you should really You should definitely put the hat back on.
Oh, gosh. Okay. Wait a minute.
Yeah, we're live.
Got You gotta put your jersey on.
Get your hat back on Your hair Looks ridiculous.
No one's No one's watching us yet.
But as soon as you sit down, I'll take care of the intro if you like.
So how excited you are right now.
You probably even speak.
I'm starting that. You're taking too long.
Oh, there he is.
Oh, there he is.
Good afternoon, everybody.
Happy football Sunday.
I am Jeff Di Matteo with gridiron readings.
This is Ronnie Evans, also with gridiron readings.
We are happy to bring to you the week three midday update.
Eso We kind of had a little hole screw up earlier.
Yeah, I don't know who it was, but whoever put in the information said Week four pregame show that that was so, uh, I've got these sausage fingers and I type on a 10 key, and then all the buttons just hit together.
But obviously it's Week three.
Um, sorry for that.
Speaking of Week three, though it is, it's kind of a double win because our fantasy takes today all of the people that we said pregame to look at if you were looking for flex plays or value plays in DFS touchdown braiding another one, he's having a monster game.
Three touchdowns, two touchdowns. Mike Evans.
One to God when two minutes left in the first half? Um, it's actually pretty expected.
Just a tangent real quick.
But Tom Brady had this exact game last week, but he had the most drops by receivers in the NFL.
So this doesn't surprise me at all.
The Broncos are a mess.
It sucks for them there.
Ah, little better off than the 40 Niners, but it's another one of the scenarios where the whole team back on the um yeah, so we'll run through the takes real quick.
We could talk a little bit about the Sunday night and Monday games as well, but just to run through these, it's actually really interesting.
So the first two weeks I went back and did the math and are over unders and prop betting spread going against the spreader for it.
We were at about 76% which by all accounts in the world of gambling, especially over their minds, is really good.
Abnormally, Hyatt's not something that is easy to replicate.
Its, um, today it has not been the case.
And so we do not believe in pretending like you're always right and ignoring when you're wrong.
So he's gonna have wrong.
But just bang through some of these we could talk a little bit about what happened in the games you.
So first up, if the Bengals and the Eagles, anyone who bet on this game got it wrong because nobody one, it was a tie.
Uh, but we had the Bengals winning.
We had an over, and we be obviously went against the Eagles covering the spread.
The game was 46 points total.
The over under was 47.
So barely missed that.
If either of those teams through five different possessions in overtime could have just made a freaking field goal would have been fine.
But oh, well, um, mixing, I thought was actually going to finally have Breakout Kei mixing game.
Not even really break out just something respectable.
I waken talk more about this next week, but I own him in a couple leagues.
I'm not starting him anymore.
If I have better options like James Robinson, for example, I have in every league I have mixing, plugging in, Robinson over mixing.
I think that mixing is a low end running back to at best right now, and it sucks.
I really thought this year was gonna be good for him, but they're not running the defense around him, which surprises me.
It's It's being run around Joe Burrow, which is awesome.
But it sucks for Miskin mixing.
So missed all three on those.
One of our throw ins for a start of the week for streamers was Joe Burrow.
He had a great game again.
Uh, that went really well.
He's the real deal.
I mean, as far as rookie quarterbacks ago, this guys come out.
He's really shown everything.
The number one pick, you know, he's got a poised.
He's got good enough arm strength plus accuracy.
He's doing a little bit of everything.
And now that he's actually targeting Tyler Boyd a little bit more than a J.
Green, as we saw this week his completion percentage is up.
Overall, passing yardage is up.
Expect that to continue over the next few weeks.
I don't know if I sell mixing that we talked about.
You know how you're gonna sit him.
You know, he's a guy where why would you? You're not.
You don't sell this floor.
But what I would be worried about right now is last year, mixing started really slow.
Also, it wasn't until the second half of the season that mixing all of a sudden started lighting the world on fire.
And they had, like Jeff Driskel playing quarterback.
They had, I don't know, like some other guy, that I can't even think of his name right now.
They had a bunch of dudes that no one has ever heard of playing quarterback and mix and lit the world on fire.
He's going to come back around.
I think this offense is just getting into a new rhythm with borough and with the way he's playing, you can't take the ball out of his hands right now, for sure.
I mean, bro, it's not even just on the field, but off the field.
Anyone who's followed the Bengals Burrows Burrows. The real deal.
He's the next big thing, at least for new quarterbacks.
