But you will e What's up, everybody? Welcome into the sports Got Mike show right here on K c p R 98 5 95 7.
Yeah, sports got Mike hanging out with you on a Monday.
I hope you guys can hear me.
Okay, so today is Monday.
Of course, we'll get into what happened over the weekend.
Give you our best and worst of the weekend.
All that good stuff is well, but first topic of conversation off course has got to be Nuggets.
I told you I I had every look I wanted them to do.
Well, I wanted them to win.
I just It's just too much.
This is LeBron's.
What? 10th finals appearance? It's pretty impressive for a guy for one guy, so you know, just it just goes to show you exactly just how this guy operates and how great of a player he really is.
Him and Anthony Davis obviously made the big, big difference in this game.
But of course, the Lakers beat the Nuggets, won 17 toe 107 on Saturday and you know it's kind of unfortunate, you know, for the Nuggets.
But there, in that now they're in the conversation now.
Make some adjustments with this team.
Look, the formula is there.
The players are there.
It's it's definitely Oh, it's It's definitely, uh, been drawn up properly for these guys to come back next year and compete for that Western Conference final again.
Um, it's gonna be interesting to see what happens along the way, but I like their chances of getting back here.
Look, they played well, man.
They really did.
You gotta remember two.
We're talking about guys like Anthony Davis and we're talking about LeBron James.
And you know, these guys aren't aren't the easiest pass.
You got one, but the Lakers just I mean, Anthony Davis had 27 points in that game.
I mean, these guys were just beast in it.
A D was eight for 16.
LeBron was 15 to 25.
They took shots, lots of them.
And LeBron James was all over the fricking boards.
13 defensive rebounds and three offensive rebounds.
In that game, he was everywhere.
I told you guys, it is the absolute fit.
One of the definitive factors for me when I watch basketball, because if you're not on those boards, you're missing out and they just attacked the boards.
So unfortunately, it is what it is.
But, hey, the Nuggets definitely have that recipe.
And they can definitely get, uh, crawl their way back into that Western Conference finals as well.
Celtics Heat uh, they beat Excuse me.
The Heat beat Celtics 1 25 1 13 toe win that Siri's 4 to 2.
They advance and win the Eastern Conference finals.
Man, I'm telling you, this is This is another team that just, you know, they This is a team that actually surprised me so well, like, I don't want to say that they surprised me.
What I want to say is that the Celtics underachieved.
In my opinion, I thought that they were a much better team.
Uh, then they put on display.
Now they won two games, and that's all well and good.
But you didn't win enough.
You didn't do enough to get to the next level.
And unfortunately, the heat just had, you know, they wanted it more.
In my opinion, these air two very good basketball teams, I just feel like the Celtics under played their value.
Jayson Tatum is a phenomenal player.
Kimball Walker is one of the best point guards in the game right now.
And Marcus Smart.
I mean, look, they did what they could, but you got to do better than eight of 22 from the field.
Marcus Kemba, you got to do better than seven or 15 and each of you give me 20 points.
I need I need more than that.
I need more than that in the game six.
And they just have kind of been under achieving throughout this Eastern Conference finals.
They just they did.
And you know, the heat brought the heat.
Jimmy Butler in that last game had 39 minutes and it was 8.
19 to 22 points.
But the fact was that he was a key facilitator, Uh, at a bio was 11 of 15 from the field and he had 32 points.
He was a big, big part of that win.
And look, when you have 14 rebounds as a power forward, I mean, he stepped up and he took control of that game and he was, uh, in my opinion, the M V p of that game for sure.
Congratulations to the Heat, though.
They did what they had to do in Boston.
Didn't get it done.
And I sat here and said, Man, I can't believe I'm sitting here rooting for the Boston Celtics to win a basketball game and it's just, you know, being a guy from New York and growing up being a big next man.
But look, the Heat just had what it takes and this lineup looks really good.
I like the heat chances of winning, Uh, this Siri's Now the question is, will they e don't know if they will, but we'll talk about it coming up for sure.
However, I do think the Heat have a really good chance of, you know, taking this deep into the finals.
We're not going to see, you know five games.
I think we see six or seven to be honest with you in the MLB.
The New York Yankees lost six of their last eight regular season games, which included syriza losses to the Toronto Blue Jays Miami Marlins.
But they're still limping into the wild card round as the fifth seed in the 1st 16 team expanded playoff in MLB history, which you know don't see very often.
UM among the few bright spikes, bright spots for my Yankees was that leadoff hitter deejay LeMay who thank you.
Colorado Rockies went two for three and Sundays, 50 lost to the Marlins to finish the season with the best average in the majors at 3 64.
Yeah, now, D. J.
Said, it's pretty cool.
I don't think it's really sank in yet, is what he said after winning that batting title.
I wish it was over 162 games, and I wish there were fans in the stands.
