T minus 40 seconds.
T minus 30 seconds.
T minus 20 seconds.
10 9876543210 Yeah! What's going on, everybody? This is rare Out and welcome to this version of DPM commentary where I am flying solo tonight.
Unfortunately, my boy, Connor Carney, is feeling under the weather and he will not be joining us.
He called me this afternoon.
Said he had to leave his other job, go home and rest.
So we say rest up.
But he agreed to come on this Sunday with him.
And I will break down the Patriots game after they.
You know, Let's face it, defeat the Miami Dolphins.
So, what's going? Everybody, Thank you for tuning in.
So the show may not go a long as it normally does.
We'll have to see tonight we're gonna be talking about three different subjects.
We're gonna be looking at Devin asi asi and why? He is a true tight end.
And we're also gonna look at four bold predictions for the New England Patriots this year.
And I'm gonna give you guys my week One predictions for all the games that we're going to, uh, that we're going to see happening.
Uh, this this this week.
So as we know as we got right now, the Houston Texans are leading the Kansas City Chiefs seven to nothing, but Kansas City has the ball on the five yard line on the first and goal, and they just completed a pass to Kelsey.
But it looks like he lost the yard.
Let's see if they can hold up tackle made by read eso.
I do have one eye on the game as I do.
I'm just guys, I'm so jacked that football is back.
Um, always, always exciting.
I hope you guys all caught my pregame over on the Ray Route channel as I broke down this game.
I both why did about 20 minutes on my own? Hopefully in the next few weeks, I'll have some boys with me helping me out on there as my SportsCastr News Things have changed.
Mahomes on second goal, rolls out to throw the ball, throws it in the end zone incomplete.
That's gonna bring up third and goal that was attended for Robinson.
Good coverage, good pressure by Houston.
I'll get into our first story of the day on Devon Asi Asi As soon as this drive is over and let's see if Houston can hold up.
I will not be doing play by play the whole game or as some of you know what played by Ray.
But I am going thio.
I can't not talk about what's happening in the game right now.
Third and goal on the six yard line.
Mahomes in the shotgun.
He's got a running back out to his last.
Kelsey goes in motion. There's the snap.
Mahomes to throw in the end zone, caught Travis Kelsey Touchdown.
And they're an extra point away from making this game 77 as they marched the ball down the field.
11 yards, 75 plays in five minutes and 41 seconds.
So after a good defensive stance, the last possession Kansas City moves the ball very, very well in 11 plays and get to touch down.
All right, so let's talk about our New England Patriots now.
This is a story that came out from Henry McCann in.
It's called Why Devon Asi Asi is a true tight end and how that will lead to immediate success with the Patriots.
I'm gonna go through the article as always, and then I'll give you my opinion at the end.
U C l A Tight Ends coach Derek Sage.
Never waste money on the NFL Sunday ticket, A TV service that allows people to watch out of network games as much a stage loves football.
He doesn't have timeto watch pro games on Sundays.
He's generally working on U.
A s next opponent for the following week, but this year is different.
He's getting the Sunday ticket because of tight end Devin Asi Asi, who may be sitting atop the New England Patriots depth chart at this position.
And before I go any further, I do want to say that I'm just and I've been I've been a big, big proponent of this and I've been saying it for a long time.
The Patriots tight end situation is a million times better than it was last season, and we haven't even seen Dalton Keen or Devon Ozzie Ozzie take a snap in the NFL.
Uh, there's a lot of people who I think, you know.
A lot of people are down on this Patriots team, but I also believe that that's a situation where they're not completely up to date with what's going on with New England and they kinda they cover other teams where they cover themselves.
I got into a big debate last night on Ah podcast doing Wednesday nights on the N F P, the Joe New Beau podcast, and I put $1000 down that the Patriots would win more than eight games because I think that's what they were trying to tell me that the page is really gonna win eight games this year, and I offered to put $1000 bet down.
They win more than eight games.
I put 500 that they win more than 10.
Or they win 10 plus because I believe the Patriots or 10 11 12 wind team, but anyways, definitely ASEAN.
Dalton Keen, I mean, are such an improvement over Ben Watson and Matt Lacoste and the way Ryan is always last season.
Now Ryan is oh, did make.
The team is the third tight end, which surprised me.
I thought maybe Matt Lacoste would get there, but we're going to see how the three of them got out.
But let's continue on with this article here and I'm gonna kind of skipped through sage wanting to watch this thing.
Eso goes Ozzie Ozzie, floated to the top of the Patriots depth chart after joining New England, is a third round draft choice.
The Patriots also drafted Virginia Tech tight end Dalton Keen in the third round this year.
Their skill set should complement each other with Ozzy.
Ozzy s translating more naturally to the NFL game.
Why? Well, stage calls.
