Hey, good morning and right on time as usual, 906 in the morning.
We're live Thursday.
It's fbc Radio live.
And I am me and Glendon.
We're gonna jump right into it. I'm gonna welcome in.
My CO says they do every single morning.
Mike, how we doing today? You know I'm doing well, buddy.
Yeah, You know what? You have right on time for us. Unusual.
But you know what? We continue to bring you the most action we possibly can packed into the time that we're allotted.
So you know what? Let's not waste time.
Let's kick right into it.
My friend is always a lot to talk about.
I I I blame this a little bit on myself, but mostly on ah, that the program I used to Ah, run the SportsCastr.
Ah, screen and stream.
Not SportsCastr itself.
But Thea, the program itself needs to be updated, and I kind of ah, laxed on that a little bit, so that that's on me.
So we're having a little trouble connecting.
So I had to restart a couple of times and, you know, here we are, but I believe in everything.
I thought We were blaming everything on Curt Schilling.
I thought that what was going on, I could I could I figured I'd give him a little bit of a break today.
Uh, yeah, it's true.
It's really It's not Rhode Island Internet problems today, so Yeah, well, don't give.
It will give him a reprieve.
Don't Don't speak.
Don't speak yet.
We you know, we still have, Ah, 52 minutes to go.
So you may may have a problem here and there, but, um no.
So, needless to say, we had some issues, But again, I just want to remind everyone tomorrow we will be.
Ah, we'll be starting at 8 30 promptly.
Actually, I I have 17 alarms set already, uh, every minute between eight.
And 8 17 just to make sure that I have everything set.
So, um, he's going with alarms, folks is not going with Wake up.
God, wake up. Nice.
Yes, Yes, Very, very much trouble.
So, you know, we're going to do that.
And then, obviously, obviously, starting on monday, uh, that's gonna be department time because, you know, it just seems like now all of a sudden we have so much to talk about every day.
And of course, Monday is also the premiere of our brand new afternoon show that airs from between two and 5 p.m.
every day, Monday through Friday.
So we're gonna have you covered from 8:30 a.
Every single day. It's gonna be pretty fun.
We're pretty excited about that.
Hopefully, ah, it keeps everyone here tuned in.
Um, this show is gonna obviously still be on SportsCastr.
So if you watch on SportsCastr certainly continue to do so.
We encourage that we like being seen.
Or at least I do.
Mike, you know, it's hiding behind the current.
I don't even know.
I just I pulled that image office.
Ah, Stock photo website.
Um, I don't even know if that's him.
You know, he could be tall.
Ah, red hair and freckles.
Who knows? I have no idea.
I've never seen Mike before, but I I just assume that's what he looked like.
Yeah, it's kind of an Italian referring.
You have You have people in the picture frame that you don't know actually knew a guy once that just bought picture frames on these pictures up of these people that he didn't know.
Now they water see now they actually put watermarks on it and like that.
But when I was a kid, that was one of my uncles friends that, you know, I had about three brain cells, but a great sense of humor.
And that's what he would do.
We go around buying these pictures, and he just put these pictures up of people that he didn't know it was a conversation starter for him.
So I know I am the way I am.
Yeah, when I was around thes on my formative years spent with people, you know, like this and senses of humor like that.
So anybody that wonders now you know why I am the way well, it makes sense.
So a lot of things actually makes sense now now that now that I am now, now that I think about it.
But but was I right with the picture, though? Did I Did I figure correctly, short Italian? That's kind of what I was going for.
Yeah, pretty much Okay, Pretty much.
You nailed it, Ugo.
So you know who didn't do well according to a lot of people.
Ah, the NFL players.
You like that transition? Uh, the the NFL concluded working on it, you know, and maybe they do this every year, and I kind of forget, but I don't really pay attention, but I feel like this is something that usually draw dragged out a little bit longer.
But I feel like they did this all within the last week and, you know, hey, whatever it gives us stuff to talk about, but, ah, they finished the rest of the list, obviously.
And much to my delight, Mike, much to my delay.
Let me let me tell you, Patrick Mahomes was not number one.
And it's not because, again, I I just enjoy the outcry that's going on right now.
Uh, amongst just Twitter folks and everything about Oh, my God, it zits.
How could he not be number one blah, blah, blah.
And I just ah, it's it's it just it brings a smile to my face.
So obviously he comes in at number four for the second year in a row.
And ah yeah, Lamar Jackson.
The unanimous M v p mind you was number one and rightfully so.
Look, folks, thes lists are we talked about it already? These lists are kind of ridiculous.
Already to begin with.
I said that the moment they put Tim Tebow number 100 back in what was a 2011 or whatever it was, I just laughed, You know, it was it was, you know, Yeah.
I mean, it was just like it was like classic sitcom laughter.
I don't take this that seriously, and, you know, I've committed to that stance from that point on.
So ah, so again, take these lists with a grain of salt.
And again, these are voted on by the players.
So the players really don't you know, for the most part, I'm generalizing here.
There's obviously a lot of players out there that do pay very close attention, everything that goes on the NFL.
But for the most part, a lot of these players and you'll be surprised about some of the players who just, you know, they come in, they do their job. That's it.
They never watched a game of NFL fall in their life, and it's it's it's kind of shocking.
But then, when you realize you hear it a lot, it's not really so, um, the idea that these players are voting on the best players, it's, you know, they're not the best.
Not that the media is either.
