There it iss mhm que on key on Once again.
Um, some news items.
Um um, there he will start key on Howard because, look, he is going to be the quarterback.
So I know a lot of fans were not happy last Saturday with their performance and stuff like that, but he will.
He will start this Saturday.
So once again, that was from that day was of W D N O S o.
Once again key on how it was. We'll begin.
Let's go ahead and began with our Southern Miss preview.
So Summer, Miss Previews versus Two Lane.
Let's go ahead and play this back.
This is from their show called Golden Eagles Hotline.
I was talking about two lanes, so let's go and play that back for you.
I'll put that up on the screen and wealth.
The following is a presentation of the Southern Miss Sports network from Leer Field I.
M G College on the Southern Miss Sports Network from Leer Field.
I am as we begin to talk a little Golden Eagle athletics and Jeremy McClain is first up our director of athletics here and at Southern Miss and Jeremy.
We've been through now to home football games for the Golden Eagles in this era of co vid 19.
How how would you sort of, uh, kind of gauge how it went? Maybe a little bit better from week one to week? Tua's far as that's concerned.
Yeah, there were some places, John I thought we did.
We did things better.
I think I think from one to to your, you know, just like the team, you're gonna find ways to address issues and improve.
I will say, though there were a couple of things that I thought went the other direction, and we've got to continue to clean up and we're gonna be reaching out to our folks who were coming to the games.
I thought the crowd was great as far as energy and Intuit Boy that you know, the last drive, even though obviously didn't it didn't go our way didn't end the way we wanted it to.
I just thought the intensity of the crowd was you wouldn't have known that it was, ah, limited capacity.
You know, I just It just felt it felt like everyone was into it.
And I'm very thankful for that.
We're gonna be asking our folks to do to help us a little bit and and some of what we're doing with our social distancing.
And we had a few areas again that we've got a little tighter than I wanted it to, and and so we're gonna we're gonna continue to try to improve, and we're gonna lean on our folks toe, you know, to help us with that.
And But I thought, you know, all in all, it was a really good day and, uh, you know, again we were one play away from being a great day.
But it was really, really good day, and I think operationally will continue to improve in those areas.
It seems like as the game goes along, everybody does a good job of spreading out at the start of the game.
But as it gets more exciting and the game goes along.
It gets a little closer in there towards the 50 yard line.
Yeah, I think we definitely had some of that.
And, uh, you know, we just We just got to understand that, uh, you know, we need people to be not only responsible for themselves, but think about the people around them.
And so, like I said that that that's been the greatest challenge I think is my m g college.
There is something for everyone play a power five type program, and so it's It's It's, ah, mixture of types of games and the chances of us being able to reschedule those they're gonna be limited.
But we're gonna do our best. All right, Jeremy.
As always for visiting with us getting to some today and what's going on here in Southern Miss here on the Golden Eagle hotline.
Keep up the good work.
I know you and your Stanford burning the midnight oil are trying to get ready for each and every football game.
So thanks for the visit today.
Keep up the good work and we'll see you next time.
Appreciate Jeremy McClain, our director of athletics.
Given us some of that inside Scoop is he visits with us here on the Golden Eagle hotline.
Coming up next, the interim head coach of the Golden Eagle, Scotty Walden, joins us to talk Golden Eagle football.
That's coming up right after this.
This is the Golden Eagle hotline from Deerfield I m G college tails.
And so that's what we're preaching to get back.
But I'll tell you what.
The Pandemic and Cove in 19.
I just want to thank our fans for creating a great atmosphere, but, uh, you know, our guys put it behind us 24 hour rule and we've addressed the issues, and now we're ready to move on.
Obviously, uh, Eagle said that you fell behind but finally got ahead.
Took control that ball game in the third quarter, but, uh, Louisiana Tech was able to make some place there in the fourth quarter.
That's what it's about.
I guess they made some plays.
Eagles just couldn't quite make a many in that fourth quarter.
Yeah, they kind of flip the tide.
I think you know and talk to you and lied about this after the game.
But, you know, when they had the interception on the screen We had a little miss assignment there, but that's exactly what we wanted.
Um, and again it would have. Could have.
But when you look at it, that screenplay right there, that's seven points, because they bliss exactly how we wanted them to.
We had to set up that seven points.
Um, we can't control this one, but this is another seven points.
The rest decided to review.
Ah, completion to Tim Jones.
Then we tempo did and had a shot to Tim Jones going right back at him.
And he caught a touchdown right here in this end zone.
But they got blown dead because they needed to review it is what it is.
Um, And then the and thirdly.
And you know Antoine Robinson.
Uh, you know, making his first to him making his debut, Who is gonna be a great Golden Eagle receiver for us.
Uh, just couldn't quite hang on that ball all the way through on, but you think about it.
Uh, that's that's 21 points right there that were left out there.
That there should be on the board, but, uh, we gotta be Gray John in the fourth quarter, finishing people off expecting to win when were up 27 to 10.
There's never an excuse to let somebody come back and beat you, and that's what we did.
Um, that's the truth and way gotta make sure our guys understand.
And they do understand Now that you know, we have lied like that, we've got to continue to be really aggressive and go finish Wanna.
As you said, Yes, they Absolutely.
Because they blew a 17 point, they blew a 17 point lead in a game last Saturday night.
So that's just they all start of it.
We blew a 24 but they blew a 17 point lead that you cannot do that.
So he's correct on what he's saying.
Um um, and last Saturday's game, because Louisiana Tech.
So I'll be honest with you.
Look, this is not gonna be like this game right here between two lanes.
Something miss is not gonna be something like zero like the past.
I mean, last year they get lose that game in the bowl game.
But I'm gonna tell you, this is a completely suffered miss, um, Southern Miss football team.
I'm gonna be honest with you.
This is not gonna be something like I said, Um I mean, sure, Jack Abraham is gonna be that quarterback for them.
So key on how it's gonna start for us.
So I think it's imperative.
Let's go ahead and listen some or from the animal coats of sobbing mess, a lot of young players get the chance to play.
You miss, though the old veteran there, Tim Jones, about the last, I don't know, quarter and a quarter of something like that last quarter, maybe even a quarter of a half.
And when you've taken old Veteran like that out of there, who you know, those young receivers? Listen, Thio.
It's a tough load of the Golden Eagles.
It is when you talk about a kid.
That's, uh, you know, has been a player in force for four years and you know, is so productive and does everything right.
And he can play multiple positions.
And when you lose a guy like that, who's kind of an X factor? You know it is tough, but what our guys gotta understand is regardless of age, regardless of experience, you know, it's gotta be a next man up mentality that should make him hungry, and I was proud to see a few guys step up like Jason Brownlee scoring his first touchdown.
New York? Um, I think that's first of many for him.
He's gonna have a phenomenal career here, as well as Antoine Robinson and Marcus McCoy.
You know, kind of him and TV's Willis kind of unsung heroes, like when they got in the ball don't necessarily find them, which that happens at receiver sometime.
They were assignment sound, and they're playing hard and those little things go a long way.
And that's what we told him yesterday.
As long as you keep playing hard, that ball is going to find you some point and does so we have a lot of promising young players that are ready to step up.
Visiting with the head coach of the Golden Eagle, Scotty Walton, is that we will each week here on the Golden Eagle hotline of Gold Eagles getting ready to take on the Tulane Green Wave, the battle for the Bel Air at the Rock on the Saturday So Eagles were back in action here in just a few days.
Talk, Scotty, if you would about the running game a little bit.
Going in that was an emphasis to you Wanted to run the ball a little more effect.
Really? How did you feel like you did in the running game on Saturday? I think we made great strides, and it really did.
We rushed for, um, you know, close to 100 30 yards, which again I can't remember in a while, you know, And again, that's not our standard.
We wanna obviously all, um, for more yards than that, but the thing that I'm proud of it I can't remember a t least.
I'm not sure how many games has been since we ran for over 100 yards, and it's been it's been a couple of games, and I'm proud of the fact that we we got over that century Mark and you look at, you know, Kevin Perkins, Don Ragsdale and Frank Gore Jr.
You know, those two guys average, you know, between 6.
5 yards a carry and above every time they touched it.
So that was huge.
I thought our offensive line did a great job.
Go stand, check out those guys going, but we did a great job of spreading it out and creating those running lanes and getting that downhill vertical run game is what we preach for two weeks, um, average 4.
3 yards of carry.
Uh, that's more than we've averaged in a long time.
And so it's not where we want it yet not are standing, but we're going to continue to strive to get it there.
But just like I told the team for the game, you know, if if you if we can run the ball and stop the run, then there is no game s so we gotta keep that going.
What about over on the defensive side? What did you see you liked over there? Where do you feel like you've got to get better? Yeah, I think I think we've got to get better at, you know, stopping the run when teams were just trying to run right downhill at us, you know, now we did allow, you know, 3.
You know what, Carrie? You know, we were under four yards, Um, that we held their running back toe.