A quote, true tight end saying quote.
We truly believe that he is a true 50 50 tight end stage.
Says he's efficient in the past game as he is in the run game, and I think that's what was really what you saw at U C L. A.
It was ac***ulation.
It was the tight end position.
It was in line play.
It was stretching the field vertically from the in line spot.
It was flexing him out wide.
It was throwing them option routes from the in line spot to the wide out spot.
It was blocking the defensive ends.
I just think it was true.
Tight end plate.
Now, guys, before I go on, let me let me talk on that for a little bit.
I'm not saying that Devon at CRC is Rob Gronkowski or he's gonna be a good as Rob Gronkowski.
That'd be just sort of a crazy compares in To Make Grand Could go down Is gonna go down is probably the greatest tight end of all time.
But one thing I think that a lot of us missed.
I'm gonna say that even as much as I watch New England Patriots up until about 2017 it really didn't dawn on me.
Just how well Devin are Drop Gronkowski blocked and it became evident.
And it became the most evident to me when they played Houston.
I think like Week three in the 2017 season and the entire game was Gronkowski verse J.
It was just a complete heavyweight bouts and Grant got the better of him.
And then in 2018 when he was injured and wasn't the greatest of passers, we just saw Absolutely, um, how effective he was in the passing game and really, how him and Devlin really opened it up for Sony Michelle.
So if a COC could replicate even half of what Gronkowski could do week, see why the Patriots would be so excited to have a guy like him in the lineup now, the article continues.
Asea sees versatility is surely what appealed to the Patriots in a draft where they seem to prioritize just that.
New England drafted two linebackers who could play inside and outside.
It drafted Keen, who can play full back in H back on top of the tight, his tight end duties and the Patriots selected two offensive linemen who could play multiple position.
Asi Asi fell into the category of standard pro style tight end, but that doesn't mean he's not versatile.
He can certainly be multiple in the New England offense.
I think he was the best blocking tight end in the draft, stage said.
He was the most complete 50 50 tight end.
That was as injury Freas a tight end, could get.
He can stretch the field vertically in the passing game, and you can put the face in the fire as a blocker with some defensive ends and really given the Patriots uh, what they're looking for.
Now blocking isn't the most watchable element of football, but those fundamentals are often what appeal the most.
Bill Belichick, who spent a long phone call talking U C L A coach Chip Kelly Ah, longstanding friend of Bill Belichick before drafting Aussie Aussie.
The tight end has a few ties to the team, including Julian Edelman, who met Aussie Aussie through San Mateo coach Tim Talaq, Sage things that Edelman is the perfect veteran match for Asi Asi Ah player who was suspended for three games in 2018 and whose sage said needs structure, quote toe, walk into a situation to have a leader, ah, mentor, an older brother figure in the organization to kind of say, Hey, young Buck, let's be out there at this time for practice.
Oh, hey, let's get that rehab a pre have before the practice today.
Let's get those 30 balls in, Sage said.
End quote asi asi asi Aziz Rise didn't happen instantly.
He was buried on the depth chart at Michigan before he transferred to U. C. L.
A. Where he was buried on the depth chart again.
It wasn't until 2019 that he finally put up solid statistics.
44 catches for 641 yards and three touchdowns and he caught the NFL's eyes, Belichick seems ready to entrust an end and trust.
I guess I should say Ozzie Ozzie into a big duty tight end one.
We haven't seen Belichick do that with the rookie tight end since Rob Gronkowski.
Perhaps that in part because New England has solely been lacking in talent at the position since Gronk.
But perhaps that's also a showing of the faith that the Patriots have in Aussie Aussie.
Now I want to continue on with that a little bit because one of the big knocks on Belichick last year is that he did not prepare for the tight end situation in New England.
There was a lot of talk about how he wasn't hey just solely relied on.
Gronkowski had never really made that proper transition.
Never really kind of found that replacement.
But at the end of the day, Gronkowski was 30 years old, and even though he flirted with retirement, did they actually believe he's going to go again after winning three Super Bowls? Well, technically, too, because he didn't really earn his second Super Bowl.
He sat on the field of Martellus.
Bennett was a tight end, who for half season in the entire playoff run won the Super Bowl for the Patriots.
But when we break all that kind of stuff down and we look at how that all came to be, why are you trying to replace Gronkowski, a 30 years old? Ste.
Levy? At this point, I mean, I don't see a point of continuing to to rag on that point, but now they gotta see.
Ah, see, now they got Dalton Keen, and I really they have a I'm going to call it a lesser version from a talent perspective.
But they have a version of that double headed monster again like they had with Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, Aussie Aussie obviously playing the Gronkowski role and Dalton Keane playing the Aaron Hernandez roles and playing those multiple positions now, no Tom Brady on the team this year, which could actually be helpful to these two guys.
