I am mascara usn and this is my coast at Sam Daring underscore USN.
We both work for our unwrapped A sports network.
And right now we're just gonna discuss Breast of the NFC East.
We are going to be talking about the New York Giants and the new and improved Washington football team.
A new team name for the Washington Redskins is the Washington football team.
So we're gonna start things off with the New York Giants.
I start off with you, Sam.
What are your thoughts on the New York Giants offseason? They had an interesting one.
I mean, Dave Gettleman.
We all know he's one of the worst G m's in the NFL.
Um, so he actually approached the strap quite well.
I mean, he mean to me if you had the fourth pick, there's so many things that they could have done with that big.
I mean, a lot of people wanted Isaiah Simmons, but they needed They needed to protect the quarterback they drafted.
Two linemen are three linemen.
I'm sorry They dropped the two tackles and one guard.
So Andrew Thomas, it's weird because he was fluctuating his his draft stock fluctuated like so much like I mean, he he started out being like a top 10 pick.
And then he started falling just because other tackles started shining my chest and worst Mukai, Becca and Jesuit Wills.
And then, the day before the draft, he his draft stock went right back where it waas.
So I mean, their draft was one surprisingly well for a front office like that, led by their GM, David Gettleman.
What do you think? Yeah, I first agree with you as well.
I was kind of on the fence like I kind of figured either the Giants were going to go after an offensive lineman or Isaiah Simmons.
I feel like they couldn't go wrong either way.
So you look at the Giants, They d they need to improve on their defense, and they would have looked like seven.
But they also need to improve their line to help Daniel gels.
And that's what they did with Andrew Thomas.
I thought they were going to get Isaiah works the tackle from Yeah, Tristan works, but But I wasn't disappointed in this election, and I think it's definitely a good the green down, especially from the draft two years ago when the Giants took Daniel Jones with six pick.
I was very surprised that happened, but I definitely like they bounced back with Andrew Thomas Pink.
I also like the other picks up they made in the third around.
They draft the offensive tackle that appear at a Yukon and in the Organ guard in the fifth round.
Shame, shame on you.
I definitely believe all of the Guard picks are going to make a big impact.
And if there's one Garden Chapel, are you concerned with the Giants? Is it would be Nate Nate Solder like That's not forgive.
The Giants paid dates older a couple years ago, made him one of the highest paid tackles in the NFL, and he's kind of flop so far, like he hasn't been the same same kind of guard tackle.
He wasn't leading to England.
So with this draft and the amount of guys that day that they selected on the line like he could be on the fringe on making sure that he can that he has to perform well, don't forget about their second round pick.
Uh, Xavier McKinney.
I think you missed two games because he played a little bit of nickel corner throughout his her throat his last year. Alabama.
I mean, so that's a guy that can be played in multiple areas around that secondary.
So, like versatility is key for that secondary and zero.
McKinney was a little bit surprised he fell out of the first round as well, so that, to me, is definitely one of their biggest steals of the giraffe.
In fact, they were able to land them where they got him.
That's, uh, the Alabama safety exhibit McKinney.
Definitely a huge selection for for the New York Giants, especially when when you're a team like the New York Giants at any pick helps.
Like Examiner McKinney, if he does well, like if he can play like a first round talent that he should have been and they were able get him in the second round, it will be a huge win from especially being paired up alongside with another safety and Jabrill Peppers on the other side.
Hopefully, hopefully, like either one of those two guys could be kind of like what land in college was to the Giants before he signed signed his big deal with, but I believe it was the Redskins.
It's getting so I really liked your real peppers.
Yeah, coming out of Michigan, the Browns picked, um later in the draft.
I think they had, like, two or three first round picks here.
They picked him and they ended up trading him to the Giants.
Um, first, every day.
Yeah, he's definitely going to be one of their hybrid guys.
He's got the height and he's got the size and the body for him for it.
And we've seen it happen before, especially when used in college.
Like that admission You didn't? Yeah, definitely.
So good Draftniks, thereby by the New York Giants.
Another pickup they also made was in the sixth round.
They they picked up the Penn State linebacker Cam Brown.
Do you believe he'll make any any impact at all on the job? Thanks.
This season? Um, no, I think that's a little bit more of a depth move because they did bring in Leonard Williams, which I could come about to me.
I think that was one of their biggest splashes they made in the off season.
In regards to free agents because that defense needs a lot of work, let along the entire team, obviously with the defense to mean it's more work than their offense.
So I think that was a little bit more of a depth food because they did bring him under Williams, who I think will make a pretty good impact with, um Well, yeah, that definitely will make a big impact that that is for sure.
Uh, let and let's move on to the near Giant.
Some of their free agent signings they were.
They were very, very active in the free HR kit, one of them being they signed X Scream Bay Packer, Blake Martinez.
I believe that was a It was a three year, $30 million.
3 year, $1,000,000 time deal.
And then they also brought in another former Packer Kyler Finance macro Well, as well uh, your thoughts kind of on those signings by by the Giants.
I don't recall what he wanted.
I think I think Blake Martinez wanted 10 to $12 million a year.
I think it was 10 plus a year with the Packers.
I mean, history has shown with the Packers drafted, they were they don't draft linebackers in the first ride.
It's It's been a while since they drafted a linebacker in the first round.
That's made a significant impact, and I know a lot of people will say that.
Blake Martina Air like that? What Blake Martinez struggle.
That was in coverage, which is obviously true, and it is hard to do the head of times, but I would have given Blake Martinez half of what he wanted.
I mean, I I don't really think that's a huge loss.
But the inside linebacker like we discussed before in Green Bay, Um, that's that's position's wide open.
But to his impact with the Giants, you have Leonard Williams.
You have Kyler Fackrell, and then you know you.
Now you'll have Blake Martinez as well.
So the Kim Brown brings in depth, and they now have.
Linebacker corps? Uh, yeah, Hopefully.
Hopefully, it does well for the New York Giants, and I also agree with you as well what Blake Martinez went when he was with the Packers.
