00:00:12
Welcome into the hateful Hitman Podcast War chant Recap just got done watching the Florida State game.
00:00:19
I am Chris draws wall, Find me on Twitter at Hateful Hitman.
00:00:23
Um, going live here on SportsCastr to through review Florida State, Jacksonville State game and, uh, a game they're supposed to one s o.
00:00:33
The wind was nice and I talked about this on my podcast, and I talked about it last week that they had to get this win.
00:00:40
It was it was a stretch of rough roads after this, uh, four games that air just ugly.
00:00:50
And, you know, they needed this win to get some kind of feel good about something, and this game started off bad.
00:00:59
Um, and I still have issues with this defense.
00:01:03
It's leaks, It just leaks everywhere.
00:01:06
And, um and I ain't just the watch nor Valls post game press conference here once it once it once he's done with it.
00:01:14
But get his thoughts on what he thought about the game in general.
00:01:20
But the overall atmosphere looked a lot better on offense.
00:01:26
All this keeping in mind that you're playing Jacksonville State on that note.
00:01:33
That kid, that kid from Jacksonville state was a heck of a quarterback.
00:01:38
Um, he was He's only a couple touchdowns away from the all time school record, and he's thrown for a ton of yards and he was a Clemson transfer, you know? So I mean, he was recruited by the best school in the country, so, you know, he was no slouch, and he let he knew you could see that he he had poised.
00:01:56
He had controlled the offense.
00:01:58
He was He was never rattled.
00:02:00
He was confident that the picky through the Asante Samuel was him just trying to make a play.
00:02:06
So, you know, it's like, uh, you knew going in and they were going to be tested because this team has s so soft, they're so soft.
00:02:16
And they needed to be pushed in a game where they could win.
00:02:21
Okay, Georgia Tech was a team that should have beaten.
00:02:24
They could have won that game.
00:02:25
They weren't going to beat Miami.
00:02:27
We discussed that last week.
00:02:29
This was a game they should have win, needed to win and had to win.
00:02:34
And, um, the emergence of Jordan Travis, a quarterback to me.
00:02:39
I spoke volumes because and and they let him throw the ball, which was something we haven't really seen in his two years at F S U.
00:02:47
So the throat of helping down the middle on the touchdown to broke the broke the scoring drought for F. S.
00:02:55
It was a great throw.
00:02:56
It could have been a little bit, you know, But it was a double coverage, helping made a great play and it was off and running.
00:03:01
And you could see the confidence in that kid just growing, you know, every drives.
00:03:06
And that's what they needed.
00:03:07
And, you know, he played well.
00:03:09
He ran the ball.
00:03:10
He was throwing blocks.
00:03:12
You know, this is their God.
00:03:13
I don't see how it can't be, because it's evident that Norville doesn't wanna play trouble party.
00:03:20
It's evident that it's either he doesn't wanna play to get him re injured or doesn't want to play behind that offensive line and and just rock his confidence.
00:03:29
And all of those things are completely understandable.
00:03:32
So it this was a game where I thought we'd see pretty play a little bit.
00:03:37
Roger Maker came in to start.
00:03:38
The game wasn't great, wasn't wasn't great at all.
00:03:41
And, uh, so that pick six.
00:03:44
And, you know, he was confused.
00:03:46
And then it was Jordan Travis.
00:03:47
And after that, you know, Jordan Travis basically just grabbed a hold of that starting job, you know, with both hands and gripped it right this moment.
00:03:56
Okay, I think he's your starting quarterback going to Notre Dame next week.
00:04:00
I see no reason why it would be anybody else.
00:04:03
Um, he's he's got a on ability to make a guy miss and get tough yards.
00:04:13
And it's it's his ability like that.
00:04:15
That is a head and shoulders above what else we've seen this year on the field.
00:04:21
Keep in mind, we haven't seen, you know, trouble pretty yet.
00:04:24
And whatever reason, Norville doesn't want him out there.
00:04:26
And I get that you're trying to protect your investment for the future.
00:04:31
So if that's the case, save him, you know, let him watch and learn and grow in the offense and, you know, grow and stay healthy and let Jordan Travis, do you do this thing for you? Because he looked really good tonight.
