We also bring on a guest every week below Mohammed UFC welterweight.
He'll join us towards the end.
So we're gonna have some time to catch up some of the latest news, including Kobe Covington versus Jorge Mas, with all apparently in the works goes uh, John Jones.
You could never figure out what he wants to do next.
Is he gonna fight a heavyweight for the heavyweight title? Next? Is he gonna drop back toe light heavyweight where he used to rule the division? Or is he gonna tangle with a middleweight eventually, Probably at 205 or heavyweight, we don't know.
In Israel. Adesanya.
We'll definitely cover that this weekend.
By the way, Holly Holm and I read all Donna are gonna be headlining a UFC fight night out in Fight Island, Yas Island, The u A e Abu Dhabi, Whatever.
Same place, okay, on its pretty historic goes if you think about it Not to get all into the history of that nation, But women haven't really been featured.
You know, in, uh, in the entertainment world in the sporting world in a headline type of arena will say, Yeah, I mean, historic.
And And the thing is, I feel like I feel like it's being even.
Mawr embraced now, like I think at first it was something that, like, All right, this is just something that comes along with the package.
Now I think it's actually being embraced out there, which is really cool.
Eso don't get us wrong.
I mean, let me specify one more time.
Like, for example, Caitlin Vera and surgery.
Eubanks just thought the week before.
But these ladies are the main event this weekend.
So, like I say, I think it's pretty historic a t least in our sport.
I mean, I may stand corrected.
Perhaps other forms of entertainment have have featured the female, you know, in a starring role like that.
Ah, times are changing.
And I'm sorry, I don't I don't keep up with the With the scene over there too much other than combat sports, I guess W w e I mean, I'll give an example.
I know a few years ago W W we went, and I believe, Do they do they refer to them as the divas anymore or just the women's roster? Certain hesitations.
What was it was in the last decade way.
It was the one where we went thio t mobile.
Right? Right, but But I'm talking about Even before that, I could have sworn I remember, um a lot of the females I wouldn't say they weren't welcome, but they were just They weren't featured, you know, the way they're featured in the arena.
Siri's here, but anyway, they're fighting, and I'm happy for them. E.
It's this one, the one last year with Tyson Fury's Yeah, I think so, because Brock Lesner heck is that that's three of the four aren't even part of the the actual W W rotation.
The other one was Braun Stroman, right? He think at one point became there, champ and, uh, Kane.
He's retired from Emma and then w w cut him.
Brock Lesner is a free agent.
I think he just his contract expired.
I don't think he'll ever get cut per se.
And who knows if he's been resigned because that was a few weeks ago.
I read about that one.
Of course, Tyson Fury, I think, was just dipping in on.
Now he's the boxing champions, the boxing.
That's an interesting day because we know that was a year ago and everything's changed.
Yeah, we had to go and do interviews with these guys, so it's a big press conference.
Then we had to do interviews, but it was our first time we've had W W E guys in our studio before, But this was the first time us interviewing them with them being in character, right? So it was a little strange, Remember? Like the way you had toe work, your questions.
And it was an odd day.
We were trying to get into the psyche of the W W E guy and play along.
Um, Rey Misterio.
There were times where way wanted Thio.
At least get a little bit of the m m a site out of them possibly provide content for our website.
Um, I asked Ron Stroman to be whatever fight and Emma and right away you go. I can't make 2.
65 and I was like, Yeah, you have a point, I guess.
But I do have a super heavyweight division, and I think something could be done if it really wants on it too, I guess.
But I didn't mean as a regular member of the heavyweight roster and us, he doesn't have a super heavyweight division.
But like I said, the U.
S C can do whatever they want.
I think if they really wanted to, they could have three tube in at £300 fight.
I don't think I mean, I don't think it be that unusual if it was a money maker, regardless, um, also, another thing I want to talk about is Matt Pack, Right? Caught her, McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, which has been talked about folks that can happen because of many reasons.
One, the UFC has already embraced one of their fighters fighting in a big name in a big price fight in boxing.
That was May Mac, Mayweather and McGregor about three years ago.
It's like that, and this one would be McGregor and Pacquiao.
And I'm saying, Mac pack, you notice the A side always goes.
First of all, who's the A side? McGregor is bigger than Paco are in boxing.
I know Pacquiao's obviously bigger, but in all, like what they bring to the table in terms of social media.
I think it's still packing, Really.
E might have to push back.
I think McGregor might be the eighth side here.
Worldwide, though, world wet.
Well, put it this way.
How many other people in this world named Pacquiao do you know? Like it's just the name that Okay, Name off all of my records, you know? Well, I don't know.
I can't name one, but I'm sure there's soccer players or something, right? There's gotta be other.
I literally cannot name another man or another pack.
Like when you hear that.
But that doesn't determine what I'm talking about.
Yeah, McGregor's reached that status, though his social media is tremendous.
I think it be really close and it goes where Thio and present that Pacquiao has more.
I go Okay, I got it wrong.
I think it's close.
I think it's definitely close.
But for some reason, I think like I've seen that Manny negotiate these salaries and they're in that range of what I think Connor got paid for for Floyd.
I could see this one being a 50 50 split or one of them because of the ego insisting on 51.
Who knows? Because, man, he's so like Just come on, let's fight.
You know, he it's a lot of money.
He realizes it and he goes and he does it, Um, here's the other thing, guys.
So the use, he's already done this.
It's not like the use.
It's not like you can say the U.
S. You will never go for that. They've done it.
Pacquiao is part of paradigm.
That's the same management firm that also represents Israel out of San Economy.
Gregor, Chris Sideboard, Stephen Thompson, all those guys.
So, really, it's just a matter of audio tar, their CEO and president or whatever.
Talking to Manny figuring out the numbers.
Would that make you happy, Pac man? Yeah. Okay.
Connor, I'm kind of familiar with what will make you happy.
And then now, presenting something that they can promote, Probably others.
Ufa Boxing, Right? You can only have to touch me whether promotions or nothing.
Or does many yet, man still top rank? I believe he is.
Okay, but I definitely don't think he's a free agent. Eso.
Then it would be a talk.
I'll be something which involves by barhamand Dana White.
Holy hell, I don't know.
We're getting too deep into the weeds here, but I just think like I say, you're using less people to do all of this negotiating and talking.
Um, though, if you ask Dana White apparently him and Leonard Ellerbe, they got that other deal done pretty quickly.
You know, I think it was just what do you think of that number? Sure.
What do you think of this number? Sure.
Well, I think we could do it.
All right, let's do it.
Um, Connor didn't have to subject himself toe walking in second.
He was the b side.
Um, e I asked that question to at the your see.
They weren't the p I.
That was three years ago.
The P I has been around that long.
Now, e remember asking that question just to see if they know I would would battle.
And I asked Leonard Ellerbe, I think I asked, except for both gentlemen.
But Leonard goes, man, you know where the eighth side.
He said, It's so cool on.
I think Dana just said, I don't want to get into this like, whatever popularity wise like, let's just throw that all aside.
Just the fact that it's in a boxing ring, I think makes one guy the a side on the other guy.
If you're going into the cage, then I think, yeah, then maybe you say Conner should walk out.
Last, right? I think it's a little bit of a respect thing as well, you know, aside from just where your placement is in combat sports.
And but I'll bet you they talk about it because look at Connor's the ego in those Dems that he divulged.
I don't wait for anybody, you know.
It's like you want kebab, and they're trying to put you in a position to fight Habib.
But you don't wanna be the guy on standby.
You didn't wanna be the coming event if they give you somewhere else.
And you didn't want to wait out the Beeb's timeline, which, in a way, that makes you a little bit of a bridesmaid.
Um, but you could just see that that, you know, I mean, he was the co main event with or No, he was even the comment he was a feature about with Dustin foyer when Jones fought.
Do you see, the first time I agree with you just reached a certain status that you ain't trying to hear that you know, I agree with that.
That reasoning and I also disagree.
I agree with it in the sense that yeah, that probably works, but it works in m m A.
But in boxing, so I m m a.
We're talking about Connor negotiating to get what, at the most, maybe a $10 million painting, right? I don't know.
He got paid 30 plus pay per view.
