the oh bring What's up, everybody.
Welcome into the sports guy Mike Show K C B R 98 5 a.m.
10 40 right here in Colorado Springs.
We're also on 100 mix up.
M dot com is, well SportsCastr dot com Sports guy Mike hanging out with you on a Thursday, September 17th.
Tony Castillo is on assignment.
Chris Brain will be joining us here in about 10 minutes, but I found an interesting story that I wanted to share with you guys today.
What's up, buddy? Um, what's up, Alex? So you know, Kobe has done some damage to, you know, so many different companies and businesses and society is the whole.
But, you know, this is a sports show.
At least that's what we try to do anyway.
I hope I hope we're doing okay.
And don't forget, you can also always email me at email at email at Mike and Sports guy mike dot com.
Yeah, it's it's the morning time.
Now there are some NFL teams that are losing without fans in the stands.
Okay, It's just the fact right to, I think, two games last week had, UH, 25% of the fans in their in their stadiums.
Now, believe it or not, this is a big, big moneymaker for most NFL teams, and only two NFL teams can't see.
The Chiefs in the Jacksonville Jaguars had fans in that stadium last week.
Not a full capacity, of course, but had around 16,000 and attendance for each of them.
Now, in the coming weeks, six other home teams have announced plans to allow fans into the stands on the main reason for that is well, of course, the almighty dollar.
NFL teams are losing an ungodly amount of cash without fans, so they're willing to open their doors and throw caution to the wind.
According to Forbes, the Dallas Cowboys are losing the most roughly $77 million per game.
Or look at it this way.
$616 million over eight home games.
Now, remember these players, you know, people tell me all the time.
Oh, you know, sports guy Mike can't be saying that, you know, these guys don't earn their, you know, their contracts, They're overpaid, they are overpaid.
Okay? And I understand that it's, you know, it's you know, it's it's what the market dictates.
I understand that, believe me.
But this is where it comes into play something like a pandemic that shut your doors down for the most part, to the people that pay the contracts for these players, or at least a portion a portion of it, because $77 million per game Good Lord.
Now the New England Patriots are next on this list at $39 million per game, followed by the New York Giants at 32 million and the Houston Texans at 27 million and the New York Jets at 27 million.
I don't know if this is like quite the eye opener for most people.
So think about this.
The Cowboys air first on this list at $77 million per game, right the next.
The next team is are the Patriots at abysmal 39 mil compared to Jerry World at 77 million? I don't know if that means the prices air higher.
I know that they seek more people than Gillette, but even still 39 million and then we're talking.
We're talking about all these East Coast teams with Houston squirrels in there.
Pats, Giants, Texans, Jets, Giants and Jets.
Look, I'm a New Yorker.
I pulled for the Giants because it was my dad's favorite team.
But, I mean, the fact that the Giants and the Jets are on this list with the Cowboys and the Patriots is mind blowing.
That just goes to show you, ladies and gentlemen, how loyal and devoted giant and Jet fans are.
These numbers also include things like tickets, concessions, sponsors, parking and, of course, merchandizing inside the stadium.
So it's both the amount that fans actually spend and the marketing sponsorships and brand, uh, activations in the stadium that generate money for them is, well, like, you know, Exxon and all these big companies, Pepsi and all this stuff, right? So the Cowboys are one of the teams slated to allow fans in the home games in the future, but they haven't announced how many.
Owner Jerry Jones says that they'll play it by ear and kind of see how it goes now.
The Cincinnati Bengals didn't have fans for their opener, but they'll allow 6000 in there next to home games right here in Colorado, the Denver Broncos air welcoming 5700 fans to their next game as well.
Now, when Chris comes on, I have to ask him, Have they refunded his season ticket money yet? Or is he one of these fans out of the 5700 that are actually going to get to be in this next game against Pittsburgh? Now the Indianapolis Colts are capping off attendance at 2500 fans while the Dolphins are trying 13,000 fans as well as the Cleveland Browns.
Air okay with exactly.
I don't know why this number is so precise, but for some reason, the Browns air at a 6789 fans, right? 6789 Really weird number.
Don't know where the front office of the Cleveland Browns came up with this number.
I don't know if that's gonna, you know, cover the light bill for that day, or how that works.
It's just it's mind blowing how much money, and we've talked about it on this show just how much money these franchises make in a single game and why a lot of these stadiums, you know, rent themselves out to concerts and things of that nature because this is on Lee, something that goes, I mean, Cowboys make $616 million over eight home games.
That is an astronomical amount of money.
That's just over.
Patrick Mahomes is contract.
So a single and this is what I'm trying to get out here a single season for, You know, say the Chiefs pays for Patrick Mahomes contract for the next 10 years.
That's just a season.
So granted, there's other.
You know, there's there's other avenues.