But it is what it is, and I'm definitely proud of it as you should be now by winning the ELA the batting title deejay LeMay, who became Onley the fourth player in Yankees history toe leave the majors in batting in batting average, joining some some guys right here on my wall back here.
If you can't for those of you that are watching, UM, he joins the likes of ****ey Mantle, who was 3 53 back in 1956 Joe D.
3 81 in 1939 and Lou Gehrig with 3 63 back in 1934.
It's the main huge second batting title.
He won one with Colorado Rockies back in 2016.
It became just the second player in MLB history.
Toe win the batting title in both leagues, joining Hall of Famer um Eddie Delonte.
So this is big stuff.
We thoroughly appreciate you, uh, giving up d J.
LeMay here because the guy has been a bright spot in this for this organization in the lineup.
And, hey, now he's won the batting title as a Yankee and, uh, fourth player in Yankee history to lead the majors in batting average, and the company that he's keeping right now is pretty pretty impressive.
Luke Voy went hitless Sunday, but his 22 home runs were the most in this.
A pandemic shorten 60 game season.
May Human Voice became the first pair of teammates to lead the majors in batting average and home runs since Hank Aaron and Eddy Matthews back in 1959 for the Atlanta Braves.
So, congratulations to them.
Kudos shortened season, some unbelievable accolades, and I am absolutely happy for them Now.
We do have the 2020 MLB playoff standings, and this is how it's gonna go down.
So in the American League we'll have the number one raise versus the number eight Blue Jays.
You got eight versus White Sox tuber 73 Verse six Twins versus Astros And then the Indians are taken on the number five Yankees.
The Indians came in at number four in the National League.
Number one seed Dodgers were taken on the Milwaukee Brewers.
Honestly, we sat here and said that we would probably see Milwaukee in this, um, extended playoff, First time ever, 16 teams.
So this was, uh, Brewers barely got in, and I really didn't think that they were gonna do it about midway in, but they managed to get it in, and now they got to take on the Dodgers.
Braves versus the Reds.
Number two verse number seven.
Cubs versus Marlins Number three.
Verse number six on.
Of course, the Padres are taking on the Cardinals number four versus number five.
So that's where we're at.
Everything I believe starts kicks off tomorrow.
And I think if I can get in here on Tuesday, you got Yanks, Indians, Astros, Twins, White Sox A's, uh, Blue Jays race.
So we've got four games to kick off.
Uh, the A l wildcard Siri's.
It's gonna be pretty interesting.
Um, you got cranky versus, uh, made a You got coal versus Bieber.
This is gonna be they're gonna be some pretty interesting, uh, dueling pitching matches here.
My biggest thing with with baseball is we're on a shortened season minus 102 games, so they play 60 games, and I almost feel like we've seen more injuries in this 60 games shortened season.
Then we have another on other regular seasons stop, which is really weird.
You would think they've had all this time off, you know, they'd be healthy and good to go.
But, hey, you know what? Sometimes things happen, and it is what it is.
But so Tuesday, uh, starts the A l W c.
And then, of course, Wednesday will continue with that, and they're gonna Sprinkle in some National League wild card games as well.
So we'll keep you posted here and let you know what everybody is doing, how everybody's playing.
But when we come back, what's up running.
What's up, Alex? When we come back, we're gonna talk.
Who would you rather have on your team? Right.
How weird is it? Can you believe I'm sitting here saying that? Who would you rather have on your team? Russell Wilson.
We will get to that on the other side of the break.
Keep a lot, sports guy. Mike. So not gonna work.

Welcome back to the sports guy, Mike.
Show right here on K C B R 98 5 a.
10 41 100 mics FM dot com as well as SportsCastr dot com sports guy Mike Chris Brain.
What's up? C b. Oh, crap.
Hold on, hold on.
See? You know, can you hear me? Is this good? Yeah, you're good, man.
What do you on your phone? Oh, my gosh.
Dude, I get up, I'm coming on here.
And my just computer freaking like updates by itself.
And it says I have an hour and 30 minutes away.
I didn't do anything, man.
Other than that, I'm doing good.
It says nine more minutes, so I didn't wanna rob the audience of nine or 10 minutes of chris breeding.
You know, they clamor for it all the time.
Hey, man, I get tons of emails from All right.
You get one from Vic Fangio.
I'm waiting for the Vic Fangio email for sure.
Oh, my God, that guy.
We'll get into that here in a minute.
But another week, another record for Russell Wilson on thanks to five touchdown passes Sunday did this guy's on fire? Um, look, this is a guy that went and has now passed Patrick Mahomes with a record with a record 14 touchdowns in his first three games.
Now it's Look, I'm not going to say one is better than the other, but I do have to ask you right now, at this moment, even before this big Baltimore Ravens game that he's got to deal with this year, who are you taking toe have on your football team? Russell Wilson or Patrick Mahomes? You know, Mike, I don't know how I can, like, equate these guys like when I goto.
