00:00:41
We have a new unwrapped this portion that's been going out now.

00:01:00
Just really taken this new kind of live streaming game that we really did last year with SportsCastr going to keep doing it with them.
00:01:08
As you see, we've been a lot more active as of lately here on a get shot out to SportsCastr, always doing such great things.
00:01:14
His co host feature is awesome.
00:01:16
So it's gonna be a lot of us send kind of collaborative streams that you see.
00:01:20

00:01:24
And we're actually 10 talks with Nick to get it on here as well simultaneously when we're streaming on Twitter and other places.
00:01:32
So a lot of great news enough about the network Lets get Ryan introduced here.
00:01:36
What? Somebody.
00:01:37
Thank you so much for joining me.
00:01:38
I'm pumped to be talking with one of my newest unwrap sports family members here.
00:01:41
Yeah, I'm so happy to be a part of this great organization and network.
00:01:45
Ah, little bit myself.
00:01:46
I'm a college student.
00:01:47
I goto I got Ole Miss, uh, also in my sop****re year, Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida So I have roots in college football throughout the South.
00:01:57
Also.
00:01:58
Big Yankees fan In baseball, I can get down pretty much any sport if you want.
00:02:03
If you want to talk soccer, I could talk soccer.
00:02:05
Go talk hockey if you want.
00:02:07
I'll talk bowling if you really want.
00:02:10
I mean, at this point, like there's so many random sports on.
00:02:15
I was like Korean baseball.
00:02:17
I'll take it like let's do it like, you know, I woke up for a snack like four in the morning of the day and Korean baseball was started.
00:02:24
I just never backed electric.
00:02:29
It is.
00:02:31
It is interesting to this.
00:02:32
It's really interesting to see, like how sports like NASCAR, who which is obviously big with, you know, certain places, is in the South, especially its massive kind of thing.
00:02:43
But I think right now, especially with Bubble Wallace and other stuff, too.
00:02:46
But even the fact that just there's not a lot of sports on and NASCAR is one of the active sports, regardless, if anything happened with Bubba or anything else with NASCAR, there has to be more eyes on sports right now.
00:02:59
Different sports that usually don't get much attention.
00:03:01
Just cause the power of sports.
00:03:02
We're kind of taking a back seat, you know? Absolutely.
00:03:05
Did you get a chance to see before the actually came back? And this is probably Marcher, I think, April when they did the eye racing simulator stuff on Fox.
00:03:14
I did.
00:03:15
Yeah, I did.
00:03:16
Yeah.
00:03:17
That was such a good thing for the recent company actually went out, bought a wheel, and now I do that time.
00:03:23
Okay.
00:03:24
Other than that I was listening to Ah, it was It was an interview with Clint Boyer and he was talking about the ratings that the fox got off just the eye racing.
00:03:34
But when there was nothing else on TV and it was remarkable how many people were watching a five video? No, definitely.
00:03:41
Yeah.
00:03:42
And you see, East Forces obviously gonna taken a big rise anyways with 2020 and technology.
00:03:47
But now that we can't physically do the same amount of sports in person like it's almost a necessity to get into E sports now and have some sort of presence in that kind of sphere. So I see.
00:03:58
I mean, SportsCastr alone, you could follow their new page.
00:04:00
It's E SportsCastr like they have a whole thing there.
00:04:02
I could see all the things that they're doing, like it's pretty. It's inevitable.
00:04:06
I mean, you could see SportsCastr is how twitches for different things in regards to streaming video games.
00:04:12
It's the same thing here with sports coverage and stuff like that.
00:04:15
So it's really cool to see how it's all kind of coming together now.
00:04:18
And we're all really learning.
00:04:19
The INS announce, I guess, of technology in different ways that we could still enjoy things which is really weird toe after adapt this way.
00:04:26
But also, I mean, I appreciate sports more than I ever have in my life.
00:04:31
I know I love sports, but now I really know I ****ing loves for three another with badasses Pandemic is it really has shown us how influential and impactful sports are in our lives.
00:04:41
That we will go to watching fake sports through video games just to have a little bit of that feeling right of just six months six months ago, which was around the time I believe of the Super Bowl, which feels like 10 years ago at this point, right? No, definitely so I know, I know.
00:04:59
You go to all miss where you're at right now.
00:05:01
I think you said Florida, right? Yeah.
00:05:03
I'm from Jacksonville, Florida.
00:05:04
Like an hour north of Daytona? Yeah.
00:05:06
So? So how those things out there.
00:05:08
I know, because I know obviously they were one of the first places to host.
00:05:11
You have see events.
00:05:13
They obviously are hosting the n B. A bubble.
00:05:16
So how is the landscape in Florida? I guess as a state, is it different in different parts of it, or is it really just a statewide different field? It really is different.
00:05:24
Different parts of it.
00:05:25
The most people in the state live, but either in Orlando or South.
00:05:31
And so most of the cases are heavily concentrated into three lower townies, which are Miami Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County s.
00:05:40
A lot of the cases air there.
00:05:41
At least that's how it was early on.
00:05:43
And then we've all we opened up pretty early, and we for about I believe it's five weeks, had just really good numbers.
00:05:50
And then all of a sudden, every state and I think they call it the Sun Belt.
00:05:55
Uh, all shot up recently I don't that they're investigating why, but I was like five weeks of good stuff and then just number skyrockets.
00:06:05
But I was all excited for the UFC event when I heard it was coming because my cousin's birthday was the same day and I was like, OK, we can go to this And then they just said no fans, so I had to buy it, and we have, like, 20 people over. It was great.
00:06:16
That's awesome.
00:06:17
But I can't right and 10.
00:06:20
Yeah, makes were CDC.
00:06:21
If you're listening way exactly, you know, and that's the thing.
00:06:29
Like, you never want to generalize anyplace ever.
00:06:32
But, you know, you definitely have seen there's a reason why sports are happening in Florida right now.
00:06:36
There's a reason why you're you're hearing those things, and that's because they are opening quicker.
00:06:41
They are more receptive, are more open to trying to get this back and rolling.
00:06:45
If you want to look at that in a negative light or a positive light, that's up to you.
