just got me mill.
Yeah, I'm doing a photo.
So you don't have that weird little, uh like, Yeah, you know, that's smart.
And I've done that every times, but I I haven't made a habit of it.
All right, man, we're live.
We're peach Basket.
We are here today to talk about the N B A finals, everything they set, we got our teams, the bubble, you know, in Johnny and I started talking about this when we first started doing this on SportsCastr.
All we talked about was the bubble.
How was the bubble gonna be? What was it gonna be like? What were the rules gonna be? Was it gonna work? We got our thoughts, and here we are at the end of it.
There's two teams standing.
It's the Lakers in the Miami and I think it's safe to say neither one of us pick these two teams, right? I don't think very many did Certainly the Lakers, but I think the heat are a bit of a surprise.
Fair to say, right? Yeah.
So let's talk about the matchup.
We're going to dig into it pretty specifically.
We're gonna talk about you know what the he'd have to do to win with the Lakers have to do to win who? The possible X factor is on both sides.
And then, uh, feed the fire.
We're gonna We're gonna make our picks and who wins and who the final MVPs.
But if we get all of that as riveting as it is, I didn't want to let this opportunity go without talking about the Clippers.
Um, I'm not gonna bash him.
We've been bashing in the last couple of times.
We got together and they deserve to be bashed.
And today, the first head rolled because of what happened to them in this off season or probably in this playoff season, Uh, Doc Rivers was let go.
It was a bit of a surprise.
Um, to me, I was surprised.
I didn't think e mean, it's not like his contract was expiring.
He had another year or two left.
I think he's had he's by far the greatest and most successful coach in history, the Clippers.
But that's not saying a lot.
Um and he never did what he was brought in to Dio and that is get him past, you know, and not even win a championship.
Get him to the finals would have been amazing.
And if you would have done that, I think his job is safe.
But he didn't do it.
And he is the only coach in NBA history to lose Siri's, um, when he was up, 31 and he's done it three times, that was it, man.
I think that was the straw that broke the camel's back and he's gone.
Johnny brought a really good article about what the Clippers need to do in order to be where the Lakers are next season.
And I'm going to kind of bounce this off of you here, you know, because you wrote it.
I thought it was a good read and you threw out a coaching name.
I had to look up. I'll be honest.
I didn't know who he waas, Um, but tell me who you think are your candidates to replace stock next season.
Yeah, I mean, Tyler, who seems like the favorite and the most obvious.
Uh, I mean quick transition.
He's in there, probably have respect to the get the guys.
D'Antoni is the wild card.
I mean, I think he I really want to see him in New Orleans.
I think it be really fun to watch him with that young New Orleans seen, but I think that Tony is a great coach and he could bring a little something new.
Thio the Clippers as well, but the Dark Coast was aging.
And Griffin, he's the Raptors assistant coach.
He has, ah, lot of buzz on Nick Nurses, staff.
We know that the rapture well coached team hey, was co wise coach in Toronto.
So has some familiarity there.
Um, so some fresh blood would also be nice.
You know, it's, uh coaching is like a game of re treads and a lot of guys going from one job to another.
So some fresh blood would be interesting for the Clippers to I think they go with Tyler.
You I think it just it makes the most sense it does.
It seems very, very logical.
Steve Bomber, you know, historically is a Microsoft executive.
I'm in the tech industry, so I know a little bit about about him in that world.
He wasn't the type of guy to make the easy choice.
Um, he was always about pushing boundaries and and just just going a little off center.
So I think he might make the Tyler decision on Lee because, you know, this is I mean, he's had a few years, obviously, leading the Clippers, But I think it goes against the grain.
What's he gets more comfortable.
I don't think Tyler would be the decision because it's too easy.
But I think this time it might be, I think normally somebody like Steve Obama would would would just look a little off center for somebody on your guy, I think is a great, great choice.
Um, Nick nurse was was, was not a neck citing pick when he came in and took over the Raptors.
Look what he did.
Um, so yeah, we'll see.
I think it's important.
Obviously, getting the right person in there is important.
Um, but we'll see.
The only thing I'll add before we get onto the finals is, uh, you know, I think the Clippers major problem is they've never made it to the Western Conference finals.
