What's going on? Everybody? This railroad coming to you from sports caster news.
And I'm here with my regular partner in crime.
Lawrence, When we do not have Joe New Boat tonight, Joe is Ah, well, he's making money somewhere else.
Stay with the grind, Lawrence.
How you doing, man? I'm doing great, man. Thanks for having.
No, I always love way talk like we weren't just together for the last 10 minutes, you know, first.
So Tyree Kill wants to make history this season.
He wants to have a 2000 yards season.
Um, look, he's the cheetah for a reason.
Right there have being 2000 yard rushing seasons, but never a 2000 yard receiving seasons.
More than likely, because you don't just throw to the same player every single play, and you got to spread the love boat a little bit more where running backs get a little bit more sort of freedom.
But I'm wondering, Lawrence, what do you think of Mr Hill's ambitious take that he wants to set the record with the 1st 2000 yard receiving seasons.
To me, that seems a little bit selfish.
Um, no, No offense.
I understand everybody wants to have great seasons, but for him to have a 2000 yards season, that means the rest of this team is not having that that great of a season is.
Well, I mean, you got figure they got Chelsea, they got Watts and they got all kinds of God are Watkins.
They got all kinds of guys on their team that need to be fed the football and mawr that the other guys were fed.
The better chances are that you're gonna have a good season as well, because you can only cover so many people.
There's been multiple time where there has been three people on the same team with 1000 yard seasons, and that provides great offense out there, you know? I mean, uh, Manning did it one year with Harrison Wayne and Stokley, you know? So I don't know if Brady's ever done that.
He not have, but I know that there's been time that that happens.
I would rather see that for Mahomes.
That's showing a lot of success through the air focus on one receiver.
Ah, like, let's say Sean Watson had to do with Hopkins.
Then that means he's not trusting in his other other receivers nearly as much.
And I would rather see 3000 yard receivers than 2000 yard receiver, and I agree.
Now here's the thing.
Tyree Kill didn't even get 1000 yards last season.
Now you missed some time.
He only played 12 games, got 860.
Only 1000 yard receiver they had was Travis Kelsey.
I believe Brady had 1000 yards with two players with Gronk and Edelman in the same year, and I believe that Gronk and Welker could have done it as well.
Don't hold me to that, but I agree.
The only way Tyree kill gets 2000 yards is by being targeted. Bid.
I double what everybody else is being targeted, which then makes the defensive game plan so easy.
Put our best safety and our best corner on Tyree kill and last part.
Took my homes, plays fantasy football, and it's worth millions and billions of dollars.
He's just going to throw to guys like Sammy Watkins and Travis Kelsey, and you know those kind of guys, Um, I I agree.
I don't know how they even get to the point that you can have a 2000 yard receiver.
Um, I don't This isn't a disrespect to Tyree kill.
This is just But there's been a lot of better receivers than Tyreek Hill, Randy Moss, Antonio Brown and his prime with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I'm just talking recency.
Odell Beckham Jr is a better wide receiver than Tyree kill.
Um, none of those guys have come close to 2000 yard seasons.
It was a way better receiver didn't come close to, you know, 2000 yards.
DeAndre Hopkins were really he was the only receiver on a team.
Didn't come close to 2000 yards.
Tyreek Hill is fast.
He's a good receiver.
Um, I know cheese fans are probably screaming right now, saying he's the best ever and he's not, you know.
So, um, and if you believe that, it's I'm sorry.
Um, I don't even understand.
I don't even know how you can get to 2000 yards again unless you're putting Madden on rookie mode and just throwing it to the same guy every time where the defense can't cover him.
I don't I don't understand how we accomplish that.
I mean, great, Good ambitious goal, young man.
But I don't know how long, like we can't even talk about this just a little bit ridiculous in my eyes.
So it is absolutely resulting.
And I'll guarantee you, Patrick, my home thinking, thinking that either.
No, absolutely not.
But let's, uh, let's talk about can see the cheese for a second.
You know, one thing I'm noticing on Twitter, I don't know if you are is the chief's words.
Air dropping the D word Cheese fans air dropped in the D word around a lot.
Um, and it's funny because when the when the Philadelphia Eagles and Nick Foles won the Super Bowl and have the food really special and all that, I was told that we're now going to see the next dynasty of the NFL.
I heard that Peyton Manning was gonna leave the next dynasty of the NFL.
Obviously, it sounds arrogant.
Been a Patriots fan, because we were the last dynasty up until last season in the NFL.
But dynasties don't happen like often.
You mean it's not a a regular occurrence.
Our boss actually sent the stats.
Seven franchises have won consecutive Super Bowls.
Green Bay one Super Bowl want.
It's Super Bowl, too.
Miami won a couple.
The Steelers won.
The 40 Niners did it.
The Cowboys did it.
The Broncos did it in the last team to do.
It was the Patriots back in the early 2000 while the beginning of the millennium.
Now there's a very real possibility that we're do.
And it could be the next era.
And in my opinion, Lauren.
If any team is set up to repeat a Super Bowl champions, it's the team that just basically brought back the entire team.
They just won the Super Bowl with, including their half a $1,000,000,000 quarterback.
And even though it's hard, I didn't believe Philly was gonna win back to back Super Bowls.
And I think if Kansas City can avoid that dreaded Super Bowl hangover, I believe that if any team could win back to back, this is probably the team to pull it off.
I don't think in the city we'll have what it takes to repeat this year, and I know a lot of Kansas City fans is gonna hate me for this, but hear me out.
It is very difficult to repeat based on offense, um, defense's.
They go very well.
