Welcome to the sports talk with Caroline.
My show for Friday, September 11th.
We're gonna be going over today's news headlines today on SportsCastr Facebook and Twitch.
So once again, thanks for joining us.
We wanna make sure Facebook is working.
So we were going to go to Facebook first.
Make sure everything is, um, completely working because we had a little note saying that it looks like they had some Boggs.
Hopefully, they resolved their issues.
Looks like they all working.
So we will send you your lengths.
Eso we go ahead and send you your length. Okay.
That lake is set over.
The Facebook also will go SportsCastr and sent over a link to the SportsCastr viewers.
If you want to come in and, um, chat with us through doing the show, you can Let's get this sent in.
I'll send this up to you.
So everything's up.
Also, Twitter as well has been sent over.
So let's go ahead.
Once again, I want to talk about high school football, um, high school football.
I hope that high school football does, uh, began because it's gonna begin on October 1st through third.
So we'll have Ed Daniels talking about that about what to expect for high school football.
We'll go ahead and play his, um, comments back.
So we'll go ahead and play that video for you.
We'll let you hear what he had to say about high school football.
Hopefully, um, the city could reconsider their decision, not Thio not do high school football.
I think they should do high school football in all these Paris because if you don't do, ah, high school football in all these parents, that's what you're gonna deprive these youngsters off ever plans.
So I think it's very important that, uh, high school football cross the station began.
If we could do it in a 50% capacity, I think it will help us in the long run.
So that's my opinion.
So let's go ahead and play at Daniel's back.
We'll go ahead and share the screen share.
The audio will give the audio be I'll give you that a second.
Let me get this switched over and we'll switch it.
I will play that, um, conversation with, um uh 106.
1 that Z 10 trey hand.
Let's go ahead. Play that back for you.
Speaking of unstable Oh, here we go.
Cardinals bullpen is blowing a game in the final, winning right now.
And that's not music to the years of our guest.
Right now, my good and great friend and Cardinal, compatriot and, of course, of WGN Oh and Luke Tailgater show Saturday mornings tend to do it in Crescent City sports dot com.
He is, of course, at Daniel's head.
I don't know, man, you know? How does this Cabrera gives up a home run now? Guy, he goes, walks.
The leadoff man gives up consecutive hits.
Looks like he's hurt.
He's out of the game.
They're blowing the lead, blowing the game.
Give me some stability, make me more stable and give me some wisdom.
It could be worse. Could be the Tigers.
Well, you know what, Kenny? I think you just have to have some faith.
Ryan healthy is coming in the game.
He throws hard, he could strike out the side.
See that? I like your positive perspective, man way.
Count it all, Joy.
Hey, he straightened it.
He straightened it out.
We want to talk about high school sports with that.
But Michael is you know, my friend went through a procedure not too long ago.
And I pray for him on this show.
And we pray for him and churches and pray from the Bible.
Did everything else we did.
Hey, seems to be What's the word tonight? Stable.
He seems to be more stable, right? You know, Ed, when When you were going through this, and I think you can think of Mark Twain said the predictions of my demise were over exaggerated.
We prayed for you, man.
We really did. And we stopped.
We called your name and a lot of your friends.
And and both boy, when you it's one thing to have that prayer.
But when you're walking through that individually, it is it is a battle.
And, uh, these are the times in these moments of solitude where all we have is holding on to our faith, man.
And you sound strong.
How you How you feeling? Well, I'm feeling good.
I'm feeling really good.
In fact, September 25th, I will be exactly three weeks or three months past the surgery, and I feel terrific.
I'm started cardiac rehab.
The only thing I can't really do right now is is walk very fast or run.
But I'm told that that will come back a t at the appropriate time.
I'm working with some great people in my in my rehab and feeling, uh, really good about that.
But I got to tell you the you know, I had I had unbelievable care and the people were fantastic.
And the only the only re Elish you, I think, was the first week.
The first week was genuinely uncomfortable when you, you know, and I had something called a heart valve repair.
I've been having some serious problems with a fib, and this has been going on for over three years.
And that's something that I just had to get fixed.
And I said, Hey, I'm gonna do it.
Andi, that's it.
So we did it, Trey.
And probably exacerbated that when you had to deal with him on Saturday mornings.
You know what? I tell you What? Um, if I've survived all those years with him, Michael, you know, I've gotta I've gotta be strong.
That's all I can say? I mean, you know, either I was going to get either they were gonna fix it and and repair me and get me back up to speed.
Or I was gonna have to ball out just from the stress.
Uh, yeah, but he was worried about you.
He was praying for you like we all were.
Man. Glad to hear you.
You know, the only the only the only way I could tell right now The only way I could tell right now is that I've had open heart surgery is I have a 19 centimeter zipper down the middle of my chest that every morning.