But that was really, really interesting.
It was a tear your hair out type of game to watch, but anyway, over three on betting lines on that game.
So that's actually the second game out of 26 matchups we've gone through, so it's still a good record there.
But we have another over three game here.
This was the Washington football team against the Browns, and I do single handedly.
I think that you can put this on Chase Young, leaving within seven minutes of the game.
Chase Young leads early in the game.
There's suddenly no pressure.
They get pressure on Baker that it was fascinating because the Washington defensive line isn't like a unit that should rely on one player.
They're stacked across the board, but they look bad once Chase Young with out of the game.
A lot of those guys were good.
They're really good players.
When you have a guy like Chase Young is a true difference maker defensively, it makes the offense shift their entire scheme towards him, and then that leaves a lot of one on one matchups defensively, and that's where you start seeing more of those.
Those run fits and you start seeing a little bit more of that, you know, to gap defense getting played.
Next thing you know, every hole is filled and no one's running anywhere.
Chase Young goes away.
Suddenly the whole field opens up.
Now you've got Baker's out there slinging it all over the yard.
You got Nick Chubb going for over 100 hunts catching touchdowns.
Things kind of came off the rails from there, but that team shouldn't be built around one player to your point.
But Chase Young leaving that early, The game definitely impacted the rest of the game, and the other thing I throw in is Dwayne Haskins hasn't looked good through three weeks now.
I was really hoping that he would make leaps in his second year because he finished the year off really strong last year, that defense, but he did, for sure.
But it was still like, All right, there's something here that he looks like he did in his first few starts last year.
It's It's almost like he regressed a little bit.
I don't know what that's all about.
I still have faith that he might be able to figure out how to be a competent average quarterback, but right now, he's not doing it for sure.
Competent and average.
Thanks for the follow in a banana.
Um, but anyway, missed on that one.
Another over three.
However, something with some good news. Good grief.
We're starting low, baby.
We're starting off with the total ****ing your pants moments for us, and then we're moving to some clean diapers afterwards.
We've had babies running around, so I'm stuck on a But this is another one.
So this is actually you went over three.
I went three for 30 Okay.
Uh, Niners Giants game.
Uh, and I think that I understand where you came from.
So Jeff is a diehard. I understand.
And the whole team's injured Nick Molins is in boast is out, like all their best players aren't playing.
And it made sense to just kind of ignored who the opponent was and think like, All right, this is gonna be a tough week for the 40 Niners, but they actually look better than they have all year.
Yeah, it was a weird Well, the second half is what really came together.
And we started to see Nick Mullins really throw it around the yard a little bit.
You know, Brandon, I you really hitting a bunch of those slave routes, Got a touchdown run.
I mean, if this is going to keep up mean you kind of watch out.
I mean, Mullins went for north of 300 we don't know how bad the Giants really are there. Oh, and three.
But they've played some pretty tough team.
I think we know that. They're bad.
Well, there they might be bad.
They were, I don't know, 9 20 minutes to find bad, like bottom tending well and bad to me is bottom 10.
I'm thinking the bottom third of the league, they're gonna be picking in the top 10 to 11 picks roughly.
I don't know if they were really in that group.
I think during that kind of that next group where they confound somewhere between you know, they're almost in playoff contention, but they're also top 10 contention like they could be in that window somewhere.
And the fact that Niners went out ahead of 36 to 9, this wasn't just a beating.
This was a drubbing.
And Nick Mullins, who is a fringe backup player like this, is not a guy where he was highly recruited or highly touted.
This is a guy that came out.
He looked OK in Shanahan's offense a couple years 3 43 43 40.
And he's out there hitting Brandon.
I you with darts like he's Steve Young or something.
And every time he caught one, I could just sit there and go e really feel like you know, these guys.
I mean, they're you know, they're like Ken and Rye, you and street fighter for our video game friends out there.
Yeah, they are just giving everybody roundhouse kicks right now.
It za dangerous out there.
We did bring up, though, like Mullins was a guy to watch.
Slaten had a decent game.
Jerry MacKinnon had a fine game.
Jeff Wilson was actually a surprise you had with six catches for 60 yards or something like that.
Well, you were telling me about when we went through the pick of the week, You know, I had to pick one guy, maybe take one.
But I said the whole 40 Niners back.
You had it was gonna be You're right, You're right there.
So, yeah, you did.
But I had to take the guy had you can't just, like, play the whole backfield in fantasy.
Unless you're nuts, leaks that you can.
