Welcome back to lick around podcast on the host, Ray G.
And I'd like to thank you guys for tuning in today.
Now, I know I usually don't go, um, live during the week, but I felt like this.
This was a one off.
I mean, like I said before, I'm sometimes I may jump on and, um, give you are alive, but we'll see.
You know, we'll see what happens in the future, but this is a one off right now.
This is definitely a one off.
I wanted to get all here and, um, talk about a few things about the last game.
Um, it was a good game.
It was a very good game.
But before we get into that, wherever or however you are doing in, you should take a moment out and check out stitch.

Now, um, this I said this is a one off live today.
and I want to get right into it.
I want to say this, you know, face to face.
I won't draw to see my face when I say this because I give this player so much hard time I'm on his head all the time.
And I'm one that if I can criticize a player, I'm also gonna be woman enough to go ahead and give them their credit when credit is due.
So, yeah, I know who I'm talking about, cause probably the only plan the Lakers that I give a hard time all the time.
And that's Rondo.
So shot out to Rondo for that game.
I have to give the man his credit.
His credit with his credit is due.
I am saying that based of faith, if you're watching this life, you replace live.
You see me looking right into the camera.
I'm giving Rondo his credit.
He played a hell of a game.
Um, playoff. Rondell.
Right now, I'm starting to believe in a little bit.
I need to see some more. Those two games.
Little sample size.
But it makes sense.
He did elevate his game.
He's doing better. He's looking better.
Um, you got to get him in credit.
I know a lot of people that they don't like Rondo their own rhinos hand, but they don't want to get a man credit.
We got to get his man credit.
He played a hell of a game.
Hell of a two games so far.
I mean, without those game without his game, But on his play, who knows if we would have won those games, especially the last game.
We know Lucy there a little bit, you know, our defense wasn't there.
And pretty much I really want to make this a quick podcast, a quick live because I know that a lot of people probably watching the Clippers game and watching the other game.
That's all right now.
So I just want to go through my stuff real quick and, um, get enough er and we'll do that again.
No Sunday will drop another live on Sunday, but, um, first off, yes.
So shut out. Toronto.
Like I was saying, this is the reason why I just alive.
Because if I can, Chris criticizes man, I can give him his credit and I'm giving his credit, you know, in person, in person looking right into the camera.
So whoever's watching this or listening to it I'm giving was credit.
I don't wanna hear.
You are telling me you ain't giving credit.
You always on his head, but you'll give him credit shot.
So Oh, now that I got that out the way, let me let me get down into the game.
So the Lakers start off a little shaky, right? The defense wasn't there.
The defense was like I was watching cable like So does anybody want Lady fits? The one thing I want to play defense.
It was a back and forth, you know, game that went back into four West Brooklyn.
And he was the difference in the first half.
He was different than first.
He was able to shoot, was giving him the shot.
He hit some threes.
He had had missed his mid range.
He drove to the bucket.
He was giving his buckets.
He was giving those buckets and we gave it to him.
We let them just do they want to do and the first half and the defense was just It was just so there's no effort.
There's no effort at all.
So, um, that's where it was a retained game to start.
Right? But everybody seemed brown hat.
That Swingle is I Bram was ready to go to the line first court first. I'm sorry.
29 1st half points, LeBron.
That's yeah, he was doing this thing.
He was He was on. Hey.
With this game, you know, had a stake, right? If Houston go up, obviously, it's not the end, all right? But you really don't want to go down to one.
You want to be up to one, you know, gang three people in a Siri's.
So I think this that say that the team that wins Game three most likely was the Siri's.
I think it's about 73% or something that if they say they will win the series so they know you know, the Lakers? No.
He's been through this walk in the park eight times, right events, eight finals.
So he understands.
You know what needs to be done and how to get it done.
And he came out, you know, ready? He came out ready to play.
He came out ready to go ahead and get this This win and all we needed was the other Lakers to to catch up with him, right? Would need the other Lakers t on his side and and and have that that fire they didn't They didn't come out with the fire.
Um, miss shots of this defensive assignments and it was just one of those games will be like, Okay, big guy not wanna played.
What is it? You know? And that start off, You know, real shaky babies had bowel trouble, you know? He was out on the perimeter a lot.
He he had 2000 and like, the first or second quarter.
So he had a sit down really early, and then we had javale. McGee.
Um, you know, Charles Barkley is one where I don't really play mind.
So when he says what he says, he just talks crazy to meet, right? So I really don't really take letting.
Let's take everything he says with a grain of salt.
So he said that, you know, it was no point in Frank Vogel play javale McGee because he gave 0.
You know, he's 7 ft and he didn't give nothing he gave nothing.
He was out there, and for the first time, I was actually able to agree with him.
You know, I usually never agree with Charles Barkley at all.
