recap show as we all know, I am a usn by other coast is at Sam Daring underscore USN We both worked with the unwrapped sports Never.
So give them a follow on Twitter and Instagram.
I hope you guys enjoy the show for today.
We're going to be talking about the NFC South and we talk about two teams in the NFC South And that is gonna be the division winners in the New Orleans Saints in the last place division division team in the Carolina Panthers.
So we're gonna be starting off with what the Saints did in the off season and further sayings.
They had a decent offseason.
Not as active and as the Carolina Panthers, which we'll talk about later on.
But the main free design.
Things that the New Orleans things have.
Where they brought in Malcolm Jenkins, uh, former safety in the Philadelphia Eagles.
He comes back to the States where he region started his career on a four year deal, and then we'll also discuss cement the manual standards.
Free agent signing.
Also, we'll also talk about Jamis Winston when he signed a one year deal with with the New Orleans Saints will talk about how much of the impact that that makes Bird than the one in states as a TV.
And then I'm gonna kind of go off to you, Sam, of the three free agent signings that I just named out Malcolm Jenkins, Emmanuel Sanders and Jamis Winston.
Which player do you believe will have the biggest impact on the New Orleans Saints chances of possibly winning the Super Bowl? I think it will be Emmanuel Sanders.
And I told I said this to you before.
I think people make a bigger deal of how much of a loss it was that the Niners lost Emmanuel Sanders.
It's not like the dude.
It's like in his prime.
Like, yeah, I would have loved him in Green Bay, but I don't think it was stupid not to sign him, but, like I mean, yeah, I definitely think that Emanuel Centers will have the biggest impact.
And, um, Malcolm Malcolm Jenkins, Um, actually just signed with CNN.
I'm just reading your comments.
Care more than welcome to join is a co host.
Um, yeah, I got Ah, I got, uh, Emmanuel Sanders.
Well, I got I got Emmanuel Sanders as well as being impactful freeze like just because Like we look at, we look at the Saints there.
They pretty much got everything except the receiver number two here on ongoing Alvin at an act.
Caleb Connor, USF.
He also is, Ah, part of us for the unwrapped sports network will wait a couple of seconds for and joining his, uh answer.
But back to what I was saying What's going on? Caleb's cailed Let's going on after much, much hotter day going so far.
Pretty good, Pretty good.
How are you guys doing today? We're doing? We're doing great, thank you.
So you guys are right now trying.
I'm trying to hang in there with all these college football cancellations. Man.
12 meeting Now that's that's that could be the deciding factor of college football Mint.
I think that that's kind of my question.
What do you think they need to do for them? Teoh Haven't season right now.
See, Velasco and we're going off topic.
Sorry, but no, Blasco was no.
The two margin for the Big 10 and Nebraska and I were the only two teams that wanted to play, and Nebraska was actually practicing literally the other day.
And now Nebraska wants Teoh.
I remember who tweeted out.
But it was like the window from Nebraska going into the Big 12 may.
Indeed, the opening, but like that's a risk, is like, Not only is it a breach of contract, but, like you could risk getting fined thousands of dollars for that, leaving that, leaving your conference for one season like that.
To me, that's just a huge risk.
Yeah, for sure I would have you.
They're definitely, Ah, big risk.
There is always, Ah, back on topic kill up through.
I'm up for you in this one as well.
So Sandra Knight.
Right now we're talking about the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers.
So for the New Orleans Saints, their main free agent signings that are the most important to talk about are the Malcolm Jenkins signing when he signed a four year deal to return with the Saints.
Another one, if it did, was bringing in Emmanuel Sanders, former receiver for the Steelers for the Broncos of the Niners, now a part of the New Orleans Saints and And as we all know, the famous 30 for 30 man Jamis Winston coming in as a backup quarterback out of those free agent signings, Who do you believe makes the most impact for? The doorman states a chance of winning a Super Bowl.
I'm gonna say, Emmanuel Sanders world.
We needed a second receiver.
Um, I think he could come in and just do right.
Get about four catches, maybe 60 yards a game.
I'm not expecting them. They're going crazy.
But, you know, we have Drew Brees quarterback.
So you can have any given night you go facing put a big numbers, but somebody to get Michael Thomas open, give him some more opportunities.
We already got Amira.
So I think he has another weapon to the Saints offense.
And I think that center that's the piece.
He might be the peace Malcolm Jenkins makes us better on defense with no sense.
Defense won the ****ing playoffs with our defense on the border every year.
So Malcolm Chicken makes us better.
But I think Emmanuel Sanders with a piece on the office side of the bargain You really didn't have that.
A second receiver? Yes, seven I agreed as well.
We We all said that Emmanuel Sanders with the missing piece and I'll come back to kind of what I was saying.
Before we look at New Orleans Saints, they pretty much have everything They have the quarterback, they have the running back they got, they got a good tight end, Jared Cook, and they even have a good defense.
But the main thing that they were pretty much missing was just the number two receiver in.
Now that think I Emmanuel Sanders, I thought for the Saints there was legitimately zero excuses for them not to go far in the playoffs.
You know, we we've seen them time and time again.
You know, they false were in the playoffs.
Whether it's 2017 of the Minneapolis Miracle, where all the guy Marcus Williams has to do is tackles to fund excellent making to the Astra championship game or whether it's Ah, no call game against the ramps and then on then and then the overtime.
That happens where ju grease and gets the ball.
But the defense couldn't get a stop, and then even last year, even last year, the playoffs drew Brees leads a great comeback like they were down 20 to 10 in that game.
And, you know, some people fooled afterwards, but Drew Brees helped carry them back.
And the defense is simply folded in overtime.
So there there is zero excuses.
Bore or the Saints.
This year, their defense is gonna be one of one of the top defense in the NFL.
I wouldn't say top five, but I could see them being a top 10 defense.
They're most likely gonna have a top 10 offense because you have a guy like Drew Brees.
