and welcome back friends, as always, Adam arm wrecked, waiting in the wings.
Andy Mackiewicz as it is, the Friday's show.
And that, of course, means that it's time for us to think about the matchup ahead this week.
Week four in the NFL week for for Big Blue will be hoping that they can come away with some form of an upset victory out there in L.
Against the Rams.
And that means we'll be looking for some individuals to give us some insights.
And we certainly have those lined up for you a couple of quick notes before we get Andy in here along with our guests.
We mentioned on Wednesday's show that the Giants had gone out there and snagged Harper off the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad and you go back, ask some questions of Joe.
Judge what they think about him.
Certainly, they said they had.
They had their eye on him, going all the way back to the to the draft post draft and looking to acquire him, get him involved in the 53 man roster, get him involved in the practice squad.
Unfortunately, it did not happen that way, and that's all right.
You know, they finally got the opportunity.
Get their guy in here now.
Well, and then I talked about it.
You expect us to certainly utilize him.
But Joe Judge basically said he has good length.
Good range, likes to speed, but also considers them to be a developing players.
So not necessarily the thing you want to hear.
But when you're getting a guy off the practice squad, you can't really expect unless a za bad as maybe we think we've been or as thin as we are from a death perspective, you wouldn't expect him to come in necessarily with the Hey, this is a guy that can be an elite contributor across from Bradbury Day one.
But you do expect over the coming weeks for him to step into a role.
And hopefully, from a giant standpoint, let's just say maybe we can get there right? Maybe we can find a way to get this guy onto the field and give them an opportunity to build into ah, potential starting role for us going forward on this defense.
Thea Other thing is, as we think about heading out to l.
A couple of notes there Obviously, it's a long West Coast trip.
So Joe judges elected to keep the Giants on the East Coast until Saturday night, hoping to avoid transitioning into that West Coast time zone for a long as possible and then on the back end of it, he's also going to keep them there following the game.
Remember, it's a 405 start as far as their body clocks will feel like on Sunday.
So by the time that wraps up its Sunday night, they're gonna keep him there overnight and then look to come back mid day on Monday.
So hopefully mitigate some of the some of that fatigue that you see going out there and also coming back.
Give them a little bit of extra rest, as he put it, get getting all the guys a good night's sleep and then bring them home at some point mid a mid morning on Monday.
So just some of those travel notes for you as well.
Last but not least, before we get into our guest today, you think about the Giants in the NFC East, and as Andy has been trying to optimistic, Lee point out to me week after week here.
We're still in it. Friends.
We're not that far removed from the opportunity of getting involved in this of this division, the thing that you can like about it, when I look over at those points for and against the division.
So we obviously are sitting there in dead last.
As we all know, however, you are talking about a team that's given up 79 points over the first three weeks of the season.
And if you think about the fact that we gave up 36 here in Week three against the San Francisco 40 Niners, as bad as the performance as that was, and we debated about how much blame should fall defeat of the defense.
But 79 points against actually represents the fewest points in the division.
97 for the Cowboys, 87 for the Eagles and 81 4, by the way, the division leading Washington football team.
The points four is where we have struggled at 38 every team nearly doubling us.
Certainly you have 88 points for the cowboy, so they're just narrowly a plus one in that margin, 62 for Washington so well below their points against averages fighting the division and then 59 for the Eagles.
So listen, we're bottom of the barrel offensively right now.
We all understand that.
But even with a bad performance there in Week three from a final score standpoint, the defense has done things nicely over the first three weeks.
So hopefully, if this offense could just start to find a rhythm I'm not talking about right now in week for.
But over the course of this season, we can start to see that balance out a little bit, come to the middle there a little bit and give this team an opportunity to be in mortgage aims late and maybe give us a chance to even win a couple.
The last piece here, too, is that Jabrill Peppers is still ah, possibility to miss this game on Sunday.
So when asked about that, Joe Judge also said, Listen and fairly obvious, and Patrick Graham may have been the one that field this question off.
What are you gonna do to look to replace them? He immediately said, Listen, we're gonna go ahead and look at love, and we're gonna look at Logan Ryan and what you like about them is they're both physical players willing to get involved in the tackling game and be in support of the run.
Obviously, we know Logan Ryan is versatile, but if Peppers is going to miss this game on Sunday, then you're going to have to look on the outside, especially Attock cornerback position.
And maybe you will see a little bit of that baptism by fire for Harper.
If you got in a couple of nice practices, he could at least get into that mix there right now.
It would be eight.
Um, it would be Lewis in that rotational cast out there, Valentine falling out of and getting lesser and lesser reps.
They're on the outside as well.
So be interesting to see.
Be great if maybe just get a flash of Harper being on the field.