They've never gotten there.
They've never got into the game that gets you to the game, and Mike D'Antoni is a good coach.
He's an exciting coach.
I think him with the pills would be amazing.
But this is the coach has never got to the finals in all these years coaching.
And so I just think a team that's never made it to the Western Conference finals with the coaches never made it to the Finals.
I don't know, man.
I just don't see that clicking.
I don't think that's a good match.
If I was a bet man tile, Ooh, the Clippers, D'Antoni at the public to the Pelicans and Doc Rivers.
Thio, Houston that Zika, Houston.
I've heard a lot of buzz about, uh, go into Philly.
Actually, I heard that, too.
I heard that, too.
I heard that, too, and that that would be great. Aziz.
Well, I mean the thing about coach, you know Doc Rivers.
He's a good players coach, and you know he's going to do enough to get you to the playoffs and to excel.
He's not great in making adjustments.
I think that's what cost him the Clippers job.
Ultimately, and that's what cost him a 31 lead where Frank Vogel pulled JaVale McGee and brought in Dwight Howard because it was a better matchup, pulled Dwight Howard.
When they were just getting destroyed by the Rockets, Doc Rivers didn't see that.
He didn't do that.
Hey, didn't commit Thio Zoo bots.
Hey, fell in love with this.
Expanded the year even when he was a plane as well, he couldn't.
He just didn't make adjustments, man.
But yeah, I think he could get filly over the hump.
Um, Houston, I don't know.
That's a good coaching job, because I don't know, I'm just not.
I've never been a big fan of Houston Rockets anyway, but we'll see.
I've already made my claim.
Will stick with a We'll see where he lands.
But yeah, I've got going Thio coach's son again in Houston. Which would be kind interesting.
I didn't think about what surprises me.
Yeah, yeah, and Austin will get his 40 minutes. Then we'll see.
We'll see what happens.
It's tough finals, man. That's what we're here for.
That's the topic of the day.
The games tomorrow, um, Miami versus the Lakers.
I'll let you start to feel like I've talked a lot already.
You you came up with questions, and I think they're great. Number one.
What did the heat have to do to win the finals.
E think two things make shots, which is an obvious when both you got to make shots.
But the heat are gonna bomb from three.
They have to shoot well from three.
And they have to have somebody who can defend or make life difficult on Anthony Davis.
So I think that person's bam and I think that he can make shots.
So spoiler, I think he'd have a chance.
But I think bam is gonna be the toughest player that A D s had to go up against.
I think he's gonna make him work on both ends.
Um, but it comes down Thio the heat rope, other to the heat role players Tyler hero Duncan Robinson, Jae Crowder.
Uh, they have to make their shots because they're going to space the floor.
They're gonna run dragons and bam off the pick and roll, make space for shooters, and they're just gonna make those open shots.
They're deeper than the Lakers.
Uh, Lakers have obviously one and two, but three through nine is Miami, and I mean, that's how it's been for most of the Siri's.
I think Miami is the best defensive team the Lakers faced so far in the playoffs will be interesting to see.
Um, yeah, My Okay.
Miami waas e I First off, I agree with, you know, spoiler.
I think Miami's got a chance.
I think they've got a legitimate chance.
Um, but for that to happen a lot. Gotta go.
Um, but it's happened before Villanova beat Georgetown, Right? Uh, what was it? Uh, ****mbe Mutombo.
Year the number 18.
Teams sometimes getting roles.
And in the bubble, we know anything can happen anything.
So here's what I think has happened for in a lot of what I'm gonna say is what you said.
First off, I think the starters for the heat, they've got to be it 90% of greater right.
They've got to hit 90% of what they're capable of.
Head points wise, defensive wise, they've got to be at their best, and I mean across the board, every game they win, nobody's gonna sweep anybody in this final serious.
I'll tell you that right now, I don't see that happening, but Miami's gotta be 90% across the board to be the Lakers.
Um, that means Butler and Bio, a drag Ege and Duncan Robinson.
Um, Jae Crowder has got to excel defensively, and he's gonna be the guy who's gonna get those open shots you called him out to.
