My guy is going on.
What you get up to during the corn.
Danny, have you busy or anything or just chillin? I've been chilling.
I've been I've been hoping a lot in the jam outside, running stuff like that.
I feel so well anyway, Sounds get ranches.
So I asked this before we started the stream.
But I want you can't tell people you're a down your sweatshirt And I know your instagram.
Your thing is sne and L'Ami.
What? What does that stand for? What's all about? Got you.
So that's like the little brain I'm starting.
My lord trend is called sme X Element, which stands for his success is never easy.
And loyalty means everything.
What? What? I guess like, is it gonna be like a clothing brand or trying to start your own jelly fan type of thing? What's like, what's kind of your goal? Yeah, It's gonna be like clothing, brain.
We're gonna have sweatshirts and starts releasing and stuff like that.
Pretty much just lot of merch.
How are you? How are you? Will kind of make a your own merchant.
How that kind of come to be, Um, So I've been I've been working with my family pretty much.
They know people that make that could, like footprints on shirts and different fonts and stuff like that.
So, yeah, they've been I've been looking on that team.
It's a lot lately.
You know at six.
So areas that let's go back to the beginning.
So when did you start playing basketball? I've been playing basketball since I was, like, 45 years ago.
Would have been playing the way you gains court up street.
I've been outside since I was little And just describe your style of play.
Um, I'm very energetic.
Clear, very energetic.
Think I love Teoh.
Pass the ball. Rebounded ball.
Is it? You know when I need you, you know it.
We need a bucket.
No, I'm probably pretty much the go to guy to get it, but, um, I love the rebound pass block shots.
Just do everything on the court.
Of course I do understand.
So what was that moment like when you found out that I guess when you have your first Dunkin, I gotta have that field.
It felt great. It was actually it.
My mom used to work in the school system, so when she worked in the school system, I would come up there now play basketball, and I was in seventh grade.
It was after practice, and I finally don't.
So Yeah, that's dope.
So I know you live in the Atlanta area.
I was like, Has so many great rappers there.
Well, one of them being ah, bunch of Cuervo.
So I'm here is known AU team like are a lot of rappers involved in all of basketball in Atlanta? Yes, actually, a lot of basketball players they love, they love.
I mean, a lot of rappers.
They love basketball.
So, you know, I've been in touch with point both since I played on team wiring last year.
Last eight you season and this upcoming season not complained with the Atlanta Celtics.
And they've also had they've gotten in touch with Young S******.
Did you know that is I've been in touch with him, too.
Yeah, what kind of like having relationship with not just basketball players but also ah, rappers as well is great.
It's great they you know, some of the rapper's, you know, as you may not know they grew up playing basketball and football and stuff like that.
So they give a lot of inside and advice in Texas, of course, and I understand things are starting to pick up with basketball.
There's obviously a few tournaments a few games.
So what was that kind of like coming back in the basket? Was it hard about the adjustment since you guys were off for probably a month or two? Actually not.
You know, I have been on the outside who picked I've been in a gym working with my dad, um, training with my EU team up everything.
I've just been playing basketball.
So is the easy transition.
Of course. Then.
And what's it like being a part of the ah, being part of Atlanta Celtics? They're arguably one of the nation's top AU programs.
Yeah, it is. Great. We had a lot of top players.
A lot of fun place to be around.
Um, it is a great experience.
Yeah, And I'm pretty sure you did have a ah tournament this weekend.
So, what was that like for you? Kind of give us a recap of that.
It was a great tournament.
We actually we want to ship, you know, um, championship Sunday, we we played against Team Curry team period of North Carolina, and it was good seeing, but we he came out on top.
Yeah, and another game that you guys had.
I don't think it was in this tournament opener was against TSF versa.
You guys, Atlanta Celtics and I know it was a very, very close game.
So what was that all like and break down that game for us? It was up and down.
