Oh, man, What a day.
What an absolute day.
We'll see how many people are around.
But I figured I'd try to do a little lunchtime street.
And for everybody who is just try to keep up with what's going on in the world.
So I'm I'm overwhelmed already.
Uh, today was planning to be a little day of podcasts editing and preparing for another stream.
I have later, um, let me set this a little bit better, but, um, that's obviously not going to be that way today.
Look, man, I'm excited for for, you know, lack of a better word.
You know, Steve Nash is a big reason I got into basketball him dark and Kevin Garnett, especially, or just the guys that kind of made an imprint on my young basketball brain.
It's why I love past first point guards the way I do.
I think we all kind of know that now that that I definitely tend to gravitates toward that style of play and just again like that instinctual feel for involving teammates is really crucial.
So, I mean, just as like a basketball legend, I'm really excited about Steve Nash in terms of coaching, I'd have no idea how to feel.
I mean, he's very, very green.
And I, you know, Adrian War Janowski Put a really good tweet out about, you know, kind of the history of hiring guys that don't have a ton of experience.
Um, just in terms of like, actually doing the head coach position seems to be like your your split in about 50 50.
So that makes me feel even more undecided about this.
Um, but he's worked under some really, really great coaching legends, Uh, Nelson and then Mike D'Antoni, Steve Kerr.
All these guys, he's just been either a player or he's worked in some capacity with, So I'm excited for that.
I think he's gonna bring a lot to it.
But things I'm really curious about our, you know, things like adjustments, things like figuring out rotations.
I think that really is probably the toughest part of the job to figure out.
I think a lot of that stuff tends to come with experience, figuring out what types of guys fit together.
What types of guys bring out the best in one another when to call time outs.
That's a really great one.
um, all of these little, many adjustment things.
I think that will be the toughest curve for him.
I believe I just had a comment right there.
Uh, good to see you, by the way, Don.
But I think those will be the toughest things right now.
For him to figure out on the fly is again just that stuff that comes with experience.
I think that's the stuff that I'm a little wary of at the moment.
In terms of like what the Nets are gonna be running, I'd expect their offense to be pretty great.
I mean, a you have a great basketball mind in Nash.
You also have Jacque Vaughn, who I thought was quietly excellent on the offensive end of the floor, really switch things up.
I think retaining him is probably the biggest key to all of this.
I think there's gonna be a lot of positions where Nash and Von are going to be working almost in tandem as head coaches.
So just because of the experience that Von has on Ben, just the I'm assuming how commanding Steve Nash is gonna be just in the huddle because again he's a coaching ledge there.
He's a legend, a basketball legend, but that I think that could really translate over to him being a really commanding head coach.
Um, so I mean, I'm really excited for this.
This feels like a compromise between Katie and Sean Marks.
That is a great point, and I actually think it's a it's a Joe Sigh compromises well, like one of the things I like about this hiring is that it kind of fulfills needs for everybody.
So it fulfills the relationship aspect of this with Kyrie.
But more so, K d marks clearly respects him.
And, of course, our guy Anthony Puccio made that very clear.
So I think that that's a big thing for them.
This is obviously somebody they've been targeting since March I gaskets, which is crazy.
And then the last thing really is that it also kind of fulfills the need for Joe.
See who we have to remember.
This stuff came out about them wanting a blue chip guy in terms of bringing in somebody.
Yes, he's new, but this is about his blue chip as it gets in terms of ah, big name, a splashy move new new owners.
Here's the thing about Joseph Joseph.
I inherited a team that he couldn't really do that much with in terms of there was no flashy signings to make or anything like that.
They already had Kyrie and Katie the flashiest thing he could do, and I'm not saying he did this.
I'm just saying hypothetically would be to throw out a, you know, an extension from one of their players.
So, like as we saw really early with Taurean Prince, that's the most he could do.
The roster was kind already built, that the cap was already allocated where it was.
So this was a big thing for them.
I think was trying to make that splashing move in a lot of ways.
With Steve Nash now splashy, I think a lot of times has a negative connotation and and for good reason.
Sometimes people get carried away with that.
I just think like if you're gonna be splashy, it also really helps that Steve Nash is one of the most instinctual and just overall, Um, you know, nuanced basketball minds out there like he just he just sees the game in such a different way so I hope that translates.
We've seen it translate in some ways, you know, with Kerr and other ways we haven't with Jason Kidd, and that's, you know, that they have succeeded and failed for different reasons.
I have to say I'm pretty excited for and I'm just really, really, really happy They retain Jacque Vaughn because if this experiment does go south early, and I think there's definitely a world like the thing about this is like it's very there's a lot of variants to this higher.
So you know, this could go great.
They could be the number one seed in the East.
I also wouldn't be that surprised if they came out pretty flat to start out next year, and some people are gonna like that.
But that's kind of where my head is that, um, you're having two guys come off injury.
One of them is like a really, really, really severe long term injury, and they're both haven't played basketball in what, 11 months? Maybe more than that.
So, um, you're looking at this for well, for Katie, it's even more than that.
But you're looking at this in a way where It's like you have these two guys.
They haven't really played together.
A new head coach.
I just could see it starting up a little slow.
And if if they never recover out of that, they have shock of on there, and I think that's the key part of all of this.
So in a way, they have their safeguard their safety net, and I think that's what you're looking for.
