It's always stuck on that one.
And here we are back from earlier this morning when we went over the games and we gave our picks and our early thoughts going into that first Sunday of the NFL.
So far, so good for some.
I want a couple of dollars on draftkings.
I'm I'm cool with some of the bets and how things went down.
How are you fellas doing on this first Sunday night of the football season? I'll throw it to you first, Joe.
I'm pretty good.
I feel like I'm feeling pretty **** good.
I mean, you know, after winning 38 to 6, you can't be too upset about much.
Um, but yeah, I mean, obviously, you know, Ravens came out as expected and looked pretty good, Pretty solid.
Um, and we do look in position to be competing for the FC as expected, So Yeah, I'm excited, man.
Got a division win.
That's always very sweet.
And, of course, starting off the season wanna know is even sweeter.
So yeah, the Cleveland Browns.
I don't know if that hype train is left the station or if e.
I almost felt bad for them.
I almost feel bad for them.
But then I started getting comments from Browns fans and said, Well, we put up 40 points on you last year.
Don't forget about that, so I don't feel bad anymore.
What about you, Ray? How are you feeling after the debut of Cam Newton? Super Camp can listen anytime the Patriots could go.
Want to know And the Tom Pub.
A grand veneers could go.
Oh, and one, I am just a happy fella and everybody who's getting excited about Brady's numbers.
Don't let some garbage time stop patting and touchdowns when it don't matter.
He threw two interceptions and one of his throws was bad.
Him and Breeze look like old men.
Listen, first half was exactly the way I thought it was gonna be for the Patriots played very, very conservative.
I think he threw, I think, eight passes in the first half of the game. A lot of runs.
They go into the half up.
73 He comes out in the second half, slinging the football five throws to Julian Edelman.
It's you throws If you didn't watch the game, that score of 21 to 11 was really deceiving Nikkila.
Harry fumbled the ball on the goal line, which bounced out for a touchback.
Nick full can't kick a ball from 45 yards.
The Patriots have a bad kicking thing, but I saw a lot of good things from the Patriots today, considering this is the first game that they played on, I think Tony Romo said, it is, well, this teams on Lee going to get better both offensively and defensively.
Um, so I was really happy what I saw today, and I'm not saying that.
Let's put it this way.
When I told Joe the other day that I had no issues putting 500 bucks on 10 wins or Maurin 1000 bucks in the wind more than eight games, I'd still be feeling just fine with that $1500 on the table because the offense looked really good and it's not even good yet.
Cam's looking good man, for I didn't get to see a lot of the game, but the few things that I did see Cam was putting the team on his back like super cam like you expected, so I mean, I hate that I love Cam Newton so much because I hate the Patriots, so But that's alright.
I love Lamar Jackson and hate the Ravens.
We've been mutual love, hate e.
I wanna know what Lawrence feels about today.
Let's let's address the elephant in the room.
How in the world how in the world does Matt Stafford lose that big league? Oh, no, no, no.
That's not what we're talking about right now. I got a lot.
I'll spend our entire pregame talking about the bloody lines, so I went back to re watch, like the condensed version. Okay.
So, yeah, I'm upset.
I'm upset like a mug.
And I ain't upset with the team.
I'm okay with River throwing a couple interceptions early.
He just came with the team, like a month or a month ago.
I understand there's gonna be situations, but come on.
Coaching was awful in that game. On the cold side.
How do you have less than half the runs as compared to pass attempts when you have that kind of offensive line and those running back I mean, for riel, you had, like, 22 runs and 45 passes, and the game was never Mawr than like three or four.
It became a four point lead, like, uh, late in the fourth quarter, right? So I mean, come on.
Uh, and then the defense that the Colts defense looked bad against the run.
But again, I can actually lean that upto, you know, live hitting early on and, you know, do the pre season.
I think the courts will be okay.
I think they just need a little bit of time to kind of get in sync with each other, get into a live game rhythm.
But I said, Watch out for the Jags Passing attack right by the defense was surprising.
Their defense really stepped up in some places.
C. J. Henderson's demand.
I'll tell you what, he locked down T.
Y Hilton quite a bit quite and t y was healthy and doing some good stuff.
But, um, the Jags surprising.
It's that it's that mustache, man, I'm telling you, the power of the stash respect the stash.
I mean, you think the home field advantage help them at all.
You think them having just under 17,000 people at the game helped at all.
No, I wouldn't even say the rain helped him all that much.
