Are you doing okay? I'm doing okay.
My buddy is gone.
It hurts, but I'll have to somehow find a way forward.
And the multi talented Miss Camp Cruz.
How are you? Good.
How's it going? Good.
We're gonna talk some try baseball today.
Are you ready? Oh, yeah.
All right, so tonight on the show, we've got a great show.
You got a pack Show a lot going on.
So we will kick things off with power rank Monday.
Favorite actors of all time.
P. Chadwick Boseman, Black Panther, Super Super said.
After that, we will have our featured interview with Laurie Schmidt.
The handed one talking Big 10 little Ah, little blue jackets.
Maybe a couple minutes there.
Ah, that will break down this week's Cleveland Headlines Ton to talk about with the Indians.
Clevinger off to San Diego.
Brown's finally got a little bit of good news on the injury front, and then we're gonna get to a new segment.
Cem, we're gonna look at some bets for the Browns here before the season starts.
What could go wrong? I love this.
That's right on.
Then we're gonna play stump the flog.
What could go wrong? Speaking of that, Oh, yeah, we're playing Stump the Flood.
I am going to give you guys a quick They don't know what's coming for.
Stump the flood.
But we're going to do something centered around a current Cleveland sports team.
So if you need to do a little research up until that segment, go for it, something centered around, Okay, that's ***ue.
That's all you get. That's only getting.
Then we'll give you our bold predictions for the week.
But let's kick it off with some power rank Monday.
Full power rank Monday.
So, as everyone knows by now, Chadwick Boseman tragically passed on Friday, four year battle with colon cancer.
This one got to me.
I was I was balling I'm a huge Avengers nerd.
This guy was one of the nicest guys out there in Hollywood.
If you If you followed his story, um, Jackie Robinson, Black Panther Vontae Mack.
The list goes on and on and on.
No one knew about this.
It was just like, please be fake.
It was like when Kobe died is like, Please be fake.
So So said so In memory of Chadwick Boseman, we are going to power rank our top three actors.
I'll kick it off These guys Probably not on a bunch of list, but Brian Cox, you guys know who this guy is? Linebacker for the Miami Dolphins? Absolutely not.
Hey wants For years.
He's the guy from succession, the the HBO show.
Phenomenal acting in that.
But he's been in literally everything.
He was the, um that sheriff in Super Troopers.
He was in exile worker he was in.
He's been in lateral like 100 movies.
One of the greatest actors out there.
My number two go in with my favorite Marvel guy, Robert Downey Jr.
Got his life together, Pulled it together.
Um, some some incredible roles throughout the year.
And my number one.
Denzel, don't be training day.
Speaking of crying, I feel like ever since I've had kids, I cry way more like I'd watch like Extreme Home Makeover and like the bus will go, whales are blowing my eyes.
I only got some I'm like What is wrong with me? It's so weird, then just a tight shot of you crying.
Never cried before I had kids and, like once, I again crying all the time.
Denzel, one of the goats.
Chris, what do you got? I was just looking up.
Brian Cox, Dolphins player.
Yes, I was not wrong, by the way.
Really, really, really proud.
Hey, also apparently, really hated Buffalo.
That's the first thing that came up.
I don't like the Buffalo Bills is a team.
I don't like them as people.
I don't like the city and I don't like their organization.
Wow, that's some serious shade from Brian Cox or Buffalo.
Not a great actor.
No, no, not the actor. We're not.
We're not talking about the actor.
We're talking about the linebacker.
I went four deep this week because why? No, you go honorable mention or you go in just four.
Here's my honorable mention.
Ding don Sheetal don t you know it is just awesome.
He's just magical and everything that he's in.
Of course, you mentioned Marvel.
He's war machine in the Marvel movies replaced whoever that other actor was.
Whoop that trick.
What was his name? Um, yeah, I know you're talking about.
He was in Boogie Nights.
He's like he's good on Twitter.
He's really he's got a whole lot of causes to the does away from acting.
And I just think it's a cool guy.
Loved on Sheetal.
So I had to put him on my list somewhere.
My number three.
The only thing that could slow this guy down right now is Cove in 2020 because he was on a roll man.
He was in Jo Jo Rabbit, which was just fantastic movie last year.
He was in Richard Jewell, which a lot of people didn't talk about that that was another fantastic movie.
I want that after you create after you suggested it, Super said.
But like great movie, yet you cried. Probably.
I did not cry in that one.
I thought it was good for a story that a lot of people have kind of forgot my mind since that time I thought he did it, and he was, of course, the lawyer in that, And he did just a fantastic job in that Ah, he was also advice.
Ah, the guy is just a great actor, and he's starting to get some of the accolades nowadays.
But, man, he's that he's on a roll right now.
Johnny Depp, Johnny Depp.
But I I go back for Johnny Depp.
Her movie that doesn't get heralded as much as some of his other stuff.
I like him because he's he's always kind of done that off type of character, and that's what he searches out, going all the bait back to Edward Scissorhands.
But I loved him in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
He was just fantastic in that movie playing Hunter s.
And I'm just fascinated by Hunter s Thompson anyway.
And he was just so in character.
It reminded me of like Jim Carey and man on the Moon.
I mean, he was just so dead on.
When you see him and see the actual guy he's betraying, it was just It was wonderful.
So Johnny Depp specifically Oh, okay, Gap, just fellow cut her off now for Brings me, though to my number one Al Pacino, Al Pacino is my far it away.
Favorite actor Uh, I actually came into Al Pacino a little bit differently than a lot of people.
Ah, Devil's Advocate was one of the movies that I happened to see him in.
And I just thought, This is just a fantastic actor and he just plays it so well, he brought you into that role.
Of course he played the devil in that Ah, with Cheon.
Oh yeah, I remember wanting that, unlike laserdisc freaky movie, if you see the desk behind him in that are and if you've seen the movie, you know that he's got like spirits.
And anyway, he was fantastic in that I went back and saw, of course, everything that he's been in Scarface, Donnie Brasco you know, he's just such a such a great actor and my personal favorite that's Al Pacino.
I feel like I watch Devil's Advocate like, Way too young.
That was pretty kind of a crazy movie.
It really waas it really Waas Let's see if we have gap back.