You know, as we talked about this, that nausea.
But Brady didn't wanna work with rookies last year.
He didn't feel he needed to, and it's funny because I'm reading the dynasty by Jeff Benedict right now, and about how, like all the veterans really helped Brady is a rookie, and it's just amazing that him is a veteran kind of forgot where he came from and decided that he didn't need to help.
You didn't wanna work with rookies.
But again, say, Libby, I also think the tight ends are going to help.
Look, the receivers were really easy to cover last year because you didn't have to worry about the tight ends.
It all you didn't really even have to cover them.
You could put your worst cover guy on a tight end.
I think when with the threat of Aussie Aussie and Dalton Keen, it's gonna open up guys like Tequila, Harry and Julian Edelman.
There's definitely gonna be a dynamic to this offense.
And you've got you know, Jacoby Meyers who's coming back.
We'll see what gonna Roche s Kikkan dio.
And then you got Cam Newton, who is going to be trying to prove a You know, a lot to this team.
So I'm really happy with what I'm seeing from Asea.
See what I'm hearing about him again.
We'll find out on Sunday just exactly how ready he is to be in the NFL.
Alright, guys, in just a quick update in the Houston Kansas City game.
The game is still tied.
77 Well, I was breaking down this story.
Houston punted the ball away and my home was back on the field.
He just completed a pass to Travis Kelsey.
I'll call this drive, and then we'll get back to the Patriots stories after Mahomes just in the shotgun.
On second five, he's gonna hand the ball off.
It's gonna get run up the middle and they're gonna go on past the 20 yards about the 23 yard line for a first down.
It's gonna be up 1st and 10 for Kansas City.
There's 10 minutes and 40 seconds left in the second quarter.
Houston In Kansas City, you're tied 7 to 7.
And it's gonna be interesting.
This game is, uh, you know, I'm a little disappointed that I have tow work while this game is on, because the first 20 minutes I got to watch this game before coming on the show.
I was really enjoying what I was seeing, but this game had, like a 50.
Right now, there's only been 14 point scored just 10 minutes left in the second quarter.
Still, lots of time left, but this is like a 53.
5 over under throw made and almost intercepted by Kansas City.
Dropped by Murray.
That should have been a Houston Texans interception.
Terrible throw by Patrick Mahomes.
It's gonna bring up 2nd and 10 from their own 23 yard line.
My home was coming out of the shotgun, looked up the middle and just completely overthrew Tyree.
Kill and Murray, who had just a beautiful opportunity to intercept that ball, lost it.
They're gonna hand the ball off.
He's gonna bounce to the outside.
He's gonna run it in a great about 9.
5 yard run that's gonna bring up third in inches.
Houston was not prepared for that run.
Third down and inches.
I don't think that they're in four down territory.
Held onto that football good run by the rookie.
And let's see what Kansas City has now.
My home is gonna start in the shotgun, got lots of options.
You can run our Pos.
You can run zone options, the Texans playing almost everybody to the line with one safety back, they will hand off the ball easily, picks up.
A first down is he ran it for almost like 10 yards on that throw or on that past 1st and 10 four.
Kansas City, 9 11 left in the second quarter, 77 here on the first game of the season.
Very, very excited about football being back.
You know, there was a lot of us who were very concerned about whether or not football would return or not.
And I'm just thrilled that they're back.
Um, with the whole covert pandemic and that kind of thing.
Great run Kansas City on their own 40 yard line 1st and 10.
A toss over back to the rookie.
He's gonna come around the side.
He's gonna pick up five yards on that play, is gonna bring up second and five for Kansas City.
Look, man, it looks like Kansas City is adding a new dynamic to their offense.
They actually have a run game.
Eric Benet me making the calls for the offense, and they actually have a running game.
And poor Andy Reid is wearing a face shield, and it is just covered with with condensation.
They need to get him some anti fogger second and four Mahomes to throw out of the shotgun, tosses, catch made and reaches forward for a first down.
Good run. Good jump there by Robinson.
But let's give it to Clyde Edwards. Hilaire.
I mean, he's running the ball very effectively right now.
They didn't spot him.
They spotted him short of the first down.
I thought he reached out and got it.
Third and one very close to the 50 yard line.
Let's see what Kansas City has up their sleeves.
I mean, they've hand, they handed the ball off a couple of times here, and they've gotten good runs.
Mahomes trying to run something here looks like some confusion in the huddle.
Still, 18 seconds on the shot clock.
Could should be able to get out 7 35 left here in the second quarter. Tie.
Houston scored forest.
Kansas City responded, and after a point here on about the 49 yard line Kansas City No, they did give him the first down, its 1st and 10 from their own 49.
That looked like an early jump by Houston.
They blew it dead pretty quickly, but that looked like a neutral zone infractions.
