Yo, yo, yo, What's up? What's up? What's up? Wake up Call with Avery Sports Show.
We're on the air.
Good afternoon or good evening.
Everyone in the world.
Well, we finally did it.
We finally got to the end of the 2019 2020 NHL season, a season that started close to 365 days a year.
Thief First NHL season to start an end almost a full year apart.
Reached its conclusion event Alberta last night with the Lightning beating the Dallas Stars in six games.
Well, I'll admit, Yo here, Over here on the board, Castor.
I've been pretty blunt on the idea of this season ending not ending because really, none of us knew what was gonna happen when it came to co vid restrictions, the boundaries, etcetera, etcetera.
The fact that they pulled it off, I got to say, Well done.
I got to say it's well done.
For those who obeyed the everyday testing, it wasn't easy to pull off the fact that they may have happened.
You know what, Cruz to them on that.
But in hockey, yes, mhm need that happened.
But There's still so many more questions.
Now, with the NHL season going from not just going from now we're looking at what is next year going to start? One is 2020 2021.
Gonna start, is going to be in December Is gonna be in January is gonna be in February.
What's the format gonna be? Are we going to have to go to the all Canadian format which has been discussed, which would have all seven Canadian teams playing amongst themselves in a shortened season and Onley playing American teams when it comes time to play in the postseason? That could be in play.
And that very well might happen, I think to now, next season in the NHL.
Big thing is that you've got the Olympics coming up next summer.
So NHL does not and should not run a full season of 82 games.
Drink. Pittman said himself.
He doesn't have an appetite to play into another summer.
I can't see the players want to play into into the summer again like you did this year playing into almost October.
You don't if you're NBC.
If you're sports that CBC next year, the Tokyo Olympics will be top priority.
I know what the hockey culture.
But the Olympics are the most watched sporting event outside of the World Cup and the Super Bowl.
That will take president when it comes to finances when it comes to eyeballs over the Stanley Cup playoffs on both networks.
So getting that Cup final, done next year before Tokyo should be vital, should be very critical for league and both networks and I C K K is running chat.
Or maybe it's Chi Chi like Kai Kamara. Welcome.
Welcome to the chat on SportsCastr favorite sports Trouble.
We'll see what happens.
We'll see how things play out to try and pull off.
Somewhat reasonable, any Chelsea's next year.
And you know what? We have to lose some things.
It may involve us losing the All Star weekend that may be scrapped until next year and the year after in 21 2022 the year in, which is gonna be so vital for getting chill to make sure that gets off the ground.
Because we're talking now about the introduction off the Seattle cracking to the league next year, the 32nd franchise and you don't want any issues with them coming into the league, you're gonna hold that the Borders open, that.
You could get some fans in the building in Seattle by then, so we'll see what happens.
I would do a touch on me.
Game six last night, a 2000 win and Dallas look done.
The stars looked finished.
That was a year in which it all starts with as far as they could.
They did all they could And you're seeing now, as is tradition, all the injuries coming out now as to why certain guys like Ben and like Sagan, struggled in this Siri's.
And we heard that Sagan was playing with the wrist injury and surprise surprise.
You always hear you always hear after when the Siri's over, guys they're playing with, you know, a broken wrist.
Tauron rib cartilage there, actually legally dead for most of the Siri's all that kind of stuff.
So you're going to see more and more injuries emerge as we get answers as to why some teams are able to put forward as to why some teams fall off.
And as to why some players struggle because, remember, it's a this is a tougher postseason than years past you.
Depending on where you finish in the 2014 tournament, you are playing in the qualifying Siri's or You're playing a round robin format, four games against three other teams.
So this is tough.
People want to say Astros because it wasn't a normal season because, you know, it wasn't because of the team got in.
I would say I've said it before if you're gonna asked risk anything on this postseason Oscars.
But asters and say this was the hardest postseason to complete in NHL history due to the pandemic and due to having 24 teams and due to now having a next around for every team to plant, that is what asterisk when you're talking about the 2019 2020 NHL season, you know, So we're going to disagree with that.
But, hey, I'm going to stand on my point on that as to what the asterisk, if you do use one, should be used for Game six.
Britain Point bringing points, scored his 14th goal of the postseason Blake Coleman because 15 that postseason.
As Tampa went up to nothing, Dallas just couldn't get things going there out shot horribly in that game.
In the first period, it was 11 to 2, Um, shots for Tampa early.
This is a game in which Tampa controlled the pace.
Tampa was running down the Stars, and it was just Tampa just had more juice sucking the tank.
Dallas with the Anton Khudobin, Anton Khudobin was struggling.
You could see he was tired, and it's tough because that was a tough spot because you lose Ben Bishop.
And really, you couldn't really pull, um could open and putting Jake Oettinger, someone who hadn't even played 10 games, period as NHL player yet.
