What's going on? Everybody welcome back in.
Thanks for joining me.
My name is Kyle and this is a DFS podcast labeled The Slave, which is a gridiron ratings production.
And go ahead and share this out to the Twitter, as I always do.
Thank you guys for joining in.
We're talking about tight ends today, my favorite position to talk about Man.
I love the title position, probably because it's so hard and difficult to figure out that's what makes it exciting, you know? So it's a real passion of mine.
And I get to talk about a couple of my favorite guys that I've been stashing in and Dynasty leagues and watching them break out and become relevant DFS and getting to play them and talk about why you should continue to play them is gonna be It's gonna be a real treat for me, and hopefully you guys enjoy the content.
Uh, that is tweeted out.
Hopefully, everyone's getting excited for the weekend.
Hopefully, everyone is doing well in their fantasy leagues so far.
What a game last time, man, it's Patrick likes to do that.
Apparently, I was really disappointed in a gardener meant you.
To be honest, I was expecting you more productive game out of him.
He, you know, for what he is, he's becoming a very good um, almost like Alex Smith quarterback.
I guess if I had, if I had to do it that way, you know he is not gonna make the super big plays.
But he's kind of athletic on his feet.
He He's pretty accurate, you know, getting the ball, this playmaker's hands.
But, you know, there's still a lot of time for him.
I'm excited for governments.
Hopefully, he gets the opportunity to continue to be relevant and stay on the Jaguars for at least one more year.
But we'll see what he what they do next week.
I think they there's another divisional match for them.
They play the Bangles, so that should be an interesting game between him and Joe Burrow.
All right, well, let's get started.
Today we're talking about tight ends for the DFS Sunday morning slates that started a 12 central time in three Central time, 13 games that are included there.
There's a lot going on a Sfar as injuries of the tight end position.
George Kittles already been labeled us out.
We hadn't seen Darren Waller practice much this week, so he's still questionable after that monster performance on Monday night.
Andi Yeah, I think that's about Jack Doyle so questionable.
But against the Jets might be a Mohali Cox week again.
He had a pretty good solid game last week, and obviously CJ used, Um, I got put on IR.
Yeah, I think that's all for relevant.
Tied in injury news.
We're gonna go over my four favorite tight end.
That's what I like to do here at my top four favorite guys that are kind of like my lock plays that I'm putting in about 50 60% of my lineups.
There's a ton of good position or value at the position of tight end.
This is where I like to save my money because while you could spend a 59 100 a guy like Tyler Higbee or 70 or 6300 on a guy like George Kittle, if you were healthy, there's a bunch of value tight ends that I like to play in.
And like I said, they're pretty easy to identify.
So that's what I'm sure I'll be here to do to make it easy for you and get my take on these guys and you just throw them in your lineup.
Hopefully win some money if you go back to Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Today is Friday, right? I went over the quarterbacks running next tight or wide receivers.
I'll kind of go over them a little bit at the end of the show, just kind of give you an idea.
And I'll be going back and forth with these tight end because they match up with the quarterback matchups that I have is well for the week.
So let's start off with my, you know, second favorite guy, probably in NFL.
My favorite Titans, John New Smith, had a big breakout game coming into Week two against the Now I'm blanking out who did Johnny Smith leg in South Streak against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Of course, they play the Vikings this week, the price of 5200.
5 over under the bike, or the Titans are only favored by 2.
5, which is kind of interesting, right? Because, uh, you look at what Ryan Tannehill was able to do week one against the Denver Broncos.
They threw the ball quite a bit last week.
They didn't have to throw the ball as much, but they still, you know, did pretty well against the Jaguars.
The dog was tried to come back there at the end, but ultimately it was the Titans win.
And the Vikings looks absolutely dreadful last week against the cult defense that couldn't stop the Jaguars Week one and ultimately lost.
So it's a It's an interesting line. A. J.
Brown has already been ruled out.
I love Johnny Smith.
I love the touchdown opportunity.
I love the big play opportunity.
This was a guy that I was talking about in the off season.
I put out a My very first article was a tight and article.
It's like, Look, these are my three guys I'm targeting in Dynasty.
It was Blake Darwin, Johnny Smith, and I can't remember who the other one was.