But, you know, it's again.
These are all subjective.
But I I did enjoy the outcry because the funny thing is, and I saw this a lot.
The logic being used as to why Patrick Mahomes should be the number one player would mean that Tom Brady was still the best quarterback in the league last year, despite Mahomes M V P title.
Because what they're saying is as well well, the homes one in every P and then he won a Super Bowl.
This year, he should definitely be number one.
Well, you know what you want an M V.
P in 2017 and then went on and beat Mahomes twice in 2018 and ultimately won a Super Bowl.
I don't know Tom Brady, the guy that they were so quickly to toss aside at that year because my Holmes was, you know, doing all these flashy things.
So, um, I enjoyed it.
I I like the fact that the people are in uproar, you know? Do I agree with it? Sure.
I mean, look, Mark Jackson was unanimous. M v P.
You know, if this is a year to year thing, then yeah, of course.
He's the best player in the league.
I mean, why not? So Ah, yeah, I thought it was funny.
Um, I do disagree with ah breeze being ahead of Brady, But again, you know, that's that's my opinion.
And I again, I don't think these lists are made with any sort of great, you know, deliberation and and and research.
But I don't know.
What do you think? What were your thoughts? Where did you enjoy this? As much as I did, or am I just, you know, turning into the the anti Mahomes guy.
I enjoyed it a little bit.
Well, well, if it you know, you know, you then embarrassed, embarrassed Mahomes a little bit, you know? No, all kidding aside, folks.
You know, I take these list with a grain of salt, and I said this, you know, yesterday here on fbc Radio Live and saying it all week long, unlocked on the patriots.
You have to take these lists with a little bit of levity, knowing that, you know, the players are voting.
I mean, so obviously, you know, there is some seriousness to what? I'm not going to sit there and just discount it, but I join you in and finding it pretty hilarious and pretty ironic that the same people that are making arguments about Mahomes winning the Super Bowl.
Ah, and that being the criteria for him being number one are the same.
People that have gone voice dead have given themselves laryngitis, screaming at the top of their lungs that football is a team game and that Tom Brady didn't win Super Bowls by himself.
But now all of a sudden, Patrick Mahomes is winning titles all by himself.
I didn't realize the dynamic could change that quickly.
Look, folks, it's an individual award.
Lamar Jackson was the unanimous M v p.
The voters got this right.
The players got this right.
I know a lot of people don't want to acknowledge that, because it takes away from the narrative of the Almighty that's being deified right now and again.
I know we sound very big, Anti Patrick Mahomes, folks, I assure you I'm not really Patrick.
It's when I favorite players toe watch.
I respect him tremendously both on and off the field.
This is more of an indictment on the coverage that he's getting, and I think the the the laurels that are being thrust upon him when he's still finding his own identity in the league, you know, I know he tweeted out. He tweeted out.
What was it? The little no pad emoji thinking I'm taking notes and what not.
You know, I don't have a problem with that with Patrick doing that at all.
I mean, obviously, you use whatever you need to use to motivate yourself to be a better players.
I have no problem.
Zero problem doing that.
But when you have people with blue check marks next to their name, um, had that I am saying tongue in cheek.
I'm not sure how well that check mark is deserved at times.
But whatever you have people like that that are making these disingenuous arguments trying to sound profound and very over the top when it comes to their intellectual abilities to explain to you why Patrick Holmes is the Superior Court well, y 80.
These list year after year after year.
I don't hear anybody crying about Tom Brady being right.
If anything, you're seeing people that are saying, Oh, he should have been ranked lower than that was Aaron Rodgers right behind Tom Brady.
Oh, my, exactly.
Yeah, exactly, yeah, crickets on that, you know, circuit that that will make those arguments.
But look, bottom line is, folks, if this list rubs you the wrong way a little bit, focus on what your team is going to do on the field and that'll get you by.
I mean, look, Patriots fans air up in an uproar this morning, and I think they have a legitimate argument about Julian Edelman being left off.
This list completely had one of his statistically best seasons last year fighting three different ailments, any one of which would have put a normal player on the shelf for a few weeks.
Gillian was playing through all three of them.
At one point in the season, he was nursing all three injuries at the same time, still playing on the field.
So you know there's g****s.
Kansas City fans being upset about this.
This is a little disingenuous, considering you're celebrating the Super Bowl championship.
Try enjoying that, believe me.
Because, you know, I mean, I know in New England they came at a premium for a while, but trust me, they're not tough to get.
Ah, and you're watching one of the most exciting players in the NFL right now.
Do his thing and grow into himself.
But pump the brakes a little bit right now.
There's no need to, you know, canonize.
You know, Uh, you know your hero right now.
Give him a chance to prove himself.
Give him a chance to do what he needs to do.
He's already proven he's a winner, and he's already proven he can do it on the biggest stage.
But before you start anointing that pedestal again, I go back to what Ric Flair says.
You did it once.
Now let's see you do it again because that's how the great ones make their name.
Mike's a lot nicer than I am.
I I you know what my my role is going to be in this because again, and I'm here to fight the the outrageous takes, and it's kind of turned into just me turning into a ah, you know, Let's let's pump the brakes on Patrick Mahomes guy, which again? I mean, there a lot of it is again the the rush to to anoint this guy and in a part of it is annoyance on my part element that sure, Absolutely.
It's It's, you know, I want to be able to appreciate a career play out and not here in year two that he's on quote unquote goat pace.