Do I want filet mignon or do I want the best New York Strip you have in the back like, What do I want? It's funny, because I think last year, and this isn't taking anything away from Patrick Mahomes.
Everybody was on it.
New guy on the scene took everybody by storm.
Amazing player Russell Wilson has always been that so it was.
It was just ***y to put Patrick over.
Now, who would you take for the long term? Obviously, you take Patrick Mahomes.
He's younger, period.
That's just the way you look at it as a franchise.
But for me this year, it's like picking, you know, one a and one B and that the one A and one B switches every week.
I picked Russell Wilson this year because, uh, the only reason that I did that in in fantasy was because I thought it would be tough for Patrick Mahomes to duplicate what he did last year.
That's all not taking anything away from him.
I think the fact that everybody is seeing him, they know what he does. He's amazing.
Um, yeah, so, like, for me this year, Flip a coin, bud, I don't care which one.
I really don't care.
You pick the guy because I'm happy with either one of those guys.
I like how you said one A and one B.
It really is hard to First of all, I'll be honest with you.
I'm taking Russ.
I know people think I might be crazy, but today after what I've seen this guy doing three weeks e I Look, I'm not taking anything away from Pat, either, and I have him on my fancy.
I had the number one pick in the sports Guy might show league this year, and he's who I took.
And you know, there's a reason I took pack.
But at the same time, there's also a reason why I picked Russell Wilson before the season started as M v P.
Just because you could kind of just had a feeling watching him play last year.
This is a guy that was gonna have a year that he probably hasn't had in a long time, or if ever.
For that matter, look, this is a seasoned veteran.
This is a guy that knows what he's doing, and he's picking apart.
Defense is like it's like it's cool.
It's the only problem with that team is there is zero pass rush, which I mentioned, I think last week that's their own nice for them right now, Dude, that is their biggest knock is their defense isn't great and their pass rush is just non existent.
But it kind of puts a lot on rust toe, where he's got to make sure he puts up 34 plus points, whatever the case may be.
But at the end of the day, if I'm picking somebody right now, Week three of the season of 2020 I'm taking Russell well.
Well, let's not forget D. K.
Metcalf stolen touchdown from him yesterday, too.
And he'll never make that mistake again, right? I would surprise that happened with him.
Honestly, I am, too.
That was ridiculous, and they're lucky they didn't lose that eyes.
The trolls were out already right, And that's That's part of this whole thing I'm talking about with Russ, and it's like he's got to score 34 points or they're gonna lose because the defense isn't holding up their end.
That's what's gonna be really tough for Seattle moving forward as thes competitors get a little bit harder.
These games are gonna get harder to win because he's gonna have to put up more offensive point.
Well, and I think I got a little bit harder with the injury to Carson yesterday to I'm not sure where we're at with that, but losing him is gonna be a big loss.
Yeah, I hurt me too.
I have him. Yeah.
What do you think it was like? What do you think they meant to hurt them? Because they're all talking about that.
I forgot. Who tackled.
Tweaked it on purpose.
Yeah, I heard some rumblings about that.
I watched it live.
I didn't see it, but then I watched the replay.
There could be something to it.
I guess there could be some foul play about.
No, Uh, Speaking of the Seahawks, Russell Wilson, and on Sunday became the fifth player in NFL history.
Still four touchdown passes in three straight games.
So you have Peyton Manning did it Five games in 2000 and four.
Dan Marino did it in four straight games back in 1984.
Rusted it this year in 2020.
Patrick Mahomes did it in three games in 2018.
And good old Drew Brees did it back in 2000 and 11 and he did it in three games.
So some pretty good company right there.
So moving on past that, however, the game that you know between those two teams, uh, yesterday, Excuse me with Seattle in Dallas was really like you said It was kind of tooth and nail right there.
They almost lost that game.
But I'm gonna say this 38 to 31 Cowboys in Dak played really well, and there were a lot of games that were three points.
Four points, you know, just really, really close games.
This cowboy Seahawks game was really, really close.
Are the Cowboys a better team than one and two? Yeah, absolutely.
And I'm gonna I'm gonna make some cowboy fans mad because we talked about this yesterday during the game.
Jack Prescott is a good quarterback.
He puts up the numbers.
I think I'm gonna do my I think he's a winner, right? Is he Kirk Cousins on? I'm not saying, you know how I say because it is a limp and all that stuff.
I don't think any of that about that press that I think that Prescott Baller, but for some reason, just like Tony Romo, he could never, never figure out to win those how to win those tough games at the end.
And I don't know if that's Castaic characters.
Kind of what? The cowboys.
You know what they do? I don't know, but It's starting to get me toe Wonder like, What's up with this team? Why can't they figure out a way like Zeke was non existent? Really? In that game? Hey, didn't have a big role in it.
