Hello, everyone and welcome in its f p C NFL today.
And I don't know why I said that because that's not what we ever called the show.
It changes every single time to get on here.
It is week three. It it's Sunday.
We have a jam packed slate of games.
Of course, we will mention a little bit the game coming up on Monday.
But it's all about Sunday here.
I'm in Glendon and, of course, joined by, uh, Brandon Hollas check.
And if you look at the back of his wall, I mean, it is just pure just chiefs love going on back there.
I think he painted it, um, specifically for that.
And, um, I write Brayden.
Yeah, I think so.
It was It was quite a long time ago, but that's that's what the plan was all along.
Okay, so I'm not I'm not just talking out my ass here.
That that's actually true. Okay.
Um, I don't blame you.
Don't blame it on.
You know, Z I I If I owned a house, I would certainly, uh, do whatever the hell I wanted to the walls.
And, you know, do all that stuff.
Maybe paint a bureau something to Tom Brady here.
So something like that.
But I'm not really that artistic.
Uh, like I said, we gotta We gotta jam packed, uh, line up here today because, okay, it's week three were just carrying through the season.
We're starting to see ah, little bit who some of these teams are.
I think we have a pretty good idea of teams like the Chiefs and, of course, that the Ravens and some of the better teams.
But I think we're starting to get a little bit clearer idea and certainly not the whole picture of some of these teams.
I'll ask you real quick when it comes.
You know, the Saints are big topic of conversation.
We're just gonna jump right into the Saints here real quick cause they got a big game coming up this week against Green Bay.
So that's gonna be fun at Sunday Night football.
Kind of starting backwards and working our way to the one o'clock games here.
Uh, I've kind of been on the Drew Brees.
Obviously, I think has shown mawr signs of age than people would would like to admit and not just in the last couple weeks.
We've seen people start to really harp on it the last couple of weeks.
Um, I've been talking about this for the last like season or so, and I think we're really starting to see it.
All the signs in the offseason pointed, or at least made it seem like he was leaning towards retirement.
And if you believe some of the other reports that have come out over the last couple of weeks about the Saints interest in Tom Brady and Sean Payton's need to talk groupies into coming back this season, I think his play makes more sense.
Um, are you concerned for the Saints and Drew Brees? Do you think this is a trend and and or is it just, you know, early in the season we're gonna forget about in a couple weeks? Yeah, I think it's It's a little bit of a trend because we saw some of this late last season as well.
Um, and it just looks like, you know, Monday night, uh, it wasn't even really anything special that the Raiders were doing.
It was just they were not able to connect very easily.
There was a lot of throws that were behind receivers or just off target.
So I think this is a trend that's going to continue tonight is gonna be an interesting matchup because of the the cornerbacks that Green Bay has and my time is still not being there.
So overall, I mean, I don't want to overreact too much based off Monday night, but this is obviously like you said, a big game for New Orleans.
If they can't get it right tonight, they're going to kind of be having to dig out of their own hole soon.
Now, in this matchup, I mean, it's it's funny you think of a matchup between Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees.
You have normally have guys like Michael Thomas, Davante Adams, but this game might come down to the two running backs.
And you're talking about Aaron Jones and Alvin Kamara.
Um, Erin Jones has been phenomenal.
Alvin Kamara is Alvin Kamara, who you taken in this matchup.
Who do you feel more comfortable and basically, Who do you think they have the bigger game tonight? That's kind of tough, because Mike Buttons defense's have kind of been allergic to stop in the run before, But I think Erin Jones is the guy I would count.
Uh, count on more in this situation just because I think right now he's in a good role where they're not really over using him too much.
They're kind of sparing John.
Normally in this situation, I I take the opportunity to take a, you know, subtle little potshot at Aaron Rodgers and say, Oh, Erin Jones is the best Aaron on the Packers.
I'm not going to do that because I I think Aaron Rodgers is playing phenomenally.
And if I had to choose sides here in this debate, I'm going Aaron Rodgers over true breeze all the time.
I know Kyle will appreciate that. I believe he's in that.
Yet there he is in the chat room on Sports Caster.
I know he's going thio.
He's gonna appreciate that, but, uh, no.
Look, Aaron Rodgers is playing great.
Drew Brees isn't no Michael Thomas.
What? What was the word? And maybe Kyle Maybe you can answer this for me.
And this is something I haven't seen yet.
I know he was moving towards doubtful for this matchup.
Um, I don't know if that's confirmed.
Maybe Kyle can kinda.
Maybe that's something we're gonna have to wait till later tonight.
But it seems like it's looking like he may not play either.
So, yeah, I think they were going to try to give him all the time that he could have just try to prove himself.
But I don't think there's anything really set in stone yet.
Yeah, And so there you go.
Now it really becomes more about the running backs.
And again, I think, if you know the running backs, you could go either way.
But at the same time, then you go up to the quarterbacks and I think it's a slam dunk in the in favor of the Packers.
So, um, I pick the packers to win this game.
I think they will.
I do think the Saints, I I I think the saints are gonna miss um, Michael Thomas more than the Packers will miss Davante Adams.
I think Aaron Rodgers can elevate the the other guys around him.
I don't know if Drew Brees can necessarily do that.
Uh, not without having Michael Thomas there.
Um, he does a lot obviously being able to catch a lot of short passes and create yards after the catch and just use his abilities to to make big plays.
And without that, there it z kind of tough when you know we've seen it.
I mean, his You talk about alert, Mike Patton, be defense is allergic to stopping the run.
I mean, it looks like Drew Brees is allergic to throw the ball past 10 yards.
And normally I'm not someone who harps on, uh, you know, everyone kind of tries to nitpick.