00:06:48
It's just a clear kind of thing that Florida is clearly on the forefront of trying to be one of those hosts.
00:06:55
Places toe least do these trial runs, get a feel for what's gonna work, what's not gonna work.
00:07:00
And, you know, I like I said, I think initially, and I think I might be a negative thing.
00:07:04
But, I mean, I guess I kind of have to happen somewhere and, you know, at the same time, to like, I really don't know what to make of it.
00:07:10
But I definitely think it's interesting I'm pumped for because other than college sports, the professional teams in Florida happened.
00:07:17
Lacking forever between the Jaguars, Dolphin will get.
00:07:20
The Buccaneers are gonna look pretty good this year, but baseball wise, football wise, other in the Bucks.
00:07:26
Professional sports fans have had nothing to look forward to, especially since LeBron left Miami.
00:07:31
And with the N b a bubble happening in Orlando, it's going to give Floridians from around the state.
00:07:36
Even people around Florida.
00:07:38
Georgia arrested the South something that they can really rally behind, just like NASCAR was for non NASCAR fans.
00:07:44
People that might not watch basketball in the South.
00:07:46
There could really be hopefully get into it more, right.
00:07:50
I mean, like like you said, everyone craves sports.
00:07:52
Right now, it's less of like what am I used to? What a my custom to any more of like what's available right now, Like, you know, that's kind of the best you can get.
00:07:59
No, my favorite sports baseball football that's on basketball.
00:08:03
But I would kill for just any form of a sport with a ball moving across grass.
00:08:07
That's something I'm looking forward to.
00:08:09
Rio? No, absolutely.
00:08:10
And I just was listening to the unwrapped this baseball stream.
00:08:14
So they just finished that If you didn't if you missed it, of course.
00:08:16
Go check it out on the Unwrap Sports Twitter, My Twitter MLB unwrapped Twitter.
00:08:21
Alex is Twitter, Jessie's Twitter.
00:08:22
It's on five s, so there's a lot of places you could see it.
00:08:25
Like I said, we're going to getting it hooked up with SportsCastr.
00:08:27
Try and get it on here, but during the baseball stream, obviously it gets you excited just talking about sports again.
00:08:33
But it's just interesting to hear so many different people's opinions on how we're gonna come back, what's gonna happen and and everyone, I guess, their predictions and opinions on it.
00:08:42
I'm curious to hear yours on really starting sports during the bubble.
00:08:47
I guess you can use the baseball season or or the bubble if you prefer either one of those, considering they're both coming back pretty much at the same time.
00:08:54
So I guess use either one of them or both as Teoh.
00:08:57
Use your opinion on how you think sports is gonna come back.
00:09:01
Naturally, how you think it has to come back for it to work? Well, there's two General trained the box of trying to come back, which is exactly what you said between the bubble in baseball, because baseball allowing people to go home on then come to the field whereas basketballs law locking people down in Orlando, which is probably the best place you can lock him down business because everything's there.
00:09:22
But baseball's allowing people come to and from.
00:09:25
And that just test, I think when they get there every day, which is basically saying that I think baseball is just accepting the fact that everyone is probably gonna eventually get it, and they're just tryingto get games out there.
00:09:38
Whereas basketball is just trying to shut it down that way.
00:09:41
No one in the facility gets it, so there's two trains of thought and only times really gonna tell which one works the best.
00:09:49
And I guess it depends on your view of what works the best Everyone could make something better for themselves.
00:09:53
But it's really just to be time telling And who who makes it look better? I'm just excited for sports.
00:10:00
Come back. No, I am too.
00:10:01
Absolutely.
00:10:02
And obviously you have to think the bubble is gonna work better just because of the fact that you're taking precautions.
00:10:06
To not let things in her out like that has to be the way that you think is gonna be the more logical way.
00:10:12
But also, like you said, we have no idea it could be a system where that is bubbling.
00:10:18
And when something goes wrong in the bubbles when the bubble blows up, you know, And that's all right.
00:10:23
So I could see it going wrong as well.
00:10:25
I mean, you have to be able to see it go wrong to you can't be a complete optimist, but the NASCAR, I believe, is doing something similar to what baseball is doing in terms of people can stay at their homes.
00:10:36
And there's no practice, which they normally have, like multiple day the practice and qualifying and what the driver's air do you know if they're pulling up and then they get to their trailer, they don't leave the trailer until they're told to go to the car.
00:10:48
So they go directly from there to the car race and leave well, Jimmy Johnson, who's one of the best ever in NASCAR, recently got a Corona virus.
00:10:56
Like I think it was last Friday.
00:10:58
Yeah, I was like between the Mist, the Mist, this week's race.
00:11:01
He tested negative today.
00:11:02
I think he's already good to go, which I thought was just riel.
00:11:06
But that just shows complexity to this thing.
00:11:10
Some people could have it for two months easily and then really suffer.
00:11:13
And then Jimmy Johnson's just like I have.
00:11:15
Nothing really happened.
00:11:16
I mean, I took a week off like that that that it's Pat Mahomes last year.
00:11:25
It's like, Yeah, the guy could be out 88 weeks, 10 weeks.
00:11:28
The guys back to say after a week, we could have.
00:11:32
He's like, Yeah, it was a nice week with my girl, like I'm back.
00:11:35
Don't worry about me kind of things like what? You know.
00:11:38
But at that It's more proven medicine, like injuries in the past.
00:11:42
This is a pandemic.
00:11:43
We don't know.
00:11:44
We're dealing with still trying to figure it out.
00:11:45
But, you know, obviously, right now, the best we can hope for is sports to come back in some capacity, us get through this and stuff.
00:11:52
But, you know, I guess my question for you is what is that limit? Let's use the N B A bubble for an example.
00:11:59
Where does it become time to pull the plug like Is that 345 tests And you have to quarantine these people? Is that an outbreak in the bubble? Like I'm curious to know where you think that line is drawing.
00:12:12
Of course, you're not gonna have an exact answer.
00:12:14
But you know this curious to know where that becomes.
00:12:17
Okay, we have separate isolation, plays places for these people, and we go by protocol.
00:12:22
It should just be business as usual or okay, this is now becoming, like, borderline a major risk.
