welcome the Laker room podcast.
I'm your host, Reggie, and I like to thank you guys for tuning in today.
I hope you got that all.
Having a great night so far.
I mean, after that win last night from our Lakers, I mean, we all should be doing pretty **** well, um, in that facet, But if you're not, hopefully whatever you're going through will get better.
So I came up with this thing that now, for the finals, I'm going to go live, um, do a live stream after every finals game.
Not right after the game.
But like today how the game was yesterday.
Ah, livestream slash podcast, Um, the next day for a game recap.
So I don't know if I said it.
I'm your host, Reggie.
I'd like to thank you guys for tuning in today.
Of course, you all know who I am if you have been listening.
But a those of you that are new to the channel now you know who I am.
So the first thing I want to get into, man, we won.
We beat the heat last night in convincing fashion.
Um, I'm proud I'm proud of that.
That when it's except for the last The last quarter.
I'm not so proud off.
Um, definitely can do better there, but we'll get into that later on.
So I want to talk about Of course, the player stats.
Uh, wanna talk about Miami Heat, the injuries.
I want to talk about, um this the game overall, what we could do better because we can believe it or not.
Even though we won in a great way, we could actually do better.
We could actually do better because we did fall in the hole 23 to 10 so we can definitely do better.
But first and foremost, you already know wherever, however you're tuning into this podcast, you should take a moment and checkouts.

So yeah, that's what I was saying This is a good game for us.
A very, very good game for us way Probably Some people probably didn't even watch the whole game because it was done.
It was done about fourth quarter, but again, like I said, we'll get into that fourth quarter a little bit later towards the end of the episode.
Um, the first thing I want to say is I hope that the Miami Heat players held up well, who was it? It was going tragic.
And Jimmy Butler tweaked his ankle.
And, of course, band Maada Bio.
Hey, had a neck, a next train.
I believe that's what the Miami Heat is calling it.
So prayers up to them.
Hopefully, you know, speedy recovery because I hate injuries.
I don't wish that on nobody.
I wanted to be able to win and be the team fully healthy.
I don't want nobody talking about A This person was hurt.
That person was hurt, but it's a part of the game.
At the end of the day is a part of game is not something that we can control.
Um, you never know when it could happen, and I just hope those guys speed up speed, get a speedy recovery and get back to the court soon.
If not, you know we'll see them next season in January.
So again, hopefully we don't get no more injuries from either team.
Hopefully, everybody make it out of this.
Siri's healthy and just, you know, go to go.
Hopefully we make it out with a championship.
But you know, first and foremost, we want everybody to be healthy.
So your boy, baby, let's talk about 81st off a d had himself tonight.
See if you guys listen to my last podcast I did with Ethan from the Ethan and Mike Sports show.
He's a he's a Miami Heat fan and we're talking and we're discussing the X Factors, right? And I'm like, Well, of course a D is gonna be X factor and then bam.
But you know, I didn't I knew he was gonna be expected, but it was like, Yo, this dude is a man amongst boys.
They are so small.
And I forgot to mention the fact that he don't have a center like at all like bandits.
What, essentially, they center.
But he's not holding a baby like that you got Kelly Olynyk.
He's the shooter, but his defense ain't there.
So you know when you don't we dump into a D.
You got all these little players trying to guard him.
He got three and four players running at him and he kicks it out.
So our shooters and luckily, our shooters are making their shots and making them pay for this triple double team that they're doing.
And then, if you're not doing that, your voice is shooting over him and getting his buckets right.
So I feel like Miami does not have an answer for a be like, Who could somebody tell me who on Miami can stop, baby? Just one flare.
I mean, you try to put Jimmy on him.
Jimmy is a solid defender, right? But he's just too small.
And then you go ahead and you put Eddie same the same thing that they're too small.
They can't They can't hold this, man.
This dude, this 6 11 can shoot from the inside or the outside.
So how are you supposed to combat that? First off that everybody in the NBA issue everybody issue was Who's going to stop 80 and nobody yet have been able to stop him.
You know, and it's That's everybody's problem, this small ball thing.
Everybody's like, Let's go small, It's not you.
The center and the Lakers is doing the total opposite, and it's like, How do you guard them like this whole team is huge.