I don't think he's like the biggest Laker hater, but in this instance, where he was saying was absolutely true, right? JaVale McGee went out that he didn't give us anything.
You should be getting rebounds very easily.
But well, we do have to remember, your is JaVale.
McGee is not a great rebounder, and I'm not making excuses for him, right? I'm not saying they're saying that, You know, we got to cut him some slack because he's not a great rebounder.
The thing is, you know, everybody's 666765 He should easily be getting rebounds, but he didn't, so it makes sense for us to not pay playing.
It makes absolute sense for us to not play him.
It's not a serious for him, right? Um, it's a lot of serious for him.
It's not a serious from the White.
They definitely got to go.
I don't want to say that we need to play into Houston's hands right, because little has we could play bigger.
Could we got bigger guys, but it's just Dwight and injured ill.
It's just not there. Siri's.
So I'm glad that Frank went ahead and made that adjustment and it played, you know, pay dividends pretty quick now.
Like I said, Charles Barkley, he he made a lot of sense, and I definitely agree with him, Um, in that in that manner and then you had a baby slide over so the heat slide over to the five.
It's different. It's different.
No, he'd like to bank, but you're not banging is not, you know, Julian and beat.
And it's not a I don't know.
Ah Sai Whiteside.
It's it's believed that Tucker and it's, you know, Robert Covington, like your your good Don't worry about that.
So I'm happy he did that and maybe started off shaky.
He I was waiting for him to get the pain.
I'm like, Yo, dude, getting a pain, getting the pain.
He financed a lot.
He did a lot of turnaround, but when his jumpers all yar, it's on, it's all we can't be met.
We can't be mad at that at all.
He's He's balling, um, so I wasn't mad at, you know, Joe Bills.
I wasn't mad at a D so much in the first time.
I really kind of didn't like the whole team's effort beyond the hope, the whole or wasn't they went in there, and I'm like, Hello, Let's do this like let's get this way So moving on, um, schools is another plan that I definitely want to shut.
I'm always shine, not cool, because I know who's getting a lot off of of slander.
He does. He gets a lot of slander.
A lot of people don't really mess.
It cools like that.
They don't think he's a great player.
I think a lot of people don't like him because the Lakers chose to keep him, um, over the other young court.
But what people don't understand.
It's a lot that went in today wasn't just a it's Highland type of thing, right.
You have to think about contracts and all those type of things and that played a part and why.
Cools is still a Laker opposed to Alonso and opposed Toby I right bit and everything like that to be.
I probably wouldn't be the best thing right now because he is the ball dominant player, you know.
So it was a lot that goes into it.
There's a lot of reasons why people don't like Cools.
I just want to see him continue to grow.
We gotta remember he's still a young player.
He's going to get that.
He's going to get there, just give him his time to go ahead and and you get better.
So, um, he had a solid game.
He had a solid game and I love his effort.
Hey, had a play when he said the ball out of bounds and I believe Caruso hit a three over that.
I think I might be wrong, but I don't know.
He did say the ball out of bounds.
Um, you gotta appreciate that. You are.
You have to appreciate those plays.
No, those 50 50 plays.
Those ever play that shows who wants it, you know? Hey wants it, and I can appreciate that from Cools.
Now he definitely has to get more consistent.
That's where he really needs to work on his game.
He's definitely he has his defense game.
He's getting better on defense, right? But he has to work on his consistency.
There's 11 game he's high on again and again, you know, 50 15 points of him, 20 points in him.
And the next game we get eight, right? So cools have to.
That's the next thing that we want to see him, um, get better at is his consistency, man.
You know, if you're going to give us 13 points, this Siri's 13 points is what a little need you're giving us, you know, two points and then 15 points.
You know, just try to be consistent and what he does so shot out to cools on that one, um so lake around.

Let's consider this this podcast.
I want to make it quick so that everybody can go ahead and get back to their their playoff games that they're watching, which is probably the Clippers.
Um, it's the Clippers.
I really don't care.
I'm watch, though.
Let me not front.
I might go see here from, like, I go watch. I'm gonna watch.
But first I'm again.
Um, So the Lakers fourth quarter defense is where? That right.
The Lakers always the Lakers.
This this year's Lakers have that switch.
They have that switch toe where it's like, OK, we're waiting all of them.
So play defense we were doing in the ketchup from what we see, right, they had that switch where they can just turn on their defense in this clamp team up.
And I don't think I think a lot of teams underestimate them on that, you know, they think like, Excuse me, they think that, you know, the Lakers air not that credit with the offensive team right now, and it's like, Oh, we scored on.
We're doing what we do, right? Okay, fine.
You do what you do.
But when this team was ready to play me bits, I guarantee you you're getting clamp down and it's been a shrimp is not even a whose gold type of thing is not one no stage where it's like all they've been for five games.
