We had a lot of really good week one game football is even better.
Yes, and I will trade Thursday Night Football for a double slate of Monday Night Football.
In my opinion, I love having football till midnight on Mondays.
That was nice for you guys on the East Coast.
I was loving that.
I think Monday's a great day where we're all really not busy.
We're all craving something great on TV.
Give us two games, give us to prime time Monday night games.
I'll take it every week, although Thursday night it's nice to break up that week sometimes and have a little something in the middle.
I could get that argument.
But you know, I think everyone's got their misconception of Thursday night.
Anyways, a lot of players don't like playing on it.
There's been more injuries in the past.
I really haven't heard too many positive things about Thursday Night Football to be real with you.
It's really Sunday and Monday and even the Saturday Games that they've sprinkled in throughout the last few years.
Those have been really interesting to, but you know, you gotta think about college and whatever other sports are going on.
But yeah, before we get into it? Of course.
Thank you so much for joining me, brother.
Really do appreciate it again.
Shout out to our people Unwrapped sports.

So definitely thank you so much for showing us.
All right, let's get into our first game today.
I'm gonna bring up the ticker for that. In just one second.
We got Pittsburgh and the Giants.
So let's get right into it.
Of course, I want to hear your thoughts.
Just initially off the 26 to 16 win for Pittsburgh, I thought it was a lot more exciting than maybe the score showed, But I want to hear what you thought about this game and really just week one, I guess football being back, you know? But this game in particular, Yeah, I mean, I think we had a lot of really good week, one games, obviously, a lot of surprises because we didn't have the preseason with this game in general.
I mean, there was a lot of bright spots, I think offensively and defensively for both teams.
But I think the thing that stood out to me the most was the Pittsburgh offense, obviously, the long anticipated way of Ben Roethlisberger and how his elbow would hold up little bit of a slow start there, but really got it going once he was clicking.
I think he's got a lot of great weapons toe work with.
You know, John Johnson juju looks like he's back and form a little bit.
Mawr Chase Claypool made a great play.
James Washington made another amazing touchdown, so I think he's got a lot of pieces that work with.
They obviously lost James Connor, but I think the biggest thing I noticed was just big Ben, you know, kind of returning the form, and I think, you know, just within the network, we've talked about the Steelers kind of being a little bit of a sleeper team there for potential, not just a playoff run but a Super Bowl runs.
But, I mean, definitely looking.
I think it's also that coaching staff to Tomlin's been there, you know? Yeah, and their defense is great already.
You know, they have a great you know, front seven there.
They obviously made the trade.
For Minka Fitzpatrick, the might have been the best might have been the best trade in the last decade.
You know, you can't really, I guess, evaluated too much with just partial season there right now.
But he made him from zero to hero and, of course, give the credit Thio, T. J.
Watt and other guys that came in there.
But Dupri and really, really stepped up.
But Fitz is just unreal.
And for a first round pick, what do you hope for in a first round? Pick half of a player that you got in return for Minka and he's just really, really up this identity.
And when you brought up James Connor, let's talk about that for a quick second because I want to talk about Big Ben a little bit longer.
I know James Connor.
It says that he went out with an ankle sprain.
They're pretty confident he'll come back in a timely matter.
With that being said, I'm never going to call the guy injury prone.
I'm never gonna say anything like that, really.
Edwin the fantasy docket are Network has really just gave me PTSD on that.
I don't believe injury prone is thing.
I guess I got, I guess, a guy that's just extremely unlucky and in bad situations, I guess.
But hey has been very unlucky with injuries.
You know, there's been quite a lot and let's get this straight.
James Connor beat cancer like when it comes to a kind of man he is and being resilient.
E don't know if there's another man in the NFL that could even touch that.
The guy is just amazing role model and just such a tough human being as a football player.
The only thing that you can say is he just doesn't seem to finish seasons.
Obviously, with a full slate of games, he obviously seems to leave games a little early often on.
I just noticed that there's always a little something and and I was happy with Benny Snell.
I know we could bring that up very quickly and I know Benny Snell was a guy that I expected to go and take those second wraps.
But Jalen Samuels really just didn't get involved, really at all.
Even after the Snell fumble, I was expecting them to maybe give Sam was a little bit more of a shot or even McFarland.
I'm pretty sure that's a rookie over there, too, is very interesting.
But if they just seemed like they were very confident in Benny Snell.
So I'm very interested for Benny.
Smells fantasy value. James Connors.
Long term value for that, really necessarily.
But, you know, I guess we really brought up what we need to there.
But I have Edwin.
Porous, of course, are injury, Doc, you know, right here.
I'm just pulled up a little list from him.
For James Connor.
Thing I saw yesterday, said James James Connor injury history since entering the league, M C L Rupture connective tissue and contact injury.
That's one too high ankle sprain.
Connective tissue and contact injury.
Three A C sprain, connective tissue and contact injury and four quad contusion.
Those air four pretty different looking injuries that aren't detrimental, necessarily, but it's not like he keeps banging up that same arm or that same ham spring, and it's the thing that's been lingering for years.
It seems like it's just a bunch of different stuff that he gets really, unfortunately, has to deal with every year.
Yeah, I think it's just him taking a lot of hits, you know, obviously being kind of the Belk out there, and I mean, maybe a little bit of a concern with it being lower body injuries.
But here's the thing about James Conner.
I mean, he hasn't really been ableto build off that big first season when Lady on Bell was out.
I mean, he had a really good year that year.
And then, obviously, you know, like he said, he faced a lot of injuries, But I think, you know, the next year and even this year, they they were like other teams were able to prepare for him a little bit mawr and what he's able to do.
But like you said, I mean finish knows the third round running back from, I think last year, the year before e.
I think there's, you know, James Carter was a third round running back to, but I think it's just kind of, like, next man up mentality and many smells kind of capitalizing on the opportunity.
I mean, the fumbles don't help.
And I think that's why Connor can still be in the mix here.
You know, you didn't see a lot of Jaylen Samuels e think they have confidence in Connor, too? It's not like they're just giving up on him, necessarily.
It's a sprained ankle.
You know, you're gonna have to do what you gotta do.
And really quickly before we continue.
Let's bring in some comments from the team.
We got Anthony Conover here.
Got the big Boss Man alive today.
You know, I'm gonna give my time.
Always e love it, man.
And Alex, who, of course, is usually holding it down here.
Never wears any color T shirt besides black, white or gray.
And I don't even know if raise an option.
But, you know, I always gotta bring color when I'm covering for Alex.
Like I always have.
I always have to.
It's not even I even got the tattoos showing today like extra color like we got Anthony.
It's not always about you.
Alex will be wearing one on the backstop banner.
We've got Anthony covering on Backstop Banner to look out for him this week.
Oh, yeah, A screen there.
Okay, we're taking over the NFL port.
A stairway to seven.
He says for the Steelers that z on gonna be a shame when they're typical.
Zone defense gets shredded. Yeah.
Okay, So, e, I want to talk about Big Ben.
Let's talk about him and what he did today or yesterday.
21 for 32 229 yards, 7.
2 yards of completion, three touchdowns, zero interceptions.
Got hit much more than twice, I'll tell you that.
I was impressed.
Like you said in the beginning, I was a little nervous because I saw him.
The first couple drives and it was like he looks a little shaky.
I don't think he has that connection, which you would expect from a guy who's been out for 365 days with no off season and a lot of pieces.
That he may be hasn't had the time to really build that report with, besides juju for that first year.
But I was so impressed how he just really settled in.
He really started getting that confidence going.
I really thought it looked like the big band of old, especially in the second half.
You know, you saw him starting to click.
Deonte Johnson really, really looked shaky in the beginning.
He ****ed that punt and then just really couldn't really get his hands on the ball whenever he was getting his targets.
If that was an arid throw from big, bad or just him making a drop, it didn't look like Deontay was really feeling it.
And then you had juju Smith Schuster on the other end, who ended up with six receptions, 69 yards and two touchdowns, two touchdowns for a guy who said he wanted to have more fun playing football again.
I think he's having more fun playing football again.
You got the guy like he's like this and then so he's taking his feet up like he's so cute.
You know what I mean? You got the whole team that they're lying.
He's one of the best touchdown celebration guys in the NFL, so I'm glad he's getting back into the end.