You still got Michael.
Promise comes up there.
So there's gonna be zero excuses for the Saints.
I don't want to hear.
I don't want to hear any excuses for the Saints.
If they if they lose early in the playoffs, I have to do with people not have.
Really You at all points right there.
I can't give him no excuses.
I feel like, you know, this is the flu breezes last year.
If not, he has one more year and then we'll get another quarterback.
You got to get the ring.
You got to get it.
This year and next year.
The Saints are just like the Parkers to as long as they still have Ju breeze.
They're always going to be a contending team.
As much as I don't want to say this, I don't think Drew Brees wins another ring for the rest of his career, but they still have a strong team.
But the NFC has gotten stronger this offseason.
Yeah, you gotta talk about having homes of the A F C Lamar Jackson.
I see that you're talking about.
But with that offense, I think it's only one game broke just about getting there, just finishing it.
And I could ****in trust your reason, finished that last game, just one game, that they got to get there and it shouldn't they could get it done.
I feel like I could get it done, but I see where you're coming from.
Yeah, yeah, definitely there.
Let's let's move on to the New Orleans Saints draft picks.
So they're on the since I didn't really have a lot of picks.
They have four or graphics, but But they did pretty good with their 1st 2 in the first round with 24th pick, they selected to center from Michigan.
See, sees armories.
And in the third round, with the pick number 10 number 74 overall, they selected linebacker Zach Bond out of those two players.
I'll start off with you, Sam.
Who do you believe will make the most impact for the Saints? And why I think gonna be season Ramiz.
However, you know, I like Zack Bon bon a lot.
But Caesar reasons kind of a no brainer pick at that time.
Just because one he really sodas What? The boards come draft day and to Max Unger retired, which kind of shocked everyone.
So all eyes are now pointing towards Caesar.
We is to see if he could be that franchise guy.
So I definitely think it's gonna be Cesar Ruiz.
What about you, Caleb? Between those two players, who do you believe will make the most impact? I would say Caesar worries, too.
We needed somebody on the line.
I wasn't too big on Zack Barnes this because I didn't really.
Nobody would know who he was.
I know he was like a sleeper picked up a guy.
But Zachary, I mean, season reasons, definitely a guy that they needed to go down the line.
Like I said, we got to keep every safe we're gonna win.
Protect your reason.
Public it mind you gotta be straight off it.
So I think that was a great big.
Although I did expect him.
Teoh, get a receiver.
But, I mean, you can't go wrong again. Alignment.
Yeah, I'm really interested to see how the States you know, Zack Bond, because, I mean, yeah, he had the diluted sample.
They dropped into that.
They're around, but he's also undersized for an edge rusher.
And I think that also played a little bit of a factor.
Why he fell that far.
He was seen as first round talent to some scouts.
I personally thought he I was surprised he felt the third.
I expected them to go early in the second round, like within the 1st 10 to 15 picks.
I mean, I think he very well could be a special teams play maker and another die.
I mean, he could be used all over the defense and yeah, he excels on the outside, But a guy that you can develop with Sean Payton with the rest of that defense and veterans on there, where he very well could develop to an all round as rusher that can like blitz Extell both on the outside and the inside.
Yeah, that's the case that that's his potential.
Yeah, and and his speed is definitely a reason to overlook those cases of him being undersized because he would give me one of the fastest edge rushers in this draft and a lot of getting to the quarterback.
I think that's exactly what we need.
So that's his potential.
You put me on it.
I would sleep on him. I was released.
Yeah, hopefully, hopefully he does good, but I'm gonna also go with you guys said I believe Caesar will res will make make the most impact and said You can't get on the money.
I was also surprised that Max Unger retired and when he retired, I kind of wanted to see like How long will the Saints wait to find his replacement? Well, they may be weight in, like a second or third round.
Or will they get him like, right away when their 24th pick is in and they went right away And what they're with the 24th Begin.
I believe they made the right choice.
You know. Could never go with the receiver.
Yeah, they could have gone to receiver, but I didn't really see them drafting receiver just because they already signed Emmanuel Sanders.
I feel like if they didn't sign Emmanuel Sanders, maybe they could have gone that route.
Maybe they could have got, like, a Brandon Yayuk with the 23 flipping if you if he was still at the spot.
But because Max, another retired and the same signed Emmanuel Sanders them getting Caesar worries, it's gonna be huge and using out to perform.
Well, you know what? I don't get me wrong, Max.
Hunger is to do that.
The saints traded for from the heart, it would be traded.
Jimmy Graham Teoh from He was a great pig Ever since we got that was a great change.
So yeah, it definitely was a great trade.
And all lines are gonna be pretty much on Cesar reason like he's gonna have to have performed well.
And with brookie offensive lineman, you know, they don't want one of two ways.
They could either be really good, very helpful for the team.
Or that could be they could be like a huge liability.
Like I'm gonna go with an example.
Uh, say what? I don't like the Green Bay Packers.
And one of the great offense of Garza Leon last year was rookie Elton Jenkins.
You know, he really stepped up for Green Bay last year when Lane Taylor went went down and it could have gone one of two ways.
Elton Jenkins could have either been a liability and struggled mightily.
Or he could have been what he waas was one of the best best guard for the Green Bay Packers.
Like, I think there was a stat line where he didn't a lot.
I was single sack and over, like, 400 snaps so they could go one of two ways hand and the same for hopefully see, the reasons gonna be that capable guy, especially with them being at center.
You know, he's gonna have to know some stuff as well, because the center is good is gonna be the main orchestrator, how the place we're gonna go.
And when you have a smart guy like Drew Brees who could pick apart of defense, you know they're gonna have to be on the same page on the same page whole season.
It was definitely most definitely effect.
As Sam, you really liked on Zach Bond, your your big Wisconsin fan.
You kind of gave us a little points about him.
