stunt, trying try and get viewership up like Come on and now, especially in 2020 that **** would not fly.
So it's less about how can I do outlandish, stupid stuff to try and get viewership and more of how do we create ah secondary product to the NFL that might have more entertainment with the on field interviews and stuff like that.
But you know the fact that it's a funnel to the NFL? Let's talk about that because I know that's what we're gonna highlight players in a second.
But there was a lot of players from the XFL when that folded, that's signed two NFL teams.
Which was the point, right? Yeah, exactly.
So I mean, I was so impressed to see how many NFL teams jumped on these players and just embarked on that journey, this new journey that they wanna get players in a different way through different leagues.
Let's call it a Farm League.
Maybe I don't think it's necessarily the official farm Lee to the NFL, but it could be like unsaid, you know, like that's just what do you want to do? Go to college, go to the X f l or, you know, go overseas and play football, which really isn't the same thing as like overseas basketball, where you get a lot of looks, but I think it's that those are the two best options, right? Like you're coming out of high school.
You're a punter. Moose.
What do you wanna Do you wanna go to college or do you wanna go play for a seven like the XFL and take your chances there? If you're coming out with a dream, What's your out If it if it's may, I'm going XFL because may like if I'm goingto say Alabama like pretending I'm like a top under Alabama.
All burn, you know.
Seems like top school punters were never that great anymore, with the exception being like Daniel Carlson from the Raiders.
That they have never panned out even will record his first kick off.
He messed up is LCL and a CEO.
It just It's too much, too much risk being especially a punter or kicker.
I'll just take the pro grub.
You're getting them. I agree.
I think that's how I'm looking at it, too.
If you're looking for an education, let's not devalue that, like going to get a free education somewhere and playing football while you're doing.
If that's what you're looking to Dio, I think that's amazing.
My founder, my co founder Christian McGowan, didn't pay a cent for college.
He went and played offensive linemen in southeastern Louisiana.
Was he ecstatic to be in that area of Louisiana from California.
Los Angeles? No, but he was ecstatic that he was able to play what he loved, get college paid for make connections and be on a national stage that maybe if it did go right, he'd go to the NFL.
And if not, you have the college education tow back toe lean back on.
Of course, if it doesn't work out.
So, you know, like for example, my brother question, I think.
What about it? Really, really.
Well, well, if you think Yea, I just want to go straight to NFL.
The education part doesn't matter to me.
I wanna give it my all right now.
And if not, maybe I already have a backup plan.
I agree with you.
I mean, maybe take the channels to the XFL sign.
Ah, contract that you would make a lower level management contract at any kind of restaurant or anything like that is gonna be similar money at first.
But you're playing.
You're doing your dream like my boy Hayden.
He's pitching for the New Jersey Jackals right now.
And he they just won the championship.
I think he's even talking about maybe signing to go play ball over in.
I believe it was Kabo.
I want to say Kabul or can I think Cancun? And it's like, bro, like even if you're making that, he's probably making the same money as me right now, working like a restaurant management gig, stuff along like that and he gets to play his dream.
And who knows? Maybe he continues to progress, and people see him where he gets picked up into a farm league.
Like if you have the chance to keep making money and playing the sport that you love.
My recommendation is keep doing that as long as you physically and but have a backup plan, though, you know, of course, like you know, you always have to have your mind thinking in 100 different ways.
You can't just lock into anything in life and think that's the only thing you're gonna ever do.
But ****, man, if you can and there's a route, I think take it right.
You don't even keep the dream alive.
Right? So what are you doing right now? You said you want to try to keep it alive to I know you're always kicking and punting stuff.
What if you what's your What's your dream of? So I'm curious.
Let's tell our people here.
And by the way, I want to shout out Ah, JC, And it's checking out our stream and Kobe beef. 200.
Thank you for coming as well.
We're gonna wrap Kobe the legend tonight. Of course.
But most tell me your dreams Tell me what you want to do in sports or what feels situation and love for prayer.
Well, right now, since I'm just gonna pretend like, you know, the pro sports out the window because, like, I didn't go to college and you know, So I've just been purpose fully I can't talk purposely focused on just fully writing all the time and getting my name out there and that just I took so many In the beginning, I was on, like, five different sites.
Just getting there for looks I've been with on rap for people who don't know for, like, yeah, two years.
Yeah, yeah, year and a half fish.
Yeah, it's been a long time, man.
And first off, we've got some more people.
Kiki and Rocket Girl, 19 for joining.
We appreciate the love today, of course, talking about exit, but we're talking about Moose right now.
Every here he has been with unwrapped SportsCenter for almost two years.
If you love baseball again, Pirates content.
This is door guy.
Go check him out.
He's got so much stuff on unwrapped sports dot com about the Pirates and with other stuff as well.
But really, you know, it's all about keeping the dream alive in some way.
Like you said you through the athletic dream away.
I played basketball my whole life.
What? I wanted to go to the N B A, of course, but I'm 5 11.