Oh, well, his yards per attempt is Is this that and the other? Now, this is an issue when you through two games have really not done that whatsoever.
And eventually teams really good defensive teams.
They're just gonna load the box and be like, Look, Michael Thomas may beat us once or twice, but other than that, you like your chance of stopping a team that can't push the ball in the air past 10 yards.
So, um, I think the saints are and you know, this could this could, you know, start to really get out of control for the Saints after this week because I think they're gonna lose pretty big.
Yeah, and especially when you consider whenever Breeze does retire? The fact that it's happening soon and just kind of how they're locked up right now with the salary cap.
I mean, they're kind of screwed if they don't win the Super Bowl, so it za tough spot to be in for sure.
Well, for now, look fortunately for them and say what you want about Jamis Winston adult Least they have a guy that could potentially.
Now, look, he's not gonna be as much as I'll knock Drew Brees.
You know, I don't think Jamis Winston is and in the same caliber.
Certainly not yet.
I mean, he has the arm talent.
He has the, you know, the ability to throw the ball now would see if that translates the winds and all that stuff.
But at least they have something.
And no, I'm not considering Taysom Hill an option at quarterback, but yeah, I just I don't know.
I like at first I thought Okay, you know, maybe maybe Drew could make it through this season.
I I had my doubts again.
I thought the five games he missed last year Thio injury Did a lot of you know, did a lot of good for him because it saved him.
Um, and and of course, the Saints were able Thio win all the games.
Um, so I I you know, unless that happens again this year, Um, and even if it does, I don't think, um, because if he's showing these signs early in the season, that's that's alarming.
Uh, if it's towards the end of the season, a t least that's something you can manage.
And you know, to that point, obviously, you would assume he would have had a pretty solid season.
But this is happening in week one week to, um, you know, with a team that many expected toe have advantage in this weird off season because of the familiarity and the, you know, the consistency across the board.
So, um, yeah, I actually coincide.
I haven't had a chance that Kyle says I basically said everything in just said on the last backwards podcast.
I assure you, I have not.
I actually have not, and I'm ashamed to admit it.
I have not listened to it yet.
You know, I've been dealing with a lot of car stuff the last week, so I've been preoccupied.
But you know the like.
Minds think alike.
So I don't know if you want to give a score, Brandon, but I've already done this on FBC Radio Live on Friday.
Okay, but I have the Packers winning 34 to 24 that 24 points for the Saints is deceiving.
I think it's points added kind of in garbage time.
So I do think that this is gonna be a lot, uh, more of a one sided affair than the score Kind of indicates.
So, yeah, I think in my family league, I think I said, like 31 to 28 Green Bay, so that might be a little too close.
But, um, again, it's just gonna be interesting to see if Camara can kind of keep them in the game like you said.
But yeah, I do like the Packers Thio pull it out tonight.
Yeah, I mean, look, I'm hoping for a good game.
I love really good games on Sunday Night football, and, you know, in years past, I would.
That's a marquee matchup in the NFC, so we'll see. Maybe I'm wrong.
Hopefully, you know that happens quite a bit.
So which is looking my fantasy team. Its's.
I don't even want to get into that.
Speaking of fantasy, though, before we get into any of the other games we have a pretty jam packed day here on SportsCastr on on FB.
See, obviously we're on there now.
Previewing week three, uh, immediately following us.
We got our buddy tile.
They're gonna be hosting R F P C fantasy show.
I think we got all the kinks worked out.
Um, if you want to tune into that, of course, if you're a big wrestling fan, Class of champions tonight Boot to the face at 11. 30.
About hour and a half from now, two hours or no hour, hour and 15 minutes.
I have no idea what time it is.
I'm just guessing right now.
Um, but it will not be on this channel, of course, because the fantasy show will be going on.
You can if you wanna watch the wrestling show.
If you wanna watch both, we would appreciate that.
Ah, hop over to the SportsCastr dot com slash pc wrestling page and you'll be able to see that tune in and join the fun with the guys over a boot. to the face.
So that's pretty cool.
And, uh, of course, if you're Chief's fan, if you're a Patriots fan and if you're a fan of some of the other teams that we have, uh, products in apparel available, go to full press shop dot com and use code Week three to save 15% today only.
Folks, Come on, get a great shirt.
I'm wearing one right now.
I have my Newton Edelman election t shirt coming.
We got Guess what? We got some homes and Kelsey ones there.
So we got some cheese fans.
You gotta You gotta order Got order? Week 3 15% off.
All right, enough with the shameless plugs.
Let's let's let's get back into it.
Um, another game that that jumps out to me, obviously.
And this is something we talked about off there.
We'll get dive right into it.
We have New England hosting Las Vegas now.
Two very intriguing teams.
Um, I think, um, Mike Debate and I have talked about the Raiders prior to this season.
We both kind of had some higher hopes.
Oh, our expectations for this team.
I think they did show some signs last year despite some situations, Obviously, with you know, mainly Antonio Brown and the like.
So they've shown some pretty good things through the first two weeks.
The Patriots, obviously.
You know, the first season post Tom Brady.
What do they look like with Cam Newton? Well, you know, if if you're the Buffalo Bills, if you're the rest of the A f c East, you're probably sitting there thinking, man, I I hope this is just a hot start that they just kind of simmer down because they don't look too dissimilar from the team that we've seen over the past, you know, several years or so.
Um, first off, I mean, what do you think of the Raiders? Do you think this is sustainable? Obviously, you you think about them a lot.
Being in the A, F C West and covering the Kansas City Chiefs.
Uh, I don't think that there are a threat to chiefs in that division, but they could play spoiler at some point down the road.
And, uh, you know, grow from there, right? I I actually really like what they've done with their roster construction in recent drafts, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
adding Max Crosby up front.
