three hours later we feeling better? Better never.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm good.
Uh, watched a little bit.
Caught the end of that heat Raptors game, and that was really enjoyable.
The Raptors are so good and I just feel like they their defense is so good that they just need one guy to get hot every single game, and that's it.
And thats they're just gonna continue to win games that, um And then watch the end of that that well, I watched actually much the entirety of the O.
C Nugget in, which was a slow, tedious who would heavily, roughly heavily refereed game.
I, uh I thought I was gonna enjoy that a little bit more than I did.
The Michael Porter Jr aspect was fun.
I love watching SG a Chris Paul's of course light, and then a little splash a major and therefore you Yeah, yeah, Nader's it.
It was just like that.
Those teams, you think they would play differently than they do, especially the Nuggets.
The Nuggets are such a slow team. That's very weird.
But, you know, they go out of their star.
Yeah, Listen, he's not gonna get down the floor any faster than he's getting there. So no point.
Don't get down there before him.
You mentioned, though, actually tell, even say, I don't know which game it was that I watched the Raptors and they just showed this sequence and you probably find it doesn't need every single game.
But they show this sequence of the Raptors where they were just passing the ball into the lane, out of the lane and around the perimeter.
And it was It was so Chris and so fluid that I was just like, man, you know what? Like it was a shock was like, Well, and that's why they're still good.
But they're so well coached and so disciplined and very connected because there are so many affiliate players there that says something.
Taking away from this bubble is just like I'm tuning into away more gains than I have before now, because it feels like I need to and want to be watching them.
I was I was blown away by the sequences that I was watching from that I don't know what I don't know why I was blown away.
All the names that I was calling out was like, All right, Totally.
These are all incredibly high level talents.
But it was really good to watch them.
Yeah, they just have, like, high I Q guys like from top to bottom.
And it just is, like, so enjoyable to watch, like, just their retreat like they really are.
I I like I'm having like, everybody kind of looking at them like my goodness, this team could impact a back like I don't I think they go against every single model of like what we think like the marquee star and all that stuff.
But it's like, you know what? Like none of these top teams air perfect like certain teams.
I mean, LeBron in.
The Lakers have great against the Clippers, but then different nights.
They don't look great against the Raptors, who are just double teaming them.
And it's like, Oh, actually, if you make Danny Green and Casey PV, too, you're probably gonna win those games.
I mean, it's just LeBron is greatest.
He's a little bit of a different stage of his career.
I mean, that's you know, and I think we're gonna talk about a guy who's pretty shortly who is kind of gonna have Teoh, you know, sort of do what LeBron has done with his game.
But he you know, every team has its flaws.
The Clippers with, I think chemistry the bucks with I mean gosh, like I the more I watch this Raptors team, the more I'm like, man, I don't know if I those bucks want to see them at all experience, right? And this continuity with one another liquid.
You don't like the Lakers where you go, Great, man.
We all know your top heavy.
And we talked about this.
It's what was keeping fears.
And I talk a lot where is, like, great your top.
Have you got to the best players? Awesome.
But where's the depth behind that? And it just seems like for a low height they put on him.
This is what is dangerously close thing to experiencing the exact same thing experience.
Last year you were like, Okay, so maybe walk is just not quite ready yet to claim the Eastern Conference and really be a strength.
Yeah, we're a little bit, but they did some.
I'll do this my last little.
But they didn't like the They kind of figured out against Boston where they ran? Um, you know, like some to man stuff between the honest and Middleton where you have Yana screening for Middleton.
I'm like, OK, well, that's that's tough to stop because, like, Oh, my God, Do you really want a garden on us on a pick and roll? Absolutely not.
And then conversely, Middleton can like if you give him a screen and even gets an inch like he's gonna sink three, so I still would probably pick them is the favorite for the next two seasons.
Sorry to the Wizard, So I know we're gonna talk, but yes, it's fun, man.
We are gonna talk about the Windsor, then we're gonna We're gonna link it through this, though.
You see C three p three playing there for the thunder.
I did just have the thought, though of all the assumption has been that obviously he's gonna be somewhere else next year because he wants to win.
And I'm not saying that the thunder or rate there or something.
But there is some element to me that thought well, maybe the thunder should be thinking maybe they want to be sure, do anything to keep him right.
