So Anthony Davis, on a podcast with Sarah Spain of ESPN, called That's what she said had this comment about winning a championship, he said, I don't think I have a failure that I've had yet, obviously the end of my career.
If I don't win a championship, that would be I would feel that's one of my biggest failures.
But Right now, I still have a lot to do in this world on and off the court, so I don't feel like I've failed anything.
I think I just continue to do it over until I succeed at it.
Now that should be music to the ears of Lakers fans that Anthony Davis considers a championship a key part of his legacy, a key part of his career that when all is said and done, he will consider it one of his biggest failures if he doesn't win a championship.
You look at the New Orleans Pelicans teams than Anthony Davis has had over the years.
Those teams have not been title contenders.
They have not had an opportunity to provide him with an N b A championship.
We know what his goal is at this point.
Look, A D is very much aware of any NBA superstars that go their entire careers and don't win a title.
Think about guys like Karl Malone, guys like Charles Barkley.
The first thing that said about them, Yes, they were a great player, but they never won that title.
Davis is very aware of what winning a championship means and can you imagine Davis winning a championship in Los Angeles for the Lakers.
What that would mean.
That is a whole another level of legacy.
Important to note.
Now, look, Anthony Davis now is teaming up on a Lakers team with LeBron James.
Know the Lakers didn't land Kawai Leonard.
That's certainly regrettable.
But you look at what the Lakers have provided Anthony Davis with on Anthony Davis that they want to stay long term.
A guy who's going to be a free agent in 2020 and they'd like to keep him around.
He's only 26 years old.
They want to keep him for the for the remainder of his career.
They wanna hang his jersey in the rafters when all said and done, and the Lakers want to prove to him that he could win championships with with L A and you.
Look, they've got LeBron James, who is arguably still the best player in the league, side by side with a D.
Who is a guy who looked he's never really tapped his full potential.
He's been in this tiny market in New Orleans.
He's never had a great team around him.
Yes, they've made a few runs here and there, but nothing like what he could potentially do with the Lakers this season.
Look, if a D is going to make an M V P run and the talent is there, that's the key.
It's not that it's just Anthony Davis could be on a good team.
He has the talent to legitimately be the best player in the league.
And if he's going to do that, it could happen this season alongside LeBron James, who is the best player, No doubt that he has ever played with and you could say the same. Vice versa.
I would even put Anthony Davis in his prime up against Dwayne Wade that LeBron went teamed up with the Miami Heat, and I think that you've got to give the non 80.
So you've got both guys playing with players that should complement them.
And now the Lakers have surrounded them with a heck of a team.
They've got all kinds of shooting.
You've got guys like Quinn Cook, Danny Green and then that X factor coming in.
DeMarcus Cousins, the guy who Anthony Davis loves who he loved playing alongside with the New Orleans Pelicans, joining the Los Angeles Lakers to play with Anthony Davis, in part because A D is there.
We also heard the 80 was recruiting Quinn Cook.
These are all important things.
This means this is an Anthony Davis that has bought in to winning in Los Angeles.
Great sign for the Lakers.
Moving forward now? Yes, look, LeBron James.
He's probably at the tail end of his career.
How many more good years does he have left? Well, he's kind of a freak in nature, but it's something that Anthony Davis will have to consider.
And it's gonna be up to the Lakers to prove to him that it's not just about this season, but the Lakers can set him up to win even in the future.
Because again, Anthony Davis, with this quote, is showing that he understands just how important it is that he not finish his career without winning any championships.
And the Lakers have now put him in a situation where he could potentially win one as early as this next season.
Gonna be exciting.
I'm thrilled to see Anthony Davis and LeBron James flying up and down the floor at the Staples Center, going to be amazing, amazing stuff, especially if the Marcus cousins can get back the level that he was once that if Danny Green keeps flashing in threes.
I just did a video on him to hit yesterday.
If Alex Caruso can shoot even close to the way he shot last season, he's gonna be an asset.
This should be a really, really exciting and fun Lakersseason full of some great basketball.
Can't wait to get it started For more on this story on Anthony Davis and everything else going on in the world of the Los Angeles Lakers, make sure he had over two.
