Welcome to the big play Reef logs show.
Today is Monday, November 2nd 2020.
Big play, Dave alongside my main man, Mr Chris MacNeil.
How are you, sir? Election Eve, Election Eve.
It's all going to be over tomorrow, Dave.
Maybe Maybe sometime over the next few weeks and the one and only sporting to my bookie, Nick Padan.
How are you, sir? Hey, I'm good.
How are you guys? Good.
So first big election for you, right? Yeah. Yeah.
So we've got a good show for you guys tonight.
We're going to kick it off with some power rank Monday.
Our favorite bye week activities Head into the bye week five and three.
Uh, then we will get into our featured interview of the evening.
Former Ohio State linebacker Joshua Perry in the NFL.
Retired Young, excited to talk with him.
Should be a good conversation.
And then we will champion. Yeah.
National Champion, 2014. 15.
We'll get into that as well.
Um, and then we will break down this week's Cleveland Headlines.
Talk about that Brown sloppy loss.
Look, look ahead to second half of the season as we get through the bye week here.
And Chris, the Buckeyes too.
And, Oh, how about that big game this week? Rockers take Yeah, that's right.
A 35 point favorite baby.
Hey, so is Michigan. Check it out.
E think Michigan was like a 23 something favorite.
Had that turnout hardball.
That's right, that we'll get into the big plays of the week sponsored by my bookie, will look at the Buckeyes. Look the Brown.
See if we got on the other ones out there on if we have time.
They stumped the flog.
We gotta make sure we've got time for baseball cards because I get cards again tonight, all right, they're burning a hole in my pocket.
Boys, I'm in. I'm in for that.
Let's get let's get to go on then.
So let's let's get some power on Monday going here.
Oh, power rank Monday.
All right, so it is officially the bye week for our Browns, and we are going to power rank.
Our favorite things to do during the bye week could be whatever you guys want.
Chores, errands, not stressing out whatever you want.
I will kick it off with my number three red zone.
Scott Scott Hansen, Chris Hansen.
I think Scott Hansen, right? Chris is the other guy.
Chris Hansen is the one who's gonna ask you to sit down.
Why don't you take a walking with wine coolers? Parents were going.
What do you think That six pack for? Yeah, NFL Reds Were you looking to do here today, Dave? I just wanna watch Red Zone.
That's what it was inside the 20.
I was looking for Scott Hansen.
But years past, I've watched the first quarter of the Browns and then kind of flip back and forth between Red Zone.
Now it's all Browns.
It's changed a little bit.
So the bye week. I'm looking forward to that.
My number two not losing.
That is a thing of the past.
A little better this year, but you don't have to lose during the bye week and my number one not stress it out.
No, that's no, no stressing out.
Even like a fantasy team and other things going around around league, you can get your guest in the other.
Now you get anxious for that Browns game.
You're like, Oh, God, they're gonna put up 400 yards and then, oh, it doesn't happen.
But yeah, that's that's my number one relaxing.
Very good, Chris.
What? He's very good my number three mentally playing thes scheduled game.
You know, the game where you go through the rest of the schedule and you try and figure out with the Browns records gonna be.
I think we're still looking at double digit wins.
I will take the appropriate amount of time on Sunday to sit down and just in detail, go through each of those remaining eight games.
So I figure out exactly how the Browns are gonna make the playoffs this year, the year of our Lord 2020.
I can't believe our secretary of state was wrong on this prediction.
Yeah, 14 and to Oh, you know, we should call him up.
I don't think he's got anything else going.
What's the deal, man? It was a bad prediction.
You said 14 and two, and they already screwed that up.
Frank, hopefully has a better day tomorrow.
Uh, he's got a big one.
You know what I could do, Dave? What's that? I could take the time.
I normally waste watching the Cleveland Browns waste.
If it's a game like yesterday, I could actually go out on a date like be social.
Yeah, that's not gonna happen.
That's not gonna happen.
Not gonna Maybe a maybe date.
Michael, we got a call.
Yeah, Zoom call.
Maybe right now, no, there won't be any dating.
There won't be any niggling me watching Red zone.
That's the date set on a promo clip of Chris looking for a date this week.
I'm sure that will go wonderfully on Twitter.
My number one e.
How about Buckeyes? You got the Buckeyes on Saturday.
You get to enjoy a little bit of that Buckeye postgame experience going into Sunday.
Hopefully with Rutgers.
It's not gonna be much of a game.
And I could enjoy being at three.
And oh, on Sunday.
And I don't have any of the that bad taste that we had yesterday after another great Buckeyes victory to kind of ruin things for the weekend.
This one, it's just gonna be the Buckeyes.
We can just enjoy all Buckeyes all the time this upcoming weekend.
So I will be doing that day.
That's my number one, Nick.
What do you got for us? Alright, My number three, using my number three as a shameless plug here favorite Bye week activity.
Talking to Bob Vance of Vance Refrigeration Coming on my show Wives on Wednesday by We've done right, if you ask me.
Do you know what that's called? It's called cross promotion.
Yeah, yeah, can of cross promotion.
Where? In the sponsor shirt.
He's just a pro's pro over here.
What was that like? Well, just not not to give anything away.
But you talkto Bob vents fans refrigeration.
Yeah, pretty crazy it was.
How did you find him? Kind of.
Exactly how I expected it to go.
You know, just through some digging that I was able to dio and wait, where do you Where do you do? Said digging.
Yeah, I'm curious.
Like I didn't even start such a dig for this particular one.
I was watching the office, and I was like, What? My Bob bands beyond, man like nobody's heard from that guy and Forever e I found people that have have heard from that guy recently, and I was able to track him down.
Was that your intro before you brought him into like, Hey, what's this guy doing? I had no idea.
All right, here's Here's a quick spoiler before we get into my number two first question to bring him into the show.
I had to ask what line of work he was in had to pull the Ryan Howard there? Yes.
Did he Did he do it well? Oh, yeah, He bet he bet he did it.
Well, so everybody be on the lookout.
Wednesday, Wednesday night at 8.
Shameless self promotion.