Oh yeah, yeah, we're good.
Looking good. Okay.
Top three act dusted herself off.
She's back! She fell.
No big deal um, actually, Christie run up a couple good ones.
I totally forgot about Jim Carrey.
He's probably got a like, I feel like I have to rearrange my list.
I feel like I have to start taking people offer list baseball.
I know because you know what I had been growing to really like the rock and everything that I watch him Dio loved especially earning anything that he's doing.
I'm just He's so frickin under detaining, and I love that he takes on this whole super macho masculine look and then he's just super self deprecating.
One of my one of my favorite movies that he was in was like Germany one where he he wasn't even a bad ass.
You know what? I really need to see that with Kevin Hart.
No, don't seem that yet.
He plays a girl.
You would love it.
It's like, Oh, yes.
Um, but there was a get ah, the game plan, I think.
And he was like, Ah, his daughter.
I think he you know, he I just remember him in that role being so awesome with this little daughter and he had to be more feminine.
And, you know, have a tea party with their and stuff like He's perfect for those kind of roles.
So he snuck into my list.
But shoot, I feel like so bad.
I didn't put Jim Carrey on my list because I love some numbers.
I favorite movie, hands down.
It's always then always will be.
Just want kids They brokenhearted over this.
Yeah, I feel like I committed some sort of treason.
Like, how did I miss that? Um, my number two.
Did I have on here? Okay, well, Robin Williams, I think he's just so good.
He any, would you say? Yeah.
Any role you put him and he just nails it frickin from Mrs Doubtfire.
I think there was What was a Dead Poets Society? Like? Literally.
Anything he does, He just He's off after, and he's Yeah, he's good.
Will hunting Good.
Good will hunting.
Yeah, he's just hilarious to any time he's on any improv type of show.
If you watch his riffs, he just so talented.
You know this r i p to another talented actor there.
My number one and I'm so ****ed.
He's an Internet mean right now for entanglement reasons.
But that's what it was like a week ago. The Internets forgot.
OK, that's true.
I hope you're right because I was so mad.
It fit 50 stunt for I think it was him 50 who was, like, Steady.
I think he was like calling him out on.
I think it was him who he was like making fun of him on the Internet, and I was so mad.
But Will Smith is not number one.
I have loved him since forever since waking up before school to watch the Fresh Prince Wow, all of his movies.
Yeah, he's just He's great.
He seems like a genuine person dio that I want to get entangled with assist.
Unfortunate that he's on the losing side of the entanglements.
If you that's a good list, those are three good list.
Let's check in with comments Jared put out there.
Ah, three. Leo DiCaprio.
Great one to Matt Damon seeing those up.
Austin the Departed Great movie Top five movie for me.
Ah, and Gabby number one, he had the rock.
Yeah, see, the rock is Ah, I don't think there's no way up.
Go that high on Iraq.
No way you don't like.
I can't go that far, too.
That's a bridge too far for me.
Fair enough. Fair enough.
All right, let's, um, let's wrap up power rank Monday and let's talk some Big 10 because we have Lori Schmidt, the head one coming into the chat here on video for our featured interview of the week.
Let's go ahead and bring her on.
We will be back here in about 30 seconds.
Here we set the timer way have Columbus Media Reporter covers the Buckeyes, Blue Jackets, the NFL and a whole lot more.
She is the headed one is Laurie Smith.
How are you? First time I've lipstick air for six o'clock in a long, long time, so I'm a regular guy.
Oh, that's fantastic.
Thanks for coming back.
Friend of the show.
2nd, 2nd time on the show with us.
We appreciate it.
Is this like Saturday Night Live? Where? After enough appearances, I get like, a velvet jacket to put on and you're gonna be Oh, Steve Martin, you could host.
So let's let's get right into it.
Because Big 10 is all of the buzz out there.
I saw a vote came out today due to that lawsuit.
Ah, Iowa, Nebraska is you voted to play? What's the latest going on with the craziness that is the Big 10? It really is hard to believe that they went from being a leak that had such a forward thinking schedule to a team that went toe, actually just blowing the whole messaging of canceling the season to protect the health and safety of the athletes.
Like, How can you blow that? But they have.
They they simply did not provide the kind of transparency that they should have.
They weren't free with information.
They've been reacting Freedom of Information act, request results.
So it's they just they look like they're hiding something, even if they're not their initial statement on it.
I actually did the math.
Their initial statement on post putting this season was all of 511 words back.
Whoa, 12 page do***ent, Kevin Warren, 511 words.
It was ridiculous, and that's why we're where we're at in terms of people filing lawsuits before your requests.
That's why we're learning now about that 11 to 3 boat in favor of postponement of the season is the heat getting turned up for Kevin? Warn the commissioner of the Big 10.
Yeah, and like I said, it's amazing how he went from being lauded for being forward, thinking to just looking like someone who should have a red nose on right now.
It's just it's been pretty darn amazing to see how quickly that won't run.
So with that vote today, what do you think is gonna end up if you have a crystal ball right now, Laurie, what do you think's gonna end up there? A few options out there.
They're talking about playing.
Maybe Thanksgiving, maybe kicking into next year.
What? Do you hear it in terms of buzz? What? What's your best guess as to what the Big 10 does? My personal guest, Chris, would be that to save face here.
The best move for them would be to postpone until January.
If you start trying to play in November, then everyone questions.
Well, why did you postpone the season to begin with? You could have started in October.
A few weeks earlier.
You could have been part of the college football playoff a picture if you had done that, so I think if Kevin Warren is more PR savvy than he has shown in the past few weeks, which is a very political way to put things I like that.
Yeah, it shows a little more savvy than he has.
Then, um, he will probably postpone until January.
And the thing that the Big 10 said that they lacked was certain that's in there. 511 words.
That's the message they tried to send was that they lacked cer*****y when it came to the Corona virus.
They're not gonna have much more of that in November.
I wouldn't imagine if certainly is really what they're looking for.
If they were genuine about that, that I would expect them toe wait until January.
So how do you think is gonna happen if you if you had to put a prediction on And I know that's kind of tough with everything going on.
But what? What? Ah, what are your thoughts? What do you think? I think a January restart would be my guest.
It will give teams time to get ready.
