Sports as usual.
I'm Rex here with Stephen.
How you doing? I know your hype for next week, but we just gotta get through one more conference for you, starting the show off. Hot on.
You love it? Yeah.
You know, I'm more ready for next week, but we can get through the Power five conference.
That's not really a power five conference anymore.
Really quick this week.
Yeah, I saw you over there like dancing.
I thought you saw the music going.
That's why you had this muted, but nope.
So as usual, this week's episode we got you your Pac 12 conference preview.
We got less than eight weeks till basketball tips off.
Um, you see everyone else finally starting to come out with the conference previews.
But we've been grinding since the middle of the summer, so you got to come here for your number one conference previews.
Overall, I don't know who could top us out there.
We got you covered on all the spots, your rankings.
Breaking down each team and giving you your first team.
And who toe watch.
Let's get right into it, Stephen.
We gotta Recruits were finally wrapping them up.
We got all huge names here.
Let's get into Yep, we're starting it off with Caleb Love.
Six with three point guard committed.
Thio, North Carolina.
I love this guy's game.
I see him pretty much being like the same type of guy that Kobe White was for two years ago.
Um, he's e give him that comparison because he's a really good score, and when he needs to, he can lock somebody down on the defensive end.
So obviously, he's going to come in and just start for them.
And I think, out of maybe all the recruits since he's gonna have the ball in his hands the most, he could be their biggest impact player this year.
Yeah, and he's probably gonna be there.
Only starter that's under like 6 ft six in the lineup, too.
So he's gonna have Thio they're going to get scoring from a bunch of their big guys.
So what Love's gonna have to do is you were gonna have to see him get over, like, four assists per game.
And if he does that, UNC is gonna be a top squad this year.
So that's where love.
He's probably gonna have all the point guard duties because the only one other one up could be R.
J Davis, which is another, uh, incoming freshmen but loves, I would say a lot better.
And Mawr College ready than R.
So, um, he's going to get all the playing time he can ask for at UNC.
Next up, we have Jaylin Johnson, 6 ft 8 £215.
Small forward, committed to Duke on this guy.
I'm not gonna call him the total package yet because he's only a freshman in college, but his size to go along with his ball handling his passing, just like his overall like skill on the court, is such a dangerous combination that just with his size, you can see over a lot of most of the defenders that he'll be going up against and so you can pass out of like, a drive.
Also, when he takes the Jumper just like his high release gives him so much more room to just not get blocked, that I think he'll I think the scoring will come a little bit later than everything else.
But he's just all around such a solid player.
I think he'll be.
I think it would be really good.
I don't know if you coach K is gonna get the most out of them this year.
Okay, I think he's going to score.
That's the only thing I know.
Coming up straight out.
Uh, straight in his freshman year.
I expect him to easily get over 10 points per game next year for the Dukie.
So Coach K will make sure he likes him in time from the time in there.
If you're getting that for him.
And next up, we have a guy who are going to talk about a lot more later, so I'm just gonna keep this one quick. But we got Josh.
Christopher committed Thio Arizona State.
He's a 6 ft 4 £200 shooting guard.
Um, pretty good athleticism.
He plays through contact really? Well, um, he's definitely more of a score.
That's why he's a shooting guard.
But I like him, too.
I mean, I think he could probably start over one of those seniors if he had to. This year.
I think he is going to start over one of those seniors.
I don't think it's a question about it.
Just giving his raw ability.
And Remi Martin and, uh, Verges we'll get into are gonna be there.
So they need that small forward there.
And I think Christopher's is gonna slide right into it.
Um, next up, we got Jalen Saugus, I 6 ft, £385 point guard committed to Gonzaga.
Um, he's gonna be Obviously, he did it all in high school, being a dual threat quarterback as well as the best basketball player in high school.
He definitely has the He has the court vision to be a really good passer, even though he's more of a score first type point guard.
I think it'll be a great all around player for the Bulldogs this year.
Mhm, Yeah, as Aga bringing in a great player for once.
Um straight as a freshman.
Gonna get that starting minutes right away.
Another 10 points per game scores.
So in this one, we're rounding out what we're, like, 14 through 10 years.
So all these guys are gonna begin Buckets? Yep.
Lastly, we have Moussa see, say, a 6 ft 9 £200 power forward committed thio Memphis, I think what you'll see out of him.
Yeah, uh, as a freshman will look more like what precious that you did for them last year.
But I think his high end upside is being closer to what James Wiseman should have been for them last year.
If he played like, I think this guy is just gonna be a dominant force down low in the A.
He could rebound.
He doesn't even really need to pass that.
Well, as long as you can kick the ball out often.
I think he'll be a great player in Memphis this year.
Yeah, Yeah, we talked about him a lot last week.
You had him on his under your first team all conference, so you obviously have sky high expectations for him.
He's gonna be the size and the height and could be potentially the best center.
It's gonna be going up there with the guy from Cincinnati.
So, uh, see, say, I don't think he lasts more than a year of Memphis.
So you'll see him get the most minutes and try to show his ability to clean the boards and scored the same time to get that lottery pick solidified.
Yeah, all right.
So not much news this week, other than all of the conference are not.
The conference tourney is all the preseason tor knees or the beginning of the season tourney.
Zehr announcing their new dates.
Pretty sure the Hawaii ones and somewhere in Arkansas or something like that.
So make sure to keep your eyes out on all the pipe tourney.
Is that come before conference play starts? But let's get right into the Pac 12.
It's the conference preview.
We're going to be hitting you with 12 squads in here.
Let's rattle off for ranking Stephen.
And how do you see these, uh, come season end? Alright, so my ranking is I'm looking at Cal finishing in the bottom.
Oregon State at 11 Washington at 10 Washington State at nine, Colorado eight USC.
It's seven you taught. Six.
Oregon, five U C.
Arizona three, Stanford two and Arizona State finishing on top.
I think this is gonna be back to back weeks.
You have a Hurley brother finishing in the top in the conference rankings.