I got athleticism, but nothing crazy.
I ain't going anywhere, man.
But what am I doing? Keep my dream alive to talking sports doing we're doing so you know, it's a different dream, but I'm definitely pumped That, you know you're taking those steps is well, and we'll do a little mids plug right here.
Why don't you tell everyone that's maybe new with us here where they could find your writing outside of unwrapped sports particularly XFL, who we are talking about today.
So move how they could find Extell writing with what his new games.
You could find it on xfl board dot com.
Right now, I currently cover like every team and do interviews his players from each of the 18.
But when the league kicks back up, I'll be taking on the Dragons again for my boy, Brock Miller, the punter and Keely we're talking about here in a second, we could start on their way to Q B on the planet.
We could start with him for sure.
All right, let's start.
Let's start with him.
I believe that's Brandon Silver's Who's who you're alluding to here, so I'll let you run with it.
I know one of Moose's specialties is keening in on some underappreciated players out there with all sports and giving them some light, you know, really giving them a chance to push what they got.
And really, with the XFL connection.
Now there's a lot of guys that moose making connections with that deserve a lot more recognition.
So we'll start with Brandon.
Silver is a guy that, like Moose said, is massive on and the quarterback for the Dragons.
Let's talk about his last season.
How do you feel about him as a player? I like him as a player a lot because I'd say he was one of the best players under pressure.
Even after the there were two games that Seattle fans were chanting BJ for the backup B.
And after the game, they asked Silvers is a chance.
Affect them at all in the year before he played in the A F for Memphis.
Johnny Football is the backup.
Everybody can it, Johnny, he says.
He just uses the chance.
He blocks them out.
And when he does here that he has used his mere Mawr fueled it, just showing, Why should be hanging up the next guy? Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, he's got a good build.
I'm looking right here.
It's 6 to 224 played a Troy, so I mean, he's definitely got the bill to be a quarterback, Obviously not the tallest quarterback around.
But you got Russell Wilson, who's what, 5 10 5 11 on a lot of yeah, a lot of guys that are Tyler undersized.
Of course, this is not one of those guys.
622 24 last year.
I'm looking at these stats here.
You've got a 70.
7 quarterback rating, 539 yards, six touchdowns, four interceptions.
And remember, this season obviously was cut pretty much in half.
They only played four games out of.
I believe it was supposed to be 10 correct s.
Oh, yeah, you know, let's say half this season minus one.
Eso he would have been on pace for probably about anywhere from 12 to 14 touchdowns, about eight or nine interceptions.
So we'll say we'll say, 14 touchdowns.
Probably about 1000 yards, if not probably about 1200 yards.
That's pretty good projection for a 10 game season in the XFL, especially for its first year.
Getting those connections for the first time, getting your new coaching staff for the first time.
To be honest, a lot of the quarterbacks here didn't have a positive touchdown interception ratio, and Brandon Silvers is one of the guys that did.
Yeah, people always overlooked him.
I never got why he's more touchdowns than interceptions.
Then I'm just that hint to another guy Cardale Janet's Everybody loves this dude.
I mean, who couldn't? He's built like a freaking tight end.
David's insane, but he's through 44 touchdowns and seven interceptions, and people still rave about him, right? It's really just the name value there, you know? It s exactly he went to Ohio State.
Shout out to my cousin Lucas.
He's a freshman at Ohio State having, Ah, grand old time.
So, my boy Lucas is killing it out there, but yeah, Cardell Jones.
He was at Ohio State, an NFL talent, and then he's one of the new faces of the XFL.
So he was on all the marketing stuff.
Him, Landry Jones.
You know, guys like that.
They were remember Trent Richardson? They had him.
They had him on so much material.
And then he got cut.
I was like they wasted so much time with him and he was on almost everything.
Everything, and they kind of like week of it was sa***e.
But let's talk about all Jones like you said.
Four touchdowns, seven interceptions, 674 yards, 57.
9 passer rating.
Almost 13 points less then Mr Silver is over there and he played five games technically, but was, I believe, pulled in the last game, wasn't it? He was told for the former Bill Tyree Jackson on.
He was exciting.
To what? How do you feel about Cardale? Jones is future with the XFL.
I mean, I feel like it kind of it gave him a platform to show what he could Dio and also a kind of, you know, I felt like his ceiling was a little too high.
Or it should be like, you know, little.
Yeah, he's like, I want that I've stayed.
I'm playing with these Alabama A and M Troy, you know, be three Carnegie Mellon that it doesn't matter what level you play that it matters.
The talent you have cartel just couldn't get it done.
Absolutely No, I agree with you completely.
We have to do have a couple more guys we wanted to highlight today.
Let's talk another big name.
That was obviously also on a lot of promotional material.
Thekla back for the renegades.
We have Landry Jones, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback.
So another name Brandt that is going to resonate with you like Cardale Jones.
You remember him on the Steelers back in a big then.
So how do you feel about Landry Jones? I have a stats in front of me.
I'll put out for 784 yards.
