this will be here.
No se y'all justice Convenient.
No, I ain't on some last room Way alive.
Get back before we live here.
It's been so anyway.
Oh, my goodness, man, Here we are.
I was just going thio start off, man.
I'm excited for those of you who don't know, first of all, thank you for those of you who joined us live here.
You know, I imagine there won't be that Maybe who catch this live.
Probably be a lot of people who catch the replay of the stream.
Whether you're watching college football or you just don't know about Malik and I quite yet.
You definitely will.
For those of you who don't know, Malik and I have been good buddies for a few years now.
We went to we met in college.
We graduated together.
We used to dio a radio show, a live radio show.
Every single Wednesday.
We turned that into a video podcast that got decently popular on YouTube.
And, uh, then we started our own podcast, which we were both very, very excited about. But then we graduated.
Malik moved back to Washington, D.
And we haven't haven't got in the podcast back going again.
But we will soon we're going to start doing regular spots here on SportsCastr as well.
And mostly I'm just excited to talk to my buddy Malik.
Dude, we have not talked in forever.
There's been so, so much that's gone on.
Um, since we last talked in the sports world and in the regular world, unfortunately, well, not.
Unfortunately, as I loved the stream I've got to get to in 50 minutes.
So we've got a lot to pack in here.
Um, well, where you want to start doing? I mean, it's been forever since we've talked.
I know you recently had a birthday.
We're going to the God, of course.
Another year on Earth.
My 24th year eject was it was a lot of ups and downs.
No, it was really the year First year of me not being in college.
As you know, we graduated last May and it was really just a more so developmental year for me mentally.
Andi, just, you know, learning how Thio get through this real life aspect, you know, with having a degree and, you know, applying for jobs and things of that nature.
And, you know, it's been a little bit rough around the edges, but, you know, I'm sticking with it, Um, continue toe to stay afloat and keep a positive mindset.
But other than that, I have been writing NHL articles for the three point conversion.
Um, possibly about to have a partnership with a blazing radio starting up.
Another podcast is called Just the vibe.
We literally just talked about this last night as we're speaking right now, Jake.
So I'm a little bit variable? Not a little bit.
I'm very excited about that.
And I mean, the future is is very bright for both of us.
And as you are tested to, I mean, I was going through the ranks, you know, through Stephen's point and through the sports hub and, you know, being kicked off and you know Oh, man, we'll get into that someday on the podcast.
I mean, we will get into all of that.
Uh, I guess you could call a drama.
But, man, what? What a time that was.
I can't believe that was only I mean, it feels like it was a long time ago, but it also feels like it was just yesterday.
It's one of those weird things, you know? Um, but yeah, man, I haven't even thought about that for I haven't thought about that for so long.
We got kicked off the sport tub again.
We'll get into all this on the podcast eventually.
Um, because I think, Yeah, movie.
And I think both want to get that podcast going again.
We never, never officially dropped it As we recorded two episodes came up with the name I built an intro, and then things just happened.
And, uh, months went by and we, you know, hadn't talked.
So the podcast kind of put on the shelf.
But we will get back to it because there's so much There's somebody, things do just like that, you know, like, you just say something.
And it reminds me we have hours and hours and hours of material to talk about just not even sports related.
But man, like you said, Like, the journey has just been crazy between sports beat Sports hub.
And now we're both writing articles for different platforms.
Dude, applying for jobs not gonna lie harder than I thought it would be.
I thought I'd be ableto walks out there and get a radio job or a TV job or something.
Um, I've been in the final three for TV for a a man.
Why can't I think of the word? Uh, not a host, but an anchor.
I was in the running for an anchor anchor job sports anchor, weekend sports anchor, main anchor, um, out in Montana.
And I was in the final three for that, but did not get get did not get the job.
And other than that, I haven't even really been been close.
So it's been rougher than I thought it would be.
But we're both writing and stuff, though.
Are you still writing for the Mystics? Were writing about the Mystics as well.
He wanted me to do the guy that runs the company.
His name is Rafael. Great.
Dude reached out to me while I was in school.
Well, excuse me, it was vice versa.
I reached out to him while we were doing the sports being stuff like on hey, basically had me back and was like, Yeah, well before you graduate, you know, try toe.
You know, let me know what you will be interested in, because I do have a little bit of credentials to get you inside of stadiums.
So he has credentials for the Washington Redskins.
Hey, has most of football team.
It's the football team.
Excuse me full time. Yes.
I mean, you live, you live there.
I'm sure that's the case with most people out there, you know, I doubt most people are walking on going, Oh, the football team.
The football people are probably still coming.
The Redskins, for the most part, obviously, national media.
Or, if you want to be, you know, correct or whatever it is the football team.
But, I mean, it's just like when people say in San Diego Chargers, I mean, people gonna call them the Redskins for the next 5 to 10 years.
Probably, especially when they don't.
If they give us another real name, if they give us an actual name instead of a football team, and then maybe you could call them something else.
But you know, a lot of my family members, as you know, our Redskin friends, a lot of my friends excuse Gosh, look at that.
It rolls off the tongue so easily, it rolls off the tongue so easily Thought that this was e mean central on the topic.
I felt like, you know, with the name change and everything that's coming along with it, you know, the re framing of their entire dynasty.
I really think that has been very important, especially for the young core that they've placed, You know, the defensive line.
Now you got Ron Rivera.
They're super boat.
He's been to this world before, you know? So you have experience in that, um, aspect of the Washington football team, but they still have a lot of work to do and a lot of work to go.
But, you know, I'm actually as a Washingtonian.
I'm actually happy to see the elevation that they're trying to progress, and you know that they're trying to change up a few things.
So I'm pretty impressed with that.
Things moving in the right direction for them.
But luckily for you, you're not even that hard core of a football team fan.
You get to be a fan of the Atlanta Falcons who is just za most brutal fan I mean, Dude, I was having this conversation.
I was just recently in Colorado and the buddy that I was staying with you had a roommate who is also a Falcons fan, and we literally watched.
That was the week that they let the Cowboys comeback.
And so we literally watched that game live together.
And he was just talking about how miserable oven existence it is to be a Falcons fan. E.
I was like, Dude, I have a friend.
I have one of my good buddies who's a Falcons and the Houston Rockets fan like, How horrible is that? And it just looks amigos, bro.