I'm reminded of that when I get out of the shower.
But other than that, I feel fantastic.
And again, my surgeon was incredible.
The nurses, the nurses, aids, the entire staff at, uh, at auction, er they were incredible.
And and my, uh, my position told me after three months, if I wanted to, I could jump out of a plane, and I just might take him up on that at some point.
No, don't do it.
Just don't do it.
And I'm not going.
So forget about it Not gonna happen, All right.
So today, the latest in the saga of high school football, it's really the state of Louisiana.
By the way, the Cardinals were falling behind it just now.
Two run single by the Tigers to take the lead in the seventh inning.
So they've not only blown the game, they've blown the save and they're gonna lose the game and still nobody out.
So there you go.
Whatever it might be, there's your answer anyway.
That's what happens when you walk the leadoff man and with three outs to go on a two run lead and can't get anybody.
So you know, it's a saga that continues today out.
Mayor Cantrell again defies the governor in the state.
Now, maybe she'll change her mind by tomorrow with regard to Phase two versus Phase three.
Because in Phase two, as she continues to say, she keeps saying her answer to the at all regarding prep football is phase two.
She doesn't say no.
Don't say anything else.
Remarkably and again, this isn't a political show, but sometimes politics crosses into sports, so it has to be addressed.
But what's absolutely head scratching and remarkable is that she applies today that she has no idea that two Lane has been practicing for the past month obviously lends itself to the fact that she has no idea that two Lane is playing a game at home in nine days.
I just Look, I understand you're busy and you got a lot on your plate, but I don't know what to make of this.
I'm scratching my head. I'm trying to be understanding.
I'm trying to be fair minded, but I'm having a hard time understanding any of this. Help me out.
Well, you know, here's the thing that bothers me is what bothers me is this Is that, um, Greg Stewart, who is in charge of the Americans response to Kobe.
He's the chair of the advisory committee on Cove in 19.
He's been heavily involved with that league and getting them up to speed the plight college football, and he's been an adviser to the L. H s.
Kenny, you and I have known Greg Stewart a long time, I think.
Not only is he a terrific position, but he's one heck of a guy and his job is to take care of people, and it's something that I know.
He takes extremely seriously.
And I don't think there's any way that Greg Stewart would recommend to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association or to the American Athletic Conference that the kids are.
The student athletes play football If he didn't think they were safe and to me, um, the fact that she is unaware of this and, uh, you know her chief medical individual? I don't I don't know.
Uh, this lady's credentials, I don't.
But here's a guy who is the consultant okay for one of the top six leagues in college football, who's telling his university presidents that it's safe enough to play football? And then he's telling the Louisiana High School Athletic Association that it is safe enough to play football, and they have totally discounted whatever he has said to me, it's just utterly amazing.
And you know how How could there's gonna be some true freshman on the field that yeoman stadium next Saturday agree they're one year removed, their one year removed from high school.
So I'll be honest with you, Dr Greg Stewart.
Um, he has he has the right opinion what he's saying because look, look, if it's safe to play football, if we go, maybe 15 we go.
We may go here 10%.
I think it would be absolutely imperative that we shouldn't play.
I mean, that's, um, coming from a doctor right there.
It's not coming from a quack or none of that stuff that's coming from a world were.
Now, doctor, that's that two lanes.
So I'll be honest with you.
Look, there's no reason not for Orleans Parish not to play football in general.
So once again, this is from Allah.
Were listening to Ed Daniels discuss, um, the future of high school football here in the state of Louisiana, especially in the New Orleans um, area.
So we are talking about that right now.
Eso once again, thanks for joining us here.
Do you have a question comment regarding high school football? You could push your comments for your SportsCastr Facebook and twitch.
So we are live also.
If you wanna come on video, chat with us, Come on.
You can bear the stream yard length, so let's go ahead and go back there. Daniels.
Why are they not in danger? But all the other kids in Orleans Parish are.
And believe me, the coaches, you know, there's been one or two coaches who have spoken out, and we know who they are.
But there's a ton of coaches who are absolutely living about this.
And look, I understand.
At least I hope I do the seriousness of coronavirus.
I think you know when you see the numbers in Louisiana, you get it. But here's the deal.
Jefferson Parish has had Mawr coronavirus cases than New Orleans, and Jefferson is in face three now with the state are going to be and Jefferson is playing sports.
Don't get it, Michael.
Well, you know, I've had a problem with the reporting itself.
Uh, should should the question be, ah, positive test or should it be symptomatic? I mean, when when they told us and they told you when you had Children and they had they had their their their sick days.
Don't put them in school.
But we we grow and we live all around these things.
It seems unjust.
You know, Proverbs talks about unjust scales.
It seems like within the Paris their their e don't know where you get to the point where it sounds more like power than it sounds like concern to me right now.
And you're exactly right.