It will give them options in terms of sorting out.
Well, do incoming freshmen get to play? Ah, you know the the early enrollees.
Do they get two seasons and one year of eligibility? Do they have a lot of details to work out? Um, so and we've been told that there right now in the very initial part of their planning, and they're they're scheming and they're looking ahead.
So I can't imagine things get turned around so quickly that we see them on the field in November.
What are you seeing amongst the always rational Ohio State Buckeye fan base? Ah, I know that there is a rally at Ohio Stadium back either this weekend or late last week or something.
Sending it was sent it.
Uh, talk a little bit about that.
I don't know if you cover that at all.
I didn't hear ah whole lot about it locally, but, um, that doesn't mean that he was not fun, I imagine.
But, uh, what's been the reaction amongst the Buckeye faithful? Well, those were some of the most faithful Buckeye fans because they were the parents of the OS you football players who were speaking in staging that rally.
And I really wish that the media coverage of it had been a little more extensive because I think there's this perception out there that the OS you football parents and the parents of the 11 other teams that joined with them to send elaborate letter to Kevin Warren to say Where you doing? Um, I speak perception is that their demand is more football.
Give me football.
We need football, but it's much more nuanced.
It's my It's much more nuanced than that of the president of F P A A O S A.
Football parents at Ohio State, Amanda Babb said.
A prerequisite for Home is that every school in the Big 10 adopt the same health and and safety guidelines as OS you.
That's a prerequisite for her.
She doesn't want to continue if that's not the case.
Corey Teak, the father of Master Team, said that he actually considers it a possibility that the big time might be in possession of evidence.
It actually justifies them who's pulling the season.
He's not going so far as to assume that they did it for nefarious purposes or they have no reason for doing it.
They are making a very reasonable, nuanced argument that they just want more transparency a just more information and they want included.
And they want their input to be valued as they move forward, coming up with new plants.
That's interesting that you bring that up because that's certainly not the perception.
I think that's out there.
Especially like I said, the as.
And I'm a Buckeye fed.
Obviously, you know, we get ripped out all the time for being overzealous, and even that kind of falls on the parents as well.
He assumed the parents of these players want him to are pushing them just to play, because that's the reason that they came to be a Ohio State Buckeye.
So, no, I don't think that message is out there.
Um, do the parents.
It almost sounds like the parents themselves have a better approach than what the Big 10 overall does when it comes to this.
What kind of, ah, an impact.
Do you think that the parents are ultimately going to be ableto have here? Do you think that you know, it sounds good in in what we're hearing.
Um, but do you think it's gonna have a big effect on what the Big 10 actually does or has any effect on what the Big 10 actually does.
I don't think that alone.
The 11 parents groups coming together to send a note an open letter to Kevin Horn makes a difference.
I think it in conjunction with Justin Fields petition with a lawsuit with the FOIA requests that have been filed.
I think all of that ac***ulates and builds pressure.
And I think that's probably why we saw reporters coming forward with leaks from the Big 10 about Hey were thinking about having the season a little earlier.
I think that they were trying to look responsive.
So um yeah, I do think I do think that there are included at least a little bit and then the next round of planning toe, find out what they're comfortable with, what what they want to do.
So you do think and I think, big picture.
It's possible that this whole situation empowers collegiate athletes.
They have found that they have a voice.
Parents have found that they have a voice and I think that this 2020 or as many things as it's going to change.
That's one of the things that ends up being different at the end of all you talked about leaked sources on the Big 10.
So we've got friend of the show, sir.
Yacht on Twitter sur Yon has been out there.
He sticking? He's sticking to the story.
It sounded like he definitely had a source in there.
Have you been following along, sir? Yachts battle online with the internet trolls.
I'm afraid that I have not been able to, uh, follow story on as rapidly as I probably should, right? No.
I continue to follow mainstream media sources and vetted journalists.
Sort of the people.
Uh, do I tell you what, though? It's funny because some reporters really just don't want to interact with anyone but other blue check marks.
And I think that that's just ridiculous.
Sorry, I has something to say.
I want to hear it.
I like that a lot.
You are doing your thing.
She was talking about a nuanced approach.
That's a very nuanced approach to sir yacht right there.
That's very well done.
Yeah, we're not bashing the Ohio University today.
How are weak like canyon simpatico is Mac brothers and sisters with our league canceled.
What are we gonna do? I We don't have any football now, Laurie.
We can't show our dominance over you.
Tongue in cheek.
I just like to stick to academics.
Yeah, I'm gonna miss the beat downs on Eastern Michigan is what I'm going.
He's been Michigan.
What you did to us and I will not how? Pulling out the Eastern Michigan smack.
And that's expected.
Going like the point. A lot.
Well done with You deserve it.
They put us in a lot of room.
That was so nasty.
The anti bacterial soap was growing old.
I it was just Yeah, from the point I did have in my notes.
Don't bring up Eastern Michigan with Lori. She goes nuts.
So now I know why that's in there.
And Brady? That's right.
Brady Hoke calling Ohio State Ohio.
I know that that happens to be one of your hot buttons.
So if you're looking, if they are gonna play, if Ohio State is gonna play this year What the audio anticipate in terms of football d anticipate? Obviously, it's not gonna be a normal season.
But where do you think the Big 10 for somebody just kind of flying in right now.
Who do you think is the class of the Big 10 outside of Ohio State? Who do they have to watch for on their schedule? Well, I do anticipate that will host a will go undefeated in 2020? Um, no, Just because we don't play any games, I think Miami University is gonna go undefeated in 2020.
There's that, too, and we don't know what the schedule will look like.
So I think that the one team that they will make sure Os you plays is Michigan.
If there is no other game played, it will.
I mean, they played in 1918 with a war raging and a pandemic, So I don't think they're going to cancel those who? Michigan.
So I'm going to go with that as being the most difficult game on the schedule.
Even though I know Michigan has its challenges with some of the players that have already opted out and the struggles they always seem tohave against OS you.
But that's what I'm gonna go with, because that's the one team that I'm pretty darn sure will be on the schedule just cause they're sidestepping Miami once again.
They got got the taste last year and I was there in person.
And by the way, Miami University was up early in that game, 72 to 4.
Very, very, very early.