Yeah, I don't even know how that kid lives.
Dude, I was like, You trust me, e Like the same teams, They're just the football and basketball version of each other. Dude, you are.
You're a fan of the most frustrating and disappointing franchises.
Uh, in both leaks, it is just so boneheaded.
E, I don't even know what I don't even know what type of terminology to use or what verb is to use its honestly very nerve racking when you watch your team completely dominate for you know, let's say and then you know the last 15 minutes go past.
You know you're happy, Happy go lucky friends.
You know, I'm happy chairing.
Yeah, let's go, let's go! And I don't know.
Oh, I don't I really don't understand it to find over, to lose J And this has been an ongoing thing since you've known me like you know this and they find a way to lose.
I don't know what happens with the players.
I don't know if that Quinn needs to go.
Everyone keeps calling for not when it's like It's not just that, Quinn.
It's the players, the defense.
I just don't know.
It's really frustrating.
So for you to say that with your friend, like I already know, because the only person that was with me when we were watching the Cowboys game was my girlfriend, Kayla. Shout out to Kayla.
Andi, she looked at me and was just like, Oh my God, she had to give me like, 30 minutes after the game went off because E had to take a breather and, like literally, I went inside the other room.
I didn't talk to her for, like, an hour Like I was just like, Yo, this is just very nerve.
That's the only way you can handle it.
Honestly, is the person at least you're not smashing your TV and **** like that, but, uh, no, Um, do the other thing is, though is like, Yeah, I don't know.
You know, you get rid of Dan Quinn, you bring in somebody else like, uh, what is anybody else gonna do that Dan Quinn's not doing to prevent these 20 point fourth quarter collapses? You know, like Dan Quinn's not out on the field.
And maybe it's the offensive game plan you could, like, say, a bunch of stuff like that.
But, I mean, it's happened too many times, happen too often for it to just be a head coach type thing.
I mean, it's gotta be on Matt Ryan.
It's got to be on the offensive line. It's gotta be able to defense.
It's gotta be on everybody, dude, like just to fall apart like that, multiple weeks in a row or two out of three weeks, eyes just nuts.
And obviously it's not new to this season, either.
Like this is this has been the Atlanta Falcons, especially obviously highlighted by the 28 3 Super Bowl.
But, um, it's it's, I don't know.
It's unreal, dude.
Like, at least it's still early on in the season.
At least there is still hopes for the Falcons because of that extra playoff spot this year.
But I feel like it's gonna be another wasted year like another potential year.
I mean, they could easily be two and one right now.
You bring in Tiger Li like the often still looks pretty good.
It's like it's not like they're trash football team, you know? But there.
Oh, and three now they gotta face the Packers on a Monday night, which I actually think I actually like the Falcons, uh, to cover the spread.
I don't know if they're gonna beat the Packers, but I think they're in such desperation mode right now.
They absolutely need to win.
Um, the Packers, obviously the offense has been exploding, but, uh, now you're without Allen was hard for an undisclosed amount of time.
Lazar has been huge.
Yeah, he had core surgery.
Yeah, eso ****yst guards out for nobody knows how long.
And then the hopes was to keep Davante Adams on the side.
Rush out Davante Adams for this Monday night game.
And if, uh, if he doesn't play, then we're done.
Thio mvs Dairy a shepherd And I think Malik Turner, I believe, are the only three wide receivers that are on the Packers.
So, like it could be a could be an opportunity for your Falcons here on Monday night, just certainly because of the Packers health, although Erin Jones, Jamal Williams though they have been a pretty good, tangible backs for the Packers.
So and and that's the whole that's the whole reason why I wanted to talk on this subject, which was the next game coming up with you all on Monday night? Um, it Z just crazy to think that Calvin Ridley, Julio Jones they might not play.
They're both questionable.
And then you have Russell Gauge he's been upgraded to He's gonna play.
He was questionable as well.
And Cheon o Neill is not gonna play our safety.
Other safety is out.
So both of our starting safeties I'm not gonna be playing.
I mean, you're talking about Aaron Rodgers here you know when Aaron Rodgers plays the Falcons, it doesn't matter.
It's always gonna be a shootout between him and Matt Ryan.
I mean, first of all, I was gonna be a shootout with Aaron Rodgers.
He's a bad man anyway.
Especially the way he's playing.
Yeah, really not you guys. Nine. Touchdown.
Zero interceptions right now, I believe.
I mean, he would be running away with the M V P race if not for Russell Wilson, of course.
Patrick Mahomes reminded everybody how great he was the other night against Baltimore, but I mean, without Russell Wilson being as phenomenal as he has been.
I mean, it's Aaron Rodgers all day right now for the M V P race, obviously only three weeks in, but he's been just torching teams.
And I mean, he was only a 6.
5 point favorite to the Lions.
And when the Lions had three, all three of their top defensive backs out and somehow they were only 6.
5 point dogs and the Packers ended up beating them by 21.
Like I potentially feel I don't know, I feel like that could happen with the with the Atlanta game if Atlanta can't find a way to get going on offense.
But it's not like the Packers defense has been great and the Atlanta's been able to score points.
They're just they're scoring a ton of points and then giving it up.
It's not like they haven't been able to score points, you know, So that's that's not your issue.
But how lame is it gonna be if we see two primetime games two weeks in a row without both teams like top players? Last week it was New Orleans verse Green Bay.
Michael Thomas, The Davante Adams were out, and now this week we might have a injured Davante Adams.
But we have no l'm Lazard.
We might not have Calvin Ridley, who is just an absolute stud.
Dude, I love Calvin Ridley, you know, not have Julio Jones.
So it's like two weeks of probably time games in a row and we're gonna be missing the best players.
It's just it's really crazy.
I mean, this whole year has been ah, plague of injuries.
You know, I tweeted out so many times, Um I wish a speedy recovery for everybody is gonna hurt.
I actually tweeted out that I thought that it was more injuries this year.
But, you know, somebody that wanted to be smart replied and sent the actual tweet of, like, the injury reports and stuff.
And I was, like, respect.
And I I took that on the chin.
But you know, it zibin that type of year and then you had another injury.
I met like MetLife Stadium.
I know you saw that injury with I think it was, wasn't it? Um, was it? No, it's not.
You heard? I believe.