Maybe they should be looking out there and saying, Who might we be able to attract? Because we still have CP three and we have Gilchrist Alexander ready, ready to continue to elevate his game? Like I just wondered about that and we're gonna follow him over to a guy who's We've been long waiting for his return in John Wall of the Washington Wizards.
But quickly on on CP three.
Do you think there's any chance that the Thunder could convince him to stick around and media track some of the I think it all depends like what they do with gallanar is a free agent this summer, and I think like they bring him back, that's pretty indicative of like what they're trying to do.
And then, if not, it's like, OK, they're probably gonna flip CV three.
I think they'd still probably leaned toward it like this is a great year and everything, and it's exciting, the kind of alerts what the Raptors air doing where you know, they retained everybody.
They didn't flip everybody and they're going for it again.
They have a bunch of free agents coming up the books too.
So I think you probably want to think long term If if you're OK, See now trying to find the perfect home for works.
Chris Paul is just fascinating to me.
There's so many great places for him.
A lot of teams have $40 million lying around.
Yeah, yeah, I know it That that parts funny, but like that seem they're playing today.
I mean, look like I don't know how you'd make that work with God if you add him in that guard rotation.
And, like, I mean, I don't know if you play him Neck X two next to Jamal Murray or what boy like that seems interesting.
If you had CP three, I just think there's some team that's like gonna need toe like, hit another level.
And it's gonna be one of those teams that I mentioned Phoenix and on episode, a couple back up.
It's still like that and you have cooled off on it.
I think he's gonna be that like, Okay, we came.
It's gonna be one of these teams that's gonna fall short me like a what do we need to add to go to that next level.
And maybe that's maybe that's gonna be a CP three.
So I guess we'll see in the East.
I don't really see it unless unless the bucks would go for him and I God, I look Well, it's so funny because we'll get off it.
But like that is like, next thing, of course, the next year float around for everybody.
But it's like you think CP three Really? I know.
I know that you have Tibbs or weapon that I could even be to turn in some ways, but a bit of a risk.
Real risk there for if your CPC, they're saying like, I'm gonna go to the place where I haven't seen any necessarily stability or or prospects.
And in the east where you go, I'm gonna go there.
I'm gonna get through the next.
So there are there even the Raptors or even or even the ah, the Bucks or even the Celtics like it just you want.
You want to kind of pick your spot.
If you're If you're CP three, you're still at the stage now 30 minutes for right.
Also, I don't think he's gonna love that process of being like Come on, buddy. Let's go.
So try to keep the tread on the tires on on the wizard side of things really get there eventually.
All this is a team that obviously John Wall feels like We haven't seen him in half a decade, but he will be coming back at some point here.
Um, they shouldn't come as a surprise that that that deal who has said he wants to be in Washington? He's excited for the return off of John Wall in to play with him again.
Let's just start with on the very basic premise.
Assuming, assuming he's healthy, where is John like, Where is John Wall? In the hierarchy of point guards around the league of this? At this point, I don't know, because, like John Wall, I'm trying to think of when we last saw him.
There must have been two years ago.
Um, it was that weird year where they're like they had the everybody eats.
Remember that two million years, right? He feels that tweeted that, or put that on its on.
It was like this weird between them.
I guess they really like strengthened that bond, and I think that's a big reason why bills consistently see there because I think him and John Wall are really close.
Yeah, I mean, like, it's even worth talking about just him speaking out and saying all these things like that, just like it's all the PR from the wizard side of things.
Like one of the first things to come out of any team period about, you know, scrimmaging and plane was Fred Cats in the athletic.
He put together this call I'm talking about, and it had little clips of John Will scrimmaging.
So all this stuff is saying, Hey, John Wallace healthy like he's gonna be the old John Wall where that fits in the hierarchy.
I mean, I don't know.
I like, I don't know.
Is he like a top? Like, What's that gonna like? Is Malcolm robbed in? He will be better than Malcolm brought.
I'm like trying to, like, count backwards because I know the first couple.
But I'm trying to be realistic so well because in some ways, too, it's like not obviously ah, good.
I don't know, maybe borderline great player when he was healthy, but at the same time, you're looking around lead and you're thinking about.
