We're going to be discussing the Green Bay Packers upcoming week to week to match up against the Detroit lines.
But before we get into that, let's recap the Week one performance by the Green Bay Packers Green Bay Packers had a fantastic game against the Minnesota Vikings, resulting in a win with the final score 43 to 34.
Green Bay as last year started off one.
And no, they are want to know as well this season. Sam.
What were your main takeaways from that Packers Vikings game? Week one.
Rogers is back to hopefully his old self.
Rogers played like an MVP caliber quarterback, and I met was telling you before we went on the air.
My friend texted our group chat after that game and said, Rogers, Mahomes is gonna be a very interesting NDP M V P race and Mahomes played OK, um, but obviously like, there's no question that he is still the best right now.
But Rogers went off and you were right on that.
Rogers had a like, You said Rogers was gonna have a field day, and he did.
And I also said that the font, like they were going to take advantage of that, having those young corners three of their five, actually two of their five.
Because Cameron dancing, I ended up starting.
Two of their backups were rookies Harrison Hand and first round pick Jeff Gladney.
Mike Zimmer, praise.
Can dance look pretty quick and pretty early, Um, and towards the end of training camp, he liked his versatility a lot when we talked about that when we were breaking down the Vikings off season.
Um, but yeah, and Rogers is the real deal I love.
I love Lazard, but let's start with Rogers.
Through this wall.
Might take for Rogers.
Having a field day went up to fruition.
I mean, 364 yards, four touchdowns, zero picks that that that that was a vintage Rogers game right there.
That was a game where, you know, it reminded me of 2016.
Aaron Rodgers, when he said he was gonna run the table, reminded me as well as 2017 Rogers before the collarbone injury happened.
And, you know, it was great to see, you know, throughout the whole first game, I had a smile on my face just because this was the best offensive performance in this Matt LaFleur era that I've ever seen.
I mean, we saw pretty much all of last year.
We were consistent for one half.
We also have a good first half or bad first half or a good second half.
They're really kind of wasn't ah, full integrated game where We had a perfect game and that game against Minnesota, we had 10 possessions scored on 70% of our possessions.
It was overall, a solid game.
I mean, Sam and I pretty much hit it on our predictions.
We both said Rogers and Adams, we're gonna be great.
Rogers targeted Adams 17 times Adam Scott, 14 for 1 56 and got a touchdown.
Could have had to, you know, if Adams didn't drop the goal line, Uh, catch on fourth and goal would have to scores.
But overall, it was a fantastic performance, obviously, going up against Detroit, you know, it's gonna be one of those where we could potentially see another good game from Aaron Rodgers.
But, you know, I just hope we keep that up throughout the whole season, you know, whenever reversed in New Orleans, Saints in Week three, whenever reversed, Tampa Bay in Week six or the Niners and Week nine for Thursday night game.
I just want to see your offense be consistent and overall opening week.
It was a great thing to see, you know, and I also love how the floor balanced the running backs.
You know, you pretty much saw all three backs play.
You know, you saw Aaron Jones, the main guy, get himself to touchdown.
Got some good carries.
You saw Jamal Williams utilized in those short yardage situations and in the catching situations, you even saw A J.
Dillan and as well, A J.
Dillan got a couple carries in.
I loved how the floor a balanced out the running backs.
It didn't seem like one was more prioritized over the other.
It seemed like they were used pretty evenly.
And when it kind of got down to the fourth quarter, they kind of just used their guy Erin Jones in whenever they needed a big play.
So, overall, I felt like it was a fantastic performance by by the Green Bay Packers.
The one main highlight that I saw for one of the rookies was the block made by Josiah Day Guara, where it was either a second or the first or second down play, and he made a perfect block.
Knocked down Vikings players would help Alan Lazar to get a first down, and we were driving it down the field, which I believe resulted in a touchdown.
A couple plays later.
Overall, seeing a 43 spot we have, I believe throughout week one, we have the highest score with 43 points throughout the first week.
And, you know, it was a great performance.
I loved what I saw.
Like I said before, I smiled, watching the whole game.
Just because I'm all like all these people doubted Rogers, all these people doubted that he didn't have weapons and or weapons pulled through.
You know, the main guy that I was very impressed with was Marquez valid scanning, you know, when he made when he made those tight, heavily contested throws.
I remember the 45 yard catch that he made, you know, to put the Packers up 22 to 10 at the half.
You know, Rodgers threw it perfectly, but you also need a receiver to catch the ball because we've seen time and time again where ah Q B could have a perfect throw, but then the receiver drops it.
But NBS made a made a great contested catch along the goal line, made a great catch for the touchdown and, you know, overall MPs had a good performance, you know, he did have he did have to bad drops you know, he did have a third and six drop where was wide open, and Rogers did, though, of perfect 60 yard pass and and NBS didn't catch up to it.
Other than that overall or receivers had a pretty good game.
You know, I loved what I saw.
I loved what I saw in Al Mazar, even though he got limited targets.
He did very good with his limited targets, got a touchdown and the S did great.