You know, in M m a m a 10 let's say best case scenario.
Well, I think he gets to mill to show and then pay per view.
And that pay per view can work out to anywhere between no less than 10.
But I think he can get to, I think he said the 30 to 50 range, depending on goes him and Habib.
5 million people, that's pretty Whatever it is, it ain't anywhere near what he would get in boxing against Mayweather against Mayweather.
Right? So I think in that scenario where he stands to make even more money, I think that's where Connor just kind of concedes a little bit.
He warned against pack out.
He didn't say no, No, no, he wouldn't.
Mm eso his reasoning where maybe he would put his foot down in a negotiation and mixed martial arts.
I agree with that.
But in this negotiation, when boxing, where he could make double, maybe triple the money, I think maybe he can put his foot down on a couple of things, but then I think he kind of checks himself and says, like, I ain't gonna pass up 80 million or whatever just because I wanna walk out last year's you know, **** like that.
So I think he has to get promoted.
And I think, really, if you think about it, he's going in there with house money.
He's not really supposed to be a Pac man.
He's gonna tell you for the weeks leading up.
I'm gonna beat him.
I'm gonna beat him, and everyone who supports Connor is gonna go.
I think Connor is gonna get him.
But in the end, we all know that a boxer Pac Man's calibers is not gonna lose someone of Connor's caliber.
Eso does have a better chance of beating many than he would have.
Floyd, look at me, Okay? It wasn't a better chance of getting obliterated.
Manny has been chaos before.
Okay, so let's just start there.
Connor could hit him.
I mean, Conner gets pretty hard, right? So But the flip side of that is, man, he's not gonna take his foot off the gas the way Floyd did.
So he has probably a better chance.
Didn't even use into the fifth round.
Yeah, it's still little, very small chance of winning.
But he has a better one against Manning than he would have against Floyd.
However, the flip side to that is he would probably take a worse ass kicking from Manny anyway, for if the referee is not there, you have.
The referee is not there to save him.
I mean, there could be a a 23 punch, maybe five punch combo.
Um, but he would make a lot of money.
Hey, said he quadrupled his net worth just off that one fight.
So it probably a lot of money.
Great promotion for his whiskey and his McGregor suit brand.
And like I say, he's not expected to win folks, if he does.
One and one In boxing, I beat Manny Pacquiao, but if he doesn't hey, what do you want to face? Two of the top 10 greatest boxers ever made.
A made a lot of money.
I mean, and at this point, look, um, he's already lost it in the main a few times he came over to MME.
I think, with two losses, if I'm not mistaken, I know one was Joseph Duffy, and I think there was another.
So it's not like he came over perfectly undefeated.
He had lost earlier in his career, but it had been a while, and in the UFC he hadn't lost up until he lost Thio Nate Diaz.
Then he avenged it.
Oh, then he became a champ Champ.
Um, so that was really, really his peak there and then the last two.
Habib has reshuffled Emma's, the top five lightweight, but with him not fighting to frequently, he tends to slip while the other ones, like toys of the world in Ferguson's of just climbed past him, you know, But regardless, if it happens, I'm gonna tell you right now I am paying for it, Sure, but if it comes on my screen because you paid or a buddy paid or were working somehow, then of course I'll watch it and I'll probably enjoy the spectacle.
I love the spectacle of it, the boxing match itself.
The only reason I would be on the edge of my seat is because I made some sort of a bad.
Will it end in six rounds or whatever? I probably wouldn't lay what's necessary to win 100 bucks on Manny.
I think the the odds I saw her minus 6.
Yeah, on many to win 100 I confined in m m a fight risk less and still win 100.
Feel pretty good about, um, if you put the proverbial gun to my head and say your dad, if you don't think the winner, then I don't many easy.
I wouldn't sweat that.
Now what? I put the 100 to win 4 50 on McGregor.
Is that just throwing away 100? I don't know, man.
Um, I think I like I said, I think I just just watch and enjoy the spectacle and see what happens.
But at this point, I'm not as opposed as I was back then.
I think it's good eyeballs for MM, a good eyeballs for boxing, and he's not holding up some sort of a belt.
Habib's the champ.
He's got gauging next month, and then after that you got the guys that air training like Poi Ferguson, Charles Oliveira, few others are up and coming as well.
I'd love a fellow to get back in there.
Michael Chandler was just lined.
Eso the division really doesn't need McGregor Couldn't use it.
Of course, man, there's nothing like having economy Gregor fighting.
Nothing like it, but And I want him to fight.
Uh, maybe that's why by training boxing, I just know he's not fighting in May.
And that sucks because I don't believe he's retired.
At what point does does this start to damage the reputation of mixed martial arts? Listen, you're hard core.
You're fighting thing.
You should know that if these guys met on the street, that fight would not go the way it did.
Manny and her side, Floyd and Connor okay, most of times with the mixed martial artist and a boxer, it's not going to go the boxers way.
Not all the time, but most the time.
However, Joe blow out there, who is the majority Doesn't always see things that way.
So at what point, if you have two different boxers beating the crap out of an Emam a guy does that start to kind of tarnish Mm a a little bit in the eyes of people.
I think at some point you got to kind of draw the line a little bit.
Maybe say hey, what do you catch us to come this way first before we go back that way or something? You know, they're trying with Claressa Shields.
She's even offered to come and fight Nunes, right? Um and she said I'm willing to do the mm apart first.
Um, but the money is just better in boxing, so the boxers don't really want to come over.
And the boxers have to train a lot of stuff that they've never trained before versus the M M.
A guy probably gets quite a few rounds of boxing during the week, just not at the level of the true masters of the The Art of the sweet science.
So, yeah, even the guys just want to go get the payday over there.
Does it damage it? Look, it does in the eye.
And you called him a casual.
I would just say a buffoon because I think even a smart, casual, smart I'm thinking about the guy that's there.
And he's got $50 parleys $100 parleys in the sports book.
He's watching a little bit of hockey and hoops.
If he's got half of a brain, I think he would know that if they come here, they get their ass kicked.
If we go there, we get our ass kicked.
If we meet in the street, they get their ass kicked.
We'll take the two out of three.
I think he'll get it.
It's that guy at home picking his nose.
Um, that that just doesn't really know much.
I could care less.
What do you think? You know what bothered me the most about Mayweather and McGregor was we do our show from the sports book at the Mandalay Bay.
So we're hearing thousands of opinions okay on sports and the one that I kept hearing from the casual fan because they love to bring this up.
Waas you got the best boxer versus the best.
And that really bothered me because I love Connor McGregor.
I think he's a good mixed martial artist, a great mixed martial artist.
But he isn't the best we have to offer, that's for sure.
He's not Even when you when you think about his division at the time he wasn't even the best striker, the best wrestler, the best ju jitsu guy.
He's just a solid MM, a guy.
But people looked the way they build that fight.
They made it sound like he was the best that we may have to offer.
And that And that's just not true.
Yeah, he was only the most popular guy.
He was one of the best lightweights.
He wasn't the best at the time, and but he was definitely the most popular.
I guess that's just part of the promotion, and that's where we have to take the L for sure.
Um, but what you gonna do and look nothing certain.
It's just being talked about.
And like I say, I think it has legs.
I think it has possibilities, because when there's money to be made, Dana White doesn't shy away from it.
Connor McGregor doesn't shy away from it and then having the same management firm, I just think it could be a lot easier.
You don't have to deal with too many egos.
I'll have to check and report back on next week's show.
The whole top rank and Manny Pacquiao for some reason.
I thought he eventually left him.
But man, he hasn't been is relevant like in the last few years.
And then, you know who used to keep me really dialed in was the boys on at the Heights just haven't been able to catch him as much as they used Thio used.
Thio needs Thio do their show right before our So we put on the headphones and catch up on a lot of the the business dealings of boxing.
All right, let's change the subject to Kobe Covington and Jorge Mas.
Well, first of all, Kobe Covington.
That was him, folks.
He was act the presidential debate last last night.
What they say, like 90 people were invited or 16 something like that.
So they each had guests and there's their families and Kobe coming to meet that cut.
And here's a trip thistle trip for me because Kobe took the belt to the White House.
That was his gig, Marga and he rocked it.
He made it to the White House.