So that's the thing.
I mean, like we're getting to see Judy progress.
I mean, he went through a carousel quarterbacks last year who just went on the same page.
I think part of him having more fun is having his guy back there at quarterback and being able to connect with.
And I think we really saw that in that first two minute drill going into the going into the half where Ben was like All right, we got to get it going.
We gotta get some points on the board.
Giants are a little too close for us right here, and he was just connected and firing.
And I think he's got a lot of weapons.
But like you said, gotta develop that chemistry And I think this is a perfect way for him to kind of get done with some of the guys.
And I think Deontay Johnson, progressing for another year and what he was able to do last year with, Like you said, the quarterbacks with big bad expect a great year.
Expect great things from beyond Johnson this year, especially since you could consider him the number two and after a week one performance like that from Juju, you better believe that There's defensive coordinators on zoom calls right now trying to figure out, OK, Jews back, big bands back.
How do we stop this? What do we dio? You're gonna have a lot of focus put on to Juju Smith Schuster while Deonte Johnson, although he led the team in targets, by the way.
So don't you know, forget that he had 10 targets? He's gonna really benefit from a lot more attention to juju and the fact that with Vance McDonald and Ebron, Ebron didn't really get involved too much in the passing game.
There's more things to account for it in the Steelers offense, on top of bringing back Big Ben, who's obviously fantastic.
And I think James Connor Benny Snell doesn't really matter who you have back there.
That's not the focal point of the offense this year.
I think you need to get a run game going to get the pass at the play action, going to get a lot of these guys time to get down the field.
But at the same time, I don't think it's gonna be run first past second.
You know, with big band deck.
This has to be ah, slightly more air raid offense and killer defense.
So it's It's a weird like modification of old school football with that hard nosed defense and new school football with the air raid.
I think it's one of the only teams that have really built identities like that, and I'm really interested to see what the Steelers could do, especially since Big Ben.
You know, he's a bit old, but he still was able to move around in the pocket, even with that knee escapes.
Um, you know, Sacks And he picked up nine yards on the ground.
And I thought that was impressive for his three attempts with the nine yards he was able to get, especially since it was more than, say, Kwan Barkley, who had What was it? Seven.
Yeah, let's call that a six yard six yards.
Yeah, 15 carries, six yards, 60.
4 point four a carry.
Yeah, you could definitely tell he was fresh eyes.
I mean, you you touched on a little bit with just the other weapons that have.
That's the scary part to me.
He hasn't even gotten Ebron advance.
MacDonald involves like that.
He hasn't gotten Connor Samuels finish no involved in the passing game.
So you tryto key in on some of these guys, like, dude, you, Deon Johnson, they got a weapons across the board.
I mean, right now, the championship window is pretty small with Big Ben's age.
Obviously so probably two years, I'll probably say, Two year window.
What if he's 37 going on 38 or 37? Coming off? Coming off a pretty tough injury to that, too.
You got a factor that in, So? Yeah, probably two years.
So you got to get it going quick and get on with these guys.
But great first performance back.
I mean, I think they said it first touchdown in that game since December of 2018 and you e think Or have you seen, like the do***ented with big band going through his rehab process? A whole thing.
I haven't seen the full of thing, but it looks it was gruesome.
I mean, what he had to go through, like, actually get that elbow rehabilitated and everything.
So they look like it hindered him too much last night.
He's been really working on it.
He chopped up the beard a little bit he looks like he's on it.
Looks like the Steelers you're gonna be Oh, he looks confident.
Here's the question.
Is this a team? I mean, I don't want to overreact to much much, you know, right after the first game.
But is this a team that you think it's gonna be competing with the Ravens? I mean, for a Navy like, could they win the A F C North? I guess. My question.
That's a good question.
I personally don't think so.
Just because the Ravens are so good on both side of the ball and you look at last year's team, it was great.
And then you got better This year. You had a killer draft.
You made some really smart signings.
I think the Ravens got better.
So for Lamar Jackson Hole hole, another year of improvement and progression.
And you have even more dangerous, Um, targets now and J. K. Dobbins.
You got another year progression for Marqise Brown.
You have more time on the field for Mark Andrews.
I just think right now it's that Steelers Year.
In my opinion toe win the Super Bowl, and I mean I'm a Cowboys fan.
I want to sit here and tell you cowboy Super Bowl every year.
You know, it's fun.
I like saying that.
It's probably the first year I felt really confident that we've taken a step forward.
You know, new coaching staff, you know, really good draft.
You know, I definitely think the Cowboys were in a good spot.
Obviously didn't look great in week one, but I'm not gonna go put my hat on them or this.
I put the Cowboys in the Steelers, probably in the same round this year.
They have a chance? Absolutely.
They're good teams with good, you know, good pieces, but and it differently.
Configured teams, the Steelers arm or defensive focus with a veteran presence back there while the Cowboys air flash.
You have all the star potential in the world, you know, but are dealing with injuries, late van dress.
And you know, now they're starting Tonto like Darwin.
Yeah, they're starting tight end, so it's gonna be tough, but I think like I said, back to the Steelers, I think they're in the same tear where they have a chance.
I'm not gonna put them as competitors yet.
You know, people that really, really can compete with the Ravens and the Chiefs until I start to see the year really pulled trends.
Mawr See how these teams continue to connect because Week one, it's so easy to make Overreactions and so easy that just label a team bust or a Super Bowl contender.
And then the next week they come out and just look completely flat.
So or just the opposite.
The guy guys like the Browns, who came out and looked awful Week one.
Play the Bangles week, too, and maybe put up 40.
Who knows? You know, And then we say, OK, maybe the coaching staff just needed more time to gel and blah, blah, blah.
No offseason, like there's so many things that you could say that are going to skew your thinking if it teams ah, contender or pretender right now.
But I definitely think the Steelers should be feeling great about this defense for years to come.
I mean, ****ey Fitzpatrick, TJ Why? But you pre looks like a freaking animal.
Just £280 flying off the edge, just everywhere, stirred by man like, if there's a guy that's taken the biggest leap on that defense, it's him and you got Bush from last year.
Ball Hawk and this team is freaking loaded.
You still got Joe Hayden, who is on the older part, are, you know, the latter part of his career, but he still could go out there and ball.
He's got the I Q.
Probably one of the higher IQ's out of any secondary player in the league, so you have a ham.
Hayward had that interception because of Bud Dupri putting on that pressure way.
So it's a good formula for the Steelers There.
Like you said, their championship window with Ben is probably a year or two with that being said, when he leaves, look what they did last year with crap quarterbacks and no plan.
They almost made it.
They almost did it last year.
They really created some some hype around this team, and I think even losing big band in the next couple years.
If you plan correctly with the draft or a nice free agent pickup, I'm confident the Steelers can keep this going for the next decade and compete year in and year out and see if what pieces they need.
Let's talk a little bit about the Giants.
Uh, let's talk about the Giants.
Obviously, I'm a Cowboys fan, so I'm not the biggest Giants fan.
Personally, I enjoyed watching them lose.
With that being said, I do enjoy certain pieces of this team.
I'm a massive Darius Slaten fan, I think Slaten, one of the more underrated receivers in the league, and I already said he's gonna break out this year.
Top 20 fantasy wide receiver said that before the season started and he comes out and he puts up numbers.
This guy puts up six receptions, 102 yards, two touchdowns, 17 yards a catch.
Just that perfect chemistry with Danny Dimes looks amazing.
And let's talk about Daniel Jones really quickly.
I saw a lot of things I liked from Daniel Jones this game.
I saw a lot of things I didn't like from Daniel Jones.
I think that's what you're gonna get with the young quarterbacks, especially Jason Garrett led offense as a Cowboys fan.
I hate the man, but with that being said, he is a much better offensive coordinator than he is a head coach.
He's got too much responsibility to worry about.
It doesn't have that he's not cut like that, But he is a smart football mind when he on Lee has to focus on offense.
With that being said, he falls in love with too many pieces under, utilizes his main stars.
So I heard him say he loves his tight end room.
All four of them can contribute, and I'm sitting there for Evan Ingram like you have potentially one of the best Titans in the last decade in regards to receive it.