Very, very, very well in the playoffs.
And if you could make make it to the playoffs with your defense year after year, then you have a shot, Uh, offenses.
When you get when you get to a Super Bowl or get to the playoffs, a lot of your better defense's are in that playoffs with you and they figure out how to slow you down or stop you.
There was multiple times where Kansas City was in in the playoff games.
Every playoff game that they were in last year.
Uh, they started.
They were looking at like, Oh, crap, we have a real shot at losing this at some point in the game, especially the first half of games, right? Um, now, let's let's talk about Let's not forget Chris Jones talking about holding out to get $20 million.
When you have ah, high powered offense, you need that pass rush up front, especially up the middle.
You need to be able to get to the quarterback to keep the other offense from being able to score as much as you and without Chris Jones.
If he doesn't play next season, and I don't see much of a shot at all.
I see them having a good season.
I see them winning 11 12 games without first Jones.
But once they get into the playoffs, I just I just don't see it.
I think that they'll run into somebody like Baltimore or possibly New England, Uh, a team from the A F C.
South, because there's three good defense is in the A F C South right now that could make the playoffs.
Denver Even Denver could stop Kansas City in the player.
Those okay, so I guess, Um, here's what I want to throw up.
We all know that old, you know, defense wins championships, right? It's something that we were talking about all the time.
Defense wins championships at the, um, I think what the Kansas City Chiefs proved Last year's offense can win championships, right, and and we've seen it happen.
Philadelphia was definitely offense wins championships because that was just on absolute shootout between Philly and ah in the Patriots.
So we really we had a shoot out, and then we had to masterful defensive performances in Super Bowl 53 with the Rams and the Patriots.
And then we went back to I wouldn't necessarily call it a shootout.
But we had one good defense that finally got exposed by what was probably, I think, fair earlier, more superior offense.
Um, I will disagree with you, Lawrence, that, um I think that the painter or that the Chiefs offense is strong enough that they can withstand some of the downfall they're gonna have from their lack of defensive help.
I believe that Travis Kelsey is the best tight end in the NFL right now.
I know that some people will argue that he's not that he's maybe the second best tight end.
Some people have argued it was the third.
I believe he's the best tight end in the NFL right now.
I think you have Sami walk ins and Tyree kill who? You can't card both of them, and that's one of the problems with that speed, and we've seen it.
The offensive line has done fairly well to give Patrick Mahomes a time, and he can extend plays, which means one of them is going to get open now.
We didn't get a whole lot of support from we didn't get a whole lot of support from the running game in Kansas City last year, but they drafted Clyde Edwards.
Is that his name? And he is probably the type of running back to Kansas City Chiefs need.
He's not a runner.
He's a receiving running back.
He's like a James White.
If I compared with the Patriots, that's going to give Patrick Mahomes another outlet, the throat.
So if you somehow figure out how to take away Watkins, take away Hill, take away Kelsey, then you're gonna have, you know, Edwards Hilaire coming in on the back end of things.
Also, I think that one thing that gets lost a lot, too, is how good Hardman was for Kansas City last year.
He kind of gets buried by the performances of, you know, the Big Three of Kelsey Watkins.
And in Hill, um, we seen Kansas City be successful with Hill missing four games.
I mean, how Kansas City won two games without Patrick Mahomes.
You've got a great offensive mind in Andy Reid.
You've got a great offensive system.
Andy Reid, apparently to is figured out oclock manage and yeah, Ken Kansas City win.
Why falling behind like they did over again.
No, the defense is not.
You can't fall behind 21. Nothing.
And you know what? I keep expecting to come back.
At the same time, though, the offense knows they can't let teams put upto anyone straight points without answering anything.
They need to put up the points to.
I think sometimes it's, you know, it's fans.
We excuse and not me and you know me, Lawrence.
I'm a defense guy.
I'd rather watch a 13 to 10 game than a shootout.
I love a great defensive performance, but I will say, and maybe this is me because I am a defensive guy.
The expectations on defense is compared to offenses are at.
That is actually much higher sea because an offense you think about Houston, Nobody blamed the offense for going down 21. Nothing.
It was all the defense's fault.
They couldn't stop anything.
You know, I pointed out the cheese stands well, Pretty boy.
Mahomes doesn't scored a point yet.
How is this all on the defense? 21? Nothing is a collective effort between the offense and the defense.
I will also say in that Houston game there was a lot of three and outs of interceptions and everything else, which also demoralizes a defense, right, thank you.
I don't think the chief's defense has to be spectacular.
They have to be good.
They need to take the old Patriots way in back in 2014.
Not the original Patriots.
Not the early 2000 Super Bowl team, but the 14 Super Bowl, 51 in Super Bowl 49 Bend.
But don't break right.
Give up field goals.
Weaken, you know, give up field goals.
Don't give up touchdowns.
Um, because if there was any quarterback in the league right now, that could come back from 28 to 3, like Tom Brady did.
I? It's got to be Patrick Mahomes.
We've seen him kind of sore to do it against the Houston Texans and yet wasn't a Super Bowl.
But it was an elimination game. It was the playoffs.
It was, you know, everything was on the line, and then we saw him come back against San Francisco.
So I do believe if the defense plays good enough with or without Chris Jones, not great, but good enough.
With or without Christian Jones, I believe that this offense is good enough to bring them to that next level.
All right, so I'm gonna counter your counter, all seven of those teams that was named off just a minute ago, not the teams themselves, but of those years, like the New England Patriots of the early two thousands and the San Francisco's and the Pittsburgh's and the green.
Every one of those teams that won back to back had good defense is every single one of them.