I'm not saying we want to see a make big plays or we're expecting him to play significant steps.
But just being on the field, just being on the field and letting us get a look at how he is physically, maybe how he matches up against the number two for the Rams.
But as we know there 12 punch is pretty significant.
Even their third punch in the wide receiver corps is strong.
Take a brief pause here and then welcome in my co host, Andy Mackiewicz, as well as some friends helping us preview that upcoming match up this weekend.
Four o'clock start on Sunday with the Los Angeles Rams.
And with that, we, of course, welcome into Jake and Alexis from the D. T R.
The downtown Rams podcast.
Thank you so much for coming on with Andy myself.
Thank you so much for having us. We appreciate it.
Yeah, thank you for having us.
We are, unfortunately on different end of the spectrum here, which has been the case more often than not, as New York football Giants fans.
But let's dive right into this thing as we look ahead to Sunday first late game matchup for the Giants at four o'clock.
The Rams team from last year to this year a lot of the same components, but expectations were probably the same spot last year.
They are this year, and yet they're having success.
So although this one out to Alexis first because she came into the chat first, prompt ready toe work.
Are you because, of course.
Do you? What? What team is coming in on Sunday? Is this exactly what you expected last year? And they're finally figuring it out this season.
Um, I think this this Rams team, there's a lot better than the Rams team from last year.
Like you said, they do have a lot of the same components, but I think a lot of it has to do with, um, just slight changes in coaching and game plan.
Um, you know, this Rand's team is honestly playing better than I expected them Thio so far this season, I know we're only going in a week for, um, you know, won their first two games.
Last week was a game they should have won.
It was a brutal loss against the Bills who are very good football team.
Don't get me wrong.
Even though we felt that the Rams should have won that game.
Um, so, you know, I think the Rams were gonna go in a week for with a little bit of a fire in them.
I think they're upset about what happened last week, and unfortunately, you know, for the Giants I think that they might be on the receiving end of a redemption game.
I guess you could say for the Rams, you could have said Beat down.
It's okay, We're not too precious here. We understand.
Yeah, I think it might be a little brutal for you guys, not the line.
That's more like we're getting really familiar with that kind of taste.
When you play the practice squad from the 40 Niners this past week and still managed, Thio lose 39 started.
And by the way, that's and that was the first time that I had to realize it was a bit of a wake up call.
Just in terms Off didn't have high expectations for the team this year, but did not anticipate that type of game against the 40 Niners in that condition.
Yeah, and and Jake, I think we can turn it over to you and one of the questions that we have is I don't know if this was the design all along, kind of having a little bit of a running back by committee.
You have three talented guys in Malcolm Brown and Can Makers and and Henderson was that kind of the design all along and to go with that.
Obviously, the wide receiving corps is extremely deep for the Rams, and you lock up Robert Woods to a contract extension.
You lock up Cooper Cup to a contract extension.
This seems like it's gonna be the wide receiving corps for the future.
Would you say either one of them is more important to how the Rams like toe operating? Like to play? Yeah, all great questions.
Um, you know, we'll start off first, you know, with the last one.
You said, you know, with Cooper Cup in and Robert Woods and I think you know, they both complement each other pretty well.
The thing about the Rams receiver group is it's very interchangeable.
You have guys that can play on the outside, they can play in the slot.
Um, pretty much if you can't do everything that's necessary to be wide out in this league, you can't be on Chamakh days offensive, you know, on his offense.
Um, what we've learned is that you know, Sean McVeigh wants guys that air well rounded.
He doesn't want a superstar wide receiver that can go up in, you know, high point.
The football but can't block.
You know he wants a guy that can do it all.
And that's the thing is, you know, Cooper Cup is gotten really good at that.
But Robert Woods was always good that, um, going back to his time with the Bills.
I said it Day one.
I still felt like he was the better receiver than Sammy Watkins.
And then, of course, the Rams went out and got Sammy Watkins, so that was kind of weird.
But, um, you know, I think Robert Woods is just somebody.
He kind of brings everything on the table.
Cooper Cup does as well, but I think Woods when you look at, you know, a Sfar Aziz, a wide receiver that does everything well, um, I think he's the most underrated receiver in the game.
I dio and you know, I think Tyler Lockett.
Metcalf, just throughout Tyler Lockett is the most underrated.
I would disagree because he's nowhere near the blocker.
Robert Woods is go back.
Last year against the Saints week to we were there.
We saw it in person.
Uh, Cooper Cup caught a touchdown.
Well, it wasn't a touchdown.
He got tackled it with one.
He broke multiple tackles.
It was an incredible play by Cooper Cup against the Saints.
Um, but part of what made that so incredible is when he watched it was number 17 Robert Woods.
He was tailing him all the way down field in a way that I've never seen a receiver do.