Obviously, merchandizing outside of the stadium is huge.
Um, and of course, there's also, uh, there's also shared equity as well.
So you know, there's other ways that money is made in the NFL.
But this is such a big one that it's it's just absolutely mind blowing.
Um, how much money these guys really make just and how much money they're losing.
And I know, you know, to the common man like you and I were sitting here going, Hey, you know, we can't even fathom money like that just because, you know, none of us don't know, have no idea what it's like to have $616 million in our account.
It's just, you know, it's crazy.
But again, look, these are businesses to, and I know a lot of people right now are not high on the NFL for some reason.
And look, it is what it is.
You have your right to say whatever you want and think what you want and, you know, it just seems like everybody has a negative opinion lately and it's almost discouraging, to be honest with you.
It pains me sometimes.
Yes, right now we are on Facebook, live on the sports guy Mike Show, Facebook Page.
But it's very hard sometimes to scroll through social media just because it seems like everybody is angry for one reason or another.
And now a lot of this is being directed towards, you know, professional athletes in the NFL and and it's just like, Look, man, there are a lot more things in society right now that you could complain about than the NFL and whether or not they're recognizing this cause or this cause or whether guys air kneeling.
Here's something that I can tell people that I would love Thio for some people to just understand the best part of your life should be your friends and family, right? There's more things like I said to complain about.
And the NFL isn't one of them.
If guys want to kneel, if guys want to stand, if guys wanna put their arms together in solidarity, that's awesome.
If you don't like it, then turn it off.
But don't litter the Facebook world or the social media world with your ridiculous rants that air doing absolutely nothing because you're sitting behind a computer or your phone and you're just typing nonsense.
Maybe get out and do something in your community.
Maybe, you know, do something.
Uh oh, I don't know.
Soup, kitchen, something like that. I don't know.
But stop complaining on social media and get out in your community and do something about it.
If you're that enraged about something, then stand for it and go do something about it.
Instead of just yammering on and thinking that you're cute little memes on Facebook, you're gonna make a difference Or anybody is even gonna care, because I'm here to tell you most of us don't and I'm definitely one of them.
that don't And you know, just saying there's a lot more things to complain about.
You should be happy that you're alive, that you're healthy and you have a job and all that good stuff.
No, don't you know? Just saying Anyway, Alright, We're gonna take a quick break when we come back.
We'll have Chris breaking on board with us.
But some quick, uh, sports and 70 birthdays.

He is Jason, the original Red Ranger.
I've met the guy at a comic con.
Yeah, I'm kind of bummed out that there was no comic con this year.
That really that really, uh, that stung a little bit.
Just going to say I love me some comic con.

Thanks so much for hanging out with us making this part of your day.
We appreciate you as always, Chris Brain.
Told me he's, uh, doing some work for the show, which I always appreciate, so he'll be joining us soon.
But we're gonna let him do that because anything you know, it has to be done for the show.
Got to get it done.
So we're gonna let him do that.
We appreciate him doing that.
So Los Angeles Dodgers.
That's right. Then L.
A Dodgers became the first team Major League baseball to clinch a spot in the postseason when they defeated the Pods 75 on Wednesday.
The victory in San Diego secured an eighth consecutive trip to the playoffs, marking the third longest playoff street N MLB history, trailing Onley that of the 1991 2005 Atlanta Braves with 14 and the 1995 to 2007 New York Yankees with 13.
So you still got a way to go, fellas, but you're right there now.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts wasn't aware that his team clinched until he was asked about it after the game.
It was on considered a foregone conclusion that the Dodgers, who 35 15 record is the best in the majors.
Roberts said Clinching was the first step.
So this is big, um, For them, they are what they were one of the favorites coming in to this 60 games, Siri's or season.
I should say so there, You know, they were the heavy favorites in the National League, of course, and I still don't see any reason why they wouldn't.
Because right now in the National League, the only other teams right now, uh, that are right next to them on Chicago Cubs at 30 and 20.
And then you have the Atlanta Braves, who are 29 21.
So if we looked at it right now, so let's see where, um, I will goto league a National League.
So you got the Dodgers at 35 15. I'm sorry.
The PODS air 32 in 19 then the Cubs at 30 and 20.
Atlanta is 29 21 then you got Miami, Philly, Giants and the Reds.
Kind of in that mix right there, jockeying for position as we speak now.
Dodgers have a great roster.
They really dio uh, this is a very talented team.
However, in the American League, let's talk Yankees.
The New York Yankees activated All Star right fielder Aaron Judge yesterday and, uh, batted him second against Toronto.
Given the team a full stable of active regulars for the first time since August 8th.
I'm gonna tell you, as a baseball fan, as a Yankee fan, I'm glad to see Aaron judge back.