And you know you're the most talented this or most incredible that.
And it's just like I can't, um, you know, I just I can't e I just I can't handle that.
It's just it's it's too much for me.
I I I need some more intelligent conversation when it comes to it, But look, let's let's be real.
We're talking about again.
We're talking about those listings voted on people like, How can you not be number one? This is ridiculous, Bubble, but we'll look, I'm looking at a list and I see Yes.
Okay, now he missed two games.
I see okay, two games and it's and it's not a huge deal.
It's not gonna make up for, you know where he ranks in some of these 10th in yards.
Ah, you know his.
His Q b R was second behind Lamar Jackson.
He was, ah, eighth with his passer rating.
His touchdowns were, you know, is Touchdown.
Ah, combination ratio was what's pretty on par with several other quarterbacks.
So, like to me, where is this? Ah, just where does he stick out? To the point of, like, you know, putting up putting him up so high above everyone else Now again.
Like I said, I'm not going to say he's not a talented young player and he's one of the best younger quarterbacks in the league.
But, like, you know, don't assume that year one is what's gonna happen every year, because so far, it hasn't.
It happened once he benefited greatly from a from a fantastic collection of players around him.
Not to say that he wasn't a big part of this success, but I'm saying, like I mean, come on, people, if you're going to use this ridiculous narrative with Tom Brady, used the same thing with you know Patrick Mahomes.
Let's put things in perspective and take a step back and actually enjoy what him and some of these other quarterbacks are doing.
But the bottom line is, look, Lamar Jackson was better than he was last year.
There was other quarterbacks that were better.
Russell Wilson was better than he was last year.
So, like, Don't give me this.
Oh my God, he got robbed.
No, he fell right where he is.
Like, let's let's be real here.
The players, you know, in this sense, I guess kind of saw it right up.
But you know, who knows, anyways? The rest of the list.
Derrick Henry Number nine.
Stephon Gilmore eight.
DeAndre Hopkins seven.
George Kittel six.
Christian McCaffrey five.
Poor Patrick Combs. Three.
Aaron Donald to Russell Wilson and Lamar Jackson.
So that's the That's the top 10 We are, we mentioned.
Tom Brady came in at 14.
Um, I think what Drew Brees was, what, 13 or 12 and then Aaron Rodgers was 16.
So, um, I obviously kind of I disagree with that, Uh, if you folks out there listening, want to chime in and let us know where you thought the list went wrong, give us a text or call 626310 triple 8 to 1 more time.
626310 Triple 82 And that was the first time I didn't actually have to look at the number to read it.
I remembered it, and I think I got it for good.
But, um but yeah, So obviously I have a problem with having breeze over Brady.
But again that that might be a little bit bias and, uh, who knows again? Well, we'll see what happens this year, but any other issues any other g****s, any other ah pains in your rear end coming from this list? Not really.
I really I don't have a whole lot of, ah, negativity.
Like I said that I take these lists with a grain of salt that was happy to cease the fund.
Gilmore get his just due and be ranked in the top 10.
I think he absolutely deserves it.
Anybody that hasn't checked it out definitely check out the video on NFL Network on the Web site, but I believe it's also been tweeted out several times on their Twitter account of Ah ah Buffaloes Trey Davis White talking about Spahn Gilmore and the difficult progressions that he sees when making coverages.
It's, you know, it's it's an eye opener, and it really lets you see that some of these players air so well revered by others, even when they don't necessarily get the amount of press that other players would get in other markets or whatever players do take note of these things, and I think a lot of times that that falls through the cracks.
So that was probably my favorite moment last night, obviously the homer identifying with the team.
But I really don't have a whole lot of gripe.
I I would have ranked Brady higher.
That's just my opinion.
I think, you know, were very like minded when it comes to that.
But the end product really didn't really didn't upset me all that much.
I know a lot of people were trying toe feigned outrage, and I think a lot of it is Mawr manufactured than not.
But, uh, ultimately, I didn't think it was all that bad.
Yeah, I mean again, Like I said, I mean, thes air thes air.
Pointless lists are it? Did they don't matter.
They're I mean, they're really I mean, at the end of the day.
It just it just gives us content to talk about.
Little is not none of this matters.
Uh, that's that.
That's a new one.
I I added I was doing some Ah, some some soundbite research last night.
So, you know, I want one of my, um I don't know how many people watch the show.
I mean, I've only really watched the first couple seasons.
I know what it was like 10 seasons of the show, and it changed names like, three different times.
What? Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
You know, during my, um, let's say college days, you know, there was a many of many a time sitting around studying, studying and, ah, watching Aqua teen, and I'm laughing at the stupidity.
But, you know, hey ah, when one of the great characters out of that show was Carl and ah, yeah, I love a lot of his son, but I said to clean some of them up, though, there's some I can't play on this show.
That's just, you know, it's just not gonna not gonna it's a yeah, I mean, definitely There was definitely some sound bites that we love to be able to use their own.
FBC RADIO light folks, But we try to keep it a family atmosphere.
Try to keep that PG rating.
Eso I think we're in good shape when it comes to that, but, uh, you know Hey, who knows? Maybe we'll do it overnight, show one time and let the expletives flying.
Really, Really not.
Hold that and let everybody know what we really think so Yeah, it'll be, Ah, will be.
It'll be FTC at night, You know, after midnight a little, it'll be a little fun.
