all right and the nation we have on the MBI Nation hotline for you guys.
Mr Allen's Turkey's the writer for SB Nation and former editorial writer for the Falco Holic.
You can find him on Twitter at Allen Underscore stir keys, a great follow on their especially.
I've been following it as of late a couple of weeks, and I've already begin a lot of inside tips, and we're having a course. Gonna have him on here.
Talk about the Atlanta Falcons.
But first, Alan, how are you doing today? Ah, great.
Would gone because of, you know, football, kind of.
I'm not sure in jeopardy is the word, but definitely in the loop.
So trying to form day in, day out? Yeah, it's getting a little trick.
Here was a lot of the players that are testing positive, and this has been the big topic of discussions.
I've gone through these interviews, of course, we'll kick it off with that is, you know, with everything going on, what's your feeling on the NFL being the star on time? And if they do, do you think they're actually able to finish the season? It's hard to give an incredible answer, because you do you really gotta be a health expert to know.
But I would say you given that we're gonna go, you ever extent deceptive, right protocol.
There's just more like how they gonna according traveling, because, like, you could have everything in one location, like what the NBA's doing so I can't give, like, actual answer like, I'm just kind of figuring out how we can operate travel life, because that's the real concern.
Is he? You have such a huge Rawson that people are taking Teoh into consideration, I assume in August will get a good feel for the rest of us.
See what training camp is like? Because, you know, being following a legal, they need at least 45 weeks to get ready for season.
So, uh, come late July early August May, just to see how that goes on.
Well, yeah, and not just that.
And I'm kind of curious, you know? Do they need expand? MLB's doing it? Did any expanded rosters throughout the season? Because if you have, you know, running back room or a wide receiver room or whatever and everybody contracts it from each other, all of a sudden you're out, you're on the practice squad, guys, you need guys being ready and able to go.
If if that were the lineup happening, yeah, that's an excellent point, especially given how is injuries.
You could get team to say, like the charges.
Excuse like every year there's a gay players on our yard, so and who knows what players will be like when it comes to endurance? You know what the rehabs been like for players that suffered a season ending injuries last year? So, yeah, they found six man roster.
But then we don't quite know what the financial like comes with salad.
So there's just so many questions.
I'm just hoping by August we get feel more answer because right now, the Panola T it's been a while keeping a kid.
He's tryingto rely on articles ability they dio.
Yeah, I know it's It's making everything really, really tricky because, you know, we all wanna have this season, obviously, But to your point, we haven't even gotten people really in the building on a consistent basis yet.
We're already having some issues, and there's a lot of questions that come with that.
But fingers crossed I'm hopeful there's still some time hopeful.
Have a blueprint here.
Hopefully, the other sports starting up will get some kind of idea of what we can do.
Moving forward. I mean, baseball.
Probably the closest one, because they're not gonna play in a bubble either.
Eso maybe Maybe we'll be able to get a blueprint from them, but ah, yeah, we just I need some sports pack in general, especially football doing doing all of this.
Um, but we brought you on to talk about the Falcons and, of course, being the famous you Celery.
And we're focusing on it from a fantasy perspective of what kind of production we expect out of these guys.
It all starts with, You know, Matt Ryan.
Is he in store for bounce back in 2020 Has been right now just because there I'm not a huge proponent there. Cutter.
I was very surprised that brought him back, but I think one possible be I don't see it all center line crumbling, as does it.
Did one thing with that Ryan to keep second.
Most Taxi took in his career last year, and I think over the past two seasons, keep in fact more than 40 times.
So with all that punishment.
So she Ryan being 35 years old now, he cannot take much more.
Be so, I think now, given the offense lines.
Chris Lindstrom, Booze.
A budding star right guard for the Alex Man.
Just real good staples on the offense.
I think if he gets protection, there's no reason why I should have it bounce back.
The idea that the most rides on.
Even though I'm not a huge point of their cutter, they still could create play, especially given their supporting cast.
Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of talent there, and there's a great point with the offense of live.
I mean, they had a lot injury issues last year. They're still really young.
I mean, the couple of rookies I got hurt.
I mean, really, when you look at their part, they're pretty much going to be rookies.
As far as our experience goes in this season, what do you think about that offense of line? If it is healthy, I think I was a chance to be top 10 because I'm really higher Christmas.
You only play about 45 games last year.
Even coming back, I remember against the 40 Niners, Warden held his own against the arguably the best defensive finally, and there was long winter than preseasons as they find someone that right guards been a problem position for almost a decade now.
McGary is very raw.
He had major issues between pass protection.
I can still someone that I want a couple of, because I like to give a three years, but you definitely need to work on for working overall technique.
But the guys like Jake Matthews, Ox Mac, so some concerns are left guard.
But right now, I think you you watch football like this.