I'm glad to see this Yankee lineup getting healthy because, quite frankly, since August 8th, it seems like this team has been bombarded with constant injuries.
Um, that have taken them, you know, from the top of the heap and just kept dropping and dropping.
Then they were concerned that they weren't even gonna make the playoffs.
It was very, very scary for a Yankee fan like myself.
Now, judge went over four, unfortunately, with three strikeouts in a 13 to victory over the Blue Jays, Yankees hit seven home runs on the night three coming from catcher Kyle Haggis, Higashi and She Yoka and two from D.
Which, by the way, Colorado Rockies.
Thank you so much for giving uh, my Yankees deejay LeMay who? The guy has been a stable since he's put on our pin stripes.
Now I love you Rockies.
I really dio I got mad love for you guys.
I've rooted for you, but we really appreciate D J.
Lo Mayhew just saying now.
The team also said it was transferring left hander James Paxton to the 45 day I l, ending his regular season and potentially, his time as a Yankee.
Now we all know Judge has been out since the 26th of August after re ag aerating a strained right calf and landing on the injured list for the second time this season, so hopefully he could come back, get his groove back first game back are never never good.
They never go Well, um, sometimes they do, but for the most part, just not really, Uh, New York has been shorthanded offensively since D H.
Giancarlo Stanton was sidelined by a strained left hamstring on August 9th.
Stanton was activated for Tuesday night's game against Toronto and went, Oh, for four with a walk.
Like I said, when these guys come off of injured list, that first game back just never seems to be, um, never seems to be that great.
You get a hit, whatever, but usually it's, you know, Big Goose X second baseman D.
J Lo Man, who shortstop laboratories and third baseman Geo Ursula have also been placed on the i o this season.
But all have since returned.
And again, these are major contributors to this Yankee lineup.
And, uh, you know, having all of them back is gonna make such a big difference for them moving forward.
So if we look at it now, right, um, here's what the first round of the expanded playoffs would look like based on the standings entering today.
Okay, American League right now would be the White Sox versus the Indians.
That's one versus eight.
Then you would have the Rays at two and the Blue Jays at 73 A's at number three would play the number six Astros, and the number four Twins would play the number five Yankees if that were today.
Okay, if we went into the National League, Dodgers would take on the Giants.
Cubs would take on Tony's Phillies at number seven.
The number three Braves would take on the number six Reds and the PODS would take on the Marlins.
So here's some magic numbers.
To clinch some playoff spots in the National League, the Padres need three.
The Braves needs six.
The Marlins still need 10 wins, and this Phillies man need 11 wins to clinch.
Ah, playoff spot.
Right now, Giants need 11 wins and the Reds need 12.
In the American League, the White Sox only need one more win to clinch a playoff spot.
The Rays only need three as well as the A's and the Twins.
The Yankees would need six, and the Blue Jays and Indians would need eight wins to clinch American League playoff spot thes Astros that we were saying, we don't know.
How is this going to play out for these guys? It's just going to be a year that you know, it's gonna be bombarded with, you know, buzzing the towers and, you know, hitting these guys.
And they're just gonna be in such a bad way because of this whole cheating scandal.
They need only 10 wins to clinch an American League playoff spot.
So if we look at the American League now, I mean, they're in eighth place, right? Okay, so right now it's cut off at the Orioles.
So you got the O's Mariners and Astros air 10 9 and eight at current spots right now, this should shape up to be a pretty interesting playoff now Detroit Royals, Angels, Rangers and Red Sox.
Just, you know, they could.
They still fight? Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, the Detroit Tigers, only a half a game behind the Orioles.
The Royals are only 1.
5 game behind the Orioles, and the Angels are only 2.
So there's still hope for those three teams now, as far as the Rangers and the Red Sox go, I mean, I know they're 4 4.
5 games out of that eight spot, but I mean, I've watched a couple highlights from the Rangers and the Red Sox, and I watched the Red Sox play my Yankees.
I just don't see it.
Thies Air two teams that are not even at at the 20 mark yet, which is not good.
So, you know, we're at about Game 51 ish where that Game 50 is about 10 or so games left.
So it's gonna be interesting to see how the MLB playoffs shape up.
You know, some of these races are really tight.
Actually, they're real tight in both the American League and the National League.
So it's gonna be interesting to see the Colorado Rockies for those of you here in Colorado, but they're in the 11th spot right now.
At 22 26 they are a half a game behind the Brewers and a Let's see.
They are a game and a half behind the Cardinals, so there's still hope.
There is still hope.
Now they have taken a tremendous slide.
This is a team that was, you know, had the 3rd 4th best record in the National League for quite some time there.
When this began in the 1st 10 15 games and now not so much you know Dodgers have kind of pulled away along with the Padres and the Cubs.
But it's it's not over until the fat lady sings and I don't hear her warming up at all.
