And welcome to the latest generation of trying to use is an absolute livestream.
We're trying to give this a go for a pregame type show.
Um, instead of Andy this week, you've got myself and then Cristian Guzman and Kevin Wall, two of the writers on the site.
So here we go way, and it's gonna be interesting.
Interesting game, to say the least in terms of something that happened, everything that happened to be the O.
B on with both of you at least talking about long since we've actually so long since we've actually talked about anything College athletics way last couple of weeks, actually, you know, ramping up for a game week and getting things ready on the site for game day.
Hey, we're going.
Bottom line is we're talking about football, E.
I think no matter what happens in a little while Chapel Hill, we're gonna remember that At least we're getting to watch them. Syracuse football.
Yeah, e Christian.
You brought it up. Pre pre cast.
Who knows how long it will take seeing Virginia Tech just had their second game postponed, so we'll take advantage of it.
What? We've got it, I guess Way.
Hopefully we don't end up like like some of the schools down there with crazy outbreaks and keep things, keep things nice and tight and keep people on the field.
Absolutely, absolutely a big positive right now.
A came back negative.
So that's the first time off the ground you wouldn't you wouldn't think is the biggest.
But that is you actually get players on a it's, ah, it's gonna be keeping keeping as many guys on the field between actual injuries and between Cove.
It is gonna be a hurdle that we haven't had ever, so Okay, well, speaking of that, we notice Well, speaking of that, we noticed the travel squad was relieved.
Today, we're gonna We're gonna see a lot of new faces.
Anybody, possibly Aren't anybody in particular you guys were looking at? That's a Sarah's true freshman or just guys that haven't got the time people we haven't seen before.
People we haven't seen before.
I guess there are reserves last year and maybe some of the brand new players.
I think the way I think the biggest one that we're all looking at a less guard I mean, that's the biggest way.
Didn't think that would be a coming into this season, but now it is a denied They won't be David being injured.
I think it's a is an injured kind of that kind of creates.
Someone like Patrick Davis cited a But anyway, um, or your biggest question.
How will pull back a zero even against perform, I guess when they linebacker, UNC linebacker or not, you're lying back, of course.
Really strong time and clean.
Tommy, you know, clean E With Davis, it's it's it really changed the dynamic of what they could have done.
Had Davis scene.
He got plenty of snaps over the last couple of years that he wasn't the guy tapped on the shoulder.
It looks it looks like Darius his Dale locked up that other starting guard spot.
So, um, good to see him, you know, progressing, uh, in, you know, the depth chart.
But with Rhino, I brought it up on the site once.
I think him having experience at fullback and tight end really will help him, Um, as a tight end.
He's not used to interior down blocking, but he's played with his hand on the ground before.
As a fullback, he's used to, um, pulling a lot.
Well, used to effectively.
Um, making the same motions is pulling.
He's blocking on the run, which this or at least in the past, I don't know what Gilbert's doing.
But in past iterations of the Babers offense, there's been a lot of traps, a lot of guard movement.
So hopefully from an online standpoint, you know, he's a pretty solid, solid fit.
So, yeah, yeah, you know.
You know, speaking of, you know, can Gilbert healthy offensive line.
I'm curious to see how they utilize the tight end Aaron Hackett with Benson with the questions on the line with brand new running backs and knowing the responsibilities that running backs.
Having passed protection in this offense, I'm really curious to see if we see Benson and Hackett a earliest a short passing game.
Try and help the veto timing down, Maybe slow down the Carolina defense back on their heels back on the e o.
Because I've seen them Thio A.
You rely on video thio beat up to maybe not be, and maybe not be as rest uh, stress when he was in, like, 13 short situation.
That's where you could probably see guys like a take a couple of yards on first down.
Who with? Maybe hope plays that go yards, but get you good yardage.
Have that you know, doesn't have to do everything on sort of, given the situation you a little bit other than, you know, getting one, you know, yard or a or a, it'll be.
It'll be interesting to see also with the Elmore edition, whether you are you going to try and run over Vaccarello, who's a redshirt sop****re center, and to effectively green guards or you're going to try and move it out towards the traditional power.