So really, you were writing could open until the wheels fell off.
But but also credits and a good open, though stepping in for Ben Bishop, who was deemed unfit to play and bit bank Open, came in dreaming that minor, undersized goalie played his heart out as Dallas rode a wave all the way to Game six off the cup final cell.
He should hang his hat.
He should hang his head high as to what he accomplished during the Stanley Cup playoff front for Dallas stars.
But one thing I do, I was stunned with, Well, you know I shouldn't even say it's done because of how the states have handled Cove in.
But what I was Mawr embarrassed by was seeing fans in Tampa Bay and Dallas whiling out There's no pandemic going on.
There are watch parties inside the American Airlines Center.
Dallas had a watch party inside the arena and down Texas, just making some raw nuts to.
And when the Lightning one fans were outside Emily Arena, they ran to the outside the arena.
They were cheering and jumping around five 1000.
I didn't see a mask in sight.
I didn't send you a distanced.
I just saw mayhem in Pandemic.
As Florida's decided, You know, what we're gonna ignore? This we're gonna ignore are the lightning fans all around the arena just celebrating, risking their health like you gotta be joking me.
And of course, you know it's gonna be a parade for lightning.
There's a parade on the water.
So we were both parade for the team when they get back to Tampa Bay and I'm sorry Tampa because the actual city called Tampa Bay, Tampa, Florida Let me correct myself in that.
When I get back to Tampa, there'll be an actual um per hay de Vaux Jr.
What's up? Good to see you back here in the chat room talking.
It's gonna be a you know, it's gonna be a parade on Michael Robertson and chat as well.
It will be paraded me fans, but right now it's just I don't think that's safe to have.
You know, there's gonna be how many 10 20,000 people are gonna wanna welcome the Lightning back.
But if this time right now in Tampa Bay, that isn't safe, that's very risky.
So we'll see how things check up when that after the parade, maybe a week after the parade, we'll see how things shake up.
Because who, boy that's gonna be on ugly, ugly, ugly sight.
Hey, ways, You know what we'll get to and we'll get to a baseball in second here with you won't be postseason starting up, but I do want to get into NFL.
And even before re capping Week three, I know it's a two things we have Thio move one day back.
You couldn't do it on Monday, but I get to NFL talk and breaking news on the Tennessee Titans.
I think many of us have said before the NFL should have found a way to bubble up somehow some way.
The NFL has been flying around for all the games.
And now we've got our first Corona outbreak among the NFL franchise.
The Tennessee Titans have been stood down by the NFL until at least Saturday due to an outbreak.
Can't say you can't say you didn't see it coming somewhere down the line among a team you can't see.
This wasn't gonna happen somewhere online.
The Tennessee Titans have eight positive cases of coronavirus.
Oh, my goodness.
I'm just the NFL.
Really thought they could just proceed as normal and hope the virus would just step aside.
Let them play football for a full 16 game season.
So you're looking at now scheduling hell.
If the Titans can't play for who knows how long I'm looking at, I just don't know what that feels gonna dio If the Titans aren't cleared by this weekend or midweek next week, What are you gonna dio? You might have to look at this and say, Listen, we're gonna have to have a team that plays less than 16 games in the season.
That's his life.
You can't risk any more.
We've already watched as on a football thing is not taking me seriously.
We've already thought we already had coaches 500 grand for not wearing a mask on the sidelines.
Coaches like Jon Gruden, Kyle Shanahan.
They were wearing a mask in there.
Find new hot and the Chiefs Ravens game.
John Harbaugh took his mask off 23 d o t l at the official, and you know he didn't get fined for that as well, too, on my thing Is that with the John Harbaugh situation, If you take your mask off, okay, it's already five.
Networking Mask of the Coach.
But if you take your mask off and then go to yell on official ejection automatic ejection natural have been or that should be amended to you Crazy.
You can't be doing that.
Dude, Keep your mask on.
Don't come up to a person to yelling them and I don't care about.
You know, they've been test every single day.
They're not in a bubble is like hockey or the NBA where you could say okay.
Yes, they're in a bubble.
They're not going outside of their range.
They can take the mask off because everybody there is Corona free.
The NFL and MLB are flying around and they're being exposed to their republic to an extent.
So for John Harbaugh to do that was so dangerous.
And I'm telling you for that me they deserve a little bit more than 100 grand for a fine, because that was a deliberate act that he did in a pandemic.
We've got a mask on.
Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid.
After seeing what happened to the coaches, you think they would pay attention and say, Okay, you know what we can I don't wanna lose 100 grand or who knows what else.
Oh, my gosh, like you're living in a cartoon show right now Really bad one with how people are just not.
It's a Simpsons episode.
It is The Simpsons.
South Park is going to parody this very soon.