And if he could stay healthy and you're telling me that you're in love with Caden Smith, you're getting me get feed the man, you know it's that.
And then with sake, Juan, what are you going to do? You know, I think it was a blessing to see him still getting involved in the passing game, and that helped Daniel Jones.
But the run blocking is one of the worst run blocking I've ever seen in my entire life.
Their past blocking held up enough at times and you know I went around.
It was bad, man.
It was really bad.
That's a work in progress.
You got Cam Fleming, who followed Garrett, who wasn't even starting with Dallas.
He's They're starting now.
Will Hernandez is like a second year player.
Believe second or third, he's really young.
You obviously have a lot of young pieces on this O line that need to improving it.
What was Andrew Thomas from Georgia? The rookie? Um, they have a lot of good pieces.
With that being said, they're not a good unit yet.
They're not even close to a good unit.
And, you know, with, say, Kwan, is this concerning to you for Let's talk fantasy value for a second? Just because I know stay Kwan is this consensus number one or two pick in every single draft, except for if you have a bias on someone else or you're playing like a super flex or something like that.
But in just a normal league, CMC 6161 is just an absolute monster.
You see a 15 carry for six yard performance.
How do you feel about that? Although we have the receptions six reception, 60 yards, which should make you feel good.
But how do you feel about 66 total yards with both combined? No touchdowns like what is his fantasy value? Moving forward and it's not even his fault, but really everything else around it.
But what do you think? Yeah, I mean, I think the biggest thing is that I mean one for sake, Juan, I'm not too concerned.
I mean, you definitely.
When you draft the guys like the consensus number two, you expect him toe top 100 total yards, every single game.
Probably put a touchdown somewhere in there.
But that's the thing, too.
Is that you can also sal***e games like that.
15 carry six yards didn't help out.
Daniel Jones didn't help out the Giants offense in terms of being, you know, they were very one dimensional because of that.
But I think from a fantasy perspective, I mean, I guess it just depends.
I mean, if you have been a standard league, you're not getting too many points from, say, Kwan.
But if you have been a half PPR full PPR, I mean, I think that, you know, you play a tough defense, you expect that he's obviously the best player, but I wouldn't be too concerned just yet because what he could do in the passing game and how dynamic he could still look against a good defense on some of those screenplays or slip plays that he was getting last night.
So not overly concerned. I mean, you, definitely.
If you draft in number two, you might have lost one of your first games, just depending on how the rest of your draft shakes up on how big your league is.
But, you know, I think there's a lot of people that probably come out and I'm thinking like, Oh, let me try to see if I get take long for cheaper, You know, I was gonna say right now is this like, Let's talk dynasty.
Alright, not even Let's just talk both.
Is this a by now opportunity? Or is this a cell now? Opportunity If yours.
If you're a safe one.
Are you looking to sell? If you're not a safe one on, are you looking to buy? I'm definitely looking the bias.
Someone who's not a Sequana under 100% I get.
It depends on the type of fantasy players you have in your league.
You know, people you're playing against.
If you could get, maybe there's gonna be somebody that makes a week when somebody I'm trying trying to think of like a package like I would definitely try to put like some couple running backs of smaller tears and put it together.
And she goes or even even, like a guy like Mark Ingram and other pieces that, like, maybe still has that name value but might lose it throughout the season if he continues to lose the starting job.
If you're gonna go out and trade, I got, like, 61 you're gonna need at least a running back.
So if we're talking Dynasty, you put up an offer from Mark Ingram.
You know, a guy that's really solid at wide receiver and maybe a first round pick or two for the future.
You know, you gotta consider it if you're in a freak out mode.
But if I'm a steak one owner, I know the value.
I know why I drafted him there.
I'm not gonna freak out over that, especially in Dynasty, because they're gonna figure it out.
He's the focal point.
And if you got traded today to any of these other teams, I'm confident in Sichuan.
You know what I mean? Like, he's one of those e don't really care where he's at the guy couldn't.
It was a brick wall that he was trying to run through yesterday and still found a way to get six receptions, 60 yards, dashing down the field, hurdling over someone.
The guy is electric, absolutely electric, but for Danny before we move on.
26 for 41 279 yards, two touchdowns.
Both the Slaten two interceptions sacked three times.
Give me your thoughts on Danny Dimes.
Maybe right now also has long term value.
Did you like what you saw from him in regards? Thio? You know, ball protection.
And then you have, like, 16 fumbles last year.
Something like, There's a lot of things I hated about Danny Dimes last year.
I don't know if I hated anything this game, you know, I think e I like, you know, I like how he's progressing.
It looks like he's definitely a little bit more confident.
Just what he's able to dio Definitely a lot more athletic than I realized.
I think he showed that last night.
I think the most disappointing thing that I saw last night was the 19 play drive where he's rolling out to his weak side there and tries to throw a pass, you know, with open chest their off balance and then gets hit by Buddy Pre.
We mentioned it can they would end up taking off.
I think the biggest thing is just capitalizing on opportunities.
I mean, you get a chance at the beginning of the game when Deontay Johnson ****in there inside the five and they can't score, you know, then they have another opportunity on a 19 play drive where you're tiring out this Pittsburgh defense and you don't get any points out of it.
I think the biggest thing I know it, you kinda you kinda capitalized on the red zone opportunities.
And I know that doesn't always fall directly on the quarterback, But in some ways it does your your leading that offense, you know, whatever player give you should be able to check out the line, make adjustments, uh, understand the defense.
And I know the tough defensive scheme to kind of understand at the line.
But the biggest thing I think that, you know, I wanna see moving forward is just him getting his team into the end zone.
More so than settling for field goals or even losing opportunities.
No, I completely agree.
And I think the confidence comes from a new coaching staff that extra year.
And like I said, I hate Jason Garrett.
But when he's focused on offensive coordinator and he, he is such a long tenured coach in the league, like he's been there, and with a coach now at the helm, that's from the Patriot system.
You have some structure like the coaching staff was an absolute mess the last few years, and you have some structure for the first time since Tom Coughlin.
So you should feel good.
If you're Daniel Jones about the situation that you're in.
The weapons that you have should be feel good about your offensive line.
You should be buying them dinners.
You should be making them train all day, all night.
You should be talking to your coaches about picking up anybody at the trade deadline in regards to a big name for an offensive guard or anything like that.
I think that there's a lot to feel decent about, though, for the Giants moving forward.
I think I think offensively, I'm not super word like yeah, like you said, shore up the offensive line, you know that units got to come together and get some chemistry.
Probably the only concern.
Probably the biggest concern for the Giants might be the secondary.
I mean, they've obviously had a lot of guys opt out.
Or, you know, they had the whole DeAndre Baker issue who's not even on the team anymore, and you better take it to him.
I mean, you got signed James Bradberry from the Panthers.
Who for me, personally, I never really thought he was a great corner.
Maybe I didn't watch a ton of Panthers game, but he got a pretty big deal.
So he's your number one now.
You got Pepper. Exactly.
At least you got some experience.
So, you know, Big Ben through for a lot of yards.
He threw three touchdowns last night.
Or maybe not a lot of yards threw for 2 29.
Still a good amount, I think.
If anything, he was just more accurate than anything.
Gotta be ableto, you know, contain the passing game a little bit more.
But I mean, I think overall moving forward, I think the Giants looks like a pretty decent team. Now.
We'll see how they compete the rest of the way, especially in the NFC East, where absolutely looks like a lot of good teams, even the Washington football team.
They're making some the way.
So I mean, they're finally well coached.
You know, Ron Revere.
First off Ron Rivera.
My hat goes off to you, but like the fact that the fact that he's coaching right now with ****ing cancer my dad has cancer right now, it's the third time he's been around it.
That z debilitating like that shouldn't be so tough on you.
And it takes the strongest people to not just be able to fight through it, but continue to live their lives and thrive and help others.
And guys like my father and Ron Rivera are just amazing people just able to still go out there and keep that positivity.
He did an Ivy at halftime and he cleared it up for everyone.
This was not like a need.
I wasn't feeling ill.
This was preplanned, just in case to keep me at the top of the game and first off, shout out to him for thinking ahead and the, you know, the doctors and stuff to make sure that he's I'd rather you stay safe than sorry.
Take to Ivy's leave halfway through the game twice and take another Ivy if you need to.