You know, they're starting guys under under 100 yards, but still, you know, we gotta create more tackles for loss.
We gotta put Look, when they put it when they put up 100 yards, that's something right there.
They they're unstoppable.
Something This I'm gonna be honest with a lot.
This defensive better get going on this week because I'm gonna tell you, um Southern Miss Look that game.
But sure, they blew a lead, but I'm gonna tell you, they're gonna They're gonna run that ball.
I mean, they got gore, they got rags down.
And that's another.
That's a bunch right there.
You have to continue.
So I think to tell you the truth, that's just that's just the start of it.
So, um, once again, this is from Golden Eagles hotline coach, the interim coach of Southern Miss talking about the game last Saturday.
And also the preps for two lane this coming Saturday as well.
So I will continue to, um listen, Thio when he when he had to say so I'm gonna go ahead and play this for a few more minutes behind the stakes a little more, and then we got to get off the field on third downs.
You know, I think they were hitting 60% above on third downs.
We gotta get off the field.
That's what we call it money down.
That's gonna be a big emphasis for getting off the field.
I do love the way that Central Latham competed, saying, I thought the linebacking corps competed and I'll tell you what.
I know that we gave a few touchdown passes in the back end, But I'll tell you what, That that'd be.
The secondary is a coach when you watch it from the first game of the second game.
Vast improvement there, competing, they try Ambrose competing.
Eric Scott, Malik Short, Kyle him be competing.
Tyler Barnes and a zealous Tyreke Moody competing.
And I think at the end of the day, they're gonna just continue to get better as long as they continue.
A lot of those young guys you mentioned.
They played some football, but not a whole lot of gold nickel.
So when you add in some of the juco guys, you had some of those young guys in.
That's a relatively young Golden Eagle defense that looks like it's getting better.
Very, very, very young and inexperienced.
Even if they they they're not new.
They've been in our program, but maybe not have played as much, and now they're taking on those full time roles.
Um, but at the end of the day, you know that they are daily getting better and progressing.
That's what I'm excited to see that maturation from.
And that's and that's concerned right there with this young Golden Eagles defense.
They're gonna be a concern with this with two lane offense.
Look, so I'm gonna be honest with you key on how is gonna have to be on his game this week Because, look, those last couple of this game last Saturday with those throws and stuff like that, growing overheads and stuff like that.
Look, it's got to cut out because they're gonna put some bullets on key on Howard.
And I'm gonna tell you he's gonna have to get out that run last Saturday.
Guess Navy like he ran the ball.
So I like what he did.
But when he throws the ball, he throws an inaccurate pass.
I mean, I'm worried about his accuracy key on Howard.
I'm absolutely are because he's on Southern Miss.
Some players are not gonna this This defense is not going to give them anything.
So we're gonna have toe take it from him.
That's one thing about it.
We just cannot go in there.
Thank you were gonna be world beaters and stuff like that.
We got them going there.
We have to sustain drives on third down, just like there are office.
They have to get off the field on third down.
We have to sustain drives as well, going into this game versus, um, the Golden Eagles this Saturday.
So once again, this is from I'm gonna come in, and I'm gonna give you the ****ysis on what they said.
So once again, thanks for joining us.
Uh, so let's replay.
Let's play it back and we'll play what he said, Um, what else he said about this? Um, Jean, I'm gonna give you ****ysis on it in just a second.
Go ahead and play this back Game one to game to not just defensive overall as a team to me.
We made a lot of strides from Game one to Game two.
Now our goal is obviously to win every game.
There's no moral victories in this deal, but as a coach, you gotta look at it and see the leaps and bounds we've made, and we've made a lot of them and we have to continue that trend, and that's gonna eventually lead the victories.
What about in the special teams? What did you see there that you like? Or there were some areas there you need to get better.
Yeah, that's a great question.
We really emphasize I spent a lot more time on special teams and I feel like we won the hidden yardage battle.
The kickoff return unit came.
Harold did a phenomenal job in our in our quick six unit, did a great job of blocking all night way averaged 29.
8 yards a return on.
And so we had great field position for our offense and then our kickoff team right now.
So our kickoff team now the two penalties I dislike, you know, it's kicking it out of bounds.
We have to that there's no excuse for that.
We cannot have those two penalties, but they were still when we did kick it.
Uh, we were pinning them down in there and, you know, we gave it one return, but they had a penalty on it.
But after that, we were pinning down in there.
I think right now the stands and the commerce were leading the comments and kickoff return yards and leave the commerce and, uh, starting field position on our kickoff team.
So that's we wanna win that hidden yardage battle.
Griffin Fleming came in, and that's what it's all about.
The hitting all.
It's the field possession.
That's what we have to do.
See, he's gonna He's gonna have a plan for their for their team, their kickoff coverage.
I'll be honest with it.
Was absolutely, um um million, A game vs Louisiana Tech Because look, they kicked those balls out of bounds.
So, look, um, CR kickers see how Maury Jones look.
He's gonna They're gonna have to kick toe Amaury Jones now.
They definitely gonna have to kick Tomori Jones.
And we know what Maury Jones can do.
I'm run, so I'll be honest with you.
Our special teams also have to be aware of what they're gonna do if they're going to kick that ball into the end zone.
That's gonna happen.
It is what it iss.
But if we if they kick it towards us, we have a chance to get that get a good return on it.
So once again, we all preview in two lane seven.
I'm listening to the coach and I'm giving you some ****ysis on what he said in his, um um, So once again, let's go and play it again.
Did a great job of, um, punting the ball.
I think over 40 yards punt was we were very sound there.
So I feel like we're winning hidden yardage battle and and that's do thio our coaches to have emphasizing special teams.
So I like what I saw there.
We didn't talk to you about that last year.
Your philosophy that you talked about some last week.
What's your philosophy in regards to the special teams? I mean, some coaches, it's just there.
But you want to attack just like you do on offense and defense with the special teams 100%.
No, it's it's it's a to me.
The attack and the tempo is ah, people talk about it.
You know that attack mindset in that tempo mindset as a part of their offense or their defense.
To me, it's a program thing and so we wanna attack in all phases.
So when we have a return unit, we are We're going to devise every scheme possible to try toe steel points, and that's what we and if we can't steal point still yards.
So we're devising every scheme possible for that, and you, you know as well as, uh, you know, whether it's, ah, you know, a fake we have or whatever it is we want to see if we find an advantage.
But other than that, we wanna be assignment.
Sound fundamentally sound.
And that's why I like, on Sunday nights we do or what we call a special teams circuit where we take everyone on the football team from quarterbacks, toe anybody, and we go through what we call a special teams circuit where everybody practices the fundamentals of our special teams units.
So especially this covert area, you never know who's gonna have to play, so you might have a different lineup every week.
And so we're training those guys to make sure that we're special teams. Air Button.
Yes, we want attack, but we wanna be fundamentally sound talking Head coach Scotty Wall near on the Golden Eagle hotline like we do every week.
So the Eagles getting ready to take on the green wave of toe lane.
The battle for the Bell will resume on Saturday here at the Rock.
Come back and talk more with Scotty about gold angle football on that field. Some questions.
We got some email questions, I think that have come in, so we'll pass those a lot on breaks.
Get even pun if he needed to, you know? So we we try not to overuse his leg, but extremely confident.
Our kicking game.
Um, we're very deep, deeper than most teams.
A specialist position.
Harvey is one of the best deep snappers I think in the conference.
Um, he's incredible, and those are things that go overlooked.
Snyder does a great job holding for us for and him and him and brings got a phenomenal chemistry.
So those things are all little nuances that not a lot of people talk about.
So I really appreciate that question because, uh, you know, it's a big deal.
People can't forget about the kickers sometime.
They think offense, defense, But the special teams that place is bigger roles, anything anymore And the and the problem is the only way they think about the deep snapper holder kickers.
When they do something, something that happens, you're right.
Here's another email questions from Brandon says Love the effort and the energy.
I noticed we had greater success.
Stop being the run with four defense alignment instead of three.
Well, we start using our defensive lineman more.
Yeah, that's a That's a phenomenal question about Brandon.
Appreciate that question and the energy effort for sure was there was it was awesome atmosphere.
Kids gave everything they had.
Uh, the answer is yes.
Uh, you know, we mixed up four down.
I think we we kind of.
We played four down, maybe 15 snaps in the second half.
Whenever you having problems stopping the run or teams running down here.
I think you could do a great job mixing things up, whether it's your three down, chop it up or if you go to four down and, uh, and and really mix it up in coach, pick and coach.
Done a great job.
And that's something we talked about yesterday of being diverse upfront and trying to create more issues for the old line.
Here's the issue.
They're going to run a four down linemen.
So what he's saying about this four down linemen, they're gonna they're gonna run him.
And like I said, we get our runners.
Like, um, are Jones.
Um um, Cam camp, um, on camera and whoever we have toe exposed, what they dio we have toe absolutely exposed.
Because, look, we have to have a plan for that because they're gonna they're gonna run the four down linemen and also three down linemen.