But could you also give ah a little bit more on how he can make an impact for the New Orleans Saints this season? I think he's a guy that can play off the edge, and I mentioned before that he's undersized, and not to mention he went to West bed where I'm from and he entrance with around here and played quarterback.
I always love guys that throughout their football career have played on both sides of the ball and like that's a unique trait of those players coming into the NFL.
He played quarterback up around here, was recruited as an outside linebacker at Wisconsin.
Yeah, he definitely was undersized, but I don't recall is 40 but it was definitely in the top half of the edge Russian class in this draft class and I think he's a guy.
He very well could be a guy that could all of a sudden come on, No one uncertain place because of his speed.
All right, I definitely can't wait to see what Zach Bond comes for.
One of Saints, Whether it's as a starter or limited role.
Let's close out the New Orleans Saints with three things we're gonna give.
Ah, offensive then VP for 2020 defense of M V P and the most improved player.
Let's start off with the offensive EVP.
I'll start off with you, Sam.
Who do you believe will be the Oil and Saints offensive MVP this year? In 2020? I have your birdies.
I mean, you've got more.
He has another target.
And Emmanuel Sanders.
I don't think he's great, but he's still another body.
Another weapon for Drew Brees.
You got Emmanuel Sanders, Michael Thomas, Jared Cook and album Camaro in your backfield.
I've got Drew Brees.
What about you? Cope with you coppers? Your offense.
Go back with Michael Thomas Mann.
He had a great year last year.
I think he's gonna have another great year.
Menus, uh, Sanders and Arctic American Good Decoys toe, allowing him to get open and and release the low form.
So I feel like he's gonna have another fantastic years and be at the top of his game.
And this is years in a show like No doubt Michael Thomas is the number one receiver in the league.
So I'm I'm a running back with Michael Thomas this year.
Like he's he's found another, another making year that the weapons on offense that he has around him.
It's my dream up, a lot of money and less definitely good choice of there.
I'm gonna have control over what he says Have I'm also gonna go with the Drew Brees.
Drew Brees doesn't have a lot of time left, you know he's got his.
His time is ticking and and I kind of like what you said same earlier whenever Drew Brees on the Saints, their instant contenders and I truly believe that.
And I also truly believe that however good Drew Brees is, is how good the same therapy.
Like if Drew Brees kind of struggles and show his age, the New Orleans Saints like a struggle.
But if Drew Brees continue to keep on playing good, the New Orleans Saints are keep on playing good and and with this out of targets like Emmanuel Sanders.
He still got Michael Thomas, which I believe is a good M V P pick.
You couldn't go around either way with with those players, but I just think Drew Brees has toe has to prove himself.
And because when we look at, like, all time, good quarterbacks, you know Drew Brees name pops up. But you called.
Yeah, you name a couple Cuba's beforehand.
I I feel like if June Breeze has a great season and caps off hopefully were closed in hoisting the Lombardi from his name could skyrocket up the all Time Cube you list.
So that's why that's why I got Degrees as my as my office of NPP just because his time was running out.
And you know he's got toe Lynn, and I believe with them getting Emmanuel standards, it's gonna definitely help out his chances of winning.
And what's let's more violent of the defense of EVP, Further North and saints on.
Go back to you, Sam.
Who do you got as the defense of M V.
For the new 16? There's a few guys I could pick with this one of the first ones that came to mind was to marry O'Davis.
But I'm gonna go with the wild card pick here, and I'm going to go with Marshawn Lattimore.
I was gonna go with Marshall out of two.
Yeah, those are.
Those are definitely good picks.
Could you guys give me a couple reasons why you're gonna go with Marshall Lattimore? We got it.
I mean, we don't march on Lattimore very well.
Could solidify himself this year as their franchise peace in their secondary.
We don't know if Malcolm Jenkins is necessarily the answer And Malcolm Jenkins is old.
We already know he's signed with CNN after this.
Ah, after when his career is done.
And Marchand bottom was young, he's a good secondary.
He's a good and reliable secondary guy to build around.
I would agree with you.
You the youngest guy on defense now we actually have a couple other.
We have another corner, another safety, but I think he could be the piece.
You know, he has a couple of years coming up that are gonna be important years.
Where? All eyes You're gonna be on you because you could be Friday for a big contract.
I mean, I think you said I could get it done.
You just cute 15 to prove himself.
You could get in that big contract considered the top three bone on top five corners.
So I was going Marshawn Lattimore.
Although we do have a lot of other gay guys that you can't over on the Senate side.
So I gotta get see a quarterback.
I mean, Malcolm Jenkins, he's gonna hide that veteran peace to our defense.
All I've gotta go to martial by the mother's here.
Yeah, probably clear to pick for us defensive every people.
I'm gonna go with Cameron Jordan.
The reason why I'm going with the camera Jordan is because I think he's got one of most important, uh, positions of the NFL.
That as an edge rusher, the I said before nonsense again, like the key for NFL teams to be successful is you gotta have a quarterback, you gotta have the edge rusher and you gotta have a good old line and the same Scott, all three of them.
And I feel like Cameron Jordan is gonna have another good year.
I think if he stay if he stays healthy and has no injuries.
You know, he's gonna be a very important factor on the other women Saints getting to the quarterback.
You know, that's gonna be the scene for for the face.
All season is we know we know their offense is gonna be great because they got Drew Brees.
The guy Emmanuel Sanders, Camara Jericho.
We know they're often will be great, But can their defense step up to the task? Can the defense carry the load and perform well and can camera, drone and perform in the playoffs? Like, can this New Orleans Saints defense do great in the playoffs and kind of shed off the label of not being able to carry the offense? You know, it's gonna be very important.
I feel like Cameron joining.
He's gonna be that defense of N v p.
And he's gonna be the reason why the New Orleans Saints either.
I believe you could be the reason why the Northern States are gonna go far and the in the NFL this season.
I don't doubt that pick, bro.
I don't doubt that pick.
I just think he's a little older.
It's getting odor, but he is definitely key piece to anything.