00:12:29
Well, with the bubble, everyone's either in this not not maybe on the same room, but they're all on top of each other, kind of like a college dorm and just come in from that last year, it's still in.
00:12:39
Someone gets down the hall against it.
00:12:41
You might not even know if you're going to get it.
00:12:43
So I think assumed it starts inside the bubble.
00:12:46
That's the main negative.
00:12:47
It's gonna Pappas soon as you have 1 to 2.
00:12:49
If they're not willing to let it run its course, they're gonna have to pull the plug.
00:12:54
Couldn't even lettuce.
00:12:55
Once it's in that the let it happen and just let it happen, let it happen as much they can and try to limit it.
00:13:01
Or they just have to pull the plug and ended for the year.
00:13:04
It's it's either one of the other.
00:13:06
Yeah, and it's all theoretical.
00:13:07
Obviously, you know, it's just looking into it now, But you do have to look at those, like what if things.
00:13:11
And obviously these commissioners, these massive, multi a jillion dollar associations are obviously thinking about the what ifs and putting in these plans in place.
00:13:19
But I don't know if they're gonna announce them publicly like, I don't know if that's even our right to know exactly what protocols would be if these things were toe happen like it's not necessarily public information, but I think without the media plays a part in 2020 and how everything has to be so much more transparent than it used to be back in the day.
00:13:39
Like it's so tough to just sweep something under the rug or deal with things and not be able to let the media in on it without it seeming fishy and you're dealing with the pandemic and feels lives.
00:13:48
I think keeping it on the low or doing things without full transparency might seem even worse, you know.
00:13:54
So I would assume they'd kind of wrap everybody up in, you know, the news and let everybody upto, you know, on the same page with the very least, right, even if the owners and the league try to cover it up.
00:14:06
Players at Twitter man, every player has their phone.
00:14:09
They're not gonna shut the wife.
00:14:10
I often talk it down.
00:14:13
Just just imagine this bubble locked down like officer way.
00:14:20
Don't know what happened.
00:14:21
Like we know we have no idea what happened.
00:14:23
Like the wife. I just went away.
00:14:25
A tower going floated.
00:14:27
I don't I know, but the Sooners one person gets it someone's going to tweet out like, Oh, I'm feeling sick in that I I remember what I'm not the biggest basketball fan, but I happened to be watching when everything was getting told that day while I was watching the Mavericks and everything which is getting shut down.
00:14:45
I was like, What is happening? It was just being bang bang.
00:14:49
It's gonna happen like that If that's the route being choosing the tank, if one person gets it, do you see a route for the NFL at all? Like, do you see this Stephen being possible? Because I know like I I think so, too.
00:15:03
Just in my heart, I really think with how the owners move and how this roles like it happens.
00:15:07
But I haven't seen any proposal for a plan, and there's no bubble idea.
00:15:13
There's no here's say there's nothing, I think, the reasoning behind that because football this.
00:15:18
I mean, you could argue basketball, but thanks for you argue for baseball being a context, work, clothes, everybody.
00:15:24
Football's a contact.
00:15:26
It's not even close.
00:15:27
Yeah, right. You're on top of each other.
00:15:29
You're stacked on each other, you're in huddles.
00:15:31
There's no way around it even just the defensive linemen in the offensive linemen setting up on given play.
00:15:37
They're practically kissing each other, you know, they're right there in each other.
00:15:40
His throat, like that's right.
00:15:42
There is gonna be a risk.
00:15:43
You know the same thing with door rooms.
00:15:45
I've been there, done that with the college or would not call it climate.
00:15:48
I played line.
00:15:49
It's Yeah, it's just like that.
00:15:51
You are on top of each other every day, there in practice and for games.
00:15:55
So I I think football.
00:15:57
There's too much money in football.
00:15:58
For it not to happen.
00:15:59
There's too many jobs.
00:16:00
I think the same thing for college.
00:16:02
But what I was thinking for colleges is what I want your thoughts on.
00:16:06
Unlike the NFL, is there a point that colleagues will follow that the fans in the band? I don't think it is.
00:16:12
I just don't see it either.
00:16:13
I mean, it's not the same kind of entity as a professional kind of league where it's a business.
00:16:19
This is an entertainment entity like we're just hitting a point where were barely thinking about giving players flexibility toe make money off their likeliness and, um, you know their name and stuff like that.
00:16:31
So I think they've been trying to squeeze money out for a long time.
00:16:34
But it it's also not the same kind of marketable game that a professional and there's There's no contracts involved, like you said, like beyond staff and personnel and commitments.
00:16:47
And, of course, people only having certain years of eligibility.
00:16:51
But it's not like you got a guy that's worth X $1,000,000 for five years, you know that you're committed to, and I this guy and this guy and these TV deals and even though you, of course, it's still a business dancing Double A is just a crazy ****ing Tracy business like they are.
00:17:08
It's a money sucking business when people don't make a lot underneath them.
00:17:11
But at the same time, I don't see them pushing the envelope because of the fact that schools are so spread out.
00:17:17
You have so many young adults that are technically their responsibility and not under contract.
00:17:23
Instead, students, and to think about them just being willing to put their lives at line.
00:17:28
Ah, and even like football in general like it's why a 53 man roster when you read.
00:17:33
We cut it all down like it even becomes.
00:17:37
What's college? Holly? I was gonna say it's more right, like so I mean, you're putting that in perspective.
00:17:44
Against what? A baseball team that has nine people in their starting lineup, as well as pictures and so on, and then the basketball team that, you know, you could only have 16 people tops on the team, I believe.
00:17:54
So you're you're gonna roll with sometimes 14 people, maybe even less.
00:17:57
You only sometimes people have only played eight people in a rotation for of ask, wanting 89 people just like a baseball team.
00:18:03
Football is just a different game, especially college football.
00:18:06
I think is definitely a more profitable game in college basketball except for the tournament that the tournament is, Ah, big money maker.
00:18:14
But we didn't even see the tournament this last year.
00:18:17
We just missed the total.
00:18:18
You think we're going to see it again this year? I, you know, it's I can't envision where college is up for it.
00:18:24
I think I did.