He brought the belt to President Trump.
He got his picture.
He's maintained that relationship.
Um, he did take one loss.
That kind of derails your training a little bit, but but it was a great fight.
He's already shaken that off and gotten himself a win.
But along the way, a few other fighters not just fighters but welterweights have been cozying up.
You know, to President Trump, Jorge Mas, It'll and Camara husband have both met that met him. Bennett.
The rallies done.
The whole picture thing got in the shout out, and I wondered if Kobe felt like, Hey, wait a minute, because this was kind of my thing, you know? Well, he one upped him.
He was that at the presidential debate.
That's like I say, man, regardless of who I'm voting for, I still think that that z something else.
It's just, I guess, looks funny about the whole thing is it's always been Kobe's thing.
Um, maybe a little bit of Tito Ortiz, right? You get a little bit, but what makes it funny is like, literally, if you were pick his biggest enemies in the smooth guys on the manager, Ali Abdel Aziz has been in place.
Martin has only met him once, whose ones only met him once he's been with with, Well, he was with G and Cejudo when he wrote on the first time here in Henderson, which is a city that's right adjoining to Las Vegas.
And then he met him in Atlanta with Guzman twice to shout out to, you know, to opportunities to meet him and and apparently the well.
I saw an article on our website that says him and him and Covington of made peace or something, so whatever.
Now here's the thing I want to ask you goes It looks like Covington's gonna fight Mas Vidal.
They were both at the tremendous gym out there in Florida called American Top Team.
They were both big figures in that dim, and I believe they both maintain relationships.
They're Mas Vidal is a member of the gym.
He's been there longer.
Then Colby, Covington, Kobe coming.
It's no longer there, I should say.
I think they both maintain friendships and but probably more on the side of Mas with because Covington part of the stick was ****ing off a lot of people, including a lot of Brazilians, not all of them, because Conan Silveira is his head coach or one of us could.
All he was, I should say, because he's no longer an American talking their mind.
But still he had any.
Jim, Hey had Valverde and his gym and he's presented Exactly so you know, Like I said, he has relationships there.
Hey, hasn't moved from the 305 They both still lived down there.
And now I'm wondering, will there be some sort of a tie in to No, I'm President Trump's favorite fighter.
If there was, I think last night solved it.
Yeah, yeah, I mean, probably.
But, um, who knows? I mean African, African Muslim, although to go on that little tour that was pretty.
But yeah, terrific deal.
He's going on a bus tour with Donald Trump Jr.
Because Trump's air heavily campaigning Florida and models and raised in Florida.
And he's Cuban American, and they're definitely going after the Latino vote so he will be causing up to those Are the two trumps Eric and Donald Jr.
That went to Kobe's fight.
I believe against Robbie Lawler.
So they were there to support Cold.
They are the ones that stays with the Trump Tower here in Las Vegas.
Um, and so now this guy's hopping on the bus with Trump Jr like I'm just wondering, man thes guys, they're human beings.
And I'm just wondering if Kobe's long He's hopping on that guys.
But I think I was my God, You think they're even thinking? Yeah, kind of the human nature. Yeah.
So I don't know, man.
Um, I just might just has toe happen.
I just retweeted, uh, a segment of our spinning back click.
It's a video franchise.
We do on them a junkie where we talk about the biggest topics.
Do we do it in a rapid fire form? So here we can unpack the topic a little bit more over there, we get, like, a minute each 40 seconds each.
So we talked about a little bit, and I retweeted and I just said it as best as I could thes air to great welterweights, their at their peak in popularity.
And because we're physical form, there's there's heat between the two.
Here's another thing, guys they used to live together.
They actually refer to each other as best friends as early as the beginning.
The first quarter of 2019 a year and a half ago, they referred to each other's best friends, and now they're like basically mortal enemies so much that one of them left the gym.
So do I want to see Macedo versus Diaz? I suppose if nothing's going on, sure I don't put the belt back on the B M f L.
I mean, I don't think we need to write.
It was just solved.
One right in front of that was beating the other guy.
And he was do it again.
Yeah, it was, regardless what the fight was stopped.
One guy was beating up the other guy and I needed.
I saw what I needed to see if that belt was a one time thing, and now it's in a trophy case somewhere.
Then it stays there.
But Dana White said, Hey, we might actually bring this thing back.
Connor McGregor said, I'd like to dabble with it.
A few of the other guys that are referred to as B M F Ear's you know that they street guys, they want a shot at it or whatever.
Okay, if you want to do that, cool.
But give it to someone else, you know? And then maybe Diaz can challenge that guy.
I mean like, I don't know.
McDonnell's next fight has toe have that title on the line.
Well, Model said after he lost to Guzman, he kind of chill for a bit.
And then he says, I'm gonna rebuild myself and I'm gonna go after the title And I loved hearing that.
So I think to do that it requires him to win one fight and then possibly using that spot because he's Burns has the next shop.
He's fighting Guzman.
I don't think Mom would all can sit on the sidelines and fight who's mon if he wins, because he just fought him.
And Colby just made a great case.
Why it should be him.
It burns Btu's mon, and it's a classic Who's one might get the immediate rematch if it's not a classic and that they just settle it, then who's one now has to get one win under his belt, and now he's a player again.
Because remember Jeff Neal, Leon Edwards, those guys, they're gonna have a saying it.
How about how smart she man, he's you know he's getting super popular as well, so I think the best thing is for those to fight for a clear number one contender models.
Will Kobe write the check to? You know, that's gonna be a tremendous fight.
I think it's gonna be great.
It's one of those that has to happen most one of his career.
When you think about it's been the in the last four years has been so brilliant because he has these fights that whether he wins or loses, you have to tune into him.
You have to find out what's gonna happen with him and Kobe face off because there's heat there.
The three piece Minnesota.
No matter when it happens, it has toe happen because you have to have some sort of conclusion toe what happened with him and Leon Edwards right on.
And then with this one, you know, he finally got the title shot, even ideas with the B M F title, like there's just he has so many lives.
If this were a video game, he would have so many lives.
Um, it's a brilliant thing.
And then with Ben Aspirin, right, like that was that was insane.
I think about it.
Guys model does have something, and that's he doesn't really go out there and talk too much of this noise.
But yet he still involved in these heated fights because the other guys bring it to him.
And then he obviously has something to say about it or do something about it.
But he's got really, really some great storylines out there.
I mean, the Diaz one was respectful.
I'm sure he has a lot to say.
A few things that maybe get back to get back in there.
And that wouldn't buys you a second one, Which is the brother Nick Diaz, Nick and get his stuff together and could actually fight.
Who wouldn't want to see that in their story line there, you know, you beat my little brother and now it's time to face me.
He says he likes to fight, and he's in his mid thirties.
I bet you the only reason he's not doing it is because he has to go through this whole negotiation thing with the UFC to figure out what fights, right.
Um because it to me, it doesn't sound like Aures heart would be broken if you ever fought for the title again.
He just wants to get paid.
So get him in these rivalry finds.
Get him in this Covington fight.
Get him in the Leon Edwards fight on Ben.
Figure out something with either Diaz brother.
But once these other ones have been solved enough and if along the way, who's minor, Burns becomes available, go in there, do your thing. Jorge.
Um, hopefully it's a full campaign not coming in off a week's notice, although I'm not using that as an excuse because he said he was training and ready.
But, you know, Dana has got himself a little gold mine man.
There in the Latino community, with Jorge Mas at all, he just has to make an exception and pay him.
You know, it seems like there's a number there.
I'm just saying, man, make these fights happen.
All right, Um, all right, you gave more than you lose is what the bottom line is on.
All that can't even leave on below.
He's 16 and three.
He's won three or four in a row.
He's 17 of his past eight.
His last loss was I believe me on Edward, so he's got pretty high.
Stock is, well, Santiago poems, and Eva, who hasn't fought in about two years.
Some sort of a blood infection held him back there.
Stephen Thompson as well.
Um, I'm not sure I'm leaving any of the other contenders out with the welterweight division is exciting, man.
A sneaky as is concerned.
Well, he still has to do the whole six months.
You saw the deal, by the way.
I wanna answer this one question because as recently as yesterday, there was a Chandler story I was reading and somebody said He's gotta wait out the six months because of you saw the I want to clear this up.
