What? Okay, we are live.
Hopefully you see all of us.
Here I am Zack Bruner.
Luke with me again.
He was your last name.
Kevin, author of the start.
Sit artifical is here.
Hopefully you seem I do not.
He's going to be taking us through our his starts for week one.
We will be talking about it quickly.
Normally show on Thursday before chaos will be a little bit longer.
Had a little bit of scheduling difficulties.
But, Kevin Good article, obviously for week one.
Definitely a fun one to write for week one with a lot of uncer*****y.
Who is your top start overall, We'll go by possession.
Uh, position eventually.
But overall, who was your favorite one to write up? Yeah.
So I have to say, uh, just strolling through the article right now.
Favorite, uh, I want to write up.
I I really I think Tyrod Taylor, uh, is really set for Ah, a nice week.
If you held off on quarterback and are looking for a streamer, I think Tyrod Taylor is gonna have ah, pretty solid week.
He provides a nice floor with rushing yardage, and then he's surrounded by more weapons than he's ever had, uh, in any of his previous career stops, Uh, and he's got the ability Thio dump it off to Keenan Allen Austin, eh, Claire Hunter Henry on then a couple shots for Mike Williams there as well As long as, uh um, he's okay for which I think he had a injury status going on, but, um, so he's got weapons surrounding him on the Bengals defense is, uh, not not very impressive.
So I think he's set up for Ah, he should be a top 12 quarterback, I think this week for ah, pretty good price and D efs and, uh, a nice starter and, uh, and, uh, season long.
I'm glad you brought up d efs.
I think it goes under the radar.
How important he starts it.
Articles can be for D efs.
I mean, sometimes you don't have a choice.
When you look at start sitting like Oh, God, my guys, uh, sit.
You know, um, I got to see him for some guy on the waiver wire.
No, but for DFS, this could be huge.
And Tyra, the guy own a lot of anyway, But for DFS, one of my favorite place for sure.
Do you feel the same? Yeah, I do feel the same.
And I know we kind of talked about him last night a little bit, but I've always said that having the robbing abilities, a quarterback, your fantasy football was insanely big, you know, to get 50 yards and maybe a touchdown.
That adds another five toe, you know, 12 points for you.
So especially against the Bengals defense.
With a rookie quarterback who has never played in the NFL before, That might be a big often today for the Chargers.
It certainly looks like it should be in.
The spread is still just three points.
So I guess it could be a competitive game is well with which only benefits Tyrod, um, taking us through.
The other start at quarterback was Gardner Minshew against the Colts. Sit.
Kevin has Jimmy Garoppolo versus the Cardinals and Matthew Stafford versus the Bears.
So for the Cardinals, what is it that you're kind of shying away from? Jimmy Garoppolo? Kevin? Yeah, this one's, uh, one that when you look at the stats from last year, Jimmy actually had two very good games against the Cardinals.
But it's a different team this year you're looking at, uh, last year it was most erred.
And Tevin Coleman, primarily Tevin Coleman, was leading Russia against, uh, the Cardinals.
But this year, now you have McKinnon in there.
So you have three running backs.
Uh, and, uh, as far as weapons this year for Garoppolo Uh, Deebo.
Samuel is sounding like he might play kind of game time decision, but he's coming off a, uh, foot injury.
And those are never good for wide receivers.
Uh, you've got Brandon I oak.
I think I'm saying that right on.
Uh, you know, probably getting covered by Patrick Peterson s.
Oh, really? George Kittel, uh, should be set for a nice game.
Arizona usually gives up massive chunk plays to tight end.
So but aside from that, I'm I'm just seeing San Francisco wanting to run the ball, you know, probably at least 55% of the time this game.
And I could see Garoppolo not having to throw much and and not having, ah, a lot of plays or opportunities to really produce.
Luke, are you on the same side as cabin for this one? I am.
I feel, you know, I've always thought of San Francisco's A running team, you know? And I guess Garoppolo like the value comes off of the play. Action. Maybe.
But as many running backs save in San Francisco, I think, especially in week one, there are, You know, he's gonna try to get them all in the mix, see what each one can do and see.
Like how the forecast is gonna go for the season off of that.
And this 40 Niners team is kind of built in the exact way to stop the Cardinals, in my opinion, in the way A lot of ways.
Why I hate the Cardinals this year.
They want to run really quickly on offense.
They're gonna run through their place, but I don't think they're incredibly efficient.
So they go three now.