It was probably like we should be drafting off. And there's one.
I was Ian Thomas, which unfortunately, is not working on Carolina.
But I was a big fan of Johnny Smith.
I actually have his, um, his player profiler if you haven't gone, go to player profiler.
They have the advanced stats on these guys.
He's in the 88th percentile on the 40 yard dash, 46 to 84th percentile in speed score.
94th percentile in birth score.
He has an age 18 breakout age, which is the 100th percentile.
This guy was just supposed to be dominate from beginning.
Last year was just third season.
He was playing behind Delaney Walker and, you know, the regardless of how good you are, it's kind of surprising to see, you know, Noah Fan and TJ Hawkinson kind of break out.
You know, even in the second year, because it takes a couple of years for Titans to become relevant, become consistent.
But you know, for him let's look at what we have here, you know, In 2018 Lenny Walker was still there.
I think he had some injuries in 2018 as well.
Johnny Smith and his limited play averaged 12.
9 yards per reception last year in advance play.
Week seven is when he was really getting the bulk of snaps, and that is when Ryan Tannehill took over.
He averaged 12.5 yards per reception.
So good, some good consistency.
And then this year, already he's averaging 15 yards per reception.
So this is a natural progression.
I think we're going to see from the tight end position as a guy of his caliber, and that's why I like him.
He offers a touchdown opportunity, and he offers the playmaking ability.
All you have to do is go watch the first drive.
Unfortunately, this is what happened, but against, um, Jacksonville last week, he got all of his points, basically the first drive.
He had a monster 63 yard reception to start the game like the second or third play of the game, and then he kept it off with the touchdown, all in the first drive.
It shows his athleticism right there.
They're playing against the Vikings, and I have the Viking stats here.
What they have allowed. They played Aaron Rodgers Week one.
Obviously, they got torched Aaron Rodgers three for 3364 yards and four touchdowns.
Erin Jones Onley rushed for 66 yards on 16 carries, so you know about four yards of carry but wasn't wasn't really relevant on the ground game week to Philip Rivers.
Vikings, you know, fell apart against the Colts last week.
Philip Rivers threw for 2 14 in a touchdown.
Jonathan Taylor, who were expecting, have a big breakout game.
He had, like 26 carries for 101 yards like 3.
9 yards per carry.
He saved you with pure volume play, but he didn't really do anything.
And Mulally Cox had the breakout week of five receptions for 111 yards on six targets.
And the big thing is that I need you to understand this, his longest morally cost.
His longest reception was on Lee 33 yards.
And so that that's a pretty big thing, right, because he had, what, 88 yards on four other receptions, So 22 yards perception for the other four catches, he was just getting big place every single time he touched the ball.
That is fantastic for the tight end position.
Green Bay Packers didn't use the tight end position.
They don't They had, uh, NVs had a very good game, and then you had Allen's our had a good game, and then, obviously um, Davante Adams was a league winner, you know, was on the Million dollar maker guys roster that we he had a very dominant game.
They just didn't use the tight end position.
But the Titans do.
Cory Davis was uninspiring last week.
He had the slot role again, all to himself.
Brown was out again last week, and he was fourth on the team in receptions.
I think he was tired third with Johnny Smith and targets.
So you know I don't see Corey Davis has a real threat.
While he should see increased volume because A.
Brown will be out again, I think this is just the opportunity for them to use John and Smith.
Week 14 Targets for receptions, 36 yards.
Not not the volume you want, especially when they threw the ball in the forties.
But then, last week, four targets for receptions, 84 yards and a touchdown a majority came of it on the first drive, but Brian Towne had only through the ball 24 times in Week two.
They didn't need the volume play right, and Johnny Smith still provides the touchdown upside.
He had two touchdowns this game, so when I think when you're looking at all the stats and you're looking at the athleticism, you want the upside.
And Johnny Smith has curved What the upside is.
Some of the Stats City have.
From last year you had three for 64 6 for 78 5 for 63 for 63.
So this isn't new to Johnny Smith.
This is a guy that puts up big numbers, and if you want, look up the stat or the run from last year, where he gets like a tight end, you know, into round handoff and takes it for 57 yards down the field.
Everyone says it.