Yeah. Yeah, I think it was Matt life.
And then they were like, you say, um that he most there.
He was like, they need to get ready to feel now.
Do you think that the turf there is bad? Because, I mean, over the years, ah, lot of players have been getting her at MetLife.
So what do you think about that? Do you think that they need to change it up with that stadium? Or I mean, obviously I never I never been there, but all you can see is you know the results and you can see what the players have said.
I mean, uh, lots of teams go to that stadium every single year because you're talking the Giants opponents and the Jets opponents, right? So you get 16 teams in there every year, and all of them say that the field is crap.
A bunch of the guys have gotten hurt like pretty much everything about New York.
Football is terrible right now.
The field is terrible, the teams are terrible like, but I mean, I I'm in no position to argue like, no, the stadium is fine or the turf is fine when players are out there getting hurt And players were out there saying the turf is bad, it's probably because it's bad.
So I just wanted to fill in on that because I just knew that Rahim Er, excuse me most of that, you know, he's a starting running back.
I didn't know if it was at my life.
It might have been because he I think all of their starters I mean, Garoppolo, Nick Bosa and him got hurt, I believe.
And it was all in one game, so I think that it might have been at that field, but I'm not super positive a month.
Double back and check on that.
But yeah, man, it's been It's been a plague of injuries this year, especially, especially if you're in a C L.
I mean, there's been, like, six or eight a c l. Tears.
Ah, lot of big name players to It sucks.
It's like, you know, the NFL was able to figure out for the most part, obviously, they're having problems with Covert right now, but they were able to figure out how to get a season started on time.
Uh, you know, Skip to the pre season which ended up being just find.
The offenses have looked great in these first few weeks like everything was going pretty good for the NFL.
But injuries just start to pile up.
Injuries, injuries, injuries and I were getting postponements.
I mean, it's gonna be a crazy year all the way through.
And what I was saying to is like, you know, right now, the NFL has the luxury of being able to move games around, make teams skip, thereby weeks, whatever, like what happens if there's a covert.
I'll break in week 11 Week 12 when teams are already passed, thereby weeks when there's no room to reschedule like that's That's when it becomes a huge problem.
You know, like what's gonna happen down the line for that? That's that's what I'm waiting.
I'm like, I don't think there's gonna be too many issues the first 6 to 8, maybe even 10 weeks.
But when you get into it too deep November, you get into December.
If you've got a couple teams that aren't able to play or you're missing some big impact players mhm, that's when it's gonna matter the most.
It iss it really is.
And then you're talking about momentum.
I mean, think about the basketball season.
You have all of these teams that were, you know, a lot of teams had that moment, um, going into which the what was It was around like March when everything shut down like, yeah, it was right Before March 20th.
It was like the 17th or 16th somewhere in there was the official day that they shut everything down.
Yeah, so I mean before then you look at, you know, after all, star break and even before All star break for best basketball.
You know, teams has so much momentum, and so that's why I like even with the finals this year, it's like the bubble was such a brilliant idea.
I mean, we had some of the best basketball that we've seen exciting basketball that we have ever seen.
I mean, no fans, really no stress on the role players to come out and have toe really deal with the fines, been in their areas if they're missing shots or the way finds, you know, not being able to travel, you know, it's really it's really making it easy on the players, and I feel like this was the best thing to do.
The same with the NHL was both successful, you know, for them to have it in Edmonton and then, you know, also have it.
And, uh, in Toronto, they had two distinct locations.
I think that they did a great job.
Both the and it Excuse me, the NHL and NBA and I mean there's gonna pay Devon is really gonna be It's really gonna be interesting to me to see where the start of the season we're gonna be.
I know that They said for the NHL, they're looking around December 1st to start next season, which is okay, I think month and I had enough time toe rest up after the clients.
I mean, the final looking like that would be done in the next couple of days, So Yeah, well, the other strange.
The other strange thing is like, player movement, you know, like, it's just gonna be strange for free agents or guys that get traded or whatever.
It's like you went through this whole bubble experience with these guys as you got, I'm sure even closer with your team.
You spent so much time quarantine.
And now a month and a half later, you're probably gonna be playing on a different team against those guys.
You know, like not everybody, obviously.
But we also got the expansion draft coming up.
Um, my Seattle like and that's what So I have also want to talk a little bit about Marc, Andre, Fleury and man, I just I don't I don't I don't wanna I feel like we could go about an hour on Marc Andre Fleury here, so I don't want to get too deep into it and I don't want to get too angry, but I am angry.
Miami Marc Andre Fleury is my second favorite goalie of all time.
He is top 10 and almost every single stat goaltender stat that matters both playoffs and regular season.
He is the heart and soul.
There was the heart and soul of that Vegas Golden Knights team.
Everybody loved him.
Everybody across the league loves him.
He's driven out of Pittsburgh because, you know, you've got a young goaltender and Matt Murray, who the Penguins won a Stanley Cup behind even times over that course of that playoffs, but mentored him for sure, for sure.
And like, you know, this was three.
This was four years ago already.
Now, um, when there was talks of, you know, Vegas becoming an expansion team.
So flurry, obviously was younger, still had a lot more in the tank.
So I don't think he was all that upset because, I mean, first overall pick in the expansion draft, that's gonna make you feel good, right? That means you're the best player.
The most thought after player in the entire league.
That hasn't been protected.
But now you know four years down the road, he's in the same position again.
He's like there's this young.
But instead of a young guy like Matt Murray came up in the Penguin system.
He's a young guy.
He proved he could win.
So the Penguins were like, You know what? We're gonna go with a younger, cheaper option.
I understand that this time around, I mean, I don't have anything, really against Robin Letter.
He played fine in the playoffs, but it's like this dude has been a time sharer or a backup goaltender for most of his career.
He's bounced around to a bunch of different teams like the Blackhawks were.
It were more than willing to let him go, uh, in favor of Corey Crawford, who is, like, you know, has a good game once in a while.
But he's getting really old now.
And he's not a guy who you can depend on, like moving forward 00 oh, for sure.
But I think you know, I think the Blackhawks air having kind of towards a rebuild mode, even though they're keeping their clinging onto their old superstars and they're ignoring their younger superstar.
So I mean, that's just not.
That's not a recipe for success.
They're gonna be heading towards Total Rebuild pretty soon.