Almost had 100 yards, and it was a fantastic offensive performance.
And I hope we keep that up for a week two against the Detour Alliance, which then brings up to our next topic of this discussion.
Believe the Green Bay Packers were fair up against the alliance.
And I'll direct that question to you, Sam.
So before we start just a few points to kind of topple off what your what? You ended with the Vikings on um, a J. Dillan.
He only had two carries.
It was two carries for Well, everything was 14 yards.
Um, and the floor.
He was impressed, like with those two carries.
He was He did well when he was given the opportunity, he said, Um, in the press conference later in the week that he wants to get him or involved in Week two against Alliance.
The next one was to Guara, and I love that we have weapons that exceeding blocking you mentioned those years Josiah, Jaguar, a hit, um, even Alan Lazard.
And like the blocking ability is something that a lot of receivers kind of struggled to stay consistent with and like.
It's very crucial for us. Toe have that.
And, um, Alan Wizard played well.
I think it was four receptions for what? 60 60 60 60 yards and a touchdown.
I think it was on then.
Lastly, um, I was impressed with MVS, and NBS is the fastest receive around his team.
And even Rogers was saying and talking about him a few weeks ago, before week one A to press conference.
And he said, Ah, lot of it is his confidence, and I think we've had conversations about this before and I think a lot of that goes on in his head and he had that nice catch and my first thought was wow like this could be a different NBS like, hopefully we see more of this, but then you're seeing other ones of him dropping, creating that separation quite easily because of his 437 speed.
But then he drops passes that air wide open in his hands.
So we need like we need to see more from him, in my opinion.
But there's some glimpses.
There were some positives to him, and then there were some negatives.
But I think he's got more to prove week, too.
Eso I had the same prediction.
Only thing I'm gonna switch up is who I'm most concerned about, especially because Jeff ***uda is nearing return, which means they'll probably be questionable.
He'll be banged up.
Um, you have a up and coming corner.
A talented corner in Justin Coleman.
They lost Darius Slay, went out and signed Desmond Trufant, I think, had limited practice.
Um, actually, I think he either had limited practice or he didn't even practice the past two days Wednesday and Thursday.
So I had my most concerned there and being the cornerbacks.
But now that they're banged up, I'm going to go to the linebackers, but I have them beating them at the Packers winning 31 to 20 and the lines air always.
They've always been a team at the Packers, somehow struggle with, even though they're the worst team in the NFC North and I compare that to the Brewers like the Brewers, they like there's some seasons where they beat the really good teams, but they lose to the really bad teams.
And my friend made a great comparison this year where they're losing to the Pirates and the Pirates at the time when they started losing to the Pirates were starting up five and 17.
But obviously, like baseball in the Brewers could be a topic for another time.
But I still see us winning and actually write it.
Before we went on the air.
Can they announced Candy holidays out? So I think they'll see increased targets for TJ Hawkinson.
Um, and they also.
Then they're gonna have to rely on Marvin Jones.
I know you're not a huge fan of him just because he only shows out what four or five teams out of the air.
I'm not a huge fan of Marvin Jones myself.
Um, I think Danny Amendola they're probably gonna have to rely they're going to rely on both those guys.
I think more so.
Marvin Jones because we've seen more out of him, and I think we'll see increased touches, increased targets from, um from TJ Haakenson and as far as the run game.
And I've said this to every every team in the NFC North.
They're not only are they run heavy, but they have their solidified running back.
But I think out of all four teams in this division that has there that is still looking for their solidified guy, I would say the Detroit Lions are still looking for that because they brought in a P a week before the season started and he goes in and gets the most touches.
And he played a pretty good game, and I didn't understand me personally.
Why they drafted DeAndre Swift.
I get they wanted to know more depth.
But that to me shows one.
You don't have a lot of faith and carry on Johnson when you should.
And it's unfortunate that he went down with that major injury and to you don't need a DeAndre Swift.
You need a big bodied running back that can power through those third down plays and you don't.
And they also drafted Jason Huntley, who I'm pretty sure is.
I don't even think I think you got cut eso they drafted, like speed in their backfield.
They don't have any big bodied running back that they need, Um, for those third dumb plays and beyond.
Um, but if I had to pick an area, if I absolutely had to pick an area too the most concerned about, I'd go with linebacker Corps.
Um, and edge, Obviously, they went out.
They got Trey flowers, They went on to sign Jamie Collins.
Um, this team is so odd to me because they're getting a little bit of hype.
I don't think enough hype to make the playoffs.
Obviously, I think they still finished dead last in the division.
But they're getting really weird hype because Matt Patricia went out.
They went out and signed like tons of guys from the Patriots.
Desmond Trufant from the Falcons.
I mean, they they addressed everything.
They addressed it.
Besides the Desmond Trufant signing, they addressed it.
Um, like all from the Patriots and to me out of all the years that map Patricia's coached the lion's.
This is the most talented team he's had, and I think we've had this conversation, too.
I think he is one of the hottest seats in the NFL for head coaching for him being on the line.