I know it's kind of cliche at this point, but like he literally looks like a running back every time he has the ball in his hands.
He knows how to move the ball.
Hey knows how to move with the ball in his hands.
He just he just looks fantastic from the field.
Like said, he's a He's a one of my favorite players, and I just think at 5200, while it is a little pricey, needs priced in.
But guys behind guys like Noah Fit and TJ Hawkinson.
I still think that's a good price for you to pay.
So the second tight and then I want to talk about here is Drew Sample.
He is the now starting tight end for the Cincinnati Bengals.
They play Philadelphia.
He's priced at 3500, very, very good towards the bottom end of these starting tight ends.
5 over under, so it's actually gone up the whole point since I did.
The Tuesday episode with Joe Burrow and Philly, the Philly favorite, is actually calmed down a little bit there.
Only favored by 4.
And I think when I did the episode a couple of days ago, um, Phillies favored by six.
So they see this being is a closer game than they originally anticipated.
I talked about this when I talked about Joe Burrow the other day.
I talked about this positive versus negative game script right where Cincinnati cannot stop the run to save their life and they have passing problem or and the Eagles have passing problems with Carson Wentz getting sacked and not being very efficient.
I think this is a mile Sanders breakout week where he's gonna put the team on his back.
He's gonna win you some lineups and win you some some fantasy games for you this week.
And so that's why I see Joe Burrow as also being productive on the other side because he's going to be in a negative game.
I have to pass the ball a lot while Ma Sanders is gonna be running the ball a lot, They can't run the ball.
Philadelphia's been pretty decent against the run.
Have the stats here that no wrong one.
But I had the stats here about what they did, uh, against the first couple weeks whenever they played, um, some other teams.
I gotta move on from that.
But when talking about Drew Sample, he's a decent athlete.
He's a 47 40 guy.
He's not gonna, you know, while you with the speed.
But what works for him is going to be the pure volume place.
He had nine targets after CJ Zombie.
A lot of it came in the 3rd and 4th quarter in garbage time.
But what? That's kind of what I expected this positive versus negative game script against Philadelphia.
They're gonna have to pass the ball.
He threw the ball 61 times.
Did Usama and Drew sample in this game together? They saw, um, nine targets for mhm.
Drew sample used.
Almost saw six targets himself.
So that time in position is very, uh, important to Joe Burrow.
We saw what that East Moss was in college.
He had a high target share on Gwen.
He was at L s U.
Last year, Joe Burrow, like I said through the ball 36 times in week 1 61 times in week to the Titans had a have a 25% target share in Week two.
So with all these wide receivers and all these weapons and Joe makes and not being able to run the ball behind that putrid offensive line, this is where the volume is gonna go.
It's gonna go to the tight end position, 17% target share for the tight end position in week one.
Like I said, this is a volume touchdown play.
He's not gonna get the yards, but it's very encouraging for him to have nine targets, seven receptions and 45 yards in week one.
I think there was on a touchdown right there.
That is a very solid out.
And, you know, you're looking at, you know, 17.
5 points right there.
And if he's able toe somehow make it over that 100 yard mark with one good play, you're gonna get that 100 yard bonus.
Plus, you're going to get, you know, the +67 receptions in the touchdown place.
So he has an opportunity.
And I was also, you know, looking at what Philadelphia's done against quarterbacks, right? Like they've been decent against the running backs.
Peyton Barbara couldn't do anything on the run.
This is what I was trying to talk about earlier.
Had the stats on a different sheet, but Dwayne Haskins fared pretty well against Philadelphia.
Jared Golf Last week in Tyler Higbee.
They had a fantastic game. Logan Thomas.
18 Targets for receptions, 37 yards and a touchdown.
Five for 5 54 and three touchdowns.
So they give up opportunities in the red zone to the tight end position, and I think you know 5 to 8 targets I think is very well in the range of outcomes for Drew sample, especially if they're gonna be playing behind a lot.
Logan Thomas versus Cleveland is going to be my next tight and that we talk about here, and this is another pure volume play.
He's priced at 3700, so he's actually a little a little Maura about 200 more than Drew sample.
It's a 45 point over under versus Cleveland.
Cleveland is favored by 7.5.