He was just kind of like a tackle guy, like only did, which is stack of tackles, which is good.
But the that's is only one part of the linebacker game.
Like when you're a linebacker like you gotta be able to make attacker tackles and you gotta be great.
And coverage and Blake Martinez seem toe only be good at just making tackles when the plane was already gaining, like five or six yards.
So if he can improve in coverage with the New York Giants that they got themselves a special linebacker.
But if he doesn't, then it's gonna be a waste of, Ah, $33 million the one something that I like is I like how they brought in Kyler Fackrell All I remember the one season that he had with Green Bay of Lee, 2018.
You have, like, 10 sacks.
It kind of looks like a one year wonder, but I think he's going to get more, a little more playing time with the Giants.
And hopefully he could.
You can revert back to that 2018 form because if he could get like a eight or nine sacks and it's gonna definitely gonna be a good signing there, especially Clinton being a one year when your type of deal, Yeah, I mean, like you said like he had what? He had 10 sacks two years ago.
I mean, the fact that he's going into a situation on the defense where there's so many unproven.
There's so much unproven talent.
So he very well could make quite a bit of an impact, that is for sure.
Other other free agent signings that the Giants made were a Cameron Fleming offensive tackle, former cowboy and then the tears.
Yes, they also did sign Dion Lewis, who I think is gonna make a good impact, especially being a good backup for sake. One.
And then they also signed a former Carolina Panthers quarterback, James Bradberry, for three years, $45 million with 32 million guaranteed.
We looking out of out of those three or four free agent list things that I just name, who do you believe will make an impact the most of the Giants and why? I mean, that's secondary.
That secondary looks atrocious right now, and I see Cam and Fleming as a guy that's going to step up.
What do you think? Uh, in my opinion, one of one of the main free agent signings that hope hopefully will will improve it.
It's gonna addition one, but I kind of want t What what Dion Dion Lewis could do.
The reason being is how good of a backup is gonna be for safe one Barkley, because it kind of dealing with the New York Giants and lasted, which is heavily rely on stay calm, Barkley.
And then when he got hurt, they didn't really have, like any, any other running backs toe help like fill in for a spot.
I feel like the Dion Lewis could be one of those.
All those players where, like, if say from Barkley, gets tired during the game where if he gets hurt, do you all lose? Could be a good guy that you could fill in there.
Hey, maybe a couple plays and also be utilized in the passing game, so I can't wait to see what Dion Lewis is able to do with the New York Giants.
Strube onto their, uh, head coach.
Probably one of the most only one of their bigger moves from that scene as a whole is Joe Judge.
We'll start with you, man.
What do you think of that? Higher.
I definitely thought thought it was interesting hiring I definitely think it's an improvement from a Pat Shurmur.
I feel like Pat Shurmur didn't really do a good job and was two years ago with the Giants.
It wasn't that long, but I I just hope that Joe Johns works.
Works out from a Giants.
I mean, we look at the Patriots coaching tree hasn't really been successful going. Josh McDaniels.
What's a coach with the Broncos in like 2009? He really didn't work out well when he eventually went back to New England as the offensive coordinator as he is today.
I will look at Look at Bill Brian.
I mean, he's been OK.
He hasn't been the best with Jackson's, but he's consistently making playoffs on.
I mean, we look at we look another coach, Matt Patricia, or he hasn't really done done well with the Lions winning six games one year, three wins, the next he's on the hot seat.
I mean, we look at the one coach I say that has the most upside right now.
That was a former Patriot with Brian Flores special when it is what he was able to do with Miami.
He's got something brewing there and hopefully for Joe Judge.
He could do the same thing, you know, Hopefully, Joe Judge could bring a type of culture from the Giants, where maybe in the not show like our midfield, maybe they'll start out slow.
But hopefully, by the end of the season, they could rack up a couple wins.
Kind of like what the Miami Dolphins did last year.
We're gonna dolphins.
They were like the 1st 3 weeks.
The Miami Dolphins were like one of the worst teams historically we have ever seen.
And then as the season went on, they started to rack up.
Believe they won.
They won their final like over last nine games and finished like 5 11 So if you're if you're the Giants, you just want to see significant improvement, especially from Daniel Jones.
Like if Joe Judge could make a slight improvement and Daniel Jones from year one to year or two, I feel like it could be a success for the New York Giants.
That's the only thing that open for them Yet.
There's so many like offense and defense of coordinators that just aren't good head coaches, and they're much better where they previously were and Pat Shurmur was definitely one of them.
Pat Shurmur, 100% to serve the head coaching job, unfortunately, did not end did not go as planned.
And now he goes to an unbelievable situation in Denver and up and coming offense.
And hopefully Drew Lock. Is there answer.
They're building talent around, hooting with Courtland Sutton.
Jerry Judy, No offense L Row and now building him, giving him even more protection.
So the Broncos were gonna be a funds even talk about when we get to them.
But the joke's Hodgett Joe Johns High.
I agree. That was an interesting one.
Just because, um, there were so many teams that I really think I could have used the Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric the Enemy.
And that kind of blows my mind how he's gone to straits two full of seasons without landing a head coaching job.
And the one big knock that everyone that probably is like a big one for him is that he didn't call the offense and play.
Yeah, but like if you look at in his offense, he was like he had played a significant role in the success of the Chiefs offense.
I don't understand how Joe Judge and Kevin Stefanski it landed head coaching jobs with absolutely no resume.
But Eric the enemy can't land.
Look for two straight full for two straight seasons.
Eric Bieniemy deserves a head coaching job.
But going back to Joe Judge and I was telling you about this before we went on air.
And if you compare the situations, um, of Kevin's Stefanski and Joe Judge, I think Joe judges going into a better situation because he has experienced personnel around him.
Jason Garrett might not be the best choice because they very welcome.
They could have gotten Pat Shurmur, which would have been great for him.
Um, but he's still experience, and I think it helps.