You know you got Brian 69 at the point guard.
You know, a B 6 11 and then you bring the white 6 10 like this team is trying.
They're hard to score on if you're trying to go in the paint and stuff like that.
So you have to really outshoot the Lakers literally outshoot them, and your defense have to be on point.
Any slip in your defense, they're going the other way.
They're literally going the other way.
There is no there is no ifs, ands or buts about it.
Maybe sometimes hearing there, you get a KCP layup. He'll miss.
But they're going the other way and fast, too.
I think they score the most fast break points in the league in the playoff or something like that, but they have a crazy stuff like that and it's just like you have to be on your P's and Q's.
And, like Jimmy, Butler said, you gotta play a **** near perfect game against the Lakers before straight games before straight games.
Or you better hope these guys, they're not on shooting threes, but it's a hard team to defend and that they're still not getting that credit.
You know, you still got you still got fans out there.
They're saying, Oh, well, you know, this is a cakewalk.
How is this a cakewalk? I need to know.
How is this a cake or you have a generational type of player and Anthony Davis on your team? That's not a cakewalk.
It's just the talent.
It's just the team that they put together, right? I don't understand that, Um, but going back to a B this the A B I like to see this is the I D.
I like to see very aggressive getting his every time.
He's dunking the ball, yelling, hitting his chest and all this stuff he's not.
He's not playing passive or anything like that.
He is ready to go.
He's in go mode because it's the finals.
You leave it all out there on the floor and this is what this team did last night, and I'm proud of him in that fact.
They left it all out on the floor.
Um, they hate him in general.
Hey, it ain't real.
Ain't got nobody on this team that can guard me.
So let me go ahead and get mine.
Let me go ahead and get mind and call it a day.
Right? Let's get this win and let's go.
So and he had a good game.
He had a, um What, did he pass somebody up yesterday? All he passed somebody up.
He had a, uh, think Elgin Baylor or someone that he passed up.
So he passed up Elgin Baylor for third most points in the final debut.
Um, and then he's, you know, right behind George, Mike and and Shaquille O Neal.
So that's a pretty that's a pretty good, you know, that's a good that's that's good people to be around, right? That's good, man.
That's a good guest list, for sure.
But you know, I did hear him say, you know, individual accolades or sweet going along the way.
But of course, you only there for one reason.
That's toe win the championship and that's, you know, I like his team first mentality, and I think that's gonna get him a long way as long as he stayed like that, which I think he will not being around Brown.
Say what you want to say about Bron, but he has great leadership and, you know, speaking of leadership real quick, Um, there is an article that came out that was saying that it was a certain point point during the game when, you know, the Lakers was waxing the one he that was giving it to him.
And Dwight, you know, he always does that.
Glasses gesture and a D and a couple other players were doing the same thing.
You know, you know, all the all the tactics and stuff like that, Um, they were doing.
And Brown was like, Chill basically like Chill out.
This is not over.
Like, let's not do all that.
This is This'll is Game one.
Let's not do that.
You do that when we gave 456 When we win this day, let's not do that in game one.
No, no, we're not here for that.
This is one gay, right? Nope.
And I just like that leadership from him, you know, correcting and and keeping his team focus.
He actually said, You know, locking and stay focused and that's what they need to do.
They have to stay focused.
And you got to remember to eighties younger eighties what, 27? So he's gonna have his moments where he do things like that.
And that's why it's good to have.
You know, Braun as a vet helping you and helping him come along and helping him stay focused instead of, you know, doing little things like that, which let's, let's get let's get this straight.
I'm not saying it's bad.
I'm not saying like, Oh, you shouldn't be doing that.
But again, like you said, is keeping his head in the game.
You know, just in the game, you're gonna get emotional right? You're gonna get emotional.
You know you're here.
This is your first finals game, you know, this is everything you dreamed up.
Besides being in the bubble, I'm pretty sure they want to play in Staples as well as we all want them in Staples.
Um, but Covert had other had other plans for us out of our control.
But what I'm saying is he is gonna you know, fine.
A lot of Brown probably dropped this man so many gyms that he could take with him and further into his career, even way after way.