I wanna make sure you're straight.
But to see him not just go out there coach of full game but coach this Washington team who's young and hungry to a victory against the Eagles, who are banged up? Absolutely, absolutely that no off season, no off season.
You're coming in your first year, head coach.
You got Dwayne Haskins, who really barely played last year, and you are coming out winning your first game.
You want to know the rest of divisions? Owen one.
Shout out to Ron Rivera.
Man, that guy is an absolute warrior.
I have so much respect for that man.
It's absolutely absurd really quick.

Way it Z, Whatever way.
Got Titans and Broncos.
Let's cover this game.
We got 16 to 14 final score.
Titans victorious in this game.
The kicker for the Titans.
Let's talk him real quick. Laskowski.
The guys in O g.
The guy is a legend.
Do we not remember? He's been winning Super Bowls and kicking clutch field goals for what? The last decade or two.
The guy has been on it.
Let's talk about his performance first, one for four, including the game winning field goal, which was a chip shot 25 yards.
He missed his 1st 33 old goals.
Do you cut this legend? If you are the Titans, do you let it ride a little more? Would it be different if this was a rookie kicker? I'm curious to your opinion.
Well, so this game is interesting, you know, because I'm originally from the national area.
I'm close with a lot of people who are tight stand.
So I just happen to be watching the game with a lot of those people and everyone.
They've had a ton of woes already.
When it comes to the kicking game, it's me.
Last year, when Cairo Santos was over four in the game, where they lost 14 to 7 to the Bills, it's like them and the them and the Bears.
I feel like I have the worst kicking.
So you get Stephen Gastao ski to come in.
You know, he's like you said a legend, and Ogi won Super Bowls kicking and you think like, oh, all are kicking blows air safe only to find out that he's missing his first kick.
His second kick, you know, third kick, missing extra points.
I mean, here's what I'll say, though, because they gave him the confidence to come back out, kicked the game winner, you know, despite the fact that they probably should already been up a lot by this point, kicked the game winner and ultimately moved the one to know that right there makes me believe that Grabel and I'm not sure if they actually play together at the end of the Rebels career.
But that right there makes me think that they have a lot of confidence still in Kosowski and that they're not going to cut them.
Do I think that they should? I mean, no, not yet.
I mean, just because it's one week like you said he's the O. G.
One for four, so I still think there's a lot of good things when it comes to what the house Kikkan dio.
I mean, it's just concerning, and I think a lot of people put it this way.
Though Anthony, like the Browns kicker, for example, didn t miss like one field goal and then one extra point.
I think it was It wasn't even to the same performance and he gets cut and they bring in somebody else.
So the question is, if this was a rookie, would they be cut? Absolutely.
Like, I don't even think it's a question you don't even take a flight back with.
You are cut like that day, like you mean I'm thinking about I'm thinking about the Jets kicker last year.
I mean, I don't even know if he's on the team anymore, but he was, like, over three, including an extra point and end up costing them the game.
So, yeah, if you're costing your team a game, you're cutting.
If Gaddafi misses that last cake, I think he probably would have been cut.
That's the thing.
That's the thing.
If he's over for his, cut, another thing to another question I have for you.
Let's say he made the first field goal and then he missed the last three, including the game winner, and they lost.
Is he cut then? Uh, e think when it comes? Yeah, it is E just someone with so much experience.
You know, here's the thing to he's coming off hip surgery right now, so he hasn't got to kick in any Live games except for this one.
So I want a such as I want to say Yes, I think when you talk about premier kickers and I think monetary went through the stretch last year where he was struggling to, I just don't think you cut people who have a lot of experience, especially the pedigree that people like Bennett, Terry and Gutowski have.
It would be tough and and thank goodness they didn't lose because that would've been a tough one to swallow.
I don't I think you hang on to him, but you're definitely cautious and it was funny.
I saw the Titans had Greg Joseph as particular last year.
He's on the Bucks practice squad and with Kobe gears this year.
You can actually protect like four of your players on they instantly protecting them.
There's kicking walls around the league and they were not gonna e think It's really tough to get a kicker nowadays.
That's consistent and not that it's ever been a shoo in to get a kicker.
That's consistent, but I feel like we've just doing this kicker carousel all year.
There'll be a guy that gets cut the next week.
Someone else misses a kick, so he comes in for a tryout, gets signed.
Then he does well for two weeks that he gets cut.
You know? Think about it.
I just think getting kickers so tough.
That's why I like drafting a really good kicker.
You are solid because you've got this whole rookie contract.
Extending at kicker is not gonna break your bank.
So you got a guy and kickers last for like 50 years.
So if you draft a good kicker not saying drafted kicker in the fourth round and do it Tampa Bay did with, like, Robert a guy.
What was it like five years ago or something like that, but at the same time getting a kicker that is consistent and solid.
I feel like it's such a shot in the dark nowadays.
So to bring in a veteran that's done it, you keep him for another week.
If But if he goes one for four again, it doesn't matter what his resume is.
You're losing game.
At that point, you know you got lucky that you won this game.
If he does that again, I don't care how long you play in the game.
I'm calling for him to get cut.
Yeah, You're definitely bringing someone else, at least to try out.
I mean, position, you want to be sustainable, you don't wanna have to constantly worry about.
It's kind of like, ah, business owner when they're wearing a lot of hats in the business, a kicker would not be something they want to prioritize because something that while it's important, there's so many other important aspect of their business or of the game.
So I'm definitely like you said.
I mean, if you guys want before again, I'm definitely bringing someone.
There's so many more external factors with other positions to like you bring in a guy with how lofty expectations and they're playing a really good defense is other guys around them are getting injured on the offensive line like there's so many things that could affect skill position players and defensive players and stuff.
But when it comes to a kicker and I don't wanna sound like the job isn't a job because it's a great route to the NFL.
It's very important to games, as you see, But don't you have one job? You know, in my opinion, I feel like there is the least amount of external factors you can hit me with weather.
When it's a dome, that doesn't matter.
You can hit me with crowd noise.
Does it matter right now, other things like that.
So why are you missing kicks? I think that's the thing where it's not like Was there a noise that bothered you like was because if the only external thing that I think in message the kicker is if you have the worst long snapper of all time or the worst punter slash backup quarterback, that usually holds the P.
A. T s and field goals.
Oh, yeah, that man, that's all you That's a mental game.
You know what I mean? Like, it's not like you have to read.
Defense is like, What do you do for tape? You know, Are you watching tape as a kicker like, are you watching like the flag? The flag pole, It's Oh, that looks like a little dangerous of a slight left wind.
Like I might have toe study up on that one.
Like, I don't know how intense is it? You know, because I doubt that you should be ableto miss one for four or go one for four and keep your job.
You know, it's just, you know, because Stokowski probably needs toe watch some film this week and just watch his form and just see what I mean.
I think it was just kind of one of those things where the snowball that the confidence was shot.
But, bro, when he took what he took off his shoe and his sock, I was dead, bro.
He's looking at his leg like God, no.
God, no, please, Like, not again.
Like just begging his foot.
Like, please, man, like we're so close.
We made this trip to Tennessee like we went through the pandemic like we're here.
Like, I'll get you a nice, like, get you a many petty after this, Like, take care of you, bro.
Just come through for me, but yeah, What do you do that? What do you do? You take your foot.
You look at it and you go.
Please like, and I think that's what he did.
But we'll see, because I mean, not like he came in there, kicked in a 50 yard field going.
We're like, Yes, sir, there's where he is.
He's finally in, bro.
I could have made that 25 yard field goal.
Get the hell out of here, bro.
Like you need stuff.
Just do. Anyway, at some point.
I mean, when you're over three missed an extra point.
I mean, ****, you missed.
I mean, secondly, he couldn't kick anything past 25 yards.
I mean, 30 three yard extra point wasn't having any of the 40 yard field goals.
So hopefully I mean hip that leg, Let's get back to it because you just get a more chamber getting the whole ice chamber.
We need a new man.
We just need a new man.
Let's get off the kicker discussion, which I've never spent more time talking about a kicker.
Before that, I was just thinking the same thing.
Never, ever thought we started with it, though.
Let's start with Tannehill, who I was really really impressed with on the Titans and Derrick Henry.