Um, Ari Cooper, where the heck are you? There's this dude Wilson catching passes left and right.
So is Gallop CD.
Lamb makes like a bunch of, like, really kind of rookie mistakes yesterday, and I feel like that.
It's gotta be the guy that, like, All right, we gotta get Let's let's do Zeke. Zeke.
Like, I think they could have actually, uh, sped up the game by giving it to Zeke and just but kept it a lower scoring game.
Not letting Russell Wilson score that many points on him, but they never ended up doing that.
They wanted to get in the shootout because that's ***y.
Well, yeah, but here's the thing to you.
14 carries 34 yards.
Didn't we just pay you a grip of money, bro? That offensive line didn't look that great yesterday for the cowboys.
You know, the consummate top line in all the football didn't look that great yesterday.
No, they really didn't.
And, you know, you bring up a great point CD lamb look.
He had five catches, 65 yards.
He could have had Mawr.
Not what you said, making these rookie mistakes.
Look, this is a team that when you look at them again on paper and I hate saying this, but 472 yards, three touchdowns, two picks, first of all, those two picks coughs you that game Dallas would have one should have won this game.
But that's the thing.
Like you said, they're having problems closing out these games.
And right now, with as much talent is going on around the league period and how a lot of teams have elevated their play.
There's no room for mistakes right now.
At least that's the way it seems through three weeks like tonight.
There's two teams that are undefeated with two of the best quarterbacks in the league going at it.
Somebody's coming out with a loss tonight and everybody's on their high game.
If you're game, is it right here right now, you're missing the boat, man and you will miss the playoffs.
Yeah, absolutely another guy You didn't mention as faras the top quarterbacks watching Aaron Rodgers last night orchestrate that offense.
He's up there, too, in that VP talk for this year, for sure he is.
It e you hate it.
Taste right now.
I told you, though, man, I told you I love me some of that bad man.
Hey, I told, but I did say it was gonna be one of the other.
He was either gonna take a look and and And it's It's only fair when a guy's clipping at your heels you got you got two choices.
You can either lay down you stand up, puff that chest out, do what you gotta do to keep your job.
E Cohn is in the face style and say, sitting up sit on the bench And that's what he did.
Look, and Jordan, love is not going to be any kind of, uh, amicable replacement for Aaron Rodgers.
We know that, but I'm almost I love how he made the comment of, you know, Well, you know, Mats finally got this, you know, got our offense clicking, and we're doing it.
No, What's finally happening is you realize that you are replaceable and you better start buying into what he's selling and vice versa.
You two need to shut up and get along and figure out how to work this offensive proper way.
E I disagree with that. 100%.
I think this is 90% Aaron Rodgers and 10% coaching step.
Who knew Lazard was Ah, M v P or Ah, Probo candidate this year.
But you know what? I have to give him credit.
He made some great catches.
Now, yesterday, man, it was dude.
He looked great, man.
Maybe they've got a 12 punch.
Now, who knows? Everyone's picking him up in fantasy 145 yards.
I believe in the touchdown yesterday, and I mean, you know, Packers did manage to beat the same 37 or 30 again.
Another really close game, one touchdown or less.
A lot of these a lot of these games finished like that yesterday, and it was It was just crazy toe watch.
That game went back and forth, uh, the entire time.
So let me look at this.
So our locks were all good.
Tony had the Titans.
Okay? You had the bucks your own Broncos.
That was a lock with two red check marks.
Right? And I had the Combs who beat the Jets 30 67.
What? What a dumpster.
I did fanduel on that game for the Broncos.
You sad for them? But happy for me, right? Just put it that way.
Let's get that money.
Uh, Tony's upset did not work out since the 40 Niners mocked the Giants 36 to 9.
Um, your your pick was kind of It was mad, as you would say, but, you know, the saints were favored.
You picked the Packers a Z Europe.
So that is an upset.
So, yeah, it was mad, but it was a win.
But it was a win.
And I took the Bengals over the Eagles, and we ended up with a tie.
Okay, so you get you get, you get the spread buddy.
But I gotta ask you this This is not a B.
Is a big, uh, topic for, you know, guys like us and writers and stuff like that.
This game ended up being a tie game to Doug Peterson is just He's getting railroaded.
Everybody's picking him apart right now.
A lot of people saying it was a bad move.
Some people saying, Hey, rather take the tide than the loss because at the end it'll benefit them instead of a loss.
So you gotta tell me on the other side of the break, we're gonna do this is a tie better than a loss, Or is it the same as a loss stick around sports guy Mike? So don't be Oh, hey, Bill started to hear about your car accident.

Welcome back to the sports guy Mike.
So right here on K C B R 98 5 a.
10 40 in Colorado Springs, 106 FM dot com and SportsCastr dot com.
Sports Guy Mike Chris Breaking Hanging out with you on a Monday So took Peterson.