And they're only good in the bubble with this defense.
No, that's been the whole let's pull the whole **** season, right? Um, so I'm happy with that.
I'm happy with their defense, but they need to play deepens, horny a minutes.
That's the issue.
Your that is the issue.
They wanna wait to 3rd and 4th quarter to turn that switch old instead of just having that, that if the effort output and the beginning of the game right, and we don't have to worry about this back and forth to hey, you look, Houston is a team that you don't want to get in a shootout with.
They obviously have better shooting less right.
The way that you do think Harden and in the Houston Rockets is different.
It's just different.
It's harder than definitely harder team to defend.
Obviously, I've seen a lot of people say we're not what what I don't say we were.
Houston is not Portland, right? And we are well aware that the Lakers are well aware of that.
And the fans? Laker Nation.
We are aware that Houston is not poorly, but we don't need people to tell us that.
Um, but they is Houston.
I'm not Houston.
The Lakers have to play defense consistently through the whole gang.
You know, don't get to a point where it's like me.
We've in fourth quarter.
Now we gotta turn it up so we can get this game.
Na na, that this set the toll from the beginning.
And Bron said that so from the beginning, four blocks, I believe man brought her back.
They handed the clock man stranger than from the founding You for real, chased down blocks.
Just Westbrook doing all this talking.
And he's doing, like, Bronin, that man like Bryant, That man right now he's going with people.
He's on a mission.
He's on a mission, and I don't know what I don't know what Westbrook is that you're just talking, talking like that.
But he that's how he is.
And I mean it is what it is that some him So, uh, yeah, the Lakers defense was great.
I just need them to do this for the whole **** game.
Not just the fourth quarter or not, Just, you know, the third quarter.
Because when they don't play defense like that, it gives the other team life right.
It makes them think like, OK, we got this weaken, we can do this. Right.
Um, but if they play defense, you know, the whole 48 minutes, then that's he knows they're in for man, the fight of their life.
And they don't have that confidence.
They don't have that swagger.
You know, they know that they're in for a dogfight.
So that's why I want the Lakers t consistently play defense for 48 minutes and not 46 not 45.
And this is something I always, you know, talk about.
It's just their defense because once again, deepest wish championships and, you know, they always hang their head or their defense.
They're not the greatest shooting team.
We're not this, you know, 73 9 going to stay, and wars are nothing like that.
So we gotta hang our hat on.
We had what were good and That's definitely, you know, on the defense side.
So moving along, I'm glad that that the legs defense slowdown Westbrook Westbrook had it going in the in the beginning.
Like I said earlier, he was the difference to me.
And then those first recorders, he was making his shots.
He was, you know, that he was getting what he wanted hard.
It wasn't that much of Ah, uh, he wasn't that much of a problem, but I believe they both scored 30 points each or closer, 30 points, Brown a b just dating better so And then they had to help from the starters.
I mean, for the pinch.
So some thoughts on the bench man shot into the whole bench that came in and contribute J.
Smith Let James Harden blow by him like that.
Yeah, no, I know that ain't me.
I wouldn't say Oh, you know, Frank, don't ever play Jr again.
That's not what I'm saying, But don't ever let him guard James Harden put him on somebody else And J. R.
Smith, usually a silent defender, but I don't know right there stands hardening and I can say with a couple defensive lefts they gotta work on.
But they watched him and they'll get it taken care of.
Now, One other thing I could say before I head about here, I like that the Lakers didn't give up, right? I like that.
The Lakers were aggressive and it didn't really, you know, the game one, they were down.
And if you could send it just what they weren't in it.
They This is like we lost this, you know? We lost this.
This is this is over.
We'll try again next game.
They didn't do that, you know.
They knew they were in for a fight and then continued to fight and, you know, they get punched, they get punched back and they'll punch back.
Maybe had a better second half.
How brown a B take times, right? It would be like Brown will have a good first half and a B will have, like, you know, subpar first half.
And then in the second half, a B will take over bronc and kind of chill and, you know, bites person.
I think that's cool.
Um, we just really need our bench to show up the bit.
Sure, we could show up Play defense.
Yeah, where we're good.
Um so what? And then I think I want I want to talk about the trash talk right now.
Your real quick.
It's crazy how there's so much trash talking on.
I'm like, Dude, just check ball, just play ball.
All this desperation talk and we feel confident.
And even if the conference side everybody's trash talking like they not at the same hotel like I mean, you catch that wrong Watts by the body. It's lovely.
Hope I'd like to see that, but, um, yeah, so I think I got everything out that I need to say.
Make sure not to move back in or Sunday for the next life scream and who know that I said, I man made my jump on again, but most likely it will be Sunday, if you don't know now.