So I look at it this way.
This this is going to be a very pivotal Siri's, because we have to get off.
Continue those Siri's against the Southern Miss defense.
Because Louisiana attack Louisiana Tech, of all teams absolutely just ran the ball against them last Saturday.
So that's what they did.
They had some good plays in that game, but Louisiana Tech got the best of them.
So So if you could get the best of the Southern Miss defense, that would be, um, top notch right there.
So once again, this is from Golden Eagles hotline.
We are talking about Tulane and Southern Miss.
So once again, thanks for joining us.
We're gonna We're gonna go through the film setting.
In just a few moments, I'm gonna break down.
What happened in that game goes on.
Here's a two parter email question from Jon David.
Number number one.
What do you think? Most contributed, uh, to Louisiana Tech there at the end, able to come back and win the ballgame.
And what will you do this week to kind of address that in practice? Yeah, I think, uh, probably the number one thing to me.
It kind of goes back to that.
That that killer mentality when we were up 27 to 10 and then they get the pick.
That created a momentum swing for sure.
And what we have to understand is okay, work.
Every team on our schedule is going to be a good football team, and we play, and at some point, they're gonna make a push.
They're gonna make a run.
That's just the truth.
That's what we have to better withstand that.
And I don't think we withstood that. Great.
So, like, you look at their touchdown on the screenplay where we miss attack on, take a bad angle and they run a simple screenplay that goes and goes to the house.
You know, those are things we have to just lock back into.
Offense had a turnover number one.
Offensively, we don't way can't turn it over.
We gotta lock in as well and make sure that we, you know, maintain drives.
And and we have that, you know, because the last drive offensively as well, instead of kicking the field goal if we scored a touchdown on that last drive way, put it away.
And and that's kind of the mentality.
Offensively, we gotta have it Go put it away.
And defensively is we got a bar neck whenever we get a bad situation.
So we're gonna put our guys in those in those scenarios.
Um, you know, this week in practice and address those those issues.
So here's the second part.
The question from Jon David.
He says energy is a word.
Fans throwing around.
And you clearly exuded that.
How long did it take you to fall asleep after Saturday's ballgame? Where did you go to sleep after the game on Saturday? Because I don't remember going to sleep.
Uh, remember, Shut my eyes around two or 2.
I was thinking about everything, and, uh, but it was It was an amazing experience, obviously, you know, very disappointed, you know, not getting the wind.
But I'll tell you what.
The Rock was amazing.
The fans, The players were amazing.
And it's really fun to coach this team. John.
I'll be honest. It's fun to coach.
This team is fun to come to work everyday coaching.
These guys were having fun, the coaches having fun, But obviously, we want that to translate the winds.
Um, we're about energy, but also about execution.
And that's what we're gonna keep striving for.
But we're going.
I just know that nothing great life that have been done without great enthusiasm.
So we're gonna continue that now you're You're I was gonna ask.
You know what? Those guys coming in to go, I thought about this during the break.
Uh, that's kind of interesting.
I was doing a little research the other day where you played high school ball.
Cleveland High School, Right high side outside of four or around 30 minutes south of Fort Worth.
You the team plays in a stadium that is nicknamed the Rock.
Yes, the school colors are black and gold black, so maybe it was meant the to be its Southern miss.
Maybe it was meant to be. I thought it was.
And the Rock is one of the few Texas high school football stadiums as a historical monument, you know, And I was looking to.
It was built the same year that the original Rocket 1939 the first self.
So they're built the same time it Z match made in heaven right there.
The rocket in Cleveland a really cool place, Always a hard place playing for other teams.
It was really fun getting getting play in that atmosphere.
Here's another email question.
This is from Benji.
Benji wants to know What are we doing to shore up the defense and get more consistent with tackling, blitzing, addressing some death death use? Yeah, So we were, you know, constantly looking forward.
Talked about it yesterday, finding, um you know, other guys that, uh, you know, can provide a depth on and having a cross train a few guys in different positions, and that's just something we're gonna have to do from a depth stem, because we're not very deep.
But, you know, a day end of the day.
You know, we have to be in great shape.
We take care of our bodies were gonna be ableto last for four quarters.
But we also got to do a good job of cross training from guys to be ableto supplement that bond.
Then also kind of looting back to being diverse upfront and whether it's ah, you know, shopping things up or blitz and more whatever it is.
And, uh, really, you know, big things just go.
Hey, on on third down, things like that.
Go, go compete and go, go Make the offense Earn it, You know.
So, um but we're constantly talking about those things and I got full confidence in our defense of staff and our staff put together a great plan in our kids.
I'll tell you what, the the one huge thing that you look for tell you I'd be very disappointed in this team if I looked at the tape and we didn't play hard.
The one thing you gotta have is a team that plays hard.
And that defense, that offense played extremely hard.
Now we gotta go fit it up.
We gotta go tackle.
We gotta go block it up on offense. We have toe.
Now go execute our assignment.
But, um, you know, tackling something we preach every day on on on defense.
And we're gonna continue to preach and harping and get better at that as the season goes.
Visiting with the head coach of the Golden Eagles coaches.
He's gonna hang around, visit with us just a little bit longer.
Gonna take a break, though.
Can change you to talk golden Eagle Foot in the back end as well.
And I give up a cheap one defensively, their their front seven is really impressive.
They've got 18.5 tackles for a loss.
Um, already, Um, you know, they like to mix three down and four down.
And then, uh, they're gonna play man coverage a little different than what we saw last week.
There was more zone, or even they're gonna play man coverage.
So we're gonna have to be prepared for that beating press coverage and doing some things of that nature.
But good football team battle for the bell. Our kids are excited.
Um, and they've already get back out on the field and the key to the game would be.
Is there one or two that would be important for the Golden Eagles? Yeah, I think I think it's stopping the run and run the football.
I think those I think those are the two, the two big keys and is always create turnovers and have explosive, prevent explosive plays on defense and create explosives on offense.
Jeremy McClain and our visiting early We thought the atmosphere Saturday night at the Rock.
Now the pride was added into the equation.
There was, really, I think we had about 9000 Justus.
Many it's were allowed to have in their great atmosphere on Saturday night.
Can't say enough about the atmosphere.
I really appreciate the fans that came out.
They were loud the whole game.
The energy was fantastic.
I think we represented, uh, Southern Miss football in the tradition projects of the minutes on national television and a phenomenal way we need that every week, regardless of what uh, station were playing on.
And we're gonna bring the energy and we're gonna do everything I can to get these guys in.
Houston has been fun and fly around and play black go football without giving away any secrets from an injury standpoint or health.
The stand point are the Eagles gonna be is in good shape Is they need to be from an injury standpoint at full strength anyway.
Yeah, we're relatively healthy, John. Nothing major.
We have a few minor deals, you know, with You know, Tim Jones has a lower body, you know, injury, but it's it's nothing.
That's, Ah, major deal.
But he's gonna have to be monitored as well as several other guys on our team that, or just got bumps and bruises, you know, just just just typical things week to week with those things that you're gonna deal with all through the season.
But they're doing a good job.
Tom Collins start doing a great job of get those guys ready to get back on before we let you go before I let you go.
We're gonna visit with Matt Kubik here in just a minute.
The offensive coordinator talk about what maps kind of brought to Golden Eagle football.
Man, he's done a phenomenal I thought he called Amazing game on on Saturday and he put our kids in a position to be successful, and he brings that, you know, It's kind of talking about, I think, with ESPN Cruz.
I'm kind of the bombastic one and and and mathematics that quiet, cool, confident guy in the box.
So it's good that we got a good yin and yang.
They're great communication.
He does a great job with our quarterbacks, and and he and Jack's got a great relationship.
Great, great communication that you could tell just hearing them talk on the headsets.
They were on the same page.
And hey, brings a leave no doubt mentality to our offense.
To where you know, we wanna go put appoints, put up yards.
And I thought he attacked.
Really? Really? Well, we just Louisiana Tech.
So you just fired up.
For what? He brings the table for our offense. All right, Scotty.
As always for the visit, we'll see you on Saturday against the Greenway.
Appreciate it, John.
Scotty Walden, the head coach of Golden Eagles visiting with us here on the Golden Eagle hotline back.
Coupet is up next.
We'll talk to him right after this.
This is the Golden Eagle hotline from Deerfield.
I'm weren't exactly where we wanted to be, and it wasn't huge.
Things just little fundamental things that we worked on all week.
And he, uh, he definitely address those.
And I thought the backs did well.
And then, you know, just I think Jack played played a great game again.
Just just really, really efficient taking care of the ball.
And, uh, like I said, we would love to come out with the W.
But definitely, definitely confidence is higher going into this weekend.
I'm not making any, uh, any excuses.
But when you look at the wide receiver, well, there's a lot of talent there.
But other than Tim Jones, Tim's really the only guy that's really had a conservative amount of experience.
But it's fun to watch those young guys who look like they're getting better and better as the season goes along.