You know, South Park is going to parody either the NHL and be a bubble or how football is handling Cove in or baseball.
You know what's coming? They have parodied other NFL issues before on that show, so why not parody? The coach is not working math on the sidelines.
Eso Week, Week four It is the Steelers at Tennessee.
If this If this game can happen, you are looking at probably a outright canceled game and Pittsburgh in Tennessee in a playing 15 games compared to 16.
Because it is only baseball.
We could make up a game.
Football doesn't work like that where the games are made up at the end of the year.
The game doesn't happen.
The game doesn't happen.
There's no making up a football game unless there's some very riel, shocking cir***stances.
Like when the Vikings have to play in Detroit because Metrodome Roof collapsed and I got to play in Detroit on the Monday but I I'll be very shocked to this game.
Happens between Tennessee and Pittsburgh.
Wild, wild stuff, but weak reaction.
Once again, I start the Packers.
You know, me being a green big guy, huge it over the New Orleans Saints there three and oh, and there is still a high scoring team in the league.
Great game for them.
Rennard Rogers had a heck of a game on the road for Green Bay and the Chiefs knocking up Baltimore 34 20.
That a F C right now is still run by Casey that the path a home show is still incredibly run.
Casey, once again, I think Casey is going in there, and the Casey will take Number one seed in that conference on there.
You know what I feel bad for? I feel bad for Giants fans.
The Niners have lost basically 46 guys to injury, and the Niners still walked into New York and slap the Giants in the mouth, 36 to 9.
The Niners came in with still many backups and third string guys, and that was still light work for them to smack up the Giants by over 25 points.
Oh, boy, if you're Joe Judge, if you are Daniel Jones, if you're anyone in a Giant's uniformed, what do you do now? You are going three, and it's only getting worse for you.
It is only getting worse.
Nick Mullins Nick Mullins curved through the Giants D 25 for 36 passing 334 passing yards.
That was a game in which the the Niners were having way too much fun and they got things done in the air, on the ground and offensively as Daniel Jones, 17 for 3239 yards passing at one i m t Yikes, Yikes, Yikes, that's a That's a tough look.
That's a really tough look.
If you're a Giants fan or wrap things up with little baseball talk and will be postseason, we're getting started today.
Yo, the 16 team tournament, the most unique baseball postseason of all time is here.
Let's go through.
Go through the brackets quickly.
That's right. We have brackets here off 16 teams.
Number one town in the A L number one Tampa against number eight Toronto.
Cleveland New York 236 Matchup.
The Twins and the Astros.
Oakland and the White Sox.
Ella against Milwaukee for five.
San Diego again. ST.
Louis, 36 Cubs against the Marlins.
Welcome back to the postseason.
Miami and the 27 matchup.
The Braves against the Reds.
Welcome back to the postseason.
Cincinnati and the blue To welcome back to the postseason.
Bracket field is gonna be fun, fun, fun to watch.
Best of three higher seed host all three games, and then we go into a bubble in San Diego, L.
So you didn't see how teams handle a very short Siri's like Toronto and Tronto in Tampa.
This thing serious? Where, Yes, that's a 18 matchup.
But if that young core Toronto can steal a ball game, I think they have a chance.
It comes down to the Blue Jays stealing Game one.
You've got to do that, especially this series in which you are playing entirely on the road.
There's no travel.
You're playing all three games of all in the Tampa, you don't get home field at all.
You're not going back to Buffalo.
Even Buffalo isn't really your home.
So really interesting to see the pitching matchup in for Game one for Toronto Tampa Matt Shoemaker goes to mount against place.
Now I know somewhere saying, Why wasn't hygiene right? You pitching? But I don't mind.
I'm actually getting the start in Game one, but I think yeah, if Toronto can find a way to still like first game and put and put Tampa on the ropes Oh my goodness, that would be fun to watch shall be interesting to see if they can find a way to get runs, generate offense early and get toe Blake Snell early as Blake Snell.
It's someone who Blake Snell is.
Someone who has shut turned down pretty well.
He's only allowed two runs over 723 innings against Toronto.
So hey, gotta get him early because Blake Snell against Toronto against Toronto.
Give potentate runs.
So there'll be a fun postseason with the short best of three Siri's.
I think you're gonna get, ah, lot of upsets, potentially in this format of the first round.
I'm excited. I'm Jack for baseball, too.
Regions Postseason and the World Series this year will be entirely played in Arlington.
Still, Elders NL.
That'll be best of seven like normal, But it will be weird again, like it was weird to see the Lightning celebrated titled Remington over Dallas.
It'll be weird to see to non Rangers teams playing for a world Siris in Arlington.
But you know what? Hey, if we get to the finish, I'm glad.
Anyway, that's it. That's all.
Thank you for tuning in the wake up call.
Once again, we're back again on Friday.