You've got this is going on in states all around the kids have been practicing the high school kids have been practicing.
That has been done, and they go out of their way.
And I just don't understand this automatic knee jerk.
Well, we're going to set up a committee now.
We're gonna have to study this.
Well, that drags it out.
And, uh, I just think that's unnecessary.
And but, uh, that sort of ineptitude, uh, is normal around here.
We've laughed about it for years, but we've suffered because of this type thing.
Well, you know, the one thing I would say is also is that Let's look at what's going on in the state of Michigan.
They're basically shut down.
For a long time there the mayor, I mean, not the mayor, but the governor of Michigan, Gretchen Wittner, didn't allow people to even cut grass.
Alright, So Michigan is Michigan has been really in a locked down.
All right, but guess what? Michigan is going to play high school football this fall, and but they're requiring their athletes to keep their faces covered.
But they're going to play high school football this fall, and we're gonna We're not gonna let the kids play in Orleans Parish.
And here's what's gonna happen.
All the games in Orleans are going to other parishes, right? You know what we did? We did.
We did some reconnaissance work on that this afternoon, by the way.
And Carl and Carl then he said they don't have availability at Memphis and their books for all, but maybe, yeah, let me get this right.
I think he said six year.
Um, like I said, here in ST Bernard Powers, we got two stadiums.
Why not put one of those teams in that stadium we have bobbing us, which is down up the road from me, and they got Ed Higher Stadium, which is, um, Sacred Art High School.
I think that would be a good solution.
Um, for, um, toe have high school football there because they only play middle school football at separate on high school.
But you could play a game that shall met high school, and that would be a good fit seem like cold across, crawl across.
That's a rivalry that could play their game.
Um, so, like on the Thursday night, um, and bombing us and shall that place the next night? So that would be, I would think, Why not? So so I once again, this is from Ed Daniels.
Um, let's go ahead and read.
Correct. Play the video.
A six open slots between the two stadiums for the whole year.
So again, it's a It's a good concept, but you're gonna have to find somewhere.
The fact that they are looking to find somewhere it goes somewhere isn't itself troubling, and I completely and totally respect the job that leaders have, Governor Edwards said today.
This is one of the most difficult decisions he's had to make.
But he made it and he's going to move forward and give it a chance.
And tomorrow he'll announce what the guidelines will be.
I don't think it's gonna be his free form a.
Some people think it is, but at least he's giving it a chance.
And I commend him for that where the ESA is concerned.
The comment that was made by the respected doctor who spoke today, and the respected mayor who spoke today is troubling from this perspective.
What has been done over the past several months, and I'm sure they're paying no attention to it, is that these schools have had these student athletes on campus every day do talking out, lifting weights, practicing, sweating everything imaginable without any real issues.
Why? Because they have instilled and installed their own provisions to ensure the safety of said student athletes.
When it comes to provision for games.
The essay made it clear over the weekend when they have the meeting last Friday and then the executive committee meeting this week, schools will administrate the games.
They will administrate the games.
They're responsible for making the decisions about what provisions were taken.
Do you have sanitizer at the gate? You have sanitizer in the stands.
Do you wear a mask when you come in? Do you have your temperature taken? The schools have those responsibilities.
So the point is this to point the finger at the L.
H s A and say we haven't seen anything from Member heard anything from them about this.
They don't really understand what's going on.
Well, don't they know Don't they know that these student athletes have been on campus for months now? E, it was e A.
I don't know what's been what they've been told or whatever, but, um, you know, there's I guess I'm gonna I don't want to generalize or, um downplay, uh, this situation because it is a very serious situation.
But there's a couple of things that, you know, I don't know.
Football is very important in the South, and I don't think it's a, uh, irony that, um, most of the football this fall is gonna be fight in the South.
Uh, it's, you know, it's just a a different, um, look at things in the Midwest and on on the West Coast.
It's just different.
Um, and, you know, look, um, thes kids want to play and any child that doesn't want to play are the parents of any child that doesn't want their child to play ought to just sign a waiver and move on or just not.
But their child play, you know, keep him off the field.
I mean, everybody has a choice.
In the meantime, you're penalizing all of these kids you want to play and all the parents who have give them given them they're okay to play.
You know, uh, out of the box.
100 and 7777 days ago, we all of us, none of us had a problem as good citizens and what we thought we should do for the 15 days and all of that.
But a lot of a lot of talk has gone back and forth like this.
Side believes this.
This side believes that.
Well, I I think after a time can you not understand that when other people see this level, I don't want to use the word incompetence, but this cavalier way of doing business e This does not do anything to bring people together when you and I and can.
No town knows better than New Orleans with the psyche of the town.
Happens when football is played.
We saw it in the dome.
We saw the Falcons game here.
I mean, so that could bring some of the healing back.