I got wazoo and last, and I got the Beavers in 11th.
Kallat 10th, USC at nine.
The Buffs at eight.
Huskies at seven.
You taught six Zona at five.
Oregon at four U C l A at three.
Uh, Sun Devils at two.
That I'm going with the trees that finish it off, up top.
The trees were a team that burned me so much gambling wise last season.
So I just have to buy into them because of how many games I watch last season and just I just like what they got.
So where do we want to start? Because our bottoms a little bit different, but let's just Oregon State.
Yeah, we both have them pretty far down our list.
So the Beavers, we suppose, see a regression year coming in for them.
They want 18 and 13 overall last season, seven and 11 in conference.
Uh, the reason they're bringing back 60% of the roster, which isn't terrible.
And they bring him back.
Ethan Thompson, who I'm a huge fan of if you guys haven't checked him out playing it.
He's definitely a guy tow watch, but I don't know.
I'm just not sold on the squad that they could score.
But other than score, they played close to zero defense, and they're losing trust.
Trinkl, Um, just a straight a baller last season.
So the loss of Trinkl and Thompson becoming the number one.
I don't think that gives us smoothly.
As Bieber fans were thinking.
No, they lose, They lose, they lose tinkle, they lose.
Uh, I'm pretty sure that losing Kyler Kelly to who was there? Seven footer in the middle.
That's a good that's gonna hurt, Um, the next.
The next big guy option is really Roman Silva, who's gonna be a senior and the only averaged two points a game, one rebound and basically no assists, and he's 71 so not really sold on him.
They lose Peyton Dash trip who? It wasn't really a player for them.
He just wanted to go somewhere to get playing time, which is fine, but they don't really have any great incoming recruits.
They they they bring in Isaiah Johnson could And, uh, their other two guys were coming in from community college.
And Tariq Silver? Yeah, Tariq Silver.
And there's another power for it.
I'm blanking on his name right now.
Um, but I don't see Isaiah Johnson really making an impact.
He's ranked outside the top 400.
Um, it's like they're gonna have to rely so much on Ethan Thompson that without a true big guy, I don't see them finishing outside the bottom two e.
I don't see them finishing anywhere other than the bottom to this year.
You're not sold on.
Ah, Roman Silva in center, 7 ft one center, The guy who ever is two points last year.
I don't see him making that big of a jump, especially because he's gonna be a senior like you've had three years to try to make an impact.
And you were still in the averaging 1.
9 points a game last year.
Yeah, they do have an upperclassman led squad.
Julian Franklin's their best recruit.
They're bringing in, which sits outside of the top 100 e.
Think if this season is gonna go any bit.
Well, they just need to find who's gonna be playing point guard.
Because with Thompson Reichel on Holland's, you got 656566 So you got the decent of your small forward for your small foreign shooting guards down.
But I don't know who's gonna be the primary ball handler.
I'm thinking it's gonna be Draught Lucas rising sop****re and Ethan Thompson is gonna lead the team and assist points per games and potentially rebounds.
And I just don't like that in the Pac 12 where I think it's gonna be a doggy dog conference like it usually is.
And I like these guys to come in 11th like you dio Yeah, I mean, I think Franklin could be alright because he wasn't a freshman.
He wasn't class of 2020 freshmen.
He red shirted last year, so at least he knows the system a little bit more.
So I think he could have a little bit more of an impact.
But at the same time, if he was at Oregon State, who wasn't that good last year, and they didn't feel comfortable enough at least giving them bench minutes like How much are they gonna trust him now? Exactly.
All right, who do we got next? Let's hop over to let's go toe the team that I got coming in last in wazoo.
Um, you're you're respecting, I guess.
A little bit of an increase from their 16 and 16 6 and 12 season last year where I just found not many things to like about this squad football team.
Used to be a lot of fun.
Now it's kind of boring.
With Leach gone, you see him dominating l s U.
But wazoo, they're bringing back Onley 50% of their minutes.
And I don't know, I don't know what you like about this team other than Isaac Bone.
Bowen's really the Onley guy on this team that I have any any type of faith in scoring.
Losing CJ Everly early, I think is gonna be the biggest thing that hits them.
And then Geoff Pollard, Ghana's well, you're gonna see the Boon and Miller show, and then those air You're only two guys on this roster that could get you more than 10 points per game on a team that just wasn't efficient on offense.
Shot 30% from 3 45% from two. There.
Lock down defense, where they're a top 100 school overall.
On defense was the only thing to did it, but no big winds on this schedule other than Washington last year, they did upset organ as well.
So, other than that, not to impress lost a lot of bad non con games like the Nebraska Omaha on Santa Clara.
Um, well, I guess this is probably our biggest difference as guys looking at teams coming in.
I think Washington State's recruiting classes here is good.
They have two small forwards coming in who were both ranked pretty much in the top 1.
25 in Carlos Rosario and some guy from Macedonia whose name I don't even really think I want to try to pronounce.
I think his last name's, uh, Andrea Jama whiskey.
It's spelled J a k.
Which is, which is kind of if I'm like, if I'm sounding it out, it sounds like Jakubowski, which is I don't know how appropriate that is, very extreme, but I mean, those guys, they're both pretty good.
And then you got DeSean Jackson, who's also in the top 200 at 6 10 who could come in and play center if they don't trust, Do you think you could pronounce this center his name? It's like Mark work of its key Markovitz.
I I don't know, um, but I like he could take.
He could take a step.
He was only a freshman last year, so it's like the opposite of that guy from Oregon State.
The guy from Oregon State was averaging two points as a junior.
This guy was averaging two points as a freshman.
I see Markovitz Key as a guy who could take a step this year to go with Boughton and Noble.
Williams was a freshman guard last year who could become their shooting guard this year.
I don't I'm not like I don't think he's gonna be bad.
I think he could be good.
And then if you start, um if you start those other two freshmen and then you are, if you start the two freshmen who are in the top 25 then you have D Shawn Jackson, TJ Bombo, who's a combo guard Uh, and F.