And if he doesn't take a team, if he if this team finishes under 500 he's gone.
Yeah, definitely 1%.
You hit it all on the money there.
Hollande Packers were fair up against the lines.
I feel like it's gonna be another one of those games where we see Green Bay take advantage to have a big lead.
Yeah, the Green Bay Packers.
They won't have Kenny Clarke and we saw we saw in the second half.
You know, the defense for the Green Bay Packers? A lot.
A lot of big plays, but the Detroit Lions? They won't have their main guy in Kenny Golladay.
I feel like if the Lions have Kenny Golladay, I feel a little bit more concerned.
But no Kenny Golladay, even though the Packers won't have Kenny Clarke, I think I think you put up a year Alexander or Kevin King against their weapons and they're gonna be pretty much locked up.
I feel like It's gonna be a rough day for Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions.
Uh, and I mean, we looked at Green Bay.
They didn't really get toe Kirk cousins a lot.
How many sacks of Green Bay have was like one? Maybe maybe two.
Way had, like, 22 or three sacks, because I know the Darius Scott one and Gear got one, but it was It was almost It was always, like, quiet day to ***.
And, you know, it was I was very impressed that the backers, but the Vikings only allowed two sacks, but the two sacks were a safety, and a big play buys area. Smith.
I feel like this defense is going to get to the quarterback.
More on the Detroit Lions offensive line is isn't okay.
Offensive line. It's not really the best.
And when you don't have your number one weapon and County Golladay, I mean, we saw Detroit last week.
They had a 23 to 6 lead in the third quarter against Mitchell Stravinsky, and they let him come back and win the game.
You know, this is a Mitchell tributes.
Playing gets they're playing against Aaron Freaking Rogers So I I expected to be to be, ah, high, Ah, high scoring game for for the Green Bay Packers side of the thing side of the game, I feel like the Packers defense is gonna allow as many big place.
I feel like, you know, whatever Green Bay had their film day, I feel like Mike Pet pointed out.
We did everything good against the Vikings except for stopping the big place.
I mean looking, What happened Week one? The only downside for the Packers defense was them allowing big plays.
I mean, near the end of the half, they allowed too many big plays in Minnesota, got a field goal out of it, and then they let out of feeling get loose in the second half, and he had two touchdowns.
So I feel like Green Day as a defense.
They definitely have to shore up the run game.
Obviously, they won't have Kenny Clarke this upcoming week, so it will be interesting to see how they will utilize their front.
I mean, I even saw last game.
They use the Darius Smith a little bit, as in that nose tackle position where you just see him like stand over and I kind of run through.
It will be interesting to see how Mike Pet is gonna utilize that front four without Kenny Clarke.
So other than that, I feel like Green Bay is gonna win big.
I don't think they'll do what they did against Minnesota and let them back in the game near the ends because we basically scored Minnesota out of the game.
We outscore them. I think it's gonna be different.
I think the defense is going to make sure they don't allow big plays because ambiance the way how we played Week one is not gonna fly when we play against New Orleans Saints in Week three.
The kind of defensive performance we had a week one against the Minnesota Vikings. It was two halves.
You have the first half where you lock them down to 10 points, which is great, and then you have them in the second half, where they scored 24 points.
That's not gonna fly against good teams.
And that's why a lot of ****ysts don't really have Green Bay in the top of the stool discussions because it's all about how are they going to stop the run.
How are they going to stop? How is their defense going toe? Hold up And you know I feel like this is the game.
Yes, against the Teacher Alliance.
But this is the game where I want to see improvements on the defense.
Obviously, we saw how the offense was.
I mean, they dropped 43 points out of Mike Zimmer defense Z.
That's something Mike Zimmer and company have it a lot.
I think when we scored 43 that was the most points ever given up by a Mike Zimmer defense.
So even that, by itself, is an impressive feat.
You know, I just hope green Bacon be consistent.
I mean, we've seen a weekend and week out where a team drops 43 points one week, and then they barely scrapped 20 the next.
So the one thing I hope for is just consistency on the offense, and I think there is going to be that.
I mean, we look at Detroit and going off what you said about Desmond to font.
He was a DNP the last two days.
So and with Jeff ***uda kind of kind of a little iffy with he was a full participant.
Even with this hamstring, I feel like it's gonna be so he'll probably go into questionable.
Um, yeah, I feel like tonight or tomorrow, but yeah, E definitely.
I feel like it's gonna be another one of those good days for Aaron Rodgers.
I feel like I think we could see another 300 plus yard performance with another four plus touched us.
I truly believe that just because their secondary is kind of the same as, like, Minnesota banged up young players, you know, kind of kind of Ah Ah, wait and see game and what happens? I mean, we look at their main threats.
I would say that the Packers would have to go up against his trey flowers and Jamie Collins.
Obviously, Jamie Collins had the bone headed decision where he was probably trying to show the ref like this guy did this to my head, but you don't really go headfirst into a ref.
You're just asking to be ejected.
So I feel like it's gonna be a different game.
If I had to do ah score prediction.