So when they see this cavalier thing, it doesn't bring people together.
It starts it back up.
And I just think she needs to try.
Well, you know, What? Here's the deal.
When you say two or three months ago on national TV that you don't think you should have any fans of games.
I mean, don't you think it's a little premature to say that we all agree? Or, you know, Look, even if you believe that, Okay, Don't say anything right now, okay? No one really knows at this point. It makes no.
It makes no, uh, sense to make some kind of rock like and the same thing with Mardi Gras.
If I'd have known this, I would have canceled Mardi Gras, and then I would have been the mayor to do it, you know? Wait a minute.
Hold on a second.
You know, um, you know, Mardi Gras belongs to the entire city, and in the meantime, we have three entire hospitality in industry in this town Tremendously.
Okay? People aren't working.
They've suffered tremendously.
Why? Why? Why are we making statements like that? The best thing that the best thing to do is just if you don't, you know why talk about not having fans in the games.
I mean, you know why I go on the air and say those things.
It just it doesn't make any sense and and I don't get it.
But as far look, if Greg Stewart tells the Louisiana High School Athletic Association that they that they can move on and play, You know, I think I think he's a pretty credential than fair individual, and the fact that they would just discount whatever he has to say to me is truly unfortunate.
Ken, let me ask you a question.
This some of these numbers, they're they're they're unjust.
They're not truthful.
A lot of times I was hearing the thing about Kansas City.
Today arrowheads, a big stadium, probably seats about 65,000 people and they just a on all of this stuff.
And they said, they said, Well, we're only gonna allow 14% now Where do you pull that from? I mean again.
I mean, there's so many things that can be done, and I agree with you guys.
There comes a time that you just have thio in faith, makes them moves because they have done due diligence.
They haven't been they haven't been crazy.
And these guys in the Louisiana High School Association I think they've done a marvelous job.
You know, And it really it really is amazing that, uh, it really took.
I think the attorney general's letter was a big part of this thing during the schools that they aren't liable.
Look, I just think that, you know, when you when you talk about whatever, I go to different states, I see how much better their facilities are and what their kids don't have to deal with.
And I'm just amazed, you know, extracurricular activities not only for the kids on the field, but the kids in the band.
The students who go to the game, the cheerleaders, everyone who was involved, the trainers, everyone who is involved in something like this.
It's such a positive experience.
And to just feel like you can just, uh, arbitrarily, you know, just rule on something like that is to me, uh, you know, every time I just see someone who is who is, uh, authoritarians, uh, in nature.
And, um, I don't know if that's the best Look, that's the point.
Well, it's a again way.
Try not to politicize anything, because that's not at all what we do here, and we respect all points of view.
and we respect safety and respect the whole concept of what's happening with this virus.
Lord knows I do with knowing six people have died and another who almost did.
And that goes without saying that said, there is some.
There is a basic tenet here that plays within us, and that is the basic freedom that we have and with the high school sports, as we've said over and over again, if the student athlete is all in and wants to participate, the coaches all in and wants to participate, and Ed Daniels and I have not spoken toe.
One coach that doesn't want to play some of them won't say this publicly, and they don't speak out because they're in positions where it could endanger them in some way politically or with their own jobs given who they work for.
But they want to play.
The kids want to play, the parents want the kids to play and the principles want the kids to play.
You have that dynamic in place.
Why are you preventing them from doing so? Because there's a simple aspect that's applicable here, which is if you don't wanna play, if you don't feel safe.
You don't play, you opt out, you won't be punished.
That's what's happened on other levels, and everybody respects that.
And that's the same premise here.
So why would you prevent this from happening when you and then the last, You know, one or two more things with that before we let him go, had the whole concept of a task force.
I mean, I said, scratch my head earlier.
I want to say something stronger now because I think that's ridiculous.
What do you need a task force for? What do you need this for? And by the way, a task force, Uh, that's going to study this over a period of weeks.
The season starts in three weeks.
Got again? That's probably can't study when the season starts in three weeks.
What do you need a task force for? Well, here's the deal.
We're talking about it.
Yeah, we all know about how politics works in a task.
Force is government by consensus.
And what what if the task force recommends it then and it doesn't work? Then you have cover.
Well, this is what the task force recommended.
You know, committees, all of this stuff, you know, You know, uh, you over the years, you and I have seen it.
Ah, million times when people start talking about all these committees and getting 20 people involved in all this other stuff study this and study that, you know, I I'm a little, uh I'm a little cir***spect when it comes to that stuff.
And, you know, like like I said, I just think that when you have a gentleman who is the chair of the advisory board for one of the sixth biggest league in college football recommending that the Louisiana High School Athletic Association move forward, then I think what you have there is an executive director who is making a, uh, Mr Bonin.
He's making a balance decision, all right.