He's got to hit those shots.
I think that's the That's the piece that the Lakers gonna kind of back up off of.
They're going to give him some shots.
He's gotta make him on Ben.
Yeah, the benches key.
You know, you called it out, I think.
Tyler hero who was unbelievable, uh, in a game.
But you just saw the confidence in the studio just off the charts.
Uh, he's not scared of the moment.
We'll see what happens when he's in the finals against LeBron James.
It doesn't get any more momentous than that, but so far he's proven that he is not scared of anything on.
He's gonna take the shots, so he's got to be incredible on offense.
Andre Iguodala is gonna be incredible defense, and then you brought up bam and a D Do you think they're gonna go against each other? Uh, I don't know that they're going to guard each other exclusively because, you know, because of foul trouble.
These guys stars and they gotta play right.
But, you know, when it's a key possession, you're right.
The band is gonna guard I D and Bam King Gardez D.
Nobody could stop him, right? I read an article today that there are no stoppers.
There are slow Er's right, but bam is a slower.
He could slow it down a little bit, and nobody has been able to do that.
Um, so it's going to be a really good Siri's, but you know it generally, in short, for Miami, everything's got to go right.
They've got to be a 90% or above.
Can they do that in four games? Absolutely, Absolutely.
So that that's what I think from Miami.
What the Lakers have to do to win this pretty much what we've been saying since the start of the bubble, right? A D and Brown have to play peak level, and they need one or two of their role players to step up for four games.
That's pretty much it, whether it's Rondo, Dwight KCP Kuzma Caruso.
Guys that can step up for you every night but could step up.
Each one can have a game.
And if run in a d have are playing at their peak, then I think it's like you're serious to lose.
Yeah, I already disagree, right? The 200 monster has been spectacular A lot better than I thought they would be in their first year together.
I didn't think they were going to be that good.
I didn't think Dwight Howard was gonna be that good.
I didn't think Rajon Rondo was gonna be that good.
Ah, lots gone right for the Lakers.
And they got to keep that up.
So yeah, I said, I D and LeBron has got to be healthy.
And the book gotta be engaged.
Um, it's odd to see Anthony Davis sometimes sleepwalk, you know, through a quarter.
Um, he sometimes he's just isn't he just isn't engaged, and I'm not sure why.
And you'll see that for a quarter.
You'll see it for half in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, he picks it up a little bit and I don't know if he's just pacing himself.
I don't know what it is, but this is the finals.
He's got to be engaged the whole time um, no quarters off, no possessions off.
I now no doubt that they will be, but we'll just see if they're on.
Right. But those two have got to be spectacular.
And then, yeah, after that, I think defensively, they've got to keep Miami close.
I think if it's a close game, the Lakers have proven that Take a lock down just about any team.
Um, so they've got to keep Miami close.
You know, they can't let Tyler herro go off on a Steph Curry, like, you know, barrage of threes and get the game far away from defensively.
Got to keep them close.
And then let's see what I say here it can be read my writing bench needs.
What you said, Really? I just said it a different way.
We need the Lakers.
Need at least a couple of guys.
We're gonna averaged eight points.
Plus, right, aside from LeBron and 80 eso guys like Caruso, I don't think you can average a but, you know, Kuzma certainly can KCP can.
So they need somebody else.
LeBron and idea gonna get there. 30 25.
They've got They've gotta have some 8 to 10 8 to 15 guys on Dwight McGee have got to just lock down bam.
Which they could dio they can dio um, so yeah, yeah, Lakers.
It's the same old story.
It's what's got him here.
Uh, and they do that, they'll they'll likely win the Siri's um x factor Who you got.
It was the X factor for the heat.
I'm gonna It's it's a toss up because the the right thing to say is probably the whole heat bench and anybody guarding LeBron any of those big guys.
But I'm gonna go with with corn baggage.
Yeah, because he has been playing great in the bubble.
He is going to be tough for anybody the Lakers to guard.
Uh, they're gonna throw somebody's at him and he's gonna take some pressure off Tyler hero Duncan Robinson, the shooters and him and banned running that pick and roll is gonna be a lot of the heat offense.