Who's another 69? Who is another 69 center? I think they have good pieces to build around this year.
Um, and just the players they have coming back.
They have enough continuity coming back in.
Who did they lose this because they didn't like all their players who transferred were not key players on that team last year.
Like you still have Tony Miller.
Noah Williams? Um, e think Marvin Cannon was the best guy who left last year.
He was only averaging four points a game.
So even though you lose L A b, he was I I don't I think they bring in more good players than they lose.
So I see them moving up a couple of games.
Yeah, I'm just a complete opposite where this team has to rely on that defense again, and I think losing Pollard, it's gonna be a huge piece for them.
Losing that, and you're not a top 100 defense.
If you don't have a guy in the middle that could hold it down.
And just with how questionable we were on their big men and shooting how poorly they did on offense, maybe they do grow mature together.
But I really don't like Boeing and Miller being your top two scores.
And no one else, I think, gets you more than 10 a game next year.
So that's why I have these dudes coming in last, because I think the defense falls back real quick.
I think they're easy on their 500 team next year.
Yeah, I don't know.
I I see just watching some of the highlights.
I c D Shawn Jackson as a better defender than anybody they had on the roster last year, like he's coming in there to block shots and rebound the ball.
Not necessarily to be a score.
So I think if you have him in the middle with the backcourt, I think they'll be all right.
Obviously, I don't expect Washington State to be good by any means, because they're Washington State basketball.
Like when was the last time they were really good.
I just expect them to be a little bit better than last year.
The last time Washington State was good was 2000 and 11.
Yeah, exactly like once a decade.
They're probably coming up on it again soon, but it's not this year.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's when Clay was there, too.
All right, let's hop into Cao.
Cao went 14 and 18 last season, but seven and 11 overall.
Um, for this cow squad and Mark Mark Fox's team, uh, they didn't just didn't do anything exceptional.
They played a lot better in conference play than they did in Non Con.
Uh, they did have some tough non Constanta.
Claire is just like a Pac 12 killer last year, just eating up the bottom feeders.
They're, um I like a lot more about this team than you do because you and I both have thes squads flip flop that we just covered, but bringing back 65% of your minutes.
And I think Matt Bradley going to spoil how high I'm on him.
But 20 point per game player, Potentially.
I think he can carry it more than body and can.
And that's where Hiu the pieces that come back around him, they Monte Bowser is gonna be the Onley underclassman.
That's getting many minutes.
So I just like the senior lead squad to maybe finally put it together for cow, the first time since 2016 that I think they would do anything noticeable in the conference and in college basketball world.
Um, so these guys i e I'm just just not like, yeah, Bowser will be all right.
Jalen Celestine, Not not so much.
He's probably gonna red shirt, if anything.
Um, but I mean, yeah, Matt Bradley is good.
It really depends a lot on Lars, uh, large timing.
He's a he's gonna be there, guy in the middle that they need to have a good year because, I mean, they lose their other.
They lose their two of their guards from last year.
It's consumption e like Andre Kelly in the middle.
I think they might start him over Lars 68 on their size.
Um, there is just outside of Matt Bradley.
There's not a ton of things that I really like.
You got a couple undersized guys and Anna Sa***e and Kelly, you have It'll probably be Joel Brown in the backcourt with Bradley, and then you fill it out with Bowser.
It could be all right.
But even when teams are a little bit more experience, I don't like them when they lose guys who were running the back work for a solid three or four years.
I think it's I always think it's harder to replace a backcourt than it is to replace the front court.
Yeah, I can definitely give it to you.
They're bringing up the ball.
Might be an issue, but I think Foreman can be the guy that does that kind of be there.
Creative presence along with Brown.
But I like what anti ceviche has to bring to the squad.
I think he could get them close toe 13 maybe 15 points per game if he gets hot.
I want to say this team has death because I have them coming in 10th.
But I like the their six through 10 a lot better than the other two squads that we've gone through so far here.
Yeah, I don't know.
Just like when teams air, usually this were at the bottom.
I think I'm higher on teams that air building better than other team's.
So like cow brings in like one top 125 guy Washington State has to.
Washington state has four in the top 300.
Cal has still just one So I see Washington State building a more solid program.
Maybe has maybe there maybe has a little bit better of a foundation set up.
I think it will just work more.
Yeah, you're relying on your young guys.
I'm going to stick with my upperclassman.
That's usually how the show goes here.
So let's eso we've we finished out our bottom.
Um, I don't want to say the rest of these squads all have a chance.
When the title, I would say it's pretty close, but all the rest of these schools, I think, finished above 500.
So those three in the bottom, So I kind of have it in to tears coming into here.
So let's, uh, let's jump up to who? We both have an eighth, and then we'll talk about our discrepancy in 9th and 7th and let's go to the Buffs of Colorado.
So Colorado last season they probably were gonna make the tourney as an eight or nine seed, according to Kenpom, 21 11 10 and eight and Conference overall.
They were just a menace out there on the court last year, and they definitely have that home court advantage out there.
Colorado is bringing back one second, 57% of the roster next year.
So not too bad, but a team that just, I think completely over performed and then got stomped in the postseason tourney by Washington State.
But McKinley right? You can't deny that ability.
Losing Tyler Bay, I think, might be the one thing that holds his squad back from taking it to the next level.
But I really like the rest of the squad they bring back, but just not as rest as the rest of the Pac 12 teams.
I'm really high on McKinley, right? E think did.
Shaun Schwartz could be a little bit better, especially now that Tyler Bay is gone.
Um, there's there's just not there's not a ton that they lose.
Obviously, you have to figure out who to bring in for Lucas.
See, Werth, Um, but I just see them.
This is just like the type of thing I like.
You bring back your point guard who's gonna be able to calm everything down during the game like he's not gonna let it get out of hand.