There's over two years, right? There's a handful of young Point you want to say Donovan Mitchell.
And, you know, yeah, like you want trailing.
We started throwing out some younger names.
It's like that, That classic thing of going, who would you take? You know, And then you started listening to go Well, John Wall is going to start to tumble.
There's gonna be the elite of the elite veteran players that you know about.
And then there's gonna be the younger talent that you'd rather take a look at so that that's the interesting thing.
I and I guess I know the premises health.
But I also don't I don't know if this is a guy that's ever going to be fully healthy.
Maybe that different player, post injury.
And what does his game look like, right.
I'm trying to do this on the fly.
What? It looks like what he could be.
So I'll try to be safe with this.
We're gonna put Kyle Lowry Kemba Walker.
I'm so happy that Ben Simmons is a power forward now because they think they're, um we have Kyrie.
So that's three guys.
I think Trey Young.
I don't know that.
It depends like what John Wall looks like defensively.
I think that's a huge thing for them.
Then go to the other conference.
Uh, Westbrook, I think has to be ahead.
CP three has to be ahead.
I'm not gonna do Luke as a point guard and say he's a LeBron wing type of guy game.
So what are we up to, like, 66 Ready? So you and then you want throw you through Mitchell into that mix, too? Yeah, I would consider him a shooting guard, right For the next.
Like just to make this, I'm trying to, like, make this is favorable and then step.
So you have seven point guards right now? So is he ate on, and then it gets like, he's probably in that same classes like deer and Fox and all these other guys.
So point being like, I think he's probably top 10 in in terms of his position.
That's a good thing on.
I don't think he's gonna be, you know, like this.
Like all star level, great guard, like I mean, it's just even in his conferences competitive.
So Oh, here's a good one.
I mean, the tropics, all of this stuff like Derrick Rose feels like a great comp because that, you know, same same kind of age came up together injury issues as well, like.
And how and I The only problem with that compares it is I never know how I feel about their grows because it is hard to know what he is on a season to season basis.
And that's what makes it so tricky because he come.
And by the way we talked about before where I've been so happy to see that Derrick Rose has kind of stabilized and that, unfortunately, it also may be wasting most in a way that the stable years of the back end his career with the Pistons.
But you know the level beyond this, too.
So when we think about okay, he comes back, he is healthy.
And then you have feel How good can this Team B in the Eastern Conference? The problem that you run into is, and I pulled it up going by, and this is really just exercise of.
It's always have a rafter rating, but they lack.
And in a bad season, it's hard to put a lot of weight on this, but they only had one player who was positive in the Rapture rating on the defensive end.
And that was Banga now like and it's hard to get these numbers, you know, good in a bad year.
But then I went down and I think ended up coming across either finding the sons and the sons.
Are you a young team? Obviously, they're not terribly competitive there in the mix in the bubble, but that doesn't look too effective.
And they end up having almost the entirety.
You know, you had 78 guys there that are all right at maybe slightly below, you know, net neutral in terms of defensive rating, and that's where I end up.
Looking at this John Wall is not is not, ah, high end defensive talent, so adding arguably another offensive weapon to a purely offensive team.
I don't know how much that moves the needle for for this roster.
I mean, he's gotta be like he used to be.
That used to be like such a great defender, and that feels like a 1,000,000 years ago at this point.
But that's the thing is like he's got a kind of like So what happened with John Wall or Derrick Rose? You know, after the injuries, he loses his speed.
He's just so he has toe like dialling and the things that he was good at.
It didn't necessarily, you know, come from his athleticism.
You said to get 10 times better at those like it's finishing around the rim and to get better and all this stuff, and he's able to do it.
So John Wall, you think of his passing, I think needs to be there at room.
Finishing is, is gonna be a big thing like and then the defense to I think that he's got to figure out a way to do that.
I mean, you saw it yesterday.
I'm watching it tonight.
I missed that, um, Wizards game, but yeah, I mean, outside of Burton.
So I think they actually almost need to bring back its very essential for them to do that in order to try to make this work, just to give them a little bit of spacing.
Um, I don't know what you're looking at.
Like Thomas Bryant.
He's an interesting, probably backup center.
Um, he's awful just awful rim protector and not a great rebounder.
And and then, And that kind of puts you in such a bad question.