And I don't know the, uh, credentials of, uh uh, Dr avec No, I don't know anything about her, really, Honestly.
Other than what I've seen in press conferences, and I haven't personally attended any of them.
I'm sure she's extremely smart and great at her job, but I I don't think she's any more qualified than Greg Stewart to make that, uh, you know, make that assessment.
I don't think to many more people are more qualified than he is and that they've just kind of written off.
What he said, uh, to me is just disappointing.
Well, you've got 64 parishes in the state of Louisiana, right? Yeah.
You got 63 that are on board with doing something and one that is, Well, you know, here's again.
Let's put this in perspective.
Michigan is going to play high school football this fall, right? Okay.
Michigan shut everything.
They shut everything down, and they're still pretty much shut down.
But you know what? This isn't This isn't just This isn't just about football, okay? When you go in and you start investigating places and trying to shut down places and make sure that people are complying and all this other stuff okay, The only thing you're doing, the only thing they've done is hurt businesses.
All right? And you know I'm not.
I'm not invested in the business in, in In in New Orleans.
Okay? But I work for one that's heavily invested in New Orleans, so I guess I am.
But here's the Here's the deal.
If you don't have businesses anymore, and you don't have people.
Uh, well, with any money, then pretty soon we're not gonna have advertisers.
And I'm gonna be looking for a job.
Alright? Yeah, on.
And, you know, I mean way.
Just gotta have a We gotta have a bigger picture here.
Okay? We gotta have a bigger picture.
In the meantime, last weekend, I go to Florida, and Florida is thriving, okay? Thriving.
And they've had a pretty serious Corona outbreak there, and they're thriving, all right.
And I'm tired of of were always last and again.
Once again, when it comes to playing high school football, which, as far as I'm concerned, is one of the most quality endeavors you can have for a young person to be involved in high school sports.
All of a sudden, guess what? Well, last again, okay? And New Orleans is beyond last, and, you know, if it sounds like you know, I'm just dismayed by it, and and no one seems toe under understand that.
And yet, all of you know, we had a gentleman call our radio show last week saying that he disagreed.
He was in New Orleans east and he was getting He was at a home depot, whatever.
And everybody had masks on.
And he was worried.
Okay? And I get it.
That that's a gentleman's prerogative.
And he was extremely nice and very professional when he spoke to us.
He was very respectful when he spoke to us, even though we don't totally disagree with him.
Would you agree, Ken? Yeah, we don't agree with him, but it was terrific.
It was terrific.
The gentleman was fantastic.
But then at the end, he says, I've got to go back to Georgia.
They pay me too much money.
Comment. That was his last comment.
And you know what I said? I said to myself, Hello.
Why isn't this gentleman who is obviously pretty smart and pretty accomplished at whatever he does? Okay, why does he have to go to Georgia to earn a living? And I see that all the time.
Okay, But then, you know, way don't have a climate that wants to move forward, okay? And and be the best we can be.
And all the other states around us around us celebrate by getting the best of what Louisiana has.
And many of those people are not in Louisiana.
Well, there's a reason for that.
And I can tell you what it is.
It is because of the way we think.
Right? Well, it za kind of thinking and cavalier thinking that that too precious families with six months and saw their loved one trapped up on a building.
And we didn't even think it was priority to get him down. So exactly.
I I don't I don't understand.
I don't understand.
I don't understand how how that first of all it happens, which is a tragedy in itself, and it will get it done.
It looks so bad.
Okay, it looks so bad.
But those people there remains air up there for months.
Okay? And the only thing is, the only thing I would say is, would that happen in Texas or Florida? They used a on Tuesday, And you know what? The answer is? No way.
But for months, we could never get a straight story.
About what? What what was being done? I'll give you an example.
One day I'm in Rouse's I'm shopping one day and I hear this voice thanks from God, come up behind me.
How are you doing, young man? You know who it waas? It was general honoring.
From from Katrina days, media don't get stuck on stupid.
Remember him? Yeah, he got it done.
Guess what he needed lights and power in the New Orleans center.
And from what I understand, he got very, very upset when he got there and he didn't have lights and power.
And you know what? He all of a sudden was able to move a few mountains that people said weren't able to be moved.
You know what I just like? I like that kind of attitude, all right? They were going to get it done, and that's the end of it.
And I'm I'm tired of seeing our state, which is a great state with great people.
Okay, a great state with great people across the board, great people from every corner of our state.
I'm tired of us being last, and once again, we're last, and that that that is just to me is just really, really bad.
Let me read this real quick to Lane with a tweet, most recently because I think it's important to point out it's all about Tulane University's followed the return to practice and return to play Protocol is developed by the A and the American Athletic Conference.
And then I talked about all the program protocols that took place, and you know most of what they are of the protections to make sure that everything was done safely.
And then it says this.