Hey, didn't have the ball in his hands.
Cooper Cup did, but he played until the final whistle.
He threw three blocks on that play, and I ended up getting down on the one yard line.
So I just love, you know, this is a really unselfish group.
I'd say Robert Woods is more valuable, just my personal opinion.
But, you know, they're one a one B if you really, you know, want to go there.
Um, this first running backs are concerned.
You know, I look at you know, the Rams had a plan coming in this year, I think when they saw Cam acres available, Uh, you know, we saw the videos, you know, that the rams put up um, and they showed, you know, every pick that they had.
They showed a scout and the zoom conference call that they had and there one scout that I really like.
Michael, he I think it was.
Michael appears I've actually member for a really nice guy.
Um, he said, you know, he has a chance.
Well, he you know, when it's all said and done, he believes that Acres has a chance to be better than swift by, you know, the end of their careers.
So, you know, they really liked acres.
Andi, it's hard not to, You know, I didn't like to pick.
Initially, I went back.
I watched Tends to kinda changed my mind.
You know, this is somebody that, you know, kind of brings it all to the table.
Um, he struggled early on in his career because he's literally had two games, one of which, you know, he was basically taken out of because he started off well and, you know, then had the rib injuries.
So, you know, you feel for acres because, you know, at the end of the day, I think Darryl Henderson over anybody right now is the way to go running back by committee works.
But as you saw with the 40 Niners, one guy stood out more than anybody.
And it wasn't guy that anybody was thinking of, right? You know, you look at Tevin Coleman.
Um, and you're thinking, okay, It's gonna be Tevin Coleman.
Or, you know, maybe Jeffrey Wilson the way he was able to play.
Um, but no, it wasn't map Rita, either.
It was Raheem Mostert.
He took over in that backfield.
He used the star of that backfield, although he was out last week.
Um, and I think Henderson is becoming the star in this back field.
Use my number one running back in 2019 for a reason.
You watch him, you know, you watch him and you had Anthony Jones Jr.
Who is the Memphis running back coach on the show.
Um, he's not only do an incredible job or he's done an incredible job with Antonio Gibson, who just came into this draft, um, and Darryl Henderson.
But he has another kid by the name of Kenneth Game.
Well, that you'll want to check next draft.
So, you know, it's a running back factory over there.
People are now starting to realize it, and it's not a surprise to me that Henderson's emerged here, and I think in this one he's gonna eat.
You know, it's not eso similar to the Giants.
You don't know if it's going to be the guy they picked up off the street. Devante Freeman.
Could it be an exclusively pass catching running back in Lewis? Could it be? Journeymen can't seem to get on the field for reps. Wing governments.
It's just like for like all the way down the roster.
When you look at the Rams and the Giants, I don't know how.
Listen, I would I'll trade you.
I'll give you guys, you know, we could swap running backs.
I think that'd be just about equal there.
But that's one of the things that we've noticed.
Certainly when you think about other teams, we go back.
Even though last week in the 40 Niners quality of play and consistency and coaching and experience, you know, the better teams in the league have really good depth and have the ability to rotate through.
So when you have running backs like you guys have who may be dealt with some injuries, you see how effectively the next man can step up now.
Ultimately, you hope that one of them, maybe bubbles to the surface and becomes the dominant running back for you.
And you have these complimentary pieces.
But even if they don't, as long as everyone has their skill set and continues to help move that offense, you're more than happy to be living with with multiple guys there in the backfield.
Just pivot over to the quarterback side of things before we dive in. Alexis, I know.
I just wanna make sure that the people have a clear sense off your If you had your druthers, you would go into retirement and pull Jay Cutler out of his foxhole and you would send Jerry golf to the curb and you would get this man under center for the for the L.
I just wanna make sure that people understand how disgusted you are with what you have and how badly you wish you had a Chicago product.
Yeah, e think you got it a little bit wrong there.
Um, I, um, feel actually the exact opposite of what you just said.
Use the notes a little bit here, but yeah, let me bring in a in a better way.
That is actually the truth you have, You have Jared Goff.
Obviously, I assume that you're a fan of him.
But in the first three games of this season, he is now completing 70% of his passes in his career.
He's never gone over 64.9.
Is this Now do you look at Jared Golf? Did you look at him already as being the answer a quarterback for the Rams? Or is this first three games sample size? Hopefully, the trend for him in being that higher level, high completion percentage, I think he's up near almost nine yards per completion.
So everything is trending in the right direction.
Is this him finally clicking in this offense? Yeah, I think you know, I think what? Jared Goff.
The thing is, you know, he he had a really good year.
So the year that the Rams went to the Super Bowl um, Jared Goff, as well as the entire Rams offense really played amazing.