Okay, my number two.
Enough of Bob Hand's.
I'm going with the Red Zone as well.
And for fantasy football for daily fantasy sports.
That's something that I don't talk enough about.
But that's a big hobby of mine.
I like keeping up with the other games that happen nationally, even when the Browns are on.
So I'm excited to be ableto pay more attention into some of the other games.
Then just what's going on at one o'clock in Cleveland.
Who is your quarterback? Is your quarterback? Baker.
My quarterback is going right now.
My quarterback is Tom Brady.
I've got drunk on my team, so hopefully you can help Gronk for some major yardage tonight.
You know, another shameless I had a guy on my show that said, Tom was gonna win leagues this year and I was so nervous about that.
And so far he's got me Thio five win record.
What was that? Bob Wiley? No, Bob Wylie gave me zero fantasy advice.
Alright, My number.
Life advice, I'm sure.
Plenty of life advice and made me very late for one of my classes.
Okay, Number one, early holiday shopping.
I don't know if you guys have read it your way too young to be doing this.
No, no, come on.
I don't know if you guys have read anything about this, but I guess Christmas or whatever holiday that you celebrate is going to be a complete but take this year because of cove it and protocols.
And companies like best buy and stuff are having a hard time kind of keeping things on the shelf.
I've seen a couple of articles about, like, it just inventory issues overall, so I'm trying t o.
I never do this.
I'm the guy that's out December 24th tryingto scavenge something up, but I would like this this weekend to kind of just get ahead, jump on it just to make sure that everything's accounted for the way that I wanted to have yourself.
A nice little Saturday.
Yes, that's a Sunday e.
Maybe I don't get that.
No, that's alright.
Uh, yeah, and that is power rank Monday.
What do you say? Let's talk to a former national champion of our our Ohio State Buckeyes.
What do you say? International champion.
Always a national champion, not a former national champion.
He is a national champion.
That is very true.
All right, when we come back, we are bringing on Joshua Perry, National Champion 2015 Buckeyes, uh, and and played in the NFL.
We will be back in roughly.
Chris, how long do you think? 25.
Wow, I'm nervous.
Wow, We have the sounds of paying with your life.
I mean, e I don't know what communication system already on the line.
We've got former Ohio State Buckeye NFL linebacker, broadcaster Realtor.
Mr Joshua Perry.
How are you, sir? Welcome to the big play.
Brief logs show.
How are you? Glad to be here.
We appreciate you taking some time? Um, so right off the bat, we were looking at your your story.
Saw that your your super young guy in the NFL and and called it quits early A 24.
Is that right? Yep.
What? What was that? Was that decision like And how did you kind of ultimately decided to walk that way? Um, you know, it was ah, tough decision, obviously not to be taken lightly.
But health and wellness and longevity was always first and foremost for me throughout my journey.
And so I got to a point where I had to make a critical decision on whether to continue chasing one dream, Um, maybe at the expense of my health, or to call it quits and start a new journey in my life And, uh, you know, felt like it was the best move to transition into something different.
You know, it was a difficult day and, you know, transitions always tough.
But I feel like I haven't looked back sense because I'm doing a ton of cool stuff right now.
So I think I saw you had an interview on I think it was U S A.
Today huge national shows.
Um, you're doing a podcast.
I saw you're doing a lot of Columbus radio type stuff and you're a realtor now.
How is the how is the real estate market? It's banging. It's booming.
Uh, specifically in Columbus to is going crazy.
We got a great economic base here.
Obviously, Fortune 500 companies like nationwide AP.
We've also got the university, which is fantastic.
Great hospital system here, Um, Chase Bank, Whole bunch of different stuff and interest rates are super low, so it's really, really, really inexpensive to borrow money right now.
Um, and to be completely honest, like a apartment, housing and rental is lagging behind the demand and the amount of people that are moving into Columbus.
So it's driving the resale market up dramatically.
So if you're somebody who's looking to buy, it's It's never a bad time because prices are continuing to go up.
And if you're somebody who's looking to sell, it's not a bad time because you probably got some equity and some juice in there.
So I'm loving it here, making, making some decent money doing it, and provides me the flexibility to do the other stuff that I'm into as well that that right there is an awesome elevator sales pitch right there.
Got in all of the major points there.
Well done, Joshua.
Transitioning a little bit talking about the Buckeyes.
You know, obviously the teams playing well this year, they've outscored Nebraska Penn State like 92. 42.
Uh, the the offense is averaging over 500 yards a game.
What? What? When you look at this team right now, do you see any weaknesses on this Buckeye squad? You know, when we start talking about weaknesses with Ohio State, I feel like it is absolutely nit picking.
Um, but if I had Thio, No, I mean it is true, but if I had to look defensively, I would say that you want a little bit mawr consistency in the secondary of the defense, and they're very young players back there.
And so it's to be expected that they're gonna be some hiccups because playing in the secondary, obviously, especially in an aggressive defense like Ohio State runs.
Those guys were on an island and they're expected to do a lot physically.
But mentally it's a challenge because it relies heavily on communication pre and post snap.
Um, and so you want to see a little bit more consistency and you want to see the defense take the ball away a little bit more.
I'm very satisfied with the amount of negative plays that they create their playing behind the line of scrimmage, and I think that's awesome.
I want to see them take the ball away more offensively, you feel like the running backs we have right now.
From what we've seen, aren't guys that will hit a home run.
You know, Master T did a really good job against Penn State in getting yards through the inside of the defense.
You felt like he is a guy who's going to square up a linebacker or safety, which I can appreciate.
But when we're talking about hitting a home run, I don't know if we have a guy like that.
And then if I were to be critical on Justin Fields about just one thing, I don't think he has a fastball, and what I mean by that is he's standing on the far hash.
He's got to get it.
Thio the far sideline on a seven cut.
I don't think he has a zip that a Trevor Lawrence has or even Ah, Joe Milton, who I don't think is half the quarterback Justin Fields is right now.
I think he's got a better fastball.
Michael Panics Junior from Indiana, I think has a little bit of a better, fast fallen Justin Fields.