00:18:26
You see that the visit of the Alabama there Chancellor or their A. D.
00:18:31
Was at the White House, the other day and Trump said, Ah, he asked, like, Are we gonna see Alabama playing this year? Is it gonna happen? And he was like, where he was given the look divided like it's gonna happen one way or the other.
00:18:44
And then another thing I was hearing, it was the head of the SEC said. For football's.
00:18:49
If, if everyone else cancels and we have the host in that after all championship in Atlanta for the SEC championship, it's gonna happen.
00:18:57
I'm a firm believer.
00:18:58
The FCC will be.
00:18:59
At least the SEC will either play in the fall or maybe move to the spring.
00:19:05
That way, you could have a full attendant that the SEC is just a different game.
00:19:09
Two sec is just so big and so profitable.
00:19:13
And all college sports it this, of course.
00:19:16
But if you put that up against even a even lower division one kind of conferences and stuff like that, it's not even in comparison to the kind of money that they're bringing in a school like Alabama.
00:19:27
They don't have a professional sports team there that is their professional sports team, like next.
00:19:33
Saving isn't God like, Oh my gosh, you're not kidding.
00:19:38
Another point, though, is that I don't think a lobular thought about is you were talking about the N.
00:19:43
C.
00:19:44
A.
00:19:46
Making money and all those other places I know I can speak from experience in terms of Southern schools.
00:19:50
Most of the schools in the Southeastern Conference are located in smaller towns that make 90% of the revenue during the 34 months.
00:19:58
And it's just like tourism.
00:20:00
It's just like tourism with a place that's not usually bumping.
00:20:03
But there's tourism season.
00:20:04
It's the same thing for some of these places.
00:20:06
They rely on college sports absolutely, like I know, uh, because we all had to leave campus and were all sent home to do remote stuff in March, right after spring breaks of March.
00:20:18
I Oh, sorry, I have a friend that lives in my column Sound full time, he said.
00:20:21
Like a couple of businesses have already shut down the last stuff.
00:20:25
I don't want to know what's gonna happen if House football doesn't happen one way or the other, right? Yeah, People outraged If there's, I feel that if football, college football NFL are things different? If college football can't happen with fans in the fall they need.
00:20:39
The seriously considered is pushing to the spring.
00:20:42
Yeah, I I agree.
00:20:43
Having the same time you're messing with kids eligibility and stuff like that, too, because they are still going to school online.
00:20:50
They are still finishing the year off.
00:20:52
What is the do then? Like if they don't put a season on? Do they give these kids that option tohave that extra year of eligibility? And they normally would like Do they go on, bend the rules like it's so hard to tell at this point to.
00:21:05
And by the way, I want to thank red, white and blue socks for the tip of 20.
00:21:08
That's cool.
00:21:09
Thank you so much for the love we really do appreciate everybody that has tuned in with us tonight.
00:21:14
Seriously, very much love to you guys and check out the rest of the SportsCastr.
00:21:17
Unwrap sports team SportsCastr dot com slash unwrapped.
00:21:21
You could find anybody with a U.
00:21:22
S N at the end of their name, just like me and Ryan here.
00:21:26
So there's a little ah, mid stream plug, but you know, it's again, man.
00:21:31
Like, for example, I saw the Ravens today they said Look like if we do open for fence our capacities 14,000 people.
00:21:40
Is that is that worth it? I mean, yes, cause that in comparison to Noboa, but he is more money for them and more of an experience for people that are willing to sign away.
00:21:51
I mean, you're what? You're gonna have to sign a waiver.
00:21:52
You're gonna have Teoh.
00:21:54
You know, do that for sure. Absolutely.
00:21:56
I mean, in those people that are saying if there was a requirement to where a HAZ mat suit to go watch a game, they would and that I probably would, too, if it's I'm a big Cowboys fan.
00:22:07
If if the Rams the Cowboys are coming to play the Rams Week one.
00:22:12
If they said Perry, you can go and it has not to I would be there in two HAZ mat suits overlapping each other.
00:22:18
I do not be bubble boy.
00:22:19
I don't care what I gotta do.
00:22:20
I want to be there, you know? But I also understand I don't want to put myself at risk if it's not feasible.
00:22:26
What what I think sense.
00:22:28
Everything's remote.
00:22:29
Anyways, I my I think football should happen in the fall in, uh, allow fans at least students for this simple reason, at least in the South again.
00:22:41
But I know schools such as Alabama are already hosting Corona.
00:22:44
Party scene.
00:22:45
Who can get it first? I think if that's happening, if you want to go to the game, signed the Labour, go ahead.
00:22:52
I mean, why lock everyone indoors that we're already doing this? There's no point in our game.
00:22:56
It's selector tackling the players.
00:22:58
Yeah, it's it's it's so interesting.
00:23:00
And that's the thing because you have to also take in consideration like the school Israel is.
00:23:06
You guys in their responsibility, You know, technically, when you rolled in their school, it's not like, ah, bunch of crazy Dodger fans or, you know, something like that where it's like, Yeah, they paying for a ticket.
00:23:17
They're grown adults.
00:23:18
They don't have any association beyond the transaction they made today and that they're a fan.
00:23:22
But you know, if something happens to you like they're liable.
00:23:25
Technically, you know.
00:23:27
So absolutely, there's all the parents that come in there.
00:23:30
There's all of the sponsors.
00:23:31
There's all of things that it's like, yeah, you know, it makes more sense to have the kids go.
00:23:36
You'll bring in the money here.
00:23:38
But then you got to figure the aftermath of what? If, you know, it's, you know, you know, screw it.
00:23:43
Just kind of let him go for it.
00:23:44
Like, what are the implications there? You know, actually, one thing that is I'm struggling positive for sir? Sure I can.
00:23:52
For college, kid like this is your experience.
00:23:54
Like you.
00:23:55
You want to be there If you can't.
00:23:56
I totally understand.
00:23:57
What the Arizona State you know, I was getting at at the games to do my thing, so it would have killed me if I couldn't be.
00:24:04
Yeah, absolutely.
00:24:05
I just can't imagine.
00:24:07
I can't imagine.
00:24:09
Just imagine I can.