The, uh, the Eagles were playing.
The Cincinnati Bengals had mawr than ample opportunity.
They made a faux pas.
They got pushed back.
False start called right and Doug Peterson decides to punt instead of going for it.
There was roughly under 20 seconds left, I believe at the time.
So he's getting smashed for that for taking the tie because, basically, by him punting Chris, he was saying we'd rather take the tie than the loss.
Now, keep in mind if you look at standings right now.
The Eagles air 02 and one ahead of the O and three Giants.
So was it a bad move on Doug Peterson? Should he have gone for it? And is a tie better than a law eso in the NFC East, where ah, half a game may make a difference? Yeah, in any other division in football? No, it's just ugly, and it messes up how pretty our standings.
Look on all of our APS that we use.
I'm like, what is that third box for? Oh, yeah, The stupid teams have a tie.
Drives me nuts, but Okay, so Doug Peterson did make the right decision, But he does lose man points so we can take those away, maybe pull his hole card for a week or two, but yeah, you know what? To be honest with you, dude, I was so disappointed that they didn't just go for it.
And then I started thinking about us watching it with the guys, and I was like, You know, it's really windy in Philly.
Maybe the winds coming out of, you know, I was just trying to make excuses, right? But no, this is what would have happened.
They would have missed the field goal.
Joe Burrow would have pushed them into field goal range and they would have lost that game.
That's exactly what would have happened.
So, yeah, it ties better than the lost, even though we hate it.
Look, here's my take on I I agree with you.
I I honestly think that Doug Peterson made the right decision for the team and the record.
Because when this all comes down to it with right now, Washington at one and two is I mean, this'll.
NFC East Division is I'm sorry, but it is a complete dumpster Fire, dude, it's garbage.
I mean, we set well, three of us talked about at the beginning of the year, and we're like, you know, this is, you know, good luck to the Eagles and Cowboys.
One of you guys are gonna come out ahead, but it's still gonna end up being a seven and nine winner. Probably.
So but this is even worse than we could have even imagined.
However, Doug Peterson, in my opinion, kind of made the right decision.
Now, if it would have been me, I would have went for it.
I just look, man cards more important than the time you have you have.
There is a rookie on the other side of the deal.
I'm taking my chances.
I want to take my chances with this kid.
I am not going down.
I'm not going down like a punk.
You know what I would have done that last drive, I would have been like, All right, Jalen, go get me in field goal range, please.
Whatever you have to dio run past, I don't care.
Give me in field goal range because it's obvious that Carson went and got it today.
That's what I would have done.
And why is there not a package for him? I don't want to see just a wildcat.
Maybe some Taysom Hill stuff like Jalen hurts his Taysom Hill times 10.
Oh, he's way better, I know.
So what are we doing like, Are we afraid to see what he's doing? Maybe he's protecting Carson Wentz.
I don't know, but that team, the way it's set up, it's very much the way the team with the Broncos had when Tebow came in.
There's kind of some good players.
They're a little bit still.
The defense is all right, but Tebow just knew how toe win and I get.
I just get killed when I say that.
But Tim Tebow knows how to win.
Is it pretty? No, but he knows how to win, and it was just It's just one of those things.
I think Jalen Hurts has that but 10 times better than what Tim Tebow was.
I don't understand why they're not utilizing the asset that they have, because I like the Doug Peterson, is a coach.
I think he's a really good coach.
You know what? That team is just void of really good talent.
Yeah, that's it.
Alright, agree, you know, And here's the thing.
He's already been asked.
You know, Carson went 29 to 47 to 25 He had a touchdown and a pick last night.
Doug Peterson was asked on a podcast.
This morning, Um, you know about once what's the next move? And he wholeheartedly said, Look, that's a ridiculous then Carson Wentz is our guy.
He's our quarterback, you know? Let's you know, let's move on.
But at the same time, something's gotta click here.
You have to You have to change something, something that you're doing something in your schemes.
Something in your play calling is just not working.
You couldn't beat the Cincinnati Bengals with a rookie quarterback who, by the way, through better and had a better performance on the field.
Then you know, then your seasoned veteran after right, you know.
So something's got to give somewhere whether or not they go to another quarterback, at least Doug Peterson saying No for now.
But I'm here to tell you, Chris, if this team goes if they lose another game, because that tie is somewhat of a loss.
But if they go Oh, in 303 and one after next week, Doug Peterson may be changing his tune.
He has to, man, and I'm not saying Carson Wentz when his career is done.
I mean, look at Nick Foles, man.
He's been around.
Maybe he's Nick Foles.
I just know that what I'm seeing today is not good enough for the Philadelphia Eagles to compete.
And that being said, I mean, I watched that Washington game yesterday, and I'm like, Is Alex Smith ready yet? Oh, you didn't want to keep Adrian Peterson.