During our most recent meeting, August 19th, city officials and the university agreed that two Lane would be permitted a maximum of 250 guests of student athletes with masks and distancing When home games resumed, there will be no other fans permitted and, of course, two lanes.
Home opener is against Navy and Yeoman Stadium on September 19th on W G Eno 11 AM OK.
City officials have already approved this, and yet they didn't know anything about two lane practicing or getting ready for a season today.
E just I mean to me.
It is mind boggling, and you and I speak publicly all the time.
Ed and people are gonna take issue with what we say regardless, and we have thick enough skin to deal with that, and we're respectful of everyone in all opinions, and we always will be.
I'll say that for you and on behalf of you because I know you and I know you know me.
But it's truly remarkable that you can sit here and and claim you're unaware of something when in fact, you know, this has already been approved by city officials.
Now that said, what we do know is this and you and I know this better than anybody.
If you don't know something about a particular topic, don't comment on it.
And and to me, that's a far better place to go and a place to visit him, to say something that doesn't make any sense.
Aside from the high school issue to make that comment after you say that, Well, the saints got an exemption.
A za professional entity, right? So I mean, to me, it's a aside from decisions, whether you think these decisions by the city, you're bad by the mayor.
Not the city of the mayor, I should say.
But then again, there is a council on what have they said about this? Just nothing, you know and other leadership, by the way, I'm just asking so that they're not defending her, but she's not the only leader in that city, so where are all the others to speak up, where all the others to speak up and defend and and help the young men and women that are working so hard to try to compete? Neither one of us has ever advocated competing.
If it's not safe, neither one of us nor we ever.
We have been adamant, and I have said from Day one, and I know it is, too.
If there's any evidence that there's a definitive threat, don't do it.
But you never know until you try.
And if you try and you find there's a real problem, you shut it down.
But at least you try.
We've seen it going on in other states for a couple of weeks on the high school level, apparently pretty well.
We've seen it going on in college for the last few weeks.
Apparently, pretty well, you know, I'm watching right now is playing tonight.
The NFL had one positive test out of 2671 players.
One positive test out of 2671 players.
Why? Because they're taking every precaution imaginable.
Point is, it could be done.
Oh, by the way, Did you test him for any other potential diseases? I'm just asking.
There's communicable disease everywhere.
And when you're incontinent, people just Booth.
The bottom line is that give it a chance, give people a chance, have a level of understanding.
And, oh, by the way, you know everybody else isn't wrong and I'm right.
I've never felt that way about anything.
I don't always have all the answers.
I feel strongly about certain topics, but you don't have the answers that everyone else doesn't have.
That's been my experience in life.
And maybe, just maybe, that ought to be a position that certain people should take this point in time.
Well, you know, let's just let's just hope that, um, I just hope that the, uh, the young man who want to play football in Orleans, they find a place to practice.
And in other parishes, they schedule their games.
They move on, um, and and and they get to play.
And you know the fact that if we don't have any football this year and tag normally and Pan American and Joe Brown and you know it's just it's just, uh I don't know it Z.
It's extremely frustrating.
Like I said, you're gonna have a true freshman on the field in the to line game.
He's okay playing playing against adults in a college game.
But Children are not okay, you know, playing, playing and, uh, in the city.
It's just it's just amazing to me, So I don't know.
Um, we'll see what happens.
I gotta run, guys.
Got to get the one, uh, thanks for all the kind words, and I'll talk to you soon.
Let me really wait.
What? They said, Look, this is like I said, Look, this is a common denominator with this situation going on with high school football.
Look, if they don't allow them to play in the city, well, let him play somewhere else.
They got Jefferson Parish.
They got Plaquemines Parish, which is, um, across the river from me.
Onda, over here, where I'm at in ST Bernard Parish.
I mean, you could play in those areas, so I don't allow that.
I mean, ST Bernard Parish.
Sure they had some coronavirus cases, but not a some bad as, um um Jefferson Parish, Uh, in general.
So I look at it.
This white look, this is going to be, Um um a, um, if this is gonna be a tough decision for the man to take.
But the truth of the matter is what we all got toe do our part.
If we do our part, we could get things done.
Um, like they said they quoted, um, General Honore, don't be stuck on stupid folks.
Don't be stuck on stupid eso.
Once again, This is from Ed Daniels talking about high school football here in the state and another thing across the country.
You have Mississippi playing high school football.
You got Alabama.
You've got Florida.
Um, I mean, it could be done.
It could be done, folks.
It could be done.
Um, but like I said, Louisiana's lasted every single category.
Look, that's gotta change, folks.
I mean, I'm not here toe be political with anybody here at 1.
30 in the afternoon on on a sports talk show like minds, that goes to five networks, which is Facebook, Twitter, periscope and YouTube.
But the truth of the matter is, we all got, we all gotta roll the bike.