Who's Derrick Henry? You know, and you got Mike Vrabel coming in with a mask that says Give the ball to Derrick Henry.
That's what his mask said.
And I'm looking at this guy like every fantasy owner needs to just be praising Vrabel like that is what you want to see.
The guy is saying, Here's what we're doing today.
You're not gonna be able to stop it.
But Tannehill's the key to this offends because Derrick Henry is a downhill runner.
They have a great offensive line.
They couldn't do that all day, every day.
But you're going to stack 50 people in the box if you can't get any past game going, any play action.
And that's why Tannehill succeed so much in this offense.
Not the best completion percentage, 249 yards.
8 yards to completion.
Usually, I'd say is a bit low, But for Tannehill, that looks just about right.
Two touchdowns, zero interceptions.
He's not making mistakes, that's all you can ask for.
9 quarterback rating.
That's a serviceable game.
Ah, 100% like more than service.
I'll take it every time you go out there and you take it and you got your back getting 31 carries.
I'm gonna say that again.
Fantasy owners Rejoice, Rejoice! Not just the fact that he had three receptions, which is something that Derrick Henry has been really, really stressing this offseason.
That he wanted to become more involved with the past game and really improve his receiving.
Three receptions on three targets.
15 yards, Little check downs.
You'll take that 31 carry 116 yards, 3.
7 yards of carry.
He's just gonna tire you out.
This is how he works.
He didn't really break one off as just really consistent, No touchdowns.
So obviously I think you're happy if you're a Titans fan, because what happens when you go four for four from field goals? You add an extra nine points on there, then, yeah, you know and and your game is 25 to 14 you're feeling pretty good about yourself.
You got two touchdowns from Tannehill.
Derrick Henry didn't score, but he's doing what Derrick Henry does and your field gold special teams is looking really solid that's not the case. 16 to 14.
It's a little tighter here, but they didn't make the mistakes that the Broncos really didn't make, either.
I really feel that there was less.
There wasn't too many mistakes in this day.
There wasn't any interceptions, you know? So I definitely feel like it was just a really good defensive battle.
Special teams didn't look too great.
You know, I thought there was a lot of things to feel good about for the Titans, which is where we'll start.
I want to hear your opinion on the Titan set up in what they should be feeling for weeks. Moving forward.
Yeah, so, like I said the time, they're pretty near and dear to my heart, just with all the Titans fans that surround me.
For whatever reason, I'm not a Titan stand, and I chose to pick ah, horrible Jets team, but that za conversation for another day.
But as far as the Titans, I mean e.
I mean, you're happy with the team.
The team that went to the A F C championship one game away from the Super Bowl, one half away from the Super Bowl, and, uh, you know really riding the Derrick Henry trained as much as possible, and I think we saw that the Kim last night.
That's what they're going to do all year, especially after a big contract they gave him, I think with the Titans, Like you said, I think the most impressive thing is a twist.
Offensively, it was Ryan Tannehill and just how he's going to continue to build off his comeback here last year.
You know, obviously, he got a big deal yesterday or not yesterday.
Earlier in the off season there it was, like 10 years ago.
With this pandemic, it feels like you got that years ago.
And so you know, with that, I think Tannehill needs some favorable guys to be able to throw the ball.
And I think the biggest bright spot for the Titans was not.
Tannehill was not.
Henry was Corrie David, the guy you selected number five overall, whose everyone's riding up, including the Titan.
He goes eight catches on his what are seven catches on his eight targets.
4 average yards per So I mean, you're feeling pretty good about what Corey Davis is doing, despite the fact that even a J.
Brown wasn't even that involved.
So if you got Corey Davis on one side A.
Brown building off his big year last year, pretty formidable duo at the receiver position and I only think that's gonna help Tannehill moving forward and help the play action game a little bit more because you know they always have to prepare for the run when you're playing the tight right, I really do think that Humphreys is a name that we need to be keeping an eye on two.
He looks really elusive.
Um, you know, I just think that he's a big fan.
You know, Tannehill's a big fan of him because he's just perfect for his game.
Little, little, tiny slot receiver.
Really reliable hands.
And I think John who Smith is a guy that I'm really impressed with, really like John who? Smith love what he's able to provide to this offense, to know that Delaney Walker faded off into the sunset and someone came in and just fits so seamlessly we didn't even remember.
You know, it's almost like we didn't even notice that Delaney Walker is gone now they've just fit so well.
It's It's been really, really cool to see Oh, yeah, I mean, I think that he was brought in to Dio when he was when he was drafted was fill that void when the time was right.
And unfortunately for Delaney Walker, that time came a little bit earlier than you had hoped for.
But Johnny Smith touchdown last night.
I mean, he looks like a force after the catch, and that's gonna be That's a pretty dangerous receiving corn.
I think that's the biggest thing from the type we know they had a good defense.
We know they had a good running back in the past again, get involved and make this seem dangerous.
So is if you're in fantasy right now, are you freaking out If you're in a J.
Brown owner or you prioritizing Corey Davis on a waiver wire pickup like, what do you make of this? Because, you know, this is Derek Henry's offense, and you know that eso what do you make of this for a week by week basis like, Are we gonna overreact here? Is this gonna be something where? Don't worry, don't freak out.
Brown did last year.
I'm curious to what you make of the receiving corps.
It's pretty weird because I'm one of those people who's not super high on a J.
Brown just in terms of fantasy.
Like I think he's a great receiver, and I think he's gonna be a great receiver for a long time for the Titans.
But I've never been really crazy about him, just from a fantasy standpoint.
I don't know if it's because he had a lot of yards on not that many catches last year or, you know, just because it was one year and now defense have a chance to prepare for him.
I'm not really sure.
I think I'm not freaking out. If I'm in a J.
Brown fan, I think more so.
The priority would be let me go get Corey Davis and at least see what he could do the rest of the year.
We've seen Cory Davis have some good games in the past, you know, most noticeably the one against the Patriots in the playoffs when he still had Mario tha s Oh, I'm probably prioritizing him as a waiver pick up, at least putting him on my bench and seeing what you can do.
But you know, again, Week one, we saw Sammy Watkins dropped three touchdowns last year in Week one, and then he pretty much faded the rest of the year.
So I feel like he's the best.
The best week, one receiver of all time.
To be honest, I think every year anyone on just balls on week one Yeah, and I think Thio I wouldn't prioritizing, adding the Humphreys pick up.
But I'm definitely keeping my eye on.
I'm like you said, but someone that they paid money last year and I think people were higher on him the year prior because they gave him, you know, the financial aspect of for him, you know, they they paid him.
So, you know, I'm keeping an eye on Adam Humphreys. Corey Davis.
Yeah, I'm definitely going to pick him up.
I don't know if I'm prioritizing and maybe over someone like I mean, let me ask you this.
Robby Anderson or Corey Davis off the waiver wire.
I'll probably go Robby Anderson myself just because I'm or intrigued with the Panthers pass heavy offense.
Is not going to get his carries.
But you know what CMC brings.
He's even more elusive as a receiver at times.
So I think, you know, the Brady offense is just beautiful.
It's just absolutely beautiful.
And Robby Anderson finally looks like he has a place that he feels he belongs with.
That being said, Don't think Robby Anderson is going to do that every week.
He's been that guy, though, like he's gonna go out there and rip off a 60 yard reception for a touchdown because he's a burner or he comes up the next game and he gets to receptions for 15 yards on a couple slant routes That could have went all the way.
But didn't you know? And I think that's what you're gonna get, especially with the offense, like the Cowboys.
You know, so many weapons that you could potentially break out on any week.
It's tough to predict, you know, with the Panthers, Caesar solid guy. I think D. J.
He had, like 1200 yards and like four or five touchdowns last year with Kyla Allen as his quarterback, So D.
J. Moore is just straight money.
They even used them a little bit in the rushing game last time, last game, and you see him, they try to get him targets You got, Anderson.
You have a lot of options here.
So I definitely think that Robby Anderson is not a guy you pick up right now to be like, Oh, I found my new flex guy, but like, he's gonna be a solid bye week filler and a guy to keep an eye on because I don't see I mean, D J Moore and start Samuel their speed guys, too.
They could go running off and go deep, but they also do work on the sidelines that you work in the middle of the field.