When you sign with the UFC and you're fighting with the UFC for the first time, there is an exemption, and I don't know if it's 30 days or if you could just fight with you, Sada, right? Because that's what allows them to plug late signings, you know, to these fights that fall off and somebody is ready to go.
That's how they get their opportunity Now since Nick Diaz a spot for the UFC before, If he comes back, if GSP comes back, if Brock comes back, all those that have fought in the past and then back with UFC because they've been out of the pool.
They have to go through six months, but not a fighter that's just recently signed for the You see.
Therefore, Chandler could fight on October 24.
All right, so we covered home and all.
Donna, by the way, let's let's just way said how historic that would be of two women headlining, uh in the U A United Arab Emirates.
Who do you like him on fight? Obama? All right.
Um, I e think I have somewhat of a little bit of a previous where Spector staff picks, and I was surprised I was a lot of old.
Um, I thought she's very aggressive.
She's got some hands, uh, seek a Max Max Max Match Holmes boxing skills.
I don't know about the pedigree because Holmes was a a boxing champ.
I don't believe Saldana did, but all Donna and her good friend and teammate, um, Alexa grass will come from a boxing gym.
And don't forget Holly Holm.
So it's pretty competitive on the feet faras the ground.
Well, is it really gonna Is either woman gonna want hit the ground? I don't know what I can tell you.
It seems like all Donna just seems to be fighting at a higher level right now.
He's got some momentum that's gonna come down.
I'm siding with her a little bit, but home keeps herself in good shape.
She's got experience.
I don't think she could be overlooked.
And if you know, yeah, So I don't know, man.
This is gonna be a close one.
What is most people pick called on our home? I think I saw more all Donna, What a Dan Tom pick.
He doesn't do it till the very end, so you rarely see his okay.
All right, well, I keep on eye on him and Nolan, those guys at the top of the M M.
A junkie leaderboard.
I think I'm fine.
You fell off a little bit. You were starting Thio.
I'm 10 off the champ.
I'm 10 wins behind the champ, but I wanna make a I'm gonna make an excuse right now, okay? No, I don't wanna make an excuse.
I'm just turn off the champ.
No, I make an excuse, e home.
Or sometimes it's my It's my little tiebreaker.
And I think, um, I could honestly say that over the year, 5 to 10 homers cost me every single year.
I think we all dio.
So could I be up there with them? I don't know when you're booking interviews there certain go to guys that just answer your calls.
And I've seen it even with some of the other guys on staff.
Like there's times where there's just certain guys that almost don't want to belong to that reporter.
But you just know they're going to get him.
And when staff picks come out, you know, usually their names were there.
But I would say because we have done this longer than most everyone, we probably have mawr of these Homer picks and we end up seeing these guys in person a little bit more, too.
So, uh, we tend to have more homers, and I've had to pick against them because eventually we know so many of us.
Covington is gonna be brutal, that you just have to do it.
Yeah, you just have to do it.
So a lot of times I'm just like so there's times where I look at it and just go Just give me all the dogs.
Just give me all the favorites.
Yeah, so whatever.
Let's talk about him.
And I know we got below Mohammed coming up soon.
UFC Welterweight, What do you think is gonna happen with John Jones next? I I don't think we're going to see him at heavyweight.
I don't know why, but I You know what it is.
It kind of reminds me of Floyd is whoever Floyd's tied with, Believe me, whether that is, if you see their last performance tells you whether or not flakes and take that fight, right? So for John Jones, if Steep Yokich were to get obliterated by friends and a new then I think Jon Jones goes back Thio the light heavyweight.
You know, it's just too much weight, that sort of thing, which really is a little bit of the criticism that Jones getting now with Dominic Reds, right? Dominick Reyes.
This is all of a sudden he has some interest in, like Heavyweight, which he didn't a month ago.
Could he say what? John's the first matchup? I'm tired of rematches.
He could, man, but I mean, I don't know, a lot of people thought he lost the fight, You know, You think you wanna get that one back? Eso Honestly, I don't really believe he's going to take a heavyweight matchup.
I think he will go down.
Eso you keep the belt? I mean, you know what? It was just poor judgment.
Was there more money waiting for him there? And if so, does he have to go back to Leicester Money versus John Vlahovic? Or is it just fun on fight night that have people in your praises? E think a little bit off.
What? John Jones likes his attention.
And I mean, we saw that we see it all the time.
And he's not the only one, you know.
Like Connor McGregor did it as well, I think when Cormier at his last fight.
Didn't Connor What? Something out there to.
So you think he likes to be there? I think he likes to have his name out there, so he likes to throw those types of things.
I was very surprised to see Dana White say, Hey, man, if he wants it, Yeah, come on back.
Because to me that that just oh, man, that makes your business division and makes it look like a circus.
You know, just a show.
So, I mean, if I if I were doing away, I think I would have said like, Hey, man, you made John Jones.
3 million followers on Instagram? I thought Israel might have passed him.
What do you think Israel is close to? Passing them in terms off like supers****om? Yeah, close to right.
But yeah, maybe a couple more.
They can. They can. Both.
Both being undefeated.
I don't care what people say.
John Jones is undefeated.
Israel's up to 3.
6 million followers.
One guy's currently the champ, and he's obliterating his competition.
Whereas Jones barely got past the last two, it was dominant.
And Santos before that, right? Is there another one squeezed in between? All right.
That was even before.
But the last two were close.
Israel smoking his guys.
Israel is not in any trouble.
He's got the fancy cars.
I don't know means younger.
That's a big deal, right? The older you get, the less cool you are Poor, corny, poor coroner has been called fat twice.
Right in the last two times Fat fool Fooled by a Connor.
And then I think that guy on the couch by by Young So he's younger.
Um, he's the style Bender.
You know, our sport is a lot of the what have you done for me lately? And right now, Israel is the man, so yeah, I think Jones's the a side if they fight soon.
Oh, yeah, I think I e think so, man.
You know, I mean, like, the way people were, including myself, including you, I think Think about what we were saying about Israel Adesanya this past weekend.
I mean, he fought almost perfectly, if not perfectly.
It was brilliant, really.
The only thing that has been negative was should he have home from at the end? But for all intents and purposes, I mean, that was tremendous.
Then Dana White saying that they broke some records, not pay per view buys.
I don't believe but stuff some stuff having to do with the social media and attention.
And you know one thing a lot of the fighters have been able to do a lot of this these last six months is raised their stock amongst casual fans.
Hardcore fans as well.
We're always in, but I'm talking about those celebrities and athletes and their tweets.
And you could tell a lot of people are watching.
Um so man Mhm Jones.
His last fight wasn't part of the pandemic era.
That was the win over dominant in February.
Is he beat Yeol in March? So this was of the two.
This was the first guy to fight during this period, and I'm telling you, a big big jump for is he Look at the big, big jumper like, you know, Bobby Greens getting a lot of respect.
I think three wins in six weeks or 22 months.
He's fighting again.
Do you see that? And then who are some of the other guys that to be stock? One is his last fight.
Pie could have been during the pandemic because there was about as equal amount of interest from the fans during the fight.
Right? Me? Yo, chick, she's he got.
I mean, him beating d C.
The way he did. His stock definitely went out.
I don't know Well, right now, I think Jones's the A side.
He's just been in the company a lot longer.
He's got more title offenses, more records.
But I want to see Jones in Israel at that stadium.
You know, things were starting to loosen up a little bit.
And but I think in about another year looking how much changed in the last year for us? We were just talking about, you know, earlier, earlier.
It could be, that is, he could be the A side by them.
I mean, Jones doesn't walk.
Jones doesn't walked to the ring with the belt.
Well, here's the other thing, too.
Well, neither this is because they find it.
At least like I think, Dana really likes Israel.
Adesanya e don't know that He really likes John Jones on, and that can be a big deal in these types of things.
I think there's times where maybe a guy like Daniel Cormier has said something that the UFC said.
You believe this guy, but at some point they go man, but he's just been great, you know.
He's been a model citizen here in the u F.
C. He's a company guy.
Just give it to him, you know, way you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.
