What's going on, everybody? My name is Joe New Beau here for SportsCastr and news.
I am joined by my co host, Lawrence and Ray.
How you guys do and ready to talk about Tom Brady and the Bucks for the millionth time, I think we're gonna be talking about everybody.
Probably the probably OK, so apparently LaShawn McCoy was talking with Gronk about how impressed he is with Tom Brady.
Um, so, first of all, we didn't really discuss the whole Shawn McCoy signing.
What did you guys think about that? Let's talk about that first, and then we can just get into our main topic of today.
How about that, Lawrence? What did you think about that? I think it is good signing.
They needed another running back.
I think that McCoy brings that extra disperse out of the back to you.
I mean, I don't think he's going to be the same LaShawn McCoy.
Obviously that was around, you know, 78 years ago that you could just break out an 80 yard touchdown run.
But, I mean, he brings some nice juice and giddy up out of the backfield.
Hey, catch the ball out of the backfield, which is something that Tom Brady is absolutely gonna love, and it's a good pick up.
I didn't see what the contract will swore, but, yeah, I didn't see that either.
So So how do you feel now about this Bucks running game? Because we've always talked about that on offense.
Probably the weakness is gonna be the running game.
But now, with the LaShawn McCoy addition, do we feel a little more confident now? We're not really know.
The Shawn McCoy lost his starting job in Kansas City last year, and we're acting like this is the LaShawn McCoy from five years ago.
He lost, lost his starting job to a team who'd on a team that doesn't run the football.
You weren't good enough to run the ball eight times a game that they had to look somewhere else.
So, no, this doesn't improve their running game whatsoever.
He's another old man added to that roster, and he's probably way.
Way we're soft and broken.
Grady Brady or sitting right now, LaShawn McCoy is best days are long behind him.
Yeah, I think I have to agree.
Um, so anyway, So the Bucks are one of the teams that are favored to win the Super Bowl this year.
As Lawrence was just letting me know before the stream, Um, and I was actually a little bit surprised at some of the teams that they actually have better odds then.
So, Lawrence, why don't we go down the list men? And you know, if we have any issues, we can just stop you.
I mean, honestly, in my opinion, the top four isn't that much arguing on this.
You know, you got the A F.
C with the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens, and then the next is the NFC with San Francisco in New Orleans.
I am 100% on board, with those two teams from each conference being 1234 No problem with that, Sure, but then you get into the range of Bucks Cowboys, Patriots, Eagles and I'm like, Hold on, wait a minute.
I can see a few teams That should be a little in that vicinity.
I could see the Cowboys being up there.
I could see the Patriots being in that vicinity, especially with Cam Newton and the fact that they're going to make the playoffs because they have a good starting quarterback now after they lost Brady and they're good there.
But Tampa Bay's loaded with a bunch of old guys.
And when they get to that point of getting into the Super Bowl, how are these guys going to be feeling at that point? That's what I want to know.
Um, I I don't like that.
I think Philadelphia's listed a little high.
I think Seattle should be where Tampa is because I think Seattle is a very good team.
They always end up up up there, around the NFC championship year in, year out.
Um, I don't see Minnesota being number 11.
I think the bills, the Packers, I think they should be hired than them.
I'm okay with the coal to be intent.
I, um I might actually have the Seahawks over the Niners.
Maybe that's a little bit of ah ha take.
But I I actually am favoring the Seahawks toe win the division now, ever since they brought in Jamal Adams.
Um, cause I like I've been saying, I thought they were a good team, and now they've added that piece.
And you even agreed with me, Lawrence, that it totally changes that defense.
Um, so I would almost say that the Niners are a little too high because we do have to take into account that I think they're going to regress a little bit.
Um, you know, we've talked about it endlessly before, so yeah, I'm surprised Seattle's that low.
I'm actually kind of surprised.
So who was the Patriots over again? Let's let's let's get Ray a little ****ed off.
Why not? Oh, the Patriots are ahead of Seattle E.
I don't like that, Um there ahead of Buffalo there ahead of the Colts.
Find with that, are ahead of Green Bay.
And those air favorites for one book in Vegas.
There you go to all different books, and it's going to be different.
And it's all perspective, right? I mean, let's face it, Jo.
Every team is going to regress this year, but the Baltimore Ravens air only going to get better, right? You know, I mean, it's it's all it and I've heard this, you know, the same bull come from everybody's mouth.
Not just us three from everybody.
Everybody over values their team.
They undervalue other teams.
They look at things around.
This guy's unstoppable.
This guy's a 1,000,000 years old.
This is that one thing that Vegas has done really good is actually predict these things.
You know what I mean? I mean, they like day.
There's a reason that Vegas makes more money than us, right? There's a reason that the House never loses.
They're actually pretty good at these things when you look at point spreads and stuff, and I know you can point to this game in that game.