I would say Green Bay puts up a 30 spot.
I would like what you said, Sam.
I would say like 31 to 20.
I don't know what it is.
I feel like I feel like it's gonna be a close game throughout.
This kind of reminds me of when the Packers played the Giants last year, it was closed for most of the game, you know, 17 13 but in the fourth quarter, they just pull away because they're the better team.
And I just see Green Bay winning winning this game.
I see them being, too, and, oh, going in tow New Orleans whenever they have to play them Sunday night and we talked about the Vikings offense and we talked about, I didn't really think they had the talent on their offense to put up 40 plus points.
All they have outside of Kirk is Dalvin, Cook and Adam feeling.
I mean, you can't really say Justin Jefferson, because not yet, anyway.
Like I think it could be.
I think it very well could I think Justin Jefferson has tons of potential, but I'm impressed that they were able to put up 40 points, um, against the Packers and going into the lion's.
They also have Danny Shelton, um, as 30 tackle, but he's moved around quite a bit.
Hey was drafted by the Browns.
I then he went to New England because he was the one that picked up Roger Goodell on the podium.
Um, but yeah, I Okuda nearing decision.
I think losing Kenny Golladay for them is huge.
Um, I think you might expect them thio use a little bit more of the run game than the passing game.
Um, but yeah, Mhm.
Definitely good points there.
So what player would have a good game offensively and defensively for the Green Bay Packers? I'll start off first.
I believe it's gonna be the same players of last week.
Last week I had Aaron Rodgers and Za'darius Smith as my players to perform, and they did.
I mean, look at last week's Darius Smith.
He got himself the sack, saw his little sack celebration where he went in.
It's kind of like this, you know, Blessed, Blessed up that football is back.
We saw how good Rodgers was.
I mean, my words were 100%.
He definitely put on a clinic look like the M V P quarterback that we usedto love and see.
And I think it's gonna be the same thing.
I feel like Aaron Rodgers is gonna have another good game.
Obviously, we look at the Detroit Lions secondary and its new guys.
You know the rookie Jeff ***uda.
I feel like he is going to play.
He kind of has to be, especially with all of their cornerbacks and secondary that are hurt.
And you know that area.
Smith is a kind of guy that I think will have ah have a bigger game.
Mike is going to utilize Za'darius Smith a lot more, especially with Kenny Clarke being inactive this game against Detroit Lions.
I think you're gonna see a lot.
Maura's an area Smith.
You're gonna see him on the outside edge badge on someplace, and then you're also going to see him maybe in a nose tackle position.
I mean, you, I mean, Mike, he loves the Darius Smith and, you know, you see him being placed kind of around the front, you know, you you could see him on the right edge.
You could see him on the left, and then you could see him charging through the middle, and you know, With Kenny Clarke out, I expect that area Smith be a huge it typical part in the center.
I believe this is going to be a game where, you know, the Dairy Smith could have multiple sacks if I had to pick another player.
All the defense that I believe could perform well, like Za'darius Smith.
It's gonna be J your Alexander.
I feel like Jay Alexander is gonna have a great game.
He doesn't have to worry about a solid receiver like Kenny Golladay.
So you could just pretty much put Jay Alexander anywhere.
If you feel like a model is gonna be more of a threat, you just put gyre right there.
Do you feel like they're going to try and target Mawr of Marvin Jones? You could put him there, and even if you want to, I probably won't see them do that.
But even if you wanna put J here on T J Hawkinson, you could do that as well.
But I feel like the Lions not having Kenny Golladay is huge.
You know, it's a huge win for the Packers defense.
They don't have to worry about one of the better receivers in the NFC North and gear.
Alexander is one of those players where you could put him up on any number Wide receiver one and he could do pretty well.
I mean, we saw, you know, when j reversed against that, I'm feeling, obviously, you locked him up pretty good in the first half.
I mean, when cousins tried to throw the feeling near the end of the half, he got a good interception.
Obviously, in the second half was not too good, you know, he did let Phelan get two touchdowns.
Hopefully, he shores that up throughout the whole game.
But no Kenny Golladay gyre.
Alexander wouldn't have a great game.
I'm still going to roll a za Darius Smith.
But if there's another defensive guy that I concede you well, it would definitely be dryer Alexander.
I'll direct that same question to you, Sam.
Who do you believe will have a great offensive game and defensive game for the Green Bay Packers this upcoming week? Kind of named both of them.
So my offense is gonna be Aaron Rodgers.
I think Davante Adams last week.
My offense is gonna be Aaron Rodgers.
Definitely, because you're going into Sunday with arguably the best receiver in the North.
You have Al Mazar, who is basically coming back off from where he's coming back from where he left off last season.
And you have corners that air just coming off of injury.
So you don't know if they're gonna be fully healthy and Rogers could take advantage of that.
But I am less worried about this defense than I was about the Vikings defense last week.
Um, but solely because outside of the corners or the secondary on the Vikings, um, they have talent.
And obviously losing the new 100 for the first three games is huge.