I know Terry Biggs.
He was kind of high on him coming out of Eastern, uh, Eastern Michigan.
So you know, so far, he's been a guy that I really wish wasn't in this division.
Um, if they're a car, obviously can keep producing the way he is.
That's probably the biggest question going forward, because right now he's taking shots down the field.
He's not holding onto the ball.
Ah, long time in the pocket like we've seen before.
And, of course, when you have the mix of that running game, which Jon Gruden, you know, really seems to like toe have, um, they're gonna always gonna have that balance attack where defense's aren't always going to know what they're going to do.
So I think overall, they if their car can continue to play like he is so far they're goingto be challenging.
Probably for a wild card spot.
Yeah, and and that's the thing with seven teams entering the playoffs.
*****, you're all of a sudden, uh, you know, the chances for teams like the Raiders become, you know, a little bit better.
And look, I mean, I like I said, I don't think that they're gonna win the NFC West, but, you know, you know, maybe finish a few games we have the chiefs.
Again it it really depends on Derek Carr.
I mean, if their car has a good season, all of a sudden, this Raiders team looks a lot better, and then you go back and think, Well, you know, Matt, that could have been now they styled injuries last year that that kind of slowed them down and really hurt them.
Um, but at the same time, you know, you you think about what it could be in kind of the direction that's going and you're like, All right, well, if you're a Raiders fan, you're like, all right.
The Las Vegas era has been off to a pretty, pretty decent start.
Now on the other side, we have Cam Newton, a player who went unsigned for a vast majority of the off season and ultimately side a bargain ba*****t deal with the doing of patriots.
And all of a sudden he looks like 18 4015.
Uh, what do you make of it? Do you? I mean, again, I as a Patriots fan, and I certainly never shied away from that.
I always want to keep that out there so people know where I'm coming from.
But, um, I I was concerned about the health.
You know, you missed majority of last season, but I really just didn't know what to make of Cam.
And I'll tell you what, In in two weeks, I I've I've completely I'm you know, team camp, Super can all all that stuff.
I love what he brings to the table.
I love the the leadership.
And this is again much.
Unlike the Boston media, this is not a knock on Tom Brady because he did the same things.
But when you're shifting from a you know who I consider in a lot of people consider the greatest quarterback of all time or just any Hall of Fame quarterback that has led your franchise for so long.
Uh, you would love to fall back and have Cam Newton as your as your next as your successor.
And I think the Patriots are showing are at least showing the NFL that there around to stay despite their losses at quarterback and all that So what do you make of Cam Newton start? And you know, Are they Were they in the hierarchy of the A F.
C right now? Because I do think it's a hard place toe to peg them.
Certainly this point in the season, Um, I think just overall in Cam Newton.
I think one thing that's awesome for the Patriots sake is the fact that they're able to do so many different things with them.
I think I heard Tony Romo talking Week one when they played Miami that, you know, this is just when they were running the football lot with Pam.
This is kind of just what you have installed right now.
The fact that they can open so many things up and he looks comfortable.
Hey, looks confident right now.
Watching that game in Seattle last week.
He's throwing the ball the best.
He's throwing the ball.
Looks like in a few years or so.
I mean again, I think I said going into Week one, the fact that I think he's been doubted and he's kind of ****ed a little bit, that's the edge that he's always going to have this season and that just makes New England better.
And I don't know, really.
It's hard to hard to say, Really, Where to put him in the A f.
I'd probably put him, uh, I'd probably put him at least third or fourth.
If they're not above Buffalo, I'd probably say for it, because I just don't think right now, um, anybody else in the a f C South that would put above them or buffalo so I'd say third or fourth kind of just depends, uh, on those said that had matchups later in the season.
Yeah, and and, you know, throw Pittsburgh in the mix because, you know, they have, you know, really good defense.
And if you know Ben Roethlisberger stays healthy there there obviously better than they were last year.
Uh, you look, I'm with you, obviously, for, you know, for for nearly 15 straight years, you could go into the season, look at the Patriots and Tom Brady and say, Alright, 12 and four divisional round appearance, at the very least, likely championship around appearance.
They're going to the Super Bowl, and that was it.
I mean, and that's a safe bet.
You could shock it up, and it was kind of I don't want to say the term boring, but you know, when it comes to predictions and you know, kind of seeing where they are and they FC that it kind of was It was like, Okay, it was that and they would get one of the top two seeds.
Okay, that's what we know.
There's no, you know, anything Other than that, it's just just a hot taken and whatever.
So I'm with you.
I I just don't know, and you know more.
So I have a better feeling now than I did going into, you know, from the off season again at the time, to Cam Newton had just arrived.
There were thoughts of Jared said they were gonna take over.
I don't really know who he is yet.
That's not a knock on him.
It's just we don't know.
We haven't seen him in game action.
But look, despite the losses on defense, you're seeing guys like Kyle Duggar stuck up, step up and fill the roles left by Patrick Chung.
And, uh, you know, not having Dont'a Hightower is key, and that's gonna hurt them at some point down the road.
They're gonna have struggles against teams where normally Dont'a Hightower would be that guy.
But a lot of this is I'm not going to say negated, but top five Top 10 quarterback, at least one that's playing at a very high level right now.
And like you said, this isn't about, you know, and I've asked.
I've heard this question asked.
Are they better with Cam than Tom? It's a It's a difficult question.
It's It's kind of Ah ah, cheap question, in my opinion, because I think they're different and you mentioned it.
They can do different things on offense and the fact that they have a younger trending offense.
You know, Nikkila, Harry Jacoby Meyers.
Obviously, they're in a position where they have to rely more on draft picks because of, uh, you know, obviously their cap situation going into the season.