Some of them had good offenses to to go with it.
But every single one of the teams of those 17 that won back to back one because they had good defense is as well, like good defense is even even your New England team that had a great offense, right, that he was talking about 49 51.
They weren't back to back, was they? You know, they got stopped on and 50.
Let's talk about like the Indianapolis Colts had a great offense.
They could only get there on their offense one time, and that was against the same thing.
They will lost it.
They actually got to the Super Bowl and won the Super bowl against the Bears because of their defense.
Because of how AH, their defense just stepped up hard core during the playoffs.
Super Bowl when Bob Sanders come back, All these high powered offense is that we've seen over the past two decades, uh, the Rams, all these teams, the Cardinals, they can't get there a second time because teams you need an issue.
You need a balance.
You need a good defense to go with that offense because teams will figure out a way to slow down and open.
It's funny that you brought up Super Bowl 50 is the point of the not the back to back on the two Patriots super victories.
Because it was actually the offense that led us down in the A F C championship game.
I think we lost 21 to 20.
I think if your defense gives up 21 points, that should be enough for your team to win.
Um, I don't know why people always have this envision of like Oh, you know, the defense shouldn't give up more than 17.
I'm like No. 21 points. Three scores.
Um, if you're losing, if your defense only lets up 21 you lose.
That means your putting up less than one score 1/4.
That's not good enough offense.
If your defense is holding a team toe under one score 1/4 then it's doing its job.
It's giving you an entire quarter to score an extra point than the other team.
So it's just I and I got your point is just funny because it wasn't actually the You know, the Patriots offenses wet the bat against Denver in credit to Denver's defense.
Who held the Patriots.
You know, back from not scoring as well.
Um, it worked both ways.
I mean, if Stephen Gostkowski doesn't miss the extra point, they go to overtime.
Who knows what happens, right? It could go either way.
Um, I don't know, Like I mean, I get what you're saying and every team Yes, every team that was listed, I would say that San Francisco they had an OK defense.
I believe that that that offense was the the face of the San Francisco team that went back to back that the, uh obviously San Francisco because that deviate is actually really good.
That defense was very good at the same team that had, like Ronnie Lott and all them guys, they very, very solid defense.
It waas Now when we get to the balance of great offense is of great defense is It's also very, very generational as well, Right? Um, I remember Bill about Allah.
Check talking about a once, and he was talking about how you know the Giants could keep Lawrence Taylor because there was no salary cap.
So you're able to Everybody was able to keep their own guys.
That's why you know, the Buffalo Bill states so good for so long.
You know, all that kind of stuff.
It's like you're able to keep guys in the new modern day NFL.
It's difficult to balance a offensive in the defense.
You're either one or the other.
Sometimes you have these little moments of transition where your balance, I would say Baltimore is in that state right now.
They're a balanced offense and defense.
I think New England's in a balanced offense and defense again, though they got really lucky that they got a $7 million former M V P to play quarterback, right? I say Thank.
New England's a little leaning towards defense.
More than offense, but they barely I think they are, too.
I think they're more of a defensive team, but they're balanced enough that their offense can score enough points for them to win.
Just like Indy is, I think more lean towards defense.
But the offense is still.
It's still closer to, Ah to a balance.
Where is when you look at a team like the Chiefs? The offense definitely outweighs the defense.
You know, Denver is going to be interesting to see how balanced they are this year, because that offense could make them a very balanced offense defense, which is gonna make them a scary team.
But then you look at a team like Tampa Bay, and they're not balanced at all.
That is an offensive team with, ah, solid defense.
Not great, but the offense really outweighs it, and you are gonna have a lot of shootouts.
And even the the Saints defense, which had big moments last year, especially when Drew Brees went out, can still find itself in shootouts.
You know the Rams will have to get themselves in shoot outs.
There's a lot of these teams that we kind of look at at the top.
And then you got San Francisco.
Who? You know, that's a That's gonna be a You have George Kittel.
Probably, you know, the second best tight end in the NFL.
In my opinion, you have Jimmy Garoppolo, who was supposed to be the next franchise quarterback of the Patriots.
And yet I look at that team and say, That's a defensive team, you know, like that's a defense first team, Even with Buckner, even with the loss of Buckner and even Green Bay, I mean, I look at Green Bay and say, Is that an offensive team or a defensive team? I know it's ridiculous to say with Aaron, Rodgers is the quarterback, but I think that's gonna be You know, I think it proved last year that their defense, I mean, well, I mean, that sounds just begin with the disaster for both sides of the ball, right? The defense got beat up and the offense couldn't move the footballs, so it's and to think so.
It's unless one of those balanced teams I just talked about I mean, we could very well see Tampa Bay vs Kansas City.
Super Bowl What you know, it's just gonna be an absolute shootout between two teams with huge offense and okay, defense is right and it's on.
I mean, as much as I think that it's not happen, I think we can't count out the possibility that it could.
I mean, yeah, I'm not saying that it can't happen.
Kansas City has a shot.
Their offense is just that darn good.
I'm just saying that I'm not high on the whole.
I expect it to happen.
Yeah, I I I think that I would put money on a different team other than Kansas City winning the Super Bowl this year just because and I agree, I don't think I'm not sitting here saying Hey, I think this is gonna happen I'm saying if from all the teams that have won the Super Bowl's, I would say besides the Patriots, because they had a couple opportunities to win back to back, they went to back to back Super Bowl.
They went to three Super Bowls in a row, lost one in between.
Besides that team and, you know, remove the Patriots out of the picture.