But he's the guy who makes the offense go.
And I'm like I said, I'm being overly critical because he does literally everything you wanted to do and more eso If if I'm if I am nit picking, which I am nit picking, that's what I That's what I would give you.
So you played on a national championship? Buckeye team? Do you see any similarities between what you see on the field today and the Buckeyes versus those teams that you played on? Yeah, I would say the major similarity is, um, and this was something that my team developed later on in the year, but, um, the ability to just go out there and suffocating opponent and we did it against Penn State in a very sloppy way, like I think we did it two different ways.
So against Nebraska, we came out there kind of got in the group of the game and then second half it was offense, defense, whatever they wanted, they could have it.
You know, defense didn't let up a point.
Offense was just moving the ball everywhere.
I think that against Penn State were a little bit sloppier, especially defensively, with some of those penalties that extended drives and we can't have those.
But it felt like anytime we wanted Thio go get pressure on Sean Cliff.
We were able to do that anytime we wanted to get a TfL.
We could do it offensively if we wanted to convert a third down like it's.
It's one of those situations where Ohio State gets a penalty, so they're in in first in 20 or they're in 2nd and 20.
And I'm not even sweating like I don't worry because they can get yards, however they want it.
And I felt like in 2014 we kind of got to a point offensively toward the end of the year, we're we're getting like, 1st and 15.
I'm like, I'm not really that worried about it and so that's probably the major similarity for me.
How about that swagger toward the end of that season.
You knew, You know, going into the end of that season, e Think all of the commentators were saying you had to blow out Wisconsin.
So you guys do that had beat, Of course, in the playoff you beat Alabama, you beat Oregon.
I mean, what take us through the mentality? Take us through those three weeks? I mean, that was such a magical ride.
You're losing quarterbacks.
You're still maintaining, you know, a mentality to be ableto win in this college football playoff.
Take us through what that process was like, take us through.
Kind of relive those moments as an Ohio State Buckeye for us, E.
I mean, we had been through it all at that point, and and so we've felt like any challenge that was presented in front of us wasn't that big of a deal, you know? Hey, you guys got a blowout? Wisconsin.
I mean, okay, we I mean, we had to do everything right after we lost the Virginia Tech up to this point anyway.
And we had to do with the quarterback who hadn't played a ton of snaps.
And now we're doing it again with the quarterback who hadn't played a ton of snaps like I don't give a ****, Let's go, you know, So whatever the challenge was for us, it was something that we felt like we needed to rise to.
I also think that one of the most underrated aspect of that year is how good of a motivator urban Meyer was and how that really trickled down through the staff to, uh, because our coaches had us ready to go and they knew exactly what our pain points were and exactly what to say to get us fired up.
You know, like we were.
We're getting ready to play Alabama, and the one thing that everybody talked about was all.
You know, I don't know if a team from the big tennis fast enough to keep up, you know, Alabama's got got fast guys and they've got big guys and we're sitting back there like man, this is BS because we got big, fast guys, too.
And so I think it was.
Wisconsin had played Auburn earlier that day and beat him in Wisconsin.
Couldn't run with anybody that that was the narrative for that game.
Eso urban urban sitting there like all right, So if Wisconsin could beat these boys and you know how we just did them, then there's not a chance that we will go down here and lose this game.
And he knew exactly how to get us fired up.
Um, and so I think it was just a combination of a lot of things happening to, you know, where we were self motivated as players, but also our coach was big on the motivation aspect.
And just there was there was no such thing as a challenge that was too big.
You know, that's something I wanted to ask you about.
Joshua was urban and a lot of us Buckeyes fans were a little bit nervous when he decided to step away for his health.
We didn't really know exactly what we had in Ryan Day.
We knew he was a good young, promising coach, but we didn't know if it was going toe live up to the level that Urban Meyer brought to Ohio.
Where are you at with Ryan Day right now? Because it surely seems like he has all the marks and makings of another really fantastic coach.
I mean, Ryan Day is, uh he's in.
It's so early on his head coaching career, but he's nearing elite territory.
And what I mean by that is we saw in the three games sample size what he was able to do when Urban was suspended.
And then he gets the job at Ohio State, and it's not.
It's not an easy job because, you know you have to recruit at the highest level.
There are a ton of media obligations.
Columbus is socially, It's It's a big city with a small town field.
So you have Thio know how to handle yourself socially and not suc***b to all the pressure.
And he's done all those things extremely well.
Andi, He's made the players feel really good about the transition to They all love him.
Um, so that's one thing.
Then you go out on the field and you see the product and he put together a hell of a coaching staff.
And now all those guys are out there doing everything they need to do to be successful, and it seems like he won every game last year.
Uh, you know, uh, enough margin to be impressed.
You know, a lot of double digit wins against some really good teams, takes his his first ever head coaching job to the college football playoff and loses a really competitive game that you feel like they made a couple of mistakes, but they also had a couple of of of calls go against them that you feel like could have put them in that situation.
And now he comes back and you feel like it's even better than it was a year ago when they made the college football playoff.
And it's all of those things.
And then you put all that to the side and realize that Ryan days also a guy calling plays.
And he might be the best play caller in college football right now because the way that he sets up his offense, it was It was the well, how come we don't run more jet sweeps like Why? What are we waiting for? And then we get the jet sweep at Penn State and it goes for 63 yards or whatever and then they're using that same jet motion to set up the inside running game, which we struggled with in Week one and Master T goes for over 100 yards and then you get into 1/4 down.
It's typically a situation where somebody is running a sneak or, you know, you're you're gonna you're gonna run it up the middle, whatever the case is and Ryan days like now screw that.
We're gonna throw it to our tight end on a quarter route and it zlate orally.
It's some of the best play calling I've ever seen, and I've been around really, really great offensive minds.
Tom Herman was a hell of a play caller.
Urban Meyer's whole offense was fantastic, but I look at Ryan Day.
Do it and he's on a completely different level.
Oh, that's refreshing to hear.
You know, as a former player, I know you guys don't like toe. Look ahead.
You know, it's one week at a time when we start to look ahead.