We were there early.
Was that Chris was at the safety game.
I think that what you say.
Yeah, it was good times, man.
That was good times. For about five minutes.
Courts out of the scoreboard.
I got pictures of it.
The whole nine yards and I tweeted it out.
There are dominance over Ohio State for a couple of minutes now.
He doesn't get an opportunity to talk blue jackets very often, and I know it's over, but he has a few blue jackets questions for you.
I like the Blue jackets. Lets go.
Of course you do.
Come on. Lorries were central Ohio.
We gotta stick together, stick together for a blue jacket.
What would you ultimately think? You know, obviously you're playing bubble hockey.
Things are a little bit different.
You come into this season with the blue jackets.
Haven't lost so many of their key players.
Ah, from the Bread Man, Panera in two.
Do I goalie Bob? Um, you know, people were wondering what to expect out of the Blue Jackets would make it into the playoffs.
Part of that is because of the change in the format.
But, um, ultimately get bounced.
Have a just, ah, historic five overtime game.
What was your take away from the Blue Jackets this year? That it was a remarkable season in that they not only came back from the losses in create agency, that they suffered that you mentioned Do Shane, Panera and Bomb.
They not only overcame that, but they suffered some incredible injury problems.
They lost their leading scorer for weeks from 2019.
Can Mackinson was show.
They lost their All Star defenseman, Seth Jones, for weeks.
They lost their All Star goalie, Joonas Korpisalo, for weeks.
So the they made it in getting with the adjustments in the bubble hockey and all that the revised, uh, postseason that they played in.
It was incredible to see them make it in and even more incredible to me.
And what speaks to the culture that's being established now in Columbus is that after all that after they lost Tampa Bay and were bounced out of the postseason.
John Tortorella sat there and was asked to reflect on how remarkable their run Waas.
And he said, I'm not answering touchy feely questions and walked off so disappointed with how things ended when you're that demanding, That's the kind of culture that gets you into the postseason four straight years.
So you didn't see that there were some people who I heard in the media who said, Ah, that's classless He couldn't sit there and take it.
He can't walk off like that.
You've got to take your medicine.
But you like the fact that I did to you, like the fact that he said, Hey, we didn't we didn't reach where we wanted to be That's not what I expect and they got out of that well towards don't understand him.
You've got to understand that he does answer every question.
He just doesn't always answer it.
When you want him to like a week later, when he's time to cool down, he will talk to you about this season and his perspective on it.
He's just a guy who's very emotional in the moment and because he is you, Honestly is a really good guy.
I'm going to give him that Grace I'm gonna say, Yeah, you can go ahead and be emotional in that moment.
Answer my question when I asked a week later.
Okay, So Lori working everybody find you these days? Well, I am still on Twitter at Lori Schmidt, and I am now working for 614 media in Columbus on and we have a lab site 614 now dot com.
So that's where I am currently located.
Well, thank you for the recap of the Big 10.
Hopefully, hopefully we're gonna have some football safely here, and hopefully we're gonna beat Michigan.
And at some point in the future, I look forward to that Mac matchup off.
Oh, you vs Miami, where Miami will dominate once again and get back on the track.
Until then, I am glad to be in spatter co with you, Weaken suffer together Gnome action.
This year's right reason.
A pandemic we're gonna do on Tuesdays.
Thursdays, Thursday nights without in action? I don't know.
Like I said, this was the first time I put on lipstick after six o'clock in a long time.
So I don't like what I'm gonna do with my evenings this fall.
I was gonna say blurry.
How is everything changed for us reporting? I know there's got to be so many changes.
There have been quite a few changes.
Some of them, not all of them.
For the worst, I do, like kind of how reporting has been democratized in the way, um, the NHL, for instance, playing in Toronto, you couldn't exactly to go up to John Tortorella and stand in a huddle and interview him.
So all the interviews were posted on Zoom, and you no longer had to be an outlet that put a four descending a reporter Toronto to do your coverage.
So I do like the democratized.
In that way, it is hard getting a sense of atmosphere, of place, of what people are feeling throwing computer screen.
So that's changed of the camaraderie of reporters.
Oh, that's you know, we a lot of reporting is you bounce ideas off your colleagues.
This isn't New York, where reporters air cut throat.
This isn't a telling reporters are they talk to each other.
They feel out what are the best ideas in avenues for reporting and all that stuff.
So that is all missed.
There are, but not everything needs to change in 2021 so that there have been so good things, too.
And I'm gonna try to focus on the positive.
Would you like it to stay in that zoom way? Um, like you said, it's not as competitive, but I know sometimes Have you ever been in a situation where you're trying to get an interview and somebody slides and before you, But now I'm zoom.
It's like unequal playing level.
Yeah, I will both.
I want to both be elbowing reporters out of the way and, you know, breaking their ribs and having the zoom capability.
So like a newer Eifert station, Yeah, so in Newark Radio Station can get the audio and cover the team there.
I I'm all for the best journalism possible.
And by making those interviews more accessible to more media outlets, I think you end up with better coverage, and that's what I'm all about.
And I think that's what journalism should be all about.
Is taking the best reporting out? We'll keep it up, Laurie.
Thanks so much for your insight.
Thanks for having me.
I really appreciate you guys for having me on tonight.
Somebody said in the video to Lori got of Eastern Michigan.
I had forgotten about this.
Remember back in 2014 when they did this entrance and you know, all these football teams now we're tryingto one up themselves out entrances at that time, and they built a big wall and they had sledgehammers that they were supposed to smash and run through, and they weren't able to do it.
I definitely remember that.
I'm not the person who stuck the extra glue in the mortar, but I have what have seen these players were trying to get out and have these big sledgehammers to show that, you know, their real men kind of getting out on the field of battle and they couldn't get through the wall that they built.
So there you go.
Greg Schiano's keep chopping wood and his leg with right.
I forgot about that.
We need to do a segment of all the best motivational tools that backfired.
Because way do a full show on that bad top three.
You can do your powering.
There we go. Power again, Laurie.
We greatly appreciate it.
Awesome stuff is always We will talk to you real soon.
Thanks for having me.
All right, everyone.
Laurie Schmidt, Go follow her on Twitter at Lori Schmidt.