I like it on Leah.
Vince McMahon doesn't voice over that, of course.
You gotta get yet.
You got what? Vincent.
I wonder if ah, he could be on cameo.
Perhaps, You know, maybe we can hire him, you know, get it, get a little ah, get a little sound bite for that.
But you know, that's possible now, and it's very possible anything is possible in my friend like Bastable.
Like the Boston Bruins playing to night.
Yeah, that's right.
The Boston Bruins are filling in tonight.
I know it's an exhibition game.
Ah, but, you know, we've been able to watch them hockey the last couple days and finally finally going to see ah, the Bruins in action, and I'm excited to see it.
And, ah, they obviously kick off their, um ah, round Robin play on the on Sunday.
So pretty excited for that.
I'm not gonna lie.
But my my phantom speaking out, you know? Yeah, all kidding aside, this is yeah, that this is what hockey fans have been waiting for is what Bostonians have been waiting for.
I mean, I think a lot of people are just really excited to see Bruins hockey back.
That may have been the most unfortunate part of the Corona virus shutdown of professional sports.
Up here in New England is how well the Bruins were doing, and they looked like they were on a collision course with another run to the Stanley Cup.
And now I don't see any reason why they can't resume it.
But to get it back, it's something that's exciting for all Boston sports fans.
So we love our Bruins up here in, uh in New England.
I'll be watching.
I know my good friend on the other end of microphones gonna be watching you be watching very intently and very much up close and personal, but great stuff.
And it'll be great to see the Bruins back out on the ice.
And absolutely, absolutely.
And you know what? They are going to win the Stanley Cup.
Let me tell you, they are going to win the Stanley Cup.
I'm not gonna give away anything else, But let me just tell you that prediction.
That's a fact of life.
So with that said that we do have to go to a break real quick, real quick, real quick, because we got to get her guest on which is not really guest.
He's kind of like a de facto third co host when, ah, whenever we see fit.
We'll be back in just just a couple minutes.
Got Kyle joining us, I think.
Yep. No. Is camera is moving. All right.
He was just staring very intently.
I didn't know if it was frozen, but we got Kyle back here because Well, not reading.
Last sweet rate against someone.
In the end, it makes sense that you were staring Very.
Like I said, Sometimes I worry that maybe, Ah, you know, maybe your camera freezes, and then we have to, you know, figure things out on the flight, which I don't mind doing.
We do it out that all the time here in FBC radio and fbc all the time.
You know, Just got we always gotta, you know, be ready to go next, man up whenever it happened.
So, um, it hasn't been there long.
It has been a long since we've seen you.
We saw yesterday.
In fact, so I hope people aren't Sekiya.
If they're not sick of us, they're certainly not sickly you at this point so they can't get sick.
That's a different Everybody sick of us already.
What? Kyle, you can't get nice to informative.
He's too upbeat.
You know, there's just this too much out of that.
So, uh, good to see you this morning, buddy.
Thanks. Like any.
Honestly, I'm never sick of you to do so.
Um, yeah, he's the only one that's ever actually asked to come back on the show.
So you know, there's I don't know if that tells us anything, but hey, it is what it is before we get into the music.
Hey, look at me.
Look at me. Look, I wouldn't wanna be on camera.
Before we get into our discussion, we had a couple things we want to talk about.
What, Kyle? Um, including Pocky, Of course.
It's again contractually obligated to mention hockey at least once.
Ah, download the out, folks.
I got to do least once I got I gotta beg, you know, go to the Google play store, go to the apple store whatever devices you have, actually, if you have six devices downloaded on all six devices cause you never know when you're gonna want to access it because we have obviously you can listen to this show in all of our live programming.
Which again, Reminder, Starting Monday, Tom Brady's birthday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Monday through Friday.
We got you covered with live radio.
So you don't even ever have to change the station.
You can sit on one station all day every day, so download the app. It's free.
There's ah, you know, we're always trying to update it.
I'm I'm updating a few a few of the things now, so hopefully it'll be, Ah, very enjoyable for everyone out there.
So yesterday Mike and I were talking about the Dodgers and the Astros, and you know, the whole situation with Joe Kelly and and I know our our friends.
Dylan Ross had a lot of fun because once an Astros fan and wants a Dodgers fan.
So, um, I know they enjoyed it quite a bit.
I enjoyed it because Joe Kelly is a former Red sock and I Red Sox player and I I just like the attitude.
But today or yesterday they handed down a eight game suspension to Joe Kelly, and I about Well, I was gonna say my my job, you're almost dropped to the floor.
But then I then it didn't and I just started laughing because it makes sense because, you know, hey, it's it's major league baseball and they really I mean, if the NFL doesn't exist, I I I would say they were the worst, that player discipline and consistency.
But the NFL does exist.
So, you know, fortunately for them, they are not number one, but they do come in and number two.
So, Mike, I'm gonna actually really quick.
First, what did you think? I thought that the suspension of eight games, which you know, extract, you know, put put across the full 1 62 would be 22 games.
That's the, you know, the equivalent of 22 games in 162 game season.
Ah, do you think this suspension was warranted? And do you have any problem with the fact that Joe Kelly will serve more games than any Astros player? Ah, that for the cheating scandal.
I don't agree with the length of suspension.
I think eight games, considering the the length of the season right now is disproportionate to the crime.
And you do have a problem with the fact that he's going to be serving more time than the Astros players that were involved in this.
