and we welcome you back into We got Nets podcast right here on SportsCastr, your official affiliate for all things Brooklyn Nets.
It's 104 90 started one of the 94 excuse me for the Brooklyn Nets, who have led by double digits for I have to go all the way back to halftime, essentially early in the ah, midway through the second quarter, they got that lead.
They never relinquished it.
Orlando did come back to within about 11 at one point in the late in the third quarter, but the Nets were able to sustain that small rally as an outlet pass goes down the floor and a quick bucket here will pull them within 12.
But obviously not a big deal.
The last 40 seconds playing out here, Let's go inside those numbers, Man, This was a great game for a number of reasons.
We first highlight the general stats, 42% to 37 from the field in favor of Brooklyn.
They finished just about 30% from beyond the arc 13 of 43 and also knocked down 19 of 24 good for 79% from the free throw line which was important because in the first half they didn't look quite a strong even with midway through the third quarter.
And there's a big component as to why which will get into in a second as well.
As this one officially wraps up here last 10 seconds running off one a week to 96 will be your final.
We did see the Orlando Magic struggled from the field, obviously, over role, Really.
The Nets had six more shots than the Orlando Magic that converted again.
It's not too far off, however.
Just 7 to 23 from beyond New York percentage was similar.
But the number of attempts was a far cry different between these two teams.
Rebounds, basically, even at 49 to 47 in favour of Orlando.
Orlando did knock down 25 of 29 from the free throw line.
That's really a big element.
Well kept him in this one plus six from that standpoint.
In 86% for themselves, the rebounding was in favor of the Orlando Magic on the offensive side.
12 8 37 39 Defensive advantage for Brooklyn, 26 assists on those 38 made feel go.
So sharing is caring, as we like to say for the Brooklyn Nets on 32 made field goals, 13 assists for the Orlando Magic steals were even at nine apiece and Chios.
I had a number of those who were left with an injury in the fourth.
We'll check in on that and come back in with UPDATE later on this week regarding his status going forward in the Thursday night matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Fastbreak points held at 15 for the Nets there after really having a big surge in the first half in that regard.
But 18 points off of the 17 turnovers for the Orlando Magic and the Nets, they didn't surrender a couple of turnovers there in the second half after having just eight in the 1st 7 more in the 2nd 15 total only converted to 13 points, though, for Orlando, ultimately the largest lead, 21 for Brooklyn and six very early stages for the Orlando Magic.
Inside the box score, as we love to do this was led by over on the magic side of things.
Really, by the end of the day, some of the stat lines look fairly balanced, you would almost say off the bench at 18 point performance from Marquel Fulls, and 12 pitched in there from Birch.
However, ah fools got going a little bit later in this 17 of 18 overall, one of four from beyond the arc did have three turnovers in this one.
So not the strongest game from him, at least initially.
Ah, birth, therefore seven from the field in his 27 minutes and the starting rotation for Orlando.
You had clerk 23 minutes on Lee.
No real assists there had a couple of blocks.
Ah, a couple of rebounds.
Rather no assists.
So there's a quiet life.
That's three point attempts, but three of four from the field over all, four of six.
The line six of eight for a one do at the line.
Himself, 5 11 overall from the field, ended up with a team high or tied for the team high with both at 18.
Vucevic's in just 21 minutes of action, five of 15 12 points.
The turnovers here really spread out around that starting rotation.
Three for Ennis, two for a one do Vucevic's and Augustine as well.
Augustine couldn't find his rhythm, and this 11 of eight from the field overall, did get the line early, but only ended up with six points to finish out on the Brooklyn Nets. Side of things.
The most important side of things, this was really Ah, nice, well balanced performance.
Cruz gets into foul trouble early in this one.
Onley ends up killing 25 minutes and really a relatively quiet game for him.
One steal, one block, nine rebounds, which was solid, played out of position there at the five.
At one point there, the second unit consisted off when he came back in Cruise.
That is, in that second unit after the foul trouble of a very large Lance Thomas whole Karube, Moussa and I believe Martin got that run there with that unit.
So, uh, certainly Jock born playing a little bit with the rotation, seeing what kind of value to get out from some of these other players in the starting lineup, though she owes a finishes with just three points.
However, in 21 minutes of action prior to leaving with the injury, he did have three rebounds five assists and four steals.
So a lot of effective play from him, Tyler Johnson and his 22 minutes have actually give you 14 points on five of 10 shooting from the field and also dished out five times.
And then, if you wanna have the guys that were ah, Spectrum here in terms off not so impressive versus incredibly, ah, strong performance, that would be Justin Anderson, who had 31 minutes went one of 15 from the field o of 12 from beyond the arc.