Maybe a little off tackle type running, um, you know, utilize turn the turn, the game for turn the run game from a grinded out like you're talking that, you know, Kevin and I both lived through the Jorge de Leon era, so we're very familiar with that.
However, the you know, banging up the middle just never works unless you have an absolute stud of a line in an absolute state of running back and we've got a speed back as our starter.
We've got a left guard That's 6 ft 2.
80 who moves and get it outside.
Let let the athletes do athletic things and see what happens.
And if you wanted a if you wanted a power do that kind of a that would have been Jarvie on our e.
I think how it would have been distorted because that's what a vile that has the Labor Office has, like in the past 12 years with a drawer, Jordan.
Now you got it would be creative with how you move the ball in terms of running around the out, maybe even a place more R p o even e how they kind of exact Jordan like e running up the gut.
You could always take your left guard and put him in a full back in You Have you have had David.
So, actually, did Davis? Yes.
Okay, it was did travel.
I was looking at, uh, looking at the travel roster that we saw before the game.
So very, very interesting.
Maybe we'll see more.
E said, Maybe we'll feel more.
I said, maybe we'll see all more in a few spots.
All over the field refits regular utility man.
So So how about your way defense? First time against a pretty explosive offense.
What you guys looking for a way? I want to bring it up now with the way I read about the road from what I've read about way.
Also a way and it's safe.
First, he's always been dropping back because we haven't seen really as a pass rusher for a run defender as one of the main guys.
That stopping the run with an electric running game, electrical running duo.
And I need to get after Sam how well Cisco be really used, that type of way where we always see him back off coverage because he's always backing coverage in the world.
That's where I could see him.
Maybe not being a fact that truly, maybe true Williams for a miracle.
Yeah, I know, like last year when we brought in, when we brought in a nickel package, it was trilling that Nickelback role who, which is? It's kind of ironic.
I know, I know we've touched on it a few times, and we were talking about it before the cast.
How the three, the three kind of pivoted around where Kohli moved to the boundary.
Safety, UH, which is traditionally a strong safety, which is Cisco's old role.
Uh, we don't have.
We're now filling Kohli into the that role.
We have Cisco of the rover and then trail Williams, who was the Nickelback that could come up and make plays like he did against Wake Forest last year from, ah, former Nickelback role in a traditional free safety role.
So you got a lot of a lot of reactionary athletes out there.
I'll be curious because Cisco always did a very good job of responding to the run out of that safe.
But the deeper safety role? Um, if in that Rover role they're moving them closer to the line closer to liken outside backer type role, whether you know he's got if he's got the same reaction speed because too close like he did on the run from the safety spot.
Ah, he's gotta have pretty solid reaction speed reading the offense.
Well, so, uh, it might even be more beneficial moving a little closer line.
So it'll be, you know, one of those things that nobody really knows at this point.
outside of the coaching staff.
Yeah, I think, Yeah, I think I'll be really curious to see how the linebackers responds.
Like, probably looks like we're probably gonna get true Freshman Stefan Thompson starting off, starting on.
So, Caroline, I think, is gonna want to establish the run early.
They've got two good returning back, and in that 335 will be real curious to see how to Syracuse linebackers holed up in the run game way.
No, that that's been a problem the last couple of years.
Despite the high tackle numbers, a lot of those coming pretty far off the line of scrimmage.
So can these three guys hold up and allow this talented secondary to be able to make plays and 2nd and 3rd and long situations? When you have that, when you have that also something that concerning a couple of years as well is Mr There's a lot of especially there's a lot of open a one on one so that you don't get running back while we're running or so of the other three go another 3 to 5 yard e young like I want a young like that.
Well, don't be experiencing the experiences with college very to running back to running back wide, very good, widespread, like problems.
Given the use of Syracuse defense as well, do you think, playing in front of no fans? How does that the benefits to benefits with the especially with all these e think it does? I think it does, actually, because you want to necessarily.
You'd want to necessarily get the most immediate coaching, um, from from, um environment Windows fans, because he obviously won't be able to hear their coaches on the sideline when you have 70,000 fans screaming down at you to, you know, not make a tackle.
But now these players will be able to make more media adjustments on the fly as long as the coaching staff during their job as well that should Onley benefit them to be interesting, to see how quickly they and just as well, too how UNC place any, uh, overall thoughts on the game in general.