After Bron retires, you know, he's gonna have them gyms, and that could set him apart from, you know, different teams, different other teams, leaders, You know, he he has this way the swagger that he got from Braun and that's gonna help him, man, that's gonna help carry him.
That's gonna help make him a better player.
That's gonna help make him a better leader.
He's already a solid leader.
Now, I've seen a video.
I believe it was against Denver and Cools was missing his shots or something like that.
He came to the side and a d was there on the bench or whatever.
I don't know if you would call it a bench, but I know what I mean.
And and he told them, basically, you know, relax yourself.
It's your first playoff.
The shop for fall, you know, just comedy young fella down and getting him locked in and trying to keep him encourage, though the signs of leadership.
You know, those signs of leadership.
He didn't, you know, yelling him for missing shots or yelling him from doing whatever.
He encouraged him and kept his focus in the game.
And that's something you want to see out of your leader so real quick.
I just want to talk about that leadership.
And I just like that.
And I think Bron, you know, does that to everybody he plays with.
I'm pretty sure he did that to Kyrie and Kevin Love and all the players that he all the great players he played with, probably besides the way, because the way he was already of that.
So the way probably did that to him instead of vice versa.
So, yeah, Eddie had himself a night man.
He really, really did.
And he's in great company right now, eh? So let's talk about his stats.
Let's talk about his stats real quick.
He had 34 points.
He dropped 34 points easy toe manual that looked like a easy 34 points, wasn't it? I was like that.
He got 30 points, 34 points, all right, that was easy to make that look too good.
So 34 points and nine rebounds.
Five assists, three blocks.
He shot 52% from the field, so he was very, very efficient.
Um, we're working. Asked for the man.
Did he have any turnovers? I don't think he had any turnover.
Yeah, he had one turnover.
Well, yeah, he had one turnover.
I don't think you could ask for much more from him.
He's playing his part.
You know, the rest of the team had to do their part, and they did.
And, man, I led them to a 32 point lead at one point, and I think it was a 75 to 30 or 77th and 32.
Um, run one of those two, but a sickening run.
I was like, Yo, I didn't even know that until after the game.
I knew that was running away with it.
Is that the first quarter? It was 23 10 and I'm like, Okay, here we go out with this fill out stuff. Here they go.
They're about to start feeling everything.
Yeah, we might end up losing this game.
We're coming out.
Little slow, little sluggish and, uh, a d k c p got inside of that man.
He really, really, really did kcp been doing his thing in these playoffs.
And you know what? Usually I wouldn't even get to him yet.
But while we're talking about him, I go to stick to him right now.
Um, kcp man, he's like the unsung hero, kind of, sort of.
I ain't trying to, you know, be extra body.
But his shooting is making a lot of things possible for our Lakers.
You know, when Bron go ahead and he drives to the paint and he's looking for someone to kick it out, to write KCP and in the corners and he's hitting those shots.
He's hitting those open shots, which is exactly what we need him to do.
He's doing his job right.
We just need Danny Green and come along.
He had a few Danny Green had a few shots that he hit last night, but KCP man, he's been bringing us back.
When we needed that joke of energy, you know, somebody shoot a few shots to get us to get us going.
He's been that guy him and Rondo.
They They've been those two that brought us that brought us the energy, you know, Thanks.
And I don't know if it's that, you know, we're in the playoffs, and they just like it was trying to turn our game up or what? But I'm loving it, man.
As long as they keep in those shots easy, wide open shots.
Like I said before playing on this Laker team or you know that LeBron and a D command, you know, so many eyes, right? People, At one point, I've seen LeBron had three or four people on them, literally three or four people on him and and he kicked it back.
He kicked it out.
And I was like, Boom, bang! I think it was markets. Mark.
Keith, I keep want to say markets Markieff Morris that he you know, he had a three.
So that's why I said that this team is probably like a shooter's dream to be on because driving kick nine times out of 10 you're gonna get a good look.
All you gotta do is knock it down.
That's all you have to do is knock it down.
So, um, s a k c p with his defense to.
He's been trying no defense.
He's been knocking out his shots.
We just want him to continue to doing what he's doing.
A hats off to KCP man.
Hats off to him.
I am out of his game and he kind of he stay on the floor or he'd be like, always scared me.