But when you look at how many times they hit it right on the nose of their point spread, man, these guys know there, ISS, um, at the end of the day, what? We could all sit here and make our rankings from Super Bowl favorites or not.
Of course, the 40 Niners air going to be up there there that, you know they went to the Super Bowl last year.
Kansas City has to be there.
They were the Super Bowl champions last year.
I mean, it's you could for every team you could think of an argument of why they should be there and why they shouldn't You know what I mean for every single team.
I mean, I could easily look at the Patriots and say, While you're bringing in a brand new quarterback, you no longer have Tom Brady lost on the high tower.
You shouldn't be there.
Well, Lamar Jackson has showed he can't win a playoff game.
They shouldn't be Super Bowl champions because you gotta win a playoff game before you could be a favorite to win the Super Bowl.
You know, the cult shouldn't be there because they have old man Philip Rivers.
And then we could flip it all around and say, Well, the Patriots got Bill. Ballot Shack.
Who's the best coach in the history of the game? They're gonna have a top three defense in the NFL.
And Cam Newton looks like the Cam Newton from 2011 but should be favorites to win the Super Bowl.
Well, you know Lamar Jackson is going to be going to his third year as a full time starter.
He's gonna be even better, and, you know, and that defense is still gonna be great.
That's where they should be favorite.
And hey, man, the Colts have a run game Philip Rivers doesn't have to do on his own.
We could foot this script anyway.
We want to do it right.
It's so easy to do.
It's so easy to boost one team bang down one team.
Um, you know, we've admitted on this show publicly that sometimes we just go the other way just for entertainment values of the three of us aren't here kissing each other's ass. They know smart.
We are, you know, um and that's the whole piece.
Uh, I never at all.
I'll pay attention to preseason favorites because the Patriots were the favorites to win the Super Bowl going in the last season there.
Number one on that list.
Kansas City number two.
They continue to be favorites until they were for no.
And then all of a sudden they started dropping down the list and nobody could figure out why.
And it's because you could see they weren't a legit for no team.
They weren't a legit eight. No team.
Um, yet everybody around, you know, every piece schedule over and over again, right? It's a thing.
And you know, so it all comes down to this.
It comes down to who the central is.
I mean, how Joe had a answer winning the Super Bowl until he saw it really saw their schedule.
You what? I mean, they were exaggerating.
What? It's you know, it all comes down to the end of the day.
It's all subjective.
Um, you know, and for the purpose of this show will argue it, and we'll have fun and whatnot.
But at the end of the day, it's, you know, Vegas is pretty accurate on how this would go around, and it's, you know, and then we'll sit here and put our twist on everything else.
So Well, I don't know where to go from here. No.
Okay, so Well, I guess we do have to preview the Super Bowl.
It's, you know, no games have been played.
This is we're not even having a preseason.
So we don't even have any preseason games to go off of here.
Um, but just I guess who would be your favorites, right? And I guess we can start with Lawrence Weaken, start on the NFC side and then raking.
Give his NFC pick, and then I can give mine.
I guess if you want to do it that way just to extend it as much as we can.
Well, I'm still going.
San Francisco is my favorite on the NFC side.
Just incredible fact.
I get that they lost, um, Sanders.
But they did pick up a wide receiver.
They lost the running back, but they picked up another one.
They still got that all offensive line.
They still got that defense.
I think that they're still tops, but like you said, Seattle is very intriguing.
You gotta put him up there.
Right? So those are your top three, in my opinion, is New Orleans, Seattle.
And who can transfer Visco those? Those are my top three on the NFC.
And then after that, you got that group, uh, teams you just don't really know. 100%.
They should be really good.
You know, Dallas should be really good. They got the talent.
That's why I'm putting him at the level below, because they didn't make the playoffs last year.
But talent once you're kind of like, you know, the browns, they got all the town in the world.
They just can't freakin win, right? Um, yeah.
At least the Cowboys go 500 the Browns can't even accomplish that.
I just had to be Oh, all right.
Before you go any further and blow my build up for my pick for the NFC because you'll preview every NFC team, give every reason, and I can't build mine up.
My favorites of the Dallas Cowboys.
Um, this isn't the Jason Garrett Thomas Calarca Dallas Cowboys.
You what? I mean, this is this.
This is a Super Bowl winning coach, Mike McCarthy now coaching the Dallas Cowboys.
And I think there's a lot of people that haven't put that into consideration this year.
Um, you know, we've sat there forever, right there. Like the Browns.
They have all this talent in the world, yet they can't seem to get it together.
Well, Mike McCarthy is a proven coach, and he had success for years in Green Bay.
Um, and if you want to turn around and say Green Day's better without him, the NFC championship game told me that it wasn't.
You know, um, maybe they made a little further I've never seen him like McCarthy Team gets smacked around like that in a playoff game ever.