It should have all fed into the Colts favor.
And yet they just Marlon Mack got hurt.
He was running like six yards of Kerry got hurt.
And then all of a sudden, we were like using our scatback as our man, a czar Main running back.
Now he minds is running the football and Jonathan Taylor.
He ended up getting fed late in certain situations of like, you know, need a yard or two here or there and pick up a yard or two and that was it.
He wasn't explosive, except for that one pass play.
He had one passed.
It was, uh, running back screen that he broke off for like, 30 yards got all the way down to the goal line.
And after that, he, like, disappeared.
It's all right, man.
It's a long season is a week, one for everybody.
Ah, lot of teams disappointed.
Kind of fell flat on their faces today.
Look, you know, you mentioned the lions.
The lions had that win at home in the books.
The whole city of Chicago was calling for mid Stravinsky's job.
They wanted Nick Foles in that game, and he comes back to win it for him.
A couple other quarterbacks that just look the part look like MVPs, which they are, you know, for sure trying to be this year.
Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, those guys going out there and doing what they're supposed to do and what you expect them to do.
I can't wait to go back and watch those two games.
Like what Russell Wilson had like an 88% completion today.
It was impressive drop.
It was impressive.
Without a couple of dropped balls, he would have been even better.
He he was masterful.
Today, I can't wait.
I wanna watch both those games.
They looks like they both put on performances.
What about that Raiders game? I told you guys, Josh Jacobs give the ball that Josh Jacobs in his second year.
The Raiders gonna figure out a win.
They looked ah, lot better.
I mean, only one by four points.
I know it's the Panthers, but their team that offensive line looks better.
I mean, it sucks to see Henry rugs junior go down, but I think they got some potential this year, too.
Yeah, that was a little bit of a shootout there in Carolina.
Rugs was really lighten it up early before he went down.
Yeah, he had, like, a couple catches.
He was moving and I don't know. I got him in fantasy.
I saw him go down and I immediately was like, Oh, no, but we got about 10 minutes, 10 15 minutes here to talk about the game of the night, and I will lead the way talking about this game.
Your Dallas Cowboys, my Dallas Cowboys.
America's Dallas Cowboys.
Or more like America's team toe laugh at the richest team in the NFL, the $5.
7 billion Jerry Jones is face off in the brand new Sofa stadium tonight against the Los Angeles Rams, formerly of ST Louis.
I don't know exactly what to expect from this game.
It opened up minus three Dallas.
That spread is now gone, even to pick him.
I don't know what people are thinking or seeing.
I think it's a matter of the jerseys.
You get closer to game time, you see the jerseys.
I will tell you this.
I am a white jersey guy.
Whenever the Cowboys wear the blue shirts, we either struggle or lose.
We lost the Jets in those blue shirts last year.
We lost to the Bears in those blue shirts last year.
We have the blue shirts on right now, going to face off against a team with brand new uniforms.
The Los Angeles Rams got those funky power Ranger type uniforms.
I don't know what to even call him Bright Blue White.
If the Cowboys lose this game, it's because off the uniforms, if the Cowboys win this game, it's because of Dak Prescott.
I'm gonna go out there and put it on the line.
Dak Prescott has all the weapons in the world.
This guy's just got to distribute the pill, make the right decisions, play smart and the rest will easily happen for him.
What do you guys thinking about? Just the Dallas Cowboys offense being stacked from Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, CD Lamb, Zq, Elliott, Dak Prescott What do you guys thinking about offensively? The Dallas Cowboys outlook going into this game against the ramp? Listen, eso Joe and I have a separate podcast that we do on Wednesdays, and we gave our picks and I went into that picking the Dallas Cowboys toe win the game, and I somehow in the midst of it, talk to myself out of it.
You convince yourself I did.
I convinced myself not to take the Cowboys, and I'm going with the Rams.
Um, Joe kind of convinced me on the offense of the Rams a little bit.
Um, I think that we're going to see a Mari.
Cooper struggled the way he struggled against Stefan Gilmore last year when they played the Patriots.
When he's got to go up against Jalen Ramsey.
Now, that leaves Gallop.
That leaves, uM, CD, CD CD, open CDs, a rookie.
Let's see how he performs on his first night, and I'm not saying he can't.
You know, a part of me still wants to pick the Cowboys.
A part of me doesn't know how I talked myself into taking the Rams over the Cowboys.
Um, what I am really excited about is to see what they could do with Mike McCarthy.