So, you know, keep your fingers crossed for those of you that Iraqi fans here in Colorado.
Alright, so what we will do is when we come back, we're gonna talk some NFL.
Hopefully, Mr Braeden is done helping out the show, and we're going to talk about the Cincinnati Bengals Cleveland Browns.
Look, this is a very interesting matchup.
We're going to talk about whether and like you gotta think about this in perspective.
You have a guy that's about to start his second game in the NFL, and you are Baker, Mayfield, and you are sitting at a loss already.
If you lose to the rookie in his second game and he beat you, there's gonna be some problems in Cleveland.
I'm just saying we'll talk about that as well as some other interesting news around the NFL, some injuries, some key injuries.
Um, that may help you out may not help you out with your fantasy.
And just to find out who's hurting, who's gonna be starting for guys that are out.
We'll go over all of that.
Coming up next, right here on the sports guy.
Br don't go anywhere. You'll give you luck.
Sorry to hear about your car accident.

Thanks so much for hanging out with us making this part of your day.
I mean, I have the worst.
I have the worst luck.
Like I'm talking on the phone before I get on air and talking to my kids and walking them to school and talking on the phone with clients or whatever.
I sit down in front of this microphone to go live, and I got frog in my throat.
I just don't get and what's messed up is it happens more times than not.
You know, it's just weird, weird stuff anyway, alright tonight.
And I'm such a bad producer because right now I should be playing.
E should be playing some kind of Thursday night football music, and I thought I had it my cue.
And now I got to go hunting for it, sticking in there for next Thursday.
But thanks so much for hanging out with Don't forget, you can always check me out on any social media platform by simply typing in sports.
Guy Mike. That's right.
That's how you find me.
It's super easy.
Anyway, tonight at 6 20 Mountain time.
Yes, it is going to be the Battle of Ohio Cincinnati Bengals taken on the Cleveland Browns, both teams.
Oh, and one from last week You got Baker Mayfield.
You got Joe Burrow, the rookie sensation.
I don't know if He was a rookie sensation.
I was definitely impressed by Joe Burrows, Um, by his leadership, by his poise.
You know, I know they didn't get the win, and I know they struggled in the first half.
But honestly, for a kid that just got out of college and got his first start and through 23 for 36.
He didn't throw a touchdown.
He ran for one, but he did throw a pick.
Look, now I'm gonna give you Baker Mayfield's numbers from last week 21 of 39.
Similar 189 yards less than Joe.
One touchdown that he threw.
Okay, Joe ran one in and then one interception Thio each.
Now, let's think about that for a minute.
How long has Baker Mayfield been in the league? Well, he was the number one pick in 2000 and 18 So his numbers in his third year in the NFL mirror the rookie down the street.
Y'all e don't know what to tell you.
I honestly think first of all, I will tell you this, and I was gonna I'm gonna wait until our show later on Sports Guy Mike's picks.
We'll do that later.
But I am going to tell you this.
I don't see from what? From what I saw, The way I look at this is Baker has got a tremendous rock on his back right now.
Because if Baker doesn't win this game, I don't know if the people of Cleveland are going to tolerate too much of that.
I don't know how they're gonna feel about that.
This'd is a guy that had the almost the same numbers as a kid.
A rookie that started in his first game last week.
Your numbers, MEREDITH.
You have to win this this game.
Baker Mayfield has to win this game tonight.
How you doing, buddy? Hey, man.
How you doing, chief? Alright.
New hat on today.
Well, it's old hat, but, you know, just for looking serious today, man, it looks like you got, like, the black camel on and the black dio like man on some, like special ops thing going down here.
A man trying to, you know, help with you know, I'm your buddy E.
This is my workout gear because you know what I do once I get off air, bro, you know, gotta hit the gym, hitting their clinging and clanging.
Yeah, Yeah, he called me.
Chris called me yesterday in the middle of a workout, and I'm like, Hey, what's up, man? He's like, you have to, Jim.
And I'm like, how do you know he's like, I can hear it.
I know what the gym sounds like.
I hear you doing Zumba right now.
Freaking zoom ba So Baker Borough, this is a big matchup tonight.
Cleveland is the six point favorite, and I'll be honest with you, man.
I don't know if Cleveland has a chance.
I honestly think that this is like, you sit back and you look at the numbers and you go OK, Cream Hunt.
Joe Mixon, Borough Mayfield.
You know, this is it's kind of evenly matched.
However, How bad is this, or how bad would this be for Baker if he loses to the rookie Mike, this is not even close.
On paper, we keep talking about this every day.
You look, you got Baker, alright? Is borough better? Maybe.
But you got Odell Beckham Jr.
You got Myles Garrett that defense of the Brown should be able to be.
They should be able to win some low scoring games with that defense.