He looks pretty good with the Lions and do their offensive lines worse than yours.
So I'm just like I dude, I just honestly, bro like that East and watching Deck.
I'm like you need to be.
The Dallas Cowboys needs to need to be another 11 and five football team at the worst at the worst, but that's not gonna happen.
Do you think it's because the division sucks so bad and they know they can just coast a little bit? I mean, I think that could be possibly it, right? Yeah, it could be.
I would hope not.
I hope that they don't have that mentality.
And I don't think Mike McCarthy is a guy that would even, you know, let that creep into his head.
But at this point, anything is possible.
It's just it's weird that division is just so, so bad.
Now, you were talking about Nick Foles and the Bears beat the Atlanta Falcons 30 to 26 yesterday.
Man, the Falcons just choke of all.
You know what? You gotta give them credit.
They hung in there.
Yeah, Chilo Nick Foles came in there and Homeboy threw three touchdowns, and, you know, look, here's the thing about Chicago.
You gotta think of this right, Mitchell? Too risky. Get sit down.
Nick Foles comes in.
Yeah, if you're the coach.
Chris, are you going back to Mitchell trumpet or you just gonna come out on tomorrow and say, Hey, by the way, we're gonna go with Nick this week, you know, or are you going to say, Hey, we were just trying something experimental because in my in my experience, from what I've seen mistletoe Brisky is not getting his job back.
At least not anytime soon. E.
I was the coach of the Chicago Bears.
Here's my press release.
I want to send a a huge apology to Patrick Mahomes and D Shawn Watson.
We made a horrible mistake, everybody.
An organization that had us pick him.
One not only do that, but trade up, I think.
Did they trade up for that to get Mitchell? Yeah, I want to apologize, and they've all been fired.
Nick Foles is our new quarterback.
That's what I would dio.
Dude, I think that you would be an idiot.
You would be an idiot to go back to Mitchell Drobinski.
Nothing to take away from him.
He brought them back last week to win when they were down.
He just wasn't the guy.
And when you're a coach and when you do something like that, you have your gut feelings.
You know how you feel about something.
And they just pulled the trigger on on Nick.
And now they're three.
And oh, because Matt Nagy pulled that trigger.
And I'll be honest with you.
I don't think Mitchell will be, uh, starting for the Chicago Bears anytime soon unless Nick Foles goes down.
To be quite honest, can I say another thing about the Bears? Why are you having one of your best offensive weapons return punts? Can we? Can we not do that anymore? Gary Cohen, That was a NUG Lee injury.
Didn't need the happen.
Why you have him back there.
They need that guy need that guy, right? Go get somebody like your only job is a punt returner is to catch the punt number one.
Make the decision.
You don't need to re Cohen back then.
You don't know that's what you have.
These and I hate to use that word expendable, but that's really why you have those players in play.
That's what they're that zip you're saying.
That doesn't mean you're hoping those guys get, but that's what you dio that's that's called risk mitigation.
That's what that's what you do, right? You know what I mean? You just don't do it absolutely.
Now you pick them as your lock for last week for this week.
Tampa Bay beat the Broncos 28 to 10.
Uh, Tom Brady man.
Almost 300 yards, Three touchdowns.
This was and you know, I hate to say it because there had to be some kind of meeting of the minds where there had to be a compromised where Tom Brady said to Bruce Arians, Look, we need this to be Mawr like this, meaning it needs to be more of the way I played in New England should put some schemes together.
If you watch a lot of these dink and dunks and the things that were going on that looked that Tampa Bay team had very a lot of similarities to to a New England Patriot looking team, even the rotation of the running backs correct.
So it was really, you know, you could tell that there was a meeting.
Yeah, and Tom said, Look, we need to Do you wanna win, right, Bruce? Well, then we need to do this because we're not winning this way.
We need to figure out another way, and there had to be some compromises, and you could tell by some of the schemes in the play calling on like you said.
The running back rotation was big and, you know, they ended up pulling it off 18 points, so they could have been more.
They took the pedal off the medal.
They slowed it down a bit. They did.
They resting up for next week.
I got to tell you, Mike, it's funny because I was at the exact same place he had lost the Super Bowl with with the little one yard throat of Mike Evans.
I mean, it was really similar.
I was laughing when I saw that I go, Oh, man, Uh, very.
It was funny because they came out gung ho early on, and I think they just honestly, I think he is.
The second half is kind of like a practice.
Let's work on some stuff because these guys are horrible and I will.
I will say Bradley Chub looked like he was coming back.
He looked a lot better.
Callahan looked better.
I'm going to tell you this.
I started a list yesterday during the Bronco game because I was so angry at how they played.
I mean, Driscoll and then ripping comes in and all the guys I'm with and they're like, Oh, that's that Boise State Because they're all from you know, And I'm like I'm like, Yeah, man, I'm like, In what world? Do you think that ripping is better than Driscoll? It's like, You know what? There's one Navy blue sock and then I have kind of off blue sock.