I don't want to hear that this was some sort of mastermind and that the players didn't know what was going on.
I think that's absolutely disingenuous, and I think it's ridiculous.
Um, look bottom line.
I got a good chuckle lot of Joe Kelly's instagram post yesterday, and I know if anybody saw it, folks, I know you did.
And Ah, Kyle, I'm not sure if you did Check out Twitter, folks.
The legend of Joe Kelly is only growing with this.
Basically stating he apologizes to absolutely nobody this really Riesling a wrestling promo.
I mean, how great would it be? I can pick Joe Kelly stepping out in the middle of the ring and pulling like a like a like a very Bret Hart esque, you know, like, uh, promo.
I apologize for nothing.
You know, the Astros are hiding in their dugout, becomes I'm suspended.
Just wait to, like, you know, this is a guy that just didn't hold back, you know? We saw him.
You know what, the fund and with the between the Red Sox and the Yankees, Joe Joe Kelly beat dances to the beat of his own drum.
And you know what? Go ahead, do your things and do what you do.
But the problem is that I do have with it, and I guess I will, you know, sort of walk the line here is you just don't go after a guy's head.
I think that's that's extremely, um, in just just vile and in any in any case, Ah, I don't know what is true intentions.
Where if that's what he was trying to do.
I mean, Joe Kelly is a professional major league pitcher.
These guys were very good control.
We did see his offseason pitching clip, though, where he threw the ball through.
Yeah, I mean, it could have really just got away from him, you know? Who knows? I mean it.
It could have, but yeah, that's that's right to draw the line.
I mean, head hunting is something that is extremely that that could really lead to some very serious problems.
And I say that with all sincerity.
So if there is a ah, bad lining to all this ah, definitely can understand where they're at Tristan be upset because that had happened.
But yeah, I mean, if he throughout his leg or, you know, you know, you know it is back or whatever like that.
I mean, I don't understand how Astros fans have anything to say about it.
It's just part of what's going on in this type of scandal, you know, is going to elicit that type of a response.
And I am not judge, jury and executioner.
I'm not going to sit here and, you know, lay the hand down on, uh, on the Astros.
You know, I'm just saying that you have to expect that players are going to be upset.
They're going to be angry, and you have to expect some sort of retaliation, especially in a major league.
Baseball's not taking the mantra doing it themselves.
You know, I'm glad you brought up.
Ah, the idea that it remind you wrestling promo because it was right on time because Mr Trivia mania himself Mr.
Four Time Rucker, four Time joined us.
Ah, just on in time to hear that.
And I do want to say without giving away anything cause I don't want to.
I want to step on.
This shows they have a pretty big episode, a boot to the face coming up this week.
So keep your eyes tuned for that.
That that's all I'm going to say.
I don't want I don't want to spoil any surprises, but, you know, check it out.
Keep an eye out.
It's right there on full press coverage and wherever you get your podcasts, including folks, including the full press coverage apso.
Kyle, I know you have some thoughts on it, you know, let us know.
What do you think? Do you agree with the suspension? By the way, Mike, I don't think he was purposely trying to hit him in the head.
I just thank he, you know, try to, you know, try to let him know who's who.
That's it, that's all.
Believe me, folks, I am not insinuating that Joe Kelly was hunting for his head.
What I'm saying is that if that is the case, and players start to really think about taking matters into their own hands, if you have someone that actually does that intentionally or even either admits it or it becomes overt, that's when it becomes a problem.
That's when major League baseball has to step in.
I don't care what the Astros did.
Nothing warrants, you know, potentially risking ah, life threatening injury for a united type of based.
In no way am I insinuating that was, uh, was doing that.
Major league baseball players have good control, so I mean, the thought has to be there.
But ultimately everything record.
Oh, yeah, Very, Very so.
Yeah, very much.
You know? Yeah. Anyways, Kyle.
So first off, I'm surprised Chris hasn't changed.
Name of boot to the face to boot for the face.
And then I'm presuming he keep used to it.
It's kind of like Bill Bell checks boat.
He has to change the name of it.
Just about every year.
It Zarin what a big sacrifice it is. It is.
I mean, unfortunately, it's been a little over a year since the last time he's changed it, but so it's kind of getting that.
I'm getting a little brown nose, but go ahead.
Yeah, well, like starting starting to peel off now, but, uh so OK, so I again peripherally a paying attention in baseball, maybe a little bit more this year because this cheating scandal was so pertinent and there really wasn't much else going on sports flies.
But you remember, Major League baseball did come out with a statement kind of after, you know, it was announced that no players would be suspended.
Um, and in the talks of pictures started to throw it hitters, and they came of adamantly, anyone that stolen that there will be suspended.
So I think anyone who is surprised he was suspended probably wasn't paying attention to that.
I mean, I saw that I was surprised he wasn't.
He was suspended.
Yeah, I have to say you were, But I think I I saw that on Twitter.
It seems like some people like they were shocked, absolutely blown away by the fact that he was suspended but, like, again meet peripherally paying attention.
I remember that.
They said they would suspend players for this and they would like it would be more severe, like you said, like If you know, if you prevent this toe a full season, that's a 22 game suspension, Get not baseball expert.
Don't think anyone's ever been spending that long.
First, like you get to spend it that long for steroids, but not like throwing a picture right? Like I don't know that that would be that would that would be a very heavy suspension.