And there's a lot of guy in joke.
Ooh, Kareem hunts the back up.
I mean, they've got tons of guys.
And honestly, I don't know what's up with Baker.
Mayfield. I cannot figure it out.
Is it like, you know, I'm not smart enough to know if it's footwork or technique or any of that kind of stuff.
There's something going wrong with him right now, and I don't know if it's in his head or if it's if it's just technique.
I don't know that bad.
I like Baker. Mayfield.
I like the bravado I like.
I like what he does on the field.
It's not working, bro.
And it's funny because I was thinking about this last night and I'm glad you brought up Cleveland.
Cleveland Seems to me like the Clippers.
I don't know who guys really like each other.
You know what? I don't know if they have any chemistry on that team on either side of the ball.
They got a lot of great players, but I it just doesn't seem toe work, Mike.
It just like I don't know what it is.
And you know, Is it all Baker? Maybe.
I don't think so.
I don't think so at all.
I think bringing in Odell Beckham Jr when you already had Jarvis Landry was a waste of your time.
Money and resource is because Is he a great wide receiver? Yes, he is.
But you already had a guy.
Why do you need another guy? You know, spend that money elsewhere? I don't know, but yeah, this is a quandary for me.
So if you're asking me what team is better, Obviously the Browns are better, right? 13 but on and I don't know.
I always thought Baker Mayfield was one of those guys that you would want to go into the fire with.
He always was like that in college and in his first year.
Borough is that guy job already? Is that guy? Yeah, exactly.
And even leading last week like he never quits.
And I love now, so we'll see what happens.
Not worried about it's the Browns and the Bengals.
Obviously, I've made a career of making fun of Ohio stuff.
So I'm concerned they both don't even matter.
Jarvis Landry, right now as we speak, is questionable for this game, okay? And he was listed as questionable this morning.
So that's a concern, I think, for Baker.
But here's the thing.
You sit here and you try to figure out, and I'm and I'm a student of the game.
Still, I like, you know, I watch different aspects of the game chop up.
There's a little bit I dio I really do.
It's something that I really love to dio, and I'll be honest with you.
You talk about footwork.
Here's the Here's the one thing I'm going to take out of watching Baker last week.
Okay, so when I watch him come back four or five yards right and he's trying, he's trying to see over this gigantic line.
He has remember Baker's only 6 ft tall.
It's not a big guy.
Okay, on his three of five steppers he's can't see, he needs five.
He needs to be back there.
Okay, he's had I watched some of the tape from last week.
He had a hard time seeing guys getting open.
I don't know why.
It doesn't seem like that was something that he had an issue with last year, But maybe that's maybe that's part of it is that he's having issues seeing his guys open.
He's not rolling properly.
To aside that he has a better visual.
I don't know what's going on, but at the end of the day, you got Kyler Murray and Russell Wilson.
I'll see them having any issues, so that can't be it.
But Cliffs King Cliff Kingsbury is smart enough to keep Kyler in the shotgun.
Right? Here's the other thing, and you made a good point about this.
This is something that I've been thinking about two, and it's funny that you said that.
I wonder if these guys have issues in that locker room.
Maybe they don't like each other.
Maybe they're just not playing as a team.
And everything is going back on Baker.
Which mind you, he's, It's well deserved.
When you throw a pick in a touchdown, you're under 200 yards.
Your numbers look just like a first game rookie.
That's a problem.
This is your third year in this league, dude, your numbers should be better than a rookie at L s. U.
Regardless of how good Joe Burrow is, do you think that the Browns maybe just have sucky coaching? Still, I think that's part part of it, too.
I think it's just like, honestly that none of them were comfortable.
None of them look, they have had such issues.
Bringing in Kevin Stefanski Don't get me wrong is you know it zits, Whatever for me.
Cleveland is that team that can never find a quarterback and can never find a coach.
It just seems that's their doomsday.
The fan ski got the love because Kubiak was there, running the show behind the scenes and Freddie kitchens was an absolute nightmare.
You know, He was he was a man child, you know, trying to be a coach trying to be a leader of men.
When he was still a child with daughters were calling him out on it.
That whole T shirt thing was ridiculous.
Dude, you don't do that as a coach is just stupid.
But anyway, so this is gonna be a very interesting matchup.
I like the running back matchup.
Um, I like the fact that the receivers on Cleveland obviously are better than receivers in Cincinnati.
Hence, I'm sure that's why Cleveland's got to six point.
Not, but I don't look from what I saw that kid do in the second half.
Especially in that last those last two drives that Joe Burrow had.
Look, I'm impressed with the guys moxie with how he just took Look, no, no wristband veterans, man.
No respect, right? No risk Bend made calls on his own.
You know what I mean? I just I was certain is actually is good as chub because, like, really, mixing is on my old d bag team off.