I saw an early jump coming on the right side.
Referees are huddling up in conferring where they draw.
Nor was it an early jump.
Let's see what happened here.
Offside neutral zone infraction on Houston.
That's going to push Kansas City up the field.
And it was on J. J. Watt.
Oh, yeah, very early.
He was already passed the center before the ball was snapped and Patrick Mahomes just ran for his life and through the football away, he was gonna get slaughtered first and five here, handoff to Hilaire.
He's gonna pick up the first down.
He picked about eight yards on that run.
Holy moly, they got a running back.
It's almost reminded me of the Kareem Hunt days in Kansas City, and that brings a brand new dynamic to the Chiefs offense.
People were wondering I was gonna do in the passing game.
That's what they thought he was brought in for.
But he is just showing great runs here, and it's not great offensive line work.
It's just great vision on his sense.
1st and 10 at about 38 yard line of Houston, Snap tossed the whole air again.
He's gonna bring it up he's going to run it.
He's gonna pick up about seven yards, seven or eight yards on that run second down.
I mean, the run game is killing Houston right now.
And what world did we think that we'd be coming into a game? Kansas City Chiefs first, the Houston Texans talking about the run game, hurting the Texans.
But I think the thing is, is Houston was preparing fourth of the passing presence of Patrick Mahomes, and now because of that, they're being able to run the ball.
Second to was an eight yard run.
They got a man in motion, will hand the ball off the hill air again.
He's gonna put it up.
The gut is enough for a first down close to that 25 yard line.
Still 77 trying to pick up the stats here.
The current stats for this scheme.
Chiefs. There we go.
Edwards has eight carries for 57 yards, averaging 7.
1 yards per carry.
I mean, mm, Darryl Williams has to for eight yards.
I mean, that's like, Wow, that's just a new dynamic for Kansas City.
The teams are gonna have to compete with now another hand off this time goes off to, um, the other guy goes off the Williams.
He only picks up a couple of yards.
That's gonna bring up second down, 508 left here in the second in the second quarter, the Ken City Chiefs have bled more than 10 minutes off this clock.
We will be getting to four bold predictions for the New England Patriots here in just a minute.
No matter what happens, we will go back to the Patriots show Snap, toss over to the right side.
It looks like it's a Sammy Watkins.
He's gonna fall about four yards short.
That's gonna bring up third down.
No, Kansas City is in field goal range, but you know that this team is just hoping for touchdown after touchdown after touchdown.
Let's see what happens here.
Kansas City, 4 27 left here in the second quarter, third and three for the Kansas City Chiefs.
J J Watt Bit almost got my homes.
Took him to the ground, kind of late on the top.
Sammy Watkins got it has just passed the 20 yard line there on the 21 3rd and three Mahomes in the shotgun.
Tyree kill his emotion.
Looks like he's got Williams beside him.
Throws the ball over.
Received by Robinson, stays on his feet.
Gets to about the 11 yard line first down Kansas City.
And it's funny Robinson's been getting a lot of looks is well for this Chiefs team.
Just gonna reset here so I can keep the updated stats.
Kansas City is a first down inside the 10 yard line.
Oh, no, they're on the 11 1st on our on the 11th and goal.
Mahomes to throw catch made Sammy Watkins close to the touchdown.
They give it to him. Touchdown.
It looked like he fell early, but he wasn't touched.
Just want to see the replay, but that should make it 13 to 7 for the Kansas City Chiefs with three minutes and 18 seconds left here in the second quarter.
Again, they had a high corner zone read.
You think he's playing his own game and it's killing them.
It's leaving guys like walk ins wide open, and then he's gonna use his speed in his length and he dives and he's going to fall short of the end zone he was touched, the elbow was down.
That should bring up second and goal from the half a yard mark.
That shouldn't be a touchdown.
The play is under review and I can't kill time.
I'm gonna have to go right into the Yeah, I'm gonna have to go into my next story here.
You guys can watch the game, though.
You don't have to rely on me to get what to get what I'm talking about here.
Let's talk about four bold predictions for the Patriots 2020 season Now.
This originally came from patriots, where they had 11 bold predictions.
I read through it.
Some of them I thought were stupid.
Some of them, I thought were okay.
I picked four that I really like that.
I'm gonna make them my predictions as well.
Let's start with the first one of the first one is Nikkila.
Harry will finish the season with at least 700 receiving yards now.
Last season, the Patriots stocked up on receiving talent, which all failed even after drafting to kill Harry in the first round.
This year, the pressure is on Harry, who is the second receiver on the depth chart and will need to be instrumental in New England if Cam Newton is to experience a bounce back year.
While 700 yards doesn't seem like much, you have to consider two things. First.
He just had 100 yards last year.
Second, I'm guessing the Patriots will Onley play 13 games.