Though We talked about Clemson, Trevor Lawrence was a guy that you mentioned earlier.
Who do you think stands in the way of the Buckeyes in 2020? Winning a national championship? It's It's a three team race and I feel like is it was the same thing last year is you know, like you're kind of jockeying for that number one seed in the playoffs because, you know, whoever the number 14 is, you know, that's an easy dub right off the bat.
Um, and so it's It's Clemson who has a quarterback, and we've seen that.
I don't think they have the white outs that we do.
I don't know if they're old.
Line is where ours is, that they've got a solid defense and a great defensive coordinator who is who has been one of the top d. D.
C s in in college football for years.
And then you've got Alabama and it's the same thing.
I like their quarterback.
He's not Trevor Lawrence.
He's not Justin Fields where he does a good job.
They still have a deep wide receiver corps.
Even with Waddle out, they do a really good job.
Love their running back, their own lines, always solid.
They've got a defense that has good players and their scheme is complex and Nick Saban, it's hard to bet against.
But then you start to look.
Pass that and it's like, Okay, Notre Dame there are fraud.
Um, you know, I honestly, this is probably a hot take here.
Put Notre Dame in Cincinnati on neutral field right now in Cincinnati.
Beats and I don't know if it's close, you know that.
I was gonna ask you. About what? Cincinnati.
Yeah, they might.
They might be the fourth best team in America right now, and I'm not afraid to say that.
And But what that tells you is that there is such a separation, and it goes back to recruiting between Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson and the rest of college football.
They have extracted all of the talent out of all the second tier schools toe where it's not even like we look at the Big 10 schedule.
And it's the same thing Clemson does when the A C C schedules released.
There is not one game on the schedule that they look and they say, Oh, man, I'm worried about this one.
That's when win win, Jack, Jack, Jack Like that's it.
Oh, man, that's that's incredible.
So yesterday I have to ask you about this.
We're riding the high right now, but yesterday the Browns really let us down here in Cleveland.
Joshua, it was, ah, horrible game.
They invented a new word that's called Graham away, where it's rain snow, sleet, all of that coming down at once.
And they're Everyone knew the Raiders were going to run and they kept running as a linebacker.
Were you ever in a position like that where men way just can't stop These guys And one of the Browns do here because that that line back in group looks like they need some help.
So the Browns, definitely in the middle of their defense, they're struggling.
I mean, I don't know their secondary struggles to, but, um, they don't have a guy at linebacker, and that's an issue.
Um, when we played Michigan State in 2015 that was probably the poorest game that I played.
It was, Ah, very forgettable game.
I I'd like to look past that stage in my career, but that was a situation for us, is a defense and specifically is a linebacker core where Michigan State needed three yards that we get 3.5.
You know, it was like when we needed to come up with the stop.
We couldn't do it.
And so I know what that situation feels like when the team is just running and you you feel like you're getting there.
But you're, you know, like you just you're not getting the stuff.
Um, it is difficult, but I am a believer, and it's probably because I'm a former linebacker that when you're building a defense, structurally, you need to have guys on the edge.
So, like pass rushers number one, you need one guy in the interior of the D line.
I don't think you really need to.
And then you need solid linebackers.
You don't necessarily need guys who are gonna be game breakers, but you need dudes who can run and hit and hit and run.
And if you can, If you can build that, you can build off the rest of the defense.
You need a couple of guys, probably in the secondary.
You know, safety, who's got a little bit of range and then obviously a lock down corner.
But you feel like if you've got linebackers who can run and hit, hit and run, they can communicate well and get the defense set, and they can anticipate what's coming.
You solve some issues there, and I feel like the Browns just they don't have that guy.
Well, Joshua, we don't want to take up your whole night.
We know you got Monday night football on.
You got your canes. They're fantastic.
Columbus spot that's sneaking its way here into the Cleveland area to anything.
Anything that you wanna plug before we let you go.
Hey, before you put in your plugs, I just got a text from somebody who said this.
This guy is my favorite guest ever.
Notre Dame is the biggest fraud loving Notre dame.
I'm telling you now, there's some real frauds.
I've got nothing to plug.
Except for this.
This is very important.
So all of their early voting is past Doesn't now? I went and voted early in person.
I know a lot of people have dropped off their ballots that went toe the boxes I mailed him in, Whatever the case is, tomorrow.
Still, we need people to get out there if you haven't already, Please vote.
Um, and just from a historical standpoint, a lot of people had to fight to get to this point where they could vote on the opposition of that.
There were people who were fighting against your ability to go and vote.
There were poll taxes.
There were literacy tests.
There were, you know, voter intimidation, all these different things.
There have been obstacles that we have overcome, and we're to the point where it's very accessible for a lot of people to be able to do it.
Tomorrow is the last day.
Do it in person. Whatever it takes.
Don't care who you vote for, but exercise that right because it's sacred.
People have fought against your ability to do so.
Is that important? Go into it.
Wow. What a wait.
What a way to end.
Thank you so much, man.
We appreciate the time.
Absolutely great stuff from Joshua Perry.
Go get a follow on Twitter at r I p underscore.
We will talk to you soon.
Round of applause for Joshua Perry.
He was playing town. No.
How about that? We have the Secretary of State on to talk football.
Then we have Joshua Perry on to talk. Voting.
I mean, that's just the way the show works, right? Yeah.
Yeah, That's a good message.
He had me all pumped up until Nick had that.
Go and ask him about the Browns.
Hey, have me riding the high talking about all the Buckeyes and reliving his national championship and get me all high on this team and talking crap about Notre Dame.
And then Nick's got to come in there with the Browns.
Question. Well, he gave me optimism.
He gave me optimism.
That's true way.
Have a cover corner, though, Chris, and that's true. That's true.
Keep building it.
Bring the positivity back because we are talking about our holiday giveaway for a family in need.
Probably a few families.
Ah, friend of the show, John is he brought this idea to us.
He wants to help out families around Thanksgiving pay for that Thanksgiving meal for for anyone who needs it.
So if you know someone or you're you yourself, you know, is kind of struggling.