So you know when I was talking, um, about Terry McLaurin yesterday, If you wanna look at what Cleveland has done versus the running backs Mark Ingram Week one and J.
1 yards per carry.
Joe mix and weak to on a Thursday night game 2.
9 yards per carry.
Washington's or Cleveland's defense against the run is very well and very sound.
I think what you can see here is, you know, here's the combined stats for sampling.
Lizama put up 11 91 combined week to, you know, because they obviously use almost is out for the season.
I got that injury and the week 15 for 58 2 is what Mark Andrews did against Cleveland.
So Cleveland allows the passing game.
And we saw that Joe Burrow had a lot of success against them last week.
And I think you know Haskins.
He's not gonna while you with this place, but he targets to people and it's it's Logan Thomas and it's Terry McLaurin and that, and that's basically, you know, Hopefully they get Antonio Gibson a little more involved.
But if you look at what he's done Week one, he had eight targets, four receptions, 37 yards and a touchdown.
We to nine targets for receptions in 26 starts.
So like I said, he's not.
He's not a secure play, but this is a guy that's probably gonna have the low ownership possibility he's going to save you some money about.
He's going to save you about 1500 over a guy like John F.
Smith, where you're able to upgrade your defense if you want to.
You know, put that Colts matchup against the Jets with all their injuries in for Week three, or if you want to pay up for God to get those guys like Cooper Cup or Odell Beckham into your lineup.
You're able to do this with a guy that Logan Thomas, which, with at least you know the volume is guaranteed.
And that's really what the biggest concern is for the tight end position.
Sometimes you don't wanna have to bank on the tight end when you know you want the volume there.
Instead, that's what guys like Drew Sample and Logan Thomas can offer So many tight ends.
I wish I could have put them all in here, man.
So many good ones.
I like Noah fan a lot this week against Tampa Bay as well.
A lot of Hawkinson versus Arizona.
That's gonna be interesting to.
I'm excited to see what if Arizona's defense has actually turned it around against the tide in position.
So we'll be watching Hawkinson.
I'm glad he's finally turned it around after a great week, one last year and then a slow start the rest of year, he's looked pretty solid, So I'm talking about my last time in here.
I didn't know who I wanted to talk about for my last one because I wanted my four solid guys where I break down all the big, big stats about these players and Jordan Atkins.
He feels it feels dirty, right? I don't think people understand like that.
Hey, this guy's actually 28 years old.
I had no idea when I was looking at him last year to, like, stash him in some dynasty leagues.
I thought he was like 24 25 years old.
Now he's 28 years old, will be 29 by the start of next season.
He is a lot older than I thought, but apparently talked to my man Jeff.
I'll hear a gridiron ratings.
That's a guy that he's been keeping an eye on for a very long time.
He was supposed to be this next breakout tied in because of his athletic profile and in college.
But I like Jordan Atkins here versus the Steelers.
I must talk about him for a second because I think that there is something interesting here.
It's a 45 point over under the Steelers air only favored by four, and I definitely felt to be favored by more.
But only favored by four against the Texans is week one and week to snap percentage is 82 83% So he's on the field a lot.
Even though Daryn feels caught the touchdown.
Last week, he got two touchdown week one, Darren Fellas is 43 40%.
That's what he's seen for his week, one week to snap percentage in Week one if you watch the Thursday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs, Atkins had only two receptions for 39 yards, but one of them was a touchdown.
And on one of these plays, he kind of runs this up in seen round catches, the ball and as he's catching the ball kind of back steps kind of hurdles under the defender and makes a fantastic player to get another, you know, 10 yards on top of his reception.
He looks athletic and looks good with the ball in his hands.
It's just the volume, right? Like, Why is Darren fills out there? He's a blocking tight, and that's just getting the opportunity because he's blocking for David Johnson.
Then he, you know, wheels out and is just wide open because no one wants toe.
No one wants to cover Darren fellas.
He's not gonna, you know, scare anybody's defense away.
We two he had seven targets.
This is what you were looking for for Jordan Atkins, especially for DeShaun Watson, who's a fantastic pastor.
And because of a scrambling ability.
He's always looking down the field, even when moving out of the pocket.
Seven receptions for 55 yards.