They kinda matched.
I'm wearing them anyway.
They're the same, You know what I mean? No one's gonna notice.
And I was just upset.
And so I started thinking about it.
It's Vic Fangio's fault, Von Millers heard.
Here's why he alienated him the week he gets here.
He makes him do all this other non von Miller crap.
This is not Khalil Mack.
Ron Miller, in the off season, goes and puts on this way best shape of his life.
He did that once before.
Guess what? He blew his A C.
So this is Vic Fangio's fault.
The reason this team is horrific right now, along with John Elway not picking really good players watching Josie Joel try to cover people, just it's hysterical.
In what world are you picking that guy to start for you as a middle linebacker like you.
Johnson was on the street.
Last year comes in and he's your guy.
You start dropping guys like Todd Davis, but you'll keep Callahan because that's your boy from Chicago.
Guess what? Chris Harris Jr looks pretty **** good for the Chargers.
Like, What are we doing? What are we doing? I know.
I mean, it was a total mess.
I'm, like, so frustrated with it, All right? I bet the defensive side of the but the Denver defense yesterday was non existent.
The fact that in the second half there were five points scored between teams.
That just proves that you're right about them taking their foot off the gas, right? My The problem is we talked about this at nauseum after Week one.
What needed toe happen week to moving forward.
Melvin Gordon needs the rock.
Yes, carries eight carries a 26 yards is not giving Melvin Gordon the rock.
And you know what? Throwing behind him three yards down the field isn't helping him either.
What are we doing? Like? It's so frustrating to watch.
And it's funny because, like everything that's been going on in the last four years.
I got a little list.
We This is this is organization wide.
The Denver Broncos used to be the coolest team toe work with in the NFL.
So easy, so great with the press, like, dude, this is, like, really like from top down.
And, like, I don't know about you, Mike, I don't like messing with the Denver Broncos anymore.
Why don't like calling up there for a credential? Well, next week's gonna be a little different.
We're gonna have to do something.
No, I'm talking about like, yes, but I'm just like I'm frustrated.
I don't I don't know why they don't see it.
That e I do agree with you at this point where I thought that maybe Vic was gonna make a big turnaround.
This is gonna be a big year.
And he has completely regressed from what they were able to accomplish last year.
And you're not going to tell me that Drew Lock going down is the reason for the backslide.
But I gotta say this.
I love what Ronnie said here and with the number one pick 21 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select uh, if they don't figure something out, we may just be hearing that.
But you know what, dude? At that point, you have to take Trevor Lawrence.
Even though I think Drew Lock is a viable quarterback in a quarterback for down the road.
There's no way you pass on that, just like Andrew luck.
You gotta take Andrew luck.
Even though you have Peyton Manning, your your your hand is forced at that point, right? Yeah, this is Look, this is scary.
This is not a Denver Broncos team that, you know, we thought we were going to see because of locked because of you know, von having, you know, a good offseason.
Even though the guy had freaking cove it he goes down.
You just the injuries definitely played you guys.
But you should with that much town on that team, you should still and don't ever bring Brett ripping in ever again. Please.
Oh, my goodness.
Um, you know, uh, but it was horrible.
E should have been ableto Chris.
They still should have been able to compete.
Yeah, I still think they would have double digit loss.
I just don't think that team right now in this funny I said the same thing about the Eagles.
I just don't think the Broncos air deep enough right now.
And Justin Simmons wanting that giant contract.
I mean, for me, he's been alright.
I'll take Jackson all day long over him.
I mean, it's just like, I think, the pieces they were relying on, you know, bright spot for the Broncos.
Those young cornerbacks.
They're not playing bad for rookies, e.
I mean, there's some good stuff Bradley chubs rounding into shape.
You look much better if you didn't make Von Miller game £10 like you know, and have him on the other side.
I mean, there's things that are really positive about the Broncos, but the offensive line both tackles rough.
I'm cool with the interior of the offensive line, but there's like, just gaping holes where I e.
I feel like we keep saying Vic Fangio, he's a defensive coach.
Okay, how to show me? Show me.
I have idea here.
Is that Yeah, I have eyeballs.
I don't like this.
You know what defense I like? I like Todd Bulls in the Tampa Bay defense because guess what that looks like That looks like Wade Phillips defense.
Well, you know, we all said that that was one of the most underrated defense is from last year was Tampa and shocked birds out there? Just, dude, Why Why? Why didn't we keep Jack? Why? Why Why? Why did he Why did he get put on the block? God.
And he didn't really sign for much last year.
And he's like, Please, God, and he killed it.
These are the mistakes I'm talking about.
Shaq Barrett, Chris Harris, Jr.
Instantly make that team better.
Okay, so then answer me this.
Then Christians were talking about him.