Actually, it was, um, we Sometimes we'll have the moment, a moment swing that way, you know, they would be up by 11.
They'll come back with a closed down, will be about two.
They will push it back, they'll come back.
And who is this? A lot of is a lot of open down.
Yeah, And when the games were like that, How doesn't like, how do you kind of fuel, whether you're on the bench or in the game? Would you ever kind of get nervous when you're playing, like all we might my blow this like, how did you kind of feel mentally? Like I said, I'm a very energetic players.
When I was trying to, you know, cheer might seem it's on and and if I get in the game, you know, I try to do the little things.
Rebound blocked shot to make sure they don't score.
It stops on defense eventually.
If we're in a drought on offense and get it going, Yeah, of course.
And, uh, I feel like around America a lot of places that they talk about, like the talk about against New York basketball got the street basketball over there.
And, honestly, Chicago basket was always legendary.
I think Los Angeles starting become more respectable.
Book Atlanta I'm Georgia like they have a lot of, like, top talent up recently.
So can you kind of describe Atlanta basketball A little more? Uh, Atlanta breast.
But we have we have some.
I feel that Atlanta is the best sport.
I mean, I feel like Atlanta is the best.
Just the best place, you know, for basketball and sports in general.
You know, I feel like we go head to head with any any other state.
You will come out on top, of course.
And I want to talk about your crewman a little more.
I do know that you have a lot of top offers.
So what is that kind of been like for you with this whole recruiting process? Yeah.
I've had all college girls that they will contact my dad.
They are contact Yeah, my dad and my old coach from Lincoln Academy.
And, you know, they always let me know what coaches are recruited me where I get offers from place I have interest from and stuff like that.
And what was that moment like when you receive your very first Division one offer? It was great.
It was great. It was after one of my games.
And my coach, she it actually comes.
We really comes over sometimes.
You know, I was actually sleep.
I gotta takes missing.
And I opened it and he was Congratulations.
You receive your first offer from Xavier University? It was It was an amazing experience.
Now you said your first offer was from exam for a university.
I think a lot of players because But that's like a big time Big East programs.
A lot of players don't get there first Offer from a really top tier program.
So can you take us through that a little more? And at how you're probably able to get your very first offer from an extremely ah, powerful program? Yeah, it is a lot of hard work.
I've been trying to my bad for you know, since I was little since I was 78 Just been in the gym training, doing different drills, conditioning, no all types, things.
He finally paid off my ninth year, and I got my first off from Yeah, that's unbelievable.
And I'm just wondering, I guess besides, Xavier is used benching them.
What What other schools have been shoveling you? Ah, a lot more love compared to others on the schools that have been showing a lot of a lot of love.
Are you know Louisville? Louisville had been showing He's a grand Clemson.
They've kept inside.
It's Georgia George.
It take, um, Alabama has.
And a couple of the schools? Yeah, now one of the other offers or interest.
You haven't really know what it is, but I know I know.
Kentucky's on a on your list, and a lot of the players I've spoken to or I have walked their interviews.
They would always say people always ask what school you want to go to, and they said, Well, I don't really have a ah preference, but I've always been a big fan of Kentucky.
So what's that feel like for you knowing that they're interested in a guy like you.
Um, it's is is great.
You know, my dad, he actually played a Kentucky, and, you know, I would like to following his footsteps. Definitely.
Kentucky's a great schools.
Put a lot of players in the league.
It's just Yeah, that would be a great great expanse.
Yeah, it also now, since you guys haven't playing in a lot more games, tournament and have any schools in contact you like recently, they may be right after a game or after a tournament.
Yeah, I went through up and also Old Miss, you know, they've been to a lot of my games.
Um, who will? We had a lot of coaches tuned into our game this weekend at Lake One, actually, and know how Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Eggs, A viewer. They've all been soon dance.
They are wiped clean.
Yeah, and do you ever kind of get nervous when you know that? A lot of these Ah, a lot of these programs are watching you play during games Or do you kind of not know? Since they're all watching, I guess from their from their homes.