Then you have, like, the swing guys in Schwarz who's technically listed as a guard at 67 and Evan Body, who's 68? Probably gonna be like a power forward.
Um, it's gonna be like, Can Dallas Wall in Jacob Dombeck or Frank Rider become what? See where it was? Because they all have the size to do it.
I think it will probably be between, like, Dombeck and ride probably down, because he was a freshman rider and, uh while and we're both juniors.
So I like, I like what they're bringing back.
I like what they're bringing in Dominy Clifford, I think, could be big for them after since they left.
And then Jabbar walkers.
Ah, big man with talent who I think could get minutes off the bench for them.
Jalen Harris, another power forward who I think just improve their size.
Same thing with Shariah Hornet transfer from Nebraska E.
I think there's a lot of good pieces coming in tow.
Help fill out a team that's losing some seniors who are not starters or key pieces in that rotation last year.
Yeah, this team improves on the three ball.
Um, they're definitely not finishing in eighth.
They kind of were underwhelming there last year.
But if you wanna watch a lot of pick and roll with McKinley, right, and have it be Schwartz, Bailey horn, whoever is coming off of that role because I think they'll do with the power for instead of the center here.
Unless one of these guys suits up in center.
But I think they're just gonna be too much of a roller coaster.
They're gonna put up 90 or they're gonna put up 60.
If a team just keys in on right, and we'll just have to see Schwartz become that consistent scorer or is it gonna be baby? Because that's where the questions start to come in.
If a team shuts down right or freight gets into foul trouble, who's going to bring up the ball past him? I guess it would be park at Okay.
Yeah, it would be park a, uh, or counts, I think might be able to do it.
But those were really the only other two guys because it's not like they brought in.
Uh uh, point guards.
They brought in a lot of shooting guards and power forwards, So I think I think I think they're gonna have a good mix, which will definitely help the freshman.
It's not like freshman trying to leave fresher.
And it's some good seniors who can teach the freshman, which I think helps with the talent that the freshmen have.
Yeah, they're definitely gonna be a squad that coming off of probably gonna make the conference or make March Madness.
I see them falling back a decent amount.
Um, 21 wins last year might have been a little bit of over exceeding, so I think they finished more around like 18 wins next year.
So let's come in.
Let's hit up the squad that came in last last season in Washington 15 and 17 overall, five and 13 and Conference.
So the bottom of the Pac 12 hasn't been as barren or as bad as other, uh, conferences that we've gone through where you've seen the final team end up with less than 10 wins.
But big name for them, probably one of the most significant players they've gotten into transfer was quite a green coming in there.
But this squad last year from January 18th, 2 February 20th, did not win a single game.
They're coming out hot sitting at 12 and six.
Finish that stretch at 12 and 15.
Defense was top notch.
Offense was just not there.
Isaiah Stewart was the key piece for them.
With quite a green, I would say playing more of a second fiddle.
But I'm just confused on this squad.
You have, um, a little bit higher than I do.
So I want to know what you like about this team, or I have them higher than you.
So I wouldn't know what you don't like about this team.
Um, I just don't like like everybody they had that I thought it could have stepped up this year is it kind of feels like they're leaving.
Like Elijah Hardy was not a bad player.
He just never had his time to play.
So it's gonna you're gonna be relying a lot on now as Carter, Jamal Bay.
Quite a green, Andi.
He wasn't He wasn't that good last year.
Um, they they weren't very good when they had the high level recruits.
I'm not sure how that's really gonna improve when they don't have those guys because they didn't bring in anybody near the caliber of Isaiah Stewart or JD McDaniels, who they're both losing e mean.
Maybe it could be.
Maybe it could be green, but he was also, he was playing on that team Last year, he had 11 points, five assists, and they were still bad.
So I'm guess there's not a lot I'm sold on.
You lose Brian Pen Johnson.
Uh, you lose Jason Crandell.
He's just in the portal.
Same thing with Quinn Barnard and Eric Stevenson, who's a good player coming in from Wichita State.
He still hasn't gotten his waiver to play this year, so he's supposed to be sitting out.
And then it's Ah, Cola, the Gemma who's in from Michigan.
If he plays this year, that'll help him, but without getting any influx of really new talent, and you're just trying to rely on the same guys from last year who couldn't really win you very many games, I don't see them making a big improvement.
I don't see them making a big improvement if I had a moving up two spots but not getting anywhere really close to the top.
Yeah, if if this team does end up where I think they come in seventh I'm banking a lot of Raekwon battle.
I think he could be a solid piece at the small fort with them next to Carter.
Think those two will play the small four guards with quite a green at the point? And Amir, right? It doesn't feel I'm not too confident saying that he's gonna be able to be one of the top centers or power forwards.
However, this team decides to play because they're lacking height.
They're lacking depth.
That height, they'll have to turn the Nate Roberts if him here right, gets into trouble.
So I'm just thinking that this team can still play defense like they did last year and just hoping that this offense can finally, quick and quite a green finally breaks out.
If not Quaeda greens.
Just gonna be one of the biggest names that then and ac***ulate that anything and probably get up into the G league or start playing overseas.
Wait, you're not sold.
I might know he was a senior. Never mind your good.
Uh, but yeah, I'm just There's not ah lot that I'm sold on here.
Yeah, quite a, I think if he can finally break 15 points per game and get you maybe five assists.
That's gonna see Washington take to the next level.
And since he's a formal cat, I got to give them the benefit of the doubt. Because of Calipari.
Like some, I like him real quick.
How about that Louisville, Kentucky beef going on on Twitter just because we're talking about that? We're Mac released the video, then was it? 12 hours later, they had a game scheduled.
I'm all here for the beef between two rivals like that.
I know The only thing I'm mad about is now the conferences they're trying to step in like, Oh, we don't know if they could have the game.
They're supposed to have three days off for Christmas and they wanna have a schedule for the 26th.
Like, bro, stop being such a like Stop trying to, like, ruin everybody's fun.
Just because you wanna like.
