Thanks for having me excited up and watching these.
So I have you asked me to get on your one of five people that have been watching them.
No, I'm kidding you.
And that's, you know, maybe like me.
And, like, one of my friends, we'll get some people going, man.
Um, so I guess this is got a twofold, you know, welcome to the league.
First and foremost, you know, and then welcome to the show as well.
And he had a birthday on Monday.
Is this a great week? Evelyn Maglis Birthday one Tuesday? Yeah, we're just where this is.
This is Rolling Man or getting it going, but no.
So how you're 27? Is that right? For seven.
What's Ah? What's been your favorite? Oh, are you just your most, um, memorable accomplishment so far in your life? I know you got a little bit of time to reflect over quarantine, but I know coming out of tough Yeah, that maybe think on this one.
Uhm, I'd say where we're at now is business.
Um, you know, life was great.
I'm I have no money.
Which some things along the way that I didn't have plans.
Um, but as a whole, I look at our scheme in what we've been able to provide jobs for.
Guys confirmed their careers, jobs for my community, working it is something different.
So my biggest achievement.
I love what we do.
I love we provide for people that I'm with, that I'm all in.
I bleed standings blue for sure.
So just a little, um, background.
The Syracuse challenges a new team and tbl, it's just they just joined this year will start playing next season.
They played us playing the A B A, Is that correct? Yes. Two seasons.
Okay, um, you know, we just talked literally, like, five seconds to go.
So not only does Syracuse Ah, the team.
They don't just provide players opportunities to further their careers, but their providing sales reps.
Ah, there providing, you know, people that are just want to get involved with sports.
You talk a little bit about helping those people out.
I never have passions.
I found ourselves, You know, our front office, you know, reaching a plateau where we weren't making enough connections.
So extremely excited to have fired five people.
One as our manager for foot sails on.
And then four new sales reps.
Um, that can really hit the ground running for us and help us fund us.
Basically, local businesses will help fund us and get some advertising in return.
I'm in that and take our potentials I rocket and having the funds to do what we need to do and make a product.
No, I think that's great.
What do you think? So I mean, you guys air a college town.
I mean, I would consider Syracuse College Town.
Do you feel like you compete a little bit with with Syracuse University or No.
Uh, yeah, Absolutely.
We, uh you're one of our season.
We did not draw.
Well, when Sarah gets played way were that we were new.
Um, you know, we were doubted from the beginning.
We manage ists, you know, embrace the hate and said they were gonna go with our product.
Victor, What we know and make this something that we want to see happen on and fans bought into it.
But going into your two week on average, Syracuse to play and we played, we had good crowd.
You do some promotions that what draws people in? We'd have kids night and owner would sponsor all the entry for the kids on.
We had multiple cell.
Awesome Syracuse plays.
We're getting there.
Um, you know the one nice thing about the TV hours that our season begins as there's a coming to an end, so you don't have to worry about that competition.
I just you know, they support this past fall, and we've had served his best ballplayers come to Artie.
So it's mutually beneficial relationship that we have.
No, I think that's great.
Um, you know, I'm not I'm not too familiar with Syracuse itself, but yeah, but I mean, n c double a 2009.
I think it they had a basketball video game.
I was maybe, like, 11 or 12 and close Syracuse all the time, you know? Are you a big Are you a big Syracuse fan yourself or No, I think it into it.
03 The year they want a title.
I mean, I grew up in a very European house.
Was it on? And I just covered basketball from my elementary coach because I was tall.
Eso That's when I really got into it.
I started following cues from both Reon and it like right away.
They won a championship, so I was like, I were the best team in the world.
You know, we will never lose your now.
So, um, throughout the years of became a season ticket holder, um, and then I got in a collegiate coaching, which interfere, Um, so I still support cues Man's womens behinds armies.
Right now to see, um Yeah.
Accuses my team.
Yeah, They took down my Mina Mackey squad yesterday and says, I'm a little upset, you know, at hurts, man, that Deven Dorff.
It's really good, Do you off? He's a tough It's a tough player.
You just we were you did an event with featuring him for, um, a staff of ah School district used to work for their custodian, diagnosed with their last.
So we did a fundraiser form and Artie got to play against former Huse players Such a given door.
Ryan Black Will their coach up behinds Army arrested, hurt and then just a bunch of staff at its role.
He was got it for sure.
He's just a competitors, man.
He's got like, that junk yard dog.
I'm gonna take you off the dribble and he took.
He took Isaac cause to the rim, and I was like, seven foot three and he's studious, huge.
I I've been to his house, this guy's to them and excusing huge! You could talk use for sure.
I couldn't imagine a person I wish I had a height man.
If I had that high, I wouldn't I wouldn't be doing this podcast share.
My ceilings would be a little bit higher.
But anyways, let's talk a little bit. Syracuse Stallion.
A little bit more.
You know what do you feel like your brand images? You know what, what value or you're bringing in the community.
You know, tbl is huge and community, you know what value you guys bring in And what's that image for you? That's where we match up perfectly with TV, their base driven.