It's also moving on next game.
We got one of these.
Correct On this is again like I I am somebody that believes in eating your humble pie when you need to.
And I've been really proud of how we've done all season.
So just a bad week so far, But I'm getting Fuller is a few more pies over here.
Here's the thing, though.
I will never be wrong against the Falcons again, because I will never pick them to win a game again.
I watched Stephen A.
Smith and I figured the other guy, but to die hard, Malcolm, it might have been telling you it was the other.
Uh, anyway, anyway, they were Both were like we're Vulcan stands and they've ruined our fan ship our whole life and we're out.
We're never picking them for anything ever again.
They were ahead of the curve.
This week is sure enough the Falcons went up 21 to 10 or something like that and then in the fourth quarter blew it again.
It is the most predictable thing in sports the Atlanta Falcons ruining games and I like to call their coach Dairy Quin, because his scheming is pretty. It's like milk.
It's just kind of bland.
But then, by the time the game ends, the milk curdles and it's ruined eso dairy Quin is I would be appalled if he still has a job.
And I was about to say, In dairy, Quin is more like churned butter right about that.
Pretty pretty, pretty thick right now.
Yeah, here's the thing that that office know Julio moved everybody up a notch, really showed that he could be a one like a legit one against Number one coverage.
And he was getting doubled up and he was still beating everybody down the field.
He looked great.
Russell Gauge was invisible, man.
We saw a little bit of Todd Gurley flash.
Um, he heard I started the week. Russell Gauge.
He got hurt in the fourth quarter to s o.
There's a few things that play with that defense has to get better, and I don't think it's gonna be on Dan Quinn.
I think we're gonna start seeing heads roll in the defensive staff.
Yeah, but Dan Quinn is a defensive coach, a coach.
You're not the guy running a given department in this case defense.
So when you look at it in that sense, I don't think Arthur Blank is gonna put his head coach in the hot seat, especially considering all the rough years they've had recently.
And he stood by him, stood by him, stood by him.
He was rewarded with a Super Bowl visit like they ain't going anywhere.
All I know is that you can polish a turd as long as you want, but in the end, it's still a turd.
It's wrapped in pencil.
Uh, next game, Tennessee at Minnesota.
We Interestingly, we picked in a seat, so we got this correct to for three.
In this game, however, we picked in a sea to cover the two point spread, They one by one.
So that was great.
Really exciting about that one.
Um, if you went with us on that, like, don't feel that that is just one of those things were here like, you know, whatever.
Well, I think a lot of people going that way.
I don't think I trusted Minnesota office.
And finally, we got some doubt on Justin Jefferson.
Yeah, just like finally was like all right, I guess I live up to expectations for once.
Well, he well exceeded expectations this week.
We did talk about Jefferson in the pregame show, and he was the guy that we mentioned.
Hey, look, he's finally beaten at old B.
Johnson for snaps and targets like he's the guy to keep an eye on.
And then he went absolutely ham sandwich out.
We did not predict what happened.
No, not predicted.
But we did this, the guy to keep an eye on, so definitely have those guys were talking about these guys in pregame.
If you can get on the bottom of your roster, you got to do.
It's a lot of these guys keep hitting, and the best thing to do in your fantasy league is be ahead of the fantasy curves, and you want to get out there and grab those guys that are gonna be next week's, you know, early waiver.
Exactly right now.
Best waiver claim is the guy that everyone wants next week, Um, said to start Corey Davis and John you, if you did your happy moving on to the next one did OK in this game is, well, Texans at Pittsburgh. We both.
Interestingly, we went for the under because we didn't expect Houston Houston toe carry their own weight, but they actually did. It was 21 28.
The over under was 46.
Total score was 49.
So again, like one of those close scenario, you can't get too upset about that.
But called Pittsburgh went in called Pittsburgh covering.
And my note for you.
If you're in i d.
I'm telling you, if you're listening to, I get a lot of my information from Jerry Van ****.
He's our i DP guy agreed on ratings, but there are certain, like I'm not going to bring up an I.
Player on this show unless it's not me coming up with the information.
That's me hearing the information and verifying it.
I'm not gonna pretend like I'm an I.
But before the games today, I'm pretty good at I d p A.
But I'm trying to be humble here.
But Michael Hilton I brought up today how he is playing, and you mentioned the Desmond King comparison from the past.
He is already on pace to be a Logan Ryan style 2019 version in the I. D. P Spectrum.