I think that will help Joe Judge to have experienced personnel around him versus Kevin's. Too fancy.
Who's going into? I mean, as far as I know, I don't even know.
I don't even know that.
I don't think the Browns know yet if he's calling place, but I could be wrong.
Yeah, definitely different situations per out.
Both sides of we also want to think at Elizabeth 99 for the little 10 10 tick tick.
We We appreciate that.
Anyways, back to your job.
Judge Kevin's too fancy comparison.
I feel like Joe judges going in a good situation.
And we look at Joe Judge.
He doesn't have toe win now like he doesn't have to be in a wind now.
Kind of like what Chemist A fancy is in Cleveland.
He has to perform well in Cleveland.
It is also kind of parlaying on Baker.
Whenever we talk about the Cleveland Browns will go boy detail on who has Who has more pressure there.
But, hey, we're back toe Joe Judge.
He doesn't have to win now for the Giants.
Like if anything, Giants fans hoped that they could win finalist Exchange this season.
That might be a success.
Just so hopefully you know, I stayed in before.
The main thing that Joe judge has to do is you just asked him, develop Daniel Jones, where hopefully he doesn't fumble.
The ball up comes on when we look at Daniel Jones.
He looked good last year, especially when people doubted him picking up number six.
He did OK, but the only downside for Daniel Jones is.
It seemed like he fumbled the ball a lot and kind of made costing turnovers.
But that's what a rookie does.
You know, you make rookie mistakes and you learn from it.
And hopefully going into Year two.
Well, thank Daniel Jones will not make those mistakes.
And hopefully, Joan Judge and Jason Garrett will.
We'll do that. Better things.
I won't say great things, but I will save better things.
And speaking of your five or six ways, we'll start with record.
I have been going five and 11.
I've got them taken third place in the NFC East.
Some of the key of one of my It's my surprise some people is.
I have them beating the Cincinnati Bengals.
There's always a team and everyone in every NFL team scheduled.
That just is a fluke game.
And I see that being one for the Bangles and the Bangles.
Do you have a young offense? They have.
They have their have Joe Borough Now.
The only answer to that offense now for the Bangles, is an offense of line.
They have been unfair and and unproven tie then, but they now have more weapons for Joe girl.
Ah, backfield with Joe Mixon.
What? I have the Giants upsetting them.
But I have and I have the Giants going five and 11.
Would you haven't going.
I have the gold.
Worse, I have them going 11 and 15.
And the reason why I have been going one in 15 is just because the defense that they have to go against No, hopefully I'm wrong.
Hopefully, they kind of go when you said Sam about, like five or so lives.
But we look at the defense that they play.
This is the defense that they have to play in the 1st 5 weeks.
They have to play the Steelers defense, which ever something treated for me come.
Fitzpatrick turned it around.
I think they could be a top 10 unit.
They Then next week I have to go up against the Chicago Bears defense and them adding, having Robert Quinn in the off season with Khalil Mack broke on Smith.
That's gonna be a tough defense that they got to go up against.
And then the next week they plan host of the San Francisco 40 Niners, where even though they traded to force Buckner they still got Nick Bolson.
Still got Dee Ford still don't want Alexander.
All of that defense has got to be tough.
And then on October 4, they then got a burst The l A Rams at the new sofa.
I stand and you still gotta worry about Arab Donald and Jalen Ramsey.
Then they got a verse, the Dallas Cowboys twice and we know we know the Dallas Cowboys.
What they got on their defense.
The Marcus Morris Jaylin Smith Blatant Banda Reche.
I mean, they just have tough defense is that they have to go up against at, You know what, the rookie head coach in the second year quarterback.
I just don't see them, don't see them doing well.
Hopefully, they prove me wrong because if they do, then you know that's great for them.
You know, they they proved that when I thought they were gonna be, But I have them going one and it It's a bold one that's pulled definitely bold.
Let's let's go into some offensive and M v p up a start off with mind.
This is an obvious decision.
My offensive MPP is gonna be sake.
One Barkley SE se qua Barkley.
He he is the offense, like I mean, we look it.
It's kind of like the same situation with Chris McCaffrey and Carolina sake.
One, he is the office way whenever he goes, is where the Giants are gonna go.
If safe bomb Barkley is hurt, then their offense is gonna be stacked.
Three struggles is gonna be stacked.
But if he does well, like I hope he does, then their offense is gonna hopefully hopefully keep on getting better.
What about you, Sam? You have your officer that? Yeah.
Mine's also a given its take on Barkley, I think.
Barkley is the second.
I think you could even argue him being the best running back in the league.
And Dominic Fox, Dominic Fox Worth brought a great point a few weeks ago.
I think it was like, Get up.
Um, Major, if you draft a guy in the top two future after running back in the top 10 Christian McCaffrey.
Dalvin, cook and stay calm.
Barkley Well over the majority of their offense, if you draft the guy if he drafted a running back in the top 10 like Dominic Fox were said, why are you not paying him? And this is I have a question for you mean running backs have shelf life.
And this is something that I've thought about two.
Um, teams don't like to pay running backs.
Christian McCaffrey is really setting the bar high for running backs.
Do you think? Look at next year's class of running backs for free Asians.
You have Leonard for not Nick Shop.
Jamal Williams was Derrick Henry until he signed his extension.
Do you see? Do you see, like, this generation of running backs, air like that class? Do you see that then changing like the shelf life Word of running backs, like, Do you think teams will start Teoh Fork over their money for running backs? I mean, the Cat Creek, Cook and Barkley are all well over the majority of their team's offense.
I think I think it's a whole depending on where they get drafted.
You look at stake one.
I believe he was the number two overall pick, so I mean right was in number two overall pick in 2018.
Yep, right when when? When you drafted number two.
It's kind of honest.
They will have to pay.
And then we'll go with an When the Cowboys drafted a Zico L A.
He was the number four overall pick.
You're gonna sign the number four overall pick.
I think it all depends on where they get drafted.