Without a doubt.
And you know, that was something that you know, even in the week one.
You know, South I'll game.
You know, you mentioned the receivers.
You also had, you know, Ragsdale, Gore, Um you know, uh, G at tight end.
You had guys that were playing in their first year, the first game for Southern Miss under the lights.
So, you know, maybe some pregame jitters.
You know, stuff like that that that may be played in, you know, kind of played into some some some of the performances week one, but I think we definitely took the next step in all positions.
But I agree at receiver a lot.
A lot of talent there, Um, and was really excited to see, you know, Jason Brownlee get that first touchdown catch.
And and Antoine almost almost a heck of ah heck of a catch there with Jack through a great ball there would have loved the shut the door on that one.
But that Zatz last week, and we're moving on.
I know going in last week, you want to run the ball a little more effectively, and it looked like you did that.
Those guys were getting better as well.
And the people forget Ragsdale first year at this level.
Frank Gore, just out of high school.
So other and right now than Kevin Perkins.
There's there's some guys that having to learn the game back, they're without a doubt.
Yeah, I think that was running backs definitely improved.
You know, Frank, we're talking about that.
Today has just been, you know, every time he touches the ball, seems seems to make a play.
You know, rags is a guy.
That's that's that's really consistent.
Um, you know, as far as being a downhill guy and then showed some great speed made a couple guys, miss.
But, you know, overall, it was a efficient performance.
And, uh, hopefully we can build on that, uh, and take it.
Uh, take it, Thio.
The one thing, I guess it's an afternoon kickoff.
1 30. Kickoff against.
Too late when you get back on the practice field, which will be tomorrow.
Your guys air off today when they get back on the field tomorrow.
What are some areas that you work on? Whether it be overall for the offense or as you start to get ready for tillane? Yeah, I think just just overall, um, just front, I'd, uh, you know, two lanes.
Traditionally a coach.
Curtis has done a great job in a known coach Curtis for for a couple of years.
He does a great job over there.
Two lane, kind of an odd front guy by nature, some bear stuff.
And then, you know, I flip on the game the other night, you know, during the off week against South Island.
And lo and behold, these planes before down stuff.
So, uh, you know, we thought we had a kind of had him had him pinned down a little bit, but then he showed us some new things there against South Alabama, and they've got two great defensive ends, which I'm sure is the reason for doing that, letting those guys have a little bit more freedom on the edge.
So, uh, really gonna have to focus on being able to be portable from odd to even different things like that and making sure that our plan eyes gonna hold up against, you know, multiple fronts.
But the role of the tight end has kind of changed over the years in college football.
You've got to, I guess maybe even three guys who are all kind of versatile guys and driver and, uh, Grayson, Gunter and those guys and then, uh, even Luke Baker and some guy Ray Ladner who's been hurt.
But you got some talent there, A tight end.
Without a doubt, Grayson Grayson was a great pick up.
You know, we were glad to get him back back home here in Mississippi.
You know, I know we probably probably, uh, could would have loved to get him a couple more touches against Louisiana Tech, but, you know, kind of the secret was out a little bit.
You know, he had had a good game against South.
How had a couple couple nights catches there? So we're gonna have to get a little bit more creative with Grace.
And as far as trying to get him some touches and then drivers been consistent all through camp, especially in the run game.
A little bit, little bit bigger, a little bit more downhill guy and, you know, looks loose.
Got the injury right now.
But co Cavallo is also also stepped up, and this has shown that he can get it done as well.
So when you have some guys, uh, some some multiplicity there at that position, it's definitely gonna gonna help us out.
I take our final break, come back and has spent a few more minutes with Mac.
Whether that's whether that's throwing the ball early or Max pro and some stuff definitely gonna stay with our our plan, as far as you know, mixing up.
I thought we were a little predictable week one as far as run past, you know, on first down, definitely ran it a bunch.
And again, I think, um, you know, there's some.
There's some different things that that they're doing defensively on the defensive front, that we're gonna have to be able to adjust to and and have some things that carry over on multiple fronts, like we talked about earlier.
You've coached a lot of great quarterbacks.
The Jack Abraham's another one of those.
Yeah, I'll tell you what.
I'm just been since I stepped on campus.
Just been thoroughly impressed with Jack.
Can his knowledge of the game and his work ethic, um always helps when you got a senior guy, that's that's been through the fire a couple times, but, you know, just really proud of the way that he played against Tech.
And, you know, it was just great Thio, you know, getting on the phone in between.
Okay, once again, Golden Eagles hotline with coach Scotty Weldon and coach Kubiak.
They had some pretty good ****ysis about the Southern Miss football team.
Now, I'll be honest with you.
I mean, they're gonna run.
They're gonna run their their bulls right there.
They're definitely going to run their bulls.
So our guys, they're gonna have to just aggressively adjusted them to the settings, because I'm gonna tell you they will run the ball.
So let's go ahead and give you a breakdown on them.
Take this off the screen and we'll switch over to the stats screen.
I'm gonna switch over to this right here.
We're gonna give you the last game in game breakdown.
I'll give you that will give you that break down from last game, and then I'll write down the film.
So get this up to the screen.
Okay? This is the last game we're gonna be breaking down the game against, uh, Louisiana attack that 1.
So let's go ahead and give you the scoring plays.
I'm gonna go ahead and give you the score place.
Scoring plays in that game last Saturday night gets Southern Miss.
The first score was Louisiana Tech scored the first touchdown.
It was on the past play.
It was a five year old score.
Louisiana Tech seven.
Then Southern Miss at a, uh, on a Perkins run.
So it was at the three minute mark.
So once again, they lead 76 of the to, uh, run.
Failed to It was a missile.
The two point conversion.
Um, Louisiana Tech kick the field goal.
That was it was at the 8. 52 mark.
So Louisiana Tech lead, um, 10 to 6, but seven minutes came back on a 74 yard touchdown for my Jack Abraham to Tim Jones.
So he caught the ball.
Um, that was in the second quarter.
In the at the 9 16 marks.
And then Southern myth scored again.
Um, this is how they scored in the minute.
Tim Jones had a 20 yard pass play from Jack Abraham made a 2010.
And then Brownlee scored from five yards out, made a 27 10 so they left 27 10.
But Louisiana Tech came back.
Hardy had a 32 yard catch from Luke, Anthony was a touchdown, made a 27 17.
And then, um, also smoke.
Harris had a touchdown from Luke.
Anthony made it 27 10.
Louisiana Tech kick the field goal that was at the 9 54 mark in the fourth quarter.
Um, they led 32 24 then Louisiana Tech came back.
That was the comeback right there.
So I'll be honest with you.
They in that game.
Let's give you the numbers in the game.
Last, um, Saturday.
Last number games.
Numbers On last Saturday, Louisiana Tech had 26 1st downs, so they had 13 on past place.
12 13 run, 12 on past.
Now Southern Miss at 21.
So they had 21 1st downs in the game, nine on runs, 11 on past.
So that's something right there.
They only have one on penalty.
They had over 300 yards in that game vs Louisiana Tax.
That's the same situation.
Um, their running game.
They had 30 carries for 1 29.
They averaged 4.
3 a game versus Louisiana Tech.
So I look at it this way.
But if we can contain that on that Southern Miss Um, office, the sky's the limit because they had 130 yards on once again on 100 129 yards on 30 carries.
That's just something right there.
They passed for 248 yards.
It was 2032 of 24 so they had one interception in the game, so it was one interception.
Um, Southern Miss got, um, their quarterback got sacked twice in the in that game, so I'll be honest with you.
Now they third down efficiency.
Let's give you the third down.
See, they went seven for 12 last Saturday vs Louisiana Tech.
So this right here, this, um, seven for 12 was the highest number.
So if we can contain, um, there, Um um, get off the field on third down, we have to get off the field.
So that's the concerns right there.
Going into the game this coming Saturday.
Um, now they average they had 50%.
They went on fourth down, they had 50% average.
So I look at it this way.
They use 64 plays in their games.
Their time of possession.
They had the ball for 27 minutes, but Louisiana Tech out Had their outplay them about just about Maybe, about I say maybe about 45 close by, but maybe about 4.5 minutes.
Um, that was 32 for.
So let's give you something, Mrs.
Um, Quarterback Jack Abraham.
Last week he went 32 of 2024 32 to 64 here, 13 scores.
But he got sacked twice, but his quarterback great, it was high was extremely high versus, um um Look, look, Anthony, look, Anthony had a 1 68 he had a 1 69 rating, so he had ah, loss of 16.
So that's one thing you could get if you get two sacks off of Jack Abraham, the sky's the limit in that game.
Now the running game last, um, Saturday Ragsdale had, um, 5.
0 yards for average, so he had no touchdowns, but the only touchdown came from Perkins.
Hey, average seven carry in the game.
So that's one thing about it.
You have to contain Abraham Gore because Gore only had, like, a set.
Gora only had six carries for um, 39 yards in that game vs Louisiana Tech.