I'm not a fan of him personally, but I think quality, I think he's a good back.
You got to remember last year he was he was killing it.
But the thing about it underestimated size to he's a big boy, right? So, yeah, this is but, you know, rushing.
I think it's kind of a toss up.
Look, if you look on ESPN and you look at this matchup, uh, predictor Right now it's Cleveland at 62% and most people think that they're gonna win the game versus 37% for Cincinnati.
I'm obviously gonna get my pick a little bit later on on my sports guy.
Mike's picks, Uh, podcast I'm gonna do later.
But look it to me.
I don't know if it's really a toss up.
I think everybody is gonna be shocked.
And I think Joe Burrow is going to shock a lot of people tonight.
Just saying, uh, that's my That's my biggest thing.
Alright, Some injury reports.
Devante Parker aggravated a lingering hamstring injury halfway through the Dolphins Week one loss to the Patriots.
The only reason I'm bringing this one up because it's the first one on my list.
And be honest with you.
What is this Miami Dolphins team doing? Are we going to see to a tongue of by a low? Uh, yes.
Once are we out that he's 100% healthy? That was a game plan all along.
I think e doing some smoke and mirrors.
You think so? I honestly think that Fitzpatrick is always gonna be that guy that could come in.
And when you couple games somewhere down the line, but they don't wanna win games.
What? Maybe you don't wanna win games.
Well, did they do that up here for next year? I was gonna say they do that last year after Trevor Lawrence or anything like that.
In fact, they're lucky that to a fell to them, right? Honest with you.
No, I mean, I don't think for the Dolphins issues about winning.
I think this year is about setting foundation, and you can easily put two in there.
And whether you win four games, six games, whatever, like does it really matter? Mike, like, does it like in the scheme of things like, let's say, if Drew lock her for the Broncos, they're heading for, like, a four or five game win this year.
That's the way it ISS and Portland Sutton out.
Man, Dude, like they were putting Jerry, Judy and positions that he just wasn't ready for.
No, you can tell.
Like depth is important.
And I think Miami is kind of in the same spot.
Another team that's just kind of worse for where, you know.
And I talked about them this morning having you know, one of the top ticket sales, that the fact that these guys lose $27 million per home game, the Jets and the Giants.
So unbelievable you want to talk about, you know? Ah, fan base that is completely devoted.
Yeah. Two teams.
Do you guys he wants to buy the Jets, man.
Maybe they should just sell it to him.
Let me, um, Bells got a hamstring is on the injured reserve.
What it dude, I want to send this out to all the NFL players.
You're in a good situation.
Look what happened.
The bell and brown like there are relevant now.
And look, I say on this program all the time, let me in.
Bell is the poster child of what not to do.
When you have a tag in front of you, you take it.
Just, you know, it's kind of play that way.
You don't think that you are better than the game or bigger than the game because you're not.
You know, you wanted all that money and you ended up with $4 million less than what you wanted or what Pittsburgh was even gonna offer you, you idiot.
But regardless, Levian Bell is on the i r.
Meaning Frank Gore moves into that starting role.
This is a 37 year old running back.
Is he gonna make the difference that Levian couldn't really is the guy that just goes out there every week? You can count on him for, like, three yards of carry.
He's not going to get tackled for a loss like this is something that will probably help Sam. Sam Donald.
Is he as good as Bell? Now? He's not, but he's 100%.
I mean, he's always available.
He's always available and he's a he's a pro's pro, and I gotta be honest with you. I love Sam. Donald.
I don't know what's going on with him. We talked about Baker.
What is going on with the Jets? I mean, Sam Donald should be like making some big strides this year, and I just don't think they surround him enough with enough wide receiver help or, you know, maybe go get one of those blue chip tight end something.
I mean, the Jets just can't figure it out.
Ever since I was a kid on and I'm 50 one years old, they haven't been able to figure it out since Joe Nemeth broke the the last time I remember enjoying watching the Jets is when Chad Pennington was there.
I think Byron left, Which may be for a Yeah, Yeah.
I mean, dude, I remember the days of, like, Richard Todd, and it's just they were horrible.
The Jets have always been horrible.
They just rode out with Tebow and just let him keep going, man.
He know, right? You would think it's just a horse.
Yeah, they've never They've never been, uh, they've never been a good team for some reason.
Now, the Broncos have a pair of skill position players.
Toe watch receiver Courtland Sutton with his shoulder.
He did have limited practice yesterday.
Chris and the Broncos hope Thio he can improve enough through the remainder of the week to play against my Steelers.
Now, you do have Phillip Lindsay out with turf toe.
He did not practice weeks.
No, this is looking bad for Philip.
Yeah, he's probably not coming back.
They gotta hand the rock off to freaking Melvin Gordon often and as much as possible.