Sent a d m to the big play re flog show Twitter handle for your chance to win a free dinner.
And I think we're gonna be given away.
Ah, a few of those so good stuff from John and we'll get some tweets out this week.
Thio to kind of promote that great idea.
Now let's talk some Cleveland headlines Cleveland Bread Perhaps? Yeah, I say, Let's go with headlights in 321 launch.
Launch the head.
So let's let's start with the Buckeyes.
Start with some optimism to and out.
We talked about it beating Penn State, 39 25.
Justin Fields averaging almost 300 yards a game.
Six touchdowns, zero picks.
Chris, do you think he can win the Heisman Onley playing eight games? He may play more games than Trevor Lawrence when it's all sudden that things were going right.
That is true, right? Everybody was saying, Oh, he shouldn't win a Heisman if even if he plays well because they didn't play a full schedule.
Well, now you're gonna have to eat some of those words of Trevor.
Lawrence keeps missing ballgames, but he's just been incredible.
He throws so accurately.
I mean, if you if you take out those drops, he's near perfect on the season.
Still, it's just unbelievable, and, uh, and this is an exciting team to watch.
I think they could be something special.
I think their biggest opponent throughout this year a t least until they get to the playoff, is gonna be covert.
They're gonna have to make sure that there that they stay away from any issues there.
And if they could do that, I think we're in for magical run.
Harking back Thio Joshua's team back in 2014 and 15 because this could be fun.
How fun would that be? Yeah, we need it.
We do, man. Yeah.
Now let's talk some browns because, yes, it was.
Ah, it was a crappy game.
Super windy, messy, sloppy game.
What was the term again? I think it was Grumble something grapple.
Grapple, I think. Yeah.
What was it? 16 to 6.
Nick, what's your take on this game? Who do you put the blame on for the loss and kind of going forward here? Well, my take on this game is we looked like the West Coast team that flew into the A F C North to play because the Raiders came in just better prepared they out tough.
The Browns, that's my biggest take away was you lost this game up front, Jed.
Rick Wills, in the three games that you lost, has played really poorly.
He graded out horribly today when you look at the Pff stuff and then three false starts, by the way, well done.
And he and typically even in the winds, he's good for forgetting the snap count at least once a game.
But thankfully, Baker or Cream 100 Nick Chubb have been able to get out of those holes.
But he is good for a penalty at least once a game, and that was his red flag coming out of colleges.
Well, I hate to bring that back up, so I just think you lost this game in the front.
Same with the defensive line.
It was by far the least impressive performance and overall kind of disappointing because I'm watching on my TV right now, another NFC East team that's playing a physical brand of football and they're winning a team that could possibly.
You know, some people think I don't personally could go to the Super Bowl so anything could happen on any given Sunday.
We saw that this week the Vikings beat Green Bay, who saw that coming Tennessee beats are since he beat Tennessee and saw that coming Any given Sunday goofy stuff in the NFL and we fell victim to that on Sunday.
Dave, Do you know what? Actually looks good, though, Um, this sound weird to say, but I thought Baker actually looked pretty good outside of those huge three drops.
I think we had, like, five or 6555 but yeah.
You think he'd catch one of those? That last one? That was tough.
The Joker was tough, but outside of that, I mean, he looked pretty good.
He only only had six possessions, right? Like, what was the time of possession? Yeah, we had six drives.
We had six drives total.
It's just it's just messed up.
You know, we needed to run the ball, and we need to run the ball consistently.
And we could We couldn't do it.
We just could not get over the hump.
Its's very frustrating.
I like some of the rollouts of baker because we had space on the sides whenever we would do that.
Yeah, he started the game with a bootleg.
Yeah, Yeah, the little bootlegs. Little rollouts.
Um, but you've got to be able to at home in conditions that you've gotta learn to play in.
You've got to be able to control the ball game, and we did the exact opposite.
We let ourselves get controlled.
I mean, the Raiders were ableto just hog the ball the entire time and just run it down our throats, and there wasn't much we could do about it.
That's that's really frustrating in a game that you know, it's not a must win, but this is a win that that we should have had.
And this is this really would have put us set up in a great spot with two weeks, uh, here to prepare for the Texans, which we probably only need a few days hopefully to prepare for.
But it would have left a better taste in everybody's mouth, just just going out and getting the job done going into two weeks.
Yeah, I have that time of possession as well, and it's about as ugly as you would have expected.
Raiders had the possession for 37 minutes Brown's 22 minutes and only had the ball on offense six times.
You're not gonna win many football games like that.
No, If you drop passes and you don't move the chains, there's you have no chance and Christie, do you chalk this up to just sloppy play, or do you think this is a bigger issue? We We don't have the line to go against, uh, of 500 team.
You know, I'm not gonna g o to the extremes on this one.
I think this is a sloppy game.
I think this is a bad game.
This was a setback game, but this is a team.
If you back up a little bit through half, the season is in a pretty good spot.
So this could be, you know, Kevin Stefanski, young coach.
A great opportunity for him to rally the troops. Go.
Hey, you know, this is a bad game.
We're not going to sit here and hang our heads for two weeks.
What we're gonna do is we're gonna prepare for the Texans Were get ready for the second half of the season.
We need we know we've got the Steelers.
We've got the Ravens, we need to go out, and we need to play well in those games.
Now, you don't wanna look too far ahead, but when you're looking at the Games is a bunch.
If they could come out and and really play the type of ball that we know that they're capable of.
This team's a playoff team.
This team is a playoff team and I don't wanna lose that.
I don't get sidetracked because of some nasty game.
We just played against the Raiders when if we just do what we're supposed to do for the rest of the season, we're gonna be in the playoffs.
And that's where I look for Stefanski toe.
Have the upper hand over, Let's say, a kitchens from last year.
I have a lot more confidence in Stefanski being able to right the ship in the middle of the season and get us going.
Run once again and pick up when we get to the tax ins.
If I don't think we will ever lose a game again when we only punt twice.
Yeah, isn't that crazy? How about this? Speaking of punks, kind of Ah, disgusting stat.