00:24:10
Waking up in October on Saturday breakfast and looking for the games.
00:24:16
That's just it's just gonna ruin the whole fall over me.
00:24:20
You know for sure you have.
00:24:22
You have a whole life.
00:24:23
You have a whole lifetime to do that life.
00:24:26
Wake up in March.
00:24:28
No, for real? No, seriously.
00:24:29
And like you said, Yeah.
00:24:32
No. Keep going.
00:24:34
You said Ole Miss To is like a dedication kind of thing Like you.
00:24:39
You guys care about sports like Alabama cares about sports like Do they care about sports more than health? Like maybe, you know, like that's That's the question I ask.
00:24:48
We ask, you know, like I can firmly say, Alabama cares more about sports.
00:24:55
You like big time.
00:24:59
Oh, man.
00:25:00
But at that point and what is it? Survival of the fittest? Oh, yeah, obviously, I tell.
00:25:05
Remember rules.
00:25:06
I drove through there not too long before Mitt Corona fully went down and then already haven't signed out for college football.
00:25:13
And it was February.
00:25:16
It's just a soon as college football's over, that town goes on pause and count down the days till with an August September.
00:25:26
That's insane, like And that zit.
00:25:28
I don't get that cause in California.
00:25:29
Like I always tell people they're like, Oh, like Lakers traditional history, Dodgers.
00:25:34
Such a franchise.
00:25:35
Guests, of course, were They were almost accustomed to winning in the past, of course, But the passion for sports in California is not anywhere close to Midwest in the East Coast, and I know that I know tons of people on both ends, you know, going to the school.
00:25:49
I went to add so many friends there were these coast, you know, I I didn't depths and working with the network right now as well, like there's so many people that air from all different parts of the country and out of the country.
00:26:00
The passion in California is not as quite toe the throat intense as you get in the Midwest and in the East Coast for college sports, for professional sports, for anything you asked me like someone was like, Oh, do clippers and Lakers fans hate each other? And I was like No, like, not at all.
00:26:17
Like not even intense like that.
00:26:19
Like even like what? If you, a Dodger fan, saw an Angels fan wearing their gear in their turf like, would they get that? That's how this works here.
00:26:28
You know, it's not like Boston Red Sox and Yankees like, you know, used to get killing each other over that stuff like that.
00:26:34
Like it's not the scream thing here.
00:26:36
I guess so.
00:26:37
I just I'm so passionate.
00:26:38
I'm so crazy with stuff.
00:26:40
So there's people different people all over the world.
00:26:42
You can't generalize places, of course, but I just don't see those cutthroat, passionate people the same way on the West Coast, I guess.
00:26:52
Yeah, I can speak for her stand.
00:26:54
I I think I remember sitting in the student section this past year l s u came to town and Joe Burroughs here and people are yelling murders costing out Joe Baroque.
00:27:03
They haven't warming up in our ends and that was probably funded and then asking for his autograph.
00:27:08
That was the funny part.
00:27:10
But no, I remember there was one l s U fan in the whole student section and that it's a violent man.
00:27:15
It's definitely fisticuffs violent, but it's definitely a passion for everybody in this region for college sports and professional sports and saying, I don't know Jaguars game in a while, but it's people carry it over to the That's That's what I was gonna ask you.
00:27:30
Like, How is that? Have you been to like a Buccaneers game like the Rays like? Is that passion carry over all over the place? Or is it just like certain? A lot of college I goes? Obviously, I'm more upset.
00:27:43
I'm here, but I've been to Jags games.
00:27:45
I've been in a couple seasons, but I've been to Jags games.
00:27:49
Garrard was the quarterback.
00:27:51
When I saw David Gerard the throwback name for this, I was the last time I went.
00:27:55
I went to a Jackets game and they would.
00:27:58
They would put a good amount of people in the stands.
00:28:00
But I went to a game maybe two years ago when Navy played Notre Dame in a bowl game in the same stadium, completely different, different atmosphere and that those tools have nothing to do with its area other than Navy.
00:28:13
Two major Navy bases. Jackson.
00:28:15
So there's a lot of 80 people, but that game is completely different than the Jackets game.
00:28:19
The Jacks game is basically the best way I could explain.
00:28:23
It is a whole bunch of people sitting on our couch, just the state living room watching the game.
00:28:27
Where did you go to a college plus game? It's everyone's fighting over the same TV.
00:28:32
It's just completely.
00:28:33
That's a good comparison.
00:28:34
No, it's definitely a good metaphor right there, and I think with college sports, too, it's like it's a different kind of your playing for tradition like you're playing for each other like it's a different feel than like pink.
00:28:46
In a sense, playing for dollars which then and it sucks to say that because of professional, it's not like they stopped playing for tradition.
00:28:52
They stopped playing for, you know, your championship or the need to win because they do.
00:28:56
But you already at the top.
00:28:58
You know, you're really getting paid for what you do.
00:29:01
The passion in college players.
00:29:02
Sometimes it may be the last time they ever get the chance to play that sport.
00:29:06
So they're playing with, like, all their heart, and then you get people that know that they can't let up for a second if they do want to get to that next level.
00:29:13
So, like, I just think that constant effort and drive in the college game is just so much more intense for me because it's like you got people fighting for different reasons, but going $100,000 now, it's just the skill level is less obviously, because only those people from those passionate group get to make it to the next level.
00:29:33
But the in regards to passion for college players, college fans, it's not even a comparison.
00:29:40
It's just it's different, you know.
00:29:42
But if boards you get in the major leagues, you know, but it's different.
00:29:45
It's special, very different.
00:29:48
And another thing that I really got.
00:29:49
I'm really sad. Never happened.
00:29:51
That probably isn't talked about enough, in my view, Is college baseball guy can't, right? Yeah, that sucked big time, actually, uh, my schools on a championship. Ryan.
00:30:02
Florida was going on a championship run that this year, it would be a Arizona's.
00:30:06
Arizona State's always gotta get baseball team.
00:30:08
They're always in the estate.
00:30:09
Do they? Only Staten never lose a party.
00:30:12
So we would have been really goods going in.
00:30:14
I remember.