And I'll tell you what, I think I'm disrespecting the Cowboys a little bit because I can't get the Jason Garrett Cowboys out of my head, and I have talked about it with these boys a lot.
I'm really stuck in the Jason Garrett cowboy era, and I keep telling myself they have Mike McCarthy.
It's a different coach.
It's a guy who knows how to coach offense.
He's a Super Bowl winner.
Um, I don't know why I keep doubting the Cowboys.
I guess it's just a team that when I take them, they lose.
You know what I mean? They're a team that has disappointed me time and time out.
So maybe I need to see some consistency, Beef and, you know, see this? A bit of that McCarthy magic before I really get on board that train.
And look, they have the best running back in the history of football.
Okay, It's, uh I'm an OS.
Zeke, is my man.
So I have a soft spot for the Cowboys because, Zeke, I just need to see some consistency out of that team.
You said it, man. You said disappointment.
Big D stands for big disappointment.
You've seen them disappoint time and time again, whether you bet on them whether you're me rooting for him and they just disappoint, they've got all the hype, all the players all the pics, and they can't get it done.
Uh, I don't know.
Anyone else is thinking about the Dallas Cowboys.
Your eso Are you picking the Rams? Are you switching the pick to say that you're going with the Cowboys? And I think I got to stick with the Rams because I already picked them.
I don't wanna make I don't want to make a switcheroo, take integrity taking, But I don't I don't feel great about it.
If that makes sense to everybody, I don't feel great about it, even even.
Yeah, it's kind of one of those games that I could go either way on.
But I also have the Rams, by the way.
So I got I got the Cowboys, and I'll tell you what.
Even if this was last year, I'd still be picking the Cowboys because last year the Cowboys would win against easy teams in lose against the tough teams.
And this year, I don't see the Rams going to the playoffs, so it should be a win for the Cowboys.
You talked about all the weapons.
Sure, a Rams have got Aaron Donald, he's gonna he's gonna get double team like, over and over and over and over and over.
And then they got Jalen Ramsey.
Okay, so he's gonna lock down one receiver.
Well, Dallas has got, like, 15 others, so they could throw, too.
So, uh, I just I don't see it.
I don't see how the Rams they got an offense, but I think the cowboys have got enough defense in order to hold them off a little bit.
I just I see the cowboys went, and I see him winning by, like, 10 also spread.
I'm I'm gonna put in.
I have a couple of bets going, but I'm gonna put an alternate spread bet on the Cowboys toe win by more than a touchdown, because it's possible, and it will pay more.
And I'm completely biased.
What are you thinking, man? Sure.
So, Yeah, Like I said, I do have the Rams winning this game, but this Cowboys team is interesting, man, because it has the potential to be like one of the best teams in the NFL, not just the NFC, not just the NFC East, because the roster talent that they have is incredible men, especially on offense.
Now defense for me is a little shaky, especially in the secondary.
Which is partly why I'm picking the Rams.
Because, like I told Ray, I actually am a believer of golf.
I like Jared Goff if he can get a running back to help him alongside because we saw him at his best when we when he had Todd Gurley pounding that ball and hitting play action passes.
If that can happen tonight, I have a lot of faith in Sean McVeigh.
Believe it or not, I actually have more faith in Sean McVeigh than Mike McCarthy right now, just because that's how I see it.
If Mike Mike McCarthy has to be a little more proven to me, we have to see it.
Let him do it with the Cowboys.
Um, but, yeah, I have the Rams.
I think I like Cam Acres.
If he could get started and be that running back for the Rams, watch out.
Watch out, I'm just saying, but the Cowboys could absolutely go out there and put up 40 points because they have the team to do it.
I just don't know if they will, because they are the Cowboys.
Did you just say Mike McCarthy has something to prove.
The Super Bowl champion coach? I'd say so with a winning record.
I mean, he's got more Super Bowls than most coaches.
What? What did he do his last year in Green Bay? Let me ask you that.
What did John Harbaugh do three years ago? You mean like, No, I mean like that.
Well, this was the last time, you know, What did Matt LaFleur do in his final game against the San Francisco 40 Niners last year when the Packers has got the crap kicked out of them and Aaron Rodgers was washed up and done? E mean, look, he's got something to prove or not Sure.
Of course he does.
Think about how he's thinking about his old employer, the Green Bay Packers.
Like watch what I do over here in Dallas.
I've still got it. Bill Belichick.