What do you think we're going to see? Uh huh.
Um, okay, I in a lot of steel, like we've seen, we've seen some interesting takes in the comments about North Carolina and the fact that they can't beat us.
And that's one of the craziest things that I've ever heard.
Uh, you know, this team is ranked 22 18 18 the rank rank 18 and media 19 coaches.
So, uh, 20 ranked so and, you know, people keep bringing up.
We were ranked last year.
They're going into the season, you know? Is it a fluke? And last year we didn't have to professional to future pro wideouts to future pro running back, a first round draft.
Take your second round draft pick, quarterback and linebacker.
That's gonna be, you know, up a round draft pick and surround.
So I kept wanting to say Sister out.
And that's the out receiver from Wake the CHS.
So it's a little bit like last year we had Cisco.
That's our only that was our only, like, this guy is penciled in as he's going to be a pro.
Beyond that, you know, a lot of question marks.
So I think this team is a legit top 25 team and we're not going to see too much of a fluke out of them.
I mean, if they give up guards to us and we keep it close then there's always a chance.
But there's a lot of firepower on the other side of the field.
Yeah, just to touch on that a little bit.
The stability of this U and Z roster in terms of how many people they brought back compared to what Syracuse lost in 28 you've lost Eric Dungey does the big one.
Yes, Al Robinson and kinda.
Coleman probably should have done a little bit more, given what they produced in 2018.
And you also, um, e mean Wide Receiver Report was committed shop, but running you maybe, maybe expected a little more Abdo Adams.
But defense, as you said on Francisco, was really own big playmakers that really showed up.
So the stability between that Syracuse 2018 team for 2019 is so vastly different than the U.
N C 2019 team and the U.
That's where the big or anything difference comes in when, in terms of what I'm watching in terms of this game, I had mentioned it in a previous threat.
It's the running back versus linebacker matchup for both teams because on both sides of the ball you have experienced group going and playing at the inexperienced group and the experience.
You won't see when you have chats around, sir.
And come on Fox going up against.
So our Georgia making his first start at running back, then another side of the ball, Michael Carter and Davante Williams going up against a linebacker group that has a combined 21 game of college football experience.
That's where the game is going to swing for me.
That's why I think that's why U.
C should be more, further ahead than I think people be alive.
Yeah, I would agree with that.
I think you know Syracuse fans instead of worrying about the final outcome.
You know, even the next couple of weeks, I think have to look for signs that the teams movement in the right direction for me.
You know, I don't question DeVito's arm talent.
You know, I'm looking to see the decision making, um, you know, making a second read, getting rid of the ball, getting out of the pocket, you know, making better decisions on defense.
I'm real curious to see how Tony Weitz, 335 looks to take advantage of the Syracuse athletes.
Um, we've seen a little bit of an uptick and recruiting lately.
So for me, it's kind of like looking at these two new systems.
Are we gonna see Cem? Cem, Cem positive steps forward to Syracuse, getting back to being a consistent top 25 team, you know, as they as they get that roster depth and talent coming in the next couple of years, Uh, talent coming in the next couple of years, something that it's nice to see on our side And curiously, is exactly what's got North Carolina in the position they're in and, you know, and even better recruiting class coming in next year.
So yeah, I I don't know.
I think, um, under talked about point also that I just thought of that kind of news that we talked about a little bit more.
He brought upon me the video Kevin on.
We brought up his wide receiver group, but how does he used the other? The other wide receivers under than Todd Harris? Way saw 19.
Johnson had a down year last year.
Balance because circus reality and throw the ball inside.
You have Anthony queasy now jump at head trip Cindy and the depth chart.
How was the time to veto use those other wide receivers to Is advantage possibly? Or is it all gonna be Todd Harris? Aaron Hackett defensive in the receiving game? I think that's gonna be keeping the watch as well.
So we don't see Turkey show some more versatility in this game.
I think that because very predictable Syracuse passing offense and that's where we could see, Um, even more signs that down in terms of how well Syracuse can do this season.
Yeah, I would like to see them attack the middle of the field if you're gonna spread the defense wide.
We talked about it.
You know, Steve, talk about getting your athletes in in space where they could make place.