So that Z um, now the wide receiver call, Let's get rid their wide receiver breakdown.
So, wide receiver breakdown Jones had eight catches.
Hey, had two scores.
He was talking at nine times.
So that's the main target they're gonna go to every time.
Is, um um uh is Jones because he had nine catches last week.
Now, the next guy that they have is Brown.
He had five catches.
Those two guys Jones, Brownie, I think they're gonna be there, going to be the the arm.
There are the premier backs that's gonna make some catches in that game this Saturday.
So we're gonna have to contain those guys.
We're gonna have to put some on coverage, man, man, man to man coverage against their receivers because they're going to catch the ball.
That's one thing we have to do is stop getting those pass interference calls.
That's one thing we have to start doing.
Because, look, if we can't, um, do that, then hey, we'll give this game to them so we cannot do that.
So eso that's the stats right there for Southern Miss right there.
So let's break down their entire Let's give you a breakdown on the entire how they look.
Let's give you the breakdown.
Okay, let's give you that 2020 breakdown.
Okay? The averaging 25 points a game that ranked 35th in the FBS and also six in the in Conference USA so that their ranks six and Conference USA on scoring points with 25 points a game.
So they averaged 25 points.
Their defense only gives up 31 points a game that ranked fifth in the Conference USA, so their defense has kind of been giving up the points.
So that's the biggest concern going in.
That's the biggest, Um um, edge for two lane.
If we can get some a week and score points in that game versus seven myth, that will be because they give up 31 points and they're not that good giving up those 31 points.
They have to be concerned at the least that za concerns you gotta now.
They only scored 25 points.
Now there their yards a game.
They're totally gods for game.
They're only there, right, Um, 30th in the FBS and also fourth in the Conference USA.
They're in the top five when it comes to, um, yards per game.
Now they're rushing game.
They're ranked seventh in the conference, so they're kind of next toe last when it comes to that in the Conference USA.
When it run the football, they average 112 yards a game.
Verses there giving up 163 yards.
Uh, there ain't Tiffany on Conference USA.
That's Southern miss right there.
So that's because, um so when they give up 163 yards a game, that's just gonna That's gonna just gonna be the their downfall right there when they give up 163 yards a game.
So that's the biggest.
Um, the song is going into this football game.
Um, so if we can, um, come up and just piled up the yards and those guys because they're gonna power, they're gonna not They're gonna They're gonna start running the ball is Wow.
Now, um, let's give you the he got passing yards per game.
They're ranked second in the conference that they're good and passing the football.
So there are in the Conference USA, the ranked 14th in the FBS.
So that's pretty good on those numbers right there.
Now, on defense of side of the football that ranked eighth eso they're kind of the past.
Defense is kind of enigma right there.
So That's one thing for sure.
They're ranked 46 in the FBS when it comes to those numbers.
So, Frank Gore in this past, um, it is rushing.
He got 71 yards rushing.
Percocet 65 Ragsdale at 63.
Now Jones has 299 yards.
Um, after two games, um, Brownie has 81 the Marcus Jones has 63 for the Southern Miss Golden Eagle.
So the last time these two teams played there was in the, um, um on forces ball, where we just absolutely destroyed them.
We just absolutely had a had our way against them last time we played them in the bowl game.
So it's gonna be a timely, different situation.
We're all playing them up up in Hattiesburg.
So So let's go ahead and give you a rundown on two lane.
I'm gonna go ahead and give you a rundown on two lane.
We stop this screen and give you a rundown on two lane.
I'll give you a rundown on two lane.
Okay, Two lane in scoring offense.
Um, they averaged 25 points a game, so two lanes averaging 25 points a game.
15 the American Conference, but also give up 25 points on defense.
So that Z um 25th in the FBS and also fifth in the American Conference there now on yards per game.
Lane is averaging 372 yards a game.
That's 33rd in the F.
So that's pretty good.
And fifth in the American Conference.
So that's in the top five right there.
When you come when it comes down to it Now the rushing yards a game to life, right for up in the in the American Conference, 15th in the FBI.
See? Averaging 234 yards a game now, um, in passing yards, two lanes, right, six.
So we have to get better on our passing game.
We're ranked 43rd in the A A C F B I s and six in the A C.
So that's the offensive breakdown right there.
Now let's give you the defense of breakdown.
Um, we'll give you the defense of breakdown on yards.
Two lanes ranked off in the A A C giving up yards.
That's 362 yards a game, 26 in the FBS Now on the rushing yards.
Two lanes, right, Four so forth Best, um, defense in the a a c Also, FBS um, they're ranked 25th.
So they're in the top five when it comes toe that giving up a run run run yards now pass yards two lane is on.
Once again, rank fell in passing and then 30th in the FBS so that SSM situations that z playing in this team.
So that's one thing we have to do is, um Let's give you the turnover margin.
I'm gonna give you the I'm gonna give you the numbers right now.
Two lanes averaging 41st downs a game, 39.
Giving up opponents of 39 to line.
Gets most of their first downs on runs.
Um, that's the That's the sign of the town's right there with the runs.
But the third down efficiency was absolutely, and I mean absolutely trash giving up three.
Going three of 23 for 13%.
It's not going to get you nowhere because this is we have to be better on third down.
We absolutely have to be better on third down when it comes to those situations.
We have to be better. Now.
We're three of seven on fourth down conversions.
That's good for 40 for 42% now, net yards were averaging 700 over 700 yards.
Um, in the last two games, we averaged 141 place.
We have 468 yards rushing on 84 carry.
So we run the ball 84 times in games 84 times.
And when they passed the football, Um, let's see, we only passed the football about 55 times a game, so we only pass on 55 run 84 times.
So we're going to run the ball.
That's our bread and butter right there, running the football when it comes to the young situations with that, So I don't get it this way.
We're gonna have to have a better running game.
Then we had last week.
We had a We had a good running game against, um, Navy.
Last week we averaged.
Um, let's see what? Look at the numbers.
We did have 204 yards rushing.
302 165 yards vs Navy.
Excuse me, 265 yards, 6.
0 So that was a little bit better last week.
But we strive for better.
That's one thing we strive for. It's better.
We strive for better.
That's what we dio.
Um, let's give you those drives.
Let's give you those drives in the game.
Last week, we had a touchdown.
Can Carol hit the first touchdown? And then, um, that watch, um had a three yard running and canned Carol in the second quarter.
So this 24 nothing lead we should have never.
And I mean never give up because Nelson Smith was there with their battering ram.
He scored those two touchdowns in the third quarter, and then Michael Cooper had a touchdown in that game vs.
So that was in the fourth quarter.
I was at the 1 36 mark, um, that game.
So they outscored us 11 to nothing.
So that's one thing we're gonna have to stop doing is being outscored in those games.
When you look at it, because if you don't if we don't do it, then it's gonna happen over and over and over again.
We don't need that.
We have to be better.
We have to be better this week.
I mean, the performance last week was absolutely ****ty in the second half.
I hate to say it, and no kidding aside.
So once again, let's go ahead and break down the Southern Miss tape.
I'm gonna break down the tape from last Saturday.
I'm gonna go ahead and give you those ****ysis.
I'm gonna give you that ****ysis from that game last Saturday, so I'm gonna break down the tape, go ahead and pull tape up or pull the tape up from last Saturday.
We're gonna go to the first play of the game, gonna rewind it fast forward to the first play.
Instead, it's dumped off to We'll run into the I'm gonna run the first play eso nice or pass play by Southern this to start off their first, um, drive in the first quarter.
That was at the 12. 40.
That was on 2nd and 4th.
So he gets it to his receiver.
So, Jack Abraham, that's one thing you have tow contain this those pass plays.
So let's go to another play.
DaMarcus s So this is on first This is on 3rd and 10.
This is where, uh, Jack Abraham gets really a lethal here.
So this is what happens.
So he has his wide receivers.
Eso I'm gonna point my arrows.
We have one with two wide receivers to you, right? And then one back in the backfield.
So they're gonna because they're gonna be, um um Louisiana Tech runs those, um, those linemen.
So they're running those those Lyman's is up to the lines.
So let's see what happens here showing its third eso They will throw that screenplay that, um, Frank Gore.
So he's gonna go to the left side, so he's going to get the third come, let's see what happens.
So Frank Gore gets that first down, so that's on the screen.
Play right there.
So that's a pretty good, um, penetration against that Louisiana Tech, um, defense.
So that's a concern right there for the two lane defense.
We cannot let that happen.
We have toe the we have toe kind of contain those screen passes.
If you could contain those screen passes, you'll be fine, Frank.
God makes it nice.
Look past, uh So this is on fourth and seven, right? here.
I'm gonna pause it a few times.
Fourth and seven.
Let's play this.
This is, um, Jack Abraham, back in the shot.
Once again, One back in the backfield.
Eso They're gonna run the screenplay to the right this time.
So they're gonna hit that pass play to the right this time, so he's gonna throw it Thio that robbed receiver that's coming in on this side.