00:30:15
I remember Dustin Pedroia days and stuff like that was beautiful.
00:30:18
Oh, you're You're that old i e.
00:30:24
I think the first thing I remember dusty mature you're doing is playing the race so completely different.
00:30:29
I e I want to talk about baseball.
00:30:34
That's okay. Yeah.
00:30:36
Three. Uh, I'm a Yankees fan.
00:30:38
Did you see Tanaka get hit in the head during a I hate that.
00:30:42
I hate seeing.
00:30:43
I mean, obviously, like, hurts your heart to see, like, anybody get hurt.
00:30:47
But what I What I saw was that he was doing well, so that yeah, yeah, he got released, I think, with a positive with a negative CT scan, which is good, but he's still going to be out for a while.
00:30:59
It looked intense.
00:31:01
He Yeah, it was Giancarlo to stand is one of the big players in the league.
00:31:05
He, of course, is the one.
00:31:07
The line office.
00:31:08
Oh God, that's LeBron coming at you. That's it.
00:31:12
Yes, it's like LeBron like hitting your head with a baseball bat.
00:31:15
It's That's the size comparison.
00:31:17
Actually, they're pretty close in size.
00:31:19
But, um, but I mean that.
00:31:21
And then another plan.
00:31:23
The Yankees, which I think the biggest name to actually get. Corona.
00:31:26
It's in baseball.
00:31:27
DJ Yella Mayhew tested positive.
00:31:29
I actually didn't hear that.
00:31:31
I know that there was some big names floating around, but actually didn't see that one pop up, which is I think he's the biggest name to actually get it.
00:31:38
And then there's some better saying they're not going to play.
00:31:41
The only person I have really have marked down.
00:31:43
When I wrote the do***ent that I'm looking at above was David, Price said.
00:31:47
He's not gonna play, that's rough, and and but the thing is this to like, you got a root for the guy I mean, like he comes in.
00:31:52
He hasn't played a game for the Dodgers, and he donates, I don't know how much money you donated, but it was quite a lot to a lot of You have minor B players that weren't could be making a salary, and that's an awesome move, like just from Amanda Man, move like that.
00:32:05
That's really cool.
00:32:06
If you if you want to get a fan base before even stepping on the field like that's how you do it, at least for me.
00:32:12
I know Alex Valadez, one of our directors as well.
00:32:14
He lives in Camarillo down the street, so we're both die hard.
00:32:17
You know, Dodger fans, but we both were heartbroken with this.
00:32:20
News were like, ****, on top of the fact that you're excited to get this kind of household name on on the Dodgers.
00:32:26
And obviously, it's not the same David Price on the Rays or on the Tigers, necessarily.
00:32:31
But there's still a lot left in the tank.
00:32:34
If you ask me and he's got a definite if he definitely could be.
00:32:39
I think right now, with so much talent on the Dodgers, he can take a step back if you were to play and how let's pressure going on better days.
00:32:47
I think that would have been that perfect resurgence for him at this point of his career.
00:32:51
But to not see him for the whole year is gonna definitely, I don't know if it's going to kill the dollars.
00:32:55
It's gonna hurt the Dodgers.
00:32:56
But it hurts us fans because I think, you know, we all really jumped on board when he made that move.
00:33:01
That was also, yeah, I think he's a special case. So be considering.
00:33:05
He's not like a Mike Trout, not just to that level, but in terms of being like the centerpiece to a team for so many years ago in stepping inside it, that he's never played there.
00:33:14
I think him taking the season back and just saying, Hey, I still want to play here. I love the city.
00:33:19
I'm proved it. I love the organization.
00:33:21
I'm going to start next year and just move on.
00:33:24
No, I get that right.
00:33:26
If my trout was to do that, that would just be I think I would treat it completely differently now.
00:33:31
I would take that back.
00:33:33
If the Dodgers lose the world seriously to pitching.
00:33:35
I will take it back, right? Any And that's kind of the story of our life, you know, for the last five years, which really sucks.
00:33:42
You know it.
00:33:43
And it's going to really rely on Kershaw Bueller.
00:33:44
You know, the rest of these guys to really step up by, um, for the Yankees, like this is a squad to.
00:33:50
So I mean, the Yankee.
00:33:51
I see a lot of people.
00:33:52
If you're gonna pick a favor, it's a win.
00:33:53
It's got to be the Dodgers, the Yankees, probably the Astros.
00:33:57
You know, you put those three there.
00:33:58
I've seen people through around the Twins quite a lot.
00:34:01
You know, different names like that that are more underdog kind of names and stuff like that.
00:34:05
Have you been seeing someone goes far too? Saying could have that on the raise.
00:34:09
You know, put a bet on the White Sox, put a bet on some of these guys that have a lot of new pieces or developing kind of story lines there kind of thing.
00:34:16
So, again, it's a shorter season, it's less traveling, it's it's definitely gonna be less of let's pull trends from previous years and more of who comes on the right day at the right time kind of thing.
00:34:29
I was tempted just before we started its broadcast.
00:34:32
To put I like to hedge my bets is the way I was relieved.
00:34:36
I know your your big better too.
00:34:38
And I love I love gambling two months to So, yeah, I'm gonna bet on the Yankees.
00:34:43
I'm gonna put some money on the daughters, but I'm gonna put some on them to cover my riskier bets, which I'm putting only like five bucks on the backs.
00:34:52
If they get hot at the right time with their bat, that could carry them to 2.5.
00:34:58
Many brown.
00:34:59
Well, many browns.
00:35:01
A big Mets fan. He was on the unwrapped.
00:35:03
This thing.
00:35:04
He was literally wearing a Mets high and given love.
00:35:05
The man should be like, I hate saying this cause, like he says with how much they've disappointed me in my lifetime.
00:35:10
Like, I cannot physically feel good saying that this is a year that they have a chance.
00:35:15
But he said, I have to say this is a year that they have a chance, like the If they help me if they stay healthy.
00:35:22
If they can get anything from Cess.
00:35:24
Pit is if they can keep the growing healthy, they can really, really get it going.
00:35:28
They have a chance, But it's a bunch of what ifs a bunch of what ifs, because I think health has always been an issue for the Mets.