Yeah, I kind of figured out because late point coops they posted and stuff like that.
But I don't really get nervous.
I try to play my game.
I try to leave, you know, within within our offensive scheme and just stuff like that.
I try to, you know, do the little things pretty much rebound, blocked shots, play defense and score when I need it.
And I know you want in a lot of, Ah, a lot of visits all recently.
So which which ones have been your favorite? So far, My favorite have been Georgia.
George has been one of that.
That's how it might stop favor.
We They invited my plea.
My mom, my dad and me.
Tickets to a football game.
We watched the football game talk to stop train.
Um, great coach. A lot of knowledge.
It was a great experience.
How about did you have any allergies that you kind of liked as well? Or was George just to clear Number one? George has been It's been the Clinton.
I'd like most of the business that I've been on, but, um, Georgia.
That's probably the top for me.
Now, I'm just curious, because obviously I'm a Florida guy on the college would be going to use UCF.
I know you've gone there before.
So what you do on your visit there? Yes.
So we are. We actually toured.
Toured. They took us on a tour of the school.
You know, it's just like what the dorms looked like and walked on campus.
And it was pretty good.
You know, My whole team came with me.
My coach came and we had a tournament down there, and then they had interested meat.
So they let me come on campus.
We pretty much is tour.
I know, because obviously George is located.
Same saves you, but you've pretty much traveled to a lot of different places to go on visit.
So how have you kind of be able to handle all the way on the weekends? Or do sometimes with them a school for them? But how evil about balance out normal life and obviously you've got on.
So it's pretty much has been great with visits and my schedule because I play basketball, we travel a lot.
So Lincoln Academy, we went to a lot of different places and we went to, you know, New York.
Let's Alabama visited Alabama University.
Hofstra University visited a lot of other places.
But every time we have a tournament in the state that I have interesting, you know, the coaches maybe like, oh, they realize that I'm in state that come watch my games, they invite me on campus stuff like that.
So you said that they were Just watch your game and about you on camera, because that is it almost time.
Only a last minute visit.
Our Is this stuff planned, I guess.
Way ahead of time.
Okay, So my coach at Lincoln Academy, he was, you know, he was very in tune with college coaches, so he would know that we were going to say we go toe Alabama and three weeks, he'll schedule.
You know he'll schedule visited for me.
And when I get there, the culture come to my game.
There's no talk stuff like that.
And then, you know, like 23 days later, when we're on or about to go back and I will go to the campus, tour around, talk to the coaches, meet some of the players and we'll be on our way back to George.
And one of those discussions, Like with you and the coaches at the schools.
Um, there really? They're really intimately.
You can say they're interested.
Um, they pretty much talk about, you know, their school and how it would benefit me and how it would benefit the team for me being there and stuff like that.
I want to go back to those.
Are those Georgia offers to the I know you have one from Georgia about some interest in Georgia Tech.
Are you in any way leading towards those schools? Since they're located out closer to you, I'm I give everybody a fair chance.
You know, every college, we definitely have a fair chance with me.
Um, you know, if I get an awful go, have no high interests, low interest, it doesn't really matter as long as if I have an offer from you.
And I feel like you're a good school and you could benefit me.
I could benefit your program.
I would definitely consider, of course, And looking at your offers, I mean, you can pretty much play on wherever you want whatever conference, whatever state.
Is there any conference that kind of Oh, I think, Yeah.
I think you left first.
Like a whole on guys will be, Uh, will be right back.
I don't know what's going on. Isaac.
I see you're in here.
Appreciate you guys.
Tune in. All right, He's back right now.
You good, isn't it? So, anyways, I know you got Oh, yeah, I remember the question.
So you pretty much offers from all over.
You can play wherever you want.
Has there ever been on a specific conference? They've kind of dreamed of playing in Or do you not really cares.