So many offense lines out there that questionable If you have the least response secured with a bull average, players should feel optimistic about the fourth Bulgarian whoever went over to be James Corp in error or Jamaat umbrella.
I think the fact that they have three above average players on the line, please feel more encourage.
Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head right there because that is, promotion comes down to if you have at least one side of your line or an interior aspect of your line.
Like you say, you got three guys are above average and are able to stay healthy.
You're probably gonna be in the conversation for the top 10 offensive line.
Just kind of a remark on.
You know how the offense of lines really are at this stage in the game.
There's not a lot of great ones out there, and that's that's kind of just what you need to see a few guys to stay healthy, who can play well and overall, you'll wind up doing pretty well as a unit that goes, You know, that's really big for the running back situation and Falcons.
And when they bring in Todd Curly, you know what, What do you think? Not just what his expectations are going to be, but what do you think his percentage of the workloads going to be is, is his backfield.
I don't think it could be, is that just because we've seen what Sean McVey held used forward pets? I want two full seasons of the first.
You got pretty, ah, substantial work.
Would I think now, given the Nikkei be times where he's me rotating now.
I don't think the running back given 18 20 touches, I think it's gonna b'more safe.
Obviously, there will be some game.
So she's playing the lead with okay or to use goes.
But I think like all signs of kind of one towards growing being more of a player that fits with them supporting cast rather than work with that, I think those days over and, uh, rapturous because he said what I was seeing very exposed to views that break with being really gone.
Stretch run, very diverse player.
It's just a matter of okay, Make sure manages work well, because they'll have a lot there and someone that David is that the line and they, you know, one year, five million.
This is a player that once he hit the market, they got him within.
I would say what eight hours they made sure where you get off early, so he's a huge piece.
And I think it's exciting just because talking they're kind of they kind of this lone now, given that last two years and then essentially had a preparation by late November, and it was a lot of blood going to the scene.
So the fact that you get someone that's not just a star but hometown hero very exciting.
So I'm pretty optimistic.
Gloria Borger Madhes work Well, because this is not player I don't think contained both 20 touches.
Not someone like a Donovan Coker sick on Barkley.
Well, it's interesting on that.
I want to get inside a little bit because at the end of last season, the brand McVeigh said the heck with and gave him, you know, 20 plus touches, every single one of those games when they were trying to get back in the playoffs stretch.
You seem to hold up OK, only missed one game last season, and then to your point, while they did invest a decent amount of money in him, it is only a one year contract.
But you don't believe that because it's only one year contract that Falcons will still have reservations and using them up, even though they don't really have as much to lose after this season.
Well, that's a good question because they kind of like to rotate around because even went about the treatment of those that is shared injuries and this was when Kevin Coleman eventually moved to San Francisco.
They were still putting guys the Edo Smith Award.
Decent, viable options.
But it is our because you look a girly and with media itself, it's such like, fragile part.
The body is one injury, one bad hit, cautious about.
You want to use them.
So there might be something, especially because I know they're gonna make more priority than run a ball, because that's one thing.
Deck went bad because there was somebody came to see if they were down double digits in the first half, it essentially being the runner one point.
So it's harder to quantify it.
But I still, I think, goes back to the playoffs because you look at the games against Dallas.
Uh, and they play because New Orleans Vietnam, NFC playoffs and then eventually super was just like why CJ Anderson gave these guys.
I think that was like the first real sign when it comes to how to use them.
Late last year, they maybe they were just playing for a playoff lives.
So, uh, that my very and I you look at the center of low Chamakh.
They kind of came to terms that Jared Goff is the one that could really take the initiative, someone that is much better.
Winning, playing front musical action.
I think Matt Ryan's more four backwards like Okay, we give the full range depended.
So, like Jago? Yeah.
I mean, I don't disagree that a that a very good layout If ah, so in your opinion, if they're going to manage girls work a little a little bit, who's going to be that second running back is gonna be, You know, Smith is going to Brian Hill's gonna be a combination of the two.
Well, the big toe Smith said he was really gonna is working here.
Then I kind of doubt injuries.
What's gang? It was hard for ****in corruptible last year, given that there are so many games they were behind, I think u s miss like this.
Real shifty, very elusive running back, someone that could make a lot, uh, issues.
He's like 59 So the kind of much of where you're going exactly like Ryanair will come or the power back, maybe a kingdom over in short yardage.
Uh, I would say, you know, probably more to carries, but I don't Brian Hill kind of worked his way into the rotation.
So, uh, if I say, maybe they'll give you a shot, especially what comes with pickups, which is very good for, but I definitely think Brian Abel placed inside a bubble, some type of rule.
Okay, Okay. I like it.
And ah, I mean, so the big thing after that is, of course, Julio Jones, you know, been one of top three receivers and fancy football for years.
Now he's always consistent.