Five rebounds, two assists, two turnovers, just two points in this one.
Then he got TLC.
Timothy Luqa Borough finished this one out brilliantly in 24 minutes.
Eight of 12 4 of eight from deep, four of four at the line, seven rebounds.
Had a steal to go along with it as well.
24 points in the game for him.
But off that bench, despite early foul trouble, survived with five was hole in 31 minutes.
Five of seven gave you nine rebounds, gave you 10 points.
Two blocks of steel in this is to go along with it.
Only the one turnover so started out a little bit negative really ended up finishing with a fairly solid performance in this one, though some pants that and going on over the latter stages of the fort.
Ah, Lan Thomas, listen best performance in the Nets uniform in 24 minutes.
3 or four from deep.
That's enough, said about him.
Here's the big focal point for me.
He really contributes.
Great goes almost the lengthier 38 minutes.
Five of 15 shootings.
Not fantastic to a seven from deep but 58 at the line.
Gave you six rebounds, six assists.
So did a nice job distributing, but the four turnovers with 17 points, really, for him, not unlike were a lot of these young players.
Look, it's just the positive is there.
But then it's mixed in right.
It's It's for every two steps forward.
It's one step back protecting the basketball, making the right basketball.
Please, not getting caught in the lane in a crowd on just being under control.
That's where you can continue to grow, but it's a nice little shine here.
Nice little liver from that regard, and then it's Jeremiah Morton.
27 minutes, eight of 15 from the field.
Seven of eight of the line give you two rebounds to go along with his six assists, which was incredible.
Incredible performance there. Just the one.
Turnover had a steal as well.
24 points led the team along with TLC.
So really an incredibly balanced performance from Jeremiah Morton.
It got me thinking, waxing poetic out loud on social media about whether there could be some real value and thinking about a backcourt next year that might be comprised of Kyrie, Irving Caris, Levert, Spencer Dinwiddie and Jeremiah Mort.
We Ah, we had highlighted this on a previous broadcast about how, in a 63 minute sample size, which is incredibly small for Martin, he was, Ah, plus 5.
1 on the defensive end in terms of rapture rating.
So incredible the defensive value.
If you can offer you some offensive output or even just facilitation, that's more than enough for me to sign off on him.
Especially over, let's say, Ah, backcourt teammate in this game in Shiozawa again, the size limitations for me, for him or a concern offensively, you don't need a lot from him, but he's very inconsistent.
The shots from the perimeter a struggle at ties for him.
He's going to get lost in the shuffle.
It's about creating complimentary basketball on the roster.
And what you would get from Martin is defensive output, yet some length from Caris Levert.
And then you know that between obviously the vert But Spencer dimwit, he can take over and lead the team in the second unit.
You know what you're getting from Kyrie? So having someone that could like what Revert is a probably, you know, neutral toe plus on the defensive end.
But Kyrie and Spencer Dinwiddie are not going to be high values on that into the floor.
So creating balance and value on this roster is important.
And I think you may have found something here in Jeremiah Martin inside the bubble in Orlando.
You say a quick shot out there, Teoh, what you got there to lows? To Chris To pat.
How are you? Thanks for coming in the broadcast and everybody else that joined us here in our postgame wrap up.
We take a quick step aside here just to see if we get anything in terms of Doug Nuggets over on the twittersphere.
Things blowing up over there from Matt Brooks from Nolan Jensen.
A lot of positivity around this game, obviously, listen.
The Nets moved to five in two with one more victory, which will come on Thursday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.
This will be a team that will finish the season 500.
I mean, for whatever that's worth may not seem like a lot, but going five and two or six and two in this bubble, finishing the Season 500 making it the playoffs again here back to back seasons, having Jack Bowen flex some of his coaching muscles.
These are all very important stepping stones on the path to a championship where obviously, we hope this is going to end their listen.
This has been a fall from grace for the Orlando Magic.
Obviously, they lost Aaron Gordon and dealing with other injuries.
48 didn't play in this game.
They're locked in that easy.
They'll have to take on the Bucks in round one that's are locked in the Toronto Raptors.
That game will kick off on Ah, let me just go ahead and confirm that here on the 17th and 18th with back to back games starting so we can look ahead to that and know that when those games come, so that will be, Ah, that will be on Monday.
So you will catch that on Monday and Tuesday, back to back games against Toronto. Get that.
Siri's going to be interesting to see what Martin has done and what he 10 do in the Portland game.
To maybe carve out an opportunity for himself, especially against the matchup against the Toronto Raptors.
Again, the defensive upside, I think, is worth taking a look at their how you might want to work this rotation.
If you want to consider maybe giving Martin or run here.
