Good afternoon, folks.
We're busy this week doing a whole bunch of these.
It's good we're here today, talking a little bit of last night's basketball.
I mean, once again, another really, really great night of hoops.
We've been very fortunate so far.
Ah, the Rockets Mavericks game was just about the craziest thing I've ever seen in my lifetime.
I don't know what was going on.
These teams air scoring in the one fifties.
Um, not an ounce of defense is being played there, shooting threes from all over the **** court.
It was truly like nothing else I've ever seen the game before that felt like a little bit more of a playoff matchup.
And that, of course, was the Bucks Celtics game, a game that was really satisfying to watch, especially for me, who, as I've made very clear in many of these episodes, cover the Brooklyn Nets watched him against the, um, the Orlando Magic.
You can actually find my reaction stream, I guess.
My postgame stream over on my other channel at Matt Brooks N B. A.
I had a lot of thoughts on those nets.
I don't know how, considering they're running a the Long Island Nets Geely team out there essentially.
But, um, let's get into the news item before we do anything.
So this is according to Justin Kubatko.
I think I'm saying that.
Senator Rubio now has 25 career games in which he's recorded at least 30 points, 15 rebounds and five assists, breaking a tie with Larry Bird for the second most such games since the A b a n b A merger.
Charles Barkley is first with 32 years with 32 in total.
Got to keep in mind that Johannes is, of course, 25 as my guy Justin made very clear.
He also added a second tweet, saying Johannes now has five games this season in which he is produced at least up Stevie.
35 points, 15 rebounds and five assists, tying David Robinson back in 1993 and 94 for the most such games in a single season since the A b a N b A merger.
I believe that season was when one of those years when Hakeem one so you know a great period of when centers ran the game? Ah which is funny because it really felt like that was the case yesterday against these Boston Celtics, a team that really doesn't have much to throw at.
You honest, I would say their biggest counter for Yannis and in Grupo right now is probably semi usually, and that shirt certainly showed up.
They did what they could.
They tried to throw Jaylen Brown and the Post Gordon Hayward on him a little bit.
They just tried to mix up and throw his many guys.
That could at him really didn't matter.
They've got no one to stop this guy.
I think it's a really problematic matchup for them, um, and I'll get into some of the matchups on the other side of the floor.
But they could have really used a backup center in that in that Ah, in the trade deadline.
Or just, you know, I guess it would have to be a trade because nobody really came available outside of outside of Noah who went to the Clippers.
So, yeah, they're in a tricky situation that Al Horford spot as much as he kind of got outplayed by honest down the stretch of that.
That playoff series last year.
Even just having him in there would be a huge difference.
I love the annual ties.
Daniel Type does not have the verticality to stay with somebody like Johannes, and that showed up.
Otherwise, just a real defensive clinic by the Bucks.
I think one of the biggest things for me and this is not a hot take or anything like that.
I believe Jayson Tatum was two for 17.
Um, he's now shooting, and I looked this up.
Um, in three games, he's shooting 33.
3% from the three Ah, he's getting to the line just two times a game, which is way lower than he normally does on having just 15.
7 points per game, not able to get into his shots months just by throwing a combination of guys.
He really can't get to the basket whatsoever.
So when they're running those high picks for Tatum to try to get downhill, you're not gonna get shots against Brook Lopez, who was Ah all defensive player this year.
In my opinion, somebody that you just he's locking down the paint like he's never done before, really? I mean, just an incredible season by Brook Lopez continued that yesterday, I believe, blocked the honest at least once a big highlight block against him that I remember going around.
You know, all these these accounts ESPN nb a central hoops central on Twitter.
It was going all over the place.
So, um so for them, I think that's something they need to figure out is what they could do with Jayson Tatum.
I mean, if they're gonna go anywhere, the biggest weakness, I think with this self for this Bucks defense is three point shooting in terms of they let ah lot of three point shots happen against them.
So what that means is that and again, these aren't your catch and shoot type of three is they're going to force you into a lot of pull up shots.
That's where the Celtics typically excel.