As of right now, unless Jamal Adams puts up a 25 point game, Mike Hilton will be the number one defense back in fantasy, scoring 33 weeks.
And he did it again today.
The guy had an interception.
He had seven tackles.
A forced fumble, I think a pass deflection.
I mean, he is being used like the He is the gesture on their defense right now.
And if he's still available, I think it's worth spending waiver.
Priority claim on him If you're in d be required leagues but forced you to play cornerbacks uh, moving on to the next game.
Oh, also just to throw out their Derrick Henry, citing he returned to form 120 yards right around there.
Well, so is Vegas.
So on the last two games we crushed it on these, but the Raiders versus the Patriots, we both were like, Take New England, you know, take the over, take them to cover the spread.
All three happens.
Um, interestingly, though it didn't really come from Camp, Kim had, like, an okay game.
Sony, you're not gonna be super happy for Blake Cam and fantasy this week, which I was surprised by s oniy Michelle.
Like, I would not have suggested a place Sony.
Um, I dropped him like a week ago.
Like this guy is back from the disaster.
Yeah. I mean, whatever.
I don't look into that.
I dropped in for James Robinson, though.
I mean, of course, I would much rather have James Robinson.
Sorry, Michelle or lots of other running backs.
But Adrian Phillips had a respectable game again.
At safety is the guy we brought up last week again.
He is somebody that he's sitting on waivers and urine.
I d p defense back required leagues.
And you look yeah, he is somebody you want to keep.
Especially because we're about to start getting into bye week season.
You need to have those back up players that you can slide in Mike Hilton.
You can start him every week. Adrian Phillips.
You could start every week, but he is particularly a great guy to slide in for buys.
Josh Jacobs did find Jacobs shake me up to be an absolute asset in fantasy This year.
He's getting a ton of work.
Well, with all the games missed by guys like McCaffrey, Barkley is gonna be, you know, obviously up for the year.
You know, we get a few of these other guys that are banged up continuously or in timeshares like it's possible to Jacobs, the top three top five running back when it's over.
I mean, he's just plowing ahead.
That's all he's doing.
He's got a couple catches here and there, and it's just enough.
And they're the regular service, hitching their wagon to him and letting him kind of told the way.
Yeah, last game was the Rams at Buffalo.
This was a nuts game.
I hope that you were able to watch it.
Yeah, Josh Allen is I.
He's just like, whatever You what? I keep saying this, and this is something I heard somewhere else.
So again, I'm just parroting it.
Whatever you feel, shout out the Bill Barnwell, who wrote this in one of his columns after Week one.
Whatever your opinion of Josh Allen is, you are correct.
He makes stupid decision.
He made great decisions. He's accurate.
He's in here. It doesn't matter.
He is the most ridiculously awesome player toe watch.
Play football right now in the NFL because it's you never know what's gonna happen.
If I could have if I could have gotten a good grip. My hair is kind of short.
I could've gotten a good grip on it.
I would have ripped it all out watching that game, trying to give the game away like seven times in the last four years, believing he plays Rose like trying to give it away trying to get away.
And he fumbled up.
You got a penalty and he was getting bailed out by, like, ridiculously bad decisions.
But they worked, and it's like I don't know if it hurts having a horseshoe jammed right up your backside, the way he's got it.
But this guy is the luckiest dude I've ever seen in my life, and you know, I don't know.
I count on that.
I love it for fantasy because just piles numbers but good grief from a Bills fan.
I'm like I've got nine on one like readYto.
It's end because I'm kind of a heart attack. Any given way.
Credit to Jeff, though. This is the game.
I disagreed with Jeff on his take.
He picked Buffalo to win.
We both Hey, picked Buffalo to win and Buffalo to cover.
I went with the Rams, and part of that is being a Seahawks fan.
I just wanted all the NFC West teams to continue to win because it's more fun when you finally beat him.
But he just hates Josh Allen more than most people.
That's the opposite i e.
I brought up Troy Hill again, going into I D P. Troy Hill.
Seven tackles put up 17 points in most scoring settings.
You just slide in right now D v and he gives you a good floor.
He's not really a guy that's given you a ton of game winning plays, but if you're struggling for depth and you need a guy to slot in Troy Hill opposite to Jalen Ramsey, opposing quarterbacks were thrown at him as much as they can.
Uh, that was pretty much you called out.
They have a big game about singular.
You singularly called out Devin Singletary E.
That was a no brainer with Moss being out.