And, you know, I'd like to see them.
You know, if Carolina is going toe, expect the receivers on the boundaries, you know? Then you get a lot of space in the middle of the field and you've got some guys who come in with some speed and some talent.
Can you get them one on one in space? Um, you know, I think back to that Louisville game and that's what they did toe Syracuse defense.
Got their athletes the ball, you know, 78 yard pass, but one on one in space where it's one missed tackle and they're gone.
And so I'd like to see Syracuse, you know, diversify that aerial attack.
So it's not just looking deep down, you know, down the sidelines or the bubble screens, you know, hitting the defense in the middle.
Keep the safeties home.
And then maybe it could get Harris more.
One on one on the outside.
And that's where I checked down to someone like to.
Our Jordan could be very, very effective for Syracuse because we know he has the talent to make a play in the open field.
Just get the ball to your aspects.
Such a great way to get the ball to each other way.
Know how good he is in the open field.
So maybe I checked out to him every now and then.
Be a great way to make.
Haven't make a play that I created a line on the run game with an unproven line.
You know, some way to get the ball in his hands.
Um, and with that, you may see a lot more of the, you know, single back, single back, single, tight end to make up for some of the pass blocking with, like, a late release on Jordan.
Uh, something you can slide between slide behind receivers around our coverage off.
So hopefully hopefully it comes to fruition, and we'll see from there.
Um, yeah, we're getting We're getting about four minutes before game time.
Um, I'm going to throw in our obligatory plug for home field apparel that Kevin and I are both rocking at present.
Um, s I've got another one in the mail, but they're took advantage of the free noon set.
A big noon Saturday there.
But they're they're currently, um, you know, giving us 10% off for the coach Nunes.
So Nunes, all caps and U N E. S.
Um, if you couldn't figure it out, it's on the stream.
You could just grab it from there, but, you know, consistently quality quality product from them.
Um, full line from Syracuse has launched some really intriguing designs.
I know Vita the goat.
It seems to be the personal favorite around the around the Nunes office, but yeah, beyond that.
Check them out at home field dot com and your home field apparel dot com.
Sorry and code Nunes for 10% off.
Um, beyond that, I think we probably want to maybe take a look.
I don't know, Christian.
We've We've all tossed predictions out on the site.
But do you want to put a number on it, or you wanna leave that open in terms of what, uh, what's gonna be? I think we can reiterate what we think.
I take a game days making their picks.
Right now, I'm gonna be surprised if someone picks.
They're gonna take a quick look.
It's all the issue.
It's the across the board. No shot.
Um um u N c 23 point favorites, which is probably not what you want to see their routine. Chris Syracuse.
And I thought it could be Ah, 42 17 win employer.
You just think disparity between the experience of unity, this ability of you and the versus the youth of care, if this is just gonna be too much to overcome on, I think you have to use the game as a learning experience in order to see okay, Where can we improve on for the upcoming games That we all see a coin flip games.
I'm happen to be in the dome, so I might make it easier.
But what can you improve on to improve your chances in those coin flip games? Yeah, I know.
Uh, all right, um, so similarly, I think I predicted them hanging 38 on us.
Um, I don't Yes, we have a lot of talent on the defense, but it's a very, very green squad.
Um, I that's a very high powered offense were coming against, Like you said earlier.
It's strength against weakness, um, or strength against an experience.
Uh, eso I think I pegged 38.
C which you know, I could see us.
E could see the offense finding a way to work.
I just don't think it's gonna work enoughto hang with the talent of UNC.
At this point, I would agree I've got Syracuse to cover, but I think UNC wins this game.
Yeah, I think they'll find a way to cover the spread.
Um, if if just barely, it's good, this is gonna be one of those games that appears on bad beat? Uh, yeah, E.
I mean, if you don't have any clue about Syracuse, I would take take against them any day.
And we do know things about Syracuse, and it's still like they they should cover baby fish.
Hopefully take keyword during an operative were being Maybe, if alright, guys have hit noon, so Well, good.
Uh, a panel already appreciate You guys swing by and we'll try and make this a weekly thing, I think.
For, uh, for Christian and Kevin.
You can always catch any, and I at eight o'clock on Sundays.
Here on Go orange.