You know, and the rumors are already out there that LaFleur has had it with Aaron Rodgers.
So maybe maybe Mike McCarthy wasn't the problem in in, ah, in Green Bay following them.
Then I have the Seattle Seahawks because I think Pete Carroll is a very underrated coach.
I think they their I think their entire roster this season is underrated.
As for what they are, Um, and then my third team in the NFC is actually the New Orleans Saints.
Um, it just because of Peyton, because a breeze, it's, you know, And sometimes I believe that I believe in the football gods or whatever you want to call it.
And you know, we saw with Peyton and it wouldn't shock me if Drew Brees got a second and rolled off of the sunset with a ring, either.
So those are my three guys, but that I think the Dallas Cowboys are going to be a very different Dallas Cowboy team because they're almost identical.
They're actually probably improved, and now they actually have a coach, uh, who's not going to coach them toe losses.
All right, well, so I guess we're doing top three teams now, which I didn't know, but that's fine.
I'm down for that.
I'm actually gonna have the Saints as my favorite toe.
Go to the to the Super Bowl for the NFC.
And it's because of what you said, Ray.
Whether it's the football gods, whether you believe leave the NFL is actually scripted or whatever, whether whatever it is divine intervention, justice, whatever you want to call it, I believe the Saints for the past few years have just been screwed, right? For one reason or another, they just don't win the game and they can't move on to the Super Bowl.
I think this will be the year that they finally get over the hump.
I think it has to be because this could very well be Drew Brees is last year.
So it's almost like that running off into the sunset thing like you said Ray with Peyton Manning with Ray Lewis also did it, so I could definitely see the Saints actually making it all the way this year.
I think they have the talent and I think they have you know the karma on their side.
If if you believe in that.
So that's that's my number one team in the NFC.
They got to get a call at some point, right? Yeah. Yeah.
So maybe that will happen this year.
Um, so seconds I might actually have Seattle as number two.
I really do think that I I just have a feeling man. Russell Wilson.
You know, he seems to be that type of quarterback.
That's not just gonna win one.
Eventually, he's going to get a second.
I feel like so maybe that's gonna be this year.
Or at least he's gonna be in another Super Bowl.
Um, it's very possible.
And I think they have a very solid team.
And again, the addition of Jamal Adams just totally transforms that defense.
Eso Yeah, they're my number two team and number three.
So you guys said Sant friend, Why did he didn't he doesn't have sanfran in the top three.
Oh, that's right.
He at Dallas is his favorite.
See? Yeah, I'm just not that big of a believer in those two teams.
Unfortunately, uh, it's kind of tough man.
I might actually have Tampa.
I might actually put Tampa in there.
I'm telling you, I'm pretty high on this Tampa Bay team, which I know you guys aren't, but I think that they're going to surprise some people.
And it's not necessarily because of Tom Brady, but Tom Brady doesn't have to be, you know, amazing.
He doesn't have to be the goat.
He just has to be an average to decent quarterback.
And I think that, you know, the team can play well, so I'm actually gonna put Tampa Bay is my number three.
Maybe a little bit of a shocker, but im to do it anyway, So that's how I feel.
So why don't we move on to the A F.
C? Uh, Lawrence, why don't you start again, Men.
What? We passed this one off the ray.
Let him start off.
Okay, so I started last time.
Well, I mean, you got the easy ones in the A F C.
U got the Kansas City Chiefs.
Obviously the defending Super Bowl champions who have the exact same team that just won the Super Bowl has to be a number one.
Ah, you would expect by record that bald.
The Baltimore Ravens would probably be there at number two and then you fall into it.
You get into a really big mash up of teams where you got teams like the Houston Texans, the Cleveland Browns.
Um, you know, I you know, I'm sure you guys throw a team like the Tennessee Titans in there.
Um, it's is it a tougher pick? And, you know, honestly, for the third overall for that a f C.
It's I'm trying to think with my head here and not my heart, obviously.
Um, but I am gonna put the Patriots at number three behind Baltimore in Kansas City.
Now, when I say that, I'm going to say there's a big gap between number two and number three in the A F C.
Much bigger than it is in the NFC.
But I'm gonna put the Patriots Onley because of that defense on Lee because of al attack on Lee because of Cam Newton.
Um and I've watched this team and time and time again respond to when people say they're done finished and over with in the way they come back.
And yet we lost Tom Brady.
But now they got another quarterback who's got a chip on their shoulder.
Um, and I think you got a head coach has got a chip on his shoulder right now to that, wants to prove that he's not only as his success because of a quarterback.
Um, but, like I said, no matter which team you intertwined there, even if I were to pick a team like Cleveland, who really on paper should be that number three team, I still think the gap between two and three eyes a lot wider than it is in the NFC.