I'm gonna put a point, our right at it.
So he's gonna get that pass.
It's going to go to him so that he's going going to go to him on that.
And that's Frank Gore once again.
So once again, we are seeing two sides that he got the screen pass, one on the left and one on the right.
So that's one thing we have to be concerned about.
Its those, um, abilities for Southern Mr Throw those past place.
That's the concerns we're gonna be coming into going into this game this Saturday at the Rock Thio space and nowhere near the first down play by the Barnett coverage that time.
But it was a good defensive play by Louisiana Tech, so that was a good defensive play takeover s So this is on Louisiana Tech.
Siri's. They're going to run their three.
Uh, they're four down linemen, so they're gonna run the four down linemen.
1234 So that's four on the line right there.
They're running, and they're gonna, um it's gonna be Henderson again, able to break it to the side s.
So that was a good penetration by Louisiana Texas Henderson to get the get some yards right there.
So it was a good penetration going into that situation.
Still picks up close to 10 yards running off.
That left a total of 16.
So this is on second and three second and three situation.
Louisiana Tech runs 123 four five.
So they're gonna have their their these lines, these linebackers, they're gonna be ready.
Thio, um, get ready for that.
Come in on that blitz.
I got this defensive line has to come in and block this whole entire.
So let's see what happens on this play.
Last year started at Marshall.
You'll be here is so nice.
Pass blood right there so they will penetrate against the, um, defensive plays of seven minutes.
So that was on second and three.
So Louisiana Tech gets that reception right there for a first down.
Pass it this year, and it's on the money for a first down into Southern Miss Territory.
What has? Okay, they're They're running a three down linemen, so they're gonna run those three down linemen.
So that's the concern that's gonna be going into this game versus the Golden Eagles.
They're gonna run three down linemen.
So you have to adjust to that.
We have to adjust to it.
You'll see that quarterback more.
So five just rose reception so that they will penetrate against that.
So nice little reception.
But, um, Louisiana Tech against the Southern Miss Defense.
Harris, who stays inbounds along the sideline, wrapped up at the 30 yard line.
So this is on third and tense situation, so once again, they'll run there.
Therefore, the 123 Ford, And that's gonna be five right here.
This is gonna be there.
They're gonna put people in the in that box right there.
So I'm gonna tell you key on Howard.
It's gonna have toe adjust to those, um, coverages because they're gonna run, eat of man or they're gonna need to run.
Um, blitz or they're either gonna run three down.
They're gonna go either Four downs.
Thanks for the apple set.
Nice little, uh, pass play right there.
So that was against the defense.
So there was running.
That was, uh, there was running an empty set place.
So that was just an empty set.
Play for Louisiana.
They almost got there.
But Allen gets the pass away, and it's called for a first down by Adrien Hardy.
Everybody's going for it, huh? So this did Didn't get it.
At least he had a tech.
So Louisiana, Texas, you have snakes right into that to that line and gets the first down.
So here's the thing.
If we could do that, that will help us in the long run.
That would help us in long run.
It looks like they did get it. Justin Henderson.
That spin at second effort may have been enough to reach the nine yard line s So this is on third and gold situation.
We'll put their line 123 or that's four.
And then you got your 67 and then get your your backers in this area right here.
This area right here, This this they're having a, uh, depend their ears back.
So this is what they're doing.
So this is what they did on this place.
So it's some See what this play happened, Helen.
So elsewhere, right over that middle.
So they had their their their coverage waiting for that path so they would throw it right at number 80.
So he is to attend the target.
And so he get it in for the touchdown right there.
So that was their first touchdown right there for seven Louisiana Tapatio, who had six touchdown catches a year ago.
Louisiana Tech on the board in blood test.
So this is once again Louisiana Southern, Miss, back on offense, shotgun formation.
They're gonna run the shots every time they're gonna run 11 running back there to get a wide receivers here on the left side of your screen and all the things that go along with it.
And then one back going emotion.
Jack Abraham rolling out here first.
So he throws a nice reception to number five right there, so he's gonna hit it.
Number five so he throwing towards that sideline.
So it was a good pass play on that sideline.
There was a good sideline pass has passed.
Pulled in first down by Tim Jones s.
Oh, this is once again on first intense.
So they're calling the place so that he's calling for the football.
He's gonna go play accident, Abraham.
So that was a deep ball right there.
So that was in a play action pass right there.
So So that was a play action fake right there.
And he just overthrew his man.
So that was a good defensive effort by the Louisiana Tech defense.
So that on the play fake Jones A.
But what it did, uh, what, 47 of the defense.
But it did result in the first down, so we gotta avoid those roughing the passer.
Penalty is we have toe avoid them.
I mean, what because last week we had some We had some targeting calls in that game versus Navy, so we have one of our players got disqualified.
I mean, we got to avoid those situations we can't but that happen again this week versus, um, seven ness saw the flag.
I thought, Oh, are they getting them seeing Pete Arvin Fletcher Way too many steps.
They're gonna hold off one.
So this is on the 31 situation, so I'm gonna keep pausing it every five seconds.
So once again, 31 trying to get set up so they will try to run off.
So number three, that's Ragsdale.
So Ragsdale going through the lines right there.
So Ragsdale, he had a nice run right there, so that was a 31 for rag style.
So they will use them on those 30 short situations, um, in the game.
So that's one thing in common.
We have to prevent those authored and one's from ever happening on defense.
And I'm pretty sure Coach Curtis will have something.
It plan for the Southern Miss offense.
So next they'll picks up the first down 25.
It just didn't seem like the Bulldogs really were ever set there.
So this is on once again.
37 shotgun formation, one back in the backfield.
Eso a nice little blitz part Louisiana Tech.
But they Southern Miss picked up the blitz pretty well and they just throw the reception right there for the reception on passes.
You called it Mike Jones on the catch down inside the 15.
So that when you when you have a Blitch coverage like that, you gotta change it up because they're gonna pick it up.
They're definitely going to pick it up.
And that was a big game for Mike Jones on that reception.
Yeah, so that's the concern right there.
I mean, sure, you got to know what your blitz coverages are.
If you if you're gonna put eight men in the box, put eight men in the box, that kinda confuse them.
But if you put five, guess what? He's gonna throw that pass, and that's gonna That's gonna be a big game.
So that z go through the film.
Okay, this is on a goal line situation for Southern this second goal.
So that once again, lined up in the I formation to backs in the backfield.
Um, so Louisiana Tech is running there.
Have that goal line package.
Come again? Where? They tried to hit Jones on second goal.
They're gonna run. It s o number 33.
I'm gonna tell you that that that guy's a beast right there.
Um seven mess and it's a touchdown.
That's Parkins, right? That Parkins, that's another running back you have to contain is Kevin Perkins.
Because he's gonna just burn you on an essay.
He will just burn you.
I mean, I just I'm very concerned about this young man, Kevin Perkins.
Also Gore and brag style been Perkins from a couple of yards out and a chance for Southern Miss to tie the game.
Okay, this is once again seven.
Miss running a three down lineman's right there.
They're running three down linemen on a shotgun formation.
Um, Henderson, the running back.
He's off to a great start s.
So that's why they had some good yardage right there against those three down linemen.
So they had some good yardage.
Um, Louisiana Tech.
So he gets a nice little run right there so that Z Henderson s So he gets in for the first down. So nice.
So they're gonna run those three down linemen.
So what you do in those three down linemen, um, switch up.
All you gotta do is just run, get the ball to either Jones or Cam Cameron and and? And we can just get some yards like that.
So that's that would be my biggest.
Um um, goal for this game.
Um, just Saturday.
And he's got a first down check in with Lord that.
So this is a shotgun formation.
So they're gonna run there.
They're gonna put people in the box.
They're gonna have 123 eso.
So they're crowding up the line right there.
So the lines crowded up right here.
So these individuals right here on this line of scrimmage so they're back in that shotgun again.
This is on third and four, so let's see what happens.
They are massive, and they get on the move pretty well.
Third and four, Alan, with a ton of time, everybody covered.
So Alan takes off and is able to find s own.
I saw run by locale in a nice little penetration by him against the Southern Miss Defense.
Pick up the first down 40.
So Alan would get that.
So this is another alignment right here.
So someone miss for 1123 or so before down Lineman's right there.
So they're running therefore down package again.
So in the linebackers in this area right here.
So these are the linebackers.
Cornerbacks? Um, secondary, um, pen back.
So this is on 1st and 10 positive covitz.
So that's pretty much dropped him out of the race.
So they don't throw that pass right there, so don't throw it to the wide receiver right there.
So he had some time, so he had a nice low effort right there.
Stepping up in the pocket is Allen has a completion, a bird and a bear able to pick up the first down before he planted.
Okay, this is on.
They'll run that three down.
Lineman's once more, so they're back in the three down linemen set again.
So this is another play that they put in.
This is their design plays for defense.
So that's what we're showing you, Ellen.
With time again, taking a shot down on feet, you hear on.