Oh, yeah, Definitely it.
And you guys didn't go wrong either With Mark Marshall Lattimore.
Why haven't pick another guy besides camera joining? I would have definitely got with Marshall Lattimore.
And let's move on to the our second team that will be talking about This is a team that finished last last year in the NFC South.
Kind of going in a different direction.
And that is the Carolina Panthers before we get yeah, but before we get to the Carolina Pan, I was excited for this one, too.
Yeah, I just You guys go.
Let it, uh before we go to the Carolina Panthers, let's go with most improved player.
I'm gonna go with mine.
I'm gonna go with Alvin Kamara.
The reason why I'm gonna go with Abu Come Arias He had a slight down year whether it was because of a possible injury or not.
But I feel like Alvin Kamara is gonna be back.
You know, id like Alvin Kamara is gonna prove, especially in a year where I believe he's a free agent after this year, because he's part of that 2017 running back class.
I think he's a free agent after this year, and I think in a contract year I feel he's gonna have the lights out year.
I feel like he could have one of the best years of his career, which is why I believe I haven't asked the most most improved player.
I 100% agree with you, man.
I also have Alvin Kamara, and, like you mentioned, he had a bit of a down year.
He had a breakout years.
Rookie year had a bit of a down years last year.
And if you look at today's NFL running backs, even today's NFL scouts and coaches, they look for guys that are running backs that are effective in both the run and the passing game.
And there's very few running backs there like that.
Jamal Williams is a great example of one, obviously Aaron Jones, Alan Camaro, Christian McCaffrey.
But I mean Alvin Kamara to me.
I mean, he devil had a little bit of a down year.
He's going to solidify himself as being a top five running back.
I already put it in my top five, but in my question I think I has Matt this like when we were worn on the air.
Caleb obviously did.
Henry's off the board now because he was.
He got re signed with the Titans, Do you think? I mean, we all mother running backs have the quote unquote shelf life tag on them.
But if you look at next year's running back for aging class, it's got Alvin Kamara.
McAfee is gone, but album gets got album Camaro.
It's got make trouble very well.
Think could hold out.
Um, it's there's multiple like that list just goes on and on.
Do you think that next year's running back for aging class could change? Like like I don't know how to, like word this question.
But do you think that that class could change? You know, like how people view running backs as the way I see and Dominic Fox were mentioned this a few weeks ago and get up.
If the Giants are selecting Barkley with their second pick, why are you not paying them? Barkley is the franchise piece.
Barkley is the guy you want to build your offense around.
How are you not paying him? What do you think? I think it could change the landscape and the landscape.
I think that's what The word. Your Yes.
I definitely do think it could change the last game just because of the amount of running backs that are gonna be free agents.
So they're gonna be going a different teams.
Uh, I really don't I don't know.
I like the contract with the young players.
It just depends on team, like, I don't think running backs from El Artista.
Especially with this class.
Those guys would still get their their contracts.
I don't think anything will change.
I just think it's It's it all depends on.
Unfortunately, a lot of teams been thinking about going the younger route with running backs.
And it makes sense because, I mean, those teams often get rewarded.
Like I mean, you can see chiefs.
They don't have a top five running back, but have a solid run in the fact that a little bit and have a great quarterback.
So it's all the organization, and I'm glad you brought that up because achieves and the Niners are prime examples where he Mostar went undrafted.
He was cut by six different teams.
I'm not mistaking David Williams is either undrafted or a late pick, and that just goes to show running backs.
I know it sucks to say that they have shelf like, but they're also the most easily replaced position in the NFL.
Every time you hear means showing statistically but Statistics Canada Yeah, that was definitely true.
Eso So we can all agree that Alvin Kamara is gonna be the one and Saints most improved player 2020.
Yes, I would agree with you.
I would agree with you on offense.
Inside the bar would definitely beauty.
I think on defense is on the defensive side of the body.
See markets, Williams being the most guy.
He's one of those guys on defense that had that mistake against the Vikings of first time.
I think he might got.
That might have caught the ball in the second time to, But I think he's a guy that had a good year.
This hasn't bad moments for like this year, so he'll solidify.
That is his contract.
Is his contract years coming up soon too.
So he's gonna have to show out and I think that's gonna be my other guy.
That stuff most improved this year.
Definitely a good selection there.
All right, now let's move on to the Carolina Panthers.
The Carolina Panthers, As we all know, they placed last in the NFC South, and it's got a kind of the end of an era.
You know, They made a lot, a lot of moves in the off season.
They basically released release Greg Olsen.
They released Kamna and Looky Klay retired, and they're they're moving in a different direction. New Era.
And it all started when, ah, they signed Christian McCaffrey making him the highest paid running back in the NFL.
And then on top of that, they added in Teddy Bridgewater, originally known as the back of the New Orleans Saints.
And he had a great year last year with the Saints, went 50 replacing Drew Brees.
When he heard it, Tom and he was terrific, got his payday.
I believe it was three years, $60 million.
They also added, in other weapon health.
Besides, besides Curtis Samuel D.
Moore, they added bra B.
Anderson two year, $20 million deal with the Jets from the jets.
And then they also added Seth Roberts, who could be a key addition.
There also added a safety trade Boston here in Boston as well.
Those are, in my opinion, the main, the main big signings.
And they also added in This is my like, the first kind of XFL players who transition to the NFL.
They've brought in another Q B p J. Walker.
So, out of out of all those free agent signings I'll start off with with you, said one player.
Are you most intrigued? Toe watch perform for the Carolina Panthers this year? Definitely.
The Packers wanted him for 10 plus 1,000,000.
I don't give him that money at all, but the wide receiver of their future is most definitely D. J.
But Robby Anderson? I definitely did not see that signing coming from them.
So I got Robby Anderson, and I think it also speaks volumes that you brought trade.
Boston has been passed around by quite a few teams, and I think that definitely speaks volumes.