If the teams agree to play on the 26th, I don't play on the 26th like you don't have to schedule it.
But if the players are okay with it, the coaches are okay with it.
Then they should be able to play.
Yeah, I 100% agree with you right there.
Let's get back to the Pac 12.
Um, if you're gonna be a day of a game after Christmas Day, Um, I'm here for it.
Let's get into USC.
So this was the squad where we kinda have USC in Washington.
Flipped USC last season 22 9.
Definitely was gonna make the tourney 11 and 7, 11 and seven in conference.
Kind of struggled defense was top 15 in the nation with how efficient they were.
They're Onley bringing back 26% of the roster.
So that's why I have them finishing down in ninth.
You have these guys in seven, so I'm gonna just kick it off right to you since your higher on this team, what do you like about him? All right, these guys, it's It's the mobile ease for USC.
That that group upfront is going to be very good.
Just running Isaiah Mobley at 6 10 and then Evan Mobley as pretty much a true seven footer in the middle.
That's I mean, Evan Mobile, ease the number three recruit in the year you pair him with his brother in the front court.
You already got great chemistry there.
They've been playing with each other forever.
And then, um, Ethan Anderson can be the point guard.
You got a lot of freshmen who showed flashes.
They just weren't consistent.
So if you have both mobile ease as your power forward and center and then Max, uh, I'm and Jesus Christ agg Bond agg Bond Polo as your small forward with Ethan Anderson running point.
I just So you get those guys you have, and then who else do they get? They got They have a lot of transfers coming in who I think could help them.
You got guys Goodwin, another front court guy.
You got ta GED coming in.
Um, both those guys air immediately.
Eligible? Uh, et can play in the backcourt.
You got through Peterson coming in from rights.
He was good for them last year.
Um, I think this is just gonna be a team where I like the way I like the way in.
The Enfield runs his teams.
He knows his strengths.
He knows his weaknesses.
He's not gonna He's gonna hide the weaknesses as much as he can, and he's gonna run the team through the middle So I think they have too much high end talent to be really bad.
But not enough returning players to be towards the top.
Yeah, Mobley, Anderson, Mobley and ET That's a solid top four, especially for the Pac 12.
Um, it's just with I e t is gonna be huge.
Santa Clare plays the Pac 12 so he knows what it does.
But I just hate who they're losing in Oakland, New Matthews, Ratkovich and Timo.
Because Ethan Anderson played 61% of your minutes, Mobley played 50.
So you're losing everyone who is on the court last year for them.
So that's where these 43 of the four guys they're gonna be sop****res or freshmen.
So you're expecting a lot of your younger guys.
Thalmann is gonna have to be the next piece, in my opinion, to step up for this team too bright into seventh where you have them and feel does stack the 21 Seasons a little bit, But then they fall off real quick.
I don't know what it is.
I just I just think this team maybe starts off hot, but then falls quickly in conference play where their size is gonna be something that's gonna be tough to match, especially I'll know if anyone else in the conference has a 12 punch with the Mobley twins.
But if Evan takes a little bit to get there, I know he has a computer.
He could potentially get over 15 points per game.
He's gonna easily break.
He's gonna have a 25 and 15 game already already.
See that coming, and that's what's gonna have me sold on them.
So this is one where I just need to see them do it once or twice, and I'm probably gonna hop on this team quickly.
But this kind of going a little contrarian here and just not buying into the Trojans yet.
Yeah, I'm kind of excited to see bowing play because he was.
He was starting to become a good player at San Jose State, and now people are kind of just forgetting about him because he had to sit out a year.
But I'm excited to see what he does is either they're small forward or just like somebody to give them even more size running as like a 66 shooting guard.
Yeah, that's where I think the season really relies on Baumann here.
Yeah, All right.
So we got our top six.
It's pretty weird.
How are one through six? Isn't switched up that much? That we have the same six teams in that tier.
We had our bottom six.
We both got Utah and sixth.
That seems like the logical way.
Utah Last season.
16 and 15 overall, seven and 11 in conference um, three Utes.
They're bringing back almost everybody 84% of their rosters, so there's a lot of hope for them this season, but other than Timmy Alan, they have capable scores.
But it's just another one man show here, and I don't know Are you sold on Timmy Alan to be this top guy yet because he was solid last year, but I just don't know.
I'm sold on to me.
Alan, to be the top score.
I think Ryland Jones is their highest rated recruit they have on the team.
He was also averaging about 10 points in 4.
As a freshman with with both got leaving.
I'm blanking out where he went. He went Thio.
Oh, he went to Minnesota with him leaving.
That hurts a little bit, but it opens up more space for Jones to become the true point guard and bro.
I mean, come on, this guy's their center.
Has the same name or same last name is me.
So you know, I got to be sold on them.
I mean, Brandon Carlson a 7 ft.
He's gonna be a sop****re this year.
He put up seven points and four boards.
I mean, I gotta expect him to make a big jump.
He's gonna be the next, like, big, like, Utah center because they always got They always got that guy who's, like, seven to who just dunks and block shots.
Yeah, I was about to say he swatted a lot of shots last season.
It was against Stanford.
Yeah, I just looked up his stats real quick.
Eight blocks against Stanford last year.
You also had eight blocks times.
They played Stanford last year.
He blocked at eight times.
Hard to do that.
Yeah, you got him.
And like so they have all those players coming back, and then you also have Who else do they get? I know they had a couple of good guys coming in.
Um, it Waas like the big guy who's coming in, they're just gonna play is gonna be Ian Martinez.
He's a 63 shooting guard, pretty much just coming in to replace what both God did.
I think he could do it.
Well, he was just outside the top 100.
Even though this teams really young, I still think he can come in and just play immediately.
Not starting, but he'll be a guy off the bench will just come in and be a good player for them.
So this is a team that I would not wanna have on my schedule.
Maybe not this year, but like next year and the year after that.
I don't want to see Utah, especially if these guys stay together.