For sure you guys are like, Do they normally give out double digit suspensions for going? I mean, it's generally not, but I think you make a great point.
I think people right now are surprised that the length of the suspension, But from major League baseball's perspective, what they're going for is that shock and awe value like, yeah, you think you're gonna be able to get away with that? We're not just gonna give you a game here, we're gonna come down hard on.
We're gonna come down even harder, the next person that tries it.
So I think in a lot of ways they're trying to send a message.
That being said, I still don't agree with the length of the suspension.
I think it's far too harsh, but I think that's where Major League Baseball is trying.
That's their logic is, Well, we're gonna throw the book at you right off that.
And then, you know, God help anyone that tries to do it again will make it even wars and nip it in.
If this is if this is any other team, just even get a game. Like if this.
If this is just like if he's playing against the Texas Rangers, do they just say, Oh, cause again? He threw four balls were like I washed the sequence like he didn't seem like he had to control in any of those four pitches.
So you could give me if it's a different team.
You get out of that, make an appeal on making arrangement, he gets out of the Scot free.
And it's just because I Yeah, I would probably say so.
Cause, you know, again, I mean, there gonna be watching, um, obviously with a little bit more.
Ah, closeness to to the Astros and everything like that.
And, look, Joe Kelly has got, you know, he's got a history of stuff like this, so that I'm sure that played a factor, too.
So, um, either way, you know, for this particular thing before Well, yeah, I mean, he's an intense play, you know? He's an intense player.
He makes faith's.
He shouts things, you know? He you know, he's is harsh on himself as he is other again.
This is kind of up his alley, So not surprising that he did something, but, um, no, again, I thought eight games was pretty harsh.
I you know, a couple of games.
You know, I understand why you know? Hey, it happens, but I will say there's a lot of the sports.
Well, then we're about talk with hockey there.
Definitely one of them, Especially with head hitting.
Uh, you think? Talk about Boston.
You think about it.
Marc Marc Savard, right? Yeah.
How? Severin extensions for head hits, right? And think, Yeah, but how long it tell to find Get to a point.
Yes, it and then the poor guy.
I think it was calling that that happened to get the one hit on someone after they were already looking and they he got the book thrown at him, Right? That's what seems Thank you.
So I think it's clearly trying.
So in that regard, I like it because they are trying it, you know, as my community.
That was a pretty dangerous pitch.
If it is, if it is, yeah, but I think it's rather than severe, but not severe enough.
And let it keep happening, right? Like if you really want to put in the But I Yeah, but I don't I don't think that they did this because it was a pitch.
I said, like, I don't think this was the Yes, it's the sorry.
No, no cir***stances, sir.
I don't the logistics that determine what they did.
I agree with that.
And I don't I don't think it was close enoughto warrant.
Ah, you know too much alarm.
You know what I mean? Like again? I don't necessarily agree with going up that I Maybe you should have thrown it a little bit lower.
Um, but I also don't think that it was, You know, this really high and tight type of throw to the point where you're like, wow, you're seriously risking injury now again, anything could happen.
You, the Balkan, get away from you, even if your intent wasn't to do so.
So again, that's that's start mean issues.
But I don't think major league baseball, you know, suspended.
And that was their reason.
I think it was because it is the Astros and because, you know, again, I kind of think that their whole process is a bit and confidence.
So I'm gonna nip this conversation in the but because we do have other things to talk about real quick.
I do want to ask you, Kyle, because, um, Mike and I had a pretty spirited conversation about the NFL Top 100.
And before I I talked to you about the latest opt out NFL player topped out, I do want to ask what your opinion was of it.
Do you agree? Did you? Do you enjoy the fact that Patrick Holmes is not number one? As much as I do, There's another $100 I see it.
You know, I I don't I don't care enough any sort of like I don't feel positive about it.
I don't feel negative about it.
I mean, it makes that.
I mean, Lamar Jackson broke the single season QB rushing record like I realized he wasn't number one.
Um, personally, obviously, like Holmes is what we said he was at number four.
Yeah, if you're doing an actual list of who's the best player in the NFL ice, I say it's the homes.
I think most people would say it's more homes, and I mean that nothing else really has to matter so that these four in this list doesn't really affect us.
But if you want to know why, I like it.
But why? What? Why is he the best player in the league or why does it No, no.
Why Im Syria, like I'm being serious.
Like why? Why is Because, Like, I'm trying to understand why, like, people are just Oh, no, no, no.
Of course he's the best player in the league.
But what you talked about, you know, statistical decline last year.
But what we saw last year was actually improvement in certain areas, especially with no sure silly e, I thought.
And again Andy Reid led offense.
You know that as a coach, teaching him clock management isn't gonna be priority, right? Like this bad Andy Reid is a clock management.
Did you notice any clock management areas in the playoffs Like it really was read? Letting Mahomes? Yeah, just trusting.
And when I guess a dumb time out in the Super Bowl for no reason.
But other than that, like I felt, Mahomes got a really good feel for how to run an offense, how to control the clock.
Because the big problem two years ago was they were like, what? Top three in the league, in points like the fifth most points ever scored.
But they were 26th in time of possession.
And it was there, almost two explosive.
And I thought last year Mahomes did an amazing job at figuring out okay.
When things aren't available deep, he'll go underneath.
He'll learn how to dream.
Oclock kind of like breathing.
Okay, okay, so So he's a real He's a really good quarterback.