Um, for like I mean, I think this is what his 2nd 3rd stint with the Panthers because he's going the Panthers moment the Chargers free agent for quite some time.
So, I mean, a lot of these times I mean, the fact that he's this isn't his first time with the Panthers shows not only does it speak volumes, it kind of seems like they're putting out of faith into him.
And they're putting almost, like, prove it years on him.
L'm This seems like this might be his last chance to show to show that, but I've got Robby Anderson any Bridgewater to be on inside.
I didn't be a starting quarterback for the rights that he was that, but I really want to see him play.
I mean, yes, they have a really, really, really good year because, you know, before like it, Adam, I mean, Cam Newton was released.
Yes, a big shoes to fill.
And I were on something you could do.
Went to Carolina gonna be arrival in the scenes, everything.
I'm excited to see if he could do.
And if you leave them into the playoffs, he's the guy.
Um, I didn't agree with the signing.
I thought they should start a quarterback compared him.
McCaffrey And they didn't just went that route.
Or maybe try detained for Trevor Lawrence.
But, hey, it is what it is.
I'm happy for me.
Got his bag, got his chips.
So I just want to see what he could Dio I'm excited to see Yeah, I I also got a teddy breaking Bridgewater as well.
I also want to see what today brings.
What I can do is walk us.
Last time we saw Teddy Bridgewater start start A whole season was in 2015 when he was with the Minnesota Vikings and he led them to the NFC North of Vision vision.
He won that division.
So, you know, and we look at what he did last year with the Saints.
He was fantastic.
He didn't really turn the ball over a lot, and he basically didn't put in harm's way.
And I expect him to do that, do that same thing, sending you hear a lot getting work.
Although we talk about this on our podcast on time, you have to have that guy's a difference between my God.
That's a, uh, it's a regular quarterback giving a playoff Doosan clean, but versus a superb old type of quarterback.
There, different quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, Teddy Bridgewater's he that guys that could lead him to the Super Bowl.
I just didn't see that with the same.
I mean, even if the Saints would have went like, what's him and let Drew Brees go, I would have been right.
Why Teddy Bridgewater is not a franchise quarterback like we're talking late with Super Bowl.
Yeah, it will definitely be interesting to see what what happens with Teddy Bridgewater, and he's gonna have a lot of eyes on.
You know, it's very rare that you see, like a three year, $60 million deal replacing a franchise star in Cameroon.
Because, I mean, let's be honest care route is probably one of the best not all players the Panthers have out in their franchise since Steve Smith.
You know, since D.
Smith, senior of Julius Peppers.
You know, if you look at if you look at all time Carolina Panther greats of those, those three players are gonna pop up on there.
So it will be interesting to see what happens with Teddy Bridgewater.
And I hope he does Well, uh, let's let's go to the NFL draft.
Ah, the Carolina Panthers.
They had they had a very active draft.
They have probably 11 of the best draft this year, Uh, with their with their seventh pick.
They drafted the defensive linemen out of Auburn.
Derek Brown, which I believe was A was a great pick for them and and all of them fixed.
They pretty much went when all defense, you know, they also got in the second round.
Russia get tear ghost, math house.
They also got a safety and Jeremy Chin and then a bunch of others.
But they pretty much where when all all defense us for their for their drafted.
I kind of want to start with you seven.
I can't want talk about their selection of their Brown death, and Carolina Panthers make the right decision on drafting Derek Brown instead of Isaiah Senate's.
Before I answer that, I think Caleb just left.
I think he lost connection or something.
I think in years he did.
He did leave leave connection.
I did see him kind of kind of a loose connection a little bit.
Uh, eventually, he'll he'll probably come back in a couple minutes.
So let's let's get back to the the question do you think the character who has made a mistake dropping Derek Brown is not alone? Not at all.
And I think I know a lot of people were expecting.
Expecting the panders to take Isaiah Simmons comes the departure of Luke. Keep later retirement.
But they also needed help on their front line.
So I mean, did bomb was like, That's a massive pickup.
That's a that's a huge draft for them and I think will help you immensely.
And you got to remember they also lost.
I mean, not that that this guy I like was amazing for them.
But they also lost both of their top defense of tackles to free agency as well.
And one of them wants Don.
Sorry, Po, and they don't have a whole lot.
They drafted two defensive tackles, one of them being Derek Brown.
So they don't have a whole lot of defensive tackle or D lined up.
So I mean dead Brown is going to come in and make an immediate impact.
I'm gonna go with different route just to stir things up.
I believe they made a mistake.
I don't You're wrong.
Did Derek Derek Brown is gonna be is gonna be a great player.
But I feel like they should have went with Isaiah sentence just for the sole fact that he's a guy who can play, play anywhere.
You know, we saw.
We saw we saw in a in Clemson and cleansing No, we saw him play play as as a linebacker.
You know, we saw I'll play it safe.
The I believe they even had him have him as, like, an edge rusher.
So it I feel like I think they'll be will be one of those where, where they might they might regret it.
I mean, I feel they gonna go wrong either way either way, but, you know, for eMedia impact, I felt like I was estimates would have been the right choice, just just to replace Lukic.
Lee just just asked as that new guy is that just as the new guy, I do think Derek Brown is all the tools in the skill set in the world, though, to overlook your case that you made.
But I think you're making fair points and they could have very well could've used both of them.
I mean, looky Klay was a massive loss for that defense of like they, their defense needed help on almost every single place you can think of.
And Matt Rule went full defense.
He drafted all defense in this round, and we went and talked about the offense.
And but one guy.
Yes, they picked up Matt Rule and Matt Rule.
The Panthers and the Giants were the two teams that really stood out to me for Matt Rule because they're both rebuilding teams.
And that's what Matt Rules known for. He took a team.
He took the Temple Owls, a team that nobody talked about.
It wasn't good for years, took them, brought them in the bowl contention.
And he did the same thing with Baylor.