Like if they drafted running back in the top five, they're gonna have to pay him top top dollar.
And then he even top 10 like Christian McCaffrey.
I believe he was the eighth pick, but Cameron penance And they also gonna perform to like you could be in topic.
But if you don't perform like a topic and you're a running back, they make any easily replace you.
You just like that.
Now there is one of running back.
I hope we'll get paid and I believe we'll get paid.
I believe the Green Bay Packers will will pay Aaron Jones like I feel like if they had to choose between between Jamal Williams or Aaron Jones, it will be Aaron Jones because, especially now that he started to break break out like I've never before.
Aaron Jones is 19 touchdown season.
I've never seen anything like like this before, so, you know, I feel like If a running back is good enough and they have the stats to back it up, they will get paid.
But if they don't have the stats, then they won't get paid and fork out a lot. Money.
Yeah, that's an interesting situation for the Packers.
Just because if you look at um, Jamal Williams, like, go on his Twitter, his trader Luke Neil Jamal was lost £5.
I mean, £5 might not be a lot, because if you lose, come from someone who is a part of the lifter.
If you lose like so much weight at a time and a short amount of time, that significantly affects your strength.
So, I mean, if you look at his videos, Luke Neil was even saying, I mean, I actually had him on my podcast yesterday.
Judy Christensen from Packer Report game on Wisconsin.
He interviewed Jamal Williams and Luke Neil and he said, They're Luke.
Neil said in his article that Jamal Williams was working on his conditioning and also improving on his rock running skills.
Jamaal Williams, one of the most effective, are receiving backs in the NFL so well, the Packers pay Aaron Jones.
I don't know like I'm fine with paying Air Jones.
But if that causes us to lose either David Bachtiar or Kenny Clarke, I will complain.
Um, but back to the Giants, Sekou embargo is their workhorse running back.
And, like the Taliban cook situation of him holding out and basically like the Christian McCaffrey's situation or hit him setting the bar high for running backs, I don't think the Giants air.
They're not gonna have a choice.
They're gonna have to pay Barclay.
Barclay is well over 50% of their offense.
Yeah, Dad, definitely for sure.
Say Clint Barkley makes makes everything go.
What about the New York Giants defense vending? Who do you have as the defense of M.
V P? I've got Leonard Williams.
I think Leonard Williams comes in.
It makes it impact on that young, unproven off they were.
One of the worst defense is in the NFL. They were.
They were well below, well below average.
And I see Leonard Williams coming in and making it impact, hopefully some sort of leadership impact, because the Giants don't really have a guy as of right now that it's kind of in that role, what do you think? Yeah, I agree with Heroes Law, Leonard Williams convene their their defense of NDP and it will be convention because when when Leonard one was with the Jets, he didn't make a problem.
2016 when he had seven set, said no.
He did get placed on a franchise tag worth $16.
And, you know, I thought he could have a breakout year where he comes into a contract year.
And, you know, maybe he goes out there and proves his worth and proves proves like, Hey, you know I deserve to be.
You know, this kind of money.
And hopefully he could even improve on the Giants defense, which God needs almost anything.
So if anything, if he does good, it just helps their defense even better.
That's so the last one is most improved.
I'll let you start with this on that most improved player.
I got that boy, Danny dies.
I feel I feel like Daniel Jones is going to be the most improved player on the New York Giants and the reason being is because I mean, we look at he.
He definitely surprised a lot of people Last year.
I mean, he basically said Eli Manning into retirement time.
And basically, just so just also, some of you guys know, uh and I just first, I think the only thing Daniel Jones has to work on is just holding on the ball.
I mean, we look at Daniel Jones didn't and everything else okay, you know, he was picked sixth overall, so he definitely has, like, that kind of pressure.
I mean, even Max Kellerman said, Like when he first contracting, He said he better **** well be a Hall of Famer.
So he he's already got.
He's already has that like he has to be.
He has to be something special for for that to work.
And you know, he's He's definitely got got, like, a big shot and overcome, especially what Eli Manning meant to the New York Giants.
You know, a level of consistency.
He was pretty much the Iron Man almost his entire career and led the Giants to two Super Bowls had had probably some of the greatest postseason runs in NFL history.
You know, in 2007 in 2011 beating, beating great QB's like Bret Farve and Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady twice.
You know, he went on, you went on a great run.
So we look at Daniel Jones.
He's got He's definitely got some very expectations to fill plan.
You know? I just think he's gonna improve from year one to year two.
It may not show in the week total, even though I have going 1 15 but I definitely expect to see an improvement from Daniel Jones.
Maybe less. Sternal.
What about you? Yeah, I agree.
I've got Daniel Jones as well.
And I was going through this a while ago with a few people, friends, family with about sleeper quarterbacks.
I know a lot of people are gonna put Drew Lock, which I think is rightfully so.
I picked bigger Mayfield, but I think Daniel Jones is another good one.
I think they addressed one of their biggest needs on the offensive side of the ball, knows protecting their quarterback.
And like like I said before Isaiah Simmons, you couldn't.
It's a guy you could have gone wrong wrong with.
He was a guy that would have made an immediate impact.
The quarterbacks are hard to combine if you truly think if they truly think that Daniel Jones is there Answer.
You need to do everything you can to protect them.
They drafted three offense of line three guys that we went through injured Thomas.
Shame, love you and Ben Pierre.
And I think Daniel Jones will continue to get better with, hopefully better protection.
Yeah, so hopefully he'll go improve his game as well, especially with the big protection drafts that he got, especially getting three linemen.
Let's move on to the next team that we will discuss.
It will be the new and improved no longer the Washington Redskins there now the Washington football team.
Let's give a round of applause to Washington already.
The main thing that the Redskins did, let's talk about their drab.
Probably one of the best edge rushers in the draft with the number two overall pick.
They jumped in Ohio State edge rusher Chase Young.
What are your thoughts of the Redskins going after Chase Young? Even though during the draft there were some rumors that hey, maybe they might go in and trade for two, uh, tell by a lot in the draft.