And I just feel like there's a lot of times people missed. Kind of the obvious.
Where to go Mosses out.
You don't think about What does that mean? Well, obviously, that means somebody still getting those touches the bills love to run the football.
So there's that, um we just a recap to We were talking about the jets in India.
The Jets are actually playing really well right now.
It's just the first quarter, but I'm pretty shocked by that, uh, terms would Who is that? Oh, shock.
Um, Tom Brady we mentioned at the beginning to show having a hell of a day.
Right now we're expecting Big Tom Brady breaking um, Kyler.
Murray has been actually kind of back and forth.
He threw a pick on his first drive them through an incredible touchdown.
The house on the second.
I expect him toe continue.
More of the latter is no.
But if you're gonna watch football right now, out of all the games that our game of the week was the Seahawks Cowboys game and it has been incredible so far must kick return safety.
Afterwards, D K.
Metcalf decided to celebrate early ball gets popped out.
It's been an absolute cluster bomb of awesomeness and stupidity, and I am all about people are gonna think that we only are like a Seahawks show.
Csere always on our game of the week.
But here's the thing.
The Seahawks are kind of what the Ravens were last year.
There must see TV because they're on and you've gotta watch them because Russ looks great.
The defense is shaky, so that means there's a potential for shootout any given week.
Chris Carson's played really well.
You got a couple wide receivers.
Couple wildly veterans like Greg Olsen.
There's just a lot happening on that deep well, in their events.
Rather their their opening schedule was Falcons.
Tell you what, They're not gonna be the game of the week next week and they play the Dolphins.
But that opening slate, I mean, you could have argued that game of the week, three weeks in a row involved them, and it really comes back to how terrible their defense is.
And the offense is that they're going up against, Um, just a note for tonight.
Do you think Monty Adams plays or not? I am not a doctor.
I'm gonna go without a doctor.
I'm gonna go with the place.
If I got you a Dr Pepper, would you feel more confident? I would not shout out to our sponsor, Dr Pepper.
Appreciate everything you give to us, Not our sponsor.
Talking about things is what I just wanted to remember.
If you're listening, we are accepting sponsors s.
I brought that up because I actually have to Mark Adams in two different leaks.
Not starting him, not planning on it. At least.
Andi, even if he plays, if it's a like last minute slot in, I still would be kind of hesitant playing the fact that this team is basically even pushing back a decision as long as they can.
And the verb Ege that Matt Lafleur used was like, we're going to give him a chance to prove that he's healthy enough to play at game time.
So, like, now I'm out.
It's gonna be at the M V S L Mazar show.
And I think that if you're taking between the two upside goes to MBS.
He's a better player.
Um, that are deep threat.
So on and so forth.
But I think the floor, actually I would get the r e came drum or targets.
Be happy playing neither of them if one of the things that will be a factor Yeah, we have the big Erin Jones break out loud.
Yeah, I hope it.
Zyazikov are, uh, the rookie half full back.
Give me some J. Sternberg.
I've been waiting for J's to get back on What? A collection of names for titans.
Stern burger into guara.
Sternberg. Sounds like a guy that played in the sixties.
Man calling the cheeseburger baby.
We apologize for continually looking over here.
That's weird way trying to keep up with things as we're talking to you.
But I think that's really a wrap of what we've got here.
So we're gonna be back on Monday night. Yeah.
We'll be back on tomorrow night for review and a waiver show to get you ahead of the curve a little bit on waivers.
Um, and I think that's pretty much it again.
Our Twitter is at gridiron rating with no s.
I'm on Twitter at Ronnie a Evans R O N and I e.
People who spell the name R O N and y are good people, but you spell your name wrong on then s, um, Jeff is at NFL underscore Di Matteo, and that's pretty much it.
The only other thing I threw out there is we will be back on this channel, I believe tomorrow morning around nine or 10 a.
I'll be on with Gary Van ****.
Guy? That kind of runs the show for us on our website there.
On that end, I'm excited to hop on with him.
It'll be my first time talking with him, but he and I are both pretty heavily invested in 90 p, and I am going to push his buttons a little bit.
So what I will be doing is trying to bring up debates on different players because Gary is a fun guy.
He's pretty passionate with his digs.
He's usually pretty pretty on spot with him as well.
And I learned a lot from him.
So tune in tomorrow morning if you're available.
If you're at work, tune in.
Still on through on your headphones.
Nobody wants to work anyway.
Have a great Sunday. See you tomorrow night.