What? I mean, 40 Niners.
They're just going to sit down around the entire game and correct, you know, 55% running.
Kevin, I think that could be low.
I think they could run 65% of the time in this game, to be completely honest.
Sure, I had a question real quick, too.
I see you got Matthew Stafford on your set.
I just would like to hear the like the behind the thoughts behind that Because I'm big on Matthew Stafford this week.
Oh, yeah, so and And don't get me wrong, I typically I like Matthew Stafford is a late round quarterback.
He's always got a nice, uh, solid.
Uh, you know, each year he seems always finished Top 12.
He's always right there.
Uh, this week, though, a few things that I not really high on him.
Number one, he's playing against the Bears.
He's had a few rough games against the Bears in, uh, I believe it was three of his last six against the Bears.
He's been under 20 points on then.
He's had a couple of really rough games.
One was 12 point some and one was 11 points against the Bears, I and then with the addition of Adrian Peterson, you got, uh, carry on, Johnson.
You got DeAndre Swift.
Now I see a similar type of scenario where, um I don't know if the Bears air gonna put up enough points that Stafford has toe go into throw mode and where they could just kind of grind the ball like they want to do with their three running back there, and I just don't think there's gonna be a lot of volume for Stafford unless the Bears can put up some points, which I'm.
I think the over under on this is 43 somewhere around in that ball park.
So I think it's going to be kind of a lower scoring, divisional, grudge match type of game.
And, yeah, I agree with that.
I don't think the lines, they're gonna blow them out where they have to sit on the run by any means.
But I could see this being very much like the Packers Bears Week one last year where it was like 10 7 or 10 3 or something.
I could see that easily happening in this game.
Let's move on to running back starts.
He has Jonathan Taylor versus the Jaguars.
James White versus the Dolphins percent.
We have D'Andre Swift that lines rookie running back against the Bears and then Ronald Jones against the Saints take us through what there is to love about Jonathan Taylor this week.
Yeah, well, I just think the match up this week is terrific.
Without any preseason to really gauge how the carries air going to shake down for Indianapolis.
I just think I'd actually be fine with starting Marlon MCAS.
Well, but Jonathan Taylor eyes more exciting of the two, even Marlon Mack has talked about how explosive he looked in camp.
Um, and the Jaguars defense last year.
I have, uh they gave up 205 yards per game on the ground, and, uh, and they've been downgraded over the off season as well.
So I just see this being an opportunity for both Mac and Taylor, too.
Pretty much run wherever they want to on the field.
Um, I said 15 carries.
Um, if he gets 15 carries, Jonathan Taylor gets 15 carries.
I think he's definitely gonna have a running back to type of day, like, especially with one of the best offensive lines in the league, too.
Definitely, completely agree.
And I think Marlon Max actually gonna have the better day.
I think he's the lead back here.
Not Jonathan Taylor quite yet, but I've written in a couple places now.
I think this is a spot where both running backs could go for over 100 yards and, yeah, the Jaguars run defense stinks.
Not just giving a big totals.
They give up over five yards.
But Rush, I think they were second worst on Lee to the Panthers last year.
James White, you have against the Dolphins.
This might be the only one I truly disagree with.
What's your thoughts on James White? Why you love them this week.
So I just think for James White, um, this is an opportunity here.
You know its first game? Uh, really, without Tom Brady at the helm there.
And, uh, we've got Sony. Michelle.
He's coming off off season foot surgery, so they're gonna probably ease him back in.
I don't see him getting a heavy workload this week.
And, uh, Cam Newton, I think I had in the article he hit, uh, in on Carolina.
He had Christian McCaffrey there, and I'm not definitely not comparing James White to Christian McCaffrey, But as far as a receiver, um, he hit him for 80 completions is, uh, McCaffrey's rookie year, and then 107 the second year, so he's definitely gonna be able to check it down to James White.
James White also has historically done pretty well against Miami.
Uh, it's gonna be a little different with Cam Newton at the helm.
But, uh, I think this game I do think this game stays competitive, and I think that they will need to include, uh, James White in some last minute drives.
So So I was I was iffy on this one.
I'm right in between.
So, Zack, I wanna hear why you might disagree with Kevin on this one.
I think this is a Sony Michelle day.
I don't think they're really gonna hold him back.
I think they feed him and they have.
I can't remember the other running back now.
It's not Rexburg.
Had someone you haven't heard off.
Uh, they're talking him up quite a bit this week.
I think he's going to have a big workload.