So the most yards we've seen yet five touchdown, seven interceptions with 77.
2 quarterback rating.
How do you feel about that? That's all. Through four games.
I like plan. Drill you got.
He showed that he's I feel like he could definitely start in the NFL just because he sat behind Big Ben.
I mean, I'm not the biggest fan of Big Ben, but I will admit that he's one of the best quarterbacks.
Maybe not right now.
But when he was going to the playoffs, year in, year out, he was one of the best game sitting behind him for, like, four season.
You're gonna pick up on some stuff? Absolutely.
When he went to Oklahoma to so we had good coaching, another big school and another name that you already knew.
I don't know about starting in the NFL, at least quite yet.
It's a little too soon, but you know, to be a backup in the NFL waiting for your opportunity.
He was already there.
You know, I think this is farfetched, like he already had that position that had those contracts.
So who knows if he makes it back into the NFL? I believe he is heading back to the XFL when they do returns.
Or at least I haven't really heard that he wasn't so I'll just take that is that he's coming back.
But I definitely love his arm.
I think he has a problem with some field vision.
Hence the seven interceptions.
But like 800 yards in the four games, like the guy can throw, you know he is extremely smart at times.
But then you just see that you know his vision is not the best, and he takes a little a lot of chances.
Why you see those interceptions while a guy like Brandon Silver's who is still, you know, a little bit more moderate as a quarterback doesn't take his many chance.
But he's still less it loose.
You know it's not like Brandon Silvers is, um, Teddy Bridgewater, like he's still throws the deep ball sometimes.
So I got one interesting factory silvers to.
He actually beat L s U in Death Valley in college.
Oh, then Silver is used and I was interesting.
I forgot that he was Johnny Manziel was his back up when he was making that come back.
So it's interesting now with him fending off so many people that have a big name behind him and just keeping that job.
It's very It's almost like last chance you that year that they brought in the guy who ended up going toe Auburn.
I mean, it's supposed to be their quarterback.
You bounce back that totally blanking on his name.
And then they had a guy that was a local.
He grew up like 10 miles away.
Didn't even take college football.
Serious was like, If I go, I go.
But like, I'm just here to keep playing football, And he was just better with the playbook.
He was just a efficient quarterback, and he started the whole season, except for the one game that he was injured, where home boy who went in there and just went off and got a scholarship to Auburn.
So it's all about waiting for your opportunity.
Like both of them.
I love that kind of comparison.
There we have one more guy that you want to talk about.
That I know is even more interesting.
So I'm gonna let you run with this one because he is kind of a quarterback, but kind of not.
So I want to hear how you feel about such a gadget guy.
Quinton Flowers from the Viper's Quentin Flowers.
I liked a lot on the Vipers.
He was about 20 minutes outside of his home town, so that also brought a lot of flair to his name.
He played at Southern Florida, which is also about like, half hour away from there and being quarterback and running back, he even he's basically like Johnny Man Zell, but better because he got a he can hit a guy on the run perfectly because there is the game.
I believe it against the Roughnecks, the only through 15 passes, but he completed eight of them.
He whistled it right between the safeties and nailed him perfectly for almost a touchdown.
He was tacking on the one yard, Yeah, and that's encouraging to see that he's able to throw.
Obviously, he didn't throw for a touchdown last year here, he threw for one interception and it was 106 yards total.
So he didn't get the chance to really settle in because he on Lee played in three games.
Then one of them is blank meeting.
He was most likely injured or scratch for that game, and then he got a chance with Game five.
But it's interesting because I pulled up his rushing stats here game.
8 yards of carry, three yards of carry, 4.
8 yards of carry, so average 4.
9 yards of carry.
He had a touchdown, rushing 16 attempts.
He was an extremely efficient runner, 16 attempts, almost five yards carrying the touchdown.
That's that's killer, but like you can't really make too much out of the sample size that we were able to see with a lot of these guys.
Unfortunately, and now, because of what's happening, who knows? If we'll see it in 2021? How do you did? They say it was happening in 2022 there's no chance of 2021.
What's the latest status of that? It was to begin in 2022 like they're just gonna take 2021 off.
I mean, to be honest, it's probably smart if you're gonna really wait this pandemic e think it by that 0.2022.
If it's been two years and we haven't figured out rather how to get rid of this virus or how to properly live with it and minimize it, something's wrong.
Yeah, something's wrong.
So if you give it two years, that's the best chance that you could give your business, at least for the landscape to improve.
And for you to start without an uphill battle.
Who wants to start a business with an uphill battle? You know who wants to come in and be like It's a league fresh off bankruptcy brand new employees during a pandemic.
Like if I take a year off here, this was gonna happen if it wasn't for me anyway.
So no one's gonna be upset.
Like this league, we almost felt like was a one hit wonder. Twice.
It almost opened up and closed twice with nothing happening again.
And if it wasn't for the Rock and Miss Garcia, this would have been happy.
This would have been possible So awesome, man, I had such a great time with you today.