If he could have even a fraction of that offensive output can combine with the defensive output.
There's value there.
She owes a can still get in there and play against Lowry and against Van Fleet, just from a size standpoint.
But ultimately, he's not a high defensive upside God.
So you know, Listen, Siaca matchup is going to be difficult.
Thankfully, Gasol is not the most athletic big, so he can hit from the perimeter.
I think Jared Allen should have some opportunity, keep himself in front of him and then you wonder, even though Land Thomas has been fairly bad over his run here with Brooklyn, the Bubble, someone like that with his size, you know, maybe there's defensive value there in that matchup is, well, occasionally.
And then ultimately, you probably may see obviously, Jared Allen.
But maybe some crews is gonna have to come out there and play against the likes of Gasol, keep himself in front of them and just frustrated a little bit.
The matchup that's gonna be obviously a disaster for most teams and very difficult for the Nets is going to be SIAC.
Um, who's gonna pick up that assignment? Will it at times be a player like Caris, Levert and 10? The Nets continue just to keep this rhythm going for themselves? Whatever the results, maybe they're putting every one of their best feet forward so far in the bubble again.
Five into looking ahead to a good matchup here on Thursday night.
How important will it be relative to the games that play out right now, the San Antonio Spurs are leading, um, over the as we pull it up here on the game action.
They were a pretty big here against the Houston Rockets.
They are now up in the third quarter, 85 to 66.
So right now the Spurs were going to keep pressure.
If they can pull this one out, they're going to keep a lot of pressure on those two teams ahead of them in the Phoenix Suns, undefeated so far in the bubble and the Portland Trail Blazers.
So these next couple of games are going to be crucial.
There's more action coming on later today, so keep an eye on it.
That's for the Western Conference.
As far as the Nets are concerned, just keep playing sound team basketball.
Tyler Johnson look good, and this one is, well, economy kind of glossing over him.
But the reality is, is that after a decent first game, he looked a little bit out of sorts there for a few last couple performances have been strong from him.
So you don't think of a tip of the cap in his direction as well.
With that understanding that if he can give you anything close to the 22 minutes five attend 14 points, zero turnovers.
So protecting the basketball, incredibly important got to the basket.
A couple times in this one knock down.
His two free throws gave you those five assists.
That's going to be important.
But when we talk about, you know you're not going to see a ton of Moussa.
When it comes to getting into that playoff series, there's just there's too much up and down with him to really know what you're going to get.
That's why Martin's aren't getting a simple size.
When you move towards the playoffs, maybe the game against Portland get you that direction.
But the point being when you look at the assists from this game, right, that's where you're starting to think about.
Well, six from Martin.
That certainly raises an eyebrow you like that she owes you.
Gave you, gave you five in this one and then Tyler Johnson No.
When you have livered out there, when you have journal, when you have Joe Harris, that obviously changes the entire dynamic.
These are the back end guys.
These are the guys that can spell in some difficult spots, but don't be surprised if she owes is struggles in that playoff in the first playoff game against the Toronto Raptors, Jacques phone has already shown that he's more than willing to pull the plug on something, isn't working and go in a different, different direction.
We say hello to Rosie, baseball love and thank you for doing the broadcast and for following us here as we give you all that delicious Brooklyn next coverage.
So with it, it's another big performance.
It's another big victory.
Have one more game to check off your winner.
Lose, though, finish with an above 500 record in the bubble.
Which is incredibly important, I think relative to this team into some of the players on this roster.
And then as we look ahead once again to those playoffs, don't expect to see a lot of hole in the postseason there.
So we're really at last times I threw that out there.
But you know, when it comes down to it, you're going to see Laverty Harris, Allen.
You're going to get Karush, and that's starting rotation more likely than not on.
Then you just and obviously Garrett Temple is going to be there as well for you.
And then you just think about the Martins, the Tyler Johnson's and I mean really, boy, if I was pushed to give you all of them TLC.
Those are going to be the extra three guys that you're really going to be honed in on in terms of what they're giving you.
That's why I put Martin into that category because of the defensive upswing that he can give you, and you're going to need it A times when facing the offensive runs.
The incredibly crisp, very tight unit.
They move the ball very well.
Very cohesive for the Toronto Raptors.
So we'll come in later in the week and over the weekend and start to break down that matchup highly.
What Toronto's done in the bubble been a strong performance from them as well.
Nick Nurse, Very well coached, so you know we'll dive into that deeper.
Let's sit back and enjoy another victory for the Brooklyn Nets.
One away, 96 over the Orlando Magic.
They moved to five and two in the bubble.
They enter a little bit closer to a 500 record on the season, and we enter a couple of days closer to the official start of the N B A playoffs.