In the last 10 years, that's probably the team I saw as the best chance of winning back to back Super Bowls, probably since Seattle in 2014 when they went to back to back and lost the 2nd 1 of the Patriots, right? I look at this team very much like I looked at Seattle in Seattle, had Russell Wilson, but in my opinion, he wasn't the Russell Wilson of now.
He was still developing back then, um, Matthew and curse words to top receivers.
And, of course they had Marshawn Lynch.
I mean, I'm not gonna take that away, But that was all about the Legion of Boom, right? And and basically they got out dueled by the Patriots offense.
And I know that you can turn around and say Malcolm Butler, you know, it made the big interception, but yeah, but Curse made a circus catch that put them in that position.
So let's just let's wipe those two out in the game.
The game probably finished the way.
A traditionalist probably thinks the game should have finished, right, because that's what I you know.
That's one thing.
When I always hear people like well, you know, if they would have thrown the football and I'm like, Well, of course, when it made some crazy ass catch with the ball bouncing around that was third down, they probably would have lost.
You know, they probably would have picked up the first down, and Brady wouldn't need the ball further up the field in the last name.
The last time New England Patriots were in a Super Bowl, where a crazy ass catch wasn't involved.
Super Bowl 53 when they won 13 to 3, there was no I mean, Gronk made a great catch, but it's nothing I haven't seen him do before, so probably their last Super Bowl.
But every other Super Bowl wait, it's either been didn't.
Didn't Edelman make that stupid catch at the right at the goal or right at the ground? That was 51 against the Atlanta? And then and then, from a crazy catch standpoint, Nick Foles caught a touchdown pass in Super Bowl 52.
You know, Super Bowl 49 was Kirsten yet the Tyree even 50.
Not even though you had the Edelman, you know thing.
Julio Jones also made ah, sideline catch.
That really should have sealed the game for Atlanta.
That was absolutely phenomenal.
So I mean, yeah, there's always some sort of crazy ass, you know, thing that happens in a Patriots Super Bowl.
It's just like I get.
When it didn't happen in 53 I didn't know what was going on.
One, because they were like, What's the score now? Well, that's what's funny, because let's talk not as a Patriot fan right now.
Let's just talk us football fans and people say, because I'm a Patriots fan, I say this play don't because I've talked about how much I love defense.
That was one of my favorite Super Bowls of all times lately.
I mean, just watching this, nobody's blowing anybody out.
Every drive meant something.
You almost had that feeling that the first team to score a touchdown is gonna win the game.
You know, like my body was with me.
He said that he said, the first team to score touchdowns, probably gonna win this game.
I loved it, but I would say 99% of people watching that game.
So it was probably one of the worst Super Bowls they ever watched in their life.
You know, I think a true football fan appreciated the masterpiece in the art of that game.
It really was on both sides. Both defense's.
There was an art to how they were just shutting down the number two and number three offense in the NFL, you know, I mean, like the like.
Number one was the Chiefs number two.
Number three was Patriots Rams in that order, and the game ended up 13 to 3 because you just had two guys or two.
You know, Wade Phillips and Bill Belichick.
Let's talk about two defensive masterminds and who probably had the greatest game of chess I've ever watched in a Super Bowl.
And I think true football fans appreciated what they're watching.
But a lot of people hated that Super Bowl.
Oh, I love that I love that game.
You You were there, going All right, so we'll score.
You're just going get a first down, over and over, over, just like Come on, get get to the chains, get to the change.
That's all you need.
Get to the things you know, over and over over it kept you on the edge of your seat.
Any game where you're like holy crap, you know, and you're sitting on the edge of your seat wondering what's going on if they're going, if they're going to get that first down with.
Well, see, I didn't like like that Ah was a 50 51 to 49 or something game that it wasn't a Super Bowl, but, uh, Kansas City Chiefs, the Chiefs in the Rams.
Yeah, I didn't like that game because it was that fight of game to me was kind of like, just completely out of control.
And I don't mean that in a in a good way.
Um, they were throwing the football they had.
Neither team in the second half had any inkling whatsoever of trying to run that football.
They were trying to throw it down, field through it, quick strike every time.
And it didn't matter how many times one of the quarterbacks got intercepted or got fact, you know, they were slowing it down field.
I think there was, like, six collective interceptions.
That game between my home or cough.
It was just Whoever could make the biggest play at the end of the game wins.
And I hate that there is no strategy in a game like that, right? None and these low 10 to 13 or 7 to 10 or 14 to 17 games.
Even there a strategy in that, that is you are trying to control the clock.
You want to make sure you have the bull last.
You want to make sure that you don't turn the football over because a turnover could could spell doom to you.
The hell with having eight turnovers in one game because you had six interceptions and two forced fumbles.
You know, I would much rather have a game of chess, in my opinion then, than what we saw in that in that offensive shootout.
No, I agreed few 100%.
And I think that unless for a casual football fan, sorry for an impartial football fans, so somebody who didn't have a rooting interest on both sides If you're a true football fan, yeah, there's an excitement level to the game because who's gonna win? But I don't think you're watching it going.
This is really sloppy football.
This is just airing out the ball.
I think the only ones who can really enjoy that game is if you are a fan of the teams watching because you're in a situation like who's gonna make the I don't know the bigger mistake, you know.
And that game is no different than Super Bowl 52 when the Patriots lost the Philly, where you just say, I mean Tom Brady set Super Bowl records 505 yards passing and lost the game.
You know, um and it's like, How do you set Super Bowl records for offense and still lose the game? Because it was just bad defense and just teams going up and down on each other, right? And, um, you know, I'm not a fan of football games like that, you know? Who knows? Maybe if the Patriots win that game, I turn around and say, That's the green. A Super Bowl ever.