I don't think I don't I'm not sure how you feel about this, but I don't really think Mike Zimmer is.
That could have a coach.
But I also think they had no choice but to resign him for the extension because of the status of their defense.
Their defense needs help.
They lost Everson, Griffin and even the 900 for three weeks in the 103 weeks.
They might not even locked down Yannick and I love how I said.
Bringing in Yannick hurts Dalvin Cook's chances and Dalvin Cook goes and gets the extension that at that point you don't really have a choice of extending Double Cook.
Especially since you lost digs and double cooks your primary guy on your offense.
And this is what I was also going to say I would have a I think you could have a conversation of Kenny Golladay being the second best received in the North over Adam Phelan.
And I think you could agree with that as well, because I think we talked about before.
Um, but the Lions defense Let me let me rephrase that.
The Lions defense, I think, could be better than the Vikings.
Um, but me personally, for the Packers offense, I'm less worried about it because you're going.
If they had a fully healthy secondary.
If Jeff Okuda waas fully healthy Desmond Trufant practice the past two days, then I would be a little bit more worried.
But I am less worried about this game than I was last game.
Just because three offense.
Yeah, Dublin cook didn't do much, but they don't have.
They're like they don't have us like a soul like top guy that they're gonna have to throw to I think that the guy that they're gonna have a real I have to rely on for their offense is T. J. Hawkinson.
But that's why I think Aaron Rodgers is my offensive M v p.
Just because they're going into their going into Sunday the lines air going into Sunday, um, coming off of it coming off of injuries and my defense of M v P.
And I said, you could see more of the run game on Bond.
The guy that I'm most intrigued to see is Kingsley Keagy.
Especially now that's can't that Kenny Clarke his own.
I think we see a lot more coming from him.
Um, but my other guy is gonna be a guy that just came off a safety, a sack and a in interception in one game, which is historic record.
Alexander and especially with not having Candy Golladay, you have Danny Amendola, who's washed.
You have Marvin Jones, who has four or five games good, like four or five good games out of the year.
Remember one point in fantasy he waas.
I don't know if it was fantasy like one point he was like the top three receiver and receiving yards a few years ago for, like, two weeks.
And then he just fell off that, um, like Marvin Jones is good.
He just doesn't have that consistency.
And I think they're gonna expect him to step up big time with Kenny Golladay, Um, with Candy Golladay being out.
But I'm not gonna count on that.
Especially with a hacker's defense is good is ours.
And we both have our opinions on Mike Patton.
I think Mike Patton personally was coaching for his job this year.
I think there's a chance he could stay, but my defense of M v p defense of Show Out the A M v P.
Do you wanna say it is, um, gyre Alexander solely because of the loss of Candy gallery for the week? And Joey Alexander could have.
I think he could have another breakout game on the defense.
Hit hit all great points there.
You know, I expect Dr Alexander to have a good game as well now.
So I think you have another historic game where we had where he had a sack, the safety and a pick.
No, I mean, that's something that's a once in a once in a generation kind of thing, you know, from a player.
You know, obviously you like to see that, But I wanna be surprised if Jackson has a good game as well.
Maybe we could even see.
You know, Mike, have, you know, maybe they might dial up a corner blitz and some instances because they needed to get to the quarterback and no, Kenny Clarke, you know, you can maybe see Gyr on some place, just like J here.
We saw what you did against Kirk Cousins.
Go run that same play and get Stafford.
We need we need a little jolt.
We need a jolt to help boost the team.
And that's kind of what gear did when you got that safety against and get the Vikings.
I mean, Green Bay look slow.
First quarter as an offense, they look slow.
And when you're a defense, you know when you see your offense being a little slow, you're kind of going to defense and just like, you know what guys we need to play to help his offense out.
And that play really helped out the Green Bay offense.
As for 43 points.
So you know great points there made about J. Alexander.
Uh, Let's move on.
Let's move on to the most worried about player for the Detroit Lions on an offense and a defense of side Sam, Who would you be most concerned with for Detroit Alliance? As for an offense and the defense, my offense.
I'm gonna pick Matthew Stafford because I think a healthy Stafford.
I think you could argue he's better than Kirk Cousins.
Um, I think Kirk Cousins last year.
I think statistically, I think he was maybe right at 10 for Top 10 Top 12.
But I think they're gonna have to stop the passing game.
Andi, I think that's gonna have Thio.
I think they're gonna have to stop.
Matthew Stafford definitely made.
Made some good good points there.
If I'm gonna go a little bit of a different route, I'm going to go with TJ Hawkinson.
I know it's an interesting route to take, especially with Stafford being healthy.
But TJ Hawkinson played Week one against Chicago Bears.
I think Matthew Stafford is gonna really rely on T J Hawkinson, especially without Kenny Golladay.
Are you mentioned Amendola? A.
You know, a medulla starting to get up there in age.
Marvin Jones is always inconsistent.
I mean, Marvin Jones had that one play where he ran over a Bears corner and that was pretty much it.
You know he would.
He looked like he was starting off good.