But it's like, Man, he's driven out of Pittsburgh, Welcomed with open arms.
Everybody loves the dude.
He takes the Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup final their first year in existence.
Has a nice second year two on and then holed up with that.
I'm sorry to cut you off, but that first, that this Family Cup with the Golden Knights that was against the Washington Capitals, right? That was against the Capitals when the Capitals won a game.
It took Ovechkin what, almost 15 years to get there, but he finally capitalized on what? What it's zao we're talking about right now.
We already we know the Capitals. One.
We know Ovechkin's great way.
How about this? How about these last two years, though, huh? How about there? How about their loss in the bubble this year? Capitals did not look good this year today.
It was bad, and great Britain hope he's out the door to do. He's not.
He's not coming back, he's not, and he basically said goodbye with the exit interview.
He was just like, Yeah, I'm testing free agency, you know, But all credits of Brayden Holt's, I mean, hope he gave us the Stanley Cup in that save that he had against Alex Tuck is something that will we'll always remember.
I mean, in Washington, period, as far as any championship that you look at, that stage was absolutely crazy.
And hey did what he had to do for us.
And he he hasn't really played toe the supers****om as he did when Barry Trotz was our head coach.
You know, for those first, you know, we were winning presidents trophies back to back on, of course, getting put out by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round of both of those years.
But, um, he just has not looked the same.
So and I also don't think that he really I don't think he wants to play with the cops anymore.
Honestly, I think that he's stationed on and partake on his next journey and his hockey career, and I really wish him nothing but the best.
I mean, Brady Hobie is when the classroom around here in D. C.
And, um you know, it's sad to see him leave, and he's probably gonna leave a man.
There's another expansion drive, so maybe he'll take over with.
Be interesting to see.
Well, I don't I don't think because he is a free agent.
I don't think eligible to be drafted, Um, because I mean, he's a free agent.
He's allowed to go anywhere he wants versus the expansion expansion draft.
You got a draft players who are already under contract.
So if he wants to sign it, if he was to sign a deal with with some with the team and then the team doesn't protect him, then Seattle could draft him.
But because he's an unrestricted free agent, I believe, right? He's a He's a free agent.
Yeah, so he'll probably just wait.
Or, I mean, if he signs to a team, he's going to sign as their starter, right? And nobody's gonna sign a starting goaltender and then not protect him.
Um, but I think hopefully like, yeah, I think he's just done.
He had his run with the Caps.
I think he's just done in Washington and he's gonna find more money somewhere else, like look it like surgery.
Air Sergei, Barbara Bobrovsky.
God, I could never say his name. Bobrovsky.
Look at him, dude.
Like he left, he played.
He was a good goal goalie for Columbus.
You know, for quite a while, Columbus wasn't gonna give him the amount of money he knew he could get elsewhere.
He goes down to the forward answers.
They give him a ton of money a lot.
So it's like I could see Hold me doing that doing that as well.
But that's what I'm glad you brought up Seattle because I kind of wanted to.
I mean, we could dive into the we could dive into the stats and just talk all day about how great Marc Andre Fleury is and how he's been a better, more reliable starter than Robin Lehner.
And how you are basically intentional, potentially trading away the backbone of your franchise and one of the reasons that people love your team so much for five years of mediocrity.
Because I believe that's what Robin Letter is gonna give you.
Obviously, Yeah, he played pretty great during the playoffs.
He had some big saves, but, I mean, he was averaging like 23 saves That saves a game or something like the Golden Knights were out shooting their opponents all the way through, like heavily out shooting their opponents all the way through the playoffs.
Letter had to make some big saves and big times, but he didn't have to make that like quant quantity.
He wasn't going.
He wasn't making 40 saves the game.
When he's when he has to make that many saves the game, I'm more curious as to you know what? He's gonna look like the same percentage nowhere near as good.
Career save percentage.
Not as good as Marc Andre Fleury.
Not nearly as many shutout, says Marc Andre Fleury.
Not nearly as much playoff experience like.
And the other thing is, Marc Andre Fleury just this year signed a three year, $21 million deal.
So the Vegas Golden Knights invested $7 million a year the next three years, and now they give Robin Leonard 25 million over the next five years.
So now you have what is what is that? $46 million wrapped up in your two goaltenders and in hockey, $46 million is a ton of money like their salary caps are not are not all that high.
Especially if you don't know much about about hockey.
They're not all that high.
And most teams don't even like to pay goalies that much money.
One goal in that much money on, then have some backups that don't cost anything, you know, let alone two goalies.
So, um, obviously, obviously, Marc, Andre Fleury is not going to be a golden night next year.
Uh, do they trade him? Does he end up getting picked in the expansion draft again? I mean, how wild would that be if he ends up being the goalie of the both new expansion teams? I honestly could see it.
I honestly could see it.
I mean, who else I thought maybe Peck Arena is a name that could potentially end up up in Seattle.
Hamburg. Lundquist, maybe.
Yeah, but I'm in Lundquist Lundquist.
I think they would acquire later on.
I mean, you're not gonna pick Lundquist is your starter. That would just be foolish.
I mean, the guy's 38 he only played 30 games this year.
I actually just wrote an article for Pick City.
If you could find it at pick city dot com if you're interested.
Also a flurry sports dot org's It was kind of what's next for Henrik Lundquist.
What's his next destination type thing? Um, I did it within the scope of the NHL.
I honestly could imagine I could I could see him going back.
Um, and playing in Sweden, I could see him, you know, riding out his career years in Sweden, Uh, maybe trying to place, um, professional hockey over there if you can't find a role in the NHL.
But, I mean, I don't know, you're definitely not gonna bring him on as a starter.
And if you bring in Marc Andre Fleury as your starter, I doubt you're gonna bring in Henrik Lundquist to be the backup.
Like you need some young blood there.
You can't have two guys that are in their thirties or upper thirties.
Yeah, um, well, I don't know.
It's funny because, you know, in a lot of cops pages there, like, put pushing for the cops to sign Henrik Lundquist, and I'm just like I'm not here for I mean, the guy.
I really think that his his the best years are really behind him, like he said, and he's an older goalie now, and it's really not mean to pay her money. I e.
I mean, how much? He's probably the highest paid goalie at one point in time, I'm sure, but at one point, I'm sure he was.