Ah, really appreciate her.
Taking some time tonight and little week.
We got a little Oh, you a little Miami banter in there.
Right? So settled that one on the field.
Yes, we will. 2023.
Let's move on to some Cleveland headlines.
So I hit the wrong button.
321 Cleveland Headlines Dave, I can't believe it.
We are less than two weeks away from the brown season opener.
Can you believe that's so weird? The city of Cleveland, though, is banned tailgating this season.
But Cleveland clothing company is here to help.
Right now, you can preorder one of their fabulous immunity lot drinking Team Tee's Dave and I both have one of those.
Or by I wish I was at the Munich a lot bumper sticker.
Be sure to visit any of their locations to get this or any of their other gear like downtown on East Fourth, the Summit Mall in Akron in Shaker Heights, or by the big place studio right here in Crocker Park.
And if you shop on their website at Cleveland clothing co dot com, remember, these are promo code big play 20 to get 20% off your purchase.
Go check him out.
Okay, So the Indians, big day for them.
Traded Mike Levinger.
One of the nicest guys that come on.
Chris and Craig.
Flair to be named later.
Off to San Diego to the Padres.
We got left fielder Josh Naylor.
Uh, yeah, yeah, I saw the video.
You put his first home run on Sunday night, baby. Not bad.
Not bad one for this season.
He looks like a beer league hitter. I love this.
So we get him, we get an outfielder, we get a reliever, Cal Quantrill, catcher Austin Hedges.
And then we get three minor league prospects.
I think it was their out of their top 11 3 prospects out of those guys.
So jab talking. Tribe.
What? What? Your thoughts on the trade.
Did you see that coming? Um, a little bit.
I did kind of feel that I had an inkling about the Clevinger.
I know that they're gonna I know that it They said it's unrelated or whatever, but, you know, with a little bit of the issues we were having, I can add in claim maybe at the deadline we were going to say part ways with him.
Um, but it was an interesting return that we got.
So I'm still, like navigating through who we got.
I feel like the shortstop that could be legit if he gets developed.
And, you know, we don't know the future of Linda or and whatnot, so that'll be interesting.
We'll see with ah, Josh Naylor.
So I mean, he was nailing the I saw the video to Chris that that you, um, re tweeted or posted.
And then I also saw, like, the below that I started peeling into that interesting scenario with a knife was getting weird and then getting weird on the replies there.
Yeah. Did stab a teammate.
He did Loki stab a TV? Yeah, he did step.
I mean, So I like this guy, right? All right. He's aggressive.
He doesn't give.
I mean, OK, we don't know yet.
Maybe this is gonna pan out.
Well, he's got a little bit crazy, and I'm cool.
It's got a little bit of hedge.
I mean, come on.
We toss around the term clubhouse guy a little bit too much, but I mean, this guy literally clubhouse guy, right? I don't get this guy quite yet.
Not not a ton of knife fights here in Cleveland, but yeah, I I think I think he might be a good fit.
I was thinking somebody posted this to that.
Maybe he was playing one of those games where you put your hand down like this, you take the knife and she's like a Lee. You can go faster.
Yeah. Yes, you can go fastest.
Maybe, huh? I mean, well, Bowers gone.
So any drone cuts so now would go on to knife cuts.
Who knows? But get your imagine, Tito, like walking into the clubhouse.
And the new guy is there with a bunch of veteran players.
Just playing that game for the Knights would not be good.
Would not be good.
It was more trade, though, like Gabby.
You said it like you didn't get like a big name player in return.
It all you got like three replacements for Lin door and like a replacement catcher.
And then we have another outfielder who might die.
Good, right? Be like, yeah, maybe they know things that we don't know because im only you know how magical they are with how they develop players stuff.
So I'm like, OK, and that gets lost along the way.
I think sometimes because we're so quick to just blame the Dolans for being like cheap and stuff.
But, you know, so many of these trades do work out for us.
It just takes a little bit all the time.
Yeah, all the time.
And it's it's frustrating right now, I think for some people cause you say, Hey, we're right in the thick of things we are in first place and your trading away, a guy who is arguably it ace of many, many staffs and, ah, arguably a key.
Please keep player for us.
Ah, and you're not getting back the type of impact player you would look for for a World Series run.
You know you're not getting back and Andrew Miller in the pen right? Or you're not getting back a bat that everybody was looking for necessarily.
So I think there's a bit of first frustration there.
But, you know, for a team and for the plan that we seem to set up year to year, this fits with what we dio is fits with what we do.
We just got to hope that some of that talent were able to develop like we have in the past.
Remember when we had Jay Crawford on and he's obviously a super knowledgeable guy When it comes to pitchers, you can still throw the upper nineties, As he claims, allegedly allegedly, supposedly reportedly he he always.
He talked about Clevinger and that violent motion he's like later in his career.
He was gonna have some some tough times.
And Chris, we talked about it Clemens or like Oh, yeah, he's probably like 26 27.
He's pushing 30 so I feel like it acts like he's a lot younger.
I feel like this was I think I think it's gonna work out.
I think it's gonna be like all these other Indians trades where these a couple of these guys are gonna pan out over the long term.
But we shall see if you know what we gotta do.
That was that in honor.
Clevinger getting traded away.
We gotta play the baseball card game most of the game that he and please sack got into trouble playing late at night.
And right here, Dave, I've got two packs of baseball cards.
There's air both from 1992.
We've got an upper deck and we've got Pinnacle.
Both of these once got 15 cards.
One's got 16 cards, so generally about the same.
And for anybody who hasn't played this with us, what we do is we ticket pack.
So, Dave, you'll pick which pack you want.
All right? And we both picked two dudes out of there.
And whoever has the best two dudes wins.
Because that's the only way we could figure out that these guys were betting baseball cards.
So now it's in honor of Clev Injure getting traded away.
We're gonna bet baseball cards.
So, Dave, which one would you like the upper deck pack or do you want the pinnacle back? I am definitely going.
Upper deck upper deck.
We open yours first.
I'll tell you what nine for. All right.
Nine will open up.
The pinnacle hasn't worked out for you in the past.
No, All the teeth bite.
Well, Donna, did that go through the bike? I hope everybody heard that. My dentist.