Oh, sorry, because he said, the Patriots won 13 games because of co vid.
So 700 yards should be a sizable improvement.
If the Patriots play 16 games all boldly predict that Harry gets 900 yards 900 yards.
She's gonna predict at least 700.
I'm happy to 700.
Um, listen, I think tequila Harry is gonna play much better this season.
And if anybody is scoffing at 700 yards, I mean, we're talking about ah, fan base that cheered on Danny Amendola that I was, like, 500 yards per season and were heartbroken when he left the team.
So you should be happy with 700 receiving yards from the keel, Harry.
Right? Otherwise, you're just hypocrites or you know nothing about football.
If I offended you, I'm sorry.
Turn it off. Don't watch me anymore. I don't care.
But you know what again? I think that Nikkila Harry is going to be much improved because off is gonna be much improved because of the tight end situation.
Because of Cam Newton.
Cam Newton has been working and connecting with Nikkila.
Harry, something Tom Brady didn't even attempt.
I know we had him out for a throwing session and put it on instagram Great PR move by t b 12.
Like I said, there's a difference between Tom Brady and T B 12 and since 2000 and 17 we have been dealing with T B 12 and he brought out Harry just to do an instagram post.
Didn't wanna work with him throughout the season, is what it is on that.
But I think with with everything around them, with the improved running game we're expecting, with the offensive line being relatively healthy and intact minus Marcus Cannon, I think they can survive losing Marcus Cannon.
And with everything happening there, McKeel Harry should be a very, very improved player.
Could be the most bounced back player on the Patriots this season.
He's also gonna have an opportunity to play the entire season, unlike he did last year when he missed the first eight games of the year.
Let's see what the connection looks like between him and Newton.
They didn't get any preseason games together, but how important is that really so? First prediction to Kill Harry will finish with 700 receiving yards at a minimum.
Next, Josh UCI will match Kyle Van Noy stats from 2019.
Kyle Van Noy finished the 2019 season with 56 tackles, 6.
5 sacks and 15 quarterback hits in three forced fumbles.
UK figures to play both inside and outside linebacker and will likely match those stats even in a shortened season.
It may not be enough to win the defensive rookie of the year, but it should be a very impressive season now.
I got into a heated debate over our linebackers last night.
Number one Joshua K has the ability to play both inside and outside, which is gonna be important because I still think the weak point of this Patriots defense is the middle line back in situation.
But you have chase win a ***** that can play the outside you have.
Surely Kalume, that can play the outside.
You can put a check in the middle.
I fully understand that the Patriots lost Kyle Van Noy.
Ah landed Roberts and Jamie Collins and free agency.
The bigger hit in the most crucial hit to the whole covert thing was losing Dont'a Hightower in the middle.
You're a hoping that you want.
Bentley has a bounce back season and be Luce turns out to be the player that he should be.
If that's the case, I'm still with the secondary and at this middle linebacking corps can hold up.
I'm still predicting that the Patriots have a top five defense.
I'm a little bit worried about the defensive line.
Yes, the front seven is not as intimidating as it was last season.
There's probably nothing intimidating about this Patriots team.
I mean, do they even have a kicker yet? But with that being said, I think that they should be just fine.
I've already made my ball take that.
I believe the Patriots or a minimum 10 win team could be a 12 1 team and on top of all that, so I'm not gonna make that a part of my bull takes.
But on top of all that, I think it's gonna come down to this defense, and I think this offense could be a lot better.
And because of that, my third ball take of the year is that Bill Belichick will win Coach of the year.
Now this roster is not particularly talented.
The linebacker group is depleted from free agency and opt outs in the offensive.
Skill players are young and unproven players.
It's running backs Tony Michelle coming off a 2019.
7 yards per carry.
Receivers Julian Edelman and Nikkila Harry and tight end Devon Asi Asi Newton at a messy 2019 season.
If the Patriots do make the playoffs, it will be a testament to the coaches excellence.
Now McKenna, who wrote that bold prediction that I agreed with, I didn't like the way he just discounts his players, the team's talent and my homer.
Maybe maybe I'm a little bit too optimistic about what this team could be, But Bill Belichick should have won coach of the year in 2018 on a team that I didn't find overly talented.
I mean, the team last year was way more talented than 2018.
Just Tom Brady played better in 2018 and Sony.
Michelle played a hell of a lot better than Tom Brady did in 2018 and that's why the Patriots were good in 2018.
But, I mean, there's been years after year after year after year where Belichick is even considered, because the guys who win coach of the year are guys who take bad teams and get them to the promised land.
Well, if everybody really believes that the Patriots are this bad, then I'm excited and embracing that.
New England is going to make the playoffs when the division and give Bill Belichick that got that that piece.
Now my final prediction is this.