You don't mean because of a bias nous of being a Patriots fan Put as a casual observer are not in the high scoring games.
I love him like you.
Now look, there's 14 7 17 14 games where it's just sloppy football, and it's not enjoyable to watch it.
I mean, it's just too bad offenses and two, okay, defense is just, you know, making a mockery of football.
But when you get like the Patriots and the Bills last year, which I think ended like 17 14 or something like that.
It was just to dynamite at that time.
Was the number one and number two defense in the NFL just shutting down opposing teams, quarterbacks? I mean, that's a great thing to watch.
Now, as a Patriots fan, I gave you get frustrated because you're like, just score.
You gotta mean like, score a point.
But as a casual fan, I love that game was like Baltimore and Buffalo.
I loved watching that game as a partial being, and I was probably moved.
Yeah, are leaning for Baltimore because Buffalo was right up, the Patriots asked.
But I'm still sort of impartial of that game.
It was a great game. To watch is a great defensive game.
So, you know, No, I totally agree with you.
So I mean, you and I see things very different about the Kansas City Chiefs.
Um, we both were both on the same side about what's an enjoyable football game to watch.
Anything you want to talk about.
Should we should we maybe address Washington? Uh, I mean, that's kind of big news. Is it not.
Oh, if you want.
You I froze up, you know, it's my bad.
I'm running it on.
I'm watching and running at the same time to see what the hell is going on.
So I know it's me that's screwing up.
I keep resetting my WiFi to China, kick it in the year.
Um I mean, we don't have to give an opinion which we should talk about, though, that the Washington Mm football team is no longer called the Redskins.
I think this is something that I've seen coming for a long time.
I didn't I didn't know if Snyder whatever just collapsed to the pressure.
But I guess when Nike and under armour and all those different places start telling you they're gonna pull out a sponsorships, you know, from your team, you you fold under pressure.
Now, here's what I'll say.
The name Redskin never offended me, but I'm also not indigenous.
I'm not native Americans, So, um ah, if it offended ah, majority of those people than you know.
A change has to be made then and I got it.
You know, Redskins, I would say, out of all the teams with native sort of things, that's probably the most derogatory.
So if it offended you, uh, I hope you're happy.
And I'm not saying that sarcastically.
I hope that you finally feel justice.
I will say it's going to be strange referring to Washington as a different team because, I mean, they've been the Redskins for so long.
Any guesses of what you think they're gonna be called? I've heard a couple of the different names.
Apparently, they're floating out there, and I think they both sound stupid.
But anything, anything, twinkle at this point, any NFL, any any kind of name right now will sound stupid put after Washington.
But I'm sure in 10 years will get used to, um, my one big one name change.
Yeah, with it. Look good.
Well, the biggest one that I'm hearing right now, I think we would delay.
I think it's a delayed between you and I.
Um, my I've heard the Washington Red Wolves.
That's the name I have that's been floating around the internet.
Heard generals, Like I said, stupid general swash In general, I think it should go warriors watching warriors.
What's your take on it? But here, here's my my take is I have absolutely no right to say anything about the Washington and in their team because as absolutely nothing to do with me, I think anyone that it doesn't have anything to do with its none of your business stay out of my personal.
I will support the Native Americans that this has to do with any decision that they wanted with it.
But to your point of I'm not going to say one way, we're another were fight one way or another because it does not directly affect me.
It directly affects them.
And I want them to have their saying and their voice.
And who knows? Maybe one of the, uh, local teams.
One of the local Native American tribes nearby, you know, is like, Hey, you could take our name just a lot like where the Seminoles does with Florida State, you know? And it looks say that happens how much of an outcries they're gonna be to the jail.
Earl Public, because they changed their name to an actual a native American tribe, were in fact, and you know there will be because it's his cancel culture, right? And but it's no, it's no one's business other than that tribes.
Yeah, So I finally figured out the problem.
I was watching us on SportsCastr and watching my movements to what you were saying in listening to on both ways.
There's like a six second delay of me saying something or doing something before it gets to you.
That's why sometimes I finish talking and I'm just staring at you like you're gonna say, And then all of sudden, I'll say something, I'll start talking at the same time.
So this is so I have to take that in consideration when I stop talking, there's a delay before you.
You hear what I say, but with that being said, yeah, no, I agree.
The like I said, It's It's, you know, um, it is nothing to do with me if it was offensive to people than it needs to be changed.
And I think that in the Cancer Culture Society, which I hate the cancer culture to kick cancer called Cancel called a cancer, too.
But I hate the cancel culture.
I do believe, though, when I look at a name like Redskins.
I can when I can easily look at something and say, Okay, I understand why that's offensive then, even though I'm not personally offended by it.
Because I'm not Native American because I didn't even know until I was like a teenager what Redskins even meant because, you know, when I grew up, we didn't refer to indigenous or we call the indigenous to Canada of Native American whatever you know, acronym used for, um, we I didn't even know that That's what you referred to people as, um So when I was a teenager, someone's like, Oh, my God, they're talking about natives when they say the Reds Redskins, um, didn't offend me.
But I am not native.
I'm a white Caucasian, Eastern European, your Western European, you know, descent here in Canada.
And if it offended people, which it obviously as I can easily see why it does, I'm fine with the name change.
I think that when we start getting the other conversations and I had this conversation with my wife tonight, I said, because now they're starting to talk about the Chiefs and the Braves and you know, the Cleveland Indians, and you know, and we're going back and forth about it.