Okay, Lawrence, how do you feel? Oh, my goodness.
This is gonna end up being kind of a homer.
Is home resume without intentionally being that way? I do.
I do like my team.
They're not Number one, though.
Uh, by by no means I think number one and number two is obvious in the A F. C.
I think Kansas City obviously they're Super Bowl champions and same sticking team.
And that just means that they finally got the hunt.
Baltar back started winning game to the playoffs, and now they know how to do it because they've already done it.
Baltimore being number two just because of it. Talent on the team.
Their year Mawr experience, especially Lamar Jackson, is a year more experience.
They added a player, a couple players.
Now they lost a couple players as well.
But I think they added enough talent to make up for the talent that they lost.
And they just need to get that ****** off their back and win that playoff game.
That's that's really all it is.
And once they get that down, I think they could start ruling, um, and raise right, raised right. It is.
It is a drop between the top two, especially considering a lot of these teams are completely different, right? Um, New England? Yes, they have the same defense and they got mostly the same offense.
But I mean, they got a whole brand new quarterback at the helm.
Same situation, You know, they have to say basically the same defense.
With one exception.
They basically got the same offense with a couple rookies added.
But they got a brand new quarterback at the helm.
So the reason I'll go with with Indy is because again, it's the same situation with the Drew Brees situation, right? The River's hasn't won a Super Bowl.
Philip Rivers is getting here, is in.
Philip Rivers is also with a coach that has the last time he was with them.
He was an all Pro quarterback, right in Frank Reich and ah and next Syriani.
So I think this is a situation where I think Indy is there.
But, man, those other teams air right there, too.
It's hard to pick between like Indian Buffalo and New England, and you know, teams like that.
It really is so deaf.
Yeah, and that's what I was actually gonna bring up.
I think that you're just your regular casual fan would probably put the Bills at the number three spot, right.
But again, I think we all agree that well, Lawrence is a little higher on Josh Allen, but I don't believe in Josh Allen.
Ray is not a believer of Josh Allen.
Also, there the bills.
So there's that factor.
Um, so that's why we probably didn't mention them at all.
I just wanted to let you know, let let people know that are watching, and they're like, what? How can you not say the Bills.
They're a good team.
They have a great defense.
But I just don't think Josh Allen is gonna be able to take him that far.
That's the number one in the number. Pursuit.
Uh, I know you are A Ravens friend is picking Ravens to go to the Super Bowl. Incredible.
I can't believe it, but I truly am men, and I just I have a good feeling about this year.
I don't know if we'll win the Super Bowl, but I do think that I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be favored.
It's a good team.
It's a great team.
Like we said, the Chiefs are pretty much the same Super Bowl team from last year, right? But the Ravens air pretty much the same 14 and two team.
Obviously, we didn't get it done in the playoffs, but, you know, granted, um, this is the same team.
But even better, in my opinion, with the addition of Kallias Campbell Param up with secondary is gonna be nasty.
Jude on on the franchise tag.
Um, I think that we just have to get over that hump like you said Lawrence.
We have to get past that wall that we haven't been able to win a playoff game with Lamar yet, and I think if we're able to push through that, why not go all the way? I could totally see it happening.
Obviously, the Chiefs are gonna be, you know, one of the biggest roadblocks, just like the Patriots used to be with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.
They were always the team to beat in the A f. C.
I believe the Chiefs are going to become that and, uh, for my number three team this and stuff Chargers.
No, no, no, Let's not go.
That, for this is a little tough because there's a lot of teams that have a lot of question marks.
But I do think I was kind of looking it over, and I'm like, debating with myself.
I got to go with the Patriots.
I got agree with Raman, and it's just because it's Bill Belichick and I really like Cam Newton.
I know they had a lot of players opting out, but it's Bill Belichick, man, how many times have we seen him take some random guy off the street and turn them into a superstar in his system because he knows what he wants from players.
And that's what makes Bill Belichick such a good coach is that he just tells him, This is what I need you to do and just do that do nothing else, right? Cause he knows what their strengths are.
So I see no reason.
And until I see that the Patriots are truly dead until they're eliminated for the playoffs, I will believe.
But as of now, I cannot believe that they're truly dead.
So, yeah, I'm actually going to go with the Patriots as the number three team, so I absolutely see the Patriots as as one of those teams that are a danger in the playoffs.
Without any question, I think when it comes to the playoffs, the only way any team what those top two don't make you know that those top go to the Super Bowl is first of all.
I mean, you guys have all been there.
We were lucky enough to be fan that have all seen our teams win Super Bowls in recent history, like we have fond memories of watching it happen.
Um, you always no matter how good your team is.
You always need a little bit of lock.
A little bounce here, a penalty.
I mean, a broken play here to get you to the Super Bowl.
Um, when you watch every game this year, I mean, even every playoff game.