That doesn't really necessarily work with a 43 year old quarterback that has one or two seasons or two seasons left.
In my opinion, um, to win a Super Bowl and it's it's not a knock on Tom.
It's not a knock on these young guys.
It's just there's not enough time to develop it.
That's why a veteran team with veteran receivers and a established offensive group better suits Tom I. E.
Tampa Bay Having can hear you can rely more.
And I think I saw the percentage that he or he accounted for 400 some odd yards of the Patriots 400 something total yards that they had against, um, last week against Seattle.
And that's something that Tom obviously can't run the ball.
And you know, his scramble ability is is there is none when it comes to the type of place that can can create.
And those work better with a team that has younger receivers that have a little bit more athletic receivers that don't necessarily understand the day to day grind of the NFL.
And you know so to me, I think it's a it's kind of Ah, it's a different question.
I think the Patriots are certainly better than I would have ever imagined.
Post Tom Brady immediately post Tom Brady.
So it's gonna be interesting to see I have them beating Las Vegas.
Uh, tonight or today, this afternoon, Rather, um, in a pretty a pretty entertaining game.
I think it's gonna be high scoring I think we're gonna Seymour can through the air because all the good things we say about the Raiders that pass defense is, uh, let's just say it's it.
It leaves much to be desired.
So speaking of passing, you know this through two weeks, the NFL has just absolutely just blowing out every record that they have offensively.
And this is a trend we've seen forever.
Um, most points most touchdowns.
Uh, 11 quarter or I'm sorry, 13 quarterbacks with over 100 passer rating through two weeks, which is by far record e mean again.
Look, I mean, it's it's the way the game has been trending for several years.
It's very much mawr, uh, the favorable towards the offense.
It creates a lot of opportunities for players quarterbacks in particular to, you know, throw a high volume number of of passing yards and so on and so forth.
Uh, are you okay? I gotta ask you Are you are you pro hyped? Like I know, obviously the chiefs were involved in this game, so there may be some bias to to that.
But the Rams chiefs came from two years ago.
The big 55 to 50 whatever.
I mean, whatever the final score was, it doesn't matter.
There's a Brazilian points.
It was back and forth.
Defense was optional.
Are you pro that style? Are you mawr defensive or do you want a good balance of both? Because I do think that there is a need for a balance, because I I enjoyed that game.
But I wasn't, you know, on the greatest game of the century, uh, trade that a lot of people were at following that game.
Yeah, I'd probably say good balance of both.
I'd probably lean more, is an offensive guy, but I just especially living where I do.
I don't necessarily love watching the Big 12 every week, so that style kinda gets old.
So I'd say more of like, ah, good mix of A, C, C or SEC football if that makes sense for people where there's a good enough amount of points.
But it's not too little or too much.
Yeah, I know I'm with you.
Like I said, I mean, if you're gonna ask, I mean, yeah, I'll probably lean a little more offensive, but not like to me, I just like like if you ever play Madden you play like all rookie mode.
I don't know, under understand how people do that Because, like, if all I could do is just press like two buttons and score every time, I would just get so bored that I do would wouldn't even make it through the game that that day is not entertaining.
I think that translates, um, you know, into real life football, too.
So, yeah, we're on the same page there, but I like I said, it all depends.
Uh, I understand why people like to shoot out.
We're going to Seymour of those.
I mean, let's that let's be really we're going to see more and more of those.
As you know, these rules continue to evolve in these offenses, you know, all of a sudden instead, out of those elements being just, you know, carried over directly from college.
So you're going to see a lot of younger guys get off the hotter starts, um, and and and put up big numbers because again, that this is where the league's trending.
So All right, So anyways, speaking of ah, non, right.
Well, right now, I wouldn't consider them an offensive powerhouse, but going into this season.
They were a defense of powerhouse.
And that was the San Francisco 40 Niners.
Uh, no one got hurt Mawr.
And you know that word hurt has a double meaning because no one got hurt mawr, uh, during week to than the San Francisco 40 Niners and there was a lot of injuries last week.
It was kind of the trend for week two, and the 40 Niners suffered four big injuries.
They're gonna be without three of their players today, two of which are gonna be done for the season.
How did the 40 Niners recover? Because we're not just talking about depth players.
We're not talking about pretty good players.
We're talking about Joey Bosa.
I mean, Nick Bosa.
Sorry, we're talking about Jimmy Garoppolo, the starting quarterback.
We're talking about Solomon Thomas, a former top 10 overall pick.
How did the 40 Niners rebound from this? You know, in a season following ah year, they went to the Super Bowl? Yeah, I think it all comes down to me for coaching from Kyle Shanahan and just the system that Iran's, I think.
But I hope they don't have the lead then e I mean, I just That's a good point to, but yeah, being able to run the football.
I think they love their depth there, At least a Nick Molins.
We saw him what two years ago, I think, start about 10 10 or so games.
So he's he's shown he can battle before, or at least keep a minute.
So, um, I just think defensively, it's interesting because before Bosa and Thomas went down, I mean, they really weren't playing at the level they were at the end of last year, which, you know, kind of makes a little bit of sense seeing the off season we did.
But you know, that's that's the biggest question to me is their defense.
And looking at this division, I at least early on it looks like I was a little run on the Rams, who are off to a good start.
It looks like McVeigh's at the top of his game, and then you have Arizona at to know, so that's just it's a tough division to be in where they're at right now.
With those injuries well, fortunately, after last week's, uh, match up with the Jets, they have a nice another soft landing with the New York Giants, who, you know, were another team that got hit hard by the injury injury train last week because, say, Guan Barkley is obviously out for the season.
So, um, I still have San Francisco winning this game.
It it will be interesting to see.