That sort of thing I don't know that there's that same feeling with John Jones for the longest time, wasn't it, Lorenzo for Tina That dealt with John like Dana didn't even talk to him.
Right, So they just don't have a good relationship.
So who do you think John's fighting next, though? Did you give me that answer, Young? Yeah. Okay.
So, Santos and to share a It doesn't matter what happened.
Do you think the book bones versus young? Yeah.
Your drums out of their out of that whole equation.
It's kind of interesting because All right, look, you got you got Santos. You got Glover.
Glover is in the exact same boat that John was in, you know, lost a couple turn things around.
He's an older fighter.
He could be fighting for the title, so you can't discredit him.
It's a tough cat.
Could you did Anthony Smith.
Santos beat Young.
So there's a storyline there.
So either way, it's kind of like a fun fight that you could you could promote.
And then you have you know, that next level of guys were where you have your your Johnnie Walker's in the world package those guys, but on top of all that you have, Anthony Johnson and Anthony Johnson makes things very, very interesting.
Somebody gave the date the other day.
It's like February.
They come off. The six months ago rose.
Six months of you started testing somewhere in February.
Rumble! Johnson's ready to go.
So great division, man, it goes back.
It's really, really great.
It's no secret what Anthony does write for a living or on the side, does it? Johnson.
You put that? Yeah, but I thought I asked him, and I'm not so sure that he's He was.
He was an investor in the cannabis.
E said that publicly.
I can't remember if he still is dabbling in that you saw that.
I have to knock on the door of one of those places to get a drug test.
Yeah, it is hilarious.
Well, that one remember, that one's a little bit more lax under USADA.
That's why ideas brothers fight for crying out loud.
Don't put it past them.
The Diaz brothers, they they wouldn't have survived any form of random testing.
They had the wean off their pot usage like three weeks to a month before the fights and they would always they would always barely make it.
Man, you're asking a lot out of Nick Diaz.
If you truly believe Nick Diaz is going to come back and fight, think of what you're asking.
Aside from just having the past drug test, they have an app where they have to constantly.
I'm more worried about that one.
Where they're gonna be.
You only get a few strikes on.
But that was the thing that random tests won't be for pot.
The pot will only be just getting on the night of the fight.
That one, you know, people that know him that are friends with him can't get ahold of him.
Sometimes he needs you know what he needs.
Remember the Million Dollar Man used to have Virgil.
He needs, like, a virtual, except he's not a million dollar man right now, but he needs someone that's always by him.
That that pretty much carries this phone, I guess.
Did you see the movie phone booth with Colin Farrell? Remember, he had some little guy that was always with him.
It was like his assistant.
They were both in suits and they were like, they're gonna throw some big party and and we need to get you a suit.
Then give him some money and told the young guy to go get a suit.
I gotta go back and watch.
Yeah, well, he needs someone like that. Some sort of a guy.
A sidekick that's always with him.
I can update this phone.
Um, but I'm confident we'll see Nick again because I think there's at least a $250,000.
Just show payment waiting for that guy.
And if he wins and talk some smack, then he can get himself probably 500 maybe some paper views.
I think Dana loves the Diaz brothers.
He probably doesn't love the the cat and mouse game dealing with, um, the flakiness.
But I think something about those guys.
That's Dana White's type of guy.
Someone that he knows.
When the fight starts, they're gonna go out there, and they're gonna be talking some smack.
Plus, there o g s in the game, man.
Um and so I think he's got a soft spot for him.
And if he can help him make some money, he will.
Um I'm gonna tease the topic.
because you kind of brought it up.
And I don't wanna have this discussion here because I wanna have more people involved when we do this, so I don't know if it's gonna be I'm gonna pitch it as spending back click Or or even our triple G show that we do with Richard.
Because, Richard, I think we have a good opinion on this.
But you talk about Nick Diaz and what he's coming back for.
What is it worth to him? Where? 61 But we're saying maybe somewhere in the $200,000 range at least, right? I'm thinking, like, um because I'm pretty. I watched these.
The salaries haven't been released in about six months.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission says they're no longer public, But I've I've usually seen every single time the different states that divulge.
Um, well, the Knicks start strikes me as 252 show. That's it.
So when 500? Okay, this is how ridiculous this is for the fighters in our sport.
Okay? The league minimum in the MBA is $893,310.
That's the minimum.
Okay, that's for a dude that may not even see the court all year.
His ass could be on the bench.
That's what he makes.
That's his minimum.
Nick Diaz is hoping to come back, put his ass through a training camp, get beat up, beat up another guy, which he's already said he doesn't like doing for just a piece of that.
How crazy is that? Remember, the guy practices every day to go E.
No, he's not getting beat up, but I'm saying he's reporting E.
I don't think they get beat up every practice.
Is the bully already here? Fully Great.
Oh, man, We get the bully early.
All right? Cool.
I thought for sure he was an iguana is right at noon. Central.
But did you cut the practice off a little earlier than usual? Bully? Yeah.
I felt like this was more important than the practice and bettering my skills.
Cut it earlier. Good.
I'm gonna confess something here.
On what? He doesn't really have a fight set yet, unless great one.
Right? I looked on topology.
I looked on everything and there's nothing set yet.
Now he may be getting.
He may be in the process or whatever.
So yesterday I used a little bit of gamesmanship, you know? And I told him, Like, Look, man, because his practice ends.
Really like half hour. From now on, I go.
Just cut that practice off 15 minutes.
Whoever you fight next, you're gonna kick their ass regardless of these.
But in reality, I had to leave it at that.
What I really wanted to say was, Who? You don't even have a fight.
Come on, now, you can cut this practice e even respectful.
So I just left that I use that gamesmanship.
Do you have a fight? No, nothing yet.
Hoping they hear consumed.
Like we keep hearing little whispers, but nothing set in stone yet.
Yeah, because your division is popping, bro.
Leon says no one will fight him.
I know you'd like to freedom again.
Blood infections done.
You know, he's been up there for a while.
Thompson saying Hey, I'll fight somebody.
He wants to get in the sweepstakes.
I don't know, man.
And you're 16 and three.
You've won four in a row.
You've won eight of your last nine.
You deserve a big name, you know? So I want to see more, more bully more often.
And here's another thing, Mohammed, I'm not here to kiss your ass.
All right, Well, I'll see you belong Mohammed.
I'm not here to kiss your eyes, but I think you have something that the UFC didn't identify with Jorge back in the day, I kept telling the UFC this guy's got street swag.
He did the Kimbo fights.
He speaks Spanish, The fans will love him.
You gotta feature, um, or you have a little bit of that as well.
But yours comes from social media, you know, And you're a character.
Everyone loves you.
Even if you pick against them.
Everyone seems to love you.
People are always talking you up now, you podcast.
I think they should start featuring you more often in these big fights.
They got a little gym there in below Mohammed.
Yeah, I honestly, that was That's a good point.
Like I get that a lot where people would say that Kind of like Jorge, where they waited too late before knowing that, you know, like, or he was one of the guys that even when I'm coming up that, uh, I always wanted to watch a fight and then just always You ever watched the old shows with him and Kobe like that stuff right there.
Like it showed that like this guy had personality and like you said, Like, I feel like the UFC doesn't see that yet, but a lot of other people do, and that's why it was pretty cool.
That dynamic is one of, like, messing me, and he's like, Hey, you need to show you need your own show And he was like, Hey, I'm put you under the antique Emporium podcast.
We'll do the show and he like, he'll set it up and it's all around you like I feel like you need your own thing.
And it was pretty cool that, you know, somebody like as high as him or like he understands, like the entertainment value and stuff like that.
And he sees me, and he's like, You're entertaining guy like I think they need a promote you a little bit more so we'll start off with you, promote yourself more on this show, and then hopefully they'll see it and then we'll get the right eyes on you and then that will make them enter and do the same thing about you with, like, the UFC and building you up in better ways.
Like you said, like right now, it's all about entertainment with the UFC.
You need those guys that are gonna wanna talk, the guys that are good at talking, guys that aren't afraid, toe talk.
I'll sit there and talk trash to anybody like, but I'm not gonna sit there and do it in a way where it's fake, like, you know, when you like, see Kobe and it's like, fake.