Classic traits you want for your for your center.
Terrible rim protector like about This is nothing.
Nothing about him is like a motor, like a modern day center.
He's interesting off the bench, but like he's a good story and he's a good player.
But I just don't like Dude, you need something because there's not that many good defensive players on this roster And honestly, like you look at all these rapture ratings and all that stuff or whatever.
You know, gizmo you want to use, um, a lot of this comes from how bad he is.
It protecting the rim, and it doesn't do them any favors.
I I think they need to update, you know, operate their center position almost immediately this summer.
That's their big thing.
Well, that it was funny because you do say, I think I I like to look at those the rapture ratings or pro football focus when you're the NFL just to get yourself out of a baseline, and then it just like there's a very basic.
I test, and it's not just about players individually, but collectively.
When you watch a game and you go, Oh, I mean like being Nets guys, we know it where you go, Lambert Tiny.
But we sure could use some size of length where everywhere, every anyone you want to put him anywhere you wanna put length.
And when you see that with the Wizards, I feel like it's that that's the very easy box to check of going like right.
But whose anchoring your defense? Hoose, who's stopping the lane from just being a leaky sit for them all? I don't think there's really too much to mine here in terms of Cross.
And I said before we started about I like Hachi Bora, but I like him in terms of maybe, maybe, maybe he's a quality player that continue to grow, and he's young, but that's a question mark, not a guarantee.
Before we talk about where they kind of stand in the East, something else that popped in my head.
We're talking about thes thes tandems in the backcourt and and deal on wall, maybe bridging that that distance between them.
Maybe think about the Portland Trail Blazers and a McCollum Dame combo.
Does this in terms off? Two guys that get along want to play together and I'll I will say they've been way more impressive in this restart than I anticipated.
And maybe their prospects, probably no higher over the next couple of seasons, and they've ever been in any point.
But deal on wall seem like they could fall into the same category of Yeah, we love playing with each other.
We want to see this thing through.
We want to stay here in Washington together and you go great.
It's not gonna add up to much, but that's fantastic that you guys want to do this thing together.
Well, the thing about them is like you're seeing it, you know, in person.
You're seeing this every single night now is they bring Nurkic back.
Who is this really important part of their defense? They play him in that drop average and he just protects the rim.
I just look this up right now in terms of where opponents air shooting, the Wizards are third in the entire league in terms of restricted area shooting percentage there, allowing the third most, I should say 66.
5% shooting in the right around the basket.
That's obviously pretty problematic.
And, um, you know, I think that for them, that's again.
And it kind of, sadly, all comes down to this.
I hate to like, you know, just back Thomas Bryant, but I mean, that's kind of the difference between those two teams is obviously, I think one you're gonna need John Wall to be.
At least let's say, like Brad Beal is the team Lillard.
In this situation, you're gonna need John Wall to be the CJ McColl in order for any of this toe work course, the East is a little easier, but they got to figure out some of this positional stuff because right now it's like it's just a bunch of, you know, like a rock on a team Next year.
I like Roy Hodgson Murrah.
He's probably a little bit closer to like, um, Markieff Morris or something like that.
Then, ah, then an actual like integral piece on a team and I think, like next year, even just looking at their projected whatever lineup, um, it's I guess you like the fourth option next to Burt on.
That's That's the That's what your major right, That idea that ideal friends and the good part for them is there's a lot of really good centers.
They're available the center this summer, so I think they can do it.
I think there is a way that they can make it happen.
Uh, but they've got to impress Brad, feel like they really need to.
Yeah, and then it comes down to you.
That's where you wish the time.
I was a little bit further along for John Wall, where you're getting more of a taste of him on the court for not just for Beal, but then also for the idea of going on media, tracking one of these centers and saying, No, look, Walls back And he is this for us.
Then we have feel now we and batons.
Now he had you and look, we could have in Washington cause again not a small market team, but not one of the major players.
When you think about attracting, some of the biggest free agents will get out the door on this in terms of their prospects.
When you look around the standings in the in the East.
How all things considered, he's healthy next year.
Let's say they don't make a big move for a saner Where do they listen? There, There, there, you know, the borderline could have had a playing opportunity.
I think if it had deal, that could have been a little bit more exciting to watch, obviously.