I wonder how long Jimmy Garoppolo is gonna be out.
Um, you know, again, they're not getting both or Thomas back, so that that is something that they have to move on from and, you know, hopefully maybe figure it out.
Maybe, just, you know, reinvent themselves.
But like you said, I mean, it's tough.
How can you do it when you have? The two other teams in your division are also to know.
And you know, one team is being led by who? I think a lot of people consider that the early M V P frontrunner and Russell Wilson and then the other team Well, you know, they just have Larry Fitzgerald, you know, DeAndre Hopkins, Kyler Murray, and you know Chandler Jones on dif a U s.
So it's gonna be tough and and I think I originally going into the season, pick three teams from that division to make the playoffs.
Um, I still think there's a chance for 49 for the 40.
Niners don't want to write them off just yet.
I do want need to see how they kind of evolve over the next couple of weeks, and then we'll have a better idea because you never know.
Sometimes these things, some kind of spur, a little bit of a spur of a little bit of a run.
So do you have any faith in the Houston Texans? I know I like at all.
I would say it's higher just because of the Shawn Watson, but not really.
E Think Bill O Brien kind of negates that goodwill.
Um, I actually have them winning against Pittsburgh, but out of just sheer dumb luck, and I kind of explain this a little bit on Friday, um, you know, obviously, I don't think that they're going to go defeated for the whole season.
Um, I think they are talented enoughto win some big games, and fortunately for them, this is a one oclock on a Sunday afternoon.
So it's not Sunday Night football.
It's not Thursday Night football.
It's not Monday Night Football.
Um, they're good.
It's not a playoff game.
They'll they'll be fine.
I think they pulled this one out of their rear ends.
And But, yeah, you just at the end of the day, though.
And I've said this so many times and I've said it Thio, nausea, Thio to exhaustion.
Let's put it that way since last playoff that I will never, ever, ever believe in the Texans until they are hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.
I don't care if they come within one inch of winning the trophy.
If they fail, I will still not believe in them because, well, they failed me so many times.
Um, let's see another couple.
I don't I'm not getting too excited about the Rams just yet.
I didn't think that they were going to be that great of a team going into the season.
Um, eso I'm still not sold on him, but this is going to be a pretty big ass between 22 and no team this week.
Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams Um, I like the Bills a lot.
Josh Allen so far has shown a lot of good things in the first two weeks and That was obviously the biggest concern for me going into the season.
We know about the defense.
We know Stefon Diggs will make the pieces around him better.
Uh, Ken, Josh Allen be better? Well, so far he has been Can he keep it up? That's, you know, that's the question, you know? Can he do it? Um, not against the Dolphins and the and the Jets.
You know, we'll see.
We'll find out I'm not, you know, necessary saying you can't.
But you know, two weeks doesn't do squat if you know you're playing poorly at the in the season.
But I think this is a big test for both teams.
Um, I have Buffalo winning 21 14 because I do.
I really do believe in their defense.
I think it's one of the best in the league.
Uh, and again, maybe it's part of me that just still wants to believe that the Rams aren't a good team.
I have them losing, but I do think it's gonna be a good team, a good game.
Um, I'm willing to change my opinion on the Rams if they continue to play well.
But so far I'm I'm hesitant to give them not.
So what do you think? Who do you think has the edge of this? I think it's, uh, I like your low score there just because so far, the Rams defense.
That's what's really surprised me the most about them.
I believe their new defensive coordinator.
He's kind of come out of nowhere.
Um, that was that was kind of the area, especially in the front seven.
You know, Sands Aaron, Donald that I was really worried about for them.
So I think this is gonna be a defensive battle.
Um, and I think overall, what I like more about Buffalo is just the fact I think they're secondary is going to kind of limit more big place than maybe the Rams.
Well, so I think that's where I would lean buffaloes edge.
Um, those Those guys have played a long time together.
Now Micah Hyde and Jordan, player on the back end, and Troy Davis White, one of the best young corners in the game.
So I kind of lean on that secondary for the bills to get this one today.
Yeah, Like I said, I'm right there with you.
I think I'm or I have more faith.
Excuse me in the Rams defense, and I do the offense, you know, but Jared Goths credit.
He's playing good football right now, so I'm not gonna knock him for that.
And you know what? Sometimes you just have a bad season.
You know, sometimes you just you know, things don't go your way.
And maybe that was the case with golf.
So, uh so, yeah, low scoring.
I do think it will be a good game, though.
I, uh, uh, like, yeah.
I mean, if if if there's a team that has fallen so far from contender status, it's got to be the Eagles and I don't think it's getting any better.
I think Carson Wentz has regressed horribly.
I mean, and And this isn't just a matter of bad play, but we've seen it a lot on people running film on him.
His footwork is just awful.
Um, he's he's making throws that like I would make in my backyard.
And I've never played quarterback in my entire life.
Um, but, you know, open.
You know, his open body across the field.
You know, uh, there was one throw.
They highlighted where he was essentially doing a A stretch, you know, hit the distance between his front foot in his back foot was probably about 3 ft and like that, you know, again when you're when you're trying to throw and it resulted in interception in the end zone.
So when you're trying to play quarterback and your mechanics or so terrible, that's, you know, that's just a recipe for disaster, and I don't think it's getting any better for the Eagles. I think they've.
I think the honeymoon with Doug Peterson has worn off a little bit.
I think people are starting to see that.
Yeah, you know, he is just because you want a Super Bowl.
It means it doesn't mean he can't make mistakes.
And that happened.
That happens with a lot of coaches, you know, You want a Super Bowl, especially, you know, if you're young or you do that, you kind of get this.
Oh, you know, you know, a little deflections shield around you, and then that that zone knock on them.