Yeah, so I mean, I think if Gordon plays well, uh, he will make itself in the Lakers Lakers defensively.
Which is why I think the Lakers, I'm gonna jump out a little bit.
The Lakers X factor is Rondo and Dwight eso.
They need Rondo to play defense and facilitate when Bronson on the court because they need a ball handler and they need Dwight Thio play defense and rebounds because he's not going against you is a different kind of animal going against bands against Yokich.
Uh, like you can try to bully banned.
I don't think it's gonna work.
Bands of strong dude bands, a tough dude. Bands of skill.
Dude, Ban is not gonna get punked by Dwight, so if Dwight plays well, he'll stay on the court.
But I could easily see Dwight just getting bullied and in foul trouble quick and he becomes unplayable.
And then it's a whole new Siri's.
So Dwight and Rondo couple, couple old heads, you know, in a new place for the Lakers.
Yeah, you know, it's scary.
If you would have told me at the start of the season the Lakers were gonna be in the finals and it came down to how good Rajon Rondo and Dwight Howard played, I would have said they have no chance.
I had no faith in either of those two guys, no confidence.
But, you know, they proved me wrong, and both have played really, really well.
They've got another four games in them.
Yeah, that's it's gonna be key.
Um, back to the heat for me. Next factor.
I called him on already was Tyler hero.
I was ridiculously impressed with the guys.
Confident swagger, his defense, his hands.
I think the kids 19 or 20 it just blows my mind how good he is.
Um, you know, and not just making shots, but making the right shots and, uh, taking those shots and talking to his teammates.
Uh, he he's the kind of guy who e think it was.
It wasn't the final game against the Celtics.
I think this game before where he had some 35 36 points, he looked like Steph Curry.
I mean, he was He was just launching from distance, and it was just effortless, effortless, Um, and having a guy like that, you know, on your team, who could absolutely go for, you know, 30 to 40 points is on your bench is pretty spectacular.
Nobody short of the Clippers have that, you know, obviously didn't do the Clippers any good, but Lou Williams wasn't Lewin in the bubble, but Tyler hero could be that guy.
And if he going up against the second team Lakers more than likely a tease for a good portion of it can go off and and score.
You know, 10 12 in a row on give him a cushion.
That that's gonna be pretty, pretty special.
He's a pretty special player, you know? He's really And I mean, he was doing that against Marcus Smart.
A lot of the time in the South.
The Lakers don't have anybody on March of smart level.
Yeah, Caruso is the only one who comes close, and he's a good defender.
Who? Great Segway.
Caruso is my X factor for the Lakers.
Caruso went away a couple of times, Um, in the semifinals.
Western Conference semi, um, or Western Conference finals.
Rather and again, it was baffling, you know, he was over four.
You know, he wasn't making a great defensive plays.
We're just used to seeing him, you know, with the great pass with a great dunk with the shot.
He's an energizer for this team, you know, and I'm a big Caruso fan.
I love this story.
You know I've got a Caruso Karush o T shirt because I should have warned.
Um, I like the guy.
I think he's It's pretty incredible stories.
Good. It's a good story, needs a good player.
And I had a hard time trying to figure out who this guy waas, you know, in in Laker lore, and it finally dawned.
Um, it's a throwback, but he's Michael Cooper for this team, right? He comes off the bench, He plays closer minutes. Some.
You know, Oftentimes you can hit the three he can defend.
He's blocking shots.
He's making dunks.
That was all Michael Cooper on the Magic Johnson Showtime Lakers.
That's who this guy is, and Michael Cooper could turn the game on its heel.
He could lock down Larry Bird.
Larry Bird said that was the toughest defender he'd ever faced.
Now Caruso isn't on that level, but he's that kind of player, Um, and and if he kind of just gonna rise up a notch, man and just be that lock down defender and hit that big because he's going to get the open threes for the Lakers, that Jae Crowder, I think, is gonna get from Miami.
He's gotta hit him.
He's got to make the right play.
Caruso could turn a game on that.
That's all they need.
I mean, if Caruso turns one game free, he's done his job 100% 100%.
All right, so those are the X factor.
So that's That's the heat.
The Lakers, before we get our prediction, this is what I was jotting down before way got started.