Cam Newton signed a one year basically veterans minimum contract incentive heavy contract with the Patriots.
He is going to sign a contract extension after this season finishes.
That's my biggest, boldest prediction there is.
Here's what McKenna wrote about it, he said when he signed with the Patriots on a one year prove a deal, it seemed like Newton was destined to leave New England free agency in 2021 but few teams have is much spending money is the Patriots.
Next year, it's a salary cap decreases for the first time in a decade, it will put teams in a bind.
Free agency will be a tough market, and Newton may not have many or any suitors.
I think he and Belichick will have enough success to want to continue to work together, and they may just make it to a Super Bowl in 2021.
Now 2020 could turn out to be a frustrating season for Patriots fans.
As I am for this team, I am worried about some things again, that middle line back in court.
Can the receivers get it together? Yeah, but first of all, I haven't seen Bill Belichick this happy since 2000 and five.
Just like Brady's so happy and Tampa Bay, it's like the two of them needed to get away from each other.
Cam Newton seems to be on Cloud nine in New England.
Why wouldn't you be? With the amount of money that the Patriots get to spend in 2021 you can keep Newton.
You can add to the roster.
You can bring in some more weapons.
This Patriots rebuild is never gonna happen.
I mean, I keep waiting for this.
I guess technically the Patriots and the Rebuild this season, and they could still be competitive enough to make the playoffs.
I don't have aspirations for the Super Bowl this year, by the way, either.
So if you're sitting here with taking my confidence as the Patriots gonna win the Super Bowl, you're not reading between the lines properly enough.
So maybe I should just come out and say it.
The Patriots are not gonna win the Super Bowl this year, but I do believe they could make the playoffs.
That should be the goal for this team.
This roster and coaching staff is talented enough for the New England Patriots to go to the playoffs.
And if they make the playoffs, I believe that we should be happy with this season because in a year that to rebuild for the Patriots, they went to the mother effin playoffs and then you resign Cam Newton and everything is good.
So, out of the 11 bold predictions I read today, those four were the ones that stood out to me.
Those are my four bold predictions for this season.
Cam Newton resigns.
Bill Belichick, winds Coach of the year UK, impresses the heck out of us and the keel.
Harry finally looks like that.
Number one pick for the Patriots.
Just update everybody.
There's a minute 26 left here in the first half, Kansas City did end up scoring their leading Houston, 14 to 7.
I will call the final minute in 26 seconds, and then I will give you my picks for the week one of the NFL football's back baby.
Hopefully, everybody stays healthy.
I mean, from co vid, and we get an entire season of playoffs and a Super Bowl minute.
26 minute, 26 Here.
Houston has it on their own 32 yard line.
Houston has two time outs.
Watson is in the shotgun, takes the snap.
Kansas City, putting the pressure on, gets open over the top.
Good defense by Kansas City and double coverage is he tried to find Brandon Cooks 2nd and 10 minute, 20 left here in the 1st 1st half, 21 points scored between both teams so far.
I think some of us were expecting that could have been 21 21 or 21 14 going into the half.
The first quarter was a little quiet opened up a little bit.
Here in the second is Kansas City put up two scores, well, one in the first one in the second, but it's still only a 14 to 7 game first game of the year.
Watching in the shotgun second or 27 seconds on the on the shot clock, 1 20 left in the first half.
Watson takes the snap in the pocket, moves to his right, dumps it off, caught made by Johnson.
Johnson gets to the first down and out of balance to stop the clock first in 10.
Houston used to keep the two timeouts, 1 11 left here in the half.
Shawn Watson calling plays and Tyronn Math.
You came all the way over to the left side, which kept Johnson wide open in the middle of the field.
Could not recover 1st and 10 here.
Watson's back in the shotgun just on the 447 he's gonna throw.
He's gonna step up under pressure, incomplete pass in the direction of Brandon cooks.
Watson did get hit after the throw, but he did get rid of the football.
Brings up 2nd and 10 107 left here in the first half.
I hope that everybody is enjoying this addition of DPM commentary as mentioned before Connor is under the weather.
Paxon's asking, Um, I'm gonna call the Pats games this year.
The only reason I'm calling this game is because I'm just doing it in between plays.
There will be no play by play this year.
I will be doing pre games for SportsCastr news.
Watson throws the ball catch made by the tight end, gets up, gets to the Kansas City 33 yard line 1st and 10.
And no, I will not be doing play by play this year.
I enjoyed it last year, but from a time perspective can't do it.
Houston goes no huddle.
Watson all the way over in complete 42 seconds left.
I made from time to time.
If I'm not doing anything, do some play by play.
Just have a little bit of fun.
But I will not be on a regular Sunday schedule doing play by play.
I'm committed to SportsCastr to do a 10 a.
show on Sundays on the Railroad Channel where I do, uh, we do sort of my predictions and cover all the games that are happening that week.