Unfortunately, Darren Fells had the touchdown, But it's kind of good, right, because if you look at the Steelers, they have allowed some passing opportunities against them.
I was afraid that if you know Atkins caught this touchdown and he has his, you know, seven receptions, that's, you know, 18.
5 points right there, going on with his yards, he'd be in a much higher price, and I think this is a real bargain for you.
He runs routes on 90% of the passes.
That is very good.
He has 60 route to run this year on Lee nine targets, but seven of them came in Week two is getting more involved in the passing game.
Wolf Waller was non existent.
I definitely believe that had something to do with it, but this is just what will Fuller does, right, like it's the hamstring injury.
I was really excited about Will Fuller after Week one because he finally stayed healthy.
He was getting majority of the target share, like 30% 33% of the target share.
But this is, you know, who will Fuller is, and it allows a guy like Jordan Atkins to come in and take the opportunity.
You look at the Steelers defense.
Matt Bark, Matt Barkley.
The wrong Barkley, say Kwan.
Barkley, 15 carries for six yards.
Melvin Gordon last week.
19 carries for 70 yards, but he kind of saved himself on on like two decent runs.
But the Steelers defense does not allow running opportunities to be made, but they do in the passing game.
You know Daniel Jones to 79 Jeff Driskel of all people to 56 against the Steelers secondary.
They allow opportunity there.
If you look at what they if you look at what they do here for war.
Daniel Jones in Week one had three *** Lock and Driscoll combined had seven *** allowed and we two.
But Atkins average depth of target is only 4.
7 yards, that is, in normal situations, you'd be like, Oh, no, that's terrible in this situation, it is fantastic.
He's going to be in the line of scrimmage.
It's gonna have to be quick routes for DeShaun Watson because that pass rush is going to destroy this terrible Texans offensive line.
And when he's out there for 90% of the routes at 4.
5 yards per depth of his target.
That allows for the opportunity there for Jordan Atkins to have the, AH, high volume play.
And if you could just guarantee keep Darren fellas off the field, I just think it's gonna be a flip flop on them on touchdowns.
But Darren fellas had a lot of touchdowns last year.
It was actually very annoying, so the opportunity is there for him.
They didn't use the the Evan Ingram and Katie Smith didn't have a good week.
One against somebody.
Look at Noah fan.
He had four receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown on five targets, so I think if they're gonna do anything, they're gonna now the tight end position to be relevant, and that's where they're not gonna be able to run the ball like, especially David Johnson.
If Barkley couldn't do it in Melvin Gordon, couldn't do it.
I don't see how David Johnson is going to run on this defense, especially with that offensive line.
So I see the law for Jordan Atkins, it's gonna have to be quick, short passes.
That's kind of why I favor Randall Cobb this week over some of the other you know, willful and Brandon cooks.
It's gonna have to be those quick passes for D.
Um, yeah, I think I think you can confidently put him in your lineup.
It's really just going to be about the touchdown if and touchdowns are very difficult to predict.
Unless, you know, unless you're Calvin Ridley, then you just get to a week for the rest of your life and become a stud.
So, like I had a I had a lot of these other Titans that I wanted to talk about, some of the other ones that I was thinking about.
I like Hayden Hurst a lot this week, especially 4700 vs Chicago.
Julio Jones is injured.
He's probably going to miss this week.
I think it's a good opportunity for him, but I think Hayden Hurst is kind of chalk at this point.
I think we kind of expect him to have the volume there.
And so I didn't wanna put him in there.
And I wanted to talk about some of these other guys and give you the opportunity to make your own, you know, conscious choice about are these tight ends worth it? And yes, you know Jordan Atkins, Drew Sample, of course.
John Smith and Logan Thomas.
Hopefully, we're not a week too early and Logan Thomas, but I think I think this is it.
I think this will be the opportunity for him to kind of get the target yards and the touchdown, although the guy throwing it to him, it is not very accurate.
Uh, if if you're looking at an opportunity for someone like, um you know Zach Ertz, he's priced at 5100 Zach Ertz and I just wanted to, like, kind of remind people exact hurts.
Does this where he starts off, kind of slow and then tours like the second half of the year.
Although there was already a lot of injuries to the wide receiver position, he just does this.
He starts slow and then eventually he has the breakout game and then He's fantastic for the rest of year.