Baylor wasn't good in the Big 12.
They were mediocre.
But then they brought them not only in the bowl contention, but one of the teams in the in the Big 12 that everyone talks about now.
And unfortunately, I think I'm from not speak.
And Alice, you lost their D coordinator, who is now Matt rules replacement over at Baylor.
So, yeah, the Giants could have used him, but the Panthers had.
That was like a phenomenal pickup and another coach I want to bring up is Joe Brady, a guy that was with the Saints coaching staff during his time in the NFL and then went Ellis you.
He's a mastermind.
And him, I think, 2 to 3 years, I think he could land a head coaching job that like that, like I have so much faith in him he had.
He is such a mastermind.
And before Caleb go now, I was gonna mention quarterbacks are hard to come by and he made great points.
There's there's quarterbacks that are elite when you games, but then there's other quarterbacks like Jimmy, Jimmy Garoppolo, like he's the weakest link on that team.
And I've said this to you numerous times where if you get rid Nick both so they don't make Super Bowl Jimmy Garoppolo, it's means a good enough quarterback to win you football games. He's not.
He's not top 10 at all.
I would even argue he might not even be in my top 15.
If he is, he's probably at 14 or 15 but anyways, back to my point these next three years.
Maternity burst water under Joe Brady are going to be very interesting to look at and all eyes are going to be on him.
Because if you look at all these draft like prospects next year with the quarterback class, there's Trey.
Lance and Justin Fields have been seen like an him in mock drafts in the top 10 going to Carolina.
So I mean, it will be interesting.
I mean, Teddy Bridgewater and you mentioned it's to all eyes are going to be on him, especially with an offense of mastermind in Joe Brady.
Yeah, yeah, most definitely.
And I also I'm gonna talk a little bit about that Matt Rule as well.
I feel like Carolina.
They made the right choice.
They made the right decision getting Matt Matt rule to to Caroline especially kind, like the point that you said, like everywhere everywhere he has been, he has made the team better, like even at Baylor.
There one point only on one win.
They really were 11 program, and then he turned them around and to into an 11 1 problem.
He turned around into a chance for last year.
If they be Oklahoma, they could have made him a the cost about playoff, and they know eventually they did lose him. The suitable.
But that was That was Baylor's biggest moment since that since the RG three era since RG three was that they were.
So it's definitely gonna be very exciting for or Matt Matt Rule to coach the Carolina Panthers.
And he's definitely is gonna make a big impact, especially with the draft that he had on on a defensive side and and get killed won't be able tough.
The joint join us for the rest of the stream.
So we want to thank you for the time that that you put it.
You mean so it's just gonna be us to finishing out and kind of what you said about Joe Brady.
I'm fully 1% agree with what you said about your break.
So I I would like to see and this is gonna be a bold prediction.
Lie about to say, whenever the New York Jets decided to fire out of Jase, I believe they're gonna look at Joe Brady and name of as their future head coach is bull.
But I can I can truly see that I could truly see that in the next in the next couple of years.
See, I think I think this is I mean, I've told you this numerous times.
I'm a firm believer that, and you and I both agreed on the Steve work situation with the Cardinals.
I'm but I'm a firm believer that one year of being a head coach is not determined your talent and how well you are with a team.
But Adam gauges the only exception allegation of been fired.
I think he'll be fired next year, and if he is, I don't think it will be Joe Berries time.
But, however, Joe Brady with the young quarterback in Sam Donald, because Sam Donald somehow is playing like he's a regressing quarterback, So that would be an interesting team as well.
And the Panthers, like we both just mentioned he took Temple Teoh from a nobody team to bowl contention.
He took Baylor from a one win team to a top 10 team, so he's done in college football, and I'm really excited to see what he can dio with the Carolina Panthers.
I'm definitely excited to do with pencils well, and let's talk about their other draft picks.
We talked about Derek Brown.
Well, that's kind of going to the second round for the second round.
They have their 10 picks in the second round.
They selected Edge Rusher, You tear Gross Matos and the safety Jeremy check between those two second round players.
Sam who? You will have the biggest impact for the Carolina Panthers this season.
I've got a you know Gross model is I was a bit surprised he fell out of the first round.
Jeremy Chin also is a guy that, like other players and Caesar, reads like we mentioned from the Saints earlier with Caleb Jeremy Chin definitely sort his way up the drive towards If I'm not mistaken, there might have been a one or two mock drafts that had him that ****ysts had him going in the first round like late in the first round.
But I've got you to grow smiles.
That dude is just in explosive force.
You put him with their brown on that front line.
That is just That's a that's going to be a really fun duo, toe watch and a really fun front line to build around.
Yeah, almost every.
Tear it tear Grossmont Sosa as well as making the both Zantac.
The reason being is he's an edge rusher.
You know, I stated earlier that the keys to an NFL team are you going to be the quarterback? Need the edge rusher and you the optical mine.
And, you know, hopefully you tear ghost mottoes could be that guy.
And maybe Carolina in a couple years may like you, said Derek Brown.
And it goes, Matos could potentially be the next kind of 112 punch.
I want 12 bunch duo at.
I'm like the defensive front that the front just in general and, uh, other selection that they may were Ah, Cornerback Troy Pride Jr on safety.
Kenny Robinson, defensive lineman Gravy and Roy and then the last election in the seventh round.
They just like the cornerback Stanley Thomas Oliver the third.
If you had a pick, uh, another player besides you tear Gross Monster's gonna make an instant impact from the Panthers.
Who else would it be with those remaining picks? I really liked Short Pride Jr.
And if you look at him, I mean, he's a guy that has speed, not overly impressive speed, but he's a guy that excels in coverage, excels in zone coverage.
I love his body length.
I mean his his arm length.
And that's to mean he could very well come in and compete for the corner.
One of the two cornerback spots? Yeah, yeah, it was definitely a ploy.
A player that I got for the Carolina offense that I believe will make most impact.