Yeah, we've seen Coach K West start to put it together to Sometimes you had that run of four straight 21 seasons.
They fall off the cuffs a little bit.
I think this is the back of the rise of the Utes, but just not yet for this season, other than if Timmy Alan just explodes in averages 23 points per game next year, That's the way they break into the break into when the conference.
If he's just doing that hot.
Yeah, all right, let's go toe Arizona and the Wildcats.
Last season, Zona went 21 11 10 and eight, losing probably my favorite basketball player last year in College of Nico Mannion.
Going to be way too hard to replace, and I'm just kidding.
He was very up and down for them last season.
But as Arizona goes, freshman go out new freshman come in.
They don't do it as well as the teams on the East Coast, but they're definitely trying to.
They're only returning 16% of this roster next year, And that's where all my concerns come in.
Because when he had the ninth overall defense, the 40th offense in the nation last year, it's just they just have way too much to replace Losing Naji mania and Green.
They're gonna be relying on the upperclassmen that were on the roster last season to take that next step and they're even losing.
They're losing do Verte as well.
So who's gonna be playing for these guys next year is my question, because you have a lot of unproven talent in there.
So where I'm looking is I think Brendan Williams, Unless he did I say that he left.
Did I not see that? No, he's here.
Brandon Williams is gonna be I think he's gonna be good for them.
He was good as a freshman.
5 points a game, Three assists, pretty much three rebounds.
And he was doing that as a freshman.
It was just an injury that killed his season last year.
So he's gonna come back.
He's gonna be strong.
I like, uh, I like Tamari Baker Jr.
Thio kind of be a guy, But what I really like is obviously, like I've been saying all night.
It's just a freshman.
You got pretty much a starting five with just freshman coming in for them who are all ranked inside the top 1. 25.
You go Dehlin, Perry, uh, at small forward a Zulus Cabela's as a power forward at 69 to 40.
He's definitely college.
You got Kirk Crystal, who can come in and get solid minutes as a point guard.
And then you got Daniel.
Bochco is 6 10 center who is just barely outside the top 100 at 105 And if you want Perry toe, be more of a shooting guard, then you could put Benedict but are mature in in that small forward.
He's also ranked at like 1 22.
Um, and then I think one of the big guys to come in and play for them as long as he gets the waiver is gonna be a James I.
How did they say his last name, King Joe? He's he got the wave, are already so, he said.
So that's where I like him to be their scoring point guard.
And probably if Williams isn't leading the team in points, it's definitely gonna be a King. Joe.
Yeah, and then Terrell Brown Jr.
Coming in from Seattle, is also immediately eligible.
He can be a shooting guard for them, so I think they have pieces who have already solidified themselves in college, other places coming in, and then they have six capable freshmen who can all come in and be relied upon as solid players this year.
I just think consistency is gonna be this team's key with all these new pieces, uh, seems like the off season training shouldn't be affected that much.
They lose a month or two, but with basketball, I think they can pick it up much quicker than they can in football.
I just think this starting fires going to rotate throughout the year with with what they have on the roster, and I think that could be their downfall with how many moving pieces.
But this is one team next year that's definitely able Thio hit or be ableto, um, tread injuries, just how, given how deep they are, but just too many new pieces for me to have that much faith in them.
Yeah, I mean, usually I'd say the same thing if it was teams other than Arizona.
But Arizona rotates guys in so often that I think they're more equipped to handle it than pretty much anybody else.
Let's get to the Pac 12 regular season champs in Oregon.
Last season they went 24 7 13 and five.
Steven has them finishing in fifth.
I have them finishing in third, so a decent drop back for Team.
That was just unreal last year.
But you know, if if you missed the pain, Pritchard show.
Shame on you do it just lights out.
So that's where he was.
Just the heart and soul of the team does.
Will Richardson become that next year and become Richardson's replacement? Not at the position.
They'll probably go toe Hardy, if not somebody else on the roster.
But I don't know.
It's gonna be weird seeing Oregon playing without Pritchard.
So that's why I'm just low on them, because any time they needed a clutch basket or for him to make a play, he never came up short.
And there's so many good highlights from last season.
A preacher and buzzer beaters.
Yeah, yeah, I don't know it.
There's just so much that they lose.
Like obviously, Galen Terry is gonna be good for them on.
Then you bring it LJ figure out who is good at ST John's, and he'll be good there as well.
But e don't feel good about them losing Franciszek or O. C.
Walker to go along with Pita and Pritchard and then Anthony Mathis.
It's just like there.
There's too much getting lost and not enough coming in for me to feel good about Oregon.
Repeating are really coming that close to repeating this year, and they're gonna need, I think it's do rt and Omori are gonna be there.
Two guys that's gonna determine the season next year they have.
They have guys that can score, but no one at an insane rate.
So this is gonna be a team scoring UNC three or four guys with 12 to 15 points next year, so they're going to spread it out.
Can the defense just stay as solid as it was last year? And that's where I think the defense takes a step back.
I think the offense takes a huge step back without Pritchard running the show, Um, so that's where I just see a small regression.
I still see them easily getting 18 wins next year.
I just don't see the high that they had last year, and I think this team had the ability to go deep.
Probably get a three or three or four seed.
But it's a shame that we didn't get to see Pritchard's last season there, and that's where I think that just falls off for them.
Yeah, yeah, they need that.
They need that star that they can just rely on whenever they need a big shot.
And I don't see them having it this year. Yeah.
So let's hit up. U C L A. Next.
So, if u c l. A.
19 to 12 12 and six overall in conference last year, they're bringing back 87% of the roster.
Ah, I wouldn't say they're losing anyone of note from last season coming back.
So that's where they're bringing Ah lot back.
It's gonna be if **** Cronin and Season two can really get the boys rolling.
Went from offense, offense, offense, toe relying on defense.
Huge switch for u C L. A.
Um, they seemed to buy in more towards the end of the season last year into Cronin style because we saw them pile out of winds together after being eight and nine at one point.