I can't remember his name, but yeah, it's just doesn't seem like a James White week to me.
I don't think they do it Week one, and he's usually good against the Dolphins because patriots are usually trailing down in Miami and they're not gonna be trailing here.
Um, I think it is a competitive game, but not because of the offenses.
I think it's going to be a low scoring competitive game.
And for that reason, I think, James.
Just don't think he drastically outperforms value.
Taylor the running back that you are mentioning.
I just ran and picked up Rex Burkhead and two of my fantasy leaks.
So sure he'll probably go off.
And knowing Bill Belichick, it maybe JJ Taylor Or it may be, uh, um, a defensive back that he decided to get some.
So moving on to the sits for running back DeAndre Swift.
Obviously they brought in Adrian Peterson there.
And then Ronald Jones, they brought in Leonard for net.
Is that sort of your thinking we're putting these two guys in the sit column? Yeah, as far as the Swift is concerned, uh, I think he's, uh, he's got a bright future.
I really think he's, uh, a dynamic running back.
Uh, but with Adrian Peterson, their asses starter, you've got, uh, carry on Johnson there as well.
Let's say they each get 10 carries minimum.
Um, you know, what does that leave for Swift and Matt? Patricia, you know Bill Belichick, type of guy a swell, you know, former coach in New England.
So I'm just, uh I'm not sure.
Ah, and the other thing, too, is DeAndre.
Swift has had a hip injury throughout campus.
Well, so it's all kind of adding up.
I like him, uh, as the season progresses.
But this week, I think your your best.
Sitting him, Um, and then just with Ronald Jones.
Um and maybe I'm maybe I'm presumptive a little bit that Leonard Fournette is going to start stealing carries this week.
But I just, uh writing seems to be on the wall that Ronald Jones was the starter.
He was, uh, workhorse, but it doesn't seem like the actions of what Tampa Bay is doing really drive with what they're saying.
Uh and so and then I saw yesterday that, uh, Leonard Fournette was going to have a solid roll Week one.
So it sounds to me like it's gonna be a 50 50 and I think Leonard Fournette has is more talented.
The two and I think he'll win out as the season progresses.
Um, so I just I thought Ronald Jones was Ah, sit.
I could see an argument that if you drafted him or have him on your team, this would be a week to use him.
I just don't think you're gonna get what you want.
And the Saints run defense is actually pretty tough, too.
So, yeah, I completely agree with that.
And I could tell you they were hesitant about Leonard for net for two reasons.
At first it was learning the playbook and they didn't know what kind of shape using he came in.
He was in better shape than they thought.
And now he has a solid role for Week one.
It's not really too confusing.
Bruce Arians is pretty pretty straightforward on it if you understand what he's actually saying.
So, yeah, I think it's a pretty even split.
They'll go with the hot hand than Leonard.
Fournette is infinitely better than Ronald Jones agreed.
Let's go to wide receiver we have in the start.
Well, maybe not so much anymore.
Courtland Sutton was the start.
He went down hurt today, um, avoided serious injury, luckily, but presumably out this week.
But Stefon Diggs against the Jets tell us why you like Stefon Diggs? Yeah, I think I actually am pretty high on Stefon Diggs this season.
I think that he set up in a role where he is going to be the the number one in in Buffalo.
I think Josh Allen, um uh, we'll be able to hit him.
I know last year Josh Allen had some pretty poor numbers throwing deep, and that's kind of dig this forte.
Uh, Jet Secondary, though, is, uh, there's nothingto write home about.
Yeah, it's rough and Jamal Adams has gone.
Their cornerbacks are rough, I think, I think, for sure Stefon Diggs gonna catch a couple long ones this week.
John Brown might even get in on the action as well, eh? So I think that he's a great start this week at wide receiver to Yeah, I don't know how many times a za Packer fan that I've seen Kirk Cousins hit Stefon Diggs on a post over the middle faster secondary, and I see that happening a lot this week with Josh Allen in that strong arm is yeah.
I mean, I just think they're going to run the ball early, and it's going to be similar to what the Ravens said Week one last year.
They get up big early and get to have fun.
You get to experiment, try to try out your arms.
See what Josh Allen could do in a game.
And I'm pretty sure no Keep up with Stefon Diggs.
We have Jarvis Landry against the Ravens and Devante Parker against the Patriots, both dealing with a little bit of injury right now.
Eyes that your thoughts, Kevin, with these two? Yeah, and it's Ah, it's a little bit of ah ah.