I'll be think he always getting hurt or something.
He get up limping and ****.
I'm like, Okay, okay, now I know.
Um, so, yeah, so this way talked about a D.
Let's talk about LBJ, of course.
So Bron had a near triple double. Of course.
Hey, doing this thing.
He's doing this thing these playoffs.
Hey had 23 23 25 13 and 91 Still shot.
Same a B 52% and he made 83% of his free throws right again.
That's always keeping him because he's not the greatest free throw shooter at all.
And for him to be ableto lock in and knocked him down when it's needed.
Man, me and the fan, I don't know about shot, but that makes me really happy.
That makes me really happy Because then the defense really have to be careful with him because, you know, usually you file brown and you're like, Well, he ain't gonna make it anyway, So what it is, we just lost a file.
You get a player in there that don't play much and use them just to give a shout.
And it this this time he's making them pay every time he's going to the line and he's knocking it down.
So I'm glad that he is doing that.
Hey, had Easy 25.
Also, they just made this.
So then this made it look so easy.
But he was just orchestrated everything and the crazy part about it.
When the Lakers came back and got that lead came back from down 13 got that lead.
I believe Brown was on the bench.
Rondo and KCP triggered that.
So, like I said, Rondo KCP, they've been some of the unsung heroes in his games and I don't mean in a sense of like like they don't mean the sense of like they have been like a t type M V p in the game.
But they have started and they have started initiated a lot of our offense or defense to get the team going back on the right track.
So sometimes I do think they should get the game ball, um, or something like that.
Get him a props.
So yeah, LeBron just regulars that night from him.
There's a normal stat.
2025 13 and not.
And then you got Dwight Howard.
So, Dwight Howard, he wasn't He wasn't, You know, great.
I don't think he took many shots he took, uh, he only took well, he didn't take no shots.
A matter of fact, I think that came off free throws.
Um so the reason why I'm glad that Frank started Dwight Howard instead of Jabal is because the way bam out of bio place, he's so physical, right? Hey, works so hard and don't get me wrong.
I like drill, but he's just a little too light in the pocket for me.
And it's crazy because if you follow his instagram and stuff like that, you could see him working out.
But he's just, you know, he's a little too light in the pocket for me and I think that although he's 7 ft, I don't know if he would have been able to hold looking, but I think the white would have been a little bit because the white is it better, you know, read under, um, both of them were not great offensively, but I think the why does it better read rebounder in a better defender.
So we don't want to give this man no chance in, you know, getting his rhythm.
And this man, I mean bam and getting his rhythm.
You wanna pay the best match ups? And I think that going with the white was the right choice for Frank.
Um, I don't think if it's not broke, don't you know? If it ain't, it ain't broke.
Right? So I'm happy with him sticking with Dwight.
Dwight had eight rebounds.
We don't need his offense.
We need his rebounding.
And we need his assist.
Anything? Not since he needed.
We need his rebounding and his defense.
Anything, um on top of that is just a bonus, right? We're not looking to dunk the ball down to say, Dwight, make it happen.
We really just need him to defend we need him to rebound the ball and, you know, bring that energy, Alter shots, do what he do, do what he do.
And then So now we're moving on from the white.
Let's go to Danny Green again.
I'm not gonna go through all players because it'll be a long time.
It'll be a while.
Everybody actually got to play yesterday, except for Devil.
But anyway, Danny Green, he had 11 points with four rebounds, one assists, and to stills, three blocks.
He he out here on the defensive end doing his thing A and he and he got his shot back.
But four last night.
We're gonna say we're not going to say that this is permanent.
But four last night, then he had his shot back.
Then he got his groove back.
You know, um, him to last night.
He was the difference maker And making those shots and extending the lead.
The Lakers shot like they think they hit like, 11 11 threes and two quarters.
And we all know that they're not the greatest three point shooting team.
But if you leave them open, if you didn't shoot, they're gonna knock it down.
A simple is that they're going to knock it down so that these air, eh? NBA players, these air NBA players.
I know someone suck.
You have players like Ben Simmons that cannot shoot threes.
That's not therefore take.
But I think if you open them up and leave them opening up, they're gonna hit something.
Eventually gonna hit something.