Yeah, that one big play ran over a Bears player and he was pretty much quiet the rest of the game.
So I feel like T.
J Hawkinson is gonna be that main guy for the Lions.
For them to have a chance, they're gonna need a have T J.
Hawkins and have a good game before tight.
And that's why I'm going with the most concerned player as being TJ Hawkinson obviously say, Have you made a lot of great points about Matthew Stafford and I and I agree through.
I believe a healthy Stafford is better than Kirk Cousins, just because the White House Stafford is able to move on offense around the field.
But you don't have Kenny Golladay.
It's It's a very huge loss for this Detroit Lions team, so I believe TJ Hawkinson is going to be a guy on the offense toe watch out for in this game.
I mean, you could maybe even make a case for the run game just because Green Bay's run defense as a whole kind of struggles, I guess.
But on the last week, we had to go up against one of the best in Dalvin Cook.
This is kind of a running back tree where, you know, AP.
Is he gonna have the same game he had against Chicago? I'm not sure about that.
You know, he's a rookie.
Will they trust him now? Since he dropped that game winning touchdown pass in week one.
Are we ever going to see Carry on Johnson as well? You know, one game is kind of a hit or miss.
So as an offense, I'm just gonna roll the teacher, Hawkinson because I feel like that's gonna be staffers favorite guy.
Because God is gonna be out of this game, uh, as a for the Lions defense.
If I had to pick a guy to be the most concerned with, I'm gonna go with Trey Flowers.
I mean, we saw Trey Flowers last year for the Green Bay Packers.
Obviously, a lot of people will say the refs gave the green Bay Packers that week.
And you know, Trey Flowers was always getting pressure on Rodgers, you know, even though he had those two fateful illegal hands to the face calls.
And you got to give credit for Bachtiar for completely selling those calls because those were not illegal hands to the face.
You pretty much had it on his shoulder.
Behave when you're in the NFL, you gotta sell some calls.
And so what box you already did.
You know, for defense, you could also make a case for Jamie Collins.
Well, im going more towards Trey Flowers.
Just because the keys for good NFL teams is, they always have a legitimate threat of an edge rusher.
I mean, you look at Green Bay.
Their legitimate threat for edge rusher is the Smith grows, You know, the Darius Smith and pressing Smith along the edges.
Those are those are scary.
Even San Fran with Nick Bosa.
Even the Chargers with Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram.
You know, just some of the good teams there and put Detroit lions if they the Detroit Lions.
For them to stay in this game, Trey Flowers is gonna need a have a good game, and I feel like if the Green Bay Packers could shut down Trey flowers, it's gonna be an easy cake.
Walk of the game.
So I got Trey Flowers just because of his edge presence and just because the money he got paid by the Lions last year, you're one looked OK, Put some decent stats year, too.
I expect them to do do the same.
And for my defensive player that most concerned with, I'm going with Trey Flowers.
I direct that same question to you, Sam, as a defensive player for the Lions.
Who are you most concerned with? I'm also gonna agree with you.
I'm gonna go Trey Flowers.
My reasoning is kind of similar.
We did lose Lane Taylor, which I think is all I think is a pretty big loss.
I don't think it's huge, but Lane Taylor is a guy that I was really excited to see this year.
I'm really excited to watch them grow.
I know they restructured his contract.
Yeah, that makes it.
That makes it easier for us to trade him.
But I loved seeing him, you know, like he lost the job last year.
Delton Jenkins actually he didn't lose the job.
He went down and Elton Jenkins came in.
And when he was back and healthy, they kept out in Jenkins in because he was flourishing right away.
Um, and Lane Taylor accepted his role on that team, and I have nothing but respect for him for that.
But they bring in Jon Runyan.
And after the Lane Taylor injury, I'm sitting thinking to myself, Wow, like, I bet you were all glad Packers drafted three offensive linemen in this draft.
They cut Jake Hanson, but Jake Hanson is also sitting on their practice squad.
Um, that's my most shocking cut for the Packers.
More than J. Kumar O.
Coomer was kind of shocking to me just because Devin Funchess opted out because I think if we would have Devin Funchess, I think I think Jake Coomer would have been cut or even fighting for a spot on the roster.
Um, but I was a little bit surprised by the J Kumerow cut because we didn't have Devin Funchess because of his opt out.
I kind of expect that Jake Kumamoto make the roster.
Um, but, you know, you don't have Jon Runyan taking over for Lane Taylor for the year.
Um, and he looked bad, like he he looked pretty good for the time he was given.
You're having a guy going into his first full game is a rookie.
I guess his second game, but first full, is a rookie and trade, depending on where he lines up, Trey Flowers is gonna be a guy to stop is going to be a guy to stop if he ends up, you know, kind of pulling on the outside as the polling guard or even Danny Shelton.
Um, but I have Trey Flowers.
I think you could maybe make a case for Danny Shelton.
But him I'm definitely least worried about Yeah, definitely made a lot of good points there.
And with the injury toe lane Taylor, I think it's gonna be interesting to see where we're going to see from an offensive line.