Is he coming back? No, I Honestly I think they're gonna protect him from himself.
Because, really, if you look on the schedule This isn't if the Broncos won this game, it would just be gravy.
You know what I mean? That this is a Pittsburgh just a better team than the Broncos are this year.
So why would you put your number one player out there on offense to play? I mean, for dude, like, I think they're gonna protect him from himself.
I have him in all my fantasy league because I was able to get him late like he's like messing me up right now.
But with Phillip Lindsay, here's one thing that I think Denver's not being fair to.
I watched Royce Freeman a ball a couple of times on Monday night, and it was good.
Yeah, nothing wrong with it.
He was a beast at Oregon, and I think he just kind of fell through the cracks with all the different coordinators he had and stuff.
Do I think he's a zoo? Good as Melvin Gordon or anything like that? No, but I think he is a great number two.
Yeah, I think they can.
If Phillips out for, like, six weeks.
I think that Denver Broncos, they're going to be fine in the run game, and I don't think it's fair that everyone's just, you know, throwing Royce Freeman out like he's a bum.
He ain't a bomb.
I have always felt bad for Royce Freeman.
Okay? I always felt like somebody else would just come along.
You made a great point of having different coordinators, coaches, things of that nature that is obviously stifled.
His career just has as far as being a Bronco, it just has.
So, you know, he's still there, though, which I honestly was kind of shocked.
I'm like, Okay, they're keeping Roy screaming.
Maybe something inspired.
Least Yeah, Booker was kind of like, Have you interviewed Royce? Royce is like, No, you have a guy.
No, I wish I have a nice, nice just just the gentleman.
Maybe we'll have to get him on guys.
That just you root for.
You know what I mean? Right? You know, he's got it in the right position, and that's what it's about in the NFL.
Yeah, it's definitely there.
Look, I look forward to seeing him get He's definitely going to get some touches.
Uh, with Philip being out, he's gonna obviously be the number two Malvo.
Gordon will be that Number one in l. A.
Uh, the Chargers center Mike Pouncey missed the opening game with a hip injury.
Uh, the same one that plagued him for most of 2016.
I guess they're just going to stick with Dan Feeney, I guess, for now.
But Mike Pouncey, big, big presence in that center position.
This is a guy that they're gonna miss.
He needs to get healthy as soon as possible.
He was not at practice on Wednesday.
Here's the funny thing.
Like, I feel like the Chargers and the Dolphins air in kind of a similar position, even though the yeah, the Chargers have more veterans and stuff.
You know, Keenan Allen and all those guys.
You know, Justin Herbert is waiting in the wings and I think he's gonna be out sooner than later.
But I'll tell you this.
I got insider information.
Justin Herbert is not sniffing the field until Pouncey is healthy.
Let's just put it that way.
Well, that would that would be four weeks.
Yeah, there's no no chance.
Yeah, yeah, you're not gonna You're not gonna put in your, you know, your star draft pick the guy that's gonna, you know, be your guy for the foreseeable future and put them in behind Dan Feeney.
No, just not gonna happen.
Especially guide that tall and stuff used to being in the shotgun right from under center.
You talked about Baker Mayfield's three and five step drops.
I mean, I think Justin's worked really hard, but Mike, he never was under center all through college.
Not one time, Never.
Not even though, like kill clock, right? Yeah, he's gonna need He's gonna need Mike Pouncey for sure.
Just saying, um, again, you got Golden Tate his hamstring down.
Here's another team that you, you know, has a lot of woes.
The New York Giants.
You know, Golden Tate's bounced around the NFL a little bit here.
This is another guy that's just gonna have toe, you know, find a way to get back into the mix because Daniel Jones is gonna need a guy with veteran hands like golden tape.
The Daniel Jones things weird to me.
He was getting taken high and drafts.
Yeah, when I say hi like fifth round stuff like that for a guy like that.
I saw him in the 3rd and 4th.
Yeah, Dude, isn't that crazy? Like, why would you do that? Um, but his shepherd's still a giant.
I think I saw him catch something I'm like, How old is that? Dude? That guy has been around, man.
He's the guy that veteran just always there.
Kind of like a Frank Gore.
I mean, obviously not Frank Gore.
He's all right, but you know what I mean? I was like, Wow, that guy still there? Nice.
Shepherd, is there one consummate true veteran True wide receiver on that New York Giants offense, period? Um, yeah, he has been around a while, and, you know, he didn't do too bad last week against my Steelers, but he's got He's got to hit the ground running this week.
Coming up for sure.
Detroit Lions have receiver Kenny Gala Day didn't practice for the third straight day dating to last week.
This is a guy again.
Now they're gonna have to start looking at some of the rookies.
They they went out and got They're gonna have to start looking at Marvin Hall.