I will go with their second round pick here and be chin.
The reason why I will go with Jeremy Chin is I just feel like he's gonna make a good impact, that safety.
You know, the parable alongside with I believe they're they're free agent signing, trade, trade Boston.
I think he's gonna be, ah, like a little sidekick next to Trade Boston and I can't wait to see see kind of what happens with with those two players with those players together on on that defense.
And then let's let's move on toe for the Carolina Panthers.
Let's talk about their their offensive, them BP, their defense of NDP and their most schools improved player.
I'll start up with the offensive FTP who you have Sam for the Carolina Panthers office of NDP in 2020.
Okay, so I'm gonna do this again.
We did this with Khalil Mack, and we did this with Aaron.
Donald, you can't pick McCaffrey.
All right, so I'm gonna go with D J.
Moore, and I know I said Robby Anderson.
I was intrigued by D.
Moore is an ongoing coming wide receiver, and he's 100% he's going to saluted by themselves this year as their number one receiver, and I mean he you can't I mean, I don't know if I've heard from people or not that Robby Anderson could come in.
And when the number one job did, the number one wide receiver position is D. J. Morris.
Moore is a product is fast, and he's a big body guy who will solidify himself as the number one receiver and the franchise piece along with Christian McCaffrey on that offense.
Yeah, I agree with you.
I'm also gonna go with D. J.
Moore as the offensive EVP and you come into the world.
You know, he's a big receiver, and I actually believe he's gonna be there.
They're number one receiver for, you know, and he's gonna be there.
Other target beside the size.
Cushman Catholic on that offense.
And let's let's also move on to their defense of M v P Sam Could you have as the Carolina Panthers defensive NDP in 2000? So I'm gonna combine this.
This guy's going to be my defense of M V P and my most improved player, and that's Shaq Thompson.
And this is a guy that he has shown Sparks.
When he's given the opportunity, he show not on.
He's shown Sparks.
He's powerful, and he's going to be the next guy to step up as a leader with that young and defense.
And now that especially now that Luke equals gone and now and then this is also a guy that was a role player for so long and a guide that learned behind Luke equally for years.
So I'm really excited to see what he can do without Looky Klay, and I've got him is both my defense of M V P and my most improved player, Shaq Thompson.
That's a good pick them, I thought, a little wild card.
I am gonna go with Derek Derek Brown.
I feel like I feel like Derek Brown as a rookie.
I thought, he's gonna make an immediate impact for the Carolina Panthers.
Don't get me wrong.
I wish they would have jumped Isaiah Simmons, but I think they couldn't go wrong with their brown kind of a do it all defensive lining.
And I think it's official toe.
Eventually one day, one day, be one of of the best defensive line linemen in the NFL.
Like I actually believe he has the best tools toe one day become You come, that kind of player.
And since you already named your most improved player as a shack Thompson all uncle of mine, my most improved player for the Carolina Panthers this season is gonna be Teddy Bridgewater.
I'm truly believed that Teddy Bridgewater as a starting quarterback, I feel like he's gonna be He's gonna be even dominant.
He's gonna be a great player for the Carolina Panthers.
You know, with that rule, Joe Brady, especially what he did with you could see my jersey.
Borough Ellis, you Jersey What Joe Brady did in the l S U basically turned euro burrow into the number one overall pick in 2020 and I can't wait to see what Joe Brady is going to do with with 30 Bridgewater and and the Carolina Panthers and let's go toe their season predictions.
We forgot to do it. Season production.
Spur of the safe.
So before we predict the season for the Carolina Panthers stand, what do you have? The New Orleans Saints going for their records? I've got them going 12 and four.
There's still a strong team.
Emmanuel Sanders definitely isn't upgrade on their offense.
Not a massive one, but he's another weapon for jewelries.
I've got them going 12 for they didn't lose a whole lot.
And we mentioned with the first round picks to is long term guys, There's definitely pieces they could have chosen.
They were definitely in a position to choose Jordan love, um, and or even draft the tight end in the second round or even go pasture queen in the first.
But there I got going 12 and four.
I've got them losing the Tampa at least once, and, um, there still a strong team.
I think division is still there's to lose.
Yeah, I agree with you as well.
I also have the New Orleans Saints going going 12 before I truly I actually believe that that the New Orleans Saints they pretty much brought brought back the same team, you know? I mean, and they got better.
You know, They add in a guy like Emmanuel Sanders in the off season, it's gonna be a huge, could be a huge win for them, and I feel like they can't.
They can't go wrong, go wrong either way with whatever player they got.
So I got I got the once.
It's going 12 for Ah, here are my four losses, though, that I have for for the New Orleans Saints, I believe the Saints will lose.
Oh, my, that I actually have the same goal on 13 and three, So I actually haven't going one more better one more wind than you have been going forward floor.
I have them winning against the I have them losing one to the Buccaneers.
I got the losing to the Niners and I got been losing to the Falcon, so I got the New Orleans Saints going 13 and three and being one of the top teams in the NFC.
And now let's close it out with talking about the Carolina Panthers record of what what record do you have board The Carolina Panthers? Sam.
I've got five and 11 and I think the first year under Matt Rule, a guy that came from college football.
Another offensive coordinator job radio who also came from Ellis like college football issue.
They're not gonna Nobody's gonna expect the whole lot of from them.
I mean, yeah, they definitely have pieces.
They have obviously, Troy Pride, Jr.
Shaq Thompson, Jeremy Chin, Derek Brown.
You know, gross mottoes. And they signed.
They re signed Christian McCaffrey and brought in Robby Anderson, so they have pieces to work with.
But again, one year is not going to determine it.
But I've gotten going five and 11.
I've got them beating the Falcons, and, um, I also think they have the potential toe hang with the Buccaneers with the defense.
But I still have been losing to the Buccaneers, but I've gotten going 5 11 I have them doing worse.