He signed a team favorable deal in 2013 and I think it was 51 million over seven years.
Um, which again? That's that's a team. Favorable deal.
Uh, the years, Yeah, yeah, so because they bought him out for this last year.
So he played out six out of that seven years, and I think they bought him out for, like, just under five million or something.
But I don't know, I think I think next year might be kind of a gap here or a bridge here for the Caps as they try and figure things out.
So I think I don't think signing Henrik Lundquist that at a decent if you get him at a decent price, I don't think that's a bad, a bad move, because even if he doesn't work out as your everyday starting holy whoever you're trying to keep like whoever you're young guys are that you're trying Thio work out or you're young guys.
They're trying to compete for the starting job.
Having Henrik Lundquist around is gonna be nothing but a positive thing.
He could teach them things you can, you know, be their mentor. Whatever.
And then if you get the same amount of games you played this year, you know, if you get 30 35 games out of them, if you sign him for a decent amount of money like I think it makes sense for a team like the Caps, I think it makes sense for a team like the, um, Vancouver Canucks.
I think they might be moving on from Markstrom or, uh, in favor of Dem Co.
Or at least they're gonna have themselves a goaltending battle if you bring in Henrik Lundquist.
Because obviously Markstrom and Demko both really table two goaltenders.
If if you bring in if you bring in one place to help those guys out, I could see maybe that happening.
There's a couple other teams I listed in my article again.
You can find that at pick city dot com flurry sports dot org's.
But I don't know Henrik Lundquist again. 38.
He was an All Star as recently as 2000 and 18 in 2019.
So it's not like he's totally washed up.
Hasn't you know? Has been a shell of himself for five years.
Like he's still probably 50 games in 2019.
He was all star.
I mean, he might still have some Something left in the tank is just You're not gonna wanna pay a lot for him for him.
To Tammy Tar Heel for the tip or the whistle there.
I very much appreciate it as you are my first tip ever on my sent holes on sport account here.
Usually I host things for flurry for Fleury Sports, and we log into the flurry sports account.
So my account I logged in and I was like, Man, I have zero views.
Zero like nothing.
My account was pretty much dead, even though I've been on SportsCastr five times a week.
But anyway, thank you to Tammy Tar Heel.
Appreciate all of you who are Yeah.
Appreciate all of you who are listening and all of you who are in the process of becoming big time fans of Malik and I were gonna have lots of content for you, Uh, in the upcoming weeks, months and years, as I think we work pretty well together.
Me and you have always had a pretty good banter, but the best, the best.
Well, anyway, like again, we're down to 19 minutes here, and there's other things I want to talk about as well.
So I think we can get back to Marc Andre Fleury at some point here maybe, um, in a different stream or on the podcast or something, but just want to throw a few stats out there.
Um, in the regular season, Marc Andre Fleury is fifth all time, fifth all time in wins with 466 in the regular season.
I guess these are all gonna be regular season stats.
Marc Andre Fleury is 37th all time.
Um, and but now keep in mind, he's played hundreds and hundreds of more more games and some of these guys above him.
He's played in 847 career games.
Ah, lot of these guys that are above him have played to hundreds, 403 hundreds.
So he's played three times as much ice time.
He still ranks 30.
What did I say? 37 overall with a 370.
913 save percentage? Um, shut out, he ranks.
Oh, dude, I mean, I'm telling you, Marc, Andre Fleury is one of he's one of the goat shoutouts.
He ranks 18th all time in the regular season with 61.
He ranks sixth all time in the parole office with 10.
I remember that from the article.
I mean, you could just go down, just go down the list and anything.
Any step that you wanna pull, Marc Andre Fleury is right there at the top.
I mean, let's talk about games played, especially when you compare the stats across the board.
So all these other guys he's 13th all time in games played with 847 13th all time, and that is that is that.
That's a great That's a great way to describe it.
He never gets injured.
He never missed his time.
He's always a reliable goaltender.
He's always in between the pipes like this is the first year of his career, really except for that one year when he was splitting time with Matt Murray.
This is the first year that he's not been like a 50 game type starter on, and these are all just regular season stats.
You can also go down the line in playoffs.
Marc Andre Fleury is right there as well.
I just flip the playoffs boom games played all time, fifth all time playoffs.
He's only beaten by Grant.
Fewer who is all the way back.
I guess he was born in the sixties, so he was back playing in, like the eighties and stuff.
And then these names at Bell for Martin, broader and Patrick.
I mean, if those were the all new names above you in a in a category of stats, I mean, yeah, you can't do it any better Goals against the average in the playoffs.
Marc Andre Fleury.
How Look at that Robin Liner.
Robin Letter is actually 12th all time.
That's funny from yeah, but again, again, we're talking 26 games compared to how many, um, compared to I'm trying to find Marc Andre Fleury right here.
So he's actually not in the top 50 for goals against in the playoffs.
But again, that's because ah, lot of these guys are Yeah, it's 20 games, 15 worms, 35 games And I mean, he started.
What do we say? 60 games in the playoffs? So again? I mean, Marc, Andre Fleury just doesn't know.
Excuse me, I was wrong.
Marc Andre Fleury has played in the playoffs.
I mean 114 146 playoff games, dude E So I mean, you just can't compare.
You just can't compare to a guy like Robin liner you can compare to a lot of guys.
I mean, Marc Andre Fleury is one of the gold.
It's plain and simple.
No matter how you look at it, no matter what's that.
You wanna look at braiding hoping actually right now is, uh, seventh.
A felt time in playoff save percentage and he's he's played 97 games, so that's actually a pretty good, pretty good sample size there.
Um, just one large one thing.
Yeah, he's horrible against the Penguins, but, I mean, it's like it's basically all time, your classical tenders, your best guys, and then there's, you know the big time names of recent times like you're took a Rask.
Brandon, help these Ben Bishop.
Um Jonathan Quick, Henrik Lundquist, like those guys are all up here and Marc Andre Fleury is in the mix with all of them.
The other thing, though, is that, you know, his game played his amount of ice time.
It just blows away all these other guys.
Vasilevskiy is up here, so and that's the thing that matters most to me, you know? I mean, if you're in the top, even 50 of stats, but you have played three or four times as much.
Actual Hocking is the other guys that are ahead of you like it's just like you said, Durable.