Uh, maybe Calvin Ridley takes to step up this focus.
Just this question.
What's your expectations for him? Do you think he is able to find the red Zone? Maybe more this year.
Finally I get that all the time.
So weird, because this morning, But I will say the team really do Kia Bonham.
When in the red zone, they they will press met the Leinster in jail, have a safety lurking.
So there is one other teams scheme book.
Okay, you're gonna have the beat us away, whether it's before, obviously, Mom, it's was there, like Okay.
Was new awesome.
Cooper, that that's who, uh, single cover And you b s with them.
Rise and say, Well, I think it was more on often cornea because working real do if you get double cover in the red zone if I like the time of their life.
So we mourn their cutter, who has had multiple years coaching joints.
Given that Jonah there, Dan Cutter chosen 12 tons of 14.
So I always say When it comes to number, that guy won't preclude lead, maybe yard receptions or targets, or even touch.
You have guys like Michael Pasta Monte and you are very Number one featured Gold Worth, and there's no real number two in there on their teams.
I've loved Male Sanders, but there isn't a guy gets one target so well, when it comes with numbers, I say like, Okay, Michael Thomas Davonte on goes like the two receivers they're gonna get Monta Tories.
They're gonna put up a certain catches yard touchdown.
But it was going to stay.
I resume speaks for itself.
I would say what? Just 12.
Outside of Children. 13 where you focus.
We was out for a year, but he doesn't 12.
You kind of where you're gonna get your nearly 80 90 catches for between 1200 maybe 1600 yards, just a touchdown.
The Reginald baggage is I don't know.
They just never seem to solve it.
And I think you really need to play quarters.
And I want to get their card.
Not exactly the guy I would have full faith it, but, well, you know, you put him in that three.
If I had a rank it, I would say, just fancy wise, the big, probably below Just Michael Thomas about the people.
Would you like a new coffin? Yeah, I mean, just the comment that admired my rankings.
Rather get published soon.
And I actually have Julio in half point. League's number.
Number two. Overall.
I have him just ahead of Davante Adams, right behind Michael Thomas.
I think Atlanta's offense and the general is going to take a bit of a step up for at least production standpoint from what they were last year and as there.
So I think you know who it was.
I just think he's in line for another 13 yards.
Questions gonna be the touchdowns.
If you can get a number of touchdowns, I think he might be right there.
Michael Thomas personally.
Ah, but that kind of leads into what we expect that a Calvin Ridley.
What kind of the season can heat is, is his is his year to finally take that jump up.
We with all might be last year, didn't quite get the expectations that we wanted for him.
But is it? This year? It's crazy.
I see so much high blood covenant, really just from different fanciful providers.
And seems like every week just like a new thing going, I would have Really, he's a special talent.
Crumble right one are very explosive.
Uh, I think this will be just because now the new isn't there like people getting on its commands.
A lot of target had a great report.
He would get six.
They target the game, so that would kind of beat up, really started share.
And not to mention your who had Austin Google.
So you can't get some backer for it.
And even though I do think it hurts could do some damage, I think they're capable replacement, you know, I think now it's clearly really clear Number two compared to what it was in 2018 or 19 where you had Hooper into new.
We're going to get their time.
They had monster games and they would take a lot targets that really was limited to say three or four now released a clear number two.
There's no denying that.
So, uh, I think, yeah, this should be his breakout year.
I think just more effective.
Find that because I think him and Ryan have always had great chemistry.
Just Maura, about the target check.
You have to pick that into account when it comes.
The wine to see racing series has its breakout year.
You know there's only one Tyree kill, like Tiger kills someone that doesn't really need a monster party shared procreating.
Everyone else that kind of need at least 9 10 targets that put up the numbers that you want from a number one receiver.
We had a guy like have been really too, because he is somebody who is known for not really having great statistics after the catch at the moment.
So having the volume that you're talking about was two new going on Hooper going that does go to him.
He has more solidified a floor heading into this season.
I definitely believe if he can even get better after the catch.
I think we're going to see a huge step up, but I don't know.
I have question marks about that.
He doesn't seem to break tackles as much as I really thought he would, right? Yeah, he's not the most like, twisty little, shifty receiver.
He's more someone that you know.
He's a burner like you get behind the seats and we'll go from there.
But he's not someone that you see.
He's like six foot, so he's not breaking tackles and he doesn't make a lot of people mess.
Oh, yeah, that is a critique.
But also, you would hope there for fever ain't like you want scheme of up.
You want to keep my before they could get.
You didn't see that a lot last year.
So I think that's also more from a coach.
Example it where you hope that it should improve.
So benefit really numbers now that's completely fair.
And you imagined hate.
It hurts a little bit.
I I'm big on hating he****s year, especially from a a sleeper, tight end standpoint for fancy football purposes.
I think he's actually more athletic than Austin Hooper.