Ah, yes. Let's see.
That's an idol's card.
No, that's not This is you, right? Yeah.
This is this. My okay.
This one is junk junk.
We'll just go straight to do Ryan Sandberg.
All these air all stuck together.
You know Ryan Samberg, Ryan Sandberg? That may be a starter.
I got Mike Groppe ouzo from the Astros.
I got Anthony Young from the Mets.
I got Scott Livingston from the Tigers.
This'll pack is going downhill quickly.
I got Bob Kipper from the Twins.
Win one for the Kipper.
Archie can Franco from the Expos.
Wow, this is pathetic.
Wow, this card is awesome.
One barren jer from the Braves, right. He's like, guys.
Did I get a minor league pack or something? Ricky Jordan from the Phillies.
Darren Lewis from the Giants.
There's somebody at least know from the Braves.
Jeff King from the Pirates.
Eric Davis from the Dodgers.
the same Eric Davis played for the Reds.
Yes, sir Scott Sanderson from the Yankees and Darryl Boston, Terrel Boston from the Met.
Wow, that has to be the worst outside of Ryan. Sam Bird.
That must be the worst part of all time.
Can you Soko, Can you find Sandberg? Eric Davis, That'll be my combo.
Okay, Dave, here's your I'm gonna beat you in leg three cards. Yeah.
Well, you did last time, too, And I had better cards.
Ah, there we go.
No comment either.
These packs, which is kind of upsetting John.
John John on Twitter says, while that was a bad pack, that was horrible, man. Nothing good.
Okay, was he goes, Oh, I forgot.
We got to do a better job promo in our show.
Upper deck, upper deck.
Here we go. I'm ready.
Eric Hanson from the Mariners.
Probably. You know No Tom.
I know the Dodgers.
I know that name.
Steve Decker from the Giants? No, nothing.
Oh, this is a good one that we got Van Slyke.
That's a great cars.
We'll set him off to the side. Yep.
That's a winner was a lend.
No, Probably not going to get you there.
No, no, Kevin McReynolds is there? Is that a cartoon tearing Jackson now, Steve Citrine **** Trinh Children? I don't know.
We went from last week having like the best cards ever in your pack to justice either.
These rough Dave Hollins.
No Darren Lewis.
No Craig Grebeck.
Know who? Chris Carpenter.
I guess I have to say it looks like the last one.
Okay, we'll leave it up to Gabby.
Gabby, it is gonna be Eric Davis and Ryan Sandberg against Andy Van Slyke and Chris Carpenter.
Which one is the winner? Can you tell me with a small place? What position can you bring up? A little bit of the stats on the cards.
Can I get a little? Yeah.
You got to say something.
How about John on the comments? What is John in the comments? Chris Carpenter was a picture, of course.
And he was a very good picture.
He was an all star pitcher back in the day.
Ah, and events like he played in a World Series, I believe.
Know Gabe John in the comments that he loves Andy Pirates.
He got his, uh, autograph as a kid.
So that and he's out of the Andes.
Like I get who wins.
I don't know if Chris is gonna give you any more stats.
Yeah, I'm not gonna give you any more stats.
And then you got Ryan Sandberg.
You know Eric Davis.
Eric Davis played for the Reds for a while and played for the Dodgers.
And ah, that's right.
Throws right 1 85 height, 6 ft three born.
What else would you like to know here? Let's go with Andy.
Chris Carpenter are your winners.
That's probably again heading cards in honor of Mike Levinger going away.
And I've got extra packs for next time.
Hopefully, we get better players because that was excruciating.
I can't believe you don't get any kind of like, dumber of sticker a tattoo that's wild.
I do have two packs for next week that both have gone really looking forward to tasting that You mean crunching that the last one I could microphone Oh, yeah, it'll be the same.
Say we've got tops 1989 next week to look forward to and done dress.
What year is that? I have no idea.
But it's got gum in it.
I believe as well.
So both of those packs for next time tune in, folks.
Chris, out of all these Indians players that we got, Yes.
You know, a lot of times we get these young guys on the show and then then they become famous, and then they're like, Oh, they their friends of the show.
So who were these guys that we got? We've got, you know, anywhere from, like 20 years old to 23 years old.
They're all super young people here.
Who do you want to have on the show? I gotta go with Josh Naylor. Yeah.
How about the catcher guy? The guy looks like the type of guy You go out to a bar and have a beer with that stroke.
That's the type of guy we like to have on the show.
We'll get him a but heavy here in the studio.
Maybe we could play just like we just played that card game for club will play the knife game with him.
Let's grab the knife moving on because idiots were were tied for first.
I know and guess what.
Right now we've gotten Indians update.
We're in the seventh inning.
Give me a good lay in Kansas City in Kansas City, it's No.
Cleveland's banged out two hits.
Kansas City against Shane Bieber has banged out one hit.
This'll is a game.
I tell you what.
We are missing a barnburner, folks, that we are.
Let's get some some of those bats in here.
Get Josh Naylor here.
That's that's right.
I guess most of those guys made the trip already.
I think Tom Hamilton was saying that pregame so available tomorrow, I think they said Maybe tomorrow and then I think, please Sack coming back said we didn't want him. Now we want him.
You have a spot open for you now filling in for Clev Injure because that's very 2020 right? That's right. That's right.
Ah, yes, were 1.
5 over Minnesota.
We beat them two out of three.
In between shows here, offenses come alive.
We had that huge game this week.
But we scored four runs in nine of their last 13.
4 more runs we're supposed to supposed to do as the average ball club.
You should be doing that.
Yeah, that's very true. That's very true.
But, Gabby, the bats are coming alive.
Do you Do you feel like we can keep this going? Obviously not tonight.
But do we have the players in place? Where? You hoping they were gonna go get another bat? They didn't.
Yeah, they kind of did.
I do feel like we have the pieces to the puzzle.
Honestly, I mean, I did kind of think we're gonna get more in exchange for Clev injure.
But maybe I just don't know what you know.
Our scouting are sorry.
People behind the scenes are doing, Um but I really think we've got the right tools in place to be able to do this.
Our outfield isn't bad right now.
Um, hitting wise And who also stepping up.
I mean, what kind of kind of I think it Linda has kind of been interesting to me.