They're super good jet sweeps, misdirection so fast and so good with their route running, you don't see them just take a straight streak and put their foot in the ground and go very often.
And I think that that's Robbie Anderson's DNA.
Like that's what he's bred to do is run straight and outrun the other guy.
And that ball is gonna be up there in the air.
Go get it, big guy.
You know what I mean.
I like Robby Anderson upside Northern Corey Davis because I don't like the Titans passing game week in and week out.
And when is Corrie? When is Corrie Davis been a guy that you wanted on your team? And I know now he breaks out for this one week, but I just feel like a J.
Brown is the Alfa here, and Adam Humphreys fits his style of game, and so does John. Who Smith.
So the only guy that doesn't is Corey Davis.
I think he's just benefiting from attention that the secondary is putting on other guys.
But to say like that's the focal point of their offense or he's gonna have a role every week.
I think is a lie.
You know, I don't think he's gonna have a role every week.
He's totally gonna have a Cory this week in the next week or two, and I'll be like a catch or two, and you're like, Oh, that's why we don't like Corey Davis or whatever.
Brown is the real deal.
A J Browns and athletic specimen like this guy is him and D.
Metcalf, who were teammates, are both just juggernauts.
Just absolutely insane.
You're going? They're going to get him going.
You know, they're definitely gonna get embarrassed.
Okay, here's my second question to you as we kind of transition briefly to the Titans defense.
You gonna eat a punch from Marshawn Evans? **** No, Dude, you serious? Like I care about my mental with the helmet on.
You got the helmet? Yeah, probably probably E um, I still get a concussion.
I don't know, but the guys e I mean restaurant.
Evans is also one of the leaders of this defense.
So you were kind of disappointed to see him throw out that kind of emotional outlet? You know, outburst on the first game like you're like, Come on, bro.
But still, football football is a passionate sport, and you do like to see a guy with passion and throws a punch.
He's gonna learn this lesson, but, um, they held it down without him.
If their defense really started to struggle when he left, I really think he would have let his team down.
With that being said, the Titans defense, it's the next man up mentality.
They played really, really well, um Jadeveon Clowney.
Didn't he get a saca's Well, so welcome to the Titans.
E mean, Yeah, they even have, you know, I know he's not as big of a pickup because he fell off a little bit over the past few years, but they have big deeply yet.
So Vic Beasley returns to any type of form the year where he led the league in *** him on one side, clowning on the other.
A great defensive coach like Vrabel is just a passionate, hard nosed guy, and he's gonna bring the most out of young guys especially.
But when veterans come to him, I think that's when they have their biggest dog ears.
They're gonna really, really go out there and ball.
And it's because of the scheme because of the way that he coaches and they're always gonna be this.
They they're the epitome of old school football.
There isn't a lot of teams out there that will tell you we're gonna play great defense, and we're gonna hand the ball to our running back and the same running back 30 times a game.
****ing stop us like, and I'm gonna put it on my mask, give the ball to Derrick Henry, and you still won't stop me and you see me coming like first off Derrick Henry E.
I want to shout out him as a man really quick.
You saw him pull up to off the plane.
And how big is Derrick Henry? You know, toe, have a suit with every name of somebody you know in America that's black that unfortunately rather lost their lives or has been faced with the social injustices that we're having in our country.
He had a name and none of the name is repeated, and it filled his body from neck to ankle.
And that made me so uncomfortable, like not not the gesture, but the fact that there that many names that could fill that massive body without repeating like that ****, man, it is such a terrible time right now and you need showings like like with the MBA or doing the NFL hasn't done it quite as hard, but they're still stepping up and, you know, you see commercials and you see certain things and you know, they're not finding guys in the same kind of realm, So it's just so ****ing sad.
But I want to shout out Derrick Henry for just taking another stand and just using his platform for good, which I love seeing these athletes do and prioritizing what's really important in this country.
And then you suit up and you go play sports.
But you got all cameras on you before you got all cameras during you call cameras after.
I love that they're taking their time before and after to focus on things other than football.
And then when they suit up, they go out there, they play hard.
They still have gestures all around the field, the back of their helmet and stuff.
But, you know, just to see these guys taking their own personal stands and using their own personal agenda and their own personal platforms, it's very inspiring.
And I think the country just needs to continue to wake up especially half of NFL fans like the people that booed during the moment of unity on the first game.
Like Go **** yourself, bro.
Like go **** yourself.
I got nothing else to say, but just like seriously, stop watching football.
You don't deserve toe take in the pleasant things of life because you don't see life acceptably, and I think now we need to all continue to band together.
I know I hate hate getting off the sports topic, but this is important ****, you know? And I think you're seeing seeing that, you know, a lot of players.
A lot of different members of the media became clear.
It's not about the flag.
It's not about the fact that your grandfathers served in the war and you feel disrespected.
It's the fact that you're a racist piece of **** and you just don't want to see other people thriving or equality and stuff.
So, you know, if you're watching and you're a racist piece of ****, reevaluate yourself how you go about sports.
If you're not a fan of unwrapped sports because I'm calling you out like this, we don't want you as a fan.
Anyways, equality is everything.
All these sports are going to continue to put a focus on it.
You better live with it because until there's positive change, this will be on the forefront.
So, seeing things like that, certain Chiefs fans, you're not gonna label the whole fan base.
But certain Chiefs fans on that were very disappointing.
And, uh, you know, that was just one thing that you saw publicly Imagine what you don't see publicly.
So, um, band together America continue toe fight for what's right.
I love watching sports, but I like watching stands for what's important in life.
Shout out Derrick Henry and everyone else.
That's really put this on the forefront.
100% and not, you know, not toe.
Continue that conversation.
Obviously, this is a a stream related to the Monday night football game.
So I just want to say, you know what? People out there, I think they don't realize what what they get.
I mean, I think they look at a lot of games, sometimes their own entertainment or their our own pleasure, and you have to understand, like that can all be taken away.
That's kind of the whole point of the stand, like I was kind of Yeah, like that.
I mean, I was Honestly, this is a kind of weird, and I think a lot of people are probably thinking this, but like I was kind of hoping they did process that first game.
I mean, that's a huge stand to take and give you, like kind of the perspective of like, I'm cool and I'll be taken away thes air people that when the MBA made that standard protests of those games I feel great about Yeah, I mean, these air thes air people to these people that have faced a lot of social injustice throughout their lives.
And so, you know, now you want them for their own entertainment purposes.
But if they're just a normal person, then they could just be traded.
However you want them, however you want them or dislike them.
I mean, it just that's not how it's gonna work.
So e think, you know, great gesture by Derrick Henry.
Continue Thio kind of keep that in the forefront.
Keep that at the top of the inbox and just, you know, continue toe make people understand.
Like, this is this is what's coming.
It's not just something that we're talking about.
It's gonna fall off this.
This is a conversation we're going to try to continue tohave and, you know, for us, it's just being in support, understanding that we don't understand, but being supported that so, um you know, great gesture by Derrick Henry, and it's just really does make you a little bit sick to think that none of those things were even repeated.
I think that's the part that really caught me the most e mean the fact that none of those things were repeated, it was just really hi opening and sickening.
So, you know, hats off there, Henry? Absolutely.
No, I think we We went about that really well and again shout out to everyone that is going about things positively in America right now and outside of America and really just putting the, you know, positive change forward doing what you can every single day, trying to be a great person and accepting and, you know, trying to show equality all the way around it.
We're gonna get there, you know, as people were going to get there as a society.
But it's going to take the good ones here for you to continue to push like we have a platform here.
Why wouldn't we use it a little bit right now to talk about what's important, just like Derrick Henry did.
And maybe we're not as big as other people and stuff like that.
But if everyone's doing it and everyone, it's the norm, it is just how you see life.
That's when change comes.
So stay on it and stay true to be in just a good person for Riel.
Shout out to all the major sports right now for whatever gestures they have made. It's still not enough.
You know, we still need to continue to push, but shout out to sports for for realizing sports is second, you know, and I think that's where it's important.
Eso Let's get back to a little of football.
I think that was a really needed little break right there.
I'm glad we covered that very quickly.
You know about the Bronco is very quickly, and we talked a lot about the Titans.