But they were smart and went with Chase.
Yo, how could I live do you believe that will be for the Washington football team? They took not only the best player available, but they took the not one of the best addresses in the draft.
They took the best player in the draft.
Joe Borough might have been job.
Er was a top five player in the draft.
Chase Young was the best player in that draft.
And this isn't this is a defense that is up and coming.
I mean, yeah, they have Thomas Davis, but this is young, often common.
Monta sweat on the other side of the ball.
Vermont s one on one side, Chase Young on the other.
And this is my bold prediction.
Chase Young will be better than **** Bosa Wu.
That that is that.
That is definitely a good, bold, bold prediction there eso some other picks that they didn't make the Washington rent, not Redskins.
The Washington football team made with the third round They drafted a receiver, Antonio Gibson.
They also drafted a L S U tackle Shafiq charters and then another receiver and an unequal golden.
So I just want to start off by saying, How big of an impact do you believe the rest of those players will make for the Washington football team.
Well, I think, Terry, I mean, this might be I'll just say mine right away, I think.
Turn McLaren's Meyer.
He's my office of EVP.
I think he's in her breakout year.
They don't have Calvin Harmon.
I think Calvin Harmon was in for a really impressive year.
He he would have been my most improved player if he had it tore his A c l.
But I think we're going to Seymour of Antonio Gandhi Golden.
We might see a little bit of Antonio Gibson in the backfield because he he's a guy that can be used in a variety of ways.
In that offense, I mean, Antonio Gandhi goal.
That is another big guy that the Redskins need for weapons and, hopefully, who knows what their quarterback situation and we have.
Kyle Allen, who the the Redskins traded 1/5 round pick for they brought in from the Panthers, Dwayne Haskins, is see their answer that I know there's some maturity issues in that room in that quarterback room that they're dealing with, and Alex Smith just that clear today.
I do think we Seymour of I could see.
I think more of Antonio Gandhi golden and people think Big body receiver.
Not overly fast.
So not overly impressive.
He's not the most Chris brought runner, so he's a guy that needs grooming.
And Tony of Gibson's A guy that's he's gonna be a lot of fun because he's a guy that can be used in a variety of different ways in that backfield and in the receiving game.
What do you think? Yeah, I definitely agree as well.
And I mean, we look at, I think, the right the Washington football teams made receiver is the Ohio State receiver tearing McLaurin And I mean, we look at Antonio Gibson and another Antonio Gandhi golden.
I feel like they can make immediate impacts for with the white and receiver positions.
And and I got like, how you said it's gonna be an interesting quarterback room because it is commission quarterback, where we look at Kyle Island.
He showed some bright flashing with the Panthers.
Then he shows some not so bright flashes as well.
Look at Dwayne Haskins.
He was drafted number 15 by the Redskins last year, kind of threw in the fire when they played the Giants.
I think he definitely wasn't prepared for that.
Did OK his rookie year.
And then now Alex Smith being cleared to play.
I feel like changes, everything.
I mean, we looking before and that he hears the key.
Before Alex Smith suffered his injury, he had he had probably was up based on the best seasons of his career, and he had the Washington Redskins at a six and three record leading the division.
And then he suffered one of the worst entries by quarterback and they Redskin.
The Washington football team has been the same since they finished that season from six and 3 to 79 and then they finished at three and 13.
So this isn't gonna be an easy, easy win for Dwayne Haskins.
I thought between Haskins, he's gonna have to perform, because if he slips, they haven't easy.
Veteran guy now expect that they could go in just a You know what, doing Caspian's well, we understand you play your first year.
We don't like what we saw. You didn't.
Why was that camp where it's gonna let you sit there? Year watch Alex Smith and let's just see what happens.
And Alex Smith has been in the same situation before.
When he was with the 40 Niners, you know, he played great and then some guy name calling company came along when out, Smith got hurt.
Colin Company went in, played well, and eventually Alan Smith got shipped off to Kansas City a couple years again.
Then they drafted some guy named Patch Mahomes.
What do they just like? You know what we'll, that catch my home sent this season, said his first year on the talisman.
Do what he does best and out.
Smith does what he knows best.
Leaves the Chiefs to another division win, and they let Beholds play Week 17.
And then the Chiefs have the 2123 collapse when they versus Wade.
When the first fancy times.
And there and then Chiefs like you know what we like.
What we see out of better Homes were gonna trade you to the Washington Redskins, the Redskins at the time and what happens with holes in the Chiefs.
Two years later, they won the Super Bowl and then kind of the same situation with Alex Smith, first year with the Redskins doing Alex Smith type stuff does well, doesn't really turn them all over a lot, but doesn't force any big place.
That's why they call him check down Smith doing what he does best.
They went six and three, and hopefully he can do the same thing with with the Washington football team.
Yeah, I really didn't think Alex Smith was gonna play again.
I mean, yeah, he got cleared for full football activity.
Um, I might be wrong on this.
I haven't heard anything.
Has he spoken to the media at all? I would imagine he hasn't said anything yet, so I mean, yeah, that's amazing.
That's awesome for him.
I hope he plays, But for the sake of his future, for his future post retirement, it wouldn't surprise me if he decides to retire.
Um, I mean, after seeing that crazy injury, the months of rehab that he had to go through, I I don't know.
I don't I almost want to stand by my statement saying that he might not play again, which which sucks.
But I think it's possible.
I I hope if he plays, I hope that would be awesome.
But that that quarterback was gonna be a very interesting one to watch for the Redskins.
And if I'm doing asking, I would take notes on everything on Smith does.
Because Alan Smith he is He is great at doing what he does best.
I mean, I mean, we looking calling company when he had when he had that 23 year stretch where he led the Niners toe the Super Bowl in the Anderson Championship Game.
He used on top of his game, and he got to learn from Alex Smith and Jim Harbaugh.
Go is a good coach at the time.