And then you see, like Leon Edwards, we're now he's at least trying to do it now.
But like you could tell, he's not comfortable doing it.
With my style, like talking and things.
I feel like it'll be entertaining.
It'll be more funny.
And, uh, fans, well, um, see it as being really now.
But like when you got guys like pushing hard for things and doing like fake personalities like people read that type of thing.
They understand they know what's fake and they know it's not fake, and that's why they don't They don't like gravitate to those guys.
As of right now your healthy 100%.
Yeah. Yeah, Right now I'm healthy.
And who now that the landscape keeps changing.
Is there a name you'd like to fight? That are? Do you have a t least three names that you would really, really love to get in there with? That makes sense.
Um, honestly, I'm still looking at the parts interview.
I think part scenario makes sense.
And with him coming off a long layoff, he was still, like within the top five, even though he's not right now.
So they took him off the rankings because of that.
But to me that if I make sense like you said, I'm I'm on a good streak right now and I beat some tough guys.
So I feel like I deserve a bigger name.
Um, if nobody's trying to fight Leon Edwards, I'm right there.
And I feel like that would be a good fight for me and for him, like since he thinks he's like number two and he doesn't want to fight, Tom said, Who's like a harder style? My style is not that hard toe train for so I feel like that would be a great fight for him and he hasn't fought like in a year and a half.
So it makes more sense honestly for him to get another fighting before fighting for the title.
And to me I mean, I make my four cents beating me going the first time I shot to being our d A.
Who's literally lost like four of his last five.
He's not really a £70 so I honestly, I don't think I never really beat anybody that deserve that.
Makes them deserving of the title shot.
He's not a big streak, but he still has to be like that.
That one guy where you're like, all right after that, when he deserves it.
When you see Gilbert Burns, he beat Woodley, dominated him.
He knocked out Maya.
He deserves it like Maya needs that.
I mean, Leon needs that.
And then also Maya, I like my, uh he's a legend in the sport, and, uh, you know, I want to fight a grappler like I feel like a lot of the guys that give me our strikers, and I want to test myself again. Scrapped.
But I'm very good at grappling and I think it's underrated a lot of the time, but I really like fighting.
Graft was, like, literally the last grandfathers fought was for the tight end title into Steve, Carl, and he couldn't take me down one.
So, like, um, for me, I like fighting grapplers.
I like train with some of the best grapplers out here.
So, like, I want to test myself and gets a good grappler, allow things gotten better in the sense of when somebody first gets into the UFC.
You know, a lot of the matchups you get are this is what we think is best for you.
And then as you progress through your career, it starts becoming a little bit.
This is what I would like.
I would like to face this type of.
This is where I would like to do it.
Have things gotten better for you in regards to talking to the matchmaker and and future opponents that sort of stuff e mean, not really like I'm sitting there.
I feel like I should have had ranked opponent for a while now.
And, you know, I've always called out right guys, and I've always texted shot Shelby wonders a short noticed against a ranked guy.
Let me know like, Yo, I'll step in whenever there is.
Ah, short notice fights.
So, like I'm thinking that's gonna get in his head like, Yo, alright, this game, guys not afraid to fight the right guy.
So no, honestly, like I feel like the sometimes the matchmaking doesn't really make sense.
Um, I feel like I should be ranked.
I feel like I'm good enough to be ranked that I'm good enough to beat literally half of the brain guys that are out there right now.
I mean, you got Nadya's ranked literally.
I mean, okay, he has star power.
But the guy shouldn't be right that there's like, probably, I think 12 of the 15 range guys could beat him pretty easy.
I feel like, but I don't wanna get into rankings that that stuff really doesn't make sense, but I feel like I deserve that, like a fight in the rankings, like it doesn't have to be on ideas.
I know those guys are going to sit there and fight big money fights, but there's pitching guys in the rankings and I deserve one of them.
If you had to put a percentage on it.
How much does what you do outside of the cage? Have to do with how well you're promoted.
And you know who's next for you.
Soas faras engage versus out of the cage.
What percentage do you think it is? I'm gonna go with at least like yeah, probably like 70% outside of the cage.
Um, what you do will get you your bigger fights.
Get your bigger names.
Uh, I mean, Mike Perry's coming out beating Robbie.
I mean, uh, ****ey Gall who sucks, And he's getting Robbie Lawler, whose rank so But he has a big fall, and I understand that I don't understand the business aspect of it. You got $500,000.
So obviously you wanna get that guy in a big fight.
And I mean, I'm excited for that fight as well.
But like, um, when you look at guys like John Edwards that in a knife fight winning streak and they're not getting that push and you're looking and you're like, Oh, well, this guy doesn't really promote himself on social media.
The fans don't know who he is, like, even really was saying when he was gonna fight him like nobody knows who this guy is, but like the fighters actually do, like the people that are really into the sport, know who he is, how good he is.
But nowadays, the mainstream media and fans they only care about like, Who's that guy that's talking.
Who's that guy that's coasting? Funny videos? Who's that guy they want to grab? They gravitate towards those people.
I mean, that's like that age we're in right now.
So it's like if you're not promoting yourself on social media, if you're not being, uh, social with the fans communicating with them, nobody really going to care about you and you could be a great and you are in the cage.
But if you're like a weirdo kind of like Tony Ferguson, where night fights but guys kind of weird.
So that's why I feel like took him that long to get his title foot.
Do you do your own videos, or do you have a good tech guy? Is it you know that that does it for you are How does this work Video? Yeah, like for the show, or just like the videos I post on social media, social media, Just every everything that you do with social media is that Is that all you? Yeah, yeah, that's all.
I sit there and I think about stuff and then I don't think it's funny.
And then I was just, like, post its like usually I'm really good with humor, So usually when I when I think of something, that and I think it's funny that I'll sit there and post it, then I'll send it to my brother or something.
And I was like, Yo, you think it's funny? And then he'll give me, like, the thumbs up or thumbs down.
Most of the time, he doesn't have the same type of humor as me, so he'll think it's lame.
But you know what? You don't know what's funny, so I'll just post it anyway.
And then it'll get a lot of views.
Like like I said, the biggest thing with me with social media when I first started doing it, you know, I was thinking you needed to be, like, professional with it and, um like, all right, I'm only gonna pose motivational quotes, be motivational post workout, and then I'll post that stuff and I'll get, like, 500 views. Nobody really cares.
Then you post a funny video or like I'm making fun of somebody and they literally get like, 10,000 views and people are laughing it.
And it's getting articles ESPN ever made sharing it.
And I'm like, Oh, I guess it was funny, but yeah, most of the time.
But like, it's one of those where, like, I think a funny stuff, even when I'm training or stuff like that.
And I sit there, has to go to my phone and write in my phone and be like, Go back to it later in thing And like, just overthinking and then just come up with creative dominance.
Had one of their, um, media days where they get all their athletes and the good one at in Vegas.
Here it was at the park.
MGM Hubby was there who, though, uh, you know, a lot of the Bumble.
A lot of the big names were there.
In my opinion, though, I was watching the crowd.
You know, all the other journalists and videographers.
I thought Malala stole the show.
We were asking them about the fight picks and Like I said, man, you could just tell that energy like you felt like you were being entertained while being told about what he wanted to do in his career.
I've been watching them since then.
You know what I mean? The bully picks the super popular, By the way.
I don't think you have a bigger fan than Tatiana Suarez.
She's like, like whatever is picked, you could tell she is excited about it.
Um, I remember asking you that day a, um people get ****ed off.
And I think you said something about you gotten a few dems.
Can you update me since then? Like you're still doing it.
Are you ruffling feathers still? And can you share who are people like just taking it in stride? No.
This felt always gonna be ruffling feathers like people sit there and, um, don't unfollowed me after I don't pick them.
And then once you get to that, the hard part is when you get the bands nowadays where it's like when I picked my teammate Darrell Marsh are against, comes out literally.
I probably had, like, 500 GMs of fans, Russian fans, you know, Muslims, they're like Oh, you're a traitor, brother.
How are you not gonna pick the Muslim? What's wrong with you? Were on Muslim brothers.
What's wrong with you then? I literally one of the guys I met.
I commented because I commented that, general, things like, let's go.