Cop out on Starts it to kind of go with some banged up guys week one.
But, uh, you know, it's I think it goes without saying that, especially this year with everything being, um, kind of thrown up in the air.
No preseason reps.
Guys that have been missing on in practice a lot.
Um, I just, um, hesitant Thio Roll them out.
Week one, especially Jarvis.
Landry had hip surgery over the off season.
Uh um And, uh, Kevin Stefanski has already said that, uh, he's going to be kind of eased into into the season, so that to me sounds like he's gonna be, uh, um limited reps and then Kevin Stefanski, uh, last year with the Vikings had one of the heaviest run, uh, game plans throughout in the entire league.
And then, uh, also, the Vikings last year targeted their tight ends and running backs, Uh, far more than they did the wide receivers, which, um, Cleveland last year actually targeted their wide receivers, some of the most in the league with Landry and Beckham.
So I think you're gonna see both Landry and Beckham kind of perhaps losing targets this year.
And we're going to see probably more of Kareem Hunt on, uh, Austin Hooper, uh, getting some of those targets funneled to them.
The he he's battling a hamstring injury right now.
Um, and then also, Preston Williams is back there.
Uh, Preston Williams doesn't have Stefan Gilmore on him this week again.
Picking someone going against Stephon Gilmore might be a bit of a cop out to on the sit portion, but, uh, you know, just I know, I know Devante Parker actually had a pretty solid game the second time that the Dolphins and Patriots played last year.
But, um, that was also a game where Fitzpatrick That was the only weapon he had to target in the, uh, receivers.
So, um, I Also, I don't think Devante is going to return wide receiver to value or possibly not even wider three value this week.
Yeah, to me, both of these players here are kind of bigger names that air do for bad weeks.
And I think that just comes into play with the corners are up against, you know, you just talk to us to find Gilmore.
But Marlon Humphrey is, I think, top three corner in the league.
And Marcus Peters isn't half bad, either, you know, So this is too tough matchups right off the bat for Jarvis Landry.
Devante Parker in my eyes.
I went to look up quickly.
I have the wide receiver cornerback matchups here from pro football focus.
I don't think they o.
I mean, it's a disadvantage for Parker on Gilmore.
If they're not ranking it as severe.
I guess as I would.
But, yeah, he's a lock down corner.
I would stay away from him.
It's a similar situation to Mike Evans this week.
I would stay away from him against Marshall Lattimore.
Um, but yeah, that's the start. Sit.
Do you have any leans on tight ends this week, though.
Kevin like or dislike anybody.
Eso I haven't really gone into tight ends much just off the top.
If if I pull them up here and, uh, take a look at kind of where they're ranked, I will say a tight and I love this week We talked about him last night.
I think that Colts offense is going to flow through the tight end trade.
Burton's out and they play the Jaguars.
So I just think he's going to drastically outperform consensus ranks, which is around 20th.
I think he's guy I love.
I think he's a tight on one this week.
Then the opposite side, like jar one is ranked around tight. End one.
I have him 20th right now, and I think I'm gonna move lower than that.
Yeah, I got I know we talked to him yesterday to Zach.
We kind of talked about this topic, but I think Eric Ebron things week.
I mean, the Giants defense is horrible in my eyes, if you have, if you have Steelers, you play on this week.
Yeah, I think that's a really good call.
And you get to watch Monday night, then to your lineup go to the last second unite it's worth it.
And one guy who I like, uh, for ah, season long and I didn't look as deeply in the matchups That tight end here, um, is Hayden Hurst.
Um, I think that on he's got Seattle week One which, uh, I don't think it's a terribly imposing matchup.
Uh, it should be a pretty, uh, good week for him.
But Austin Hooper left a lot of targets behind in Atlanta, and I think Atlanta is gonna have to pass a lot this year.
So I think Hayden Hurst is gonna be a fine Uh uh, if you waited at tight end and drafted late, I think Hayden her still be a solid tight end by the end of the year.
Probably even top 12. I think so.
Get on that train That's fair in Seattle doesn't use a safety to cover tight ends there.
One of those teams that uses they'll use KJ right, I believe, to cover Hurst.
So if you can get into the open field, he's going to run right past him, So that's a good call that starts it.
We got football tonight.
What? You guys predictions for Kansas City and Houston.
I mean, DeAndre Hopkins on.
I think that's the difference maker right there is going to take those.
Take the DeAndre Hopkins plays is Brandon cooks and have no Brandon.