It's He's a level above.
He's a step above, and I hate to see him shoved aside like this again, especially after signing a brand new deal.
Um, man, it's just you're not in the face, honestly, like I mean, back in the face, you think about the Hall of Fame goalie and Marc Andre Fleury.
And like I said as a Washington Capitals fan playing the Penguins on multiple seasons, you know, I watch the watch the games every single time.
I mean, the sprawling saves.
You know, the glove saves the the sporadic, just outrageous brilliance of this guy.
And for them to just, you know, kind of just throw him to the wayside is just kind of a slap in the face.
And I feel like, um, for the next team that does get him because he is by far a future hall of family.
You just named him in the top 10 in almost every statistical category, I mean, and it's it's pretty evident that he's, if not the best goalie in the league with.
I mean, I'm talking about accolades right now. Currently, he is.
In my opinion, I don't think, you know, it's maybe if we could.
I mean, maybe Jonathan Quick in terms of, you know, winning Stanley Cups.
But I mean, other than that, I mean, Corey Crawford has what 33 Cups is well, but he doesn't have the personal played on such an amazing team.
And it's not like Marc.
Andre Fleury didn't play on a good team in the Penguins, but I mean, Corey Crawford was great at his height.
He was great, but he also was playing with you know, just phenomenal amazing talent and Patrick Kane and Jonathan Tase and and Patrick Sharp and all those guys.
And they had relatively easy, you know, opponents in the finals to like that that that year that they beat Philadelphia like the fires were absolutely no match for them.
Crawford, like, you know, it wasn't it wasn't because of Crawford that they want as much as it was because of Marc Andre Fleury that the depth of England's one.
I mean Marc Andre Fleury's he sticks all time and playoff shutout with 15.
I'm trying to find if I'm trying to find of Crawford's anywhere, even on this list E.
I mean, I don't see him.
I'm all the way down to, like top 50 here with five shots.
So that means that means Crawford.
Well, you know, while winning three Stanley Cups, which is great and all, he's not even in the top 50 and this cuts off at five playoff shut outs.
So it's like you're not even have five playoff shutout.
Yeah, where we talking about here? I mean, you can't You can't compare those two guys carry Price, obviously is really talented.
Doesn't have that it doesn't have the accolades.
Homeric Long course.
A legend doesn't have the same accolades.
I mean, my country flurries just aims.
One of the best is.
And for my money, he's, you know, maybe the second better.
Third best goalie of all time.
I gotta put Patrick Wall there just out of out of respect in second place.
Martin broader don't have e.
I mean, he's first.
Don't ever argue this with me.
Don't ever say anybody's first except for Martin Broader, because I I'll sit here and argue with you for 10 hours.
Martin broke her own every single record you could ever imagine.
He did it for longer.
He did it better.
Excuse me, Mark. Uh, wow, Martin.
Broader? Yeah, both.
My two favorite goal is French Canadians, but Marc Andre Fleury, probably third Patrick Wall.
Out of respect is second.
Um, I've always had kind of, ah, disdain for Patrick Wa because he is the argument against Martin broader like Oh, no, Martin Brodeur was not the best.
It's Patrick wa Well, voter came along.
He broke every single one of one of those records He has just as many Stanley Cups, his just as many or more con smarts.
I believe, um, he's got he broke His made his own records that wa has never even sniffed.
Like, don't come at me with a Patrick was better than Martin. Broader argument.
I will destroy you.
Uh, but we already had this conversation.
You know, I'm a big I mean, you you explained it so much, and we had an in depth conversation about my time broader.
You just told me how much you admire him being a goalie and, you know, watching him grow up having posters of him in your room, You know, you admire the guy, but, you know, the story that you told me about just out greatest status.
This guy, Martin Brodeur has is just outrageous.
So Patrick Raw is nice, though.
I mean, he's obviously I'm obviously I'm not putting him in front of Martin broader.
Just because I mean, as a you know, as a hockey guide, you just can't disrespect a certain greatness, a certain level of greatness, just like the great one.
You can't say that.
You know certain players about during an agreement because nobody is better than the great one.
So it just his levels, you know, and who knows? But just naming off those stats they like again.
Like I said, So reiterate what I just said earlier.
It's really a smack in the face tomorrow.
Yeah, because it's just another goalie and give him that much money.
It's just a goalie who's been a third string.
He's been the third string at, like two different stops.
Two different teams that he's been on like it doesn't make any sense.
We're very I don't know what they're thinking.
I don't know what Vegas is thinking, bro.
I mean, they have the talent, they have the team I love.
The pickup of Max Pacioretty and Mark Stone is well, I mean, they have.
They have a good core group.
I just think that they should have went in another direction with getting another goalie.
If you're going to go out and get a younger goalie, you should probably look out for maybe a corpus follow.
That's his name are Corpus Corpus solemn Korpisalo Gotta had 85 saves.
Yo, that was another for the forms against the life for the Columbus Blue Jackets do that. That is the best.
It was the best personal, best personal performance I've seen out of the goalie since.
Maybe, I mean, that's the best personal performance I've ever seen.
Live out of the goaltender.
Probably it was time.
I remember back.
I think it was back in the early early two thousands.
It was, uh, the Florida Panthers versus I believe, the Colorado Avalanche.
Patrick Wa versus John Van Bees, Brooke.
And they went to triple overtime.
It was a 00 game.
Brooke had, like, 70 something saves to um yeah, probably the Corpus Korpisalo.
Probably the best performance that I've ever seen Live might be the second best performance by a goaltender I've ever seen, Period.
I wanted I want 100.
Say it's bad, Like I'm telling you, I was watching the game.
Listen, my girlfriend, it's so funny.
I'm always around my girlfriend watching sports, you know? So she's just she's just in for it.
She's like, Oh, okay, there you go.
You're in your zone. I understand.
It's like a man cave thing, but I'm not in the man cave.
Haven't got that yet, but I will have one.
And you will be the first invited guests to be in the man cave.
And we're gonna host a podcast there.
Once our podcast close up and we get sponsored by cash up and we start getting that money rolling in, we're gonna have a sick ass little studio man cave. It's gonna be served.
But my girlfriend came out and she was just like she said. You're really watch.
This game was still on.
I was like, Babe, look how many shots the lightning have on that.