00:35:34
I carry the thing thing with the rain.
00:35:36
If you look at the record, so yes, I would.
00:35:39
They won 90 games both seasons, and they can't make the play offs because Yankees are winning the 100 plus.
00:35:45
And then the Astros are winning 100 plus and then the wild card.
00:35:49
They're also doing really hot, so it's really hard for the race to go forward the playoffs because they're running into two juggernauts.
00:35:55
If they get hot at the right time and they could go really far, I think they won three games against Yankees all of last year, but either way they're teamed up.
00:36:05
I I put in line with the Mets and sort of bigot heart the right time.
00:36:09
They have talent.
00:36:13
The MLB were still pulling like okay, home field advantage.
00:36:18
There's still gonna be that level of strategy even without fans to a to a sense.
00:36:23
Still, that level of travel, like certain teams have, you know, 4 4000 miles of travel while someone else might have eight, you know, and that might play a factor.
00:36:33
Where with the n b.
00:36:34
A.
00:36:35
There is no such thing as a home court advantage anymore.
00:36:37
There's no travel at all.
00:36:38
It's all just show up.
00:36:40
And who will quit a better sleep that night? Who has a better coach? Like I think it's the baby's father is still that level of strategy.
00:36:46
And and to add on to the home field advantage thing, one thing I just start off his baseball never said they're not allowed family.
00:36:55
And I read, I think, was a week ago.
00:36:57
The Yankee said that they're preparing for 2030% people allowed in the stadium, which I'm just excited for.
00:37:05
If they're the chance of any fans in the stands in the Bronx, that electric like you, even if you shut down all the vendors, right, even if that's like okay, maybe that's two of a risk. Whatever.
00:37:17
Maybe we allow you to bring in closed What? I mean, like they already do closed water bottles, closed bags.
00:37:23
If if you brought in a closed bag of peanuts to Dr Stadium in a bag and it was sealed and stuff, you could bring it in your good.
00:37:29
So I think, maybe get a little bit more lax with letting people bring things in and stuff, obviously checking very hard but extending what people can bring in if you're not alcohol is like that, like if it's closed and stuff like.
00:37:42
But let's say let's say we not sell a thing and let's say we do this almost like it's a really nice movie theater where you pick your seats ahead of time and like you have these three rows shut off.
00:37:54
This one row is on Lee for a group of 5 to 8 because they're all close to each other.
00:38:00
And it has to be people coming to get other, you know, And then, if not, this is the only area that will put single seats, you know, and I just feel like that's gonna be the only way that it would make sense and still not be too over the top like we can't do HAZ mat suits and stuff like that right now.
00:38:17
But like, if you're gonna allow people to come, you say you wear a mask, You know, this is what we're going to still enforce.
00:38:23
We're gonna dictate where you get sat.
00:38:26
Maybe we bring in Mawr ushers more security, more people to kind of guide you along the pathways.
00:38:33
You know more.
00:38:34
You know, I don't know if bathrooms are less people are allowed in at once.
00:38:39
You've got a guy at the front of the bathroom that's only allowing eight people at once with their mass to go into the restroom.
00:38:44
You know, whatever they may be, these are things we can do.
00:38:47
You know, these are things that we can definitely try, and it's but it's not anyone going and trying to be a big dog.
00:38:52
If you're a fan like you need to go and comply, you go where they tell you to go.
00:38:57
You sit down where you go, you still have a good time.
00:38:59
You're still drinking, you're still doing your thing.
00:39:01
But, you know, I think that's the only way, instead of just flooding in and letting everyone kind of do their thing.
00:39:07
Still, because people will be morons if you let them be more on, you know, and a quick point.
00:39:11
What if we do do that? Everyone's complying.
00:39:14
And then there's a streaker.
00:39:16
Your tackle.
00:39:18
Big question.
00:39:19
What do they dio? You got the HAZ mat security team, bro.
00:39:22
Have you got the task force? You bring the task force out, they drop out, you know it Z monsters.
00:39:29
And can they take you the hell down like that's it, like, right there with 1/2 note suits? Get a terror in it and then you isolate for two weeks.
00:39:37
She was lock it down.
00:39:39
Place has bad.
00:39:42
It'll be interesting, man.
00:39:43
I definitely feel to recap that football is gonna happen in the NFL.
00:39:48
I don't think there's gonna be fans.
00:39:50
I think fans aren't as Big A with the only NFL Just cause needle.
00:39:54
Then you're able to pay attention of the talent more.
00:39:56
We're in college.
00:39:57
You need kind of a distraction in the atmosphere to really enjoy it.
00:40:01
So I really do think the NFL is gonna happen, and mostly because of the money, but also because it's just a sign of open it.
00:40:10
Just morale to the country with this country desperately needs something that everyone can agree on and fight on but agree on that.
00:40:18
They love this.
00:40:19
So I think we need something in a If the bubble hold.
00:40:24
I think basketball is going to the best of the major sports to go through.
00:40:28
Uh, I don't know if they everybody hockey dates out yet, but if that ever happens, I think that's me.
00:40:32
Another good sport for it.
00:40:34
Ah, but baseball is going to be, and then football will probably be.
00:40:39
If you get it, sit out, wait for more people to get it.
00:40:42
That it could be crazy.
00:40:43
Biggest wildcard is gonna be football.
00:40:45
It's the sheer size of the rosters and stuff like that, even though seasons technically less time, you know, for any NFL season 17 you know, like that's not that's not too far fetched to think of a bubble for 17 weeks.
00:41:01
Like if you're making forms in Italy dollars, you know, I was reading that I didn't get a chance to read in depth.
00:41:08
I got the gist of the clays Campbell thing, which one of the first players I think to really step out and give a stand hence in the NFL and I don't know if he's gonna he might opt out for all of which is gonna be interesting to see how that goes, Which hat with how overbearing the NFL owners are Because I could easily see old Jerry Jones being like, Oh, you don't want to play Well, this high school athlete, that there, this college guy that went to juco here, too and about do anything he wants to play will make him a concern.
00:41:35
Quarterback behind, back for the year.
00:41:37
I can see I think of the higher its if we see something like the replacements happened this year in the NFL.
