10 9876543210 Wow! And we're back.
Ladies and gentlemen of Pats Nation, here we are on this Sunday, September 13th.
It doesn't matter because the Cam Newton era has started in New England.
Ladies and gentlemen, let me ask you, how do we feel about a victory? V Donna, How you feeling about this game, buddy? I thought it was awesome.
I honestly thought the score made it seem closer than it actually was.
I thought it was It seemed like a blowout.
Pretty much to May.
Let me let me tell you what I loved.
But I loved almost everything about this game.
I loved that Cam Newton was hot after the game.
I love that he was going after Miami.
Dolphin players show a little bit of aggression.
Hey, did I loved the conservative first half? I love that.
It's You know what? Let's run the football.
Let's play conservative.
No mistake's give camps.
Come out the first drive of the second half.
Just mother effin slinging that ball all over the field, and we get to celebrate a victory Monday because Cam Newton knows how to run the football.
He knows how to throw the football.
We had a mist ake McKeel.
Harry fumbles the ball.
It goes out for, ah, touchback, which probably would have led to at least three points.
But we're pretty pretty pretty certain it would have been a touchdown eventually.
Um, the offense doesn't flinch.
They march right back down the field.
They put in, put up seven points.
Sony Michelle runs the ball.
Let me just give you the stats here for a second, Okay? The New England Patriots, 357 total yards.
217 rushing yards.
140 passing yards.
Now, we didn't see a passing touchdown today, but Cam Newton goes 15 for 19 155 yards and he gets a quarterback.
He rushes the ball.
He was the Patriots leading rusher, by the way.
15 rushes for 75 yards, 100.
Baby Cam Newton era started and I was excited.
Like what? It just tell me what you thought of that game.
I was This is exactly what I was hoping it would be.
I mean, I had a feeling not to say that like we predicted it, but we thought this is what Cam Newton was gonna look like.
He was gonna come out angry, ready to play with some to prove he was a great throwing.
He looked like vintage Cam Newton from 2015 running the football out there.
I mean, he had 75 rushing yards, two touchdowns running the ball.
I thought he looked great.
I thought the defense looked really well.
I know everyone's gonna say Miami's offense stinks, and that's true.
But, I mean, you have to play the opponent.
I thought the whole team played great.
I really love seeing Chase win a ***** out there all the time.
How about Adrian Phillips, man, who just had a hell of a game? Eight tackles on interception? Just a bunch of interceptions? Yeah.
No, it was just a nab salute.
Five catches Nikkila. Harry five catches.
James White gets three.
Ryan iso makes a catch.
Yeah, that was That was big.
I was like, Who is this man, J.
Four rushes, 38 yards, averaging seven yards per carry.
Like that kid look good.
The Patriots could not have played this game any better than they did.
I mean, they had some on field mistakes, but, I mean, I love the conservative approach.
Josh McDaniels had a hell of a game in the second half with those calls.
Man knew when to run the ball new when an option play.
And we've seen things today that we haven't seen in 20 years in New England.
Um, like, read options in zone options and, um, our pos and just so many different things play action.
Adelman had the one drop look solid after that.
McKeel Harry made a mistake.
Fumbled the football.
That was I was gonna tell you I was pretty proud of Pats Nation today.
I didn't see a whole lot of Tom Brady conversation.
Um, but I saw a lot of hate for Nikkila Harry after that fumble, and I'm like, you know, that could have happened.
Just relax, Okay? That was because if he's 10 yards down the field that rolls out of bounds, his first down Patriots that continues on.
Um, you know, I think it was Jeff Howe who said, and I agree.
It's called the worst rule in football because it's the worst ruling football, right? It really is.
That's like the oldest rule to I don't know why they keep doing that, where it goes out of the end zone, and then it's It's a touchback.
It's one of those rules.
When it happens for your team, it's a great rule.
It happens to the other team.
It's absolute nonsense.
That's very true.