And I finally looked up and said, You know what? If people are offended, who am I to say? Don't be offended you.
I mean, if you look at it as a a, a slight on your heritage and on your beliefs and your color did you know, because I was trying to like and I was trying.
Here's the thing, Lawrence.
I was trying to compare it to something for myself, and I couldn't find a good example that would actually enraged me, like because of something personal to me.
And I was like, You know, like the Washington Catholics or, you know, like the New York Canadians or something of that nature, and I got nothing compared to what I was talking about, Um, but I just basically said, like in these kind of situations, I just have to support the people who are offensive now.
Do I look at a team like the Braves is that is obviously offensive to me as the Redskins.
Not today, but I haven't done any research on where the names the Braves came from.
I think that they're symbolism like the Tomahawk and the chop and all that that I can obviously stay.
See why would be offensive? Um, so but you need, you know, and same with the Chiefs logo in the shape of a narrow and people dressing up.
And, you know, you got a white guy who knows nothing about the Native American culture dressing up like a traditional Native American.
And I think that in their chance, when they go like this, yeah, uh, at 100% I think that that's ah, definite issue as well.
Um, so I will support people, and what I would love is is for Native Americans, too.
Educate me about the Braves and the Chiefs, and those kind of names that aren't is, you know, the Cleveland Indians with Chief Wahoo.
Yeah, that one's an easy one to figure out, You know what I mean? I would like to be educated too, though, because when I do support you and people call me out because you know, we'll get called out even on this show, just for this conversation, I'd love to turn around and say, Well, listen, it's offensive because of this.
And unless you're Native American, I don't really want to hear your opinion, Why it's not offensive.
I don't want to hear anyone's opinion, why it's offensive of them if it's not directed towards them.
I don't want to hear some random Caucasian man or some random black man or Mexican man say well, the reason why the Chiefs is offensive to me.
It has nothing to do with you.
So it's not offensive to you, and you cannot tell me that it is offensive to someone else.
When you're not in their shoes, let someone speak for themselves and allow them their own voice.
Support them in their voice.
But don't speak for somebody else.
It's that's disrespectful, and I think completely disrespect will never speak for somebody else.
I have no problem believing what somebody said I have, you know, like the black lives movement matters.
I have no issues repeating everything that that somebody a color says about it, Um, but I think for me to stand up and say this is the direction we have to take I could take that direction as a white man and say, Hey, white people, listen to me.
Don't be racist, You what? I mean, that's something where I can speak for myself.
But I think what when it comes to, you know, Ah, thing like black lives, matter or thing, like a protest or things like this, I think, to support what I believe in and support with these people.
You know what these people's messages is? One thing, Um, I agree with you.
I think throwing your voice of support is more powerful than you canceling something or trying to get your opinion out when you really don't know or you really don't like.
I always say, Large is the easiest thing.
I always tell people I understand the principles of oppression, but I've never been oppressed, so I'm never really going to fully understand what it means to be a pressed on Lee.
Somebody who's been oppressed really gets it.
You and I mean, And whether that's because of skin color, Um, you know where you were born, What you know, uh, color your hair is whatever in any which way I'm Look, I'm a white straight male in Toronto, Canada.
It's never happened to me, right? So I can't percenter and go.
This is what happens to oppress people.
What I can say is is when I look at the principles of oppression, it's wrong.
And this is why it's wrong.
And I'm not here on my soapbox.
I think what we're just talking about is is support, but let people speak for themselves and then be the bigger voice behind them.
Sounds pretty much the same thing I just said.
Yeah, I was just recapping what we were talking about.
Yeah, all right.
We did 40 minutes.
I think we did pretty good with just the two of us.
I want I want your thoughts on the whole to roll prior thing.
Ah, truthfully, my honest thoughts.
I have no idea if that makes sense.
Um, I read about it yesterday.
Today I looked up stuff and I sat there and went, Huh? This could be I don't know, Honestly, God.
And I know this sounds like a coffee right now, but I really think well, prior opinion on it.
Okay? I think the New England Patriots should look into it.
Now, throw prior is turn that 30 work, but he's converted quarterback to a wide receiver and he showed that he can play as a wide receiver and did really good as a big bodied wide receiver.
Ah, possession guy, a 50 50 guy, someone who could actually get out there and do that Now, obviously, a couple of years ago, Hey was stabbed darn near, you know, life threatening, right? Didn't even know if he survived alone.
Play football again.
Now he's out here working out really hard going on.
He says he wants to play for New England Pittsburgh and he's actually had talks with Do it England, about playing good, 50 50 type guy out New England for Cam Newton.
I think that would be an excellent, excellent situation for him.
Um, obviously he needs.
He needs to go out there and still kind of like with Cam Newton.
You need to go out there and work out kind and look and see what he's what he's got available.
But that's a possibility of something to keep an eye on for later on.
For later on in the news it is.
And that could be, you know, sometimes ballot.
Jack makes these sort of under the radar signings.
I mean, I think he's played for half the league, right? I mean, he's bees.
He's bounced around a lot.
Um, listen, you know, I don't think there's a Buckeye that plays for the Patriots.
He got a former black eye on the team.
I'd probably get his jersey.
You know what I mean? Um, I would probably order is Jersey.
Again what I was going to say before he sent it over to you and I probably should have ways.
You know? What, does it hurt to bring them into camp? I mean, he's probably gonna come in and sign the veteran minimum.
Um, I don't have illusions of today being Clowney or you know, anything of that nature.
I actually think they're gonna pick up.
What's his name from the Giants? Um, the nose tackle.