I mean, that was Ah, great year for the Rams.
Their offense was on fire.
And then last year you saw really big regression, um, with Jared Goff as well as the rest of the Rams offense, and there's a lot of reasons, I think, for that, Um, I think a huge reason for Jared Goff not having a good year last year was the Rams offensive line. Couldn't get it together.
Um, that was really the first year in Jared golf's career.
You could argue that he didn't have great protection up front.
It was was new for him.
Um, it took a while for him to kind of, you know, figure out how toe make accurate throws under immense pressure.
Um, because, you know, for the majority last season, he did not have much time to throw the football and he had a really hard time figuring that out.
Eso going into this season? You know, I think a lot of us Rams fans had some doubts about Jared Goff and and we wanted to believe that he was the guy.
But, you know, after last season, there was certainly a little bit of doubt.
Um, but I think a lot of us also kind of recognized.
At least I did on I know Jake Dida's well that if the offensive line could could solidify itself and start um, playing up to par that we thought that that would help him tremendously.
And that's exactly what's happened.
Are offensive line has played great so far the first three games of the season, and that has allowed Jared Teoh be able to make accurate passes and make better decisions? Um, so, yeah, I do think he's the guy going forward.
Um, you know, obviously we're only three games into this season.
Anything could happen.
I mean, of course, there's always that chance that starting this week and rest this season, he just completely goes off the deep end.
And if he does, then you know, I think that that's probably a pretty clear indication that we should look somewhere else.
But I don't think that that's gonna happen.
I think that he's gonna figure it out.
Um, and I think that he's only if everyone keeps playing the way that they've been playing, um including him.
I think that he's just gonna get better as the season goes on and I know and he's got the next question up here.
But there's something about that in the NFL in general, right? The timetable of when a quarterback needs to figure things out.
It used to be, you're going to sit behind and learn from someone else.
Then a transition to Well, we're gonna throw in early because that's how you get the experience.
But now it's even ramped up mawr than that where if in your second year you're not having substantial success, and we're experiencing that right now.
Even with Daniel Jones early in his second season, Sam Donald, right across the stadium from us.
When you look at the team around them, you go.
Yeah, well, it's hard to evaluate talent when you're not sure what else you have there on a roster.
So you know, from a Jared golf standpoint, I still look at him, and I probably from afar was up and down on him, especially last season.
But you look at a player like that and you say, Here's a guy that's just about to by NFL standards start to hit what should be the prime off his NFL quarterback career.
So this is where you wanted to launch off and really start to show you that five year window where he's arguably gets mentioned in those upper echelon a Q B.
So, uh, at the very least, I always root for guys and I feel like a soon as it starts to go turn negative collectively around the NFL.
That's right when I want to go.
All right, Jared Goff, Let's see you come out and really show something.
I hope the same thing for a mental Travis Key and that, unfortunately, didn't go didn't go so well for him.
But it is that it's the unfortunate nature of the NFL.
I mean, yeah, I definitely think that we'll see.
I think I think a lot of people felt going into this season that this was kind of a make it or break its season for Jared Goff because you know he has.
He has the tools around him now, So it is on him, and I think so far he's he's played well.
But, you know, we'll see how the rest of season goes.
Yeah, and what's interesting? Uh, you know, talking about Jared Goff.
He got his contract extension taking care of the ramps have been really good about taking care of their players and taking care of them early.
I think that's an important distinction that you know, someone like Dallas may want to take note of considering.
Now they're in a whole mess with someone like that. Prescott.
Um, you know, they took care of of Cooper Cup.
They took care of Robert Woods.
We moved to the defensive side of the ball.
I think all giant fans know that you have to all pro all world players in Aaron, Donald and Jalen Ramsey, who both, by the way, got locked up the long term contracts as well. So there's.
There's some consistency on how they do business with their best players.
You know, outside of Aaron, Donald and Jalen Ramsey, Can you talk about maybe players that are on the defensive side of the ball that giant fans may look and say, Whoa, like I only knew about those two guys.
I didn't know that Michael brokers jumped off the screen the way that he did.
I didn't know that this person, you know, was able Thio cover the way they can in the secondary.
Is there anyone that Jonathan should be looking for on Sunday that maybe you think it's worth worth noting? Yeah, it's definitely a good question.
Um, you know, past Rams, I would probably have said Corey Littleton.
Um, right now you're looking at Michael Kaiser and Kenny Young.
Um, Kaiser just had, like, a 15 tackle game two weeks ago.
Um, was the NFC Defensive Player of the week.
Kenny Young, with his athleticism, his sideline to sideline ability.
He's actually graded out as a higher linebacker by Pff than Michael Kaiser.
Um, but I think you really have to turn to safety.
Jordan Fuller has absolutely blown me away.