Think he fits the role quite well.
We know Matt Ryan will throw it to the tight end, especially in the red zone.
What do you think? A hating he****s season.
He has a lot of Ah, the positive attributes, something he wants, the time guy that could go vertical.
And that Ryan seeing think over the course of his career, when the best years for most come on each other consistent.
I don't think of something years inside with Tony Gonzalez.
So the fact is getting someone else that it has a former first round pick.
I know he hasn't done much in the league, necessarily.
Look at that offense.
Using is in a run for itself in very unorthodox in with both more.
So I'm kind of intrigued about.
I'm kind of a treat how he fits, especially with someone like Julio and really, because someone that's gonna get lost, single coverage and someone is that flight background to command a lot of attention.
So maybe I don't know what to put on at the kitchen more.
Let's see what he puts care.
16 games for girls, so has major issues as well.
So there's someone known I think just given how good my Ryan is and how he consistently gets tight ends involved, like I think Jacob Tammy had his best year of his career with that Ryan.
So my rights when I walked inside.
And that's why I think there's no reason why people should hesitate on a dinner.
Someone that I went surprising.
If you end up being a top 10 score at the time. Tradition.
Oh yeah, I actually haven't just inside of my top 10 Syria.
It just lines up to vacate.
The targets were Austin Hooper.
Each lives right in there. Perfectly.
Like I said, he fits the role of physicality standpoint.
I just think maybe he's not putting up tight and one numbers that we saw Austin Hooper last season in his first year with Atlanta Falcons.
But I see no reason why he's not gonna be highly productive from that position.
But the last question I have for you and it kind of goes hand in hand.
We're talking about the offense specially the women Falcons is what your outlook on on the defense that they improved it all or is this just going to be a team that's going to have to play shootout football season long again.
I'm piling slightly more towards Europe, Eloise, because we don't have a lot of playmakers, a great judge. Fantastic.
Deon Jones, on the best league with Count Neil stays healthy, has the keys of the true enforcer, and you will see what a gag Doctor side.
I don't know if I was insuring, but he's not look direction.
But besides that, there's just a lot of unknowns secondaries every young, such a the corn position.
And in a division, where do you have Michael Thomas, this guy when Mike Evans, DJM or Robby Anderson? This is India craze division.
Not to mention they played a F C West and they see what not just the Chiefs now that other teams both Tyler with Denver and the charges have done this offseason.
So, yeah, I don't have high expectations.
I think there's one encouraging thing.
As ever, he Morris has taken over the role at the subsequent air.
They kind of made a shift last season when, after they went 17 they after by we overheat Morse and chef Wilbert, the linebacker coaches Mawr play corners because Quinn was trying take over everything and after cold disaster.
Once Raheem Morris came in, they shut down New Orleans.
Beat Sam was just like they'd be arguably the 2% C teams on the road during that six to stretch at the big reason why Dan Quinn has a job.
So if there's one positive besides the fact, okay, I think Fowler is someone that would be huge.
Upgrade over something like a Beasley, and I am excited to see what key on you couldn't make it failed.
I think the best thing you could say that the 1000 defense is just the fact that over he Morris is there.
I need someone, even though it didn't work out, that he's really back up his reputation.
Close the week, Yeah, I mean, that's a big part of it.
This scheme, like they had the whole big coaching shift of right after that, by weak, and they looked like a completely different team the second half.
So yet that is going to be the question on both sides.
That ball can they carry that into 2020.
To your point, though, they are only a few key injuries way I mean, there's been in injury issues with Deon Jones have been injury issues with Quiano Neil and of those to go down.
It could be really, really bleak again like it had been for the past couple of years without those guys in certain spots, too.
Eso I'll be that would be really interesting to watch and that also propel fingers production cause they're gonna have to score a lot of points.
Ah, but Alan, I want to thank you so much for coming on your absolutely fantastic before you go.
Can you tell everybody something you're working on now that we can all go ahead and look forward to and where to follow you at? You called me out on the score.
That's a double again on the score.
Str ke right now doing a lot on something pockets with Aaron Freeman.
We're kind of in this, like 16% movement where it was just kind of go off recently were quizzing people in the past 15 seasons.
So we've been like doing like this torment for the past six weeks now, and it's been very encouraging.
We actually also just recently did an interview with Jamal Anderson, who is the famous running back.
He's known for the 30 bird dance.
He was created in 1998 People season.
We just like a two part interview with him, just talking about all sorts of different subjects Once you go.
That definitely knew.
I recognized he was great.
He gave us, like, 55 minutes.
That's why we had do too far.
So, yeah, I'm really focused on here with the awesome liver.
But go ahead and check out Allen.
He's absolutely great.
Follow on Twitter as well.
Thank you so much for coming on. I hope to talk to you. Get in the future.
Something that thank you.