Things is absolutely unscientific, but I started to kind of just compare player to player, um, to see where the gaps were.
Right? So you got LeBron announced.
Our study is playing phenomenally.
They got Jimmy Butler, who, you know, I'm not equating him to LeBron, but that's the closest player they've got to LeBron and he's close.
And I mean, we're third were almost 40 minutes, and that's the first time we brought up Jimmy Butler.
The he just have so many you know what I mean and they have a They have a lot of guys, and I mean, Jimmy has not shot the ball well all season, but he's made a work.
He's getting to the line.
He's always gonna play good d.
He's you know, he's not afraid to take the big shot, gets to the bucket and get fouled.
We didn't even bring him up, but I mean yeah, well, it's good to see Jimmy Jimmy in the finals.
And that We'll see if he is who he thinks he is, right? He says he is, because you got to prove it in the big stage, and he's there, and I have no doubt he will be.
I mean, he's a phenomenal player.
And you could again unscientific.
You got LeBron. You got Jimmy.
They're going to cancel each other out again. Unscientific.
You got a D. Same kind of player. Let's say that.
Cancel each other out.
And you got Roger on Rondo, a veteran savvy point guard.
Drag it on the other end.
Right? So I could see that similarity.
You got Danny Green again.
A vet who could defend who can hit the three.
Got Andre Iguodala, right? It's a lot of similarities there, but then, you know, I went down the list, and what the Lakers have that I don't see an equivalent for on the Miami side is somebody like Dwight Howard and somebody like Markieff Morris, those two guys and I didn't hesitate to make the max factor's you called white out of the X factor.
And And, you know, again I e think this is, You know, where I really agree with you.
They don't have a player like Dwight.
They don't have a big off the bench was gonna come and get you hard minutes, You know, six hard fouls, no easy labs.
Um, you know, Ah, former defensive player of the year.
Somebody who's been to the finals before Lakers have got more final experience than he to talk about that That's gonna be important on then.
Just, you know, a guy who can hit the three.
Not a great defender, but, you know, good bully ball kind of guy.
Those are the guys that I think Miami doesn't have Anybody equivalent.
Um, which really doesn't mean anything this unscientific, But again, it kind of speaks to the Lakers edge so that all being said, you go first.
What's your prediction? I'm gonna go.
I'm going heating seven.
I thought I was going to drop the bomb.
Alright, Alright, Alright, Alright. Okay.
I already made my pick online.
I'm hedging just a little, but I'll stick with what I said.
I got the heat six o e.
You did drop the bomb.
You want on your right there? Yeah, Yeah, by one.
But, you know, we got this.
I I really thought I would be the only person picking the heat, and I kind of feel bad.
I'm doing it because the Lakers are just not good, and it seems wrong to pick against him.
I do think if it goes seven, the Lakers gonna win.
Um, the only chance that he'd have is to take it in six and so on.
But I think they know that you're not gonna win a game seven against LeBron James.
Um, so yeah, I think it's I think it's been phenomenal.
I've got heating six.
Or like there's a seven, But I'll go.
I'll go heating six.
He Who is your father? Who's your finals? M v p E.
Jimmy buckets, man, He's gotta be there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So I mean, seven, I'm all in on Bam.
Bam is probably my favorite player in the n B A right now.
I mean, I think if they win the Syriza's because bam is playing out of his mind on both ends, um, that that means like he's playing well on offense and he's playing Goody on Anthony Davis.
And so if the heat are gonna win, I'm taking bam.
Jimmy might get it, because that's what they do with the Finals MVP.
Give it to the best player on the team, the most popular player on the team.
But I think if he do win, it's gonna be because of them is going to be their best player.
I didn't write it all down, but I'm gonna remember this.
And when it's over, we're gonna come back together.
We're gonna see We'll see that as bragging rights.
And we'll let on a random Laker fan to blast us if we were, uh, absolutely.
I mean, yeah, I mean, and this is coming from the same two guys who were picking the Clippers.
All your So it's true.
Take it with the grain of salt.

Hey, come out in the second half and steal game one.
That's that's my full game prediction.
Lakers have lost every game.