So I like Campbell.
I like Smith, but I like this team's defense overall better, which I think puts them into the top three.
Yeah, I they have outside of losing weight.
Did they lose Prince Ali or was he a transfer something? No.
They lost Prince Ali.
Um so outside of losing him, there's really not much that they lost.
So Jalen Hill is gonna be big.
Same thing with Cody Riley.
But you're right.
They are returning pretty much all their team.
They bring in Jalen Clark and Johnny, uh, Jews hang from Kentucky.
I think both those guys, they're gonna be swing guys who can score without much trouble, especially with the other guys they have on this team.
I'm pretty high on U C L A.
But it just seems like at some point, no matter who they have on the roster, something always goes wrong for them.
So I don't wanna I know that was that wasn't with.
I know that wasn't with Cronin as the coach, but until I see them do it for a whole season consistently or maybe even two whole seasons at this point, I need to see them put together a couple of strong seasons in a row before I'm like, Yeah, you see all these back? Yeah, I'm just sold on.
How? Finishing the season? 11 and three.
Um, And if you go back and look at all of their losses other than the last game of the season, they were just allowing in the high seventies or eighties, which isn't Cronin style, and definitely not this team style.
They're not built to win shootouts.
The one shootout they did end up winning was against wazoo, which isn't anything spectacular.
So when this defense is rolling on, Cronin has them playing their style, which it seems that they found towards the towards the end of January towards the end of the season.
I saw the ceiling might be too much of a recency bias here, but I'm hiring these guys.
I think they're an easy contention for the title.
Might be buying into Cronin a little too much here, but I don't know.
Let's let's go u C L A and see what they could do just because I don't know.
I just think I'm drinking their Cronin Kool Aid here.
I mean, I'd be drinking ITM Or if you didn't lose your reef, O Neill, But that Z whatever.
Uh, college basketball's better when you feel a better at basketball.
So I'm going on the narrative.
Well, yeah, All right.
So our final two squads, Stephen and I have them flip flopped.
So let's hit up.
Stanford first two.
I have winning it.
He he has him coming in second.
So 20 and 12 last season nine and nine and Conference, which really killed them.
Uh, they're bringing back 75% of their team, and these guys are.
I like Cronin's defensive abilities here.
Uh, Haas's ability and there and Stanford's last season was just unreal.
Seventh best efficient defense overall in the nation had a ugly lost the Cal in the Pac 12 tourney.
But I'm huge on Dil Silva, and it's just if Tyler Terry is coming back next season, our Tyrell Terry is coming back next season, I would say Hands down.
This team has it locked up and then the bag.
But since they lose him, I like Spencer Jones.
I like to Silva, like the John Davis.
I think that's your top three combos.
Air, especially with Zaire Williams coming in as a freshman.
So I think this team just has all its bases covered and is finally gonna put it together when the Pac 12.
I mean, obviously I like him Ah lot toe, have them move all the way up to two.
But the only thing is is I think There's just somebody justus good with.
I mean, I'll say it a better head coach who is right there with him.
Obviously, you gotta love is out here, Williams.
He's gonna be an absolute force wherever they feel like playing them.
And then you have a lot of good guys who can get bench minutes in. Max Morel.
Michael O'Connell, Noah Tait's, um, it's, I mean, have getting DeSilva back was the biggest thing for them.
I don't know if there even with that your Williams.
I don't know if they're this high without DiCillo.
Yeah, like he is just a massive player for them And Tyrell Terry.
He's only it's tough for me to figure him out because you only averaged 3.
2 assists last year.
I think day John Davis is a better true point guard than Terry was last year.
Well, Terry ain't playing, so you don't gotta worry about it.
Don't wait where he Did he just come into the draft? No, I think he's still in the portal.
I don't even think I saw him in the portal.
He's in the draft my bad.
Yeah, he's still in the draft.
Um, so, yeah, I mean, that makes it even better for day John Davis and lets them get a little bit.
It makes some have a really good veteran pick and roll combo with Davis and DeSilva, and then you bring in the freshman.
I think they're gonna be good.
I think I don't know if Stanford can handle Freshman's up and downs the way teams like in Arizona or like a USC can, but I think they'll be good.
I think it'll be a battle between them and the team we talk about next.
I have I have tow like Jaden Delaire.
He's from He's actually from a really small town in Connecticut, which is surprising, and he said he went to public school.
That doesn't make any sense for him to go to a public school in Connecticut and be at Stanford, but we'll take it.
I'll root for him, and I'll root for Stanford to come in a solid second place in the Pac 12 this year.
He had the smarts toe be able to make it.
All right, let's get into the sun Devils forks up A s U last season went 20 and 11 overall, 11 and seven in conference.
So thes teams just beating up in conference play, which really just hurts their ability at the end of the season.
But maybe it strengthens the R P. I.
So you never know.
But yes A S u returning 65% of the rosters with the better Hurley.
As to coach, I said it.
I'm just waiting for you to talk before I keep going.
But the only time he was, the better Hurley was when they were playing college basketball.
He is definitely not the better coach.
Dan's done that.
More places, and he's done it at smaller schools.
And now he's doing it at a big school.
But he doesn't have Remi Martin now, that's what That's where I like with this squad.
You don't know where he keeps the Remy Martin.
You might not keep it on the court.
You might keep it in the desk drawer, but, you know, they they both got one for sure.
Yeah, but when, uh, with Rommie gets hot, man, that's where I like to squad to take it home.
If him and very gay put it together, especially with Joshua Christopher.
Um, a lot of lot of solid talent here.
I don't know if I'm just not buying on the last names.
Woods from getting burned with thinking seventh, Woods was going to be a great college basketball player that just completely flared out.
Bring in the younger Bagley Azaz.
Well, they have the pieces.
I just like Stanford.
Step a little bit more than these guys do, because I think they're going to be a top six heavy compared to Stanford's can swinging guys when needed.
Yeah, I mean, obviously, I love Josh. Christopher.