And they're gonna put running at that same spot, Or are they gonna put Elton Jenkins where he was most successful when Elton Jenkins filled in for Lane Taylor and that same exact spot? I believe there's a stat where he went over 500 consecutive snaps without allowing a sack So maybe if you're if you're a Packers offensive line, maybe you put in Jenkins at that spot.
Maybe you let Billy Turner when he's healthy.
Put him in at that spot. Maybe.
See, will you put in, uh, quick, Quick. Wagner.
You know what's great about Green Bay? And the offensive line is they made great decisions in the draft, and it's always good to have depth because, you know, you always have to expect for an injury.
And obviously, Lane Taylor injury was devastating, especially because he had one last year.
The way how Elton Jenkins played.
A lot of people were like, We don't want Lane Taylor here and he was willing to restructure his contract.
Then the snap that he played against the Minnesota Vikings.
And to have a devastating A C L injury to the offensive line is obviously tough.
But when you have a lot of depth at the old line, it's kind of, you know, wait and see where you know it's going to be interesting.
Sorry, it's gonna be interesting. Thio.
See where the offensive line pieces, obviously their main staple, is gonna be pretty much Bakari at left tackle and Lindsay at the center position.
Everywhere else is kind of wide open, you know? Are you going to see Elton Jenkins in the spot where he was week one against Minnesota? Or are they gonna put Elton Jenkins back where he was successful, filling in for Lane Taylor at that left guards, you know, Are we going to see WIC Wagoner war? Ah, lot, you know, from a right tackle perspective, or are we going to see some Billy Turner action? You know, that's the luxury of having death, because you could just pick and choose which matchups you like more.
Maybe one guy is better against Danny Shelton than another, so you could just put him in there.
So it'll be interesting.
But you made a lot of good points about Trey flowers.
You know, he's gonna be a guy tow watch out for on the edge front.
And maybe if one of the younger offensive guys start to struggle against Trey flowers, you could see maybe them double double flowers in the game.
You know, maybe they put Bachtiar e and the young guy on flowers just to tone him out in the game and maybe have a running back like a Jamal Williams or maybe even a J dilla to help block, you know, on the side.
So it's gonna be interesting to see and s So I could you also And did you have any other point you mentioned? The offensive line? That's a really good point is when we drafted the three offensive linemen that, like, brings in more depth.
And it's not just the depth is I love offensive lineman that can play multiple positions.
John Running was a guard in college.
I think they drafted him as a tackle.
If I'm not mistaken.
Jake Hanson was a center and Jake Hanson step.
I'm really happy that we were able to keep him on our practice gone because I think he could potentially take over for Corey Linsley because I think Koreans is gonna be gone.
Take over for Corey Linsley.
Otherwise, you Jenkins to center because Jenkins played center in college and you mentioned Jenkins playing over right tackle.
After laying, Taylor went out and they had to move some guys around and the way I see that is I'm really anxious to see what they do or where they end up putting Jenkins after this year because the way I see it is, I don't want them to fix something that's not broken.
Because Jenkins what Jenkins was.
He's already like six succeeding Excel ing at the guard position.
But then again, they moved him to tackle and he was still doing really well and the Jake Hanson pick.
I think I don't know why, but this statue is unbelievable to me.
He played like 3000 plus snaps.
I think it was 3000.
He played 3000 consecutive staff without getting hurt.
That that, to me, is an unbelievable staff.
That was a big reason why they drafted him, because the offensive line area position is a area an area for the Packers, where they have dealt with the most injuries.
I think I would say the second is probably the secondary position, but they always have guys.
Um, they always have guys getting hurt.
Yeah, especially in like the prime of the offensive line.
Like when you saw Bachtiar E when they had TJ laying, just sit in and Bakhtiari.
That was kind of the prime of the old line and always seemed like one of those guys were hurt, you know, whether it was Bulaga with with his bad knees, whether it was sitting whether he was even TJ laying a little bit, you know, it always seemed like they had.
They had one of those main guys injured.
Obviously, Bachtiar e was the most consistent, you know.
He was always a guy who was always a strong stable Hold on that offensive line.
Essentially, why he's one of the only core guys left you know, from that kind of.
I call it a dream team for an offensive line.
I mean, you look at you want to add Bachtiar e sit in Lindsley Laying and Bachtiar e any five offensive line that's a killer offensive line and being the only guys left just being Lindsley and Bachtiar, it just shows that, you know, they were consistently healthy throughout the year.
You didn't really see any big injuries.
Obviously, with Lane Taylor, injury is tough, but you know that.
That's why that's why you have a lot of good offensive lined up and you made a good point with Runyon 3000 consecutive snaps without being injured.
Uh, it is very important when you have a healthy old line.
I mean, we we see teams.
I mean, I've stated it. Ah, lot.
I mean, offensive line is a key success in the NFL because if you don't have a good offensive line, you're not gonna move the offense well.
I mean, in 2018 Aaron Rodgers didn't really have an offensive line.