Um, Kevin, Gala day.
Kenny Golladay, Not being there for, uh uh Oh, my God.
For ah, thing is no quarterback.
Quarterback for the Lions.
Why can't I think of his name? Stafford.
I thought you were gonna have some fancy name dude or something.
I didn't know where you were going.
You were No helping all eso, Matt.
Patricia, you know, is looking at this guy for veteran reign Rick Bro.
Patricia is looking for that veteran.
Help to help out with Matthew Stafford over in Detroit.
Kenny Golladay has got to get healthy sooner than later.
Yeah, well, you know what? I love Matt Stafford.
Man, that guy is just underrated.
Yeah, he's underrated.
He's in Detroit.
What do you expect in Detroit? Losing.
He kind of does that, but he puts up nice stats.
Honestly, Mike, I don't think he cares.
He throws it to hey, could throw it to you and me if we're open, and I would do that.
And so he's one of the few quarterbacks in the NFL right now that I don't know if the weapons matter as much as just him balling out.
You know it Z because you know we talked about Drew lock and we talked about Sam.
Donald, I think those guys need a little help.
Man, if Matt Stafford was on a team, just think about, you know, funny to listen to What if Matt Stafford was at Tampa Bay instead of Tom Brady? Right now, you know what I'm saying? Yeah.
Yeah, that's true. Winston.
Last year without all the other side is probably that that is true.
Speaking of Tampa Bay, a big big hit is Chris Godwin.
Uh, he's in concussion protocol after he got hit on that fourth down on Sunday.
Um, Michael Thomas for the Saints is also gonna be out and probably even a bigger hit.
George Kittle eyes battling a sprained left knee that kept him out of practice Wednesday for the 40 Niners.
Look, 40 Niners already don't have a receiving corps.
George Kittel, was it? They are going to struggle until they can get that until Jimmy G can get that security blanket back known as George Kittle.
I just think that 40 Niners defense just needs to turn it loose and kinda, you know, I think I think they played a little bit conservative last week.
Okay? I don't think they could do that.
That's the bread and butter of what they do.
They just need to send the horses.
You know what I mean? Yeah, it's kind of play, you know? We're gonna win with defense and running the ball.
That's what they're going to do.
And I don't know if they could do it in that division.
To be honest with you No, you can t hawks.
You already saw what? Atlanta What Arizona did to him.
You're like, Yeah, You know what? I would pick the rams over them any day right now for sure.
They're coming out hurt.
They're not coming out swinging, which is unfortunate, actually.
This is the team that was in the Super Bowl last year and does not even look like a Super Bowl contender at this point.
And I have them going.
Oh, no, I'm looking my sheet.
I have them, um, actually have them in the NFC championship game.
Yeah, Tampa Bay verse San Francisco.
Yeah, they don't all the way this year.
They don't They don't look it, That's who.
That's who Tony has.
Winning it all is Tampa.
I have Kansas City playing top.
I'll say the word, but I ain't picking them for nothing, man.
Who? Them guys? Tampa Casey Way The barbecue team.
The barbecue team.
Another guy, The Michael Thomas. Him.
Ah, his status is doubtful with that high ankle sprain.
That's gonna be We talked about this show, so that's gonna be a big hit for them.
I'm getting a manual.
Um, yeah, the Chris Godwin.
Why, uh, he that that that's gonna hurt Tom Brady a little bit too.
Although he kept dropping passes that time of stone him anyway.
We'll focus on Mike Evans this week to because correct bad game he needs.
Yeah, he needs to hook up with Kevin's.
Ah, little, a little more often again.
All right, y'all y'all.
Thanks so much for hanging out with us and making this part of your day.
We appreciate it as always.
Tomorrow we're gonna talk about Roy Jones thinks that he made a mist ake in fighting Mike Tyson.
We'll talk about that.
We'll talk about that tomorrow and before we go, I gotta leave you guys with this.
Of course, football is back, right? I gotta ask you Chris Ah, Company that owns an Anheuser Busch called Babe.
Wine just created three football Senate candles.
Okay, One smells like artificial turf.
One smells like nachos, and one smells like a jockstrap.
Any of those going on your mantel? No, Maybe nachos.
But then you catch me eating it when I have had too many of those buzz wise is it just tastes like nachos.
I know, right? I think I would take the artificial turf fields. I would take that.
Not jockstrap, I guess. Yeah.
And I'm not paying 69 bucks for all three of those candles workout clothes in my own here.
That I don't need that.
All right, y'all, Chris, Anything you want to say the Nice.
But before we get out here, nobody.
Hey, thanks for having me on.
And we'll see you again tomorrow, bud.
All right, you all take care.
Thanks again for hanging out with us.
And as I say around here all the time, don't sweat small stuff right here, too.