Um, he's a rookie.
The Rams grabbed him in the sixth round, was not a fan of the pick at all, But then again, I wasn't a fan of John Johnson picks.
So I can't evaluate safeties, apparently, but, uh, but, you know, what can I say? Jordan Fuller.
He comes in, uh, sixth round pick at Ohio State.
You know, considered.
Okay, this is the guy That would be like a special teamer.
No, he was getting first team reps when Taylor wrap their second round pick last year out of Washington was banged up, and we didn't realize the extent of that.
He has taken over the strong safety position from Taylor Rapp entirely.
Um, Taylor Rapp is more of a pseudo linebacker, and they do use him.
But they used him a lot more against the Bills.
And I mean, rightfully so.
Because Jordan Fuller, um, was injured early on that game.
He is expected to be a go against the Giants.
I'm really interested to see, uh, Terrell Burgess.
Okay, he is a third rounder.
Um, he's the one that Alexis and I are.
You know, we're we really, like, obviously, is a player, but as a person, he's been on our show.
Um, you know that he came from Utah, you know, somebody that can play kind of all over the the secondary.
And I'm really curious to see him because, unfortunately, he didn't really get a huge opportunity to start with season.
Um, Jordan Fuller kind of overshadowed him, and then the same breath.
You look at him and in the, you know, Week three game against the Bills.
And yes, unfortunately, he was the guy that slipped down on the 3rd and 22 that they converted eso.
You know, that's that's, you know, hard knocks there, but you know, to come back this week and we'll see if we'll have more of a role.
But, you know, I think in the secondary.
I mean, you know Darius Williams.
You probably know who he is.
Based on that, um, that call at the end of the game.
Him and Gabriel Davis.
Um I know people already like, Okay, he's just a guy, but various Williams is a guy.
Um, you know, he was with the Baltimore Ravens UDF at a u A B.
And they really liked him.
But Jimmy Smith, I'm sure you know of, um, pretty big name corner.
He was coming off the IR or the suspension list.
I don't remember which one.
Um, but the Ravens tried to sneak Darius Williams onto their practice squad.
So after weak one, they threw him, uh, you know, and waivers trying to get him to pass.
And the rand's just don't allow that.
So they picked him up.
Um, they've done it numerous times, But, you know, Darius Williams is someone they liked enough to basically go ahead and let him play the last quarter of last year.
And he was the highest graded cornerback.
Um, I had a Jalen Ramsey by Pff last year, so they really like him.
He's starting and they're using Troy Hill in the nickel, but those air some names for you, defensive line and edge defense.
I mean, that's I'd probably say that's the weakness for the rims right now.
Didn't expect me to say that.
I thought the linebackers would be a weakness, but they're getting hardly any edge pressure.
Um, there were 26th in the league.
I believe on Ben Pass Rush efficiency there like 31st.
So, um, you know, that's a good thing for the Giants.
We couldn't be any more appreciative of a defensive front that maybe can take it a little bit easier on primarily young learning, growing, trying to figure new positions, all that kind of stuff across our line.
Eso plenty plenty for the Giants fans to digest there.
In terms of weapons, though, even if it's not gonna be right there up front and in Daniel Jones face.
Before we get into predictions around the Sunday matchup, we usually throw out the idea of Hey, what? What really scares you when you look over at the New York football giants? Unfortunately, and I'll throw it out there for you.
I love to hear the take, but we know that there isn't really a lot to be scared of when you look at the Giants right now, Is there any player, even just individually where you go? Maybe if we're thinking about defensively locking somebody up on the Giants or on the other side, Is there a name or a player that you think? Let's just make sure we remove him, not let this guy have a big day on either side of the ball.
Alexis, you know something that worries me a little bit with this Rams team, Um, is the run defense? The run defense has not been good for the Rams all year.
Um, I mean, there's I personally can't really figure out why.
I mean, there's a few things, but regardless, the run defense hasn't been good for the Rams.
I know you guys are missing your your main running back.
You know, Se**** Barkley, who, in my opinion, is the most talented running back in the NFL.
Let me add, um, but, uh, you know, you guys still, like you said you kind of have that running back by committee right now, going kind of like we have, and I just I'm worried I want to see if the Rams can correct that, Um, this game.
So, you know, I wanna be surprised if you guys have a good day running the ball. Just based off the with.
The Rams have been playing with their run defense assed faras.
Um you know, uh, you guys defense.
I actually think you guys have a pretty pretty solid, I guess.
Um, so, you know, I could see that being an issue again.
I think it's going to be a game, or I'm curious to see if our offensive line plays well, because if they don't, I could see your defensive line having a big game.