And there there's a lot of them out there, and that's my point.
Like, Yeah, that was great.
And he had a really good He had a really good season, but it But you know, how is it? How has he gotten to the point where he is so much above and beyond everyone else? It is beyond me and to your point about the clock management thing in the playoffs.
They didn't really have an opportunity to screw up clock management because they're behind.
So, like you at that point, it becomes moot because you can't really screw up clock management when you're desperately trying to come back.
So, um, I don't know.
Like I said, I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer with him, but I'm trying to kind of pump the brakes because it's like I said this this Ah, this Ah, anointing him on a pedestal has gone so out of control.
Ridiculous that, like people are like Lamar Jackson.
How is he that, like you said, I mean, he broke their quarterback rushing record.
He was 36 6 in touchdowns and interceptions, and he was only the second unanimous.
M v p in NFL history and people are up in arms because Patrick Mahomes isn't number one and it's just like, No, he's a really good quarterback.
What you describe to me, what he did last season is what a lot of really good quarterbacks do now if he goes out next season and goes out those another 50 touchdowns and all that all of a sudden, Okay, now we're seeing where he differentiates himself.
But if next season he goes out and has another really good season like this, like I said, he's just a good is all these other really good quarterbacks now where does he differentiate himself to the point of putting them so high above everyone else? And that's that's where I you know, and and I to a certain extent, I agree because I think Russell Wilson's right there exactly exactly kind of.
I think the two of them are a cheer above everyone else.
And I mean, I think just in terms of just natural age decline, I think Brady and Rodgers air just they're no longer in the same tears.
I think they're Derek here behind there's those two right fingers all in all, So I think I'll hold my judgement.
I'll hold my judgement on Brady, especially until after this season, because again, because if he if he goes out and has, like, a stead goes and touchdowns and under 10 and I mean, all of a sudden you're like, Wait a minute, that's not a player that's in decline.
That's just player that, you know, had some unfortunate cir***stances surrounding him.
So, um, so again, I'll reserve judgment for Brady, especially until after the season again if if if he kind of stays where he's been.
He was last year with this offensive unit, then, Yeah, you can sit there and say OK, he's obviously, you know, taking a step back.
And he's 43 years old, of course, has taken a step back.
But if he goes on, just has another M V p caliber season.
I mean, what are we talking about here? You know, this isn't a player in decline.
This is just a player dealing with different cir***stances.
So, Mike, I think you wanted to chime in there for Ah, briefly.
So I hopefully we didn't lose your point there.
So go ahead if you have anything.
No, actually, there really wasn't.
It wasn't a situation where I was looking to jump in.
I was just kind of agreeing with what you guys were saying.
I think right now when you look at, uh, the the argument that the Kyle's making in that you know, when you have players ranked in the top five and it really doesn't matter kind of where they fall, you could really have your opinion Is that who is the best player in the league if you believe my home is the best player in the league? Absolutely.
I think you're gonna find a lot of company in that regard.
I'm saying I don't think the players necessarily got it wrong, and that's what we were getting at initially.
When you look at the season that Lamar Jackson had when you look at Russell Wilson and what he's capable of doing on the field.
Maybe with not such a impressive supporting cast is the one that my home says in Kansas City.
I think you could make the argument that any one of those guys deserves to be ranked in the top three or the top, you know, five.
So I'm not again.
I don't put a lot of stock into these lists.
I don't disagree with Lamar Jackson being number one.
I think a lot of the my discussed with this list really is not with how it was ranked.
It's really mawr of the disingenuous, with outrage and maybe even the fabricated outrage by a lot of, like I said, the Blue Check Brigade that's coming out now and trying to develop you that the list is garbage because this, this and this and this is the reason why I, um you know, keep in mind the players themselves vote for this.
I was always a big advocate when people would say Tom Brady is a system quarterback, Tom Brady's this Tom Brady's that I would say we'll have you listened to players that played with him and against him.
Most of all, players that have played against him that will attest to the fact that this guy is so well prepared.
He's so well adept at being able to play numerous styles, not just the Dinkins dunk.
That's the common narrative in the media and the narrative that would come back.
Oh, they're player.
What do they know? They played the game.
They're the ones out there playing the game.
They're playing against him.
They're not sitting behind a keyboard pretending to know everything about a sport that they probably good enough to play right there.
Say, I I'm taking that a little personal Mike s.
Oh, you know what? What I'm trying to say is that the people that are trying to make these arguments don't listen to all sides of the coin because simply either it doesn't fit their narrative or it's not something that they're willing to report.
If you're a true journalists, like to on the other end of the microphone right now, like a good friends that I'm sharing the microphone with right now, the fact that my life is effect, it is a fact of life that's absolutely right.
But when you take both sides of the argument, and then you go ahead and put your story out.
Now you're being now now you're essentially giving the people exactly what they need.
They're giving them both sides of the story and then your opinion as to how it all shakes out.
So that, to me, is this is really I think what most bothers me about this list is the outrage that surrounds it because they just think it's ridiculous.
It's a waste of time.
It's a list. It's a ranking.
Except where the the pieces fall and move on.
It really is not that big a deal.
Yeah, well, like I said, things conversation lasted a little bit longer than I should be saying.
A snide little Mahomes is the best quarterback easily on the way in 10 minutes, you know? Well, I mean, it was good.
It was good, though, because I I you know, I want to have that discussion, because again, I feel like it's just so easily just accept it. Oh, yeah.