But the truth of the matter is, we have to have high school football.
What? You're depriving these young men off getting, um, um being players on They want to play this year, and I hope they do play.
So once again, this is from at Daniel.
So let's go ahead and go some headlines.
I'm going toe enough with me. Rambling.
Okay, let's go over Thio.
Crescent City Sports.
We'll talk about what's going on here in the New Orleans area.
Get that switched over and we'll give you, um, What's going on? Okay, Concepts for saying some, um, remains the same Aziz one year ago with one exception is absolutely, uh, because the Saints are playing this Sunday.
I'll be honest with you.
This is gonna be another team right here.
That Z that did a lot of things.
So, um, is Drew Brees gonna retire after this year? I'm pretty sure he will retire after this year.
I'm pretty sure he will.
We have some capable enough quarterbacks that could, um um, take over once he does retire.
We got capable of the quarterbacks to tell you the truth, so I'll be honest with you.
Um, look, if they can start off on the right foot, this coming on Sunday against the Minnesota, um, Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Uh, that could, um, that can move mountains.
That's one thing they can dio.
So once again, this is from Crescent City sports.
Go to question city sports dot com for more information.
Um, so So, once again, Ken Trahan is, uh, right on this article.
Okay, let's give you some injury reports.
Um, on the Senate's box p.
Williams Limited with a hamstring injury, Davenport and Rules was ruled out.
Um, on Thursday said it well, out of practice.
So So that was on the, um um, Andrew reports.
So hopefully it's not sustainable injuries and stuff like that.
This is the, um, Michael Thomas was talking to the media as well.
This is the transcripts were showing you, um now from Jenkins also talked to the media as well.
So, once again, this is from Ken Trey hand follow him at Crescent City Sports also follow him on Twitter.
He's a very good Okay, let's go ahead and okay.
New Orleans remains in phase two.
Meeting a football is still on hold, so that is unfortunate situation.
Um, Governor John Bel Edwards on Thursday announced that the state will be moving into the face street.
Um, off the coronavirus.
Um, pandemic response.
So they're going to be, um, games will begin on October 1st, but the city of New Orleans is holding out, saying they are going to remain in phase two.
Schools in the city of New Orleans will not play.
So hopefully, um, like I said a few minutes ago, hopefully they can find a place, um, play.
But they Here's the thing about that.
Tulane University did, um, had started their practice last month, and also there was going in full pads.
Also, Dr Greg Stewart, the Dr that convinced the else A and, um um, uh, see, double a toe play football.
So I'll be honest with you.
Look, this is another example of how, um, politics rules over everything.
So, once again, this is from Crescent City sports.
Go to Crescent City sports dot com expressed the city sports dot com, see what else we'll talk about here.
L s U shape, um, focused on 2021 class, um, recruiting soil on the final stretch.
So that Z that have 18 verbal commitments on the 2021 class.
I like what I'm saying out of those, um, out of l s u out of their recruiting classes and stuff like that.
So I think it's a good, um example of building a program and around these young, talented kids that coming out of these high schools.
So once again, this is from Crescent City Sport Crescent City sports dot com for a NATO was the writer.
He followed him a Crescent City sports a swell.
Okay, let's talk about the New Orleans pelicans, the Wallace Publicans coaching search complex and worry of patients.
So hopefully, um, David Griffin will find somebody that would be a a good fit for our talent that we have for this pelicans basketball team.
So because, like I said, Alvin Gentry, I'll be honest with you.
Alvin Gentry just, um, wasn't the one to get this team back.
Thio a sense of winning because what? Um, the last couple of years, he's not been getting this team, um, prepared because they've been getting blown out of games and just absolutely getting destroyed.
Um, and also the turnovers was the big factor in this 2000 and 19 2000 and 20 season.
So hopefully, um, we dio find a net, um coast that will, um, can get this team back toe winning ways.
So once again, this is from Crescent City sports.
Go to Crescent City sports dot com.
That's Crescent City sports dot com.
Okay, let's see what else we'll talk about.
Two lane with heavy work ahead of Saturday's opener with South Alabama, will have Willie frets.
His video will play his video well with threats and go with helmets.
Practice normally during the season will go shoulder pads and helmet on Thursday.
But because of the length of time that we worked on South Alabama, you know, we want to make sure that get our legs underneath this refresh and frisky.
Then we cut way back on Friday.
I'm not a There's some some schools that do the fast Friday where they cut back on Thursday and they go hard for an hour and 15 minutes on Friday.
I just I like I feel like you got a reservoir of energy and we want that thing filled to the prim Andi.
That's how we way go on what we do, so normal week for us Monday, we do a little bit of stuff.
It's our big lift.
A. We take Sunday off.
Monday's are way do a little bit of stuff on Monday, football wise.