And when, when Patrick Mahomes got to learn from injury, some people give give homes a lot of credit for doing well, but without Alan Smith there, Andy Reid in that locker room, we don't know what that homes can be.
So, you know, doing half skins for were you? I would take notes on what I once went does because it seems like wherever out Smith goes, the quarterback study mentioned replace him, do great days.
So hopefully hoping that happens with Dwayne Haskins.
And who knows, maybe, maybe if the Redskins don't have it good here.
Maybe they do bad enough.
Maybe they can just be like, you know what? Let's just draft Trevor Lawrence or listen draft Justin Fields that selection self.
It will be interesting to see what kind of happens there and kind of what you said about Alex Smith.
I'm not playing and I think he will, Uh, when I when I will say, though, is I feeling Alex Smith is gonna play out the rest of his contract? Then he retired because, I mean, let's not forget he did sign a four year.
I believe them with $71 million dollars with with the Washington football team.
Then the first year had his injury.
Second year didn't play at all.
So he's entering the third year of his four year contract.
So it could be a situation where maybe he says, You know what? I was gonna go in two more years with the Redskins or now the Washington football team, and then I was gonna retire, make my money and go live a good life.
Yeah, that that's an interesting one.
And I'm praying for Alex Smith.
Hopefully he plays, who knows? I mean, if he plays two years locked in his time track would make sense.
He's He's got an interesting story.
He's got a awesome recovery story, but it will be interesting to watch.
So one of the key free agents that they signed Waas they lost Josh Norman to the Bills and they brought in Ronald Darby.
Ah, a guy who hasn't really done a whole lot in the past few years.
How do you see who? How do you see his impact on the defense? I see.
I see bigoted impacts.
I mean, we look at what happened.
They did release Josh Norman and kind of scent of the bill.
I feel like they have no choice.
I mean, we look at.
Ever since Josh Norman signed his deal with the Redskins, he never really We perform to that deal because, I mean, then people forget when Josh Norman and his final year with the Carolina Panthers, he was one of the best corners of football.
Like when, when the Washington Redskins, when the Washington Redskins at the time signed Josh Norman, they were extending.
Hey, this guy, he's gonna be the best corner in football.
He's gonna help our team right away.
And, you know, he didn't really live up to that standard.
He he got pretty much burnt to a crisp, Uh, hopefully Ronald Army.
He signed with one year, $3 million deal.
Maybe there, maybe the chief contract that he has.
Maybe he could over perform that contract.
I want to point out other free, just signings at that.
They signed the X Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Peyton Barber, a two year, $3 million deal.
And then, ah, then a former Panthers and Chargers linebacker Thomas Davis signed a one year, 3.
5 $1,000,000 deal.
And then I also want to point out one last free agent signing that they did.
Ah, big one was Kendall Fuller.
He returns back to the Redskins four years, $40 million.
He was the main guy with a train away to get Alex Smith in the first place, and now that they're able to bring him back four years, $40 million out of all those free agents free agent signings, who do you believe Sam will make the biggest impact? I think it's Kendall Fuller.
I mean, Ronald Darby hasn't really done much in the past two years, and, like you said, he's on a friendly contract.
I think he's on.
I think this could be, hopefully be his year where he proves to to use that he that he is still the talented cornerback that he is.
But I think uniform explore mint, in fact, and that is that running back room is so talented.
You have Adrian Peterson, who has then one of, if not the best running back of this era.
And then you have dairies, guys who suffered injuries.
He's just don't injuries.
Ever since he's gotten to the NFL, he was one of my favorite running backs coming into the draft in the draft class.
Then you have Peyton Barber, who? I to me.
I just think that's a depth situation, Um, and that that's an interesting running back room, so I mean, that'll be I'm I almost feel like it's going to be a running back by committee or Adrian Peters.
It will split with, um, either guys or, um Barber on and probably hopefully see a little bit of Antonio Gibson in the backfield.
Yeah, it'll definitely intrigued to see what happens there in the end up running back room.
Especially like and my big Adrian Peterson has kind of resurrected himself a little bit like he's not the same play he once was when he's with the Minnesota Vikings, by any means.
But it's kind of good to see Adrian Pearson.
It's still still going at it.
Same with the Frank Gore like it's still good to see, like those old running backs, kind of proven proving Doubters wrong.
Like Like, you know, the main saying goes is when a running back kids 30 their play falls off.
But Adrian Pearson and Frank or they've they've kind of turned that on its head.
Uh, now you didn't make some good points with Kendall Kendall Fuller.
I believe he'll make intact, but I'm gonna go with in Thomas Davis.
Uh, the reason why I go with Thomas Davis is just because of the veteran impact that he makes, and we're gonna discuss that they don't as well.
But the Washington football teams new head coach Ron Rivera, they Thomas Davis and Ron over world with each other with the Carolina Panthers.
And, you know, I like Thomas Davis is going into a good place.
You know when? When he signed that one year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers, he didn't really seem to fit in like it kind of wasn't the same Thomas Davis that were used to see.
Now that Thomas Davis gets to be with Ron Rivera, I feel like we could possibly see a little bit of old Thomas Davis like be that veteran guy in the locker to help out young guys like Monta Sweater, Chase Young become even better talents.
Yeah, and I think that was a big it.
I think that was a majority of the reason why they signed Thomas Davis is because they needed a veteran leader, a mentor for that young up and coming defense.
And I think Thomas Davis defect that he has that relationship with Ron Rivera.
Ron Rivera, who has had who has been a part of a winning culture.
He took the Panthers to the Super Bowl.
Um, and so robber knows what it's like to win, and he has pieces of he has pieces for that Washington football to you to build off of.
Yeah, he definitely does.
And let the let's move on in one of their big, big things in the Aussies of Besides change, the team name was Washington football team hiring now head coach Ron Rivera.
Lett's kind of get into it.
How much? How great of the hiring was this or the Washington football team and their direction in the future? I think Ron Rivera, I mean, he I think he deserved to be fired.
But I think he's going into a really interesting situation because there's there's a lot of talent on defense.