It s so that was a good defensive play by seven, Miss.
So that's just, um but they did get a flag against them. So it was.
I think that was passed interference in that game.
So job by Scott, there is a penalty marker down.
I think they're going to get Scott for interference.
The ball was a little under throws.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He Scott, I'm gonna tell you, he's a good defensive back right there.
So that was his mistake right there.
Um, on that pass interference call back and he's just running through him.
When the ball is thrown behind like that, the receiver tries to go back to it s Oh, this is on.
Once again, this is Southern Miss once again on the three down linemen, so they will have three down linemen and everybody is, um, back waiting for pass coverage.
So they were going to expect the past here.
They're definitely going to expect the pass on this coverage.
That's what they're expecting right there.
So that's why everybody is backed up about maybe about a few yards back so they'll keep the three down Lineman's in, But But they don't get the run place. So they did.
They were suspected the path, but they was calling a run play right there.
That would be a run play against the three down lineman's.
Here is the first attack.
It's run by Israel.
Tucker spun down here.
Okay, this is on third and gold situation once again.
Louisiana Tech, Back in the shotgun.
Miss running their one of their there's number 12.
This is Scotty right here, Covering, um, the Louisiana Tech live receiver.
So he's covering him, and then they would go.
123 and then, um, one coverage guy right here in the 25% capacity.
Third gold gets hit, he throws, and it's incomplete.
So nice defensive coverage by, uh, that was intended for Howard's right there when I passed flight.
So there was throwing past place against that coverage.
Harris couldn't hang on.
So a 28 yard attempt.
We're gonna move this over, and it's good.
So once again, this is from this is 1st and 10 Southern Miss.
Shotgun formation one.
Back in the backfield.
Every, um, wide receivers are spread out Now.
Louisiana Tech will run they once again, they'll run their three down linemen is coming in.
So they'll run their three down linemen on this line of scrimmage right up in this area.
Everybody else is back.
So let's see what happens in this play.
Why, when it's that hot, humid, too in Mississippi.
But that taste really good, so they'll throw it to the middle.
All pass play against the three down coverage of Louisiana attack.
So you got to put some coverage.
You gotta put maybe seven, um, seven men in the box or maybe eight men in the box.
That kind of making up your coverage is you have to switch your defensive coverages, because if you don't, they're going to get those passes off at every single time.
So that's what we're looking at right there.
That's the concerns.
That's what Louisiana Tech did.
They went three and they just got their guards.
They got past yard.
It's so that's one thing in common.
Look, you have to you have tow switch up.
You absolutely have to switch up your coverages.
Because if you are going those threes, they're gonna pick that up every time, and they're gonna just some have a play for it.
The pocket wide open receiver free.
That's that's not an individual way.
Don't want to see.
That's another individual.
We don't want to see um, getting those first downs.
So let's get back and switch to Sorry about that set up with that run game grab from 35 yards out for the three.
So I had to rewind it back to this Tim Jones touchdown that we're gonna be walking on, and they just give it straight ahead.
Tucker able to get the first down to the 30 a half yard shot.
Perkins in there.
Okay, this is on fourth and one right here for from one situation.
They would get the sneak in for the first down so they would get it, But they do snap it.
And, boy, did he get it with help from Perkins on the push.
Clothe e Don't know why I pressed the wrong button.
I just pressed the wrong button pressure.
Okay, this is on second a tense situation.
You've got three, um, wide receivers, um, to your arm.
So they're going to our three wide receiver set, and then they will have one back in the backfield, so they will have the one back in the back field.
That would be second in 10 situation.
Second down and 10 now, at the 30 six eso Abraham would run that run that ball so he would run that ball and he would get some yards down so that that's on.
Wide receiver sat.
So that's on three wide receivers and one back in the backfield.
So he will get that run playoff right there inside the 30 and dies for the first down.
Okay, this is on second and non situation.
Um, looks like they're going to be running their 123 or five people in there.
So and then they have six.
So they had their people in there, so it looks like the boxes stacked up eso they'll run.
It s so nice with defensive play by Southern Miss.
So they did read their coverage.
There was going to throw a screen, but it was going going to be a pick right there.
So it was a pick on that play.
Get into the air and it is picked off, Intercepted by Hall, who takes it back in the Southern Miss territory off three direction for the D lineman.
You gotta love when the big uglies get a ball like that.
That was a good tip up right there.
So that was a good tip up.
I like what the defense did against that Southern.
This offense is just tipped that ball up and get the pick six.
That's one thing we have to do in our on our end.
Let's get those tip ups.
Because if we could get those tip ups, guess what that will result in a turnover in that get in the game.
So we have to be more consistent on our defensive end of the football when it comes to that situation.
Then he takes off.
Okay, this is on once again.
3rd and 10 7, miss um, has, um, looks like one to 345 67 So everybody So that z everybody's on the 4 4,000,004 players on the line.
One linebacker and then your cornerbacks covering these.
So Scotty was Let's see where he was not. He was right.
And this looks like he's writing his area number eight for seven. Mrs.
So let's see what happens on this play.
Anthony to the air.
Steps up takes off.
So, Anthony, nice little run by Anthony to get the first down.
So you got it on 3rd and 10 as a first down to the 35? Yep.
So this is once again another three down linemen situation for Southern Miss, or they'll run that three down, um, package again.
They'll have their people sitting back with the number 46 back then.
Number six there.
They're lining up there, ready for pass.
This is like, um so let's see how they snap that football s so nice or snap right there.
So he hands it off and you throw a deep ball.
Right Here s so nice for deep ball by, um, look, Anthony, against that Southern Miss Defenders number 18 and number 25 19 and 25 was on that coverage.
So I'll be honest with you.
That was a nice little past.
Smoke Paris When the adjustment and the over the shoulder touchdown grab for 35 yards out with the three.
Had to slow up for the ball defender again.
Never looks back.
Well, run play. This is a good line.
The lines was, um so their offensive line was absolutely blocking on this run.
Play right here.
So the offensive line, What's blocking eso? Parker's wouldn't get a big game right there.
So Parker's would get a big up.
We he would get close to the first down marker, so that was a big game right there.
Close to that marker.
Huge plane picks up nine yards. Missed.
Okay, this is on once again.
First intense shotgun formation.
Perkins in the backfield.
Um, two wide receivers to your right, Uh, to your left, right, I'm looking at that screen.
So? So they're running a too wide receiver set.
So that's what there was running, um, to your lap.
It's too wide receiver sets, and they would get a run play right here off that run.
So Parker's would get those yards because Parkins is one of those, um, he's one of those bruising backs for Southern this.
So I'm gonna tell you that's gonna be a problem for the two lane defense is, um, containment about Kevin Perkins.
They're running back.
Also core and Ragsdale.
That's That's two individuals you can't forget about on those, um, on the Southern Miss teen to the outside and into Louisiana Tech territory.
£240 running back on.
And that's that.
That 200 he has £245 solid.
Um, we had we had guys like that.
We had We had guys like that.
We had Don tro here.
You that with another guy? Um, for two lane, that was Ah, Bruiser.
Ah, Frozen back.
So this is on once again, 2nd 11.
once again, Louisiana Tech running at three down Lyman's again and then everybody back.
I'm waiting for now.
You've got a three, um, wide receivers on this on the right side.
This is on your right.
We're showing you the right, um, the Lyman's air in this area.
So let's see, that ball is snapped.
We're watching it minutes ago.
So nice will snap so he hands the ball for Southern Miss and looks like it s so now Gore Gore is another guy.
Gore will get you some yours.
So that's another individual right there.
That two lanes gonna have to contain.
It's found Frank Gore a lot room on the right side, breaking tackles inside the 30 and steps out around the 22.
Got almost 30 yards on that pickup in 11 30 yards in that game.
So that's one thing we have toe aboard those 30 yard games.
Those big plays.
Because if you have those big plays, guess what? They're gonna have them all night long.
So that's what we have to do in this game this Saturday.
We have to be more consistent when it comes to those run plays.
Uh, not give a mock.
Okay, this is once again this is from 2nd 11 for the 12 yard line.
Um, once again, um, Louisiana Tech one.
I'm a county style linemen.
123 so one, um, covered.
So these are the lineman on the line of scrimmage.
Season three down.
This is the individuals coming in on this side.
They're ready, toe.
So So you have you have two of them on that line right there.
So you have to line ones right there.
And then you have your linebackers right here and then you're running back your head.
Um, looks like Parker's back there again.
So Parkins was back in that backfield once.
Once again, Abraham taking a shot here.
Not the way defensive effort bus.
So he took the shot into the end zone on 2nd and 11.
So they're gonna take those shots on 2nd 11.
It doesn't matter how how much the down is.
They're going to take those shots.
So my concern is is we have toe play Those guys, Um I mean, don't get a pass interference or nothing like that.
That's what the defense have to do.
It's not, um, a lot of those second 11th turning toe turn into scores at the last second look like Antoine Robinson.
Look at that, Right.
