00:00:07
all right are really That's all right, you guys, What's going on? Inter boy Brad.
00:00:12
Back at it again with another broadcast now.
00:00:17
No N b A news Today I will be coming out with some nb a news.
00:00:22
Tomorrow we'll be live streaming the Miami game where they will face off on one oclock tomorrow, he versus the Rackers.
00:00:35
That's gonna be a good matchup, but as of right now, it's too late for me to live.
00:00:39
Stream the Rockets versus bucks so we'll do the next best thing where believe it.
00:00:46
And I had these notes for four months now, and I'm finally doing the broadcast.
00:00:50
But when you think of NFL MVP's, what do you think of For some of the younger kids, you probably think of pasture moms is great.
00:01:00
Electrifying season.
00:01:02
Think of Tom Brady's 2018 EVP season.
00:01:05
Or maybe that was 2017.
00:01:07
Marge axes in the P season.
00:01:10
Adrian Peterson's 2000 rushing your season.
00:01:14
Lawrence Taylor's be amazing season.
00:01:17
The list goes on and on, and those were just a few of the more recent Crazy and VP seasons.
00:01:23
But today we will be talking about one that is not while we discussed anymore for whatever reason and one that is just absolutely absurd to think about.
00:01:34
The fact is the only EVP that has ever been given to for a special teams player and you know it was pretty crazy, too.
00:01:44
Wasn't like he was back in the 19 thirties.
00:01:46
One there was nobody really good.
00:01:48
I mean, this was in that This was in 1982 where there were some really, really solid players in the NFL.
00:01:55
Uh, you know, for example, Marcus Allen, Everson, Walls, Dan fouls and Wes Chandler all put up crazy sats.
00:02:04
And yet this Washington Redskins kicker I know I sent Redskins, but at the time called the Redskins.
00:02:12
Uh, you know, it was just crazy to really think about it on.
00:02:17
And as you can see in this chat, Sam Federman is right.
00:02:20
It is Mark Moseley.
00:02:22
Um, many of you have never even heard of Mark mostly in your life, and today I will be informing you on who this guy was.
00:02:31
But first, let's get some back story on 1982 because 1982 was not irregular NFL season.
00:02:39
So in 1982 the NFL assaults first in season player strike.
00:02:44
This is where players held out from their teams due to money and fighting in wars as the time there were some.
00:02:51
Look, there were not local wars, but their rewards that some of these football players were in the Army as well.
00:02:58
And obviously serving your country is more important than playing football.
00:03:03
I have to say, at least that's just my opinion.
00:03:06
So players would kind of oft out kind of similar to how people have been with Kobe 19.
00:03:13
But this was permanent, like they couldn't come back from a date 10 day quarantine and then get back to playing sports.
00:03:19
It was Either you stay and you play in the NFL or you go full time fighting and wars and you just get the season.
00:03:28
So it was a nine game schedule because of this instead of a 16 game regular season, and there was there was a 16 team playoff.
00:03:37
The Redskins have the place four games and ended up winning the Super Bowl that year.
00:03:42
Absolutely incredible, and the M V P didn't go to the Redskins.
00:03:46
Caykur Mark Moseley, now just some back story on Mark Moseley mostly converted just 62% of his field goal attempts in 1979 to 1981.
00:03:58
He was not originally drafted by the Redskins.
00:04:01
In fact, he was attracted by their division rival, Philadelphia Eagle in 1970 spent two years in Houston with the Oilers before winding up in D. C.
00:04:12
And Moseley's 1st 11 seasons mostly made just one probable A converted just 62% of his few local attempts.
00:04:19
So what the heck happened in 1982? Well, to say the least, I don't know.
00:04:26
And you know, to be frank about it, I don't think anybody knows.
00:04:29
Uh, maybe not even Mark Moseley.
00:04:32
This guy went from being one of most inaccurate kickers to becoming or to having one of the most accurate taking seasons in NFL history.
00:04:42
You know, his season was more accurate than more Anderson's pretty happier season or Adam vegetarian or Mike Dandridge.
00:04:49
Yet eso you know, this guy was a real deal in 1982 and I really don't know what happened.
00:04:58
It's not recorded what he did that offseason, but something just clicked for Mark Moseley in Week one against the Eagles, his former team you hit the game winner and he went free for free overall and propelled D.
00:05:12
C each with 37 34.
00:05:14
Nail biting victory.
00:05:16
Now, Mark Moseley and many takers back then kicked the ball with their toe.
00:05:21
As we know now you keep the mall, you kick a soccer ball with the inside of your foot just more comfortable, you will limit the amount of injuries on your foot.
00:05:31
Uh, but back then, a lot of NFL kickers were actually former soccer players and, you know, for some weird reason, I guess he just kept the ball there toe to give more power.
00:05:45
And for Mark Moseley, that meant he'd get more power owners on his kicks.
00:05:50
But that also meant he'd have less accuracy force case as well, which could easily, you know, make him shanking cake by accident.
00:05:58
So, you know, was it worth the risk from work? Mostly, to be were to be able to kick a long field goal than normal, but maybe more inaccurate than other kickers for Mosley and for the 1982 season, that answer was yes.
00:06:15
So, you know, supposedly had his N v P moment in the season when he hit the game winner from 42 yards out to beat the Giants and seal the Washington Redskins playoff berth for the first time.
00:06:28
And I think it was five or six years is quite a while, You know, They had a pretty big drought back then, I will say, Uh, Mark mostly did set an NFL record with 21 consecutive Google's made in 1982.
00:06:45
This record would be broken by morning, Anderson in 1985.
00:06:49
So Morten Andersen now holds the record for that.
00:06:53
And in that game, where Mark Moseley propelled the Redskins to beat the Giants and send them to the playoffs, that was in a game where Josie Iseman has four interceptions and John Reagan's couldn't even muster free yards a carry.