Is that like a typo or something? I was, like, No, Like, Riel.
And she came out of the room and it was, like, four hours later, like it was The game was so long.
I don't forget how many over time I went to like to write to 33 overtime, 45 overtimes, bro.
It was the longest game.
It was the It was the fourth longest game of all time.
And it missed the top three by, like, 2.
5 minutes or something like that.
Crazy Like I was just tuned in, like, what is going on? Like why? And then with the bubble, you can't you know, the other team that was waiting.
I think it was the cops that they put on the whole game.
It was Boston in Boston and Boston Bruins.
And, uh, no, they can't Carolina.
Oh, yeah, yeah, I think, um, yeah, I can't, man.
That seems like a long time ago already, but yeah, no there.
Like instead of making employees super late or like making the announcer stay or whatever.
After that, they were just like, Yeah, we're just gonna play tomorrow because it was crazy.
It was just too late.
It made a player like 10 in the morning or something like that was like, Wow, yo, playing a long game, they played nearly.
They played nearly three full hockey games because they played down towards like, it was like eight minutes left in the fifth over time or something.
So I played the entire first three periods an entire, you know, entire second hockey game, three overtimes in, and then they had another full period and, like 12 minutes of an additional period like that is so much hockey dude, especially for the goal is like, you know, that Korpisalo had to make, like, 30 more saves than invest Celeski did.
But I mean, both both goals were just ridiculous.
Yeah, Vasilevskiy, You know, congratulations to Tampa Bay Lightning.
They just want to Stanley Cup.
I give credit where credit is due the top of the realm and just couldn't get the job done.
But it was nice to see I I knew that they were gonna win it this year.
Honestly, like even with time was coming back in game friends going to go.
But then he couldn't play game for like I kinda knew.
And Game five I kind of knew that they just were the more talented team.
And Dallas just did not have enough firepower and their secondary, like the third or fourth from eyes.
They just weren't good enough to be ableto put up with the on slaughter.
That enlightening we're putting on well and without without could've been playing, you know, lights out, playing as good as he did.
I mean, they they had no business, really, even getting past, um, getting past Vegas.
They had been they were out shot in every single game.
The fit in words that Vegas thio eight goals in five games.
I mean, Las Vegas had was averaging.
Like I wrote an article on this two.
I think they were averaging, like 3.
4 goals a game coming into that Siri's.
And then they ended up scoring, like 1.
4 goals a game against Dallas so, like, But Dallas wasn't scoring that much, either.
Like they were winning each one of those names by one goal, you know, And like every every single game hit the under, it was just, I don't know.
They play, they put serious, but it wasn't like they looked like the much better team in that conference finals.
And then they got to play this powerhouse in the Tampa Bay Lightning, and it's like it was just it was over from the star tude, like they had no, no real shot against the Lightning.
They weren't even ever really in that Game six, they got heavily out shot.
They they didn't even have.
I think they had, like, 15 say or 15 shots going into the third period like they only lost two to nothing but the game itself was never really that close, and it's not like they made to Game seven, you know? But if you force a Game seven, you sorry what's happened, E.
Now the Stars were very sluggish, like they didn't have any legs escaped with at all.
Like the Lightning, where the faster team throughout the entire series, it just was never a close about.
And then even in the game was a Game four that they did.
Game five when Corey, when Corey Perry scored the overtime go, they were getting killed, honestly, And I was.
I was watching it with my mom, just like, Are we watching this right now? Like the Lightning should have one, like so I already had that happen.
The comparison that I give it is like Vegas, where the Los Angeles Clippers of the NHL it should it will, would have been a better.
It would have been a better situation.
Well, I guess not.
I guess it's not a different person.
Well, it is, but like I should have been the Clippers rest of Lakers instead of the Nuggets.
First, the Lakers.
If that makes sense, I feel like the clip but I don't know.
That's neither here nor there.
They took the hill, but, um, I feel like if the Vegas go to Nice May, it would have been a better Siri's because they can actually score and put out more goes then the Dallas Stars like right's just where I felt that the serious what kind of left for them in that aspect because they just couldn't shoot enough and actually skate faster than the Lightning.
Like Brandon Point was an absolute don't.
I thought he was gonna get the consummate he deserved.
The constants in my breaking point was, that's what Higher Stanley Cup playoffs? Yeah, that's what I thought, too.
And like, you know, he had missed those couple of games against the Islanders, and he still was leading the Lightning and all sorts of statistical categories.
I thought breaking point was for sure, gonna wrap up that, uh, consummate trophy.
But hey, I mean, the other thing was like, I really thought Andrei Vasilevskiy would step up.
I thought he would take the challenge.
Uh, that could have been put in front of them and just play whites out.
And I thought that Celeski was gonna win the consummate.
I even had a future bet on it, but it's like That's the whiskey played the worst.
I've seen him play in about two years in that Siris in that Dallas, Siri's and the Lightning still still won pretty easily.
So I mean, they're just better across the board, you know, talent, just the talent.
I mean, they all of their lines have at least two people on it that can go out and get you a go or or go out and be physical, you know you have.
And I give them all the credit in the world, Um, saying with the Lakers, because they're playing really good.
You know, they'd be my rockets in the second round, but they've been consistent like their old players are putting them numbers and they're making shots, and it's what you ultimately need.
So when the championship, I mean, you look at any championship same.
I always talk about this.
When we talk about championships, you have to, and then you can climb to that mountain top, get a championship, But until that happens until you know you have, every single person has given it 110% on the team.
It will not happen.
You just won't be successful.
And unfortunately, we are out of time already is I got to get on my other stream.
But like we have so much more to cover in the MBA.
I wanted to talk to you again.
Like I'm gonna say a lot of this for the podcast.
But I wanted to talk to you about when you went to the award show with Kayla and stuff.
Um, like, we have a lot to talk about.
S so I wanted to teams that as well.
Um, for those of you who don't know, Malik is lucky enough to be with a very, very talented lady friend who has been on Broadway.
She's been on Good morning, America.
Big things, uh, in her career up and coming.
Give her a shout out cork here.
Does she have on instagram or Twitter or something that you could follow? You can follow her on instagram on Twitter.
Um, at at the Kayla Wilcox in w I L c o x o n Everything is proper, and Kayla is spelled k h a i l a Sorry, babe, thinking about it right now, but it will be callable.