But where does this team really really fall next year? I mean, even with a really, even with a fully healthy John Wall, I don't is a Milwaukee Toronto Brooklyn karate gyms being That's the one team I could see.
But even then they have Pascal Terrence Davis.
Um but they have a bunch of guys that I think they can throw together.
So, you know, sorry to cut you off.
So, you know, keep them in there.
I'll let you run this Also.
Who did I say? No.
No, But you think about Milwaukee, Toronto, Boston.
You're gonna throw Miami right there in with them.
And as dysfunctional is Philly, Maybe for better or worse, that's their roster.
That 60 and then Brooklyn.
That was five, I think.
So now you're talking about sits.
So that's seven.
Tell me that there.
And let's just saying we know this year that Orlando is in and around the A C and they're basically gonna be that team.
I don't find them to be, you know, overly exciting, but the same time.
So you know, 77 you know, depending on if you got a piece, maybe then you get into the middle of the pack there.
But that's the weird thing about it.
It's like for all of this conversation, about if you can have John welcome back and if he can be healthy, I still don't know if it changes anything.
If you don't address that, very and by the way we said Portland, that's how much you can change perception of your team.
Nurkic comes back and you go, Oh, OK, now Mukula mundane.
Doing their thing with this in behind them and healthy makes all the sense in the world, and I can look at them differently if you don't add a piece like that's a Washington again.
Another offensive weapon, another quality point guard.
And even if it's for this video, even if deal waas sorry, even if John Wall was playing high level defense.
That's not where it's going to impact their roster from a wins and loss standpoint as much as the center in the paint area.
Um, yeah, I like them at the seven.
I'm thinking kind out loud a little bit.
There is a world in which, after all, the stuff we heard of the last couple of months, that they could play the two seeded Brooklyn Nets the first round of the playoffs next year as they're all the conjecture, because I think I would take Milwaukee just to win a couple more games in the regular season.
But that isn't that Brooklyn team's gonna be competitive.
So wouldn't that be funny if they if all that happened, I don't know, they've got a lot.
They've got a long way to go.
A couple of guys I would keep, but I always worry about seems like this where, especially with this year's free agent classic, they just have so many upgrades that they need to make.
And I'm kind of like I'm not sure what it looks like.
And boy, you're really banking on John Wall looking the same and you know I don't know in the big yellow, and then we'll get out of this man.
The biggest problem is that let's say you don't have all the confidence in world in John Wall.
He still has a hefty price tag attached to him like this isn't it, is the body that gets moved.
And that's maybe why you, at times I thought You keep hearing about Beal getting moves because I can't shift one contract.
But I can move something that still has value.
And and then the break back in the same murky area of Well, now you pairing with John Wall is unfortunate for the Wizards.
I'd like to see John welcome back healthy just because I like.
I hate seeing injuries and I love seeing players come back and be able to get back on the court.
Just do what they love, so we'll keep an eye on it.
But it apparently heard it here.
First man, they're not making the playoffs next year, Uh, not feel bad, but no losing form.
But they might like, listen, as Brooklyn, that's fans we've been.
We've been there for that ride.
Ride that thing straight to sweep in the first round.
We didn't know how far we're gonna let this thing run, but it turns out you can mind.
You can mind the Washington Wizards for days.
Well, let that Brooks get over and watched that Brooklyn that's Washington Wizards game and just bathe in the success that is the Brooklyn Nets staff in the bubble.
And they're still other games on tonight that I listen.
Ah, is it? Don't know if it's right or wrong. Toe watch.
12 hours of basketball on day.
That's where I'm at.
Where I'm doing it, man.
I'm like, I don't know the last time I've watched this much basketball and in years like I really I really couldn't tell you.
And I want the playoffs pretty diligently every year.
But it's just like her. It's ridiculous.
I'm good with it.
I'm like, I'm not getting out at all like I'm loving this and I'll go and start that day tomorrow at 1 30 with the Brooklyn Nets playing to the Civil Walking bucks and your sentiment.
No Caris Levert.
It's going to be an absolute stinker.
Yonas better watch his back.
Miss a Lance Thomas is gunning for you.
Follow Matt Brooks all over the place.
Follow myself out of our very key thing here.
Is that Simeone? Russell? We're all doing our thing here on sports.