I will also be doing a pre game show for Sunday Night Football.
Watson, here 42 seconds on on their own on the 35 yard line in the shotgun, takes the snap second in town.
Watson, in trouble, avoids the tackle, dumps it over incomplete in the direction of his running back.
Nobody opened pressure everywhere.
3rd and 10 36 left.
Seconds left here in the first half.
Thank you, everybody tuning into this DPM commentary.
Show me all by myself tonight.
Corner is feeling under the weather.
Get better corners soon.
So far, we've talked about Devon.
We've talked about my four bold prediction for the Patriots 2020 season, and as soon as this first half is over, we will be talking about my predictions for Week one.
Watson in the shotgun, 36 seconds left, 3rd and 10 on the 35 yard line in Kansas City.
Watson over incompletes intended for Fuller, overthrown by three yards, brings up 4th and 10 with 30 seconds left.
I mean, tight, tight, tight, tight coverage here by Kansas City.
Good defense pressure on Watson the whole way down.
He was able to move the ball all the way down.
Kicker comes in for a 51 yard field goal attempt with 30 seconds left in the half, lining it up.
Snap hold is good.
Kick is wide, right? No goods in Kansas City will head into halftime with a seven point lead.
Right? And hopefully the snap was there.
The hold was good.
The kick was just pulled.
Fair Barn just pulls it to the rights.
All right, ladies and gentlemen, it is now time for me to get into my week.
One predictions for all the games.
Now, for those of you who did see the show with me and Joe last night, I did have Kansas City winning this game over the Houston Texans.
So let's go through this one.
The Seattle Seahawks take on the Atlanta Falcons.
I know that some people believe that Atlanta is a better team this year, but they lost Austin Hooper.
Couple of you know, they got Julio Jones like a cloud while they got some good players.
But I still see Seattle as the more dominant team.
One of the elite teams in the league.
I have Seattle beating Atlanta, the bottom dwellers of not just the A F C East, but the bottom dwellers of the NFL.
The New York Jets will be heading to Buffalo to take on the Buffalo Bills.
Buffalo Bills could be one of the more talented teams in the NFL this season.
It's all gonna come down to Josh Allen and his consistency.
Regardless, with that great defense, that great offense, the Buffalo Bills will wipe the floor with the New York Jets.
Then you got a tough game.
You got to Chicago Bears in that defense with Mitchell.
True, Biscay has the starting quarterback heading over to face the Detroit Lions, or some people might know them to Detroit Patriots.
Detroit sign Jamie Collins this year.
They also brought in trey flowers last year.
They have Danny Amendola traded for Deron Harmon.
A lot of familiar faces from Matt Patricia toe work with map.
Patricia and Quinn there gm on the hot seat.
I have predicted and bet Joe New Bow that Detroit will make the playoffs this year and it's going to start with a week one win against the Chicago Bears.
Then you got the Cleveland Browns versus the Baltimore Ravens.
Now the Cleveland Browns should be the second best team in the N F in the A F C over the Kansas City Chiefs.
It should be the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns.
Ken Kevin Stefanski Bring them together.
Can they upset Baltimore in this? A f C North Division game, a division that I predict three teams could come out of for the playoffs.
I so badly want to pick the upset and take Cleveland in Austin, Hooper and Baker, Mayfield, Odell Beckham, Jr.
Nick Chubb, Jarvis, Landry.
I gotta go with Lamar Jackson to the Baltimore Ravens.
Now another Division games sees the Green Bay Packers taking on the Minnesota Vikings.
Both teams have their issues, and some of them are a lot.
But I still think that Aaron Rodgers is better than Kirk Cousins, and that's what it's gonna come down to.
I think the Green Bay running game is gonna be improved this year.
I got Green Bay winning that game.
Yeah, now this is one of those easy picks the Indianapolis Colts take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Annapolis.
Culture will be a lot better than a lot of people think.
And I'm gonna give this game to Indianapolis. Easy.
And then Las Vegas travels to face the Carolina Panthers, led by Teddy Bridgewater and Christian McCaffrey, the best running back in the NFL.
And I'm not sure if this is considered an upset or what, but I'm looking at the Carolina Panthers to upset the Las Vegas Raiders.
I think that Gruden actually wanted to start Mariota.
But the injury hurt them and I got Carolina went in this game.
And then, of course, you got the Miami Dolphins traveling to New England to take on Cam Newton, Bill Belichick and the rest of that Patriots team on.
I know a lot of people want to say it's the Miami Dolphins, they're gonna win that game.
But I can't bet against my New England Patriots this week.
I have New England beating Miami.
The Philadelphia Eagles, who could be good enough to win the NFC East if the Dallas Cowboys can't seem to bring it together under Mike McCarthy, are facing the Washington football team and even though they're littered with talented Ohio State football players.