00:04:45
You know, against a decent team, a good team, you know, in the, uh in the FBS And, you know, that team was no slouch.
00:04:51
Just was their first game of the year.
00:04:52
They had some cramping issues, you know, in the second half, you could tell that they were tired and wore out.
00:04:59
Typically, you know the same things you see on a team playing their first game, But they they came out swinging.
00:05:10
And you think, Okay, f s u is going to really just They're gonna take another one.
00:05:16
And they ended up, you know, getting a score, gaining some momentum.
00:05:20
And after that, you know, they just really took hold of that game in the second half and really looked good.
00:05:25
He had it was over 250 yards rushing on the ground combined, uh, tape there.
00:05:31
Ah, Travis through for 2.
00:05:33
70 something, I think I heard I didn't get the final stat lines, but, you know, good offensive numbers.
00:05:39
And they were able to move the ball to a filly.
00:05:40
Had almost 100 yards the Damien Web look like a little ball dynamite.
00:05:45
Uh, Corbyn got in the end zone there to ice the game, so I mean, they've got a lot of good things to build off of.
00:05:51
They got carried the ball. They got Ontario.
00:05:53
Pokey Wilson. The ball.
00:05:55
Uh, there's a lot that they got, you know, in this office, and there's no reason it can't function at a at a college football level against everyone.
00:06:05
I don't care who the opponent is.
00:06:08
They should still be able to play a certain level.
00:06:12
You know of meaningful football at this level.
00:06:17
What we've seen the last two weeks was was not that.
00:06:20
So you know, I'll be a little a little step in the right direction.
00:06:26
I'm happy for Novell on the staff to get that ****** off their back and get their first win, and it's got to feel good because you needed something positive to come out of this game and and they got it defensively, you know, they made it a couple of good plays and Josh CanDo love seeing Josh came to go back out there.
00:06:44
That was fantastic.
00:06:45
I missed the game last week with the injury from the Georgia Tech game and it was really great to see him back out there.
00:06:52
Um, hey, made some really good plays.
00:06:55
Big Marv was out the first half because of the incident.
00:06:58
The targeting incident last week, Um, didn't do much, but his presence, I think, just makes just makes you, you know, pay attention.
00:07:06
So, um, I think the penalties, we're a little bit lower.
00:07:11
There was a couple of boneheaded penalties there in the fourth quarter, but, you know, for the most part, the penalties were down.
00:07:16
I think you could see a difference.
00:07:19
Um, and the presentation of this team with Norville back on the sidelines after the coronavirus thing from last week.
00:07:25
So him being there on the sidelines, I definitely think made a difference.
00:07:29
Um, on field adjustments, you know, seeing what he needed to do.
00:07:33
And, you know, I really I'm I'm on this Norville wagon for a long as I could write it.
00:07:40
I think he's a great coach.
00:07:42
I love watching what he did in Memphis.
00:07:45
Um, you know this guy, he's the right guy for the job.
00:07:48
He just needs time.
00:07:49
And with time, you know, comes experience and understanding and educating these players.
00:07:55
And, you know, not this year, probably maybe maybe next year a little bit better, but the following year, you're probably going to see some drastic changes of F S.
00:08:06
So it's it's great to get this win now.
00:08:08
They dio turn their sights to Notre Dame.
00:08:10
Uh, there were some injuries, that's you know, they said Blackman was injured.
00:08:16
I don't really know if that's if that's the case or not.
00:08:21
Blackman didn't need to play at all in this game, and they won.
00:08:25
So I think that tells you that speaks volumes for the quarterback position.
00:08:31
So, uh, I'm not sure what's wrong with Travis J.
00:08:36
He's in a walking boot on crutches on the sideline.
00:08:39
I didn't see how serious that injury was, so I don't know.
00:08:44
But he's a playmaker and he's a He's a game changer and he's young, so it'd be nice to have him back under Dame, but doesn't look promising.
00:08:52
But I could say I really interested in seeing what Norville has to say and getting his thoughts on on this win.
00:08:58
But, you know, all in all, a great game.