But who did you say Fran Mill friend has been fantastic.
Looking in the comments, Ritchie says he just doubled the center and a run scored one? Nothing.
Yeah, I just saw that. Well done.
He is on one, and I really hope it doesn't stop because he's just been, like, so fantastic.
We will, But a lot of ah lot of Padres joining the Cleveland Indians friend will one of them on.
And that's I would say that's worked out pretty well, Chris.
In the comments, John Ah Boyle says it was Matt Laporta in this trade man Matt Laporta party.
Remember? He was the center boost.
What was a CC Sabathia? Yeah, that brewers back in the day.
Oh, yeah, that was that Was it Matt Laporta, part Matt Laporta.
But first base, he'll be there for at least a decade.
Yeah, eso We've Kansas City three games and then we host Milwaukee for three games.
Like those are right.
Yeah, tries 1 11 of the last 15.
Both of these teams suck their under 500.
Chris, give me a record Prediction Gap Record prediction for this week one. Nothing.
Bieber tonight, Not over Record prediction.
Doing all positive on the show? Well done. Right.
Well, I feel like I can't copy you.
So sat back during the corner.
Sees the positive one.
Now that we'll take how bout will take one loss.
So would that be 51 side and one Final one? Or I wasn't trying to be too negative, but I was like, Do I go what we're going to Dio? We're gonna lose two games But But I did find the one last time.
I don't want to do the same thing But you know what? Five, 515 and one are speaking of probably not five and won the Browns first game 13 days away.
As of right now, offense according to reports on Twitter, haven't followed it.
Super close. Local looks a little off.
New offensive line.
New offense of philosophy.
Chris What it would be expecting.
I know neither of us have been super invested in the ground.
Brown's pre pre season here.
But were you expecting out of this offense? You know how much I hate this time of the season.
Come on and the offense looked off.
Give me a break.
You would not even play.
This isn't even like a preseason.
This isn't scrimmage.
This is just the offense Looked off.
I could care less.
It's Yeah, but on the flip side of it, like when Baker makes a pass, Toby J and Twitter goes bananas.
I'm just like all right, let's let's temper expectations.
As the Hassles would say, Oh, I just got a tweet here.
It's like Levinger is settling in.
Well, quote from Clev.
Injure on his new home, The Padres.
This is the most exciting team in baseball by far.
Right now, my clothes wait.
Did he really say that? Or was that a burner account? He thought this was from at MLB with a big blue check.
Mike Levinger is buying into the Padres hype, and they built a whole graphic for that particular quote.
So for Joe Wow! Yeah, he five for that break up was quick.
I did see um, our buddy Joe Noga had an article out there about it, and he's talking out Great.
The fans in Cleveland, where I was like well, except for one.
That refloat would not have been great if you would have said for this one was opened for it.
I was open for that would have been on that would have been good for the show.
So Grossi has been out there.
Local media guy.
If you don't know Tony grows.
You're probably blocked by him on Twitter.
He's he's he's going case Keenum over Baker in a lot of the conversations he's having on the radio in his articles, wherever those are, Is he just going full? He'll against Baker Mayfield now, I guess.
Well, yeah, he's coming over to your camp, right? Dave? No.
Come on. Your case over.
You've been salivating over that ever since we got case Love case key just admitted he's a fantastic, fantastic quarterback.
Yeah, I mean, come on, grow sees.
There's no doubt that Grossi lets his personal biases into the way he reports. It's insane.
Just, ah, you know, newsflash there for anybody.
So I'm sure if he's kind of he's kind of like having an internal Colin Cowherd is basically what it is.
He's just playing a little bit of a troll playing his little angle and, ah, you know, gets the fan base all riled up.
Um, come on, Baker's the guy cases, a very competent backup.
And you have extolled the virtues of one case Keenum on this show.
And I agree he's a guy who you need to have two quarterbacks in this league.
And should anything happen to Baker, you that Browns are going to be in good hands.
But in no way do I think that legitimately, that he's gonna win the job over Baker.
I just don't see that happening at all.
Bakers are guy we're gonna win or die based upon what Baker Mayfield does.
And sorry, Tony, despite your personal feelings on that fact, it's going to be big.
Yes, I think cases looked good because our defense does not look very good at all.
But some good news on the defensive side.
Mac Wilson, friend of the show, not needing knee surgery.
He's gonna be back in 4 to 6 weeks.
That is not bad at all.
Veteran of karma leadership as ah what young, early 20 years? One word of those veteran ah linebackers on the team.
I think the big we re Flug bump is alive and well, don't you, Chris? Well, yeah, it certainly worked out for Greg Allen.
He's out in San Diego.
He never came on the show.
That's why that's why.
Yeah, I got a question, cause Leonard, for not God got released.
Talk about a absolute cluster over the tank job.
Who would you rather have run in your team? The Jaguars front office.
Right now. Ray Farmer.
You know, at least the Jaguars front office.
You know which direction they're going in there? Just tanking.
You never quite knew.
Ah, I guess I'll take great farmer.
I'll just give him a little bit of love here for no apparent reason.
Love for Ray Farmer.
That's what that is.
A first on the show.
Ever do things a little differently these days? That's right.
All right, let's move in to do some betting, Chris.
Let's do somebody use promo code every week.
Wear going to break down the weekly Brown's odds and tell you which ones we would take which ones we don't like, and they've got some good ones over in my bookie.
So they got a lot of player props over there, so we can bet once the season starts, how many yards Nick Chubs gonna have? How many touchdowns Baker's gonna have over five? We will.
We'll get into some of those, but the season hasn't started.
So we're looking at the pre season betting odds here.
So Chris Browns have get this the 13th best odds to win the Super Bowl in the top half.
They 30 way long time quitting a long time to be in the top half of the league.
In terms of odds.
Chiefs, Ravens, 40 Niners and the Buccaneers air the favorites.
The Browns have the same odds Is the Vikings and better odds than the Rams and the Texans? That's kind of wild.
All right, Chris, would you take it 32? One Brown Super Bowl.
Plop down some money on there.
You know, I just go ahead and take your mortgage payment, but it who's collected the end of the season you'll be set for years.
You have to put a disclosure on this one.