Cooks is banged up.
And I still don't believe in David Johnson.
Kansas City one's pretty handled, right? Uh huh.
I have to agree.
I think the stadium is gonna be rocking at 20%.
They have, I believe, fans air coming in tonight.
Uh, I think it's 20% capacity there at the in Kansas City.
Uh, trophy presentation spreads 9.
I think I think Kansas City covers 9.5.
I'm not usually a big fan of laying Maurin a touchdown the NFL, but I think Kansas City should, you know, let's face it in the playoffs last year, Houston gave Kansas City their best shot, had him 20 for nothing, uh, and then proceeded to lose by, uh, remember the final, but I think they lost by just about 20 or more.
Um And so, uh, now you take away your best player.
Um, have kind of, uh I think there's some breaking going on the locker room.
Um, I just think Kansas City walks away with this one tonight.
I think Kansas City wins.
I was initially on that spread early in the week.
I'm kind of siding with the Texans now, at this point, especially with so much public money going towards Kansas City, I think it's competitive.
I think there's going to be a lot of pen penalties.
I think both offenses struggle for quite a while.
I still think Kansas City wins, but I think Texans cover.
And if you're playing d EFS tonight, which I'm playing quite a bit on, I think the G p P winners tonight are Darryl Williams and Randall Cobb.
Hillary is going to be in quite a bit of a split.
He's not going to play as much as everyone wants him to, right.
And trust that you can't pass block worship.
Yeah, I can definitely get behind, uh, Williams tonight.
Uh, especially with my homes.
Uh, protection from my homes is king.
And, uh, if, uh, player misses one block, I could see him having a pretty short leash.
Uh, and Williams getting ah more reps.
Definitely I could get behind that.
What's your thinking behind Randall Cobb? I think this offense runs through Randall Cobb this year.
I think he's one of the biggest sleepers and fantasy that I don't want to write about, because I like him so much.
I think he destroys every week.
One he's ever been in, pretty much when he's healthy.
You think about the Bears last year or a couple years ago? Aaron Rodgers comes back from like a snap knee and destroys with Randall Cobb.
I mean, yeah, Randall Cobb's going to do his thing tonight.
I'm pretty confident in him.
And, you know, they have brain and cooks and they will.
Fuller, they're gonna run straight lines.
That's about all they could do.
Randall Cobb's going to come underneath, soak up targets.
I like that. My hot.
Hey, Luke, you mentioned, uh, David Johnson.
You're Are you down on him? Uh, tonight.
Yeah, I just from what I've.
So I had him in a couple of weeks, his rookie year, and they won.
He won the leaks, and I've been chasing those points ever since.
And they just haven't come.
So I've lost lots of faith in him over the last two or three years here, and I just don't think he's that kind of a football player anymore.
For whatever reason, Yeah, I think he's probably lost something, too.
I just think, uh, might take, uh, was that Bill Brian has so much Bill O'Brien has so much invested in this move that he made with trading Hopkins for Johnson.
I think Johnson is going to get all the work he can handle.
It's a Bill O'Brien, and, uh so it's hard for me to pass up funny touches.
Um, even if he's not what he used to be, Um, it's because there's not so many running backs to get that.
I kind of I still in lukewarm on him, Uh, just because I think he's probably one of only 10 12 guys in the league that can get 20 touches on any given week, right? And that's a fair argument and maybe just my biased against him, because I've lost some money on him the last couple of years.
Yeah, I think tonight, especially, I'm not sure about going forward, but I can.
I bet a lot of money on him getting the first touch for Houston.
And, like you said, Bill O Brien's a proud guy.
He's got so much heat, he's going to do everything he can to get Johnson in the end zone tonight.
He's he has to be featured.
Just because they gave up so much for him makes sense.
That might be a tip for the fanduel million dollar contest tonight, I believe 250,000, if you have the M v.
P uh, you get to split that if you, uh if your M v P scores the first touchdown is that are you going online and saying That's, uh, that's the play there? Uh, I mean, I have quite a bit of lineups.
I definitely have some, but I think there's other people on that narrative as well. I think it's a good call.
I'm more likely to lean someone like Randall Cobb or Michael Hardman, who is going to have less ownership so I can get up larger. Slice that pie.
Sure, mhm, but we'll see what happens.
Football's back. I'm happy.
The stresses back.
I'm on two hours of sleep because I've been writing all night. E.
Just wanna watch football make money.