I mean, unfortunately, besides that Baltimore Tennessee game, there was no blowouts, Right? Everything is close, you know.
You think about that Tennessee game.
If the Patriots make one stop, maybe things are a little bit different, but they didn't.
You know that defense, who held strong the whole time against Tennessee, missed it when they needed it.
But you go all the way back and think that defense that was so strong all year, if they make one stop against Miami, well, now they're starting, probably in Baltimore.
Do what I mean on in the in the second round of the playoffs, in the quarterfinals or whatever rather than than that.
So the only I think any team that's going to get beyond Kansas City in Baltimore is number one.
You need a little bit of luck with seeding that maybe those two have to play each other in the playoffs before the NFC championship.
That one of them takes third just because of the way records.
You know what I mean? Shake out, Um, and and then you need good things to happen.
It's funny because you look at a team like Tennessee and they beat Houston on the last game of the season to get into the playoffs.
Then they beat New England.
Then they beat Baltimore.
They beat three of the four division winners and they made the play Kansas City and it all, you know. And it stopped.
They had a lead on them, too, though, so they did.
But the odds that you're gonna beat four division winners for weeks in a row is really slim to none.
At some point you're gonna break down, you're going to get outclassed or the good teams are going to see it.
And one thing that Kansas City did that nobody else seemed to be able to figure out was how to slow down Derrick Henry.
You know what I mean? And they figured out a way to slow him down, and the more and more they get to watch you in the more and more film they get, the more and more you get to take advantage of that kind of stuff.
Um, so I think that for any of those teams from three and down to even get to the NFC championship and not play or, you know, urge get to the Super Bowl, you're going to need a little bit of ball lock.
And I think again.
And that's why I have a team like the Patriots, because that's when coaching could actually mean Mawr than the talent you have on the fields.
You know, I think about the Patriots final Super Bowl that they want with Tom Brady there.
I mean, Bill Belichick put on a clinic against Sean McVey.
Your name and just just kind of, you know, taught the kid a lesson and what it means the coach in the Super Bowl.
Um, so it's it's you know what I mean? If everything stays if no, but there's no colossal injuries, you what I mean and it doesn't have to be Lamar or Mahomes, but if two or three of their offensive linemen go down, it becomes a completely different team.
Know what I mean? It's you know, Lamar can run, But when nobody can block, you don't even have two seconds to try to get it.
Or it seemed with, you know, same with bombs.
There's no colossal injuries.
You know, It should be a fun year.
And it probably should shake out with those two at the top.
No, I guess Battellino for who gets the first round by, um, And then, you know, and then seeing who has the momentum in the lock running into the into the playoffs? Yep.
Sounds about right.
Well, um so anything else? Um oh, did we talk about the dairy? ISG ice on stream? I think we talked about it before.
I want to go back to Brady for a second.
Before we before we get off this subject, I want to read this.
So I was I came across this today and this is where I don't think again.
Not that I'm not high on the box.
I told you, though, the first little while is gonna be a problem.
They will get stronger as the year goes on.
But here's Tom Brady and how he's learning to, at 43 years old how to become a Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
So here's his quote, he says.
It's been different having the opportunity over the time to over this time to move and, for example, studying my playbook.
I really haven't had to do that in 19 years.
So you forget, man, that's really tough.
It's all the little different terminologies Ah, you're going back a very long time in my career where I really had to put in that kind of mental energy like I did.
You're trying to learn a bunch of different things and you're trying not to you.
And you're trying to not only learn an offense, you're tryingto learn the way with the guys you work.
You're trying to learn their names.
I don't even know where the quarterback room is.
Ah, we get a little better, but I'm glad we're not playing getting this money, and I'm glad we have time to prepare.
Here's the thing that Tom Brady's got to deal with that he hasn't dealt with since he was 24 years old.
We always talk about Tom Brady's mental toughness and his way to drive a team and get better, right? But we've never really taken a consideration that Tom Brady's never had to think going into a season.
You mean with a playbook? Since the playbook hasn't changed, it's Charlie Weis.
There's been three different offensive coordinators since I came in, you know? I mean, you got a different play here or there, but it's been very consistent in every offensive coordinator.
Whether it's Bill O Brien, Josh McDaniels, they're all Patriots system guys who learned from Charlie Weis and move their way up and continued running the same system.
It's why defensive coordinators are so interchangeable in New England because you're just running Bill Belichick's defense.
At the end of the day, the offense of coordinators and defensive coordinators in New England don't actually have that much say in what the offense is gonna look like.
Everything cycles through Bill Belichick and you go through.
That's where I think, at least for the first little bit of the season, especially with no preseason games, you can run as many simulations as you want, you know, that's why I think it seemed like Kansas City like Baltimore.
They're gonna have a big advantage over teams like the Bucks and the Patriots and the Colts and that who are are coming in with new.