Everything is proper handily on you can also.
This podcast right here on duh like Jake said, is just that the sky is the limit for growth of us.
I mean, how many messages has it been? Dems on Twitter back and forth? Yeah, I know we finally pulled the trigger, and now I mean, it will be much more consistent.
It's not like it was, you know, hard to get together.
We just had to finally pick a time and do it, and it seemed like the right time.
I mean, like you said, both of us have been doing our own endeavors trying to get things figured out for ourselves.
But we're we're gonna die back in deep.
We're probably gonna do a lot of content here on SportsCastr.
Keep an eye out for the podcast coming as well, because I would really like to get that back up in the works.
And that's where we will talk further more about Kayla more about, like, personal stories and stuff instead of just lots of sports too.
But, um, lots of stuff about our past and about ourselves on.
We'll try and keep it.
More sports centric here on SportsCastr.
But, yeah, he got dressed up to the nines.
Was wearing a We're in a tux, or was it just a really nice suit? You are.
It was actually a piece by piece.
Is, um just put something e just gotta look handsome.
Had my actually, I had my slacks from the sports be because I bought I bought some, uh, Stacy Adams shoes.
Um, yeah, it was a regular regular white shirt at a you know, coat.
But it was a regular.
It wasn't nothing.
Nothing too big. Honestly.
God, the people didn't you know, they didn't know what I had on.
Yeah, you still look, It's not like you were the one walking the red carpet, so, you know. Yeah.
Look, I was just the, you know, the eye candy for her.
There you go there, Ugo.
A little teaser of Malik's time as the candy, uh, at a really legit award show in New York City.
I mean, I can't I can't wait to hear more about that stuff.
Yeah, and maybe, uh, I don't know.
Maybe if you got some pictures and stuff for that night, you can find a way to, like post those along with the, um, podcast when it comes around.
But, man, what we got a ton more to talk about? We didn't even touch on the n. C.
W. Football hardly talk down the MBA.
Maybe we'll get together tomorrow or for sure Monday before that Falcons Packers game.
We can preview the Falcons or Packers game, talk a bunch more about NBA talk.
A little Lakers talk a little LeBron and his legacy does this championship count.
What would it have been like? What would it have been like if there was no bubble? I mean, especially the Eastern Conference, Um, as this would be a little teaser for next time.
But the Eastern Conference, I believe, would have looked totally different.
I don't believe that he would have been nearly as dominant.
I believe it would have been the Celtics and the Bucks in the Eastern Conference finals.
I think the Bucks would have looked 100 times better than they did, um, in the bubble.
I mean, everything would've been different if there was no stoppage of play.
So lots more that we're going to get back to you on MBA and everything else.
Uh, Malik, nice to finally see and talk to you, my dude.
Um, well, yeah, plan on.
I guess those of you who are listening plan on hearing a lot and seeing a lot of me and Malik, I don't know, maybe maybe we'll try and work something out about, like, going live on, um, each one of our each one of our different accounts so that we're able to, you know, get traction to both of us.
Get us both out there because I don't wanna build a show just on my channel and then have your channel, you know, not have the the followers or the views or whatever.
So, um, expect Thio follow both Malik and I on SportsCastr follow us both on Twitter and Senior hit the show.
Come from either one of our channels, just depending on depending on the day and depending on who wants to host and stuff.
But anyway, I do have to run is I'm already five minutes late for my stream.
Um, go check out at Fleury Sports on SportsCastr here.
We're about to do our week for NFL betting show.
Um, my boss is Zach and my co host, Henry.
We're gonna break down every single game.
Talk spreads, talk unders, overs everything like that as we do every single week.
So that is over on.
Fleury, sports SportsCastr.
We'll be live in about five minutes over there.
So, Malik, thank you, my friend.
I'll talk to either tomorrow or Monday or whatever.
We'll get the podcast stuff figured out and, uh, yeah, right.
I've got a list of It's been Zibin So many months of so much that's happened for a life.
It really is the the minutes to two hours that we have spoken right now it's still even.
It's That's two hours.
It's been two hours.
No SportsCastr does this sometimes.
Where it adds, it adds, we've been live for 58 minutes.
The host always has the correct time, but sometimes the co host Yeah, it adds, because I've done like a two hour stream for Fleury before.
It'll say that we've been lying for almost four hours and stuff like No way, I'm already tripping.
I'm like, dang I know we've been talking.
I didn't know it was that long.
Now it's only been a now, er but that's the nice thing, too, is like you and I.
We don't even have to come prepared with anything we could, You know, we could usually do an hour like nothing, and they'd be like, Oh, ****.
We still have a lot of stuff we didn't even talk about.
Thank you all for tuning in.
Feel free to share this time round.
Follow Malik and I on SportsCastr and Twitter were up to 10 live viewers.
That's more than I expected.
So thank you all very much.
Malik and I will be back very soon.
Enjoy the football games tonight if you're watching or otherwise, uh, tweet us.
Uh, we'll be active on Twitter.
We both usually are.
So tweet us about the NFL tomorrow.
Neither of our teams are playing tomorrow, so we'll probably just be watching Red Zone or whatever the case is.
And then Monday maybe we can cook up a fun little bit between your Falcons and my packers.
On Monday, we'll come up with something so that all right, defender for fantasy football right now.
Honestly, I had to pick up.
What's his name? You guys? Third string s M V.
I picked him up, so hopefully he goes off.
I picked up Lazaro last week.
So I need your boy to go off this week for me, okay? I hope so, too, dude.
And, uh, Well, actually, e don't want it to happen, but for fantasies like, Oh, yeah, well, you want him to go off, but maybe have, like, I don't know, like, 250 yards, but zero touchdowns that would work for you or something like that.
I'll take I'll take two TDs and, like, 80 arts A za long as your Falcons are able to put more touchdowns.
Yeah, all you gotta do it.
Right? If we can win, we go about 30 and then blow it.
Yeah, that's one thing.
It's never over till it's over with my team, my team, my team.
Hey, let me talk about with All right.
Well, best of luck with fantasy tomorrow.
Dude, we will talk soon and thank you all for tuning in follow us at Sun holds on sport at sports.
I will be live in the next couple minutes over at Fleury Sports.
We'll see you there.
Catch you later, dude.