Here's another one.
So not take any advice from Big Player.
Big play re frogs.
That's right. We have no idea what we're doing.
Seventh Best, UH, odds.
To win the A F C at 16 to 1 and 9 to 2.
Odds of winning the A F C.
North Ravens five and 11 Steeler, 72 They're the only ones with better odds.
Enlarging right there were 19.
Yeah, I mean, that's not that's not crazy.
Out of out of four teams where the Bangles, the Bangles, they don't even get odds.
But no rookie quarterback.
You know, no one wants to put those out because they don't know what he's going to dio.
Would you take that bet? Brown's winning the A F C. North.
Yeah, I'm on board Afriqiyah.
Why not? Why not? And Chris the overall.
We have a lot of variables, but they got these numbers somehow, so that's true.
I always love the preseason bet of the Cleveland Browns.
8.5 is the over under.
The unders hit many, many times over the years, which, if you stay in a way, you're gonna take this one.
I'm pounding the over a pound of the over going Wow, baby, this is our year.
This is our gas.
Once again down.
It's really gonna suck.
If we only play like 10 games.
It really could be hard to hit the number.
It's a season season.
Long bets are going to be kind of tough in a cove.
But we shall see Gabby going over or under 8.
5 in the Browns.
Positivity from the Indians.
Let's see if that positive predict that's the thing.
It's so that's why they have big buildings out there in Vegas.
But, um, you know what? Because it's just so, so odd.
There's, You know, I'm actually going more of just intuition or out here, do it.
Uh, I mean, I'm gonna go over with you, Chris.
Of course, Yes, yeah, because everything has been so weird anyway.
And like what? If you know, like this is, I don't know.
This could be it.
Mike, the Mike Polk theory.
It's like everything's weird anyway, So why not? That's kind of how I feel about it.
You know, almost everything is not perfect, but like we have We have good things.
You know, if people can stay healthy and we have, you know, Kevin stuff and skis leading it's like we have good things.
If we can stay healthy and put it together like it took it crazy.
Who knows? Um, And if we have the season barring, you know, nothing weird with Cove, it interrupts, Then shoot.
Maybe we do go over gabble way.
We're gonna win the Super Bowl.
What if we did? Now? I'm just Blanding.
Now, I'm just going crazy out here.
Why don't No, no, I don't.
Who cares? It's 10 10 at night.
Who cares? Chris, if if you only pick one of those bets, which one would it be to win the A F C North? Really? Yeah.
I think I think I'm with you overall.
How though I could I could definitely see a scenario where a second, You know, a team that doesn't win the A F C North could win the Super Bowl.
I could see that happening because it's a pretty competitive division.
And, you know, I think it's gonna be a strange year.
So that could happen.
Yes, it could. Yes, it could.
All right, So we're gonna be betting all season long.
Join us along at my bookie promo code.
Um, there's gonna be some good ones. Wait.
I did a ton of these.
I think it was Baker's rookie year because you think you can parlay bets on the player's so I'd be like, All right, Baker over 250 yards, Baker over two touchdowns.
Nick Chubb over 100 yards.
And I would just, you know, go complete Fanboy on the on the Browns.
Most hit like God, I want to say, like, three or four weeks, It was like one player off like Jarvis, Landry didn't have enough receptions or something.
You're doing a big Parlak was like $5 were lay with Brown's multiple.
Brown's best in a parlay their so foot.
Oh, that's like Russian roulette right there, man.
Yeah, we're going to do some weird ones.
We're gonna We're gonna get the's going.
All right? Cannot wait.
Multiple bets on the Browns is just Wow, that's out there.
That's hard core, that is.
That's when you start having interventions for people.
I give until week six eighth.
The reason Gap and I had you here because we noticed you've been betting a little bit lately and I think it's turned into a lot.
And a lot of it's going on the Browns right now.
Did you really think the Browns we're going to go over in that last game? This could get really depressing.
We'll see how it gets.
Do you guys want to do stump the flood or what? You want to go to bed? Let's go to bed.
I like that for next week.
Stumped too many.
Chris, give me a bold prediction was Get out of here! Ah, bold prediction.
Are the Cleveland Indians Air going to go six? No.
As I said, who in the next six games starting tonight? They're still up one.
Nothing as we speak.
They banged out three hits through seven innings were on a tear like that Gap.
Um, Chris already kind off hits the Indians won, so I'm gonna do a bold prediction.
Five and one, maybe an individual player.
It So I'm gonna dio I'm gonna dio Raise is going Teoh.
Let's see, in the next six games, I'm gonna say two games from now.
24 R B friend for Animal is gonna hit another three run bomb specific.
Very specific bomb.
So now we will be waiting, and that's gonna happen Two games from now.
He's gonna hit a three run win the ballgame.
That's no, not to win the ballgame.
Just It just hinges.
Just a pedestrian three run bomb on Wednesday is what? You're cool.
Okay, three run bomb from friend Bill on Wednesday.
This is the best one we've ever had.
Yeah, I cannot wait for this bold prediction.
All right, I'm gonna go.
My bold prediction.
Dave, make a note of that so that we remember that it's very specific, so specific.
It is bull and say, three run bomb in the sixth inning.
Whoa, that may or may not matter, because do you don't You don't say whether they win or lose.
They're going to go that far.
We're just gonna stop here, John on Twitter goes now that's a profit.
You make a lot of money on that one in 72 hours at 9.
He's going t o my bold prediction for the week.
Sack is going to pitch a perfect game and totally redeem himself.
And Aaron, deem yourself right.
Talk about bold.
He sees your gap prediction and goes big. That's right.
All right, let's get out of here.
Thanks for tuning in to the big play reflux show.
Thanks for everyone in the comments.
That was super fun.
We will get to stump the Flug next week.
Looking forward to that, Chris is to ah redeem himself.
And we were baseball cards.
We'll see you guys.
And next Monday night at 9 p.m.
One week away from the Browns opener.
Crazy crazy, Thanks to our sponsors, the Shack news.
Thanks to my bookie.
And thanks to Lord Schmidt, some some great updates on the Big 10.
We'll see what happens there.
Go check her out at 614 That's right.
We will see you guys.
Thanks for tuning in.
I don't know. I know