It's just it's just how things work when you cover the sport.
Yeah, I think that's worn off a little bit, so I think he's getting criticized Mawr.
So when you're getting criticized, how do you respond to that? And I don't think he's necessarily done a great job of that.
So again, I think it's just a bad situation from Philadelphia, and I think there quickly, quickly, uh, gonna be out of the playoffs.
But again, I think this is just trending very poorly, and this is a bad division to I mean, that's the thing to like.
This is a bad division, and I put them maybe on par with the Giants right now.
That Z saying a lot.
Yeah, And it's interesting because I think I listen to something earlier this week and Peterson was asked, You know what's what's going on with Carson Wentz? And I think his answer is something like, That's a good question to success for Philadelphia and, you know, injuries community, a big part of their situation there to jail on Rikers, out for at least probably a couple months.
Um, I believe the shot Jackson missed in practice time this week.
So it's just, you know, the spots.
They've been hurt at the most with the injuries continue to be there, and I mean, I I would not rule out Cincinnati somehow winning this game today.
Um, they've been close the first couple of weeks, and it's just it's always interesting to see how Philly fans react.
I guess I'll give it to him that, you know, there never, um, never homers.
But it's it could be, Ah, bigger meltdown today than last week was, if once continues to play the way he does.
Well, see, I actually have Cincinnati winning this game.
I have him winning 28 to 13 because I, like I said, I'm going all in on the the the implosion that's happening in Philadelphia. I'm not.
I'm not rooting for it. I'm just again.
I'm looking at it.
I'm seeing what I think is going to happen.
What I think is gonna happen is I think this is going to keep the ship is going to keep sinking in Philadelphia, because again, I just don't.
I don't see how they can fix the issues that they have in time and and, yeah, maybe I'll Shaun.
Geoffrey eventually gets back, But even if he is back and DeSean Jackson comes, can we trust just John Jackson to stay healthy I may see he missed all of last season.
Um, he's what? How? Well, he's 31 32 now.
I mean, he's, he's he's at that point now where it's like, Okay, you know, his his biggest advantage is his speed, because with his speed, he can separate.
And when he can separate, he uses his great hands to catch anything that comes in his direction.
Well, if he can't separate, he can't get us fast. Teoh.
You know what he used to be? That's That's not gonna work, especially when you have a quarterback that's not putting the ball where it needs to be.
At least if you could outrun everyone, you can run to the ball and whatever.
So, um, I think it's going to keep going.
I think they're going to drop the on three, and I think Cincinnati, who again have shown, showed some some pretty good things.
I don't think anyone expects them to go out and win a division or be above 500 but I I kind of thought that Joe Burrows and he still could possibly have a pretty relatively good offensive season.
I I you know, people look at and I predicted going into the year that he was going to throw the most touchdowns and passing yards of a rookie ever.
And again, that's part of that's, you know, speaking to his ability, Thea other parts just kind of speaking like we started the show of talking about the nature of how the game's going, so just because he does that doesn't mean this is the greatest work e season ever or anything like that.
It just means, you know, he has the ability to do so and I think he will.
And I think the numbers are fairly reasonable.
Baker, Mayfield 27 touchdowns I believe and Andrew Luck just over 4000 yards passing.
So you know it's not that crazy to think he could do that, especially if a guy like A J.
Green stays healthy all year, which that's a That's a big If.
I do think that they get their first win this year against Philadelphia and that, like you said, it's gonna make for an interesting, uh, interesting reaction from the Philly fans.
Because again, I I think Cincinnati's you know, obviously I think they're they're not good, but I think they're getting better.
I just I think Phillies just not not getting any good at anything.
So moving on moving on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
I know, I know, I know.
You're just what you've been loving.
Tom Brady and Tampa Bay.
I mean, anytime Tom Brady takes the field, it's just a pleasure for any person that loves football.
I know some people hate Tom, so it's okay, Uh, they head to Denver, a place where in the past, Tom has, you know, not necessarily had that the most success relative to his his own success.
Uh, they're they're the only team that he has a losing record against.
And when you consider he has pretty much a 700 at least winning percentage against every other team in the NFL, it kind of sticks out quite a bit again.
There's a lot of factors that go into that Ah, lot of those losses or came, you know? Well, several of them came early in his career.
Uh, there's a couple that came during the Peyton Manning era.
Certainly that's not the case now, with Denver there without Von Miller, Drew Lock will not be suiting up for I think 2 to 6 weeks.
Those a C joint injuries generally take about that long to heal.
So you're gonna have Jeff Driskel and maybe maybe we'll see the return of the immortal Blake Bortles ATT's some point down the road, But I think this week Tampa Uh, I I think they take care of business.
I think this is gonna be a business, a business trip for them.
And we use that term sometimes up in New England, because sometimes they just go in and just do exactly what you expect.
They go in, they score, they get great field position, they make stops on third down.
And I think you're going to see that from Tampa against us, I think, than winning pretty big.
And and and part of it, too, is also because I do think there was a lot of things we saw improve from Week one to Week two, especially on offense for the Buccaneers.
I think there's a lot of just communication issues, not necessarily ability issues just, you know, trying to get on the same page and and add in the fact that they're gonna have Chris Godwin back this week as well, and I think you're going to see a pretty big, big day across the board.
And maybe, who knows, maybe Rob Gronkowski finds the end zone.
But I got Tampa winning 38 to 10 against Denver.
Yeah, I actually took Tampa Bay is my survivor pick this week.
So just those injuries in Denver, I just don't think, um, you know, with the young team that they got going up against a much more veteran veteran team, especially offensively, Um, that's just too much for me, Andi, I think. Overall.
With with Denver Jeff Jeff Driskel.
