and welcome back once again to SportsCastr news.
Where is always on Adam are wrecked talking all things N b A and officially.
Now look two days in, right.
Okay, we got to see on Thursday night, the Lakers and the Clippers got going down to the wire.
LeBron James and Thailand are both being out there for the final faith.
Is that game the pelicans mythic? Arguably the misstep and not not playing.
A little bit more minutes there, especially the end of the game.
So they get off on the wrong foot there with loss against the Jazz.
If you're familiar with me knowing that were broken, Nets fan, they obviously not get off to a start that they were looking for either.
But bottom line is, basketball is backing among some big performances that we did.
Jane Carden drops a months there, 49 point performance right out of the gate.
And, of course, it is gonna bring up some of those conversations just about where he stacks up and into the MBA from even from a pure shooter perspective.
And Carlisle, as one would expect heaped on the praise around James Harden and his performance, and Emily, though, where he stands in his career.
Overall, he's, you know, the emphasis on three Point Bowl, and obviously the the beyond the artwork and how far back the getting taken from feels like very much included 50 of Steph Curry.
In terms of bringing back to the forefront of the FBI, the James Harden is, with his little side step back Shot moved.
That he likes to you utilize arguably as pure from beyond the arc is anyone else in the n B.
A day and maybe arguably beyond the interesting that Carlisle talked about, though in the postgame comments with the idea of comparing really hard in terms of sure shooter to the likes of any of the greats, historically, including Michael Jordan.
The hard thing with any of these conversation isn't even.
Carlisle mentions this.
The difference between the era of the Michael Jordan played in and what it looked like for him to execute on the offensive end reparative to James Harden today, even though, as t mentioned and a lot of people look at you say you want to plug in Jordan today's game, he would start to put that bigger emphasis on three point shot.
His game would look different than it did back in his time, friend.
But I don't know.
You always say that stopped, right? What would James Harden look like and put him in different areas of basketball for his quality of his a pure shooter? He may be the difference between between Day, a high end, high quality shooter, pure shooter versus being an overall talent is obviously a little bit different, and I don't know if you had dropped around now.
But what would that mean? Having the thought about a James Harden over about a Steph Curry any day traits right? Depending if you move some players around in the air is, uh, Reggie Miller comes to run with his perimeter shooting and what that would look like in today's game.
He was doing pure spot up corner threes or above.
The break style of basketball has changed in both in that direction, so it's always hard time to draw these these parallels between players.
I know that when I will say, is the same way that tow watch Steph Curry take those looks from beyond the Arc.
Watch name Lillard at those looks from just inside of court blocks, James Harden Goto work from From Above, the bird on the offensive end.
Those are beautiful, that watching those performances are a thing of beauty, and that, in that way, is similar toe watching.
So those great performances by whether it is Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan or Magic Johnson Larry Bird, right? Any of these players, regardless of whether they're shooting three more prevalent Lee whether they're going back in the legs, whether it is, as some MBIA Curis would say, that made me change touch and being able to utilize that area of your game.
Whatever avenue you want to go down, You could always kind of see those performances and understand that you're watching someone do it at the highest level.
The interesting thing that I would look at the to do when you talk about your shooter.
You can say activity, though, when you pull up numbers, we looking at the James Harden and Michael Jordan number limit, but it really sample size will call it with.
Jordan stepped away for a couple of years, has a relatively short career, even though you can throw in the work that he did in Washington when he came out of retirement for the second time.
But even just on the number, you think about the total points Jordan put up nearly 30 32 3 basically 32 to 9 to hard rain acid in there.
Just under 21,000 points for his career.
Obviously has a long way to go yet, but it's something t realize about.
Even Harden is much more focused in that area of executing.
He still has a long way to go to stack up relative to the numbers the Jordan was putting up.
You know, the average points per game you're talking 25 for Harden versus 34 Jordan and one of those.
Do you think about two? It's just sustained success, right? Being able to do it at a high level, insistently hardened early in his career in Okay.
See you have Kevin Durant theory of Westbrook there.
Pardon that we know in Houston with rockets, so there is also a developmental part of that as well.
Jordan pretty quickly as you about the MBA.
If you watch the last dance, you know the ground running and start to take things over again in a different way.
But there wasn't really this off a couple of seasons to fully come into fruition.
And also the raw steer playing on Kevin Durant.
We know who he is, so there's gonna be bold dominance there.
Ah, Westbrook, also a ball dominant player in a different respect, so hardens opportunities to showcase what he was to expanding.
Grow with His shooting.
Obviously didn't wasn't able to occur until he had his own team out.
Um, and then the other thing is, when you talk about pure computers and if you want to isolate it just in terms of saying this guy, that's not all when he does great.
Ah, but the perfect tweeting saying Steph Curry and Jack is that instead of Curry se, it also won championships Sometimes if we talked about this with Matt Brooks on here with Keith McPherson.