One of those guys is going to be Ah Kemba Kemba Walker, who I think has the opportunity to really, really do big things.
Assuming that, you know, I don't know what it's gonna look like when they're when the bucks, you're gonna get Eric Bledsoe back.
But, um, you know Kemba is going to play well.
And then, of course, Tatum is is really got to find his own shot.
If they're taking away part of his offensive game, then he's really just a guy that's going to be needing to make those mid range shots and those, ah, pull up three pointer.
So that's them to keep in mind.
I will say I thought the Celtics did a really nice job on Chris Middleton.
I think if there's anything to be concerned about from the Bucks, it's that Chris Middleton, as greatest, he was at generating his own shots.
Um, it's a little different when you have playoff defense on you.
And I thought we saw that quite a bit yesterday.
They just, you know, as greatest, he's been off, you know, taking these deep shots in transition and getting into the post and doing this thing they just made life hell for.
I'm just it really tough to even take a couple of dribbles.
A lot of respect goes out to a Marcus Smart, but Jaylen Brown did a nice job against him as well.
So, um, I think that those two guys are gonna be the keys to this matchup.
Johannes is going to continue to put up numbers like this.
But otherwise I mean, it's gonna come down to those two guys, really two guys that I think you're in the top 20 in terms of best players in the league and Tatum and Middleton other way.
Yeah, yeah, I mean, otherwise this was nice to watch.
I really enjoyed the defense of Showcase that we got here just to see these two teams play that much into each other's jerseys.
Um, you know, Dante De Vincenzo was an absolute treat yesterday.
I believe he was four for eight with 10 points.
Don't necessarily always think about the offense from him.
So to see him put together, that type of production was great.
Ah, but went pretty deep into his rotation.
I'm assuming there's certain guys hirsen, ilyasova Uh uh who? I don't think we'll be seeing as we go deeper, deeper in the playoffs, and I mean, overall, I hope we see this again.
I don't know about a full Siri's because I think I'd rather see the Raptors against the Bucks in terms of ah, in terms of entertaining matchups, Um, again, just think about when Marvin Williams starts getting out there.
I think he's gonna suck up some of those ilyasova minutes.
This Bucks team can just place so big, and I worry about that a little bit for the Celtics.
But it's fun to watch it in a you know, single single night matchup.
And maybe you never know.
As Tatum finds himself a little bit more, maybe he is going to get a little more freedom to take the shots that he wants.
But right now, yeah, I'll say it, Um, I don't love this matchup for the Celtics.
I just don't lock and change.
But you know, the Bucks, they present just such a tough defense.
I mean, this is a historically great team defensively, they're there.
If you look at their point differential, they're just killing teams this year.
And and as much as we want to think about well, it comes from Johannes and surrounding him by three point shooters.
Realistically, this Bucks team, they're actually closer to average in terms of three point shooting.
Be honest, is great, but it's their defense that makes them so special.
So, yeah, I mean, closing this out, let me just say I think the bucks are my favorite to come out of the East.
Nothing has told me otherwise that that's not gonna happen.
I'm really curious to see what the Raptors look like tonight against a good test in the Lakers.
Um, the Celtics are probably my second favorite team out east.
Although I I caught bits and pieces of it today.
It looked like Miami looked excellent.
Course, you're playing against a weird Denver team that doesn't have their guards playing.
But I thought they looked.
They looked really top notch today.
Ah, but I I'm gonna stick with these two teams, actually that that played each other yesterday.
I like this Bucks team.
I like the Celtics team just because of all the scoring that they've got.
They just have a couple extra wrinkles that I think that, you know, Miami definitely doesn't have.
And I would even say depending upon what the Raptors look like.
The Raptors air just really solid one through 15 it feels like, But, you know, I think that there's in a Siri's between those two teams.
I could see Jason Tatum being the best player on the floor, or maybe even a Kemble or them having the two best players in a series against the Raptors.
So with all that said, go follow my other channel at Matt Brooks N b A.
I'm focusing a little bit more on net stuff.