I have them going three and 13 and I know I know it's kind of harsh for me to say that they're going 3 13 but I just feel like they're gonna kind of struggle the first year and don't get me wrong.
They have great players.
But when you have a new coaching coaching regime with a Matt Rule and Joe Brady, it'll take some time to get used to.
And I definitely I feel like it's gonna be a Even though it's three and 13 record, I still feel like they're going to grow as a team, and I just probably they played tough teams, you know, they're in a tough division, you know.
They played the buck and years twice a year, which I believe they lose both games.
The Buccaneers, they played the Saints twice.
I think they lose the same twice.
So even right then and there, that's four games.
And then on top of that, you gotta play teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, who are the super world raining tool champs.
You gotta play the Green Bay Packers late in the season.
You gotta play with the Los Angeles Chargers.
They could be one of those teams where, where you know, they cannot be really good or really bad.
So you never know what you're gonna get.
And then they gotta play Denver Broncos, who have no joke of a defense.
So I just like they play a lot of tough defense on the schedule.
I do believe they'll be better better next year, but I feel like this year they're gonna they're gonna fall off.
They're going to be three and 13 and hopefully, you know they'll give Teddy Bridgewater a second chance.
But you know, it's gonna be very interesting to see what happens when the Carol happens.
But I also wouldn't be surprised if the 85 11 kind of like what you said is also, I feel like they're one of those teams were there stealing their highest.
I believe they could go with 79 their lowest is like a three and 13 kind of.
Yeah, the Broncos are like, I think the Broncos would be a pretty maybe one of them or even mash ups on their schedule because, yeah, you said they have a joke of a defense.
The Panthers don't really have a whole lot to build around, either.
So you're going up against a what could be a loaded really, really fun to watch? Pat Shurmur, Denver Broncos offense versus a lot of unproven guide on the Panthers defense.
And then you're going with the Panthers offense who have pieces.
Curtis Samuel, D.
Moore, Robby Anderson, Um, Christian McCaffrey.
And then Teddy Bridgewater versus Von Miller.
Justine Simons and the rest.
I mean, Bradley jump and we job Andrew L.
Casey. That's right. Yep.
So I mean that to me.
I think they have a potential I I've got them winning that game, but I think it's gonna be a close, and I think that definitely is one of their more even matchups on their schedule.
Yeah, I want to be surprised if that magic is They will in that matchup, either.
But I'm just not not really soul on the Panthers.
I feel like the pants.
Look, everyone of those teams where I felt get a couple of years like like and maybe maybe 334 years.
They could be a team that could contend of the playoffs, especially with the Saints getting older.
With the Buccaneers basically going all in the next two years, I feel like Carolina could be a team where the next couple of years they could be competing for top dogs in the NFC South.
But as of right now, they're in a tough division.
We kind of don't know what Matt Rule as an NFL coach is.
We've seen his track record in college, and it's a really good tracker, you know, like he did a temple, turning them around to a full eligible top team.
Waded with Baylor as well.
But what college is a different animal from the NFL? And some college coaches don't really work out in the NFL.
I mean, look at what happened with Chip Kelly when Chip Kelly was that organ.
He was one of the best coaches and call it just because of what he did with Organ with the fast pace kind of offense.
And then he went to the NFL and the condom really worked out well, you know, didn't really work.
Winners in Philadelphia didn't really work Williams with San Francisco, and when those teams moved on from Chip Kelly, they got better.
We look in Philadelphia.
They replaced Chip Kelly with Doug Peterson and two years they won the Super Bowl and then even the same thing when Chip Kelly got replaced by Kyle Shanahan.
I believe 23 years later, they make it to the Super Bowl.
So it'll be interesting to see what happens with the mat rule.
But with them get signing him a seven year contract.
They're definitely gonna gonna be patient with that rule.
They're not going to rush anything.
They're just gonna let him build the team that he wants.
And who else? Navy? If they finished three and 13 maybe they will take a guy like a Travel Warrants or Justin Fields just because, Like, those are two quarterbacks where they could possibly be a once in a lifetime type of quarterback where you can't you can't miss.
Or else if you do, it will set you back many years.
Yeah, the Panthers air.
Definitely going to be a fun team to watch.
And Trevor Lawrence, I think Trevor Lawrence of even if he opts out, we don't know the news of the A C.
C A much shorter.
He said he said he was gonna play.
Yeah, he said he wasn't.
He was said he was gonna play, but a so far as we know it.
I haven't checked my phone so as we know, the SNC in the a, C c are still playing.
But obviously, if he opts out, he has nothing life.
He has nothing left to prove.
I think he'll still be the number one pick.
I don't necessarily think the Panthers air bad enough to be a top three pick in the draft.
I most definitely think they're going to be a top 10 pick.
Um, but they have.
They have pieces that Christian McCaffrey, who is there offensive piece and we don't know who their defense of pieces pieces yet very well could be Shaq Thompson or very well, could be one of their front guys in, you know, gross mottoes or even Derek Brown.
But they're gonna be a fun team to wash rebuild throughout.
Yeah, definitely definitely gonna be a fun team.
I can't wait to see what what the Carolina Panthers are are able to do, especially with I mean, they went all defense in this draft.
So with their picks up, they have.
I think they went all defense and they're going to see what defense of guys that's that's what the team and if they simply don't fit the team that you know Oh, well, on to the next draft and go from there and that my friends will conclude the Matt and Sam NFL recap show.
We appreciate you guys tuning in.
We also doesn't want to think at give kind of us end for for the time that he was in, you know, said the heat, he disconnected a little, but we appreciate is input on what he gave.
And we we appreciate you guys watching and picture you guys to name Junoon when we talk about the rest of the NFC South with the Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons.
Any final words for use them? No, no, you hit it right.
Thanks for jumping. Things were jumping on for the time being.
Um, you're more than welcome to come on as a swell as anyone else with unwrapped listening to this more than welcome to come on with us.
We love talking sports with anyone that joins in the unrest