This is just how it's gonna be.
I still think I prefers accurate over Dallas Carter, even though Dallas Carter does.
You know kind of the touchdown man down in the red zone, but they're playing Cincinnati.
While I do think it's a mile Sanders game, I wouldn't be against the idea of having, you know Zach Ertz at 5100, which is just insane to me. Below.
He's below Hawkinson fan Johnny Smith Waller hig being kittle.
I don't know how many more weeks we're gonna get Zacher.
It's kind of disappearing.
We're not gonna get this opportunity from him again.
And then one more guy that I wanted to talk about, the only reason I didn't talk about it because this price was a little higher at 4500 and it's Dalton Schultz.
I tweeted out before waivers went through, and I was like, Look, if you're gonna tied in premium league, you need to pick up Dalton Schultz because you conflicts.
Um, even if you already have a really good starting tight end.
We saw the opportunity that Blake Garland was going to get and in week in Week one.
Dalton Schultz didn't really do anything but a week to.
He had 10 targets, nine receptions, 88 yards and a touchdown.
And this is what's going to happen when you have a Marquis Cooper CD.
Lamb, Ezekiel Elliott and even Michael Gallup has been disappointing.
You just can't cover everybody like you can't put safeties over, you know, over the top of Dalton Schultz, for with linebacker help underneath because they're covering all these other great wide receivers that they have and Dad has.
Historically, you know, we talk about Jason Witten.
Jason wouldn't how annoying he was because he wasn't very athletic.
This is why we like to Blake drama.
So it's because Jason wouldn't.
I'm pretty sure last year had 83 targets, So I like Donald Shultz a little bit priced at 4500, and then one other guy that I was also considering is you gotta consider Jordan Reed.
You have Nick Mullins coming in this week, so I mean, he he didn't find with Jordan Reed last week, but he's priced at 4000.
I'm willing to sneak him in tow, you know, one or two lineups, because when he's out there.
It's just the health.
And as long as he stays healthy for the entire game, I don't know if there is another tight end in the entire NFL that has a higher percentage of catching a touchdown based on the talent of the tight end and what the offense does to the tight end position.
That's Jordan Reed.
So thank you guys so much for joining me.
Um, if you're looking for free money and you like doing prop bets, thrive Fantasy gave us a promo code where you could go to thrive fantasy.

Or did the Thursday Night Football profits and actually want a little bit of money out of the $25 by.
And I only want $35 because apparently Preston Williams didn't want to show up last night.
Um, it's kind of cool.
This is, you know, kind of what it looks like right here, and you kind of go through the overs and the unders of Yes, you pick the overs in the under.
So some of the props were like Tyler Eifert.
Half a touchdown, you know, over Under.
And that's when you decided to shoes killing Coal 39 a half over under James Robinson over, you know, have a touchdown over under.
And so it's kind of fun.
And like I said, if you guys like free money to give it a try, you know they're giving you up to $50 free.
Just when you sign up and use the Kogi are 50 it is in the hashtag.
So thank you guys so much I might come on tomorrow and do some lineup builders using my man Jeff.
We like toe hang out over here and talk some more DF so hopefully someone wins.
Um, if you're doing the $3 buying, which is what I'm doing, you do up to 20 entries.
It's I like the limit of entries because it kind of takes away that variance a little bit.
You know, Week one I did the $5 buy in that draftkings was doing it was $5 buy in 20 entries.
You know, I put it, It was it was unlimited entries, basically, but I did 100 $20 and cashed out with 220.
Last week, I did the $3 buy in up to 20 entries, so I bought it for 60 and I did, you know, and I cashed out with $66.
80 so we made a slight profit.
But I don't wanna be transparent with you guys.
You know, we're getting close where at least one of their money back.
And that's what you wanna at least do, right? At least when your money back enough So that you can have that opportunity to have that really big breakout DFS Week where you end up winning, you know, a couple 100 bucks or even a couple of 1000.
And I'm doing the $3 buy in this week, which the first place, I think is 100,000 or 200,000.
So hopefully you guys like the content following on Twitter at Fantasy Reserve and hopefully someone wants the money.
If you do, let me know.
I will see everyone tomorrow.