They might not say it, but he's definitely smiling somewhere because Tom Brady lost today and he won.
He still got something to prove.
Is that what you mean by something to prove? Hold on.
No, no, this is a different thing.
I thought you meant I'm not sold on McCarthy.
Uh, no, not necessarily.
I mean, I'm saying, can he still be at that coaching level? Okay, I take it back.
I thought I thought you were saying that, you know, he has to prove to me that he could be The coach knows.
Like, what else is the guy? Usually when you win a Super Bowl, that's that's enough that you can, coach.
Never mind. We're all on the same page now. We're all the same people.
I guess what you guys are saying, Absolutely, of course, is gonna wanna prove the Packers Aaron Rodgers.
Especially because Aaron Rodgers who pushed him out of town, right? Yeah, and they're trying to push Aaron Rodgers out of town.
Look how that always.
Yeah, and Rogers came out on fire with Devante, and he's like, You're not gonna give me a receiver.
I'm gonna ball out with my only receiver on the team now with.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I said something about Aaron Rodgers coming out on fire.
You did? All right.
So I will bring it home.
We've got Joe picking the Rams Ray picking the Rams, Lawrence picking the Cowboys and I'll give you guys something to watch for the hot boys.
The Hot Boys is what the Dallas Cowboys defensive line calls themselves.
Nobody else ever called them this.
There's no cool way to spin it.
There's no origin story.
One day they made hats and started calling themselves The Hot Boys.
They've been lukewarm at best, but I think this year is the first year we actually do see them get hot.
And when I say get hot, I mean, get to the quarterback a lot hot.
These guys are ready to run.
I want you to look for Tristan Hill tonight.
I want you to look for Aldon Smith.
You guys forgot about Alden Smith tonight, and obviously DeMarcus Lawrence, Tyrone Crawford.
Guys that have been there before the hot boys will get to the pastor Antoine Woods.
There's also a guy back there that you guys forgot about Everson Griffin.
This Cowboys defense of line will also have Randy Gregory.
At some point, the hot boys look out for the hot boys.
They're gonna get sacks.
They're gonna create pressure.
You might see them rough.
Rough up, Jared golf tonight.
And that's what I'm hoping for.
I'm expecting points toe over. Understand it.
I'm taking the over.
I'm expecting points.
I'm expecting a show.
I'm expecting Dallas toe win.
I think Dallas has got to score over 30 to do it.
I'm expecting Dallas toe win.
Something like 35 to 17.
I'm picking the Dallas Cowboys.
The McCarthy era starts off with the wind, and that's what I'm saying.
And that's why I'm sticking to.
And that's all I've got for you guys.
It's a good one.
I've got one comment.
First of all, the hot boys is no worse than the boogieman.
Okay, so what? The book event After you seeing ghosts, That kind of like, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
There was around Halloween.
Yeah, but our our linebackers gave themselves the names too.
It's not like somebody else gave it to them.
It was, I think Kyle Van Noy No, you know, number two is the loss of Michael Bennett going to affect you guys at all.
Especially in the past Rush? No way.
The pickup of Michael Bennett didn't affect us at all.
I don't know why we even picked him up at the time.
That was I mean, that was just a depth play.
And, uh, I don't We don't miss him.
We're not gonna miss him.
We also got Don Terry Po.
I know you guys probably heard more about Gerald McCoy, but Gerald, Gerald McCoy, they knew, had a knish.
You with his squad? They wrote in this contract that if he injured the quad, and of course he did, So you're not gonna see him? He's not with a teammate more.
But look out for Dante, Repo and some of these other guys on the Cowboys D line.
I don't know if you got, like, when I watch football, I watch inside, like out.
As far as like, I I start in the trenches when the ball snap.
And then I started looking out.
I like to see who's really like in there battling, fighting and holding their own.
And I think you'll see a different swag, a different energy from the Cowboys D line tonight.
All right, fellas.
Thanks for joining me for Keith McPherson.
Joe knew Bo Rei Roth.
We are out of here, but we'll be back tomorrow with another recap, I believe hopefully we'll be celebrating a Cowboys win.
Hopefully, your fantasy teams look good.
Hopefully your bets look good.
Hey, you might as well jump on now and try and get this bedding and eight minutes, I'm telling you, take the Cowboys with the alternative.
It's spread for at least three or more.
Thanks for watching. I'm keeping McPherson.
This is SportsCastr NFL, and we are out later.