You know, it's it's funny that you say that because when Adam and I were talking about doing some of the scouting for for the pregame for the Rams, you know, we look at you know James Bradberry on our, you know, on our team as our our stalwart cornerback.
He's looked amazing so far this year, But the problem with the Rams, as we just highlighted before, is the depth at wide receiver.
So you know, if they if they decide to take, try to take away Cooper couple.
They try to take away Robert Woods.
You know you have. Reynolds is sitting behind them.
There's so many different weapons, you know, even Higby over the center for you creates matchup problems for the Giants.
So, you know, for us, our strength is not really something that we can hang our hat on in this game.
Knowing the depth all over the field, on offense.
I definitely it's going to be interesting.
I mean, I think, you know, I think the Rams might get the better of the match ups this week.
But, you know, I think there's definitely some areas that the Giants could take advantage of.
Listen, when you're starting a different guy announced at the outside cornerback position on a week to week basis for the first three weeks this season, that should be confidence for a fan base.
I don't you know, Andy.
I just feel like you're reading the room wrong, buddy.
We just signed awful Las Vegas practice squad.
Harper's gonna come in here from practice squads, a 53 man.
That's how the Giants do things.
So he's gonna shut down Robert Woods in our game is that what we're saying? Moderate Harper's gonna shut down Robert Woods.
Well, this has been, by the way, because I've had to come back from a ledge like last week's game.
A Sfar, as it goes, sent me about his deep down a spiral as I could have, because going into what I just thought, win or lose, I just thought, Well, let's build some confidence, your friends.
And that was just so demoralizing that the typically the roles have been reversed here, where Andy was trying to like No, man, listen, there's still winnable games.
We get Washington twice.
We'll get Philadelphia like you could still win some games this year.
And I am Yeah, about as big a pit of despair and I'm pulling at straws.
You around practice squad players that were grabbing on a Tuesday and saying, Listen, maybe they get to the starting lineup way.
Anything could happen.
Friends way get you out the door here on our of course predictions where, as you may suspect, the Giants or not favored in this one, Uh, the over under is set on 48 going out to the West Coast, obviously, so travel, usually hurts.
We want of any necessarily crowd noise to contend with the way you normally would.
But my New York football giants, our New York football Giants Andy getting the 13 points in this one.
Where do you guys stand? You go collective here as far as your predictions.
Or do you guys split the pot usually and get a little diversity in terms of how you think a game's gonna go? Usually it's different, but I like, you know, let Jacob All right, let's see Jake hot Steve for you then, sir.
All right, Well, you guys, I feel so bad because it's like the Giants.
This is the worst possible.
This is probably the worst team to play at this one.
E mean, I hate to do this because I'm wearing a Great Danes sweatshirt, and I'm sure there's probably you Albany fans like Come on, you're not about to crap all over New York.
But look, I'll be honest with you guys.
I was at the game when the Rams, 1 51 to 17.
This is a better team than that team, Um, and the Giants.
They're a lot worse, I think, now, than they were then without, say, Kwan Barkley.
Um, what I will say is, when I look at this defense, you know, I really like Blake Martinez.
I don't know why other teams didn't go after him.
I think he was a steal.
I thought the Packers were kind of dumb to not keep him that defensive line, you know, with extra Lawrence and Dalvin Tomlinson.
And you know Leonard Williams and B.
I mean, you know, they have players that I like.
And then on deep on the offensive side, you know, Alexis and I are big fans of Darius Layton.
So, um, you know, you got my guy Matt Parrot in the third round.
Um, I don't believe he plays.
I think Cameron Fleming plays for some reason, but news about that, too.
So you know, there's there's talent here, and so it pains me to say this, but the Giants air literally playing the worst team they could possibly play right now, the Rams air coming off a game in which they came storming back.
They scored 29 unanswered points only for the ending to result in, you know, you know the call eso you know to do that Going back to back weeks on because of co vid you couldn't stay out on the East Coast, so they, you know, they beat down Philly, and then they had to go back to L A and then re prepare and then go back toe the East Coast stands buffalo on Ben lose the way they did.
No, I I don't think like I said that the Giants going to L.
The Rams get to come back to L.
For the first time since three opener where they, you know, beat the Dallas Cowboys.
This is my first blowout prediction.
I will say this.
I've kept them relatively close, but I just to me, I think this defense is good.
I don't think they're bad defense and Trauma based said that, you know, this is gonna be a hard defense toe to plan around.
James Bradbury is playing phenomenal.
I'm a big fan of Corey Valentine.
Saw him at the Senior Bowl.
I mean, the kid can play, um, you know, and obviously you guys got Logan.
Darnay Holmes is another Senior Bowl guy I really liked.
And you know, Julian Love is somebody.
Alexis loves, and, you know, I think there's talent here, but unfortunately, I think the problem is the offense is just not potent enough.