I don't care how much talent either team has your coming in with a brand new quarterback who's not even be able to play a game before today, you know, before the first game of the season.
And Tom Brady is a guy who depends on timing, who depends on, you know, his receivers, knowing what he's going to do.
And one thing we all know is you can practice all you want.
The only way you learn for Riel is the play games right? The only way you learn is to be in game situations and know what Tom Brady wants because Tom Brady stays cooler and practice when he knows the guy can't hit him.
You mean in these under pressure, he can hold it for an extra second half? Nobody is holding up in during the game.
You're going to get hit, which means that ball probably comes out of second faster.
Um, that's where having guys like consistency with Julian Edelman and that comes in the place.
Yes, he's got Gronkowski, but he on.
Lee has Gronkowski.
He got all the other guys are still gonna be learning that timing.
And that's why I think that it's going to be difficult for the blocks.
At first I said a fight by mid season, they'll have it all sorted out, and they just got to survive that first part of the season, which they probably should do on talent alone.
But that's why I not them not high in this team.
I just don't think they're gonna come out of the gates flying.
Um, I mean, break never comes out of the gates flying ever in his career.
You mean let alone on a brand new team with Brandon terminologies on a brand new offense? So let me ask you this question, Ray, because U.
S a Patriots fan, obviously no way more about Tom Brady's personality that I ever could.
Do you think it's possible? Do you think it's just a possibility that maybe Tom Brady is just playing like, Oh, golly, gee, you know, I'm on a new team and I'm learning new plays and I don't know.
I'm not not really getting it to, you know, just just to kind of throw people off and say, Oh, he's kind of struggling.
You know, he's not going to do as well this year, and then he comes out and he's like, Oh, I know the playbook like the back of my hand.
I know Mike Evans over there.
I know Chris Godwin over here. O. J.
Howard, Taman Great.
No problem book dotting everybody up.
Do you think that's a possibility? Do you think he's actually just know he's speaking the truth? Because it doesn't matter what he knows.
That's the thing.
That's the difference with playing with Tom Brady.
It doesn't matter what he knows about you.
It's what you have to know about him.
1,000,000,000 element always talks about the sonar.
You what I mean when he when you break routes, you have to know what Tom Brady is thinking because he's going to start looking that part of the field.
And if you're on a stretch play and suddenly it's collapsing, you gotta know where to go.
It's not just you don't just go back for Tom Brady.
Tom Brady wants you to change your route.
You what? I mean in New England, when when we get little pieces of what the playbook looks like every receiver has three routes.
You what I mean And you better know what Brady wants you to run because he's not going to tell you.
You better just be able to look at how he has everything set up.
Or look how the place breaking down and how it's gonna set up.
That's where I think you know and terminologies.
You gotta learn terminologies.
We've heard about those struggles with every quarterback as you try to learn their new type of terminologies, he'll get over that.
It's gonna be those guys trying to learn what Brady wants.
Then the other way.
Don't forget good Godwin in Evans.
These are two guys that are used to just running down the fields.
You what? I mean in running far, Um, and then Jameis Winston would try to throw to them even when they're in trouble.
Tom Brady ain't gonna do that.
Tom Brady's gonna throw the ball away, and he's going to scream at you on the sideline, right? That's where so Tom Brady does not to learn anything about his receivers together.
It's never been Tom Brady's game.
That's why guys like Wes Welker and Julian Edelman work and guys like Ochocinco don't cause Ochocinco was a pre but on a receiver that expected Brady to adapt to him.
So, Brady, that said, I'm not gonna throw you the football where Randy Moss actually came in and said, Okay, I'm gonna sit beside Brady and I'm gonna learn I'm going to get to know Brady is I need to know what he's going to do.
Peyton was the same way.
You didn't like he didn't learn about you.
You weren't about him.
So that's where I think.
I think that's where the problems are gonna be.
Yeah, I think that you said it.
I mean, Brady's that guy where you know he'll go up to the line of scrimmage and he'll see you know he'll get movement and stuff to figure out what defense is happening.
Once he knows the defense, all he's got to do what he always had to do in the past years is just give a wide receiver a specific look, and that receiver knows where on the field.
He needs to be at exactly what time and now These receivers are going to have to learn that on their own right, all fresh and and that's gonna take time.
That's just repetition, man.
Just sitting there and doing it over and over and over.
And that's why I agree when it comes to timing and understanding each other, getting a mess going that that's just that's just something that's going to take time to get to get down.
It's very similar to what they had in Baltimore the last couple of years with Lamar Jackson, except with the offensive line where the offensive line had to know what was gonna happen because on an option play, you don't know until the ball snaps what's gonna happen.
But the team just kind of had to look at that defense and how they came in.
And no, this is what Lamar's going to do.
