is Matt Brooks talking? All things MBA, How are you on ah, Friday, Friday through.
I'm good getting ready for holding to basketball this afternoon.
The will be their nets are on, which is gonna be great.
Um, we finally got a deadweight Joe Harris out of the beyond That this could be big.
I don't think the interesting man, you know, big Big Spy late on Tyler Johnson who was already, like, they're only capable sick may.
And now he's, um Now they have players who can play basketball.
So he's right. Yeah.
So? So that's good days.
I I'm excited for jazz nuggets. I can't lie.
It's been very back and forth.
Um, you know, the jazz really put their foot down.
I think go bare has been super surprising.
Like I'm I'm way into this go bare thing.
I'm very excited to see how he looks.
Mitchell's very fun to watch.
Arguably the most one player to watch in the playoffs so far, He's taken the dawn.
The Damian Lillard spot so far, who was the seeding game star? But I'm good, man.
It was Ah, good, good bunch of games yesterday.
Not great, but good.
Yeah, and it's nice how at least those like you talked about that.
That jazz Nuggets game will be exciting.
We know even the Celtics 76 years one.
I'm getting closer to formality stance on that Syriza so.
But at least we'll get the Clippers on the map a little later.
And that will be, you know, obviously, if it feels like Hey, Babs, if you want to keep trending up here in this series, you almost have to win game number three just so that you have the ability to sustain a typical Kawai 100 PG kind of performance and the defense and everything else that they probably are going to at some point.
Judea in that Siri's? Yes, sir.
Oh, it's funny with the Celtics, six years, one real quick.
It's not even becoming a story about the cell tower like the Celtics of all our other playing, it's all just about how dysfunctional the Sixers are.
Um, I know there's a streaming website, so to bring up reading is probably a little weird, cause I don't know if people read anymore.
But Cal knew Beck of the Philly voice did like just a a scathing Sixers article like You don't see that too often from beat reporters anymore, where they just like they just go in every single level of the organization.
And so I had to recommend that cause as somebody who writes myself, I know that that has got to be super nerve wracking to put out because the team can, you know, ah, basically ban you and send you to the gulag When your what your bread and butter is having quality relationships there may be running hot.
We could find out that that particular writers actually picking up a new beat that wants somewhere next season.
But even that's reporter.
I mean, honestly, And on the 70 Sixers, it's funny cause somebody and I want it.
I caught it through him there.
But the idea of, like, you know, you had dysfunction.
You turned it over.
You were tanking in the bottom of the league, didn't want that.
So they removed the GM.
You bring in someone new.
Now you get to Elton Brand, but you still have this lay over there.
Still, these layover packages of them.
The coach is still not necessarily the guy that somebody wanted or anybody wants.
Yeah, players air next fast.
So it's weird that they still are up.
Product of the trust, the process era.
But they're no longer how much Trust in anything.
What is there to trust? Uh ah, so weird.
There were team.
Yeah, it's 20 last thing on the six before we get on this.
It's funny that Al Horford contract looking at it, you'd be like, That's definitely worse contract in the league.
They've actually have done it with it.
Tobias Harris One.
I mean, what an absolute atrocious steal.
A complete disaster.
He came to fend.
He's not a go to scorer, so I just I mean, I feel bad for six years fans, I really dio That sucks.
So they're there, right on the edge of of needing to do some serious tearing down around Arguably Onley. Indeed.
I don't know what I mean.
Dio they are screwed.
They can change the coach.
Great! Wonderful! Those pieces still don't fit.
You could bring in Nick nurse, and he won't be able to figure this out like this is a mess.
So anyway, that will be so enjoy that later on the other side of things, we talked about the Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazers.
Siri's neither one of us willing to overreact too much from Game one and four, a Lakers team that was seventh in the MBA during the regular season.
Defending against the three pointer that seem to come to the surface in last night's game is they really took this thing wired a wire, were we're pretty dominant from the start.
But the other thing that you called for, I think a lot of people have obviously scratched their head about was Anthony Davis play at the five? They got a constant minutes at the five, and the impact is so far reaching its not just about that.
He's good, really bested the five.
But it's the fact that then, athletically, he has an advantage over Nurkic taking him off the dribble if he wants to.
And he obviously could.
Still hold is on the defensive end.
Just I mean, what's the what's the affirmation here from last night? Yeah, if you play about the five, he doesn't shoot jumpers like he posts up and you they're screwed like I'm sorry like they got when Wen Yun Gabriel, somebody, I'm going that name right? Like that.
Like a few. Yeah.
Not gonna be able to guard Anthony Davis in the boats.
Not gonna happen.
He's, like, £20 to like the I like him.
He's a good a good concept.
I'm like writing for them to put in a seer.
Little on their like, just get crazy and put whoever because right now, the Anthony Davis thing is a problem.
I'll say this about the Lakers.
Look, man, um, I like that they put Jrn.
He took nine threes.
I don't care if he makes something go one for nine. Wonderful.
He's taking threes.
That's huge with him.
I actually think that might be the move for them, the syriza, maybe any Siri's, which is like, I guess why you bring him aboard.
I still don't believe in them that much like they will.