He did some good things last year in Detroit, but I just don't know if he has much report yet with those younger receivers Jerry, Judy and and K J Handler the rookies, especially with Courtland Sutton out for the year now, too.
So I just think you look the veteran team and especially the coaching with Bruce Arians, Um, the way he can take a team on the road.
Sometimes I think that's gonna bode well today for Tampa Bay.
Yeah, and look, we're always obviously, you know, Tom Brady, no matter what team he's on, is always going to be the top biller um, in the offense is always gonna be talked about.
But you know, this Buck's defense has been very opportunistic, and I think a lot of it.
Obviously, there were a good defense last year, and I think it kind of got overshadowed a bit by the offensive struggles and everything like that.
But you know, their their draft.
Antoine Winfield Jr He he looks like he's a He's a veteran.
I mean, he's out there.
He a week, one pick, first pick of his career, we to forced fumble, sack fumble, uh, the guys all over the field.
He's been touted as a playmaker, and he certainly plays the part.
And he seems to have hey seems to have found his niche pretty quickly.
And you add in the fact that you know they have other playmakers on defense.
I think it's gonna be a tall order for for just Driscoll Thio be able Thio Navigate that, and then you have to worry about Tom Brady in the offense.
So again, I think Tampa's gonna have a pretty good, um, pretty good afternoon today in Denver.
Uh, Dallas and Seattle this afternoon as well.
Again, we mentioned it a little bit earlier.
Um, Dallas, I I mean, they barely verily came out of we 2 to 1 and one, uh, they were almost owing to if if not for the for the fact that they played the Atlanta Falcons and way all know their story.
It's gonna be on their their franchise, like, you know, a program for the for the next 25 years.
You know, way blew a 20 point lead to Dallas and a 25 point lead to the Patriots in the Super Bowl.
Uh, but Seattle, obviously, we mentioned Russell Wilson earlier.
A lot of people, even though certainly on considering the M V p Frontrunner three offense is cooking.
As they say, the defense losing Bruce Irvin hurts, especially when you've given up a significant amount of points.
Now again, one team they played with the Patriots.
So, you know, we're starting to see the Patriots offense be a pretty pretty **** good unit.
So maybe that is, you know, we have to put that in perspective a little bit, but, um, Dallas can put up some points.
And if that Prescott obviously we know that, uh, So I think this is gonna be a very fun, shoot out like game that ends in another Seattle victory, though I have Seattle winning this 1 31 27 just because again, I do believe that Rust is playing the best football at the position right now.
And you know that has a lot to do with Wide.
Seattle is is doing what they're doing right, And it's not just that.
I think they're just kind of opening up the offense a little more to than we've seen in the past.
You know, the fact that I think Russ feels a little more comfortable with the weapons they have their thio, some guys that have just kind of growing more into their role, their Tyler like they have to.
I mean, look at last week against the Patriots, you know, they're up by whatever.
It was two scores with about 4.
5 minutes left to go and their defense.
I mean, you would never unless it's the Patriots against the Patriots in Super Bowl, uh, their defense of years past, when you would never think that they would just let to drives, go right down the field, and again I mean, yeah, they made the play at the end.
But, you know, they were an inch away from losing that game.
And I think all of a sudden that that changes it.
So they almost have toe push the ball like they do on offense.
And unfortunately for them, rust can do it.
Yeah, and from the Dallas side, I'm I'm still not really sure what to think of Mike McCarthy yet.
Um, I mean, I've always kind of liked him as a coach, but it seems like so far he's tried to make some bold moves on after one of the top options.
And they went for two.
Um, so it's just kind of like he's trying thio mask those demons that have been there in the past.
And I think today it's gonna be a good test for him against, Like you said that Seattle defense that's giving up some points already.
Um, Jamal Adams going up against some of those weapons for Deck Prescott is gonna be a fun matchup to watch, So, yeah, I can't wait to watch this game.
Certainly one of the bigger ones of the week.
Yeah, and and again, i e.
It could be a very high scoring game or or could you surprise us and and be like a 17 14 game? That's just kind of how it is.
Yeah, I'm with you.
I kind of want to seem or, uh, you know, I'm not making a judgment one way or the other.
And Mike McCarthy just because it's only two games and I think this Dallas team has, you know, they're still trying to find their way.
I do have confidence in him, and I do think, you know the good thing for them is they have a lot of leeway in my opinion.
Again, we talked about way talked about the Giants and the Eagles.
Um, you know the football team.
I love calling them that.
The football team.
I was like, I'll ever not call them the football team, the football team.
I don't know what they are besides a football team.
I I don't know are they go there? They bad, you know, I think that's gonna play out a little bit more over the next couple of weeks, but I don't think they're necessarily a threat to Dallas.
So even if Dallas has a bad stretch here and there like I still think that this is Dallas is division to lose, and I think that gives them a little bit more.
I don't know, maybe more freedom to try some new things out, but I think this is gonna be a fun game.
But I do have Seattle winning, so it'll be good.
So we already talked about Green Bay, New Orleans.
Let's go to Monday Night Football.
We got 10 minutes left in the show before we handed over to our fantasy football experts because once again, I went into the final game of last week needing 172 points from my running back.
Um, I would not be what you call a fantasy football expert anyways.
Kansas CITY Baltimore Some people have already said it.
Yes, the game of this century.
Um, okay, let's let's let's pump the brakes.
I think hyperbole has ah ruined sports discussions to some extent, so we're gonna kind of keep it in perspective.
It is a great game.
Let's be honest.
It's the top two teams in the A F.
I think right now we questioned where the Patriots might be in this a f c hierarchy.
Um, I think that's a legitimate question that Will will learn Maura about over the coming weeks.