So you don't get nailed for a 1,000,000 in a logical man downfield penalties or or you know, you let up on a block because you think he's throwing.
Um, it's Ah, it's If Baltimore ever goes through a situation where have a big overhaul on offensive line, you'll see struggles at the beginning of the year is those guys try to get their timing with Lamar? It's why Just and Brady is a guy Brady.
Stop throwing a Randy Moss.
Brady didn't throw to Chad Johnson.
You know what I mean? Ah, Brady is a guy that if he doesn't trust you, he won't throw you the ball.
And trust me, he's not going to give a ****.
If the guy's name is Mike, Edwin or Mike Evans or Godwin, he's gonna throw to the guys that he believed that he trusts, right? And all of a sudden, it's gonna be some fourth little five foot nine guy we've never heard of before.
He's gonna become his number one receiver, so it's Ah, Brady the best way.
I mean, the Julian Edelman moved to California and move beside, like, move down the street from Tom Brady before he was in anybody on the team just to play catch with them.
You mean so he could start getting that that that click with him? So now that you brought Julian Edelman, what are your expectations for Julian Edelman like? Because I know himself is like, Oh, I'm gonna prove that I don't need Brady to succeed, but do you really think that's how it's gonna be? Yeah, I mean, I think that every receiver is gonna take a little bit of, Ah, step back this year.
You're going to see a heavier run game.
You're also you got, Whether it's Cam Newton nor Jared Stadium, it's two quarterbacks who can run.
So you're going to see a little bit of R P a place and it's gonna be last.
Just stand in the pocket and throw the ball 50 times.
I mean, Julian Edelman was Jimmy Garoppolo stop receiver when Drew went when and Jacoby percent when Tom Brady was suspended for four games.
Right? And this is something that even Patriot fans are forgetting.
Like we played a few games without Brady.
I know if we played like week 17 games, but we've played some important games without Brady.
He also played a year with Matt Cassel when Brady's Ah Ni was blown out.
You what? I mean, so no, I, um I think that he'll be he'll be okay.
I got anywhere between you know, 6800 yards. Probably.
I'm not expecting 1000 yard season.
It is a slot guy.
He's a reliable slot guy, so it's That's gonna be the big piece.
But Julian Edelman.
Success is gonna come down to what the other guy's conduce.
Marqise Lee, who we didn't know for how he was gonna fare New England anyways, he's not there.
It's really gonna come down in a keel.
Harry and Jacoby Meyers to really step up.
And because if Julian Edelman spends his time double and triple covered like he was last year were you still ended up with 1000 yards, you know, in plain like 1/2 cripple.
But, um I mean, if he's just double covered because everybody, it takes him and James White away, they're gonna have bigger issues anyway, So I think doing that'll be fine.
Um, so anything else voice we've got about what? That's 40 minutes.
I want to talk about sure.
I mean, we could bring it up.
So Darius Geiss, for those that don't know, got arrested and in turn, released from the team straight up.
And I think Ron Rivera even put out a statement about it, So All right, here.
Okay. There you go.
It's actually just from the Washington football team.
Okay, but ah, on Thursday, we learned of a potential domestic violence related incident involving running back dairies.
Guys we immediately learned in the National Football League and have continued to work with them during this process.
We met with various to inform him that he was excused from all team activities pending a review of the matter.
This afternoon we learned that there were multiple charges filed against areas upon review of the nature of these charges and following internal discussions we've had we decided to release Darius immediately.
And men, I was super high on this guy man out of L S U.
I know that he had the off the field issues, but on the field, this guy was just a beast running people over.
So I mean, his career so far in the NFL has just not really been.
I mean, injured his 1st 2 seasons and now, and it subsequently released because of the off the field stuff.
It's just it's pretty sad.
It's pretty sad, but, you know, on being and being that he was on the Washington football team, I mean, with all the politics around that team on the entire off season, there was absolutely no chance they were going to keep them.
As soon as they heard about it, he was gone.
They had no choice.
Even if there was a shadow of doubts that he didn't do it, they had no choice but to move on because they just had one bad look after another.
Yet I wonder if you'll see the Washington football team now kind of followed the Ravens role, where after Ray Rice, we have not taken a chance on anybody with off the field issues.
We have not signed anyone.
That's like, Oh, well, you know, he had a little bit of a domestic dispute.
No, we don't take chances on any of those.
And I think it's for good reason, because the whole Ray Rice thing, definitely.
You know, it was a bad look on It was, But it was a bad look for a different reason, right? It was There was a cover up there right from both of the team and in the league, and I'm not blaming anybody, would've done the same thing.
I'm not even joking.
You mean if I have one of the best running backs in the league, I would have accepted a two game and not said **** either, so it's I'm not.
But it was a good decision and we'll actually kind of the same because they had to move it because I mean Jesus.
I mean, Bill Belichick drafted a serial murderer, still takes chances on guys you know, brought in J.