It may not be 50% you know, it may not even be, you know, 30% but they're gonna hit it eventually.
You even got Zion.
You know, I don't know if he can.
I don't follow the lion like that.
But even people leaving him open, he was knocking him down.
Um, so, you know, and then you leave a player like Danny and KCP open that shooters.
That's what they do. They shoot.
You're trying to put them back in their in their zone with you.
That's not gonna end well for you.
It's not gonna end wealthy.
Let let me just reiterate that.
Like they're gonna shoot once they get their rhythm.
Then what? Then what? Then what? What do you do now? Because if you can't double triple teamed LeBron because you.
You got the shooters there.
How do you win? How do you beat this latest thing? The meat.
It's even though I'm a diehard Lakers fan, right? Just stepping out and trying to look like if I'm If I'm the Miami Heat, I'm like them.
How do they beat this team? Look, what do you do? You have tow, outscore them, and you have to, like, really take care of the ball.
Well, take care of the ball.
Don't get don't get turned over.
Make sure you make your shots.
Look, I'm over here trying trying to help out the Miami. Nope.
Nope. Yeah, I thought no.
Anyway, uh, yes, Daddy Grieve shout out to him 44%.
But, uh, yeah, it's always wanted from him to be consistent to hit histories.
And we already talked about KCP.
And then, of course, Kuzma Cozma's first final.
So I'm pretty sure that cat has, um some mom, some butterflies, because I would have He didn't shoot very well.
He went one for seven.
So he didn't shoot that good at all.
He had three points and eight rebounds.
Um, he'll get better.
He'll get better.
Hopefully, he to me.
This this this past Siri's.
He wasn't he, wasn't it? He wasn't it.
I don't know what it was about him, but I don't know.
He got to continue to keep working and keep getting better.
And then he'd go.
Rondo with seven points, three rebounds, four assists.
He like I told you all Rondo those things that's don't show up in the stat line.
You know, I heard of him like called being called Playoff Rondo because disrespectful.
But it's It's one of those things where he literally turned into playoff Rondo like bro.
That's what you literally turned into, like regular season Rondo trash brother.
Regular season. Rondo.
I don't want regular season.
My team, like at all? No, all the Laker nation was, like most Allegra nations, like Get him out of here.
Get him out of here. He had to kinda.
We got to see this playoff thing for us and like, Okay, cool.
Um, I don't think it's disrespectful.
I just think, you know, in the playoffs he elevate his game.
He starts to shoot the ball better you know he's We'll turn into that old older rounder that we know of that Boston Celtics type of Rondo.
Um and you know, hopefully you don't see that to me.
I don't think it's really being not, but, you know, he might see it another way, but he's been expected also for us.
Definitely the way he's orchestrating.
And then he gets.
He gives Brown time off the ball where Brian can just, you know, um, pick and choose his shots.
You don't have to set everybody up.
He can get to his spots.
Rondo gonna serve him up and he gonna do what he do.
I do want to see Rondo Rondo.
I want I do want to see Bron in the post war because that's another place that he's very unstoppable.
Put him in the post.
We double team, he's gonna he's gonna make the right play and find the open man, right? So I wouldn't mind seeing Bron in the Post a little more, but at the end of they didn't know what they're doing.
Frank has been phenomenal.
Um, with this adjustments and just his counterpunches and just how he's been, culture has got to have been pretty good.
Don't know too much about the rotations.
At one point, I was just like, What do you do with these rotation? But he's gotten better.
Let's get let's get Frank credit where credit's due.
He has gotten better with his rotations.
You've got a shrinking rotations.
Honestly, when you're in the playoffs and even more so in the finals, everybody can, you know, play because it's the finals.
Everything is on the line.
This is for all the marbles, man.
We're talking about number 17.
We're talking about number 17 and, of course, last but not least, before I go.
That's when I leave.
Shout out to him.
He had a solid gay eight points, three rebounds, makes him some key defensive plays and also made some key threes.
So can't go without saying anything about Marquis.
Did I say markets again? I hope not.
**** it, I gotta get it.
I've got to get these two together.
Marquis eso last But not least, of course, Alex Caruso.
Um, Crusoe had 10 points with four rebounds, two assists, one still, and was solid on the defensive end.