But right now, as it stands, you got the two best teams in the league in the FC.
At the very least, um, you have the match up with the two last MVPs the first time.
Two MVPs, former MVPs going up against each other at age 26 or under.
So yeah, obviously Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson.
But, you know, across the board, there's so many players in this game, big time stars.
Uh, you know, playmakers again.
Maybe my bias will come into this a little bit, but I am leaning.
I haven't given a score yet.
I will give it officially on Monday.
I don't wanna wanna I don't want to deprive our FBC Radio live listeners for my my, uh, my prediction.
But I will say that I think right now I am leaning Baltimore because I when it comes down to it, I do think Lamar Jackson is playing a little bit better than Patrick Mahomes.
That's not again.
That's not to say anything bad negative against him.
I just think currently, right now, I think Lamar is kind of picking up right where he left off last year.
Whether or not that last we'll see.
But as of Week three, right now, I do think he's playing a little bit better.
So I do think it will ultimately.
And I think the Ravens are playing a little bit better across the board defensively and again that the Chiefs air good defensively.
But I think the Ravens have just been better, so I do think they have the edge going into this Monday night game.
But I anticipate a pretty, pretty exciting matchup on Monday Night football and and we don't always get thes throughout the year.
Sometimes you get some stinkers, and this week I don't think that's gonna be the case.
So what, you're being obviously our Chiefs managing editor.
You cover this team very intently.
You have the wall to prove it.
And eso what are your impressions going into this game? And what are your biggest concerns as a Chiefs uh, fan and someone who covers the team with the Ravens? Click? Um, I think overall it z just the thoughts of, you know last week, Justin Herbert getting the late start and then the game being the way it was.
I mean, that's That's certainly I think, what's on everyone's minds right now Going into a big game like this, they're not really gonna show out very well.
But I think this is kind of the game.
They show up a little better in especially, uh, the offense.
So, overall, I think this is the best D they're probably going to see, especially this early.
I just think when you look at all three levels of the Ravens, I mean, uh, they just swarm swarm around and they create pressure in all all three levels of the field, even in pass defense.
So, um, in the game preview was they need to start fast.
This is a team we saw had a really good first quarter team in the 2018 season.
Last year in last week was not not the case.
So I think we're gonna want to try to get out in front of these guys like you did last year at home against Baltimore and forced Baltimore to start chasing a little bit.
Don't allow them to get comfortable, but I think for Baltimore, you know won t that I I think it's gonna be interesting to watch is how much they used the receivers.
This offense kinda utilizes the tight ends a little more, and we know how the running game is.
Um, trying to test those younger cornerbacks of the Chiefs and luxurious need.
And for shot Fenton try various words questionable.
We'll see if he could make it back from a broken hand this week.
Um, not that those corners are incapable of getting the job done, but I think there's just so much of a good mix of speed and toughness in those receivers that, you know, really just continues to make Baltimore go ****her than they already can right now.
Um, so, yeah, I mean, that's just kind of something I really thought that I wrote about this week and I ah, it's just one of those games going in.
You know, I think you one once kickoff happens, it's gonna be something that we see.
We see some unexpected things We've seen that you know, when some Chiefs Ravens matchups lately.
So, um, there could be a lot of scoring in this game that we don't see coming for certain individual players as well, especially if Sammy Watkins, it's out, took a big hit last week.
So maybe McColl Hardman will get going a little bit for Kansas City.
I think he's an X factor toe watch for the Chiefs, but, um, yeah, I just really excited to see how this game goes.
It Z always interesting to see these early season matchups for these bigger games rather than late in the season.
Like you know, Chiefs Patriots was last year, and Patriots Steelers was a few years before that.
So that's something that's also, I think, a factor to watch.
Yeah, you know, I think you brought up a great point.
The Chiefs have toe start fast.
I mean, we we know they have the ability to come back.
That's that's not in question, but you don't want to make a habit of it.
It's it's nice to know that you can do it, and it's good to know that.
You know, you can believe in yourself to do that because I think that's an important quality for a successful team that despite being down, you still believe in your abilities to do so.
You just don't wanna have to do that every week, because guess what? You're not going to get Bill O'Brien on the other side of the football field every single week.
That's I hit my quota for Bill O Brien shots for the day, folks.
Um, but so I do think you're right.
I think for the Chiefs to to, you know, really kind of get into this well oiled machine mode.
You know, we kind of expect them to do, because I do think that there, you know, as much as I will sit there and and and knocked the Chiefs and Patrick problems, I do think that their team that's that has staying power doesn't mean that they're going to go to the Super Bowl every year.
I mean, if I knew the future, I'd be there'd be a lot of things would be better at than than what I am.
So I don't know that I do think that they have the ability to be one of those really good teams at that is constantly contending.
So in order to do that this year, they have to start getting ahead of teams and and dictating how the play goes, because if they can dictate and have the ability to score quickly, which which they do very well.
All of a sudden you're gonna force teams that don't necessarily want to push the ball down the field.
That would play into pushing the ball down.
The field of that leads to mistakes and, you know, yada yada.
The Chiefs will win a lot if that's the case, but they can't start.
Uh, you know, falling behind regularly, especially against seems like Baltimore, because Baltimore will not let them come back.
I mean, that's that's the thing.
I mean, in any big comeback.
Yes, there is some, uh, just like the Patriots and the Falcons.
Yes, the Falcons had to do certain things to allow the Patriots to come back.
But just because you're given that opportunity doesn't mean you're going to succeed.
So we know the Chiefs could do that if given the opportunity.
That's why they're dangerous.
Baltimore won't give them that opportunity, especially especially if they, you know, fall behind by a couple scores like they've had at times.
So we've blown through this episode.