Thio that comes out of this one.
The Browns haven't have forced one punt total in their last two games.
So when that turnover Magic ran out and it ran out yesterday, this defense is Yeah, bad.
Yeah, I'll tell you.
Here's ah bright spot.
Olivier Vernon finally showed up.
What? You have to ***.
Second, possibly his last game is a brown, perhaps perhaps.
Oh, this is Ah ha.
What he got over here, Nick.
I don't know if it's hot take or inside of that.
So that's something that's been discussed.
No, that's coming from Jake, Trotter said that that could be a name. You know.
He's just one of those edge rushers that's aging, and he's on the last year of his deal, so it could be a smart move.
After watching the defense is the whole yesterday, I think they just need toe Key Posse's many defensive players that have any sort of a pulse for these final eight games.
I don't know if I'd be willing.
Thio, you know, shell out Vernon for just picks at this point to a contender.
But were the Brown showcasing Olivier Vernon yesterday? But they could have put him in position against the third string right tackle? Maybe.
Why not swing Garrett over to that side? Actually, like Art Avery, we showcased him and then traded him immediately when he looked decent.
Yeah, by the way, a Gerard Avery, a guy that didn't fit the system.
You know, like, what is the system? I'm so sick because Joe would system was not good yesterday.
And Joe would system was oh, boy getting gashed and staying in the zone until the goal line stand.
That drove me crazy.
I'm not gonna trust any news on Olivier Vernon getting moved until I want sir yachts.
He's getting He's getting Tauron apart today.
Tonight as the show is going on.
I mean, unless he tweets it.
I don't believe e uh, But Nick, I mean, do you working? Which we first nuggets here in a few months? Yeah, way.
Go right back to his roots.
Maybe he should stick to nuggets and maybe not breaking news.
Leave back after I believe the nuggets to sir you.
Come on, you're you're not driving down to get a Michael Thomas Brown's jersey tomorrow? Not yet.
But, Nick, do you Do you wanna be one of these? These teams that make all these trades at the deadline because you've got a guy look like Jacob Phillips.
You got a guy like Grant Del Pitt who you haven't seen yet.
Do you really want to go out there and make thes trades that might be good for a year and not kind of stick with the process.
I know the defense is awful, but what do you want to really dio process? It is a problem, right? That's the That's the thing.
And fans fans don't want to hear this because it's the same junk that we've heard all of our existence of being a Browns fan is, well, we just got to sit and wait.
Well, we got to see how the draft pans out.
Well, the city is sick and tired of sitting and waiting because we finally thought we had a good team last year and we had to sit and wait throughout that garbage.
But seriously, when you look at the players that got traded today, right Desmond King for 1/6 round pick I know Browns fans were really aggravated about that.
Well, here's the truth about Desmond King one.
Drew Rosenhaus is his agent.
So any hopes of resigning Desmond King after those eight games, you could take those hopes and you could throw them right out the window because Desmond King would be an eight game rental, and then why would you do that, Dave, Like you said, because you have Denzel Ward is your for sure.
See one and then we haven't seen greedy Williams.
Why **** off Terrence Mitchell, who is a veteran corner on an expiring contract that could You could definitely return for a cheap, veteran depth piece next season.
You know, you probably don't want him being your second starting quarterback, but if somebody goes down money, Mitch is a very valuable option.
So fans get themselves so worked into a shoot because oh, a sixth round pick.
What do you mean? Andrew Barry couldn't have gave up 1/6 round pick.
These ****ytics guys, they care about these pics too much? No, there's a little bit mawr that goes into it than just the sixth round pick.
And I think that's where a lot of people work themselves into a shoot today, Nick breaking it all down.
That's right, Nick.
Let's break down some bets for the week.

Begin your winning season exclusively at my bookie.
Who? That's a long read.
It's a long read.
Give me a bottle of water s.
So let's look at the Buckeyes of Ohio State.
Chris, you mentioned it earlier.
Rutgers this Saturday night.
Buckeyes 37 a half point favorites.
You think they could put up 40 over blackout blackout for Scarlett? Oh, come on, Come on.
Do a blackout or white out or whatever.
What do you think? 40? Oh, man, I don't know.
That's that's a big number right there, Z, I'm gonna I'm gonna turn it over to my intern here.
What do you think? That spread on Ohio State? Rutgers 37.
5 in Ohio State cover on Saturday.
Didn't Didn't Rutgers.
Didn't Rutgers beat Michigan State, though? Yeah, but it's Rutgers, Dave.
Michigan State beat Michigan powerhouse team.
Hey, Indiana's too.
And remember, don't forget that.
You know, they're not gonna cover.
Noah says they're not gonna cover.
He's a real downer over here. I'm gonna say they cover.
I'm gonna say they cover.
I'm gonna go against my intern Me verse Noah hashtag me verse.
No, I say we got it. We cover.
We're going to squeak by by like, 21.
NFL season Before it began, the Browns win over Under was 8.
5 halfway through.
Are you wishing you took the over? I did take the over, and I'm very satisfied that I did so because I used my bookie use promo code big play, and I got the over.
Dave, when you look at this schedule way, play Jacksonville, play Philly, or you said when you guys said we play Houston, Come on.
Because there's your eight.
There's your eight right there.
You gotta win one more game.
And this is a team that Chris said is going to the playoffs.
I'm not hitting the panic button at all.
5 was perfect then, and it still is now.
So let's show our range with this one. The Columbus Crew.
Chris, let's break down.
Some crew are half year right up here.
Half a goal underdogs against the Orlando City.
Is that the T? I don't know about this Wednesday.
Are Jimmy Haslam's guys going to be able to pull this off? Well, I don't know if you know this, but they won yesterday.
Did you see that? I did.
You know what? I actually missed the best team in the league.
So Jimmy Haslam had a split yesterday.
Are we talking soccer? We're talking soccer, my friend.
So? So, yes, he lost in his Browns, and then he won with the crew, and I'm going to say that the Columbus Crew are going to go and they're gonna cover against Orlando City.