00:41:42
Just signed a whole bunch of $50,000 contracts.
00:41:45
Health.
00:41:46
I think that I mean, you also couldn't factor maybe a lockout like the N b A and back in the day, like there's so many different right now.
00:41:54
You saw how brutal these negotiations were with the MLB P A and the M L B.
00:42:01
It was a nightmare.
00:42:03
And it is still, I think I still don't think it was right.
00:42:06
You know, I still don't think they got it right like it was just it was It's a nightmare, so it just to see how no one agrees and how it's so complicated right now.
00:42:15
I just don't see that getting much better in regards to us all finding a way to agree on health and business.
00:42:23
There's gonna have to be compromises made on both ends or this is not possible.
00:42:28
Yeah, I think it's either going to be.
00:42:29
It doesn't happen and the players, except the factors they I won't say a great chance they get it, but a good chance to get it, especially unless basketball find a way that the bubble holds.
00:42:41
Other sports are going to do the same thing because they really can't do the same thing.
00:42:45
I think people are gonna have to get into people like Digital.
00:42:49
Mayhew's doing, he's not practiced or anything right now.
00:42:51
He's home just waiting for it to be done.
00:42:54
Um, in the Jimmie Johnson did for less than a week that he had it is he blocked away, didn't see anybody and just waited for it to be done.
00:43:03
I think that's was eventually gonna happen, is just gonna have to run its course and then go from there or the vaccine, which there's rumors that slouchy rumored this December.
00:43:13
Could be a could be a time there were aiming for which I think would be just a feat of our science, that to get out of sports too far, that would just be remarkable if we could pump something out that's actually working by that, I know for sure, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it come.
00:43:28
Something come at least better news.
00:43:30
By that point of the progress that we're making out of me, you have to stay hopeful.
00:43:33
I mean, that's the only way that we can stay too mostly ignorant, you know, stay safe, do what you have to do right now, like if you want to see these guys wearing helmets, you have to do the precautions that you need to do in order to get us to this point plain and simple.
00:43:46
But, you know, I heard a joke of the day.
00:43:49
That was, if the governor of Alabama, Georgia went out there and said, Look, there, there, the states that are gonna make masks mandatory, But if they were after and said Look, if you want college football and you want to be able to go to the stadium on Saturdays.
00:44:02
Wear a mask, you would say everyone Where Every red back down through the have Alabama masks.
00:44:07
Yeah, Alabaman overmatched.
00:44:10
They wouldn't be strictly abide by if they which is sad that, like, you know, that that is the true reality.
00:44:17
But like that, that's not happening.
00:44:19
Like why? Why? You see RG three on Twitter, saying, If you want to see football, where your masks, I'm confused.
00:44:27
Why is someone else can't say that directly, Teoh.
00:44:30
The people that I respect, the reason is no one see the later on.
00:44:34
All right now, just trying.
00:44:35
I don't wanna blame the media by, I mean the media.
00:44:38
It's governments, everybody saying about how bad this is, often negativity.
00:44:44
If someone went out there and said, Hey, buy this day, if everyone does a good job will be good to go by then we're gonna flip the switch.
00:44:52
Garland.
00:44:53
I think everyone on board behind that, and that's when it kind of the problem.
00:44:57
I've no do well.
00:44:58
Florida opened up Florida.
00:45:00
Don't think floor for at the moment, said we opened up and we're accepting stuff to go on.
00:45:06
Florida have fans in the stands for all I know this fall.
00:45:10
But, um, if people were put like hell, even if they said new years after New Year's, If if it's looking okay and we all do our job, that will be our date toe start really put into high gear and giving us kind of war.
00:45:24
Do you think people need goals and carrots have dangled in front of them to do so? People go just like, really just I could re like That's how he was working you don't have It's just a Yeah, you're right.
00:45:33
I mean, it's just that abyss that were kind of sitting in And people are like, I'm bored.
00:45:37
I'm going crazy.
00:45:38
I don't know what's gonna happen, and people are I don't want People are inherently Just do it for the good.
00:45:43
People want to see something of really nice that's gonna happen at the end like you don't go out.
00:45:47
Most people aren't gonna go out there and run 10 miles if they are going to get healthier.
00:45:51
Just going to enjoy if you're going out there and do something that you don't want to dio, you want to see something nice something, and I think they put a date on it that they say this is gonna happen after this day.
00:46:01
A Everyone will put masks on states that aren't wearing masks right now, right? I definitely meant at that point you could be like, just kidding.
00:46:08
Like seven day Revolution.
00:46:13
Alright, guys, that's pretty much a while that me and Ryan have for you guys tonight really, really great conversation from us.
00:46:19
Of course, going over pretty much all sports wait a bunch of different ideas, a bunch of different theoretical stuff that e mean everything's theoretical nowadays with us talking sports.
00:46:29
And I think we're gonna finally start getting to more solid concrete content that we can give out to you guys when obviously games were going on.
00:46:37

00:46:50

00:46:52
There's there's gonna be a card this weekend that's going to probably top any other car that they could put out for quite a while.
00:46:59
Like that is quite the card.
00:47:01
Like when I look at the lineup.
00:47:02
It's insane and we're gonna be doing an unwrapped this Live on Saturday as well.
00:47:06

00:01:08
As you see, we've been a lot more active as of lately here on a get shot out to SportsCastr, always doing such great things.
00:01:14
His co host feature is awesome.
00:01:16

00:46:37
Obviously, there's some sports right now, but bubble games should be happening, obviously within the next few weeks as well.
00:46:44

00:46:50

00:47:06
Led by Monique, she is actually rebranding and making a new fighting department underneath unwrapped sports.
00:47:12
So we are back at that, you know, having a good time with that.
00:47:16
But we have a great panel of unwraps sports people talkin UFC this weekend.
00:47:21
Like I said, you're gonna definitely be seen Ryan on a panel coming up soon, obviously with his versatility, with so many different sports.
00:47:27
At some point, he's gonna jump on something, and it's gonna be a lot sooner than if he was just a one trick pony.
00:47:32
So, uh, you know, this was super fun for us to do tonight.
00:47:35