I love Marcus Bagley.
I think it will be all right, even though he's more of a juco guy, not a not necessarily a true freshman guy and then Patio de Zoo via I think he could be.
He could be the difference.
Just being one of those overseas guys.
He's probably played something a little bit closer to pro ball, and he's got more of that pro size already at 68 to 35.
And obviously not having Hollande Woods or Luther Mohammed this year isn't gonna be great for them.
But at the same time, they don't really need it With Remi Martin and, uh, Alonso over gay as their backcourt.
And you still got Kamani Lawrence Romelo White did end up leaving, right? He's somewhere he's going.
Yeah, So you got them.
But you got Jalen Graham.
Who's going to be a sop****re coming back.
You got Tayshaun Cherry.
They don't have, like, that true seven footer, but they're going to get up and down.
They're going to shoot the ball.
They're just gonna try to be more athletic than you.
And I think they're top end.
Guys are finally gonna take him over the top.
My my biggest concern with them is they're not gonna have the curtain of distraction.
That's gonna be tough.
I almost thought about dropping the number two just because of that.
What distraction you think it's gonna be? No, I'm not sure if they have one.
Which is why I almost thought about dropping him down to two.
Oh, I got you. I got you.
What? I don't know.
I like I definitely like this team.
Just not as much as I think, Stanford's ability to ball out next year.
And if these guys go up A S.
C is gonna try toe, I wouldn't say run up the score because they definitely arm or suited to play high tempo, high mawr high style than they than the other guys do.
But three straight wall assistant your year with U. C L. A.
USC in Washington just put a bad taste in my mouth. Andi.
They're efficient, but relies a little bit too much on Rummy and very gay.
If those to get done, you need the freshman to come up and is badly going to be a 10 point per game score.
If he is, they got the title.
If he hangs around more of the 5 to 8, I think it goes to Stanford.
I'm thinking, I'm thinking definitely 10 maybe maybe closer to 15.
Then then then then once Christopher Martin a Virgo going to score there and be putting up 90 every game.
There's gonna put up 90 every game early.
Hurley's don't care.
They just wanted.
They just want all their players to get as far as they can.
So you guys were staying in the game.
We're running up the score.
We are having the most fun possible, and we're putting up 80 to 90 points a game on everyone.
Well, then you'll definitely want to tune in for their late games to see that.
Okay, E mean I plan on it.
Alright, so let's let's recap our top six real quick.
And then let's get into our first team all conference.
Six Arizona, fifth Oregon and fourth U.
And third Sun Devils and second than the trees and number one.
Alright, so I got.
I also have you taught six.
I have organ at five u C l.
A at four Arizona three Stanford it to Arizona State at one.
Let's see who ends up coming out on top with Stanford, Arizona, or is it gonna be so on and that we didn't pick really doubt that happening, But let's get into our starting five or who we think might come in first team all conference.
Let's just I'm just going to stick with the squad that we covered and I'm giving Rami Marin my starting point guard spot.
All right? Yeah, that's solid.
I mean, he's been doing it for three years.
He's gonna be good I got McKinley right from Colorado as my, uh, starting point guard.
Two ballers right there at my second guard.
Gonna go a little bit bigger here and put Matt Bradley there of cow.
Yeah, I want I want the athleticism all around the court.
So I'm taking the freshman Josh Christopher as my starting shooting guard.
Yeah, you're going on the prospect.
I'm getting two guys right here that I know is going to score more than 18 points per game for their team next year.
So I'm just going with scoring at the guards at four.
Going to keep up the scoring and go with Ethan Thompson of Oregon State, thinking he keeps it rolling and is the catalyst of that team.
So I think he gets one of the spots.
Yeah, at small forward.
I'm keeping up the athletic do it all player, and I'm taking Zeier.
Williams from Stanford.
I'll hear young guys.
I got Oscar dela Silva Stanford.
I think he could probably win player the conference next year.
So gotta give it to my boy to Silva, who's going to carry them to the top? Yeah, and then I'm going with my reason that Arizona State's ends up on top.
I'm taking the other freshman, Marcus Bagley, as my other forward.
I don't know, man.
You might be drinking that freshman Kool Aid with Burnett's in it, but I like it.
I like stop buying on these guys right now.
If they do end up winning it and these two guys get into the lottery easily, make sure you at Stephen let them know you're with, um, then at center.
This is probably my toughest part.
You kind of sold me on who you have there, but I'm gonna stick with Jalen Hill of U C L.
A. And just in upperclassmen here.
We got to keep it going.
It's Evan Mobley, the highest rated freshman in the conference from USC, is playing center for May.
So you got four freshmen and a sop****re.
Or is the McKinley right? A senior McKinley writes a senior.
He can teach all these young guys and then I play position less basketball with four good scores.
Who could do everything? All right.
Well, given who are coach is gonna be, we might be able to out scheme you, but that is the Pac 12 conference right there.
Make sure you add us if you lock in your bets or let us know that you're telling us on stuff.

They're a top 25 team.
And I know I stopped giving rants on that other website or whatever.
Who had, you know, their their list had to have just been, like, let's do the random name generator and see who comes in first through 40 fit, because that thing was absolute garbage.
Yeah, well, let's see, They're They're going acquired by big time websites.
But the breakdown sports is definitely bigger than who they're getting covered with.
So, uh, not not gonna tell you to come out with the cubs talk when the fish just, uh, pounded you today.
Yeah, it was It was one bad inning.
I don't know what happened.
I was driving home.
That was That was the problem.
I wasn't sitting at home watching the game.
They played it too early.
If I was watching the game, that wouldn't have happened.
Wow, That's our episode for the week, Stephen.
I think we play each other in fantasy soon.
So, uh, at the end of one of these episodes coming up, you might hear some **** talking.
Going on in the breakdown, Lee.
But we'll catch you all next week with the Big East Conference preview.
Thank you all for watching.
And we'll see you guys later.
Yeah, See you later.