There's a lot of potential on that defense, and there's you have a quarterback room who? I mean, we don't know what's going on.
We have three quarterbacks.
They don't know who the Q B one is.
I think Ron Rivera is going into an interesting situation.
Hopefully, twin Haskins.
I think Dwayne Haskins could be their answer.
But I think we have to see more of him, um for me to say that, but what do you think of it? I think I think it was a great move by the Washington football team.
I feeling I could get one of the things that they that they did right in the off season was getting the head coach.
My being in mind being the key than keys toe every NFL team.
You may have all the time.
How in the world.
But you gotta have the coach that could make it right.
And that's why mind in Cleveland didn't work was they had all the talent.
They just didn't have the right coach leading the way.
I feel, I think, the Washington football team.
They have the right coach and Ron McNair, who essentially, he didn't leave the Carolina Panthers to the Super Bowl and turned them into into into inconsistent playoff team for a couple of years, you know? And obviously, you know, I I felt Ron Rivera was kind of a little bit sliding in Carolina.
I feel like he should have finished out the season just because of what he did for franchise.
But you gotta also admit, like the Carolina Panthers were moving in a different direction at the time.
So it was only fitting that they moved on from him.
And, you know, I feel like he's going to go in tow the Washington football team with a new fresh face, a new Q B.
I mean, we saw what he was able to do with Cam Newton.
He was able to turn camera into an MPP.
So, you know, hopefully with whoever quarterback it is.
Whether it's Dwayne Haskins around Smith, Hopefully he can turn those guys in tow N v p caliber candidates.
And hopefully he can turn the watchman football team into a respectable franchise.
Yeah, and I I I don't I don't see this happening with run over at all.
But Steve well, looks to me like this is always a coached.
I mean, Steve Wilks was set up for failure.
I do not like the idea of firing coaches after one year because you cannot determine you cannot great a coach after only one year.
So I think even the mad even mad at the floor I mean, I think I think runner variable take it.
Least I think you could go at least 3 to 4 seasons.
Um, before you can actually judge how Ron Rivera is doing in Washington.
I grew also what you said about Steve will.
I don't think Wilkes was given a chance at all 16 in Arizona.
I'm feeling when Arizona was struggling and they saw that Conrad Murray was go in the NFL.
And, you know, they also saw Cliff Kingsbury as well.
I feel like they just simply just combine the two.
And just like you know what Josh Rosen Wilkes did.
You can get on out of here, will go with, aren't you? And when we look at Steve Welty, he's a respectable, respectable kind, kind of guy.
Hopefully, he can do great things.
And hopefully he can get a second chance because because I feel like I like what you said he wasn't he wasn't given a fair chance at all.
And and I definitely agree with what you say.
You you can't judge a coach after its first year would be the same thing.
Like if Matt Loeffler struggle with the Packers in the first year.
We can't really be upset because it's his first year.
Like what? What? You expected the Packers to make the playoffs anyways, So I did.
I just didn't think we'd make it three NFC champion games.
I thought we pulled one of the good old Green Bay Packer ways, make the playoffs and then defence underperforming.
There are a lot of critics saying that we were taken one second or third place, not even making the playoffs.
And, oh, yeah, there.
Then there are a lot of Doubters saying that if Rodgers doesn't make the blasted affect his legacy, But he proved all those Doubters wrong over and we could do it again.
So moving on to the record onto the team predictions, Um, so unless you start with this one, uh, for the Washington football team, I have them going three and 13.
But I do see the makings improvements throughout the season.
Now, some of the winds that I do have them.
I do have them beating the Giants.
I do, other being the Panthers.
But I do have the winning one trap game.
I do have them being the Seattle Seahawks.
I feel like they kind of like what you said earlier.
There's always that one game that's you expect, challenging the wind, and they just don't happen.
I feel that's gonna be with the Redskins and the Seahawks.
I feel like the Seahawks are easily expected to win this game, but the Redskins find a way to say, Hey, what? You were going to turn things around and win.
And, you know, I kind of want to leave.
Leave my Redskins prediction.
Are washing football team up in the air because we don't really know who's gonna be the start? You know, at first we were, it was all projected to be doing happens because we didn't think out. Smith whatever.
Play for Morgan.
But now that he's cleared to play, if inside Alex Smith starting instead of the weight Askins.
It could be a different ball game for the Washington football team during the season.
But as of right now, I have been going three and 13.
What about yourself? I've got I'm going for 12.
So, like the Giants beating the Bengals, um, I've got them beating the Panthers and the Panthers have Teddy Bridgewater.
I think we have got to see if he is the Panthers long term answer.
But the Panthers finally have weapons.
They finally have a quarterback.
Hopefully, I mean that they have a quarterback that can win you games.
We've seen him do it in New Orleans, and he has deejay more curves.
Samuel Nam, Robby Anderson, Christian McCaffrey.
But I see that I see this being an upset.
I see the Redskins beating them.
However, I still see them losing.
I see them being one of the worst teams in the division.
Um, and a top five pick draft next year.
Um, hopefully that's Jamaar Chase, because that would be unbelievable.
But I've got for 12.
That would be an unbelievable situation.
That would be amazing.
Terry McLaurin and Jim Arches.
That that would be that is scary.
That scary duo, um, for the next, for, like a future scary do over the future.
And yes, yeah, definitely a good scary do in the future.
I also want to kind of go back what you said about Teddy Bridgewater.
He also think good of Minnesota.
Let's not forget before, Before his freak leg leg injury, Teddy Bridgewater seemed to be taking the reins of Minnesota.
I mean, you look at he won the division in 2015 which at that time Green Bay was running away with that doing like we have pretty much a stranglehold on the division from 2010 like 2016.
We pretty much have that on a stranglehold, like it was pretty much factory first everyone else, and then tell you Bridgewater came along.
It was like, not so fast.
Take that division from our hands in 2015.
Obviously, that year was known for player Walser downfall, where he completely shaped a 27 yard kick, which is always, always makes my day happy.