But if the national pops and like everything with this Nets team, if things popping, things connect, it could be sweet.
I'll leave it at that.
That's kind of where I'm at right now.
But I understand kind of a lot of this makes sense as we get more and more information just in terms of where it's coming from, and, uh, and and just like what the idea is and what the plan is, let me take a couple questions.
But let me Ah, I'm trying to think if I have anything else Bruce rides.
Did I not get pooches? Last name, right? Of course.
Like I can't pronounce names, man.
Even my close friends men you guys know this caress also has a relationship with Nash, probably won't get traded.
Yeah, I don't know.
I think it really seems like they're gonna run it back with caress.
I mean, just everything that we've seen in, like the relationship with with Durant.
I think they try to figure that out.
I've mentioned ways to do it, having play a little bit more of the bench, but, uh but yeah, that's kind of that's kind of where I'm at right now.
I'm just excited for next season.
Who isn't? I said it like a California Yo, can you frenetically spell this out in the in the chat right now? I'm gonna work on it.
I can't shed my California roots.
I really wish I could, but it's It's the most Californian thing ever.
That I can't anything, any, any.
I'm gonna blow it or first name.
Um, I wonder if we get any signings out of this.
What do you mean? Like in terms of like like warriors? Guiza's as supplementary pieces? Because right now, the team is kind of what it is.
So the only thing they can really do is make, I guess, like a star trade.
But that doesn't seem like it's gonna happen.
You could maybe make a trade around the fringes or you could sign like a guess.
A vet, men guy, maybe an Emily guy.
So would you be looking at? I don't I just don't know who the guy would be right now.
I'd have to think about that.
Like Leandro Barbosa, we now have friend of Kevin's friend and Kyrie way we now have friend of Kevin, friend of Kyrie and friend of Steve.
Yeah, it's like a little buddy Buddy crew.
I feel like I really I dropped something that I really wanted to to say in terms of what I think of this hiring.
One of the things I think that really is interesting to me is what type of in effect this has on Kyrie.
Um, I think those like those film sessions for him just being able to sit down next to Steve Nash and not just like because I think there's certain things with being a really, really good passer at the point guard position.
A lot of that's instinctual like it just comes with feel and just unfortunately, just think you're kind of born with that.
But I think the things that you are gonna be getting a little bit more are gonna be things like, Hey, you know, if you cross your right, uh, and then and then whatever, like snake into the middle of the paint and it warps the defense this way.
Look what this trigger is on the weak side from this from this defender, he goes, That was so it's just gonna be like a bunch of little.
I think things that he's going to see that his moves if he plays off one another and he's already really good at that, um e think it could really benefit his passing.
I don't know if I explain that in the best way, but I think that's the stuff I'm really looking for.
Is like, What does? How can he play chess even more and mix in passing and finding that extra guy and even just being the guy that provides the hockey assist? How can you vary those things and find a way to really, really, really involve the entirety of this Brooklyn Nets team? And I think that stuff's gonna be really exciting.
So I'll be honest.
I expect them toe like lead.
The leading legal leading offense.
I have no idea on the defensive side of the ball.
That's one of the things I'll be watching quite a bit.
But I think they'll probably do some of modulation of what most teams are doing now, where you flex in some zone.
Depending upon the team, you might switch screens a little bit and then just try to keep it honest.
Induce Amanda Man not expect something like that.
Bruce really ghosted on me.
He roasted me for how I pronounced things and then didn't give me the phonetic way to say that to say Bush's name, Um, get mellow out of Portland.
I don't think mellows coming to Brooklyn.
If I'm being honest, I really don't think so.
I think he stays in Portland.
That's kind of reminds me of of when Vince Carter, like he went to Atlanta and everybody just kind of expected him to leave, and he just sort of was like, I'm cool that here, like this, is a cool place to end my career.
Like the fans are really loyal and I don't know, I just think like something about that as you get sort of in your your ah, your twilight years as a player, I think you just start to value the little things.
And that stuff, I think, really resonates is for him.
For Melo, like, completely find himself again and just revitalized his career specifically in Portland.
I just see that translating.
Do you think this is Pot turning the job down or Sean wanting a lot more long term approach? Yeah, I definitely think it's I.
I really do think they probably pursued pop first.
I don't That's just a guess, to be honest with you.
But I think they probably I looked at him first, kind of got an idea of what's going on and then, but I don't know if that's correct, but that would be my guess.
Just with the way that this news has kind of come out, I also I thought of DeMarcus Um, this is Jerry Cy.
I thought about two.
Marcus is like a guy that's played under Steve Nash a little bit, so that's kind of something I'm not sure about.
They didn't play together like he didn't really like work with Nash for that long of a dress.
And that's the one thing I have pause with.
It's really only a year.
It's not like, you know, Boogie was this pivotal long term peace.
All right, um, what time is it? 12. 38.
I have a busy day so I might get going.
I'll take one more question.
Um, but, um, see if I missed any.
Um, All right, I'm gonna get going.
I'm gonna I'm gonna get out of here and see Ah, I'll be doing probably quite a few streams podcast throughout this week about Nash and everything that's going on with the Nets future.
But, um, yeah, I, uh I'm excited for this.
I'm excited for the higher definitely a great basketball mind coming in.
And, uh, this team just gets more and more interesting every day.
I don't really know what else to say.
Other than that, I don't talk to guys next time piece