I just don't know if they can.
No, I don't know. Philadelphia's gonna kill Washington.
I was trying to make that.
I was trying to make it like maybe I'm going the other way.
But Philly's gonna just destroy Washington Los Angeles Chargers, led by Tyrod Taylor.
It's gonna be facing Joe Burrow, the rookie coming out of coming, uh, L s U Presents a natty.
Now, I have said told many of people, I believe that Joe Burrow has bust material all over him.
This game is not going to determine if he's a bust or not, but the charges were still gonna win this game.
And then you got the top of Bay Gronk a nears facing off against the New Orleans Saints in New Orleans.
The drunken ears believe that they are good enough to win the division.
A handful or a truckload, I should say of so called Patriot fans have jumped ship and followed t B 12.
Tom Brady no longer exists, but his alter ego of arrogance and whining nous t b 12.
But I got a New Orleans beating them.
I think that Tampa's gonna start slow.
I think that New Orleans is a MAWR steady team, and I think when you compare offense and defense arm or complete team, I've got New Orleans beating the Tampa Bay drunken ears and then a really interesting game.
You get the Arizona Cardinals versus San Francisco 40 Niners now.
Yes, I believe the San Francisco 40 Niners are going to win the game.
But Kyler Murray, DeAndre, Hopkins, Larry Fitzgerald and improved defense the offensive line still an issue for Arizona.
I'm a big, big, big fan.
They're of Kyler Murray.
Now I am taking the 40 Niners.
But if there was an upset, it could be this game and it could be Arizona.
Now the Dallas Cowboys Air facing off against the Los Angeles Rams.
And I'm calling the upset on this game, and I am taking the Rams over the Cowboys.
I think the Rams have a lot to prove, and I think Dallas is, you know, originally, I was gonna take the Dallas Cowboys, and last night I talked myself out of it when I made these pics a lot of turmoil with Dak Prescott.
Yes, he is faced going for a contract.
Yes, they should be the better team.
But the Rams have a top notch defense.
They with Donald and Jalen Ramsey.
What congested golf do We'll have to see.
We got one of the better Defense is facing off against one of the best offenses on paper, But I'm still gonna go with Los Angeles Rams, especially with the travel to Los Angeles.
And then on Monday Night Football, you got back to back games.
You got the Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the New York Giants.
This game isn't even in question.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will go.
Want to know The New York Giants are not ready yet, but Joe judges.
Giants could be better and ready in the next year or two.
I will put that out loud and then the final game of the week starts at 10 10 after the Pittsburgh New York game, and it's a Tennessee Titans visiting the Denver Broncos.
Prior to the Von Miller injury, I probably would have taken Denver, but I believe that Denver is gonna have a tough time stopping Derrick Henry.
I do not predict that the Titans, I predicted.
I mean, that the Titans are not gonna make the playoffs is here.
They had their Cinderella run.
I know they got your Davian Clowney, but I had Denver as the most.
My prediction is the most improved team of the year.
Unfortunately, I cannot do that now.
They should still be good.
Young quarterback, experienced defense.
But one of your leaders and captains are gone.
I'm going with the Tennessee Titans, so those are my picks of the week.
I pick the Kansas City Chiefs to beat the Houston Texans.
I'm gonna take Seattle to beat Atlanta.
The Bills to beat the Jets.
I'm gonna take Detroit to beat the Bears.
I got Baltimore beating Cleveland.
I've got the Packers beating the Vikings.
I've got the Colts mopping the floor with the Jaguars.
I got the Panthers beating the Raiders and an upset.
I got the Patriots beating Miami.
I've got the Eagles beating Washington.
I've got the Chargers beating Joe Burrow in his game.
I got what some people may season upset, but I don't the New Orleans Saints beating the Tampa Bay Gronk in years.
I've got San Francisco beating Arizona.
I've got the Rams upsetting the Dallas Cowboys.
I got the Steelers beating the Giants and the Titans beating the Denver Broncos.
Thank you, everybody, for tuning into this show today.
Uh, Connor feel better, my friend.
And this wasn't a last minute thing and him pulling wool over my eyes.
Connor called me early in the day to let me know that he wouldn't be on this show and I would be following.
I would be flying solo tonight.
Connor has agreed to join me on Sunday to make up for today.
So we will be breaking down.
The Patriots win over Miami.
And I have no problem saying that we will be breaking down the Patriots win over Miami.
Thank you to everybody who tuned into the show.
Thank everybody who enjoyed a little bit of play by play. I did.
For those of you who are asking, I will not be doing play by Ray or play by play Whatever you wanna call it this season for the Patriots, I May it do the occasional game just for fun, but you can catch me on my affiliate channel.