That was a nice one throw by Jack Abraham because he could hum the football.
Now, he threw it to Robinson right there.
So he was the intended target.
Robinson? Yeah, right with Southern mess.
He just He lost it as he was rolling out of bounds.
So this is once again Louisiana Tech running there.
Everybody back waiting for expecting a past situations.
So that's what they're expecting on 3rd and 11 point game.
3rd and 11 for Southern Miss Abraham.
Well, defensive play.
But they came in with some good, um, pressure on Jack Abraham.
So if we could get some pressure on Jack Abraham, that would be a good, um, thank for us on our defensive side of the football for two lane in the pocket and sat at the 20 yard line by Eric 10.
So they kicked a field goal in this situation right here.
Right? Todo so Louisiana Tech.
So this is Ah, Lok Anthony.
Throwing past this is on 35.
Nice old class play right there.
So they penetrated the defense on that on that situation.
But they do pick it up on a strike to smoke Harris from Luke Anthony to move the sticks out of the 37 yard long.
So this is, um, Southern.
So they're running the alignments right here.
So everybody is on this line, but everybody back waiting for a pass play.
Um, these are wide receivers.
They have 123 four.
So it would be a four wide receiver set, so they're going back to the four wide receiver set.
Um, there, cause and then one back in the back fields, they will have one block and back, So run play s so that would be a run play right there.
So it will be a nice little run play by Louisiana Tech moving a £220.
Attack. 49 yard line.
They're going to run it here.
They got fresh legs.
Gardner breaking attached.
So nice little run by Gardner against the Southern s defense.
So they had to have 2123 individuals getting down.
So they're gonna have some problems.
So no Garner inside the 30 all the way down to the 26 yard line way had not seen Garner all game on the bottom of the screen here and going to run it.
They're they're gonna run a run.
Play up the middle, So nice little penetration.
Um, off the tackles.
So nice will run right there.
This is on Gardner getting the third and two situation.
So he's getting that first down for Southern, Miss.
Sorry about that.
Able to get the first down in the first half.
Okay, Once again, this is what we're looking at right here.
This is the four wide receiver set right here.
Four wide receivers sets these air your sets right here.
These four wide receivers, um, going on etcetera.
These 1234 So that was one of four wide receivers sat here and then it would have one running back here.
So there will be a one running back.
Four wide receiver set situation.
There's that same formation on second and six in the same play.
Howell on the catch, and he's pushed out of bounds.
Looked like he'll be short.
So this is once again this is on today.
Running the shotgun formation and gold from the five.
Trailing by six.
One back going to right handed off.
Gardner is stood up at four Louisiana.
So good defensive play by Louisiana Tech.
But day on, that was on fourth and goal situation.
The Tech will use its final time out boy at the end there.
Scott with the soup, Lex.
But they're not gonna throw the flag there.
I'm looking for a pass play.
This is, um, seven, mrs.
Um So it miss will run one to 34 And then you're linebackers your linebackers in your secondaries in this side on some scrolling them down.
So seconds left will be the final play.
Anthony from the pocket steps up, throws back of the end zone part.
Did he get a foot down? No, they say incomplete.
Abe did not get a foot down, but that that that was a call right there.
They have to touch down on that play.
So? So Louisiana Tech won that game 31 30.
So that was the controversial play of the weekend for Southern Miss in Louisiana Tech.
So I'll be honest with you.
Look, if we could have some place like that, then that would be a lot of excitement.
So once again, Thistle is concludes our film study session, uh, of the Southern Miss Golden Eagles last, um, Saturday even, uh, they want lost 31 30.
So let's give you the breakdown on the game.
I'm gonna give you the young point spread breakdown.
So let's give you a point spread breakdown, and then we'll wrap this up for We've been out of that 11 hour and a half.
So So we've been added about an hour, so I'm gonna give you a point spread ****ysis on them. Okay.
Let's give you those betting trends.
Um, end up friends was giving those going into this game give you the end up friends on both teams.
Uh, two Lane is five and one in their last six games following the 80 s loss.
Also two lanes five and one of the last six games.
Um, that's following a straight up law.
So that would be also two lanes 13 and three in their last 16 games on Terp.
Also four and one with a losing record and also nine and three versus Conference USA opponents.
So this is what we're talking about.
In the last 12 games, they're nine and three verses Conference USA opponents now two.
Lane is 83 against the spread in their last 11 games, Um, after ac***ulating less than 770 yards on previous games.
Also two lanes 83 as a favorite in their last 11.
Also two lanes five and two in their last seven games, um, against nonconference opponents and also one and four in their last road game.
This is not a good record right here on the road now, 80 s rocket to Linus, um, three and zero in their last four games in the month of September.
So the last four games, also under their six and zero versus um, Conference USA in their last seven, Also in the over that five and one in the last six with teams with losing records.
Also in the under two, Lane is also 41 and one in the last six overall.
Also two Lane is also ate and two in their last 10 games after ac***ulate less than 170 yards passing in previous games.
Also two lanes four and one in their last five games after Cuban waiting more than 200 yards rushing in the previous game.
So they had to 65 last week against Navy.
So, therefore, and one in the under also uh too late is 41 and one after allowing 100 yards in their previous games.
Also two lanes, 411 on Terp, also 31 and one as a favorite and also 23 8.
Um, in the last 32 games, Um, after allowing 280 yards a game now, two lane in the over is 22 8 in the last 30 games after allowing 170 yards in previous games.
Also two Lane is 11 and four in the last 15 games after allowing 200 yards in their previous games and also five and two.
So this is from covers dot com.
This is their breakdown.
So let me give you their Southern Miss trends.
I'll give you seven Mrs Trends it over and under trends.
Okay, seven Mrs Forum one in their last five as they rode underdogs that they're going to be an underdog in this game.
Also seven and 21 2 in their last 30 after allowing more than 280 yards now that one and four in their last five after ac***ulating 288 yards in a previous games.
Also, Southern Miss is one and four in the last five after straight up losses, also one and four in last five as an underdog, also 14 in their last nine conference games.
Also, Southern Miss is one and four with UM a one and records.
So teams with winning records also there.
Oh, and five in their last five overall, also oh, and five in their last five games after ac***ulating more than 100 yards less than 100 yards.
Also, Golden Eagle says Oh, and four in their last four games after allowing more than 450 yards a game.
And also Southern Miss is, um oh, and four of their last four games the month of September.
So this is their trends.
The over and under go ahead and go over the over and under trends.
Um, pull this up.
Sports something Mrs Something Mrs Over 40 in their last four games after ac***ulating less than 100 yards rushing in previous games.
Also in the under their 40 um, in their last game after ac***ulating more than 280 yards.
Also in the, uh, they're six is they're on their last, um, six games after allowing more than 450 yards in previous games.
Also, and, um, their last eight games.
This is seven and one overall.
This is also four and one in their last five games after, um, 80 s losses.
So that's after 80 s losses.
Also, seven myths is four and one, um, last five games, um, with double digit losses at home.
Also, Southern Miss is four and one in their last five after straight up losses.
Also therefore, um, one in their last five on terp.
Also, um, in their last five um, versus change with one of rockets.
Um, last 89 conference games.
Southern, Mr Six.
And to also Southern Mr Six and Two in their last eight home games.
So they got a pretty good record there.
Also in the under Southern Mrs 19 to 7 their last 26 games after allowing 280 yards in previous games.
So that is just how they break it down.
And this is the betting trends.
We use these all the time Thio to give you and then depth.
Look at this two lane and Southern Miss Siri's.
So let's go ahead and give you the point spread.
So I'm gonna go ahead and give you the point spread.
Break down the odds in this game, okay? We'll give you the odds from this game so I don't give you those sides right now.
I'm gonna go to the odds.
What was odds? A foyer.
I'll give you the odds in just a second on a seven missing.
Um, Southern Miss and two Lane.
See if we grab him.
Look got in odds on trying to work with odds on the sovereign.
This game, but okay, the odds and Southern Miss, I'm gonna give you the line movements in this game, and we go ahead and give you those line movements.
Okay? Line movements are on the screen.
Okay, The line movements, as of right now, Um, so far so good.
Two lane is a three point favorites.
So the three point favorite going in so three point favorite by bad 3 65 is just 3.
5 draft King says that the 3.
5 also fan do Some of them has a 2.5.
So Monday was 2.
Now that America is that 3.5.
Um, also points on bet.
5 a swell that went 3.
5 around nine o'clock.
Um, eight oclock this morning.
Eight o'clock Central also ate 46.
They went, um, Now William Hill has a 3.
5, so I'm looking at this game.
I'm kinda gonna say if two lane comes out the gate early and often don't below your leaves.
Don't blow your leads.
And don't give any place you can win this game.
I could say about four.
I say most likely be by four point victory.
I won't take the the street.
I'll take it straight up, but I won't take it in the over and under.
But it might be a shootout game.
If you're asked if it does get into a shootout, then so be it. It is what it is.
It might be a shootout.
We might win by four.