When you think about the idea of the weight players develop early in their career, and what the side or the drawback to that development is when speaking on Donovan Metropole in about coming in, you thought this is a guy that has I defensive upside and then also is gonna have that offensive game.
We haven't seeking the defensive side of things developed as well as you want, And that could be in part because you're playing with Rudy Gobert, who is a former pupil for defensive player.
You then start to focus more heavily on the offense, and you're gonna be the engine that moves it on that side court.
So now you're not as focused on one areas, the other.
You can get incredibly proficient at one very specific area of your game on that, because you're not taking a look at the other area.
And even though this isn't ripping the conversation, we're all about just pure shooter and comparing with the great.
But that's why when you pull up this idea of okay, no season them feet.
MVP's one for heart Bernie got obviously, arguably made a great play of driver in history, so hard to have a debate, but five for Jordan.
You're talking about all NDP teams That's actually a relatively ah started final final on BP's can compare that once it's over, it's all MBA first team, 10 of five, so they attended five.
So far, you can certainly climb that mountain a little bit.
But then the defensive teams will dine for Jordan.
Obviously, we talk about defensive player of the year.
You talk about scoring leader, even even from that standpoint, the only two seasons has hardened Ledley and scoring as opposed to 10 for Jordan.
Now, is the league different? And there's more pure scores.
Pure cured shooters out there is.
There's a higher level of competition around.
That may be, but I think it, at least in this part of that conversation, has to go hand in hand.
If you're going to say one of the greatest pure scorers in the game.
Well, in my mind immediately goes to your one of the greatest.
I mean your winnings scoring titles, you know, on the season, the season basis.
So, uh, you know, and listen.
There's struggles for Harden to when it comes to playoffs.
You know, the burnout effect that happens to him, Leader foisting beyond the arc as well.
So you know, I I don't prescribe to the to the noting that Harden isn't the first guy and does isn't doing your areas of the game.
I think that's been predicated by what the offense has been there in Houston, by and large.
And then you seen a transition, at least in some.
Is when you brought back in Westbrook.
They're going to small ball lineup that that changes dynamics as well, but hardly said.
He's doing what, The team, what the play dictates.
He's going by what they want to see happen on those plays.
If there's better opportunities, better outlet passes, he's gonna take them.
So they're not a selfishness there, unnecessarily, which it is time in.
See, you could even look at a guy like Westbrook and say the triple double run and things if you're going to go into the Pantheon.
But it would be interesting to start to try to categorize them from a pure shooter perspective.
And I wonder how many times you have to say within a given area.
What of the collection of your shooters and which got a gonna fall during the Jordan era? Okay, he's getting the scoring titles year in year out, so you're gonna be behind that LeBron.
But he chose to do it for a couple of seasons when he wasn't doing the full all around game.
Kevin Durant is going to be in your way when he's 100% healthy.
Steph Curry can have a run at that over the course of his prima's.
Well, Johannes is going, you know.
So there's a lot of names you start throw out there now that this air that maybe Harden isn't gonna overcome in terms of getting the season accolades, but pick your back out on me start.
It's certainly a lot of it is across the board in the n. B. A.
This restart has just been such a phenomenal showcase, in reminder of just the sheer talent around on the MBA.
And it's not like you forget that these guys are as good as they are.
But because we haven't seen real live, meaningful MBA action, it has been even in the 1st 2 days.
Just ah, full steam ahead.
Yeah, you got that Little Toto to reverse layup from Johannes.
That was that was phenomenal thing of beauty, one of the defense's.
It's a little like the poundage of the court kind of charge that he was taking that in and of itself is a thing of beauty.
Modernized touch passes out from the low proposed getting out perimeter shooters across all of these games, not even in a small sample size 13 minutes look fantastic, you know.
So there's been I don't think Moran called that beautiful alley oop and just put it through with the 30.
All these guys were excited to be back.
All these guys like hard and excitedly making some some statements about what the expectations should be for them individually, for their teams in this restart, as we work through these 1st 8 games and then head towards the place fails.
So that way does he deserve to be.
Where should he be? Let's wait another three before for five years and then when, when it's still said for hard, and we'll have a better scope on that.
But at the very least, he's one of the best pure shooters a lot right now in the game, and it's fantastic that we're gonna get to see that over these next eight and then get into the playoffs and really see what that Westbrook pardon dynamic looks like now reunited so much later down in their career.
Listen, we remind you to follow Matt Brooks here.
Keith McPherson, Simeon Russell doing fantastic things, talking old, all about the n B.
A restart and some of the conversations that will start to bubble up As we move our way through the game action.
August is now efficient, underway.
The N B A is officially underway, and I am just excited to sit back and enjoy the basketball as it unfolds.
So it's like I could barely get the words out of my mouth.
As always, I've been out of affirmative.
Thank you for checking in with us and you will catch up with you soon.