And so, you know, the time of possession kills your defense around the field the whole game.
And that's what's gonna end up being, you know, the downfall here.
So I have the Rams.
I have the Rams 45 to 10 and they finally hit the forties.
Been thinking they might do that this year.
I won't give them 51.
I'm not gonna do that to you guys.
Like because you already saw that happen.
So we'll stay away from the 51.
But I think 45 to 10 is fair.
This is gonna be a ****ed off Rams team.
I don't see how you're going to stop Darryl Henderson.
Uh, the Bills defense is a lot better.
I think they're one of the best defense in football.
And they couldn't stop Gerald Henderson.
Three Only time Darryl Henderson got stopped was when McVeigh stopped himself.
So, you know, I e don't bury the lead here, man.
We're going to score a touchdown this game.
10 points. Yeah.
Back up here. We would. 16.
You're telling us, were on an upswing.
This is what we're talking about. This is positivity.
He watched the bars King score against that team back in 2017.
It's possible, man, I I think two bars King e mean he'd be the worst wide receiver on this team.
So I guess you have that going for I'm a big fan of Rat Lee, By the way, I'm glad he's getting opportunity X.
Well, Jake, you're also a gentleman because you gave Alexis the opportunity to call the upset on the one giant podcast you didn't.
You didn't steal her thunder.
So I I appreciate that you went completely in the Rams direction.
Tell a giant fans what they want to hear.
Um, I have it 28 to 7 rams so that you should take that as a compliment.
Here's the thing.
Um, I think it's very likely that it's more than that.
Um, but, you know, I think it might be a game that I think that the maybe the Giants defense plays.
Well, I don't I just When I make tea, it will e just like to close my eyes and whatever number comes to me, I just pick it.
So I you know, if it makes sense, I go with it and it's 27.
Um, always, always thank you so much.
Always consider doing what I dio when we get into prediction times around the game.
I like to tell Andy before we record what I'm gonna go with.
Then I switch it when it comes time for me to make my prediction.
But before I finish making my prediction, I also readjust one last time.
So I like to really screw with Andy's head and also my own when I try to figure out what the Giants are going to dio.
Listen, there's nothing shocking there.
I think Andy and I will be doing.
We put out our predictions come Sunday morning, so we'll be trying to massage our way to at least something more competitive.
But I think I'll leave it to Andy to say his own take on this.
But if the Giants could even lose the game 38 to 17 or you know something that range really from an offensive standpoint where you see a couple of touchdowns and you see some positive on that side of the ball when you're going three.
When you're in a rebuilding situations, the Giants are you just looking for for something positive and consistency, and so far, we've really we're seeing consistency is just going the wrong direction.
So I think that we love to see ourselves bubble up towards that 17 to 20 kind of range.
But I'll be hard pressure come Sunday to put anything out there beyond I mean 20.
Yeah, you're going to surrender points to the rand.
I just don't see a way around it.
Yeah, and toe Adam's point.
It's a sad state of affairs when we're not counting the end win loss column and what the final score is.
And we're just trying toe trying to grasp and clutch at straws to say, like, Look, we scored an offensive touchdown.
Look, we got a three and out Look, they actually punted once in the game, which is something that the 40 Niners did not do last week against you guys.
We were there with the ST Louis Rams, you know? I mean, it was it was Oh, you know, our punter is R M V.
p Dhani Jones like, Oh my God, no one has ever seen anything like Donny Jones.
And like it was it was just crazy.
I mean, just like looking back, you know, And the thing is like I realized that these players are obviously in the NFL.
So there, top of the line players, because you won't be in the NFL if you weren't.
But it's like looking back.
I mean, the wide receivers, I mean, not to throw shade, but like Brandon Gibson was their number one receiver, Danny Amendola, who do still going strong.
Um, but, you know, we were so excited for DiNardo Alexander, who had, like, seven knee operations and I still think if injuries didn't exist, he'd be Randy Moss.
But that's just me.
But it just kind of goes to show you, you know, now that you have Jared Goff, Robert Woods, you have all these, you know, crazy stars.
It's like man, if you took us back to when we were watching the ST Louis Rams and you gave us Jared Goff, it would have been a lot different.
Jake, if not for injuries, I was going to be Julian Edelman, so I mean we can haul sit here and talk about what could have been.
You probably were.
I'll tell you guys, this, uh, this might make you guys a little bit happy, but I before the season began, um, I actually had the Giants winning the NFC East, and Jake can attest to that.
I I had been saying that all summer I truly believed it.
The honest thing, this game.
And she had Barkley going off well, but I did what I did.
Not for nothing when we talked about the schedule overall, When we got to the Rams, I said, You know, you go back to last year.