But as soon as that happened, I'm like, Yep, that's gonna be the call.
So we talked about our biggest fear being the middle linebacking position for this team.
Joshua Che is inactive today.
I'm getting you know, I'm like, Oh, my gosh! And, uh what? Hightower What Van noy What? James What? Jamie Collins, who got tossed out of the Detroit game.
I know what he was doing.
I don't I don't know what that Waas the intricacies of this defense and how people could just shift around a different positions like the linebacking corps to me didn't miss a beat today.
No, I didn't think so either.
and I thought Chase window, which looked great.
He had that play.
It might have been the first quarter when they handed it off.
A soon as the guy got the ball, he hit him in the backfield.
Yeah, it's They controlled the run.
Yeah, couple pass interference calls today, and I think every pass interference call was a good call.
Um, on the game sealing interception by J. C. Jackson.
That shot probably should have been another pass interference call.
You know it's preseason, man.
You know, it's it's just preseason.
Here's my thing.
This offense, this defense, it's only going to get better.
Like we saw basically a first riel action game for them.
And I know everybody else is going to get better, too.
But I watched this offense role.
I watch this defense going.
I'm like, Oh my God, we're just We're just touching And Tony Romo said it, and he almost sounded shocked when he said it at the end of the game, he said.
But when they start to figure out Cam Newton and Cam Newton starts to figure out them, this team could be very, very good this year and be I mean? Yeah, this was basically they haven't had a preseason.
So this was the first time really playing together against an actual opponent other than themselves.
And they look great.
What was your okay? Should we talk about the elephant in the room? What's that empty stadium? Oh, yes.
You're kicking with the wind at your back.
They get you to 45 yards, which, by the way, thought was a great call when they just handed the ball off the Birkhead and maybe 51 to 45 I thought excellent.
Call me too, because I think 50 might be long for folks, so we want to get it a short as we can by 45 is obviously long for for I mean, he just pulls out.
Kicking conditions, empty stadium.
Yeah, And you just you pull it right and I tweeted out right after that.
I thought it makes me feel great that he was the more accurate of the two.
He was the more consistent right.
He was the Onley, um, you know, negative thing that came out of the game.
He also had an extra point that just barely made it so He did make me a little bit nervous coming in.
I was a little bit nervous about him as well.
But he was the Onley like un bright spot for the team.
I don't know what they could do.
It's really hard to find a kicker out there.
But he's in Indianapolis. Colt.
Yeah, good today.
But speaking of the calls, what the hell happened in India? I thought that should have been a slam dunk.
I thought that would be an easy when I thought the Jaguars were gonna be one of the teams.
That's like 34 Gwynn game team this year, but they're starting off with the win already.
We'll see what happens with the Colts favorite part of the game.
Cam Newton's touchdown.
The second one, the second one.
Long run? Yep, yeah, that was probably my.
The first one was probably my favorite.
It was just, you know, it was Get the ****** off the back.
It's kind of funny.
The Patriots scored 21 points in reality.
Could have like they should have scored a lot more.
In reality, they probably should have 31 than a kill Harry.
Fumble the miskicked by full, but they scored 21 points over, you know, about 350 yards of offense.
Not a single passing touchdown, right? That's the thing.
They didn't turn the ball over, either.
Uh, a little disappointed to see Dimier Bird not get a catch, you know, Didn't notice Jacoby Meyers out there.
E think the receivers, they're still going to be an issue.
But as Cam Newton gets mawr and Maura time running this offense, it becomes more and more dangerous.
I mean, you know, my body texted me, too, and said he still looks a little slow once he gets his game legs underneath him, he's gonna get even faster right now, I will admit, because of camps injury every time he dives forward.
I'm like, you never really felt that way with Tom Brady before, But it's your feeling that now with Cam Newton.
But, um, you know, he's strong.
He looks healthy, though.
Yeah, so I had the patriots as a floor of 10 wins a ceiling of 12.