What? What's the problem? Is it front office? Is it our way? I think, Yes, I think it's Elway, I think.
And I don't know if Elway wants to fire Fangio because, like, where do you go from there? And Joel this and really it's funny because I said from the top down, we don't have an ownership group.
We don't have anybody that can really make a decision.
Joe Ellis is not gonna fire John Elway, and I'm not sure John Elway needs fired, but he does need to be held accountable.
That is, that is something different because I'm not a person that wants people fired.
I'm not. That doesn't make me happy.
I will just tell you this.
My balls tell me Vic Fangio is not a very good head coach.
My eyeballs tell me that John Elway hasn't done a great job with the roster or picking head coaches.
Eso you do with that information what you will.
I will also tell you Joe Ellis doesn't make any decisions and a guy playing owner.
It's rough because you gotta have somebody, like if it's Bethany or I don't care who it iss let's have somebody in charge right now.
You don't have any, and and nobody like you just said John Elway needs to be held accountable.
I'll be honest with you. I know.
And I know people out here in Colorado don't want to hear this because how much everybody loves John and what he was able to.
I love John to man, and I do to look my childhood hero.
I honestly have a lot of respect for the man.
But I'm gonna be honest with you.
Either he needs to fix something yesterday or he needs to go.
I'm just saying it is.
Look, at some point, you run your course, you've been able to do some great things here.
Look what you did with the crush.
Then you left the crush after bringing them to a championship coming over to Denver, getting things situated, getting Peyton Manning over here, getting that Super Bowl.
It was a great thing.
But now you're you're you're kind of in the mud.
You can't get your feet out of this mud to keep it running.
You haven't had a decent quarterback since the guy left, to be quite honest with.
You haven't had any kind of run since that, you know, since that Super Bowl victory, something's got to change and you being at the helm.
Not only do you have to be held responsible and accountable, but maybe you're the one that needs to maybe move on on.
I hate to say it right.
It is what it is.
Here's a Here's something that John Elway can do, which he'll never do.
He's VP of football.
Operations doesn't have to be G.
Peyton Manning lives in Denver.
Peyton Manning is clamoring for a front office job in the NFL.
Why can't you bring Peyton Manning into B G M? Exactly.
And then now there's some fresh blood John Elway's hands and, like watch his hands of it.
John Elway make good business deals like but the Empower one in my high.
That wasn't a good one, either, Man.
That's that's a big red check mark for me, too.
I mean, it looks like the Patriots field at my high, but you know, that being said, I mean, there's things he could do, but I just think he's I think he's so strong willed that he will never do it.
He'll never give up that GM spot.
Let's not until they win again.
Hey, doesn't want to be known as the guy that just kind of let it all die.
Well, it's not that he let it all die.
If he does that, it would actually look like a smart move.
Like I did everything I could.
I brought you guys Super Bowl 50.
We're gonna bring into GM so that we can get a little more firepower in hearme or, you know, we got more heads at the table now.
You know what I mean? It's not going to show and I know in John's Mine it'll look like a sign of weakness, but I don't think it does.
These guys with the dual freaking you know, titles those days should be numbered.
Owner president GM Jerry Jones.
It's not working, my friend.
No, it's not where you need to step down and bring in the G.
And I think John Elway needs to really possibly think about doing that just to make things better.
And like you said, it kind of takes the onus off of him because then he could say, Well, you know, this was so and so his idea, not mine.
So maybe why not make that move? He needs to do something, man, because I don't like to see this e mean, it's if you're a Bronco fan.
I mean, it brings you back to I mean, Thio.
The Broncos were bad when I was like I mean, my whole lifetime.
They've been decent.
They've never This has never been an issue, right? Like a bad year for the Broncos is nine and seven, and they missed the playoffs.
Yeah, like that's the way this is a lot.
This is a talent filled roster especially on the offensive side of the ball.
Jerry, Judy, you know, popular Looks good to, you know, you know a fan.
I mean, hell, Tim Patrick's the one that caught the freaking touchdown yesterday.
I mean, look, these air, There's a lot of talent on this team, so it's got to be done.
I'm not saying fire Nick Fangio tomorrow, but somebody needs to go punch him in the throat and let him know that this will not be tolerated out here and he's got to do better as a coach, They did so good last year with moving forward.
You thought that this was gonna be, you know, a positive thing moving forward for Vic.
And he has taken such a backslide with coach and his team and trying to get these guys ready.
They're just they're not ready and it's becoming a problem.
So, yes, it's funny.
I'm texting like we have a meeting.
That's why that's why I'm about to get off anything.
You want to stay the night before we get out of here.
No thanks for having me on Mike.
It's good stuff.
And guess what? The iPhone works there you go.
So we'll talk a chicken tomorrow.
Same bat channel sports guy Mike Show.
And as I say around here, all times don't sweat small stuff right here.