And what happens? He was laboring on a leg, leg and knee injury, and it seemed like he couldn't move anywhere.
And he always got sacked.
A lot we saw last year when the Packers had a healthy offensive line, Rogers looked more comfortable in the pocket.
He threw the ball when he needed to the most, and they went 13 and three a minute to the NFC championship game.
So I expect to see an interesting look on the offensive line like you mentioned.
It will be interesting to see where they put Jenkins Jenkins.
He was very dominant at the left guard position.
He was great at right tackle.
You know, it's it's gonna that's what's great about having flexible guys out of tackle, like you said Sam, because you could pick and plug anywhere you want.
If you like this guy against him, like this guy against another, it's gonna be great.
It's gonna be great to see.
It's gonna be an exciting opponent to go up against, Uh, let's move on to do the the Packers honestly went or lose against Detroit Lions.
I'll start off first.
Probably this is gonna be another Green Bay Packers win.
I expect them to be, too.
And, oh, by the end of the week, I think I believe Sam and I did our score predictions earlier in the video.
I believe it's gonna be a 31 to 20 Packers win.
I expect the Green Package to put up a 30 spot against his defense.
If they don't put up 30 points, I think it will be a failure as an offense just because, you know, they have a whole bunch of injuries in their secondary.
I expect I expect another week where Rogers is just gonna look great.
You know, he keeps on injured his name in the M V P conversation.
I mean, you look at you got my homes.
That will be in that conversation.
We also Wilson, Lamar Jackson.
You gotta put in Aaron Rodgers.
Got that number four especially kind of game last week against Minnesota.
3 64 4 touchdowns. No pics.
I wanna be surprised if Rogers had this same exact game against Detroit.
Just because they're secondary is so banged up.
And if you could pretty much lock up Trey flowers and not let him get to the quarterback, you could see where Rogers just sitting there all day, rolling with right, throwing some good passes.
So I expect the Packers win 31 to 20 week two against Detroit Lions and be, too.
And, oh, what do you have, Sam? Do you think the Packers honestly, when? When This game.
Where do they lose this game and what is your score prediction as well? I think they win, Andi.
I wouldn't necessarily say they score under 30 that it's a disappointment because one, um, they've somehow always managed to struggle with the Lions and to this defense, did get better.
And Jeff Okuda Yeah, I I did say before their corners are going in like banged up.
They're going coming off of injuries.
But if they have Jeff Okuda, they said Jeff Yokota's nearing return.
So I'm assuming he'll probably be, um because I think he was limited in practice today or he was either limited or full participant.
Um, yesterday or today S O if they could get him back fully healthy.
I think that will be huge, but I have them winning 31 to 20.
Um, and like I meant like, this defense did get better.
Eso There definitely are some pros to this defense, but the Lions have always been a team for me, Even though I don't even though they somehow manage like this happens to be our nail biter game, the Lions somehow managed Thio be the least team that I like.
They're always the least team the team that I'm least worried about in this division.
If I had to pick a defense that I'm most worried about in this division.
Its top five defense in the NFL, which is the Chicago Bears Chicago Bears, went out and signed.
They lost Leonard Floyd, which yeah, that's a pretty decent loss that they, Robert Quinn and then they also have and elite secondary.
They have one of the best edge rushers and coil melon.
Khalil Mack and I actually found that mistaking.
I think Khalil Mack was limited in practice earlier this week.
Um, but and you mentioned you mentioned the AP thing, too.
Is will he do the same thing with Chicago? The fact that he was able to the fact that he's still like able to produce some games for his age is kind of impressive to me.
Um, even against the Bears defense, who was a top five in the league.
So I think there's a chance we see him do similar things with us.
But I think we have the pieces like you mentioned like scenarios impressed and Smith to beat it.
Obviously, I think they're going to take advantage of not have up the Packers, not having Candy Clark s.
So I think there is a chance they might run the ball a little bit more than they pass it.
Yeah, they're run heavy, but I think there's a chance that we might see just because and also because Kenny Gala days, we might see a significant amount of running from the Lions because Kenny Clarke is out and they like They know the Packer defense was atrocious last year and they know that like it's not a team that's not something to mess with.
Like the Packers run defense is atrocious.
It's Raheem Mostert.
We can keep bringing this up, but I think they're going to take advantage of that.
But I have the bike. I have the package wedding.
Um, I think they win.
I think they I think they'll take advantage right away.
And then I think it will be kind of similar to the Vikings game where the defense, somehow like, lets them come.
But has them come back and they give up.
I think there'll be a few plays like like ridiculous plays that the Packers give up.
But in the end, I think they do win 31 to 20 as well.
Yeah, good, good points as well.
Hopefully we're to know at the end of two weeks I mean, if we somehow some way lose, lose this game, I'd be very concerned going into New Orleans.
But you know the way how you and I are stated.
You know, we made a lot of good points.
I believe we could very well be to know this week.
Going up against New Orleans next week could be a potential playoff playoff matchup in the future, whether it's a divisional round game or even potentially an NFC championship game between two very good teams between the states of the Packers.