I believe you had a floor of 11.
The ceiling of 13.
Do you feel any better? Any worse How do you feel now? It's about your prediction.
I feel about the same on Lee because I still know that they have such a tough schedule.
They look great. This is a great start to the season.
But I know next week is gonna be a big test when they have to play Russell Wilson.
He's lighting it up today.
I think he had 34 touchdowns already.
They're lighting up the Falcons as we speak, but I still think it's gonna be between 11 and 13 wins.
I think they're gonna They're not gonna miss a beat.
They've dominated for 16 17 whatever years it's been in a row, they said it today.
I think it was like 16 out of the last 17 A f C championships.
I think they're gonna win the A F. C s again.
So I'm on another podcast cast on Wednesday nights, as you know, and, um, my co host there in the producer.
They don't believe the Patriots could win more than 10 games or more.
They got, um, well, one of us, the nine wins one has him at eight.
I offered, and they wouldn't take it, man.
But I was ready.
I put $500 I said.
I will put $500 down.
They win 10 or plus games.
And when Sonny, the producer said, I get, make them in 18 18.
Dude, I put $1000 on the table, said I will put $1000 down.
They went eight games this year. 100%.
I will do that. I will do the same.
If I could get that, they wouldn't take it.
He wouldn't take it like No, no, I can't take.
I can't take that battle like no, no if your so called I said, because that's how confident I am.
I said I will put $1000 down.
They win more than eight games after what I saw today and I don't wanna hear paid the Miami Dolphins playing Shut up.
You know, this is what we're seeing is just the beginning of what this offense is capable of.
Just the beginning of what this defense capable of, they're still finding themselves right.
And from everything I saw today, I I still have no problem putting that 1500 bucks down on the table.
No, 100% I would do the same thing.
I think they're gonna I think they're gonna win 10 games or more and I think eight and eighties and singing.
I think they're definitely gonna go eight and eight.
I mean, we thought they were going to go at least eight and eight if they had Jarrett Stidham just because of how good of a coach Belichick is.
And now with Cam Newton, who looks like he's still in his prime, I think eight and eight is below the floor.
I think that 100% gonna win more than eight games.
Let me ask you this.
What did you think? Uh, Brian Hoyer being getting the nod at q B two over Jared Stidham.
Oh, I didn't even know.
Was that what they did? Jared Stidham was inactive today.
Brian Hoyer was the backup quarterback.
Wow, I don't know if it's because stadium they're still banged up.
Or if it's just because Hoyer, as such, the experience that they want him there talking with Cam Newton.
I know that Tom Brady loves having him on the sidelines and having him be like his guy, that he always talked Thio.
So it might be just because of the fact that he has so much experience with the team that they wanted to keep him out there.
I like Brian Hoyer as a backup, though I do too.
Um and I mean, I can't tell you right now that I trust Jared Stead of more than I trust Brian Hoyer t to be the backup.
I mean, I'm just gonna knock on wood and, you know, right of the heavens that Cam Newton has a healthy season, they're they're they're in some sort of trouble.
I mean, like we said, if it was Jared sit and we still thought they'd have a chance of like making the playoffs.
But I think if Cam Newton was to get injured, it's gonna be an uphill battle.
And I think that what I think we'll see this year that we didn't see before, um is if it is a blowout Cam Newton out of their earlier I agree.
I was surprised that he ran the ball with a minute left.
Well, just as I said, I thought I did not think he was gonna touch the football.
They still had thio.
They still had to seal the game, right? I'm gonna tell you on the fourth and one.
I mean on fourth and one that if the Patriots air going forward on for fourth and inches, they called it.
But it was really about 4th and 1/4 in a foot, maybe.
And if this is last season, that's a Tom Brady head down.
Sneak up the middle.
It Cam Newton took it out of the shotgun, man.
Cam Newton took out of the shotgun and picked up five yards on the point like it's and I'm not shocked by this.
We've seen Cam Newton play football before.