UH, doesn't make any kickers days happy when in a sprinter, the laces Warner out, they were facing towards him.
But, you know, it's one of those where and Teddy Bridgewater can find success like he did in New Orleans like it did in Minnesota.
I feel like he could be there long term replacement.
I mean, we look at math mat rule has has some work to do and Carolina being a first time head coach.
And I mean, we look it.
And it's all gonna be about Joe Brady.
In my opinion, I mean, we saw Joe Brady the success young into Woman's with that offense, The Mount success.
He had a l s u basically turning Joe Burrow into a number one overall pick.
I mean, people had no idea who job Jarawas like.
People were projecting Job Girl to be like some in before round quarterback.
It was basically to look gonna be number one and then lo behold one season in Joe Borough has one of the greatest seasons ever by a collectible quarterback, and he is a number one pick.
And Joe Greedy goes Carolina so over using to see what what happens there whenever we discuss the Panthers will be very interesting.
So for offense of NDP, aided by the way I think Joe Brady through your contract for the O.
For the Panthers, I think he could land a head coaching job after that.
The dude is an absolute mastermind, but that NFC self what we will start covering next week.
That is gonna be a very fun division to break down.
But for offense of M V p for the Red Sea.
As I said this earlier, I've got terrible Lorne.
I mean, they lost Calvin Harmon for the season.
Um, they've got unproven talent in that wide receiver, that there's so many positions on that Redskins tear on the Washington football team.
That's just in question.
I mean, the quarterback, one is obviously the biggest one, but outside of Terry MacLaurin, someone's got to step up.
But Terry McLaurin to me I think he's gonna break out what you got? Yeah, I do these while I believe it's gonna be in Terry McLaurin.
I mean, what what he did last year he made he made a good impact of the other receiving corps.
He definitely proved himself to be the number one receiver for the Washington football team, and I think he's gonna do it again.
Just because the simple fact who will see your target there really isn't anyone else on the Washington football team to target besides tearing the car.
So you know, I believe he's gonna bounce in and do what he does best.
Uh, now let's let's discuss ah, defense of M v P.
I already got mine.
I'm gonna go with, in my view, who's gonna be the defensive rookie of the Year? Chase Young.
I feel I feel like Chase Young.
He's gonna make an immediate impact on that defense.
And a lot of people were saying that Chase Young is gonna be the best edge rusher out of Ohio State in the draft period.
Better than Nick boasts of better than Joey Bosa.
Had those two players set, sent some pretty high standards like they are both really good for the respective teams.
I mean, looking Joey Bosa in the Los Angeles charge like you live them to the playoffs in 2018 and had a pretty good defense and then Nick both of his rookie year.
You basically basically changed the 40 Niners.
So the best defense in football and led them to the Super Bowl and were essentially six minutes away from the championship before Patrick Mahomes turned into Pat Mahomes.
Yeah, if you If you take big Bosa out of that defense, the diners don't pick the Super Bowl.
And Costa had an unbelievable, a very impressive rookie season.
However, I'm standing by my bold statement saying Chase Young is more athletic.
I mean, Nick Bosa to meet.
I mean, I think Nick Bosa is has better technique, right? As of right now than chase Young.
But she's young, is an athletic freak.
I have chased Young is my defense of M V P.
I think he comes in and makes an immediate impact.
Yeah, definitely makes any, especially with him being the number two overall.
Pick mine pain for him in Southern defensive rookie of the year of bust.
You know he's got It's gotta be something that he has to do well.
And in my opinion, I wouldn't be surprised if Chase Young gets gives at least close to a 10 sack mark.
That's a great talent, I believe.
And then let's close out today. Stream.
Let's go with the most improved player on the Washington football team, Sam.
Who do you believe will be that most improved player here in the Washington football team? Well, my mind was gonna be Calvin Harmon before it tore his a c L.
But I've met two of, um um I wanted to go with Kendall Fuller.
Um, but I'm gonna take a wild card pick and I'm gonna see Montas sweat.
I mean, Monta sweating Chase Young.
That very well could be a slept on edge Russian duel in the NFL.
And that is an up and coming defense chase.
Yeah, I mean that he's got Thomas Davis as obviously we're not the same position, but I He is Thomas Davis for a veteran leadership on that defense, and he has just years chasing hug, who is unbelievable talent.
One of the most athletic players on that starting defense, but I've got Montana swept, making it every packed.
I mean, we all know how good Chase Young is, and months has swept film draft because of his because of health issues.
But don't overlook his talent because he is unbelievably town said so I've got months.
That's what being most improved about you.
Well, I he actually took the words out of my mouth.
I was gonna have a bunch of sweat as well.
I thought he's gonna be that underrated kind of edge rusher because, I mean, we gotta think for the Washington football team, most people are gonna take it.
It's basically the Chase Young show, but I want to say not too fast.
A mantra s what I feel like.
If mantra sweat could do well may now, I don't think it will be right away.
But maybe in a couple of years from now, maybe the mantra sweat chase young duo can be kind of like what the Chargers have with Melvin, Ingram and Joey, both of just two dominant edge rushers on each side, causing quarterback havoc throughout the league.
And, yeah, I have mantra sweat my most improved player on my offensive player of the year in terror.
McLaren In my defense of M v p and Chase Young, we got Sam.
He has pretty much the same thing as I do.
L scott term McLaurin chase young mantra sweat.
And we wanna thank you guys for tuning into the stream.
We appreciate it.
And you don't want to shout out at Lizbeth 99 again for the $10 tip.
We appreciate it.
And thank you guys for tuning in any last words.
Thanks for coming on.
And everyone Thanks for the tip.
Um and yeah, we'll see you next week.
We're gonna break down the NFC South so that it's gonna be a very fun one.
Lots of stuff happened.
Probably probably the busiest autopsies and our busiest vision in the off season.
So lots to talk about next week? Yeah.
I definitely lost the title next week.
Thank you, guys.