I think they'll probably win this.
Siri's unfortunately like I.
I want the Blazers to give them a run for their money.
The issue for me is like the Damian Lillard injury really like, if that's I know, it's just a dislocated finger.
But if it affects his shooting like that's such a drag if that affects those, like 35 ft bombs that he likes to take. Yeah.
I mean, you just makes you feel like that inside.
It just makes you feel gross.
You're like, ah, really wanted to see this.
I want to see that from Damian Lillard that at least like to watch with those games. Come on.
Um I mean, listen, there's not I would say there's a ton of takeaways from this.
The Lakers are strong defensive team, and if you can prevent, we highlight this last time we talked.
Carmelo Anthony has a very quiet night in this one ends up being combined Now.
Obviously, little Lulu does get hurt there in the third, but 33 points from him, Mellow and McCullum.
That's the lowest they've ever combined for in the bubble since they've gone down there, and that just feels like again product of strong defense.
You can throw the injury as well, but it just it's weird, man.
The thing that excites you about understanding that Portland doesn't really have ah, strong defense if approach to games it's weirdo at the MBA is predicated on the perimeter shot.
And yet, when it comes to playoff time.
The stronger defensive teams tend to be able to at least stymied that effort from from a lot of oppositions.
Not all of them, but I just.
It's a very interesting dynamic that the league is built around, and yet playoff basketball is still something different than what you do during the regular season.
I still like the three point shooting teams.
I don't know what it is like this bubble thing.
I I don't want to, like, fluctuate too much from game to game, like I the problem right now.
Is it like the Blazers and the Magic? Just like the magic looks awful.
Yes, I watched that came.
I was like, This is I got to figure out something better to do right now like this is there and like the same thing with the Blazers, like, yeah, the Blazers.
They were do, but they were do.
They were due to have a bad game.
They've been playing way, way above the water.
He CPI was like knocking down every shot he got.
So whatever you take the loss, it's fine.
I mean, look like I think the biggest note I have right now is that LeBron hasn't really done that much like he just hasn't he and look, we're respect.
The headline of this thing is that he, like, shunned Anthony Davis or whatever.
I mean, it sounds like he just wanted Anthony Davis to focus up fine.
I don't want to give LeBron any credit for this.
Like I hate that.
That's what this turns into is Oh, man, look what LeBron did.
I'm like, Do look what Anthony Davis did.
LeBron had 10 points on 11 shots like great, wonderful.
Anthony Davis was the best player in that game and was like, Oh, yeah, this is what happened When he posts up like he deserves all the credit and I don't know, I just that's my take away.
Anthony Davis is gonna carry them like that's it.
Well, and by the way, like because we talked about this last time to just around the idea of Anthony Davis, the option coming back, the Lakers and etcetera.
And it is as much about like they got Anthony Davis there to make sure they have their future in place, you assume, and from a LeBron James standpoint like He is smart, right? Very smart guy.
Which is why he understands that.
Like you said, you didn't say anything till doesn't mean he was shutting him.
And playing mind games means it means that he looked at Anthony Davidson goes.
It's not like he's not a profession like he's been around.
He's not happy, like I trust him, toe have a big game and accept that.
If we take JAVALE McGee off the floor and we don't have Dwight Howard in the game and you end up in the five, you're gonna play those minutes there, you're gonna look great.
You're gonna dominate, and we're gonna win the game like it's a pretty straightforward solution in terms of understanding.
Okay, if I need to do something else for us to win, then that's what I'm going to deal like.
I don't think Anthony Davis is going to legitimately.
And despite of not wanting to play the five, say sorry.
Got to be McGee. I I want to help guys.
I wish I could help you.
So you and I also don't like feeding the line As greatest.
LeBron James has been obviously and continues to be.
I don't like feeding the storyline that maybe he starts to come down a little bit that now we're going to start pushing on the narrative off.
But boy, that mind games he plays with something like that.
A couple years ago, we had ever wear suits for a business, a business like approach to the game.
They don't out as well.
Yeah, it's like it's so performative like it's been weird cause I'm a job like LeBron James might be my favorite player ever.
I love LeBron James and I like I don't wanna be the guy who's like Oh, well, show me like I only care about what you're doing right in the moment cause I got so disrespectful.
But it's been for for Mitt of the last couple of days.
The oh, there's like it so much different without the fans.
I need the Staples Center rocking.
I'm just like men like Braid.
The three point shot isn't falling five, and that's fine.
But just like I let's give Anthony Davis a little bit of credit, he showed up.
He's gonna lead them like that's honestly what I'm at, like I still believe in LeBron be able to come through and score 40 points on the night.
I dio I do, but I just don't know how often we're gonna see that.
Like, is he gonna build to do that every game in a serious? Because two years ago, he was able to I don't want to be like, Oh, he's washed cause that's ridiculous.
He can obviously still do it.
He's a still a just a beast in transition, but it's a little different. I don't know.
It's like you got Gary trend on you, who is good, honestly, gave really, really good at for you got Melo on you.
It's like, all right, Like I just would rather this be like the headline of, like, Anthony Davis.
You know, whatever posts up and says, you know, use of narc, it's You can't guard me or something like that.