We are the same you want.
And Coach Mack said, It's meat and I believe it was probably a month ago and I still remember this.
We're gonna become an asset to our community.
We don't want to be asked once in a while to do events.
We want to be the one they have.
Eso were always extending out branches and making relationships with companies locally that need a little extra help.
Be investing our community practice that the Boys and Girls Club we play at a downtown Syracuse I support.
We do a lot of work just helping helping raise funds, reading to kids, going to schools.
Don't any supplies were all about that.
We've been supporting those who are gonna come back and support us.
We want kids that are games you want to show them that a There's a future here in Syracuse.
N ba may not reachable if is your blessed and we want you to go.
Um, but this may be an action for you.
Um, I seen a community has brought us in great support.
Yeah, I think it's Ah, great point Had raw Blackwell on the other day, Um, and he was talking about how there's just so many great players out there and and, you know, the India is really tough toe get into, like, college basketball is going to change.
High school basket is gonna change, you know? But one thing that's never gonna change is how good you have to be to play in the n b a s o.
You know, guys that playing Tvl or are super good E I mean, they are, but and it's and it's just what it is.
And so, you know, um, I think you guys are gonna do a great job of providing opportunities for guys to come in.
Let's talk a little bit about the, you know, a little basketball talk here.
Um, what's the talent level like in Syracuse? You know Indian, Indiana.
It's near accused.
I hear Syracuse basketball is off the chain.
We've got a surplus about, um, at all levels.
Vision one through three we've got right now, kid at Cincinnati Kid at Mark that Nate night.
Just play that William and Mary.
He's actually what they're after is now getting ready for things to back up.
What RG three talents crazy? Um, every team, every local TV as a kid.
Um, it it's got an overwhelming sometimes because you want you in the past like you knew which games ago wise, because you're you're.
But you can't make it to enough because there's just so many players that are so talented and it's awesome because our guys were really supportive of them.
We go watch sectional basketball, championship basketball all the time, and they return the favor and co much. Dustin.
It's just awesome.
We're blessed in our area.
What were some of the players that are on your guys his team right now? They're gonna return for next season.
All right? Now a team.
Our team, our plan is to hold six combines.
And you know, if we find talent that passes what we have and we're gonna about.
But right now we have on Ivy.
You played in the TBL, I think.
What it was that a PV And then, um, who's with the Rochester razor? Sharps Hey, plays for us.
He averaged 20 I think 25 a half this year.
We have Jimmy Gray from Binghamton University's A guard.
He was our team MVP.
He's going off for a triple double, almost 50% of time for being six foot.
You can rebound like a big fellow.
Our starting point guard is Bernick Brothers.
He is probably 58 but his dog, he he's an animal you will take on there.
The other team's best player any time, No matter of size.
Um, got day one.
Coleman played accused whose McDonald's All American at one time in his career for high school, he's number one player in the country.
I just had some injury issues in college, and now he's really taking care of his body and getting needs to be now that the Coleman guy, he would he just get out that he got he got out of college what, five years ago? Is that right? I'd say four or five years.
Eso He's older than he's older than me.
And he graduated after be so I know how that works when high schools.
But, hey, they got it done.
I don't know his exact age, to be honest.
Well, you know, man, we don't We can talk about that on the show.
Yeah, I've known a few you guys have played in high school that maybe 22.
And I like to work a man.
You know, You chop up your birth certificate here and there change a few numbers would be good to go.
No, that's good, though.
Um, you know, let's talk about your combines a little bit.
Um, I had this later on in the show.
You know, we can We can hop into it right now, you know? So if I'm a player, I want to play for the Syracuse Stallion's, Um you know, how do I I'm registering on your website.
Am I going to your combines? Am I going to TV? Oh, combines.
What's it looking like? Eso We haven't rolled anything out.
Yeah, we have dates set that.
We end locations that would like to roll out.
What we're doing right now is very negotiations with a bunch of venues, and it's kind of up in the air with this whole virus spreading around.
A lot of schools are saying, Hey, we don't plan that far out.
I had us off going on.
We don't better look.
But what is? What we will do is we'll promote them.
We'll have a link for you to sign up on our website as well as all social media platforms.
Um, we're gonna you try out.
I'm buying that 50.
We're gonna have to in Syracuse.
Won in straight and Pennsylvania, one in Poughkeepsie, one in Rochester, one in Buffalo.
Um, and we'll go from there.
Will be attending.
Also, some buying on the East Coast.
They're hosted by the TBL.
Will be getting up. Chicago.
Um, Cleveland, we're going to anyone and yeah, no, I think those of a good man, uh, I went to the big combine last year.
Um, in Indianapolis.
That was, like, 200 players.
Just currency talent to like guys playing in Oklahoma.
Baylor, Um you know, everywhere across the country, like it was, it was incredible.
So You know, I'm think you guys are gonna find some talent.