We've seen Mobile quarterbacks play, but I think sitting there in a Patriots jersey today watching my quarterback and everybody knows since the day they sign of you and I have both sad Cam Newton is our quarterback, right? That this is what he did today is what I was expecting him to dio.
I'm really hoping that we that he turned the heads of all the Doubters, you know, that's that's my peace.
I hope that he turned the head of the Doubters and that going forward, they're going to believe in Cam Newton Now.
I bet you that people are gonna say, Oh, look how he was acting on the field after the game.
Tom Brady never would have done that.
I liked it, man.
I liked it a lot.
I have no complaints.
And we knew that he was gonna come in here with a chip on his shoulder, and that's what we wanted.
We wanted a ****ed off, undervalued Cam New and who's trying to revitalize his career.
And that's what we got so far, Week one.
And I think that the revise revitalizing the Patriots, right? I mean, look, let's face it, and I'm not here to take shots, but let's face it, the Patriots offense under Tom Brady last season with the same receiving corps? Yep, they could not move the football at the end of the year, and I couldn't move the football at the end of the year.
And what what we see now is okay.
Cam Newton can run.
Okay? The Patriots running backs can run.
Oh my God, How do we cover receivers? Cover tight end.
And don't forget, they still don't adult and Keen was an inactive thing because he's still banged up in interesting.
That's the most athletic tight end.
So they still have weapons that are gonna come back to Yeah.
So this teams on Lee going to get better if I sound arrogant. Good.
I hope I sound arrogant because that's how confident, proud, happy I am.
We can worry about Seattle on Thursday when we do our show live on SportsCastr on Thursday.
For now, I'm just going to enjoy this victory.
I'm going to enjoy victory Monday.
I'm gonna enjoy talking about the wind with you on Tuesday on our show Live on SportsCastr.
And then Thursday we can get into Okay, how do they beat Seattle? What's your picks for the game? All that kind of nonsense we're enjoying.
Wanna know? We're enjoying being undefeated to the start of the season.
Undefeated baby undefeated in a mobile quarterback.
So happy, you know, is exactly what we were hoping for is this game.
It was, and we talked about it.
Man, don't be a loss because Patriot fans will crawl under a rock, you know, on.
And I couldn't take Patriots Twitter after a loss, but everybody's happy, and I think everybody saw the same thing that we saw.
This team is gonna look good.
The Patriots, Yeah, and that that's what I took away from.
This is that there's still the Patriots.
It's just like it was 78 10 12 years ago.
It's still the Patriots, just a different quarterback who can run the Mother F football.
Get back to your chili or whatever your mama made for you today.
Stuff and your mama's house watching the game with the parents back.
The old, the old stomping ground heroes.
They excited? Yeah, Absolutely, Absolutely.
So I was Jack because, as you know, I bought a puppy.
Yeah, the puppy's name is Jules, named after jewels, and when Julian Edelman did the end around for 15 yards and went out of bounds there, I had the puppy on my lap and I was like, Yes, jewels and she looked up.
It needs an absolute confusion of what the hell was going on, but I rocked my 11 from my puppy, rocked my 11 4.
The man Julie Gentleman and I complained to the NFL shop because my Devin McCourty and I Cam Newton still hasn't come in.
And basically yeah, and I got an apology.
That's it? That was it.
No, they're not telling me when it's coming.
And I just got a Sorry s o.
I'm like, all right, a condom and I'll let you get back to it.
Thanks for coming on.
I know that, um, I'd like to if we can make this a regular thing, but it's obviously going to depend on your schedule, my schedule, everybody's schedule.
But I think we can promise the fans we will do our best to try to get on here after every Patriots game.
And we'll come on, give our little recap.
So who knows? We may be more miserable next week.
I know we'll see, but I'm enjoying flying high right now.
Let's just enjoy everybody crack according have Fun Corner.
Say goodbye to the people.
Yeah, take it easy.