They just They were supposed to be so much better than they were like, maybe they're regressing a little bit.
And thankfully, there was three games before we got to this so that I had time to digest it and not fall into that trap.
But this was one of those games where I said, Oh, if the Giants air, you know, progressing nicely, this could be a really competitive, exciting game toe watch that was sadly mistaken.
I think I think that went out the window, but you know, it's just, um it is unfortunate because Alexis, although all of a sudden all of a sudden I realized I'm getting Zinc here, left and right by Alexis.
She's very subtle with it, but it is driving into the core of May, not the first person who said that.
It's an interesting quality that I have, but but, I mean, I mean it out of sincerity when I say that, I really think that the the Giants are very talented team.
Um, I really do think that when I looked at the NFC East now I understand that the NFC East is probably the worst division of football.
I think you guys probably would agree with that, but I really looking at the NFC East.
I really felt talent wise that the Giants had the most talent and it's unfortunate.
Injuries just suck.
I mean, that's just the nature of the game.
And you know, you guys are feeling it this season and I do feel bad, um, for you guys because I do think that that you guys have have something special building and, um, you know, you might not.
You might have to wait till next season now to kind of see the fruits of that.
But you know what? It happens we've been there is Jake, said his Rams fans.
It was like a 10 year period for us.
I hope it's not as long for you guys, but I don't think it will be.
I think you don't be like this season, and I think by next season, when you've everyone back a good team, we'll keep this one thing in mind.
You know, as I know, Adam wants to wrap up.
Just remember that this matchup between these two teams each team is only one game out of being tied for the division lead.
Same same, but just slightly different friends.
We could not be any more appreciative to have had Alexis and Jake in from the d T r Downtown Rams podcast.
Where is everybody? Follow you there anywhere that they should be sourcing fantastic information cause you guys are clearly doing not just the Rams coverage, but you're going layers deep into college ****ysis coaches from the past and really, really giving everyone some great background on a lot of the weapons for this team.
Yeah, well, you know, I appreciate that.
Obviously, you know, we both dio you confined me at jk Bogan d tsn you confined our downtown rams page at downtown rams.
Those on Twitter, um, we're part of at D T.
Sports networks were part of downtown sports network.
You confined downtown rams dot com is where you find all our information.
Um, for, you know, just football information in general Downtown sports network dot com.
Um, but yeah, that that's where you combine our stuff.
And of course, you know, we're on Instagram and Facebook as well, and I'll leave the rest of Alexis.
Yeah, And you can just find me on Twitter at the Alexis craft.
Um, that's craft with a K, um and, yeah, give me a follow on there if you are interested.
And it's a terrifying experience, but, um, you know, every once in a while I have some good quality sports related tweets, so check that out.
I mean, Alexis Alexis has a picture.
Alexis has a picture of Aaron Donald kissing a dolphin on her twitter, so make sure to follow a Donald beauty shop.
Yeah, while the dolphin picture, uh, Eric, a dolphin kissing her and Donald.
That's the most pure photo that I've ever seen.
It's amazing and it's been my it's literally been my Twitter cover picture, I think, for like three years legitimately now over there, that is not worth of follow friends.
I don't know what is thanks again to DPR downtown men's podcast, and hopefully they are just so, so wrong.
Come Sunday, friends.
So as Andy ushers our guests off who are fantastic, really giving us, ah, lot of look inside there at the Rams, I think from the outside looking in, you know that this is gonna be a difficult matchup, so you obviously can follow us on social media.
One giant podcast.
We can remind you that we are featured podcast right here on SportsCastr coming to you live every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 8:30 a.
m. Bright and early friends on.
Then listen on the way out the door here.
One final note to consider coming out of that Thursday night matchup between the Jets and the Broncos.
Obviously, a couple players got dinged up on that surface in spite of the review by the league, saying that the field is acceptable, there's nothing wrong with it following the 40 Niners and obviously some of their complaints about the surface there.
There is some speculation, though.
The NFL is going toe ultimately call for the replacement of turf with a natural field there, uh, for the Giants and Jets combined in their home stadium.
So something to keep an eye on here.
The Giants haven't really suffered any injuries from that surface.
We haven't seen as many ones for the Jets, either.
But that could be because of familiarity with that surface, as opposed to being a team coming in and not being ready to play.
What could be a difficult surface and potentially could be causing some injuries.
That's that final little little footnote there to send you into the weekend, of course, download rate review and subscribe to the podcast we will be in on social Media.
If not back on here is well, doing our Sunday picks.
Please check in with us. They're talking fantasy.
Maybe there's a couple of sleepers in this Rams game on either side of the ball that Andy and myself want you to check out until next time.
And on behalf of Andy Mackiewicz, let's go Big Blue