The hell's name? Ah, Damon.
Ah, not Damon Harris.
I can't think of his name right now.
I think they're gonna pick up the ah nose tackle, though.
Um, I mean, throughout prior.
I mean, look, every year we bring in the Dontrelle in means the Marie's Harris is we bring in sort of these journey men.
Um, they'll sign on Patriots fans will say is the reincarnate Asian Randy Moss.
He probably gets caught before you. Nothing.
But I think, though to with the Patriots.
And you're at a point now where I'm watching patriots ands, pumping up the mere bird Amir bird and just sitting there going, huh? You mean like, okay, he's fast, but, you know, um, you know Amy to me, Terrelle Pryor is no different than Marqise Lee.
I guess I should say is you got a guy who's who's got a potential.
I think I've been disappointed in the keel, Harry, who was supposed to be a true 50 50 guy for the Patriots.
Maybe he started showing that this year.
Um, but yeah, I mean, it's ah, it's interesting if they give them more than the veterans minimum.
All really raise an eyebrow? Um, yeah, and I'm sure that you'll see page it Fans saying Super Bowl locked in.
We got Terrelle Pryor.
Uh, okay, that that's what land bases do, right? Yeah, that is how that's how fan bases work.
So I mean, we we got guys like Isaiah Rogers that was drafted by the Colts and Dearth.
Oh, many people, uh, that are colts fans just so up in arms over Isaiah Rogers and I'm like, he's like 1/6 round pick.
I mean, yeah, yeah, there's potential there, but he's a late round pick for a reason.
Yeah, I know in the future Hall of Famer, right? He's a future Hall of tired.
Trust me, the Patriots entire drop of class this year is going to the Hall of Fame.
So it's I love Fair it, man.
It's all about the fandom.
It's all about the fan hood.
Um, there was something else I wanted to say.
Oh, we're now we should probably mention this.
I'm sure that will have something to say about this tomorrow or on Wednesday.
But with the clock ticking, we're now two days away from the Dallas Cowboys and back Prescott, needing to get a deal done before he officially plays this year on the franchise tag.
I believe he's gonna play this season on the franchise tag.
You believe he's not gonna be a Dallas cowboy next year, so, uh, I think we're both in the greens.
He and nothing's gonna happen right in the next two days.
No, because Dak Dak, with that Mahomes contract being signed Oh, man, he's now looking at Well, I should get at least 45 a year.
You know, he's getting 50 you know? And I'm looking at it going.
You don't deserve 30 because you can't even win up.
You can't even get to the playoffs alone.
Win one. You all the talent you got around you.
Uh, so I mean, and yet if you talk to a lot of Dallas fans, Doc is the next coming of toy Aikman, you know, but better.
So what? Are we going to see that exactly? Well, but if you look at his steps that say everything you look at, half those stats are all or all of trash stats that late in the fourth.
One of teams already got, uh, two or three scores ahead of them, and they're playing previous, and he's just getting free yardage.
You know, free completions for yardage.
Because teams were playing, prevent defense makes ah, makes a lot of sense.
It's, you know, I mean, we've talked about Doc press constant death, and you guys haven't heard us talking about Dak Prescott.
You've never watched this show because I think he comes up at least twice a week.
We talk about background, we've dedicated hold one hour shows to Dak Prescott back to back.
I think all of this actually think that the his backup would actually be a better starter for the Cowboys.
Currently Than what Jack would be that the Cowboys would go further with, you know, the old Bangles quarterback.
Then what? That would be able to Ah, and Oh, my goodness.
I said that once in so many Cal Cowboys fans like Unfollowed on Block on Follow.
Uh, yeah, you know what I mean? Like, you're gonna protect your quarterback, right? You're gonna if anybody said to you, you know, Andy Dalton's a better picked and Andrew Luck.
You probably would have reached through the computer and grab him by the throat. Right.
If you know, if someone said to me handed out in the better Fifth and Tom Brady I probably would have smashed her at awful if anybody told me.
Now that Danny's also is a better fit over Cam Newton, I'd probably jumped the ticket here, so we're always gonna protect our boys and our guys.
You know, Dallas, You know, you've got a great running back. I'll give you that.
That's the only thing I can I can give. Dallas.
Hey, Speaking of which, speaking of which, there is something that I wanted to talk about that I thought was ridiculous.
And I hope I meant to save it in book market on Twitter.
And I hope I did, because I wanted have a nice of Joe was on to I would have loved to get his opinion.
What did you see? I think it was yesterday, Um, one of those webs, Like one of those writers they ranked the top fire knows today the NFL and the NFL dot com rank the top five.
Ah, running backs.
Not a quant. Bodily was number six.
What are your thoughts on that Marie? Strong former NFL running back has.
Okay, so number one, he's got Christian McCaffrey.
I don't think anybody's gonna argue that.
Right, Christian McCaffrey's the best running back in the league.
You know, Lawrence, that I am in Ezekiel Elliott.
Lover defender, Passionate.
I think he deserves every cent.
He got any cowboys fan who insults, um ripped that spar off your chest.
He's not the second best running back in the league, so calm Barkley is the second best running back in the league hands.
That smell is my opinion.
I don't understand.
How is number six? It makes zero sense to me.
I'll tell you why.
Because you can't listen to a dawn thing.
Maurice Jones, Drew says.
It's kind of like Dion Sanders.
He was a great player on the field and he funded Listen to for entertainment value.
But is it opinions? You just throw right out the window because he is incredibly biased towards certain teams and certain players.
He doesn't go by actual stats and and what a player could do his biased this steps in, right? So that's why I'm just like whatever he had.