And it was like the poster of him and comes out and then one of the Russians like you're a trader.
What's wrong with you? How you're not gonna pick the Muslim.
And then I said, no, I Gerald Muslim.
What are you talking about? And then I texted I said, Gerald, I'm like, yo put Salaam alaikum on the comments on has been that and then we literally have a couple of guys, actually.
Hey, is he really Muslim? I was like, Yeah, why? Why you guys jumping the gun? See, you guys sit there sitting there getting mad for no reason.
It was like the funniest thing in the world.
And then that he was able to do that It was like like he didn't care.
But it was hilarious.
Just, like, hilarious, where people get so mad.
And it's funny when you say Tatiana, she messed me.
And you're like, Hey, what do your picks for this week.
So she always doing something for, like, I think Bodog or something like that, where they picked up, make their picks for the fight.
And then we were just talking about certain people.
Were just like, Oh, I gotta pick this person because it's a friend.
But I think this person is gonna lose.
But I don't want this person to get mad at me.
And I was like, Nah, you just gotta You gotta go with it.
You can't pick with your heart.
You gotta pick with your head because the fans are gonna know that if you get picked wrong, they're not gonna let you have it.
They're like they're gonna keep coming at you.
But if you get a good amount of pics, then maybe that bodog get more money or whatever like that, and they will get you better things.
Nah, this person take stuff personal.
I don't want to go on. Follow me.
I'm just gonna start feeling whatever.
I was gonna go with it just because I don't want to get met.
And then she picked against the, uh Zubair and I was like, Man, I don't know about picking against the very like the Russians to take everything personal.
And she's like, No, but Hakim follows me.
So I'm gonna do it because he follows me.
I was like, all right.
And then literally, like one of the comments on anything I think she picked against the there was like a Russian fan was like, Are you serious? You depict against Russian, and I like Mr Like It was so funny.
How's that? You really lost your Russian crowd? Yeah, we actually talked about that because we do our mm.
A junkie staff picks.
And we, uh, c r former media has been different from a lot of the other journalists.
You know, there's obviously ethics and staying objective, and but we start off his Fanboys.
We did it all the wrong way, but we did it such a long time ago.
I think we got a little grandfather in.
You know, we have the studio at Mandalay Bay.
You've been there? Yeah, we get to meet them.
We've got on military trips with a lot of these guys, and then in Vegas, you're just constantly around, you know? So there's been a few times that I've caught myself.
Maybe home bring a little bit when I shouldn't have.
And so you'll never find me at the top of the junkie picks.
But there's a lot of times when I'm just man, I'm just putting the name down.
If I get dealt with, I get dealt with.
But that's part of the job, right? Yeah, exactly.
Especially when taking pics.
Because then you see you see, people really take it, you know, like you said, picking friends and I'll sit there and I'm thinking between to guys like Alright, let me see this guy following your, uh, if this guy actually comments on my things and I'm like, you know, I would pick this guy just cause I like him and, like, we don't even really have ah, any communication with each other.
But like if he's liking myself social media communication, I'm like, you know, I'm gonna pick this guy because he's cool and then, like, literally fans like, Oh, what the heck is wrong with you? Did you look at this guy's rocker and he's going to get this Russian who was a great wrestler, and this guy is gonna take him down and murder him.
And I'm like, I don't really take that stuff, Cooper, like, I don't I don't bet so.
Like, I don't like most of the time.
I'm sitting there and I'll look at fights and I picked who I actually think is gonna win.
But then when I pick a friend and I know they're in a tough fight or they're in a tough battle, I'm still pick them, even though, like, mentally, I'm thinking they're gonna lose.
Then I have, like, 10 other fans messing me personally like, Hey, do you think this guy is really gonna win? Because I don't wanna bet this guy if you're just picking because he's a friend.
But like you said, like when it comes down to friends and just like people, you know, it's hard to pick against them because, you know, they're actually gonna look at your stuff.
But I mean, it's just I'm just picking for fun and stuff like that. I don't really care.
I'm still gonna pick them just for, like, loyalty reasons.
But what is the most aggressive in terms of being ****ed off if you don't pick their guy? Uh, yeah, The Russians are probably the Russian fan base is the most aggressive.
I don't think a Russian fan e think it's more so just because of being a Muslim like if you pick them, they're thinking, Oh, you're thinking against You're not You're not picking against the Muslim.
What's wrong with you? I was like, uh and then, man, there was that one car where I was, uh I had the perfect card, literally a perfect line up.
And then when Weidman fought Rusty guy and it was like, remember what you're talking about more off or whatever.
Yeah, I had last week and it was Anthony Pettis clearly messing me that morning.
And Anthony's like, Yo, I'm gonna I'm about all your pics And I was like, All right, cool.
So I made all that picks.
And then with that bite, I was like, You know what? I'm gonna go with Russia because I don't want them toe attack me again on then, literally, I had every pick right.
I was like We're at 5060 Then Anthony's texted me like, Yo, we're at 60 or at 60 on your $100 and he could have won 25 grand, and they were at 70 And then at 80 the 19, Then there was the co main event at 10..
And then hey, facetime, He said, You know what? I tend to know.
Two more fights, two more fights.
I was like, Do you just drinks that and then widened one? I was like, Oh, my God.
And then we one that many bets There were 11 and one that card.
And I was like, No, But you still must have made some money, though, right? No, I was like, I was, like, one of those $100 parlay.
He had to get all of them right, And he would have 25.
You got a bet those individually, if you partly you do a little bit but your main place to be the straight play man.
11 one's a great night that I was crazy.
I was like, No way.
And I was like, Yeah, we're going to Vegas.
We're going to Vegas.
He said Yeah, for sure, for sure that I was like he lost.
And then he stopped texting e doesn't ask you blow.
You would have run the table about him. All right.
What do you think the odds were that, Anthony, But there's an envelope thrown your way.
What do you think would have happened? A good job, buddy.
Or do you think they would have been something going your way? I e things pretty cheap, and he's pretty cheap of his money, but I think it would have to be something I was expecting something.
Maybe I played, I guess that a flight to Vegas I like, Yeah, we're gonna make it after this.
Yeah, I don't know if you had maybe paper mall in flight, but, uh, I was hoping I was It was wishful thinking.
And then, as I did then I told everybody about that.
Like, Biggie and Jared.
Dude, as anyone ever give you nothing, I think you would not do this, Chief.
Wouldn't give you nothing.
I was like, really? Like they're like, Yeah, trust me. All right.
Well, I wanted to ask you something that I heard a long time ago.
I should have just look it up myself.
But you have a law degree.
Yeah, well, I was going to be a lawyer.
I was going to be a lawyer.
So I have a bachelor's in law, uh, from University of Illinois in Chicago and Urbana Champaign.
But then, yeah, I was gonna plan to go in.
The lawsuit was my plan.
And then literally what? I'm in college, Uh, because I used to go to Urbana Champaign.
So I'll drive back home and visit Chicago here and there.
And then I literally saw in the newspaper one time, and I saw Louis Taylor, who's my head coach now.
He was my high school wrestling coach, and I saw him fighting for strikeforce.
And, you know, I used to watch out for the fighter.
I never trained anything.
Just high school resting.
So then I messaged him on Facebook like, Oh, wait, I saw you in a newspaper.
We just haven't connected in a while.
So then we were, like, really connected through that, and he's like, Yeah, I stopped by the gym.
I could teach you some things, train with you.
I'm like, Okay, cool.
So, like every time I would come on the weekends from score, I would go and work out within train with them, but it just came naturally to me aan den from there on, Like, I took my first amateur fight.
And then I was like, You know what? Uh, I graduated with bachelor, so I was like, You know, I always go back to it.
Like I never thought out Make this, like, a career career.
But it's always one of those things that I still want to go back and get go to law school and graduate from there.
Yeah, man, that when I heard that, I was like, Oh, man, that's awesome, you know? But I didn't know, like, if you had reached, you know, if you had already finished and taking the bar or if you ever practiced or anything that those were the details I didn't know.
But I had heard that about, you know, you having a lot of degree.
Okay, that's awesome.
My mom and dad, always literally after every flight.
Okay. Are you done yet? Are you done yet? Go for the school.
Yeah, Don't worry. Next one next one.
