Hi, I'm Matt Williamson, with er Barker here to give you my state of the Washington Redskins address.
But obviously, the big topic right now around this franchise is the name of the team with a new coach in place.
Now in Ron Rivera.
All of these experienced coach, a second year quarterback and with a franchise that always seems to be in flux in some way state or for no shape or form, this probably isn't a good situation in terms of how it could possibly carry over to the field in a negative manner.
That aside, Washington is slated to play a very difficult schedule this year.
But while their record at the end of the upcoming 2000 season might not reflect it when it's all said and done, I expect this seem to be much more competitive than the three and 13 team that earned the second overall pick in the draft last year.
It was outscored by 169 points in 2019.
This seem rarely played with the lead.
Last year it was quite poor in time possession.
As you would imagine, Washington was near the bottom of league and pretty much all offensive categories last year, including allowing far too many sacks.
A few seems a few seem to realize it, but Dwayne Haskins finished his rookie season quite strong.
He did some excellent work in the pocket while valuing the football.
I can experience veteran.
I think there's a lot of hope there and the staff and team seems dedicated the second year passers.
So I also think Terry McLaurin will go on to establish himself as a true number one wide receiver.
And that is a term I do not throw around loosely at all.
But the rest of us receiving corps is quite concerning and there are quite a few holes in this offensive line up tight end and particularly stands out.
But the addition of Chase Young Washington could feature truly elite young defensive line that causes major problems week after week.
They should consistently generate a lot of pressure without having to blitz, which is ideal, obviously, concerning how weak Washington right now is in their secondary, which is a little area needs work as well.
One item of note that is encouraging those according to football outsiders Injury metric.
This this one only one team in the NFL had worst injury.
Lock them Washington in 2019 something that's bound to improve at the end of the year.
The wind total might not heavily reflected, but I do think this will be an improved football team and maybe one really strong season after the 2020 season concludes to go a long way to really building this team.
I am Matt Williamson with your border.