Mostly, though, we're watching game that we played on Saturday, and then we're watching a little bit of tape on the upcoming opponent and then on Tuesday is a big work day for us. Wednesdays.
A big work day for us.
We cut back a little bit on Thursday and we cut back a whole lot on Friday, then play the game on Saturday.
So we're getting into that boat, you know, beginning today and tomorrow.
Anybody got any questions? Still, you're starting, right? Yes.
Still, you know, we're gonna play a few guys on the offensive line, and we have not done that before.
We kind of played a you know, five group of five.
And that's all we've played.
But we're gonna play some guys of that right guard.
Josh Repetition will be playing a soul.
Ben Newton plays well, the right tackle Jalen Miller.
We'll be playing will also be playing trade.
Tuggle, right? Cam Jackal might have an opportunity to get in there a little bit also, but yeah, we're gonna We're gonna play 78 offensive lineman during crunch time on Saturday, which we haven't done much of in the past.
We just haven't had that luxury.
Yeah, we did a great job, are recruiting office and and our coaches didn't outstanding job.
We really feel like everyone of our shot green from over a university high in Baton Rouge is gonna be a great player Force.
He's 63643 15 and really could move.
Well, you know Joseph Solomon, a guy that just needs to get a little bit more mass, a little bit more strength.
Nobody's 65 you know, to 70 to 75.
He's gonna be a big fella.
Mata Lombardi, you know, is 6667 He's about to 75 right now.
He's gonna be a real big guy.
Uh, you know, we feel really good about about all those guys that we signed.
I hope I'm not leaving anybody out.
It might be Jerry.
You probably know better.
Maybe it will you you know, a shot.
As I mentioned the beginning, he's just done and It's gonna be a great player for us.
We got these guys here, you know, were If we do a good job hitting on our guys this season, we're gonna really, really have Ah, you know, a real division one.
Offensive line, good movement for a big fella.
You know, he's He's a legit 65 He's £300.
He's got good strength to for a freshman, you know, he's a Ventures way over £300.
I'm not sure exactly does a good job cleaning and squatting.
And normally those guys were a little bit behind because they got a long levers and you haven't had a chance Thio to develop.
They get their lot stronger their fourth year than they are there their first year.
But he's got good strength right now for for a college offensive.
Limaj, which is rare for freshman, usually the freshman, they've got great strength or, you know, the sod off guys, you know.
613 10 you know, in short arms bench.
Going to go down very far for squat.
He's really got a good strength for a for a tall, long guy.
Your first after Enezi.
Yes, he is he's on scholarship.
So is Matt Smith, and we're really blessed.
We've got to quality long snappers stick.
Oh, they got pretty good size.
They do a really good job of high point in the football.
There's a lot of you know that quarterback will throw it up.
And one of the toughest things in the game of football is for a defense.
It back to have his back turn of the quarterback facing the receiver.
The receivers got everything in his in his on his side of, you know, table.
He's got view of the quarterback view of the ball, you know, and you know.
So he was 50 50 catches.
I thought those guys did an excellent job of in the game against Southern Miss.
And so that's big, You know, You, you know, they throw up six of them and they win three.
Those air, three huge place, you know.
So we got a win win more than our share on those those throw it up balls? Very.
You know, I think we got some good DBS.
I like Jalen Monroe.
He's quick as a cat.
He's played a bunch of games for us.
Very good speed he plays the ball well down the field.
Tall, longer guy, No.
You know, these guys do a good job of playing off.
We play play quite a bit of off, man, you know, with our corners.
And we'll also place impress, You know, something that we're doing a little bit different we've done in the past and, you know, so you gotta be able to do both.
I feel like last year we played a lot more press, and we're playing a lot more off man coverage this season.
And, you know, then it also gets down.
And Willie lang him.
He's another tall, long guy.
Uh, you know, they also will place a man, you know, with our safeties.
Also, Bill, they'll play, man, you gotta be able to do both, you know, be ableto place a good zone, but also be ableto place man coverage either backpedaling or catch, man.
You know, those guys have two different main techniques.
We play with them.
Well, I will be honest with you.
Yeah, I think it's gonna be a good game this Saturday with South Alabama because they're wide receivers like Tober and Wayne.
Those guys were just absolutely off the charts last week.
I'm gonna tell you that that young man told me he just absolutely just let it up in that first quarter when he just, um, ran for a 73 yard touchdown.
He just caught that ball and just ran 73 yards.
He also called a 30 when your pet So he caught.
I'm gonna tell you they're going to cut some balls.
Uh, to be honest with you.
So we're gonna have to be absolutely on our toes against these guys, because I'm gonna tell you South Alabama is no pushover.
They're absolutely no pushover.
Um, and it's not gonna be easy game, to be honest with you.
So let's go ahead and wrap this up.
We'll wrap this up for today.