Jackson, who was arrested in his is a freshman year of college and got Cotton.
You know he'll still take chances on guys.
Juwan Williams just got nailed with a bunch of drugs and paraphernalia this winter in his car.
Um, you know, has a background.
I just think that with the Ravens eel, it was such a bad look with Ray Rice.
They knew they had to keep things clean for a little bit because they could not take the PR wise.
They couldn't handle more groups after them, too, right? They had a lot of those plastic groups and stuff.
I mean, it was just beyond a little bit of fan outrage.
It was it was bad in Baltimore for a bit, right? So do you think maybe we'll see the Washington football team take that direction? I don't know, but I want them to trade Dwayne asking to get my chance.
Jeez, this man poor kid.
Yeah, I know I do.
I don't think they'll take a risk.
I think they'll pick.
I think that those interviews are going become not important for Washington, you know? I mean it.
So you blew your nose too loud.
You don't fit with Washington football team.
Will Adrian Peterson be able to carry the ball 250 times? No.
They're gonna have to find somebody to help him.
Who else do they have on that roster? Let me see.
So Oh, Antonio Gibson.
I guess they just drafted him.
I don't have names in Peterson who kind of carry the ball, maybe give the ball to Peyton Barber a little bit.
Just JD McKissick from Seattle.
Just to take some pressure off of BP.
Yeah, because right now it does look like Adrian Peterson in 2020.
Let me remind you, is slated to be a starting running back.
So Yikes, that is a big X, you know? Well, I mean, yeah, him and him and Frank Gore still in it, running it kind of trying to tack on their Hall of Fame numbers So it is.
But Frank Gore is there to relieve Lavy Arm Bell piano.
The number one It's It's Not you Fire Air A.
Last year, AP held down the fort with guys being hurt.
You know he did.
But it's He's another year older now.
Yeah, you know, it's we talked about this every year.
If things start to hurt just a little bit more, right, it's up.
I'm actually looking at his numbers here.
He almost had 900 yards last year.
Well, you know, yard of your property ran well, you you gotta go.
How many times to carry the ball? 211 which is a 4.
3 yards per attempt.
So, you know, pretty solid.
He's what, 35 now, right? Is a year older than me.
So it's it's Oh, man.
I could barely hit 200 golf balls.
Little here, the ball 200 times.
I mean, maybe Antonio Gibson will, you know, eventually take over that starting role, because I mean, and I think he can start.
They just need to give him some relief.
You what? I mean, I think carrying the ball 200 times is a good number for Adrian Peterson.
And then, if they can give the other 75 or whatever you know to to another running back, that will be the key to it.
Yeah, you know what absolutely amazes me how running backs have short careers anymore.
And yet the two guys that's been in the league, the longest, both have had complete me reconstructive surgeries during the early parts of their career and then made big comebacks out of it like they got robo legs.
Yeah, I think that's completely amazing.
Yeah, that's it's interesting how that happens, right? I think from a lot of a lot of players now, though, those two guys, they're going to hurt the rest of their life yet.
I mean, they're not gonna live comfortably and and they seem like old men, but they're 35 there my age, you know what I mean? It's and they're not going to be comfortable the rest of their life.
They're gonna be, and it's only gonna get worse.
The older they age and the way everything comes in, I think a lot of guys that you know he's not a running back.
But a guy like Megatron was like turned 30 and was like, the hell with it. I feel good.
And I want you know, Andrew, luck is like, you know what? If I get out now, I may not hurt when boarding you.
What? I mean, like, I'm a heel up.
It would be okay, But if I keep doing this to the body, I'm gonna be miserable and uncomfortable The rest my life.
And I think a lot of you know, they talk about, like, how guys used to grind.
But guys also used to make 250 bucks a game.
You mean this wasn't a retirement for them? They had the work. This was their job.
It was this or go work at the factory.
You what? I mean, so it's I'd rather play football.
Now you play two or three good solid years as a quarterback.
Make $5678 million get a couple society, boasts and voters is a couple endor*****t deals.
You put 10 mil in the bank.
If you're good with a Gronk, hasn't spent a dime of his salary.
You and I mean he's lived off endor*****ts alone because he? You know, he doesn't spend a lot of money.
It seems like he does, but he doesn't.
You know, he doesn't spend a lot of money.
And if guys are smart with with their cash, um, you know, you could play five years, walk away the few 1,000,000 live comfortably the rest of your life and not be in pain.
I think in 40 years we're going to see him walking with cancer and 40 years.
So I am five years.
We're going to see him walking with a cane or something.
Does this needs air.
Just gonna be shot, you know? Yeah, it could happen.
It could definitely happen.
All right, well, um, it's variety, boys.
Yeah, we're going about 47 minutes.
I think, uh, I'm happy with that.