I don't know why this is bothering me so much, but it bothered me yesterday too.
Well, what? You know what I think it is too, though, and we talked about it right that Anthony is a quiet guy.
So it's nice to have the cushion of LeBron James to maybe do all these things LeBron James also Ah, space jams, uniformed dropped the other day to So there's a whole sequence of things that is unfolding for LeBron James out of the bubble, both on and off the court.
But I think to its, like, Can LeBron some of those big gains 100%? But this is the first time in his career that he doesn't have to be the ultimate Alfa player on the team, the most dominant performance.
He doesn't have to win every stat line in the postgame in order for them to in games.
And I think, even though not knock on Kevin Love or any of the pieces that he's played alongside, obviously a Kyrie Irving there as well early in his career.
But that was at the height of his powers, LeBron James with Kyrie Irving there alongside him.
So now you're seeing this idea of something that someone else is gonna have to be, you know, the my number one.
Even if you rely on LeBron for facilitation, you know, in the smart, please, and getting everyone in the right position, I will give him credit for that.
But to your point like this is Anthony Davis helps us win this championship because I would argue you'd be hard pressed to pick another player to take a D off this team and put their with LeBron Bond.
Say, I feel as confident about them being able to win a championship as I do with a D that, yeah, it's just I don't know.
I mean, uh huh, I'm I still think, and it's weird, But if Anthony Davis is going to be the number one guy, I like that a lot.
I don't know if I like it in terms of game to game consistency, like I'm like, What does that look like against the Rockets next round? What does that like? I just you know, it's just something I'm monitoring.
I think, look, it's great.
They should be taken taken care of.
This Siri's this. You know things.
Blazer team has Mario Hezonja and all these guys like coming off the bench.
You should be able to take care of them.
Um, now Lillard's hurt.
I mean, CJ's hurt hurt, but he's definitely gonna have, like, I'm sure they realized whaler.
Yeah, yeah, like it's just like a maintenance type of thing.
so I don't know.
I mean, I've just monitoring them. It's fine.
Like, yeah, they took care of business. Great.
Um, I'm still all the questions I have about them are the exact same like the three point shooting.
Where is it going to come from? Um, you know what? Like it's just that it's they're not your average.
I think playoff team, especially for the weight, seems have been playing in this bubble.
It's like, Yo, we really need to see I mean, this strategy, they're running it better work because size is not made a difference.
You said you like, fast forward to that rocket Siri's you talk about like, Well, you won't use the size of McGee and Dwight Howard.
Guess what? We're going on.
The Rockets run.
You're gonna have a real issue there defending shooters on the floor in the spacing that the Rockets are gonna gonna really create around, right? Yeah.
I think like you have to run Anthony Davis, the five.
You won't even run lineups where you have call Kozma at the five and like, you know, it'll be LeBron Kyle Kuzma kcp Danny Green.
Caruso and or J R.
Who I guess Jr got more minutes than Dion, which I think was that was my biggest take away.
That's what that's what.
That's what went into my break.
But look, man, I mean, I think this will be a long Siri's.
I think the this Blazers team is has got a gear where they could just come back and be resurgent, and, um and I I expected a big performance.
And then it all comes down to what happens with Dames Finger, though.
I mean, I really hope it doesn't come down to that, but right now it seems like it will, right? Yes, for sure.
Listen, the slate of games start here in just a the bottom of the hour.
1 30 Brooklyn kicks off. We know.
Unfortunately, Joe Harris goes out and endless informality we can say about this series.
So still a lot of positive take away from Brooklyn overall in the bubble, but Toronto is on their way to getting out of the first round the Jazz Jazz Nuggets game later on today.
That's one to watch for that.
Obviously, later tonight, that's a man I hope that that's a battle.
I hope it's gonna blow out from the members in a statement, willing, I just want I want I want that Siri's, especially with Luca and with Forcing is I want that to be a gritty, you know, back and forth to tow 1 to 2 to 3 to 3 to three.
I want Game seven.
I want it on the line and see if the Clippers can, really, can you gel? Can you tell the starting place because the world over five or six games, so a lot of good stuff to watch for that night? They need Pat Bev, I'll tell you that right now that seem played without any heart on that game, it's funny.
So on one quick note that game that you know, you look at the score and you're like, Well, that wasn't very good Give.
It's actually pretty entertaining the watch that game, too.
I enjoyed watching that.
I watched it at two already, knew the score, so there was no suspense or anything.
I was like, This is pretty.
That's a fun Siri's.
This is the game where the Clippers were supposed to bounce back right, You lose that this Dallas team like you better have.
Ah, a good game plan for this and come back with a little bit of a pulse because, my goodness, it has been less than impressive so far for the Clippers.
Everything kicks off your men, enjoy it.
Follow back, Brooks.
Follow myself out of marble.
Keep the fears and Simeon Russell doing our thing.
SportsCastr News, Endia Action.
It's a Friday, friends The weekend.
Let's start speculating, Yes, it was more basketball.
Everything else for me is basketball and then sleeping.
That's especially what I'm doing right now, and I'm gonna run hot like that for the next several for the foreseeable future.