You know, I don't like Orlando City's defense.
I think that they could be exposed, and I could see this Columbus Crew.
You know, I could see them putting it together in offensive surge and really taking it to Orlando.
So I got I pound the over with Columbus crew.
Let's go crew hashtag save the crew.
That ground game that bad that we're breaking down soccer? Absolutely.
We're going toe has some Southern.
Yeah, Chris, we even talked about this much.
The masters is almost here.
Can you believe that? That's weird.
I'm gonna dig that.
You know what it it kind of reminds me of.
And I don't know if you remember this, there used to be, and in Thanksgiving or around Thanksgiving time was the Skins Game.
And it used to be a big deal back in the day, and that would be in November.
And that was like the big golf thing that people would look forward to and that fell off in popularity.
They tried to revive it a few times, and it really just never came back.
Um, but now you've got golf.
Obviously, Now this is a major, which is the next level, but it's really cool toe have it in November, especially after the year that we've had have something like this kind of unique toe look forward to.
I know ESPN is going to do a game day.
Did you see this at Augusta? Very cool.
Which which could be really cool.
I'm really digging that.
So, yeah, I'm looking forward to this bad boy.
We have some odds on the golfers.
Who do you think is the favorite? Chris? Who would you bet on? You follow this closer than me and Nick, who is your favorite? Dustin Johnson would be my my pick right off the bat.
He's long off the tee.
He's been playing pretty well this season.
I'd see him probably is a favorite who they got listed.
They've got Rory, John Ron, who has been phenomenal.
He's been phenomenal to.
He's the other guy who had a have up there, and Bryson DeChambeau de Shambo de Shambhu Tamang, long hitter off the tee.
He's the favorite, allegedly allegedly can hit the ball like 400 in the air.
But here's the most slap double face, absolutely very punishable face as well, so that makes him perfect as a golfer.
Either love him or you hate him, but he's been playing some **** good Gulf.
So he'll he'll definitely be up there, No doubt.
What about Zach Johnson? Zach Johnson? Dustin Johnson will beat Zach Johnson.
I I think you're probably right.
But Zach Johnson plus 22,500 So you put a small waited on on that is Tiger.
Do we have the odds on Tiger? Do you have those sitting in front of you? Plus 1,000,001? But $1 won a million dollars.
Unlikely? Unlikely, but and there's always you always have to look for two.
There's always one old guy who sneaks in there.
The Masters, you know.
You see, for years it was like Freddy Freddy Couples in there, you know? Maybe.
I mean Phil, maybe being up there, he's now kind of falling in that category, being an older guy.
So maybe fill kind of fills those that role here.
But look for an older guy to make some noise because there's always somebody who knows that course.
Augusta is one of those that the older guys have the advantage of having played it for years and years and just kind of knowing the course.
And there is a value to that.
So look for somebody to be up there not to win, but to be up there late.
Whatever happened, Thio, Uh, what was his name? Jordan Spieth. Speak.
Speak Jordan where he has to be the next time.
Done much out of Texas? Yeah.
He came on like gangbusters a couple of years ago, One off time and then completely fell off.
You don't see him around, Uh, the other.
I thought you were going to come up with his Ben Curtis from Central Ohio, and he's since retired.
It must be nice to be able to retire in, like, your early thirties sport.
He was a Kent State golden flash up there, won the British Open years ago.
Went to Buckeye Valley here outside of Columbus, and I actually played against him.
He beat my ass, but, uh, and he's retired, and I'm doing the show with you guys.
So that's the post script on that.
Here's a question for you guys.
What do golfers do when they retire? Because isn't that what normal people? Yeah, he's probably a starter at the golf course.
Well, if you're anything like Jack Nicholas.
You build golf courses and I guess support Trump last week.
Yeah, All right.
That was a good tweet on your behalf, Azan.
Undecided voter was waiting to see Really waiting for that.
What? Jay Cutler and Jack.
Nicholas, We're gonna endorse that.
That really cleared things up for me.
How about a little pump? Did the little pumping? Yeah, I saw that one.
Oh, man, This this talk about silly season at this point, could we just get this election over with? No kidding.
What do you want to do, Chris Stump the flog or baseball we wanna play baseball cards is what we want to dio.
I know. I'm gonna get beat a baseball card.
Actually, I could be a flog.
No, it's gonna be It's gonna be close.
We're going to do it.
Okay? We'll do it next week.
Hold it on for next week cause I got baseball cards right here.
I've got upper deck 1990.
I got Fleer 1990.
The Fleer I just opened because I forgot that I should offer it up to you before I didn't even look at the card. That's in the back.
Yeah. Go, Flair.
We're gonna go with the flare, Okay? We're gonna have Noah is going to be our judge, Noah 1990.
You remember that season? Very well, right? So the first thing you've got Dave is the Fleer baseball quiz.
And then we've got outfielder marquees Chris so that it's starting off strong.
Former Cleveland Indian.
I didn't realize he played for the exposed.
Must have been before the Braves.
Yeah, for for quite some time, I think.
Darnell Coles? No, Matt Williams.
Also a Cleveland Indian there.
I've got two keepers.
Mark Lemke, Willie Randolph from the Dodgers.
Oh, here you go.
Oh, get out of here, Ricky.
Stealing a base.
Oh! Oh, here you go.
From the New York Yankees.
Also your Cleveland Indians, Eric Kerplunk.
Oh, God! Keep going.
You plus last name baseball.
Your last kerplunk.
It's just plunk the You don't know who Plunk is due Plunk is like he was the Earth plunk.
The equivalent of like Shaw for you, I guess.
Sometimes that is good from the Ranger Cecilio Gwon Tae. He was a picture.
Pete Inc Velia Remember the name Cheryl Evans? He sounds like he's a coach these days.
Oh, we've got a dual card.
Delino DeShields senior alright And Jason Grimsley.
That's a good card, do we? Jason Grimsley? Do you remember Jason Grimsley's claim to fame with the Cleveland Indians? No, He's the guy who crawled through at old Comiskey Park.
He climbed through the Ducks to go get Albert Belle's bat back.