Of course he's the best.
Well, again, you want to talk to someone who believes it right, cause I do believe the homes is the best quarterback exact.
You mean, you talk about all time.
You don't get to talk to someone who sees it right, And I will concede the again.
I don't think he's so much better than everyone else.
Like I do think it's a lot closer.
Especially that top four is still pretty close to me.
Yeah, well, and I'm like I said about the Williams. All right.
Well, I I maybe I might have to cut this short, but they do want toe.
I walked out of the debuted.
We might have to opt out of the Damien Williams discussion, Actually, I mean I mean, at this point, I mean, we might We might have to just, ah, bring you back tomorrow.
At some point, we'll have to guess we have an hour and 1/2 tomorrow.
So maybe we'll we'll do our hockey talk tomorrow since we've been kind on football this whole time, so we'll kind of keep it to that.
Actually, just because we got six minutes left, we really can't shift since I keep talking right now and killing more time.
No, I like I said.
I mean, I just I saw and I might probably saw this because I know Matt Chatham retweeted it.
Ah was probably Rex Chapman.
Probably tweet Tweet Editor Rick Wolff.
I want to say, originally he originally stole it.
Let's put it that way and tweeted it.
Um, So anyways, it was the two guys playing table tennis and you have one guy on, you know, in front of the camera.
And he's just like, I mean, he's bouncing back and forth.
He's running, He's doing all these like quick moves and he's all over the place.
And then you got this one guy chilling on the other side, barely moving his feet just casually.
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
It was like artistry.
And guess what he wants.
And the way match Adam put it was was perfect.
It was a comparison of the, uh the infatuation with the flash and with all the movement, and everyone's like, Wow, look at this. I mean everyone.
I bet when they saw it was like, Wow, look at this guy moving.
I mean, this guy's great.
He's awesome at table tennis, but at the end of the day.
It was guy on the other side that which much better He was cool, calm, collective and he was cerebral.
And to me, that's always been the point.
That's always been the argument that I've had for years with players verse Tom Brady because everyone's like, Oh, Brady's thinking dunk Brady's the sprays that no Brady's the other guy on the table sitting there.
Just boom, boom, boom bombo, making little subtle moves.
This that Oh, this looks easy.
But guess what? You know he's playing mind games with you and and again people get attached to the flesh.
And I think that is kind of what we have again here.
And look, people were like that with Aaron Rodgers and again his career played out to be one of the best in NFL history.
And that's not to say, and I still don't you know again.
I think he's, you know, in the hierarchy.
Obviously, I think Brady's at the very top, so obviously Rogers is behind them.
But that's not an insult.
Every quarterback, in my opinion, is behind Tom.
But again, at the end of the day, it's not about how flashy you can make it how many times you could do a no look, pass or or throw behind the back in a training facility with no defence defenders around you like people are starting to speak those things into existence as if he did them on the field.
And that's that's where it where.
It's getting to the point where this myth is growing.
It's kind of like Mike, and I'm gonna bring it back to a conversation we had earlier.
It's kind of like the race, all right, It's the race.
Jerry got off to such a quick start.
No one noticed, but the legend grew because he refused to race again.
We'll, of course, Mahomes obviously did play again.
But his legend is growing because the myth is growing because he refused to to to keep doing what he did in first.
Yeah, that's kind of the ****ogy.
I was going through a kind of sputtered there, say it's all because Damian Williams scored a Russian.
That's right exactly and like, and you see that you see people like, Wow, they scored 21 points in the fourth quarter.
It's like Well, yes, but like I mean, come on, that last touchdown was clear.
I mean, it was the end of the game, and he just It's like, Come on, guys like, really like *****s.
And I mean and I mean, actually, the dry before was another Damien Williams rushing touchdown.
But I don't think the homes does deserve credit for leading the team down the field again.
Granted, of course, a little.
You know, Bree deserves credit for the field that you know the very first Super Bowl.
They one leading the team to field goal range from Unitary to kick it.
I mean, that's that's what a quarterback has to do, right? Whether you are the one actually throwing in the end zone or not, it's still leaving todo When it's a long touchdown run like that, you can kind of see the talk against it.
But, um, for Damien Williams, he's often out.
I think the key there is Clyde Edward Teller probably will, as even as a rookie, get the majority of the work number two and three and four like that's gonna be interesting.
I mean, I wrote an article yesterday about it on going for two Darwin Thompson, the new free agent DeAndre Washington Elijah McGuire Darryl Williams is technically the longest tenured Chiefs running back, and you those four can be the pin number two, and any of those forget.
This training camp at battle between those four for who's, you know who they're presumably those three players that are going to make the roster is going to be really interesting.
If I had to get any money, I would, I would bet probably Darryl Williams is the safest to make the team just because he's been there the longest.
He could probably teach Edward to layer the system best.
So outside of those two, I'd say, you know, they signed DeAndre Washington for a reason in free agency.
So I'd like to see him get a chance.
Um, on Dynasty leagues, I had Damien Williams.
I'm seeing whichever one of those four is available.
I'm picking up a much Islam was like, Can I think I got one league where I've got three of the guys, so that's to monitor to keep going.
But that's that's you.
So it'll definitely be a situation we got Teoh keep an eye on So, folks, that's it.
We're actually wrapping up.
We got about 20 seconds left so real quick I got to let everyone know fall Full press coverage.