The Broncos led by Drew Lock, who's got a big personality.
The guy you know, Rap Jeezy on the sideline.
You know everyone fall in love with him, especially Alex Valadez, who is just the biggest Drew lock.
Then I know Kevin and our networks a massive drew lock.
Then we got our Drew lock lovers.
We have Cory, who absolutely hates him.
If you watch the NFL shows or the bets shows true locks, probably in the episode somewhere You know, they're probably *****ing about There's Somewhere or Alex defending and whatever it may be.
But let's talk about his performance 1st.
I'm impressed with that.
I like the completion percentage for a second year player.
First year, starting the first game of the season, 216 yards.
I will take it 6.
5 yards a carry.
Needs improvement for the kind of quarterback that he is. He's not Tannehill.
He is a guy that can take chances and really, really use his weapons.
That needs to go up a bit, but it's still acceptable.
One touchdown, zero interceptions.
You'll take the touchdown.
No mistake's 95 quarterback rating.
That's an acceptable game.
It's not a game that he went out there in one.
He didn't go and put them over the top.
They didn't take advantage of the Titans missing all those field goals and having Russia, China or having a, you know, Evans get ejected.
There's a lot of things they could have taken advantage of, and they didn't.
But they also didn't really fumble this game away.
They weren't in the lead on Ben threw an interception or ah fumble or anything like that, like they played their good game.
It just they got outplayed by the Titans, and that was with the Titans also having a lot of miscues.
But Melvin Gordon ended up being the lead back in this game because Phillip Lindsay left with an injury at some point.
So let's talk about that running game a little bit.
We'll move on to the receiving and a little bit.
Let's start running first.
Melvin Gordon, 15 carries, 78 yards, 5.
2 yards a carry and a touchdown.
Seven carries, 24 yards, 34 yards a carry.
Um, you know, you're always gonna try and get him involved in the past game as well.
Drew lock three carries, five yards, really didn't do anything.
And then Royce Freeman, who I feel so bad for for even being on the team.
Still one carry zero yards like they don't have any confidence in him.
They gave him the carry just because they felt bad for him.
But all right, let's talk.
Melvin Gordon, 15 carries, 5.
2 yards a carry and a touchdown in his debut for Denver.
Give me your thoughts on Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay after that.
Okay, sure. Yeah.
So but Melvin Gordon, you know, obviously it wasn't a great star for him.
I think the biggest thing that you saw with the Broncos is, uh, they didn't turn the ball over, but at one time on the fumble, but they kept dropping the ball.
The ball was always on the ground, I think Drew Lock fumbled it away a couple times when they recovered it.
Melvin Gordon had the early fumble, and I was actually saying, like, the worst decision Melvin Gordon could have made him holding out and then coming back.
It's just been downhill from there, but he actually made a lot of strive throughout the game.
Like we saw a lot of good run, uh, from Melvin Gordon.
You know, with the 25 yard run there later in the second half, we obviously saw the touchdown run there, so I think there was a lot of bright spots from Melvin Gordon once he was comfortable and actually got handed the Rock a little bit more on the Broncos offensive line is not the best, either.
Like they're not bad medals here.
I'm definitely pleased with what Melvin Gordon was able to provide, and I think he's someone that could be effective in the passing game as well.
Now, on the other hand, I think for at least for my fantasy perspective, I mean, I think it was surprising to see a little bit more Philip, maybe not surprising that the Broncos organization and the Broncos fans, But I think from me personally, just not paying attention to the Denver team too much.
I was a little surprised with Phillip Lindsay paying out on the field, Ah lot, but I kind of like it.
I know he got hurt.
He he's facing a little bit of the turf toe, but him and Gordon the backfield together, I think, compose a lot of threats.
So I think that was really good that you have to like tomorrow and Ingram from the New Orleans.
It's the best you're going to get.
Well, I think I was impressed by the Denver offensive line because that's not, you know, a super great offensive line.
But they opened up holes against a really good defense, really good front seven throughout the game and so I think Lindsay got a couple good runs, obviously, before the injury.
Gordon has some great runs that set up some chances that they didn't really capitalize on.
But I think you know you're going back to practice whenever that, whether it's today or tomorrow, and you're making sure that you're running drills toe, make sure that you guys can hold onto the ball.
Security, security drills there because I put one on the ground lock, put a couple on the ground.
Judy put one on the ground.
I mean, the whole offense, they're so I mean just from running back to respective, I like what I have.
You know, Roy screaming got the one catch that set him up.
The Gordon touchdown.
Uh, you know, like I said, I like you said, I feel kind of bad for him that he only got to play because Lindsay was hurt.
But I think there's a little bit of concern of Lindsay is hurt because you know what he's been able to do with the little opportunity that he's gotten.
I don't think I wanna solely rely on Melvin Gordon, even though he's been ableto to do it in the past.
I just don't think.
I don't think we've seen that same guy before.
He asked for a new contract.
Um, you know, since he's come back.
So e agree, It really e messed up everything for him.
Yeah, So not being said that along with the answer.
So I'm impressed with what the Broncos have in their backfield on what they were able to accomplish.
Gets a good defense.
Um, but again, it's just one week.
It's really hard, but really grasp what they could do. Moving forward.
I was really impressed with what they were able to do, you know, in the receiving game.
Drew lock, obviously having a solid game, what we were looking for, mainly no fan.
I think that tight end, we were looking for that connection.
This is the two guys that we were trying to see.
What's the role in the offense this year? Especially Judy, who we haven't seen in a Broncos jersey.
Of course, let's talk about their statistics very quickly.
We had no offend with the reception's leader.
Five receptions, 81 yards, 16.
2 yards a catch and a touched out like Z.
I'll take that 11 out of 10 times for a tight end that is brilliant on six targets to you.
Missed one catch and just It was weird that they just went away from him, though.
I mean, he was so great in the first half.
And then where was no A fan? The second half was surprised by that, and you got to give credit to the Titans defense.
Like you said, I think they made the adjustments and stuff like that.
But Jerry Judy led the team in targets.
That's something you've got to feel really good about.
If you're a dynasty owner of Jerry, Judy or just a fan of Jerry Judy, eight targets in his first game.
I love seeing that you love seeing the confidence from, um, Drew lock.
Obviously, court and sudden wasn't a factor in this game, so you've got to remember that moving forward.
But what's the rookies problem? Usually, a rookie's problem is getting that we're poor down with your team and really getting your feet wet.
And I think the first week where you're really the number one wide receiver besides your tight end, that's the best way to get the jitters out.
Get the connection with drew lock and really show the Broncos organization that they can trust him.
You know, eight receptions or eight targets on four catches.
Obviously, they didn't get it down perfectly.
You got a 50% target.
Um, you know where 50% times he's catching his targets, But 14 yards of reception didn't score.
Ian, that nice 25 yard reception.
I was really happy with what I saw with Jerry.
Judy, the first reception that he made it was pretty much just 10 yards and 10 yards straight.
Turned around really quickly.
He was just running so, so excited that he almost tripped up over himself.
That's how fast he is.
Like it was absurd to see his foot speed and what he was able to do.
And there isn't a lot of great receiving talent on the Denver Broncos.
So it's really up in the air for who could be the number one guy like when you shed Emmanuel Sanders and all your old talent.
You know, Thomas, everyone that you used to have back in the day, you're starting new Courtland Sutton on Lee was your number one because you didn't have anyone else to be your number one, he seized the opportunity.
He didn't draft him to be your number one wide receiver, Jerry Judy, where he drafted him.
You could make the argument that they drafted him to be their number one wide receiver.
What does he hold? The touchdowns and reception records? Alabama.
Or at least top three or so? Yeah, I think maybe one more record to yields, like three or four receiving records.
You Video? Yeah, the video's at home for the footwork was I was just about to say he's just chugging in circles and he's going back and forth and you're just like, Oh, my God, man.
It's probably like a 10 ft hole in his ground to China, just from him, going back and forth and just digging into the ****ing ground.
I'm sitting there looking.
I'm so impressed with the kind of work that he puts in, of course, outside of football and what he was able to do to prepare himself for his rookie season because with no off season, I was really impressed to see how all the rookie receivers really did.
And you noticed Pittman Jefferson.
Some of these guys didn't get, you know, maybe they got two catches each.