That was Oh, that's a phenomenal story.
Yeah, Yeah, that was Jason Grimsley.
Uh, we got Todd Zeal.
We got Mike Benjamin.
Alright, I am going.
Matt Williams and Ricky Henderson.
Okay, Matt Williams.
I pulled out marquees Grissom for you, so I'll go back.
I'll pull out Ricky Henderson.
So Rickey Henderson.
Matt Williams versus I am now opening up the upper deck.
Those were the best cards back in the day.
I loved upper deck cards.
I don't know how many cards in this pack, so I may have a smaller pool to pull from.
I've got Darren Jackson.
No, Jeff Robinson.
No, I got a check list.
That's my best card so far with the checklist.
That's a starter.
We've got Vance Law from the Cubs who wears specs.
I may keep them just for the specs.
Andy Mccaf Agan.
Who can forget him? Another checklist.
So I've got to check list so far, but that up against anybody.
Tom Henke from your Blue Jays.
Dan Gladden from the Twins.
Ah, hologram off the A's Julio Franco there. Ugo.
You're on the board, Frank.
He's the compliment to Rickey Henderson.
Both played forever for 50 teams.
You? Probably both.
They're probably both in the single A somewhere Julio is playing in Japan right now.
Harold Reynolds on.
How did this happen with the Yankees? Eric Kerplunk.
So we both got Eric Plunk for the Yankees.
Just throw them both out.
Kelly Downs and Pete O Brien of the Cleveland Indians.
Do remember Pete O Brien.
First baseman and Gerald Young and then another checklist.
My third checklist.
Who is your second? I don't know.
I got Julio Franco and I've got Oh my gosh, Eric Plunk.
Harold Reynolds, I guess, is gonna have to be Harold Reynolds.
I mean, wow, Harold Reynolds.
It is Harold Reynolds, Harold Reynolds, Julio Franco versus Ricky Henderson and Matt Williams.
Who you got no, uh, Henderson and Williams.
That would be you.
Circle gets the square.
Thank you, Thank you.
I'm back toe winning.
That was a rough one when you pull out and Eric Plunk from two different stacks.
That stuff? Yeah, that's rough.
You want to do a very quick stump? The flog? Oh, sure, I'm on a roll, Dave.
Feeling it, baby? We're bringing a fantasy team Lost my browns lost.
I just lost a baseball cards.
What could go wrong? Because we are going to talk.
While Serbia Oh, we're gonna We're gonna go pretty easy here, although never easy When you're on the spot, stump the flog back and forth.
Chris, do you want to go first or defer? I'll go first.
Name all the schools in the Mac by me of Ohio.
Kent State University.
They go all the models first.
Well done. Correct.
B g s u all right.
The University of Akron.
Correct and correct.
How about the quarterback that we had.
That was a huge deal on hard knocks.
Oh, you bobcats, baby.
That's right. My safety school.
Everyone say Wow.
Uh, me to actually, I'll g o Western Michigan. Correct.
Is this Is this Mac wrestling too? Because I could have a wild card.
What? There's a different There is a max school that sneaks in.
I think we're only We're down to two schools.
I'll give you guys a fun fact after that.
Um, the confidence is just exuding off Nick right now.
Yeah, not really.
Five seconds to one, Missouri wrestles in the Mac survey dio all right? And the winner is Mr Brief Log himself.
He is back, baby.
I love my max and baby.
Well done shows.
That was good, Theo.
Only ones you guys missed.
I believe Northern Illinois.
Oh, my My cousin went there till we're gonna hear about that.
Buffalo Did anybody but Chris Buffalo go fall State Ball State And I know that was I had I had Ball State, I was ready for that.
That's David Letterman's.
I just watched all of his shows on Netflix.
I hear That's really good. Yeah, it's really, really good.
I recommend it if you haven't seen it.
I didn't even know that was a thing.
Mizzou does wrestling.
No, no one cares.
November 12th and 13th is the master's gentlemen who I am.
Ready? Yeah, baby Nick.
Bold prediction time.
You know, we're going to need a bold prediction from Oh, brother True E Nick.
What do you got already? So we know election is tomorrow.
We heard it from to not give us an election prediction.
Oh, it's a good one, Chris.
You want to hear this one? We heard from Frank LaRose.
We heard from Joshua Perry.
It's going to be a presidential tie tomorrow.
First time in 220 years when Thomas Jefferson and I'm taking down Aaron Burr after some weird stuff went to the House of Representatives to become the third president of the United States.
A dual would be awesome.
A Biden Trump duel for the presidency.
How great would that be? That's a run off.
I want to see 2020 e for the cost way.
That's the best way to go out in 2020 have a press incident.
That would be fantastic, Chris.
Does Noah have a bold prediction for us? Noah, do you have a bold prediction for us? Andrew Barry makes a huge move.
How? Who? Huge And what position? Home.
Oh, he's gonna package Odell Beckham.
He can't move. Odell.
This year you can You can.
Okay. All right.
To the Patriots for Stephen Gilmore.
XCar yacht called.
Yeah, he's echoing.
He's echoing a little yacht over here.
You got there I want to really know about.
The real no Bible prediction.
I'm just I'm gonna go reverse.
Noah, The Browns are gonna do absolutely nothing.
I think that's very bold.
I think it's bold.
They have to do anything.
That defense is bad.
I know, but this is the browns.
I mean, I I really don't expect them to go too far off script.
I mean, really, ****ytics say you don't make many trades in the NFL.
You need a Ronnie Harrison type deal.
Tomorrow you give a round pick for a younger dude with a lot of upside.
I'm prepared to do nothing.
And that was bold predictions Alright. Thanks.
Everyone for tuning in tonight.
Appreciate everyone in the comments.
We had a few more donations out there.
Uh, Jared and Cam putting money into the pool there.
So awesome stuff.
And we will see you next Monday.
Buckeyes shout out to shock news my bookie and our guest, Joshua Perry.
And we'll see you next Monday night.
Do you need medical attention? Yeah.
What? What is wrong? I don't know.
I know that **** back.