00:07:08
So it was an atrocious offensive day for the Redskins, and Mark Moseley was like, I don't care how he just knocks vehicle after field goal after field goal to not only give the Redskins little win, which back then winds were more important because it was a 19 season instead of a 16 game season that gave mostly more confidence entering the playoffs and it gave the Redskins more confidence.
00:07:36
I mean, if Joe's die Zeman, If the Redskins were the losing, that game to the Giants just dies.
00:07:42
We would have had no confidence entering the playoffs because he just came off of a game where they lost and he had four picks.
00:07:49
Same thing for John Reagan's where he couldn't even average three yards a carry.
00:07:53
And to be honest with you, Joe Thighs, Mint and John Reagan's are both.
00:07:59
They were not Hall of Famers, but they're both Redskin legends and my opinion.
00:08:04
Eso in a game like that when they really, really struggled.
00:08:09
You know, Mark Moses was able to put the team on his back as a place kicker and do what he does best and just three points on the board with relative ease, you know, from here and there, and it ended up being enoughto win the game.
00:08:24
Now, by week 17 or not, we sent in.
00:08:28
But by Week nine, I guess mostly strength reached 23 straight made field goals, dating back to 1981 and in the last game of the season, mostly streak was snapped.
00:08:39
By the years and Cardinals, you finished 20 of 21 in 1982 1 with goals, and he finished five or six on 40 plus year pupils.
00:08:49
So Mark Moseley had, you know, a lot of distance, and part of the reason why he was you could kick 40 are fuels is because of the fact that, hey, he was a soccer player and be capable of his toe.
00:09:04
If you were to keep the ball with the inside of his foot, who knows if we re talking about Mark Moseley right now, especially with the fact that maybe his limit would be 35 yard vehicles, if that makes sense.
00:09:16
So, really, if I'm being honest with you, Mark Moseley, you know, try something new in the sport that really hadn't been done and it paid off for him so so much, uh, the Redskins that year, would you? Eight and one.
00:09:32
As I said, it was a nine game regular season, and main question that I have for you guys is should you really have won M v P? Because he went 20 of 21 on field goals, five of six from 40 plus yards, and that's great, no over a kicker.
00:09:50
But even with those numbers over guys that, like Marcus Allen, who had 14 touchdowns and 1100 screens yards cornerback for the Cowboys.
00:09:59
Everson Walls had seven interceptions, dance valves average 320 passing yards per game, and Wes Chandler averaged 129 yards yards per game.
00:10:12
Like as I'm saying this as a Washington football team fan, should my guy Mark Moseley, who had a great taking season, by all means should he have won an over dominant running back, and Marcus Allen, a quarterback that was throwing over 320 yards per game over a wide receiver who averaged 129 yards per game and over a corner who had seven receptions in nine games? That's the burning question.
00:10:46
But apparently, you know, I guess they gave the award to him because of what he did in the playoffs.
00:10:53
Um, no, I just said that wrong.
00:10:57
Luckily for mostly, though, the M V B is based off of the regular season and not the postseason.
00:11:03
If the award was based off of the post season, mostly would have sure not want.
00:11:07
It mostly went to of six in Washington's 1st 3 playoff games.
00:11:12
Now, despite all this, Washington carried Mosley on their back and made it to Super Bowl. 17.
00:11:20
Were mostly stepped up his game and went perfect in that game as a Redskins won 27 to 17.
00:11:28
I, Morten Andersen.
00:11:29
Not Adam Military.
00:11:30
Not My Vander Jet, who made 37 of 37 fuel attempts in one season.
00:11:37
Not any of them could win.
00:11:38
M V P with some of their greatest taking seasons.
00:11:42
Is my guy, Mark Moseley.
00:11:44
Who did that over.
00:11:46
You know, some great players.
00:11:47
Marcus Allen is still talked today about one of the best Raiders ever play one of the best running backs to play.
00:11:56
Definitely Top 10 Conversation Dance doubts.
00:11:59
Wes Chandler for the Chargers.
00:12:02
I didn't go great in that air raid offense, and then Everson Walls.
00:12:07
Seven receptions in nine games.
00:12:09
I mean that that doesn't speak for itself.
00:12:11
I don't know what will eso really do? I think that he should have one NDP absolutely not, especially with some of the competition that he had, but doing it as a kicker where he put his team on his back night in and night out and just it, everything to his power.
00:12:31
And you have to take in consideration that he was doing something that was never done before kicking the balls his toe.
00:12:39
And before that, nobody have ever nobody had ever done that.
00:12:43
I mean, that's basically, you know, that's basically throwing a baseball sign on before, you know, it was actually called a sidearm.
00:12:53
You know, people would judge you for that.
00:12:55
But at the end of the day, if that's what worked, that's what worked.
00:12:58
And for Mark Moseley, taking the ball with his toe is just what worked.
00:13:03
And it caught the Redskins to the Super Bowl, got them a Super Bowl win one of their free in franchise history and then also got him Lee and VP eso.
00:13:17
You know, I hope that title wasn't to click bait.
00:13:20
I really don't think it was.
00:13:21
I gave you guys the facts and everything.
00:13:23
That being said, if you don't if you think that next year a quarterback is going to win M v P.
00:13:31
Most likely it will.
00:13:32
But you know who knows? Justin talker Stephen Gostkowski.
00:13:37
They can make a rare appearance in the M V P final loading and maybe snagged the truth.
00:13:42
You away from the lights of the march checks and Patrick Mahomes.
00:13:45
But with that being said, they could guess so much for watching.
00:13:49
Have you guys had a great day today? Make sure they keep God number one guys and always piece out.
00:13:56
Can't you guys in the next broadcast, guys?