He had, you know, tally hero.
Danny was getting cooked.
Danny was getting cooked, he was getting picked off.
And it was leading to a wide open threes for Tadahiro Duncan Robinson didn't do anything.
I don't think he scored any points in 27 minutes.
Eso They pretty much took him out of the game, but hero was hitting some shots and hit, Man.
That kid could really, really shoot like I knew he could shoot, But I really wasn't watching the Miami Heat play.
But like every time he shoot, he makes it all net.
He got a great looking shot, man.
He got a beautiful shot, But Caruso, you know, he did his thing slowed him down.
He slowed him down, ran him off the three point line, made him put it on the ground and shoot floaters and stuff like that.
And it just wasn't working.
Um, and of course, you know, bringing the effort Bringing the energy is always what Cruz So does he had a few shots again.
Like I always tell y'all, if you just get that consistent jumper Oh, he's gonna be so nice.
He already nice, but he gonna really nice when he leave that man open.
If he gets to the point where you leave him open, he's not talking until he gonna make you pay for it.
Oh, yeah, He's gonna be something else.
So hey, but listen, lake around podcast.

Okay, so one thing that I said I want to address is how they end the game the Lakers did.
I need them to continue to put that foot on the ground foot on the pedal, keeping your foot on.
You know, your gas on the better.
You know what I mean? Keep it up.
They get complacent and you know they stop doing those little things those little intricate things that give them the lead, they get them lead.
They stopped running guys off the three point line.
They stop pushing up.
They stop, They stop, you know, defending in general, they start settling for jump shots and not driving to the home.
We know why we does not have any any.
And I mean, any defenders in the in the paint foot.
And we stopped doing just the little things that got us where we at now and here you go.
And you know Miami is that make the league smaller and you're like, OK, we had a 32 point lead.
Lakers, What are you doing? It's not over.
Let's not play the scoreboard.
Let's play the game.
Let's play until the clock head zero.
Don't take your foot off the gas and they irritate me when they do that, man like, I'll be so irritated by that.
Like, why just play the game? But like Brian and a d, don't sit down.
We got big leads because we blew them so often.
You know that game? Brana and he should have been sitting down, you know, they should not have been in the game playing all all the way to the one minute 23 2nd mark.
So they got to do better withholding leads and continuing to grow them.
Of course, you're gonna slip a little bit, right.
You're gonna go to the bench.
It may slip a little bit, but come on, man, we gotta get That's one area that we got to get better as just getting comfortable on getting complacent and trying to let teams back in because Miami didn't quit, they kept going and kept going and kept pushing.
Jimmy Butler tweaked his ankle and still played.
He played for a while, too.
But, you know, that's one area I can say that the Lakers can get better at and because that's gonna hurt him, it's gonna hurt him.
It almost hurt us against Houston, and we just can't have those those laps like that.
We just got to stay focused for 48 minutes, and when I was 48 minutes is up.
They all could do what I want you all to do.
What you all want.
Y'all can, you know, taxi, girlfriends, whatever you got going on, cook the food, play golf, whatever, wherever the hell they want to do.
You could do that, but, you know, I just I'm just like your for 48 minutes.
You've got to stay like that.
We can't be sitting out here blowing 32 point leads and giving Miami moments.
And Kendrick Nunn came in.
They didn't even try to guard the man.
They just like you.
Do you breath you do You and ****ysis been saying, Hey, he's been playing bad.
He's been playing bad, and I'm like, Okay, well, cool.
You know, you go, we're gonna defend him.
He gonna get worse.
You know, it is what it is now.
My man came in and dropped 18 points on what? And it wasn't.
It was all Lakers.
Like they're up.
It's where so good he's torching the Lakers.
No, they didn't even try to defend my guy.
They didn't try to defend my guy like Come on now.
So that's the area.
I definitely want to see them get better at and we get We do that.
We continue to defend because Miami's shooting team, man, they're gonna shoot and they'll make you pay, you know, run them off the three point line, if you know, you know, defend for 48 minutes So if we continue to defend, if we make sure that we stay locked in and we make our over shots get easy buckets run out and do not turn the ball over limit our turnovers.
I don't see how we shouldn't win this championship.