Marlon, Matt Ah, at the end of the season last year, he had Marlon Matt listed beyond number 32 in the NFL.
Okay, so it wouldn't even he didn't even crack the top 32 which is I was just like he's by.
I asked because he was a Jacksonville Jaguar fan.
You know, that's all you could say.
No, and I agree with you 100% and I'm even looking like I was just comparing to Kwan and Zeke stats.
So even if he wanted to go buy stocks, they're almost identical.
Like they have almost identical statistics from a receiving from a Russian per yards per Sequana averages 4.
IK averages 4.5.
So even if you wanted to make the argument, Zeke is better than sick.
I don't agree with it, but I would accept it because I love Zeke.
It looks you heard me.
But uber heard me speak highly of Nick Chubb.
You've heard me speak highly of Joe Mix.
And I think that I think Nick Chubs one of the more underrated running backs in the NFL, please not the third fast.
He's not in front of shaquan, Barkley, and I don't care.
I look, I get Listen, Alvin.
Yeah, Alvin Kamara is a good running back, but I think way too many people put this guy on way too big of a pedestal.
Oh, yeah, well, I mean, he's kind of Dalvin cook ish.
Well, uh, I put them about saying and I think Dalvin cook and album Camara would would do equally on the same team.
Now I need to an air Cook is number eight.
Yeah, here's my Here's my situation.
But Coke has problems with injuries.
Um, when it comes to Zika Barkley and you're sitting there saying, Well, they're stats are almost equal.
Now you put Zeke behind that Giants offensive line.
Are those stats going to be equal? No.
No, I don't think it may be that far off off the okay.
Yah, Don't Don't make me rip.
Seek, Lawrence, you and I were not going to be.
Oh, but no, they will not be the same.
They will not be equal.
But I believe that that Zeke was still be solid with that offensive line.
But you're right.
I think so. Kwan really overtakes him.
If they switch roles and switch teams.
I fully agree that myself.
That's why I mean sick one doing what he's doing.
Like the whole situation with Barry Sanders.
You know, he did what he did with a terrible offensive line.
And, you know, um, Smith did it with a great offensive line.
So it's It's give and take.
It's apples and oranges.
Well, now here's the other one.
That kind of confused me.
Maybe it'll confuse you.
At number seven.
So you look again. I think so.
Kwan's number two.
So I got no issues with McCaffrey.
Sick Juan with Joe Mixon, Nick Chubb and Alvin Kamara are better than Derrick Henry again.
Drew is biased because he's a Jacksonville Jaguar right heart and always will be.
And Derrick Henry is a Titan.
And, yeah, how do you take the NFL rushing leader and say he's seventh best in the NFL? A guy who dragged his team to the A F C championship dragged his team to the A F C championship game, where I may add Joe that out of his top six in front of him on Lee one or Sorry, two of those guys even made the playoffs and Z wait.
Did the Cowboys make the playoffs? Would filling make the playoffs now the Cowboys made it right.
No, you made the playoffs.
No, sorry. No, they didn't.
They were They should have, but they know they did it. They blew it.
Philly went to the playoffs story.
One of those top six guys went to the playoffs, one of them, and yet Derrick Henry, who dragged his team into the playoffs and beyond is behind six other running backs.
Look, I know Maurice Jones.
Um, I have seen some of his takes in the past to that.
Just make me giggle in laughter.
But this has to be just a massive troll job, right? It has to be.
This has to just be a massive troll job on this.
Well, if you look, if you look at the running backs, the majority of those top running backs that he has on that list Yeah, running backs who are very good at receiving out of the backfield.
And I'm getting that.
But I mean, you need a running back position is about running the football protected, protecting the quarterback when he's held back.
When he's not running the football.
You know, those are the situations that you look at a running back receiving as a secondary nature.
It is something that that is a secondary to a running back.
Unless you're Christian McCaffrey or something like that.
But even then, you know, Yes, that's icing on the cake for Christian McCaffrey.
That's icing on the cake for album Camara.
If you're facing just off running back ability, being able to hit the hole and run or hit the line when there is no hole in certain shaquan.
Barclays cases, um, and make stuff happen and get good average yards per carry and not fumble the football.
And And when we don't have when the the ball is not handed off to you to be able to help in the past protection, because that is all also very important for running backs that is your main source of what you should go on for running back.
Uh, yes, your ability with the bat field should be added, but it should not be as near as important when you're rating running backs as your top two main priorities of water running back should do.
I agree it should end.
When you look at McCaffery, he's got 300 more rushing yards and he has receiving yards.
But I mean, McCaffrey's also for 2300 all purpose yards.
You mean? I mean, that's just like, Come on.
It no, like, that's the time.
That's video game numbers, right? That's unfair.
But yeah, I know.
So I think that was a good one to finish off on.
I just saw that today and went, Oh, my God.
You know, like I just I just How Derrick Henry and the Kwame Barkley aren't in the top five just made absolute zero sense to me.
The only one I agreed with him with Christian Pick Caffrey after number one.
I mean, look, you can have the bait, right? Where does Brady sit? On the altar? Timeless.
Where does Peyton sit on the all time was Where does my Tanis it on the all time list? I'll tell you what, though.
They're all in the top five, you know? So the debate is where in the top five.
Do they sit? Yeah.
Peyton managed not knocked out the top five because he slipped. Joe Flacco. Hlynur.
I must you, Joe.
Unless you know.
All right, Lawrence.
We did it, buddy.
We hit our our And I think we actually kept the pretty entertaining, so Oh, good on us.