Think about all the slogans.
You know I'll fight for your money here.
If he's personal injury, I've been there, you know, or whatever.
And plus, with his creativity, he doesn't even need me.
But I'm just saying, like my my my mind is going 100 miles an hour thinking all the stuff you could do, I think you probably have to be pretty successful.
Heck, just MME alone spreading the word.
I'm sure I'll ally Quintus.
Probably sold from homes in the m m.
I'm sure you could represent some fighters.
Oh, are just get let fighters get the word out for whatever type of law you wanna practice.
Oh, yeah, for sure.
You know, it's one of those things that we're now seeing, like how successful like Emma is and, you know, looking at being a manager and things like that I feel like it would be cool, because I have a lot of up coming guys that always ask me for advice and always ask for help.
And the biggest thing for me coming up was having like a guy like Lewis who's like, been through it all.
He's seen it all, and, like he, he was the guy who was always telling me, Be smarter with the way I'm training, picking fights like, you know, coming up.
I was literally, like, 203 and I was like, companies call me against, like, a 10 and 12 and old guy anyway.
Oh, we'll fight you for this.
I'm like I'm dying to say, Yeah, you talk to any fighter, they're always down and say, Yeah, there's not gonna be a fighter where they say they're gonna say no or overthinking.
You gotta have that guy that's watching your back and then understands the fight game and understands your style and like matchups.
The biggest thing I feel like changing with Ali.
But I think a lot of guys like him to trust them is because he believes in you.
And he he looks.
He looks at the bigger picture with things and when he, like, picks my fights, even when he will call me for a fight.
No, he's not my culture, anything like that.
But he understands the game.
He trains in the game, so he'll call me.
And he was like, Hey, what do you think about this matchup? You could do this. This and this to this guy.
I feel like you could play this type of game with him.
and just, you know, just that little thing.
You know, a lot of fighters.
They don't really need managers like managers, literally.
What do you do? They answer the phone, they try to solve your somebody calls them.
You want to fight this guy Fighters always gonna say, Yeah, I'm always gonna say Yeah, no matter what, but you gotta have that guy that's gonna be like, No, we want this matchup or we want this match.
It's a lot better, but I feel like a lot of younger guys nowadays.
They need that type of guidance.
And I feel like that.
I want to start getting into that type of thing.
And having a lot of degree will help you with that.
All right, let's finish up with this.
The show we remember the shows is what is what this one called.
It's It's in conjunction with an IQ and Florian and I believe it's you and Jason Annick, right? You guys are gonna be with the mainstays you bring guests on.
You guys were having fun there.
You guys were having a game show.
I've watched it.
Uh, tell me about it.
So the Annick John Annick approached you Or did he know that you wanted to do something like this? You know, how did this come about? What's next? You know, like when you get, uh, who are gonna be some future guess? Literally. Yeah.
Dynamic came at me like, you know, every time you go to a fighter meetings or anything like that, I'm like, Yo, hey, don't worry.
I'm still thinking about you. We gotta I gotta show, idea.
I gotta show Idea.
I gotta show idea.
And I'm like, Alright, cool, cool.
Like I'm just brushing it off.
Not really thinking about it.
Then he came at me with the email with the whole breakdown of what the show could be and being behind with his brother.
Very cool guy and literally sounds exactly like Jonah.
So it's It's funny.
Um, but yeah, you know, I wanted to bring something to the game.
Everybody nowadays got a podcast.
Everybody's doing the same thing to talk about the fight.
And, you know, it gets like, tedious for a lot of fans are not gonna look at or listen to the same shows, talking about the same things over and over again.
You could only talk about Israel winning for so long or hear different opinions on it for so long.
So, like with our show, we're gonna we do that? We talked about a little things, but then the game show aspects probably like the newest thing where I wanna add him.
Wanted, uh, the game.
So, like fun into the podcast part where it's kind of like a showcase where you have to watch it and it brings fighters into it.
And what I feel like most fighters love is competition.
So, like when I bring to fighters, go get each other you wanna win.
So, like they're gonna take it seriously.
Like I literally had C M punk on there last week with Brendan Island.
A shot of mus**** about this big.
The first show I had, Louis Taylor and Jerry Gordon.
Jared took a shower with his clothes on.
So it's like just literally funny stuff.
Funny challenges, things that gets fans to know a different personality.
See a different side of you where it's a lot of funny, where it's not the same old boring thing where you're getting the interview with the fighter and then they hear the same questions over and over again.
So they're basically monotone, and they're giving you the same answer because they already had the same interview five times.
So in my show, it's like a game show and different categories.
And then you miss the category.
You have to do a challenge.
The challenge, like something you could do in your house.
Just some funny stuff.
And then if you refuse to the challenge, you have to do Burpees.
So it's cool stuff.
And then literally, on the next show, I got Darren till Tatiana Suarez.
So get guys out here right now, they literally there until one of the biggest stars in the UFC.
And it's super cool because, you know, the guy, like, didn't ask for anything, didn't ask any questions or anything like that.
Yeah, okay, yeah, for sure.
Just remind me, uh, come on. I'm like, Alright, cool.
Like you said, it's kind of like a respect thing where you said like I had that type of personality were fighters, respect you, and don't answer your message when you get it.
Like I sent sent a message.
Chris Weidman, too.
And he said, Yeah, I'll be down to do it with Volonte or wonderful.
And it was cool.
I have that relationship with guys.
Yeah, man, that's awesome! I saw it, and right away I could tell there's energy there.
It's fresh, and I think a lot of people should check it out.
So remember the show.
You're going once a week, right? With Jason Annick? Yeah, Every Thursday night, 7:30 p.m.
And available on all the podcast Apple podcasts. Google podcast.
Is that what you guys are doing? Are we streamed Live on the the Anika Florian YouTube page and we also streamed live on periscope and Facebook Watch.
So we're streaming, streaming live on those because I said it's one of those shows that you have to watch it.
Alright, but there's no audio form going to a podcast or nothing yet.
Got you All right, I'm gonna I'm gonna ask them.
All right below.
Well, listen, man, Thanks for hanging out with us.
I've been wanting to do this for a while, and I'm glad we kind of caught you will say not off season.
Because your guys, they're always training but not part of an official training camp yet.
for a fight that's been announced.
So I'm glad you have a little bit of flexibility in your schedule to do this.
Not for sure, man.
I really appreciate the time and yeah, exactly.
Perfect time before it.
Hopefully, I'll get back on when I do get a fun.
Yeah, you said, uh, coupons an evil.
You're open to that Edwards running back.
Any of them names, you're ready to go.
It will be 2020 though, right? Yeah.
Yeah, exactly for sure. 2020.
Then nowadays, like I said, now, I'm trying to do my diet now stay in shape because with co ventures letter the cancelations every week And, like, I wanna be the one to step up like said, if the right guys are always saying yes to me with a full camp, I'm gonna have to say yes.
It is like one week notice, and they need somebody to fight or they're not gonna fight.
So, like they've gone through a camp.
I wanna be that guy.
That chance that we could call like, Yo, this guy said he's ready in shape, always in shape.
So I wanna be like, keep my weight low right now because there's a lot of welterweight fights coming up in, uh, in November and December, So I wanna be able to help on one of those cars.
And we've noticed.
Did you say you were weren't interested in shimmy ever? Does he have a big enough name? You know, for that, that guy has honestly, as one of the biggest names right now, if you look at it following, uh, but not a rank number yet, honestly, it doesn't matter about rank anymore.
Like you said, it's all about hype.
So, like, this guy has so much hype, and the thing I love about him is he talks like he's not afraid to talk trash it like, I mean, he's not as witty as McGregor or anything like that.
But it's just funny that he's not afraid to talk.
And it's gonna be the guy that steals his hype that's going to get all the followers that his game.
So yeah, of course, I'll be dogged with that also, but, um, yeah, just ready, willing to fight anybody.
But like you said, like, it's all about height nowadays, where it's like sometimes the rank number, I'll gain more from fighting him that I would fight from fighting.
Maggie sounds good.
Alright, Alright, bully.
Thanks a lot, man.
Thanks for joining us here on junkie radio.
We appreciate it.
All right, See you.