Rigor got rigor.
Got that one catch for that deep.
So it wasn't like they were super involved.
But to see them getting their feet wet and getting that confidence that first catch down, that's really important.
But Henry rugs, even though he left with an injury, he seemed to be very involved in the offense, which I expected with Tyrell Williams going out for the year.
And I was impressed with that.
Said he was much more involved in the Hunter Renfroe, you know, and I think that a lot of these rookies came out hot CD Lamb looked really good on the Cowboys.
Ah, lot of these guys look very solid.
Jerry, Judy, maybe the top of the pack right now.
He he He looked really solid and has a really good opportunity to build that report with Locke, who's just looking for guys to trust right now and and a coordinator that is looking for guys to trust right now and to blow this up.
And if you got Lindsey out for any extended period of time, that receiving game from the backfield takes a big hit you're gonna have to rely on your receivers with Mawr of ah, Melvin Gordon, straight up the middle kind of attack.
You know, maybe Royce Freeman here or there, and you're gonna have to get more creative if I'm losing Phillip.
Lindsay, I'm running jet sweeps on 30% of my plays.
I'm putting Jerry, Judy and in motion and trying to potentially get him the ball on a handoff.
You gotta get creative and you got to do a better job of clock management.
If you're the Denver Broncos, I want to talk about that for the end of the game.
You know, under a minute you have the ball, you have three timeouts.
You know, you you don't use the time outs correctly.
You only use one for the whole drive.
And you're a coach.
Your vic Fangio, who's an experienced coach.
Even though you don't know **** about offense, you're an experienced coach that should have been around the game long enough to know how to handle your time outs.
When you have a quarterback that's not young or sorry, that's not old.
He's not seasoned.
He hasn't been there.
He hasn't done that in the two minute drill against the Titans.
You need to control that.
You need to be Sean McVeigh.
You need to be Mike Vrabel.
You need to be coaches that win from the sideline.
When Mike Vrabel out Bill Belichick, Bill Belichick last year with his coaching, you saw him win that game, You witnessed a coach win the game on the sideline.
That's when you know that you got Jason Garrett clapping for a missed field goal.
Like, you know, you can see when a coach is just maintaining and when a coach is taking that team to the next level with in game adjustments and the skill and the football i Q that they have from years of being around the game.
Vic Fangio did not did not show that whatsoever.
And even if you don't want to use your time management to drill down the field, tell me why you didn't ice the Titans kicker whose went one for four.
That's a good point.
That's a really good point.
You didn't Isom once or twice, or, you know, I was sitting there like Give me the stick, Give me the sticks, Give me the sticks.
I'll jump on the team.
I was like, You got a kicker that doesn't know what his name is right now.
He's so nervous that he doesn't right.
If he doesn't make this kick, his career is probably over.
Who's gonna go take a chance on a a Nog who's too old and is coming off the injury problem? In his first game, he missed every field goal.
He could have taken any p a t you isom once, and I think maybe he shanks that That's just me.
That's a really good point.
Yeah, I think, definitely, I think.
But, you know, within the first half to he could have done E.
I guess I didn't have a ton of time, but I think you could have done some things differently throughout the game.
I mean, the extension Big Fangio man, it's hard to say Big Fangio is, you know, obviously a guy who's been focused on the defensive side of the ball for a long time, but you know, I think there's I think the Broncos office still showed a lot of promise.
You know, Jerry Judy, I actually would say TD Land was probably the best rookie receiver over the over week one.
But Jerry Judy did a lot of good things.
I think again the concern is holding onto the ball here.
The fumble, which they picked up.
He had a couple of drops that were kind of kind of weird to see because Judy was so great in college and then the last year of college.
He was kind of deal with that, too.
So I definitely want to shore that up.
And then Courtland, son, you know, that's the guy that's going to come back A J Hammer someone they draft in the second round two.
So there's a lot of pieces still coming back, you know, despite the injuries they're facing, you know, with Z and those two guys.
So e like you bringing up handler.
Ah, lot, that's that's a guy is very low key.
Had a pretty great college career.
Very, very nifty.
Guess I love the way that he plays very tight route running very speedy.
I love the different receivers that have on this team.
Courtland Sutton is the definition of a possession receiver.
Jerry can kind of do it all, and you have KJ handler who can just eat out of the slot and can really do it all, too.
But you put him in the slot when he gets to the NFL.
That's where he's gonna make his money.
And I think that if they can really hit on all three of those, which those three amazing young receivers and no a fan and you got guys like, you know, Tim, Patrick and Hamilton, Sean Hamilton and stuff like that, guys that can come in here and still be your three receiver if you really need him to be for the year.
But I think this is more than just what the Broncos going to do this year.
We're looking at 2021 2022.
This is when things they're gonna get right and what I mean, what's the goal? You're supposed to win a Super Bowl nowadays on a rookie contract for a quarterback.
That's what you're supposed to do.
And if you don't do it, it's not impossible.
You could do it elsewhere, for sure.
But you know, and that it wasn't a thing a decade ago or two decades, really.
It really started probably about a decade ago, where you're looking to draft your guy and that's your time to go.
Invest your money everywhere else except for your quarterback, which usually takes up a large chunk of your salary.
But then it comes to a point where you got to pay the man, you know, and then you gotta find other ways to win.
But I think that's the easiest way to win nowadays.
Hit right, find the right quarterback for your system and you just spend that money elsewhere and bring in defenders and bring in different guys that are gonna help win.
But you know, it's not that one year project, and this is your two for luck, But you have another couple of years.
You know, it's a really be looking this before you have to start thinking we got to start paying Drew lock.
You know, what do we do? It's a young team.
I mean, I don't know.
I think they announced on the broadcast last night, but I don't so I don't remember if it was the offense or the whole team, but they're the youngest.
I think it was the whole team.
They're the youngest team, just in terms of average age of 25.
So, like you said there for the future, they might run into some issues like the Seahawks did.
Just in terms of how do we pay and how much do we? How much do we pay them down the road? But, I mean, it's a team like next year, maybe the year after, where they're really good.
I mean, because they've got everyone in place.
If they hit on all these guys, you know, we're still waiting to see.
So there's a lot of things that I think last night we saw were very promising and I think there's a lot of things that we still need to wait and see it.
This is a really hit on these pics and so unfortunately we didn't get to see guys like Sudden and Hammer standing with injury.
I feel like Hammer has got the hamstring, which seems to be the case around the league.
Everyone just got hit by the hand hamstring above there, but there's a lot of good things.
I think the good thing for the Broncos.
Despite not having bomb Miller on defense, they hold the hat on the defensive side of the ball.
They still have a really good defense set up over there.
Dio big fans, you know, although I say doesn't really know **** about offense.
He's one of the more accomplished defensive coordinators in the league over the last 20 years, so he he knows his defense.
I'm pretty confident, and that's without Von Miller, like you said, which is really impressive, and I think he's what is he doing professional gaming right now for I think it's Phase Atlanta or something like that. Miller.
Oh, really? That's e kicking his feet up. E.
I feel like everyone is right.
Isn't it like juju Ben Simmons? Now you got Von Miller all part of that phase.
I'm not a big game myself, but I like the vamp in in the gaming world.
I think it's pretty good. E.
A lot of these athletes were just so influential, you know, when they were playing fortnight, I thought it was like the nerdiest thing of all time.
I was like, That's so whack like, But then you see him playing the sports that they love or football players playing two K or this Now you're like, all right, like I e love that.
But I don't know.
Can't get around fortnight. I'll never get on board with that.
I'm not a big e.
You know, our people still play for thing for sure, but yeah, so we'll get off that game.
Really, All we have for you guys today.
It has just been an awesome run that we had today.
Me and Anthony talking about Monday Night Football about hour and 20 minutes.
Very good time here.
We appreciate you guys joining us, breaking down both amazing matchups on this last Monday.
I have a lot to feel great about for the rest of the season.
I think the NFL is doing a great job.
Like I said, with social reform but also doing a good job keeping Cove it intact Right now, we haven't seen much because they haven't really done the whole flights to the next state.
And then that that's what we're really going to see if we're going to see numbers because it's all fun and games until a team has to quarantine for two weeks and on the schedule gets messed up.