And now I don't really have a specific conference that I dreamed of playing in, but I do have, you know, as I said, my dad went to Kentucky, so I would like to really follow in his footsteps in Kentucky.
Shows major interest.
Then you know, that would be great for me and my family were just amazing.
Before I want to throw out a quip, I guess.
General basket question out there.
So I want to know if you're playing a game.
What's I guess? What type of defense that you want the team to be using against use without you kind of score a little bit easier.
I would definitely say that 23 zone is is, you know, if you it's pretty much easy cause it's two of the top in three of the bottom.
So, you know, if you stay in the gap, if they don't push up, you shoot it.
Did they come up? You know, you drive your hip gaps and you can hit teammates, teammates, you know, use cross court passes and all types of stuff is just a lot of advantages into three.
Of course, that now.
And I want to talk about the rankings a little bit more.
I know you don't just posted on your instagram story something of, ah, of the Georgia 2022 rankings.
Ah, you were put in there.
So I want to know.
What was that like? To just be that it was actually great, because, you know, I've been definitely working a lot working hard, you know, in the gym all the time.
And as a 23 weeks ago, I was considered as a three star.
But now you know, the ESPN has me as a four star right now and, you know, pushing for that five star ranking.
And Yep, pretty much Just because you are said that home I'm going to edit right now.
I'll make out a four star. You should.
You should have told me.
I was not. I wasn't harder, Senator.
Just came out last year.
Got yourself four scar on on the podcast.
So something else that happened, you posted this guy was kind of Ah, this guy's kind of hating on you.
Like I don't know what his deal wise, cause if I'm like I was on a few hours like that, But how we can do you or do you want to hate? Um, you know, I tryto I try to not respond.
I'm very I'm a very humble person.
I try not to respond to stuff like that, but that one inches really took me off guard because I've been I've been non ranks for, you know, pretty much my whole life.
And into three weeks ago, I was finally rented.
A three star people started to recognize me.
And then, you know, I did great in these couple big tournaments that we had, so they my ranking got boosted.
And, you know, this is people that come out of nowhere, you know? Just Hayden, but it is good.
Oh, I really you know, I don't respond much, but yeah, that with that one, had to be addressed.
Of course, Something.
I was a little bit curious.
When were you getting Division One offers When you on warrant ranked.
Actually, I got both of my division one office when I wasn't When I wasn't, I was not right when I got eggs bigger and my also my other offer from clips you pretty much just received Teoh.
So when you weren't ranked, you received two.
Like they weren't like Weber minute received two high major offers.
What do you were at ranks And what were you kind of thinking in your mind? This is a little bit.
Ah, look, What were the what was going through your mind the whole time? Pretty much.
I was just thinking, you know, I've been I've been working hard, You know, I feel like I deserved those offers and I feel like, you know, I had people in my corner that helped me get those offers.
You know, my family, they've shown they've always been around my dad.
He helped also my mom.
She's been great.
Supported me, my coach from Lincoln Academies.
You know, it's let's get a lot of things, of course.
And my final question for you is What do you want to be remembered as when you step away from the game of basketball? I want this I want to be compared to You know that they says it right now.
You know, Lebron's the Michael Jordan's.
You know, people think Steph occur.
You know, Katie, I want to be compared to all of them.
Yeah, most definitely not before we have before in the show is anything you want.
Toe plugger shot out before we are cooked.
Oh, my definitely shot on my family.
Know my mom for being supportive of everything I do my dad for training me for no the longest time, my grandparents just for being supportive.
Everybody pretty much everybody in my corner family, cousins, friends, coaches, everybody, Of course, though, uh, anyways, make sure you guys follow something scream often did you see at the bottom at our hoops? I fell in at Jena and truth.
So anyways, for Ah, for now, four star Jalen Crew.
I'm Isaac Flexner.
There's been another eyes move. Small bowel podcast.
Piece out, guys.
I hope you guys have a great week. See you later.