Um, just around around the country and, you know, the guys coming from all around the world I didn't wanna, you know? What do you think you are? A couple of keys? Um, from the transition from the a b a to t b o for you guys to be successful, not business wise of it on the court wise.
Um, I would definitely say we got away with a lot of things in the a b a in regard to sigh.
Um, we went from day one.
Who was 6 10 on that are next four was probably 6465 You need that? Yeah.
Um, and that that player in between those highs needs to bring a lot toughness for us.
One of our weaknesses.
I would say throughout the years were you able to a lot of offensive rebounds simply because of this I he relied a lot on our scoring ability because we could bet it's the style of play that our coach put in place the rules of a B A.
So we fit really nicely with that.
But we just need to find that, you know, stretch for, um, that guy that come back they want.
Yeah, I think in tvl just from the games that I've seen, It's it's ah, if you can have really good guard play, Um, You know, guys, I could stretch the floor.
Um, you know, seven footers air. Great.
But, you know, it's isn't the n b a.
So, like, you know, if you have guards that can really score and really shoot, I think you're gonna be fine.
And that's that.
Sounds like something you guys have.
Um, you know, Are you looking for? Ah, for a four.
That's you just trying to stretch the floor.
You looking for an athletic guy? What are you looking for there? I need a guy that can mix it up and mix it up.
Um, but the glass I mean, I really, really need that.
We need a defensive rebounding presence.
Knows the ball's going off the room.
We're gonna grab island Goddio warehouse.
Are are you? I'm 66 Where you go? I'm retired.
My my knees are made of potatoes. Okay.
We're Nah, that we're not getting up and down you gotta do is go in there and shoot some threes to be I e.
And what? That's all I did in my career.
Island only lasted a year, Junior.
Yeah, we're good.
It's not a recipe for success, but, um anyways, man, I you know, I didn't want to talk a little bit about Ah, you know, you're teaching career.
So you taught a little bit bath right after college.
You know how it is.
How did those type of skills kind of translate into this business? Yeah.
I mean, I was lucky.
Teoh get a job right out of college.
Got in with organization.
That doesn't nonprofit work that's contracting by school districts.
And I dealt with the bulls are people of different Democrats.
I was first fired in a North Syracuse school district, which is a suburb.
That's an interesting position where people that are moving into the to the city and town and and shaking things up a bit.
What? It's good to adult members believe in that.
And then I went to Syracuse City School District, which is one of the large.
It's actually the largest school district area.
It's that tells a lot of poverty.
Um, deals with a lot of challenges of funding it z on dance, liberal on a tray with, Actually, I live in.
But it taught me, you know, you're each person has different needs.
There's unique needs.
You have to be well versed in customer service, kind of if you look at it a parent or a student as a customer, you have to make sure that you're doing your part in your enemy any consistent with the product you put out whether it is teaching, whether it is on the basketball side of things, SportsCenter things you for that your product is good at all times. Inconsistent.
Um, and every situation is I've learned a lot.
No, I think that's great, man.
And people that in transition from teach, because there's a lot of guys that do transition from teaching and and you waited to coach as well or no, I was coaching on in high school.
I coached that, actually, Is who Now and then I went on to coach for years.
That has no bucolic small Okay.
Yeah, I know a lot of guys do transition from that high school toe.
Um, you know, that college and pro pro ranks stand.
Burke actually was the Pacers assistant coach.
He was coaching high school baseball for eight years, and then, ah, then he switched from high school, right to the Portland Trail Blazers.
So, yeah, it's crazy, you know? And there's a lot of high school coaches out there that probably know a lot more than a lot of college coaches.
But, you know, a lot of college coaches, just no more people on.
And I think that's that's a That's a big part about the business.
But ah, you know, let's ah, let's kind of it's kind of skip ahead here, man.
This is the best part of the whole entire show.
The speed round.
Have you seen this? Be around it all for us? Who do you see? Um, James, some guy doing juice, okay.
He didn't do too bad.
Evelyn did horrible.
You could do better.
Didn't do battle.
You ready? Do you have one minute to answer as many questions as possible.
If I ran a questions, you win.
Okay. All right.
A year ago, best restaurant in Syracuse.

I think the Denzel Washington won really threw me off.
I almost stopped almost any.
Any movie that he's in.
I watched, like as old as it could be.
I was kind of put on some room, actually, my first year teaching.
What? Have you seen his son? Acted all any of his sons were.
He's really good.
He's good. Teoh.
What? Have you seen the equalizer? Equalizer wanted.
It's a bad dude, man.
That's a thrilling for sure.
Well, Mike, men, I really appreciate you coming on the show I'm looking for Oh, wait.
Before I forget me and Mike have a friendly wager going on.
We're gonna We're gonna play golf next time we see each other.
It was being Syracuse or Indianapolis.
Hopefully in Indianapolis isn't my home.
Of course I have my my my advantage.
But maybe we'll live stream it.
Who knows? Okay, okay.
For its castor going.
Yeah, well, my plan appreciate you coming on the show.