00:09:00
If you're in old fan because we finally got something to take a deep breath and just say okay, we've we've gotta win, So that's that's a good thing.
00:09:10
So you know, Notre Dame next week's tough challenge.
00:09:15
They got a couple of good wide receivers, and that's just a, you know, a program that's just rich in tradition, like F S.
00:09:21
And you know, hopefully that the Knowles could just go up there, at least compete and make it interesting.
00:09:26
Uh, don't expect them to win, but, you know, just show up and have a heartbeat for Dagenham sake and play a play tough play that they played tough tonight.
00:09:34
They took him a minute.
00:09:35
They got punched in the mouth a couple of times, but they were finally like, OK, this team is beneath us.
00:09:39
We're better than these guys.
00:09:41
Let's go beat them And they did.
00:09:43
Now they're going to go get punched in the mouth of South Bend, but they're gonna have to punch back.
00:09:48
And that's what's gonna make the medal of this team going forward is, you know, you're probably not gonna win that game, but how you play that game is going to mean a lot going forward.
00:10:00
If you go up there and you have heart and you play for four quarters and you know no matter what the scores at the end of the game.
00:10:06
If you play tough and you haven't give up and you just kept punching back, then you've got something to look forward to the rest of the season.
00:10:13
If you go out there and just hang it up, you get down 14 21 to nothing and you just quit playing.
00:10:20
You know, that's the makeup of this team.
00:10:22
It goes good when it's going good.
00:10:23
When it goes bad, you know you give up.
00:10:26
So now we'll see.
00:10:28
Um, we're gonna celebrate. Just win tonight.
00:10:31
You know, it's it's a small step, but it's a big step at the same time because you know, it's the first win under the North Bell era and you know, now we have something to look forward to.
00:10:39
There were some holes, the offensive line look better and they did.
00:10:43
They looked, they looked okay.
00:10:44
It's not say better.
00:10:45
They look okay, Uh, in spots, opening up some holes and I think it was just ah, couple of running a couple of of missed tackles away from toe, feeling really busting one and taking one, you know, a long distance for a touchdown.
00:11:02
In this game he was he was so close, so many times.
00:11:05
Just gonna be great to see that kid getting open field open up and see what he could do.
00:11:10
I was really hoping to see Corey Ren making appearance in this game.
00:11:13
His speed is next level elite.
00:11:17
Um, I would have loved to have seen him in on something on a kick return or something.
00:11:22
I really thought that that would happen, but it didn't, um, disappointed about that.
00:11:27
But, you know, maybe he's not ready, you know, maybe his time will come, but, you know, with speed like that, it can't be ignored, but can't wait to see that kid on the field on a on the end around or reverse or or some kind of a gadget play or something.
00:11:41
Get him in open space and you're not catching.
00:11:44
There might not be anybody you know, in the A C C that can catch.
00:11:47
He might be the fastest kid you know in the A. C. C.
00:11:50
Once he gets going, uh, kicking straight run.
00:11:53
So looking forward to see what he could do.
00:11:55
I really wanted him out there to see if you know, even if it was just a small driver package just to see him making appearance.
00:12:00
So I was a little disappointed about that.
00:12:04
The only thing I was disappointed about was I'm not sure what happened to Parker.
00:12:09
Growth House kicking the extra points.
00:12:10
Onda field goals.
00:12:13
He did it the first week and he didn't do it last week.
00:12:16
But you know the kicker now, He missed in extra point, which didn't really loom large in this game.
00:12:21
But it could loom large at some point.
00:12:24
And, you know, I Parker good house went to high school with my nieces, so, you know, im kind of rooting for him, you know, because he's Ohio guy from Indian, like Ohio.
00:12:33
So, uh, I'd like to see him succeed.
00:12:36
So a little bit of a homer homer thing right there.
00:12:39
But, you know, it also seems like to me, he's got a great leg, all the Kickoffs, he just booms into the end zone.
00:12:44
So I don't know.
00:12:46
Anyway, Great win for the Knowles great win for Seminole Nation, and, uh, we'll pack it up out of here and get ready for another game next week, and I just hope they can show up.
00:12:55
Uh, check me out on Here's the Tonight.
