as a player is not a household name doesn't mean we can't make it household.
Just because the guy's players, not a household name doesn't mean we can't make in the household.
Just because the guy's players not a household name doesn't mean we can.
Hello on Laurence Owen, and this is SportsCastr News now.
So the Detroit Lions or banking on a nastier run game interesting.
They're actually hoping that the run game will be even better than what it was last season.
The last six seasons, the Lions have had a running back who ran for even 900 yards.
Now, last year, obviously, they had carry on Johnson.
But this past season they went out and got DeAndre Swift.
Also, uh, they went out and got fight.
I hoping that he'll start at the right tackle.
Last year, their offensive line jumped multiple spots in the Pff rankings for offensive line blocking.
The Lions offensive coordinator coordinator Darrell Bevell hopes that the new guys on the offensive blind are going to make a difference in making this run game even nastier than what it has been in the past.
You really want those tough, nasty grinders because that's what it is in the run game.
It's a grown man's type of game.
Have always talked on here.
That's something we really hang our hat on, and we're able to do with Wells we wanted to last year.
So hopefully some of those additions will be able to help us do that.
If, ah, lunch pail, so to speak, type of group, they kind of like toe hurt the opponent as well.
It's really a mentality.
All you have to do is turn on.
I don't know Logan's tape, and you can see him and Jonah as well.
Now the Indianapolis Colts showed that if you go out and you invest in your all offensive line, that you can really improve your run game and improving the run game is a quarterback and passing eggs.
Everybody knows this.
If you're on NFL fan, you know that the running game is a passing games best friend, because it helps keep the defense from dropping back and covering so so many wide receivers helps in your play.
Action helps, uh, keep the linebackers closer to the line of scrimmage so that you're you're crossing patterns.
You're tied ends.
They get open a little bit easier now. Laughed Stephen.
The Lions didn't do great, so to speak.
But they get okay.
I mean, you're looking at 4.
2 yards for both Scarborough.
Ty Johnson had 4.
3 yards per carry on carry on.
He had the majority of the carries and he only averaged 3.
But he's a different type of running back.
They also loved to target their running backs.
Being that carry on had 15 targets, Tie had 31.
Now here's the thing.
Well, oh, yeah, and we can't forget that.
I assume that's how you pronounce that name.
He had 42 targets.
Sift DeAndre Swift can catch out of the backfield, and anyone says Matt Stafford is a top 10.
Quarterback needs to sit back and watch tape.
You know, like what's going on right behind me.
Matt Stafford is the top 10 quarterback in the NFL.
They went out and got themselves by Thai.
They went out and got themselves DeAndre Swift.
They already got some receivers out there, right? They have receivers in Golladay.
They have Amendola.
They got tied in and TJ Hawkinson.
They need need money.
Marvin Jones also played pretty darn what Marvin Jones had a heck of a season last year, averaging 12.
6 yards of reception on 91 targets and 62 catches.
Had a very good 68% completion percentage.
Catch percentage, not completion percentage.
Same thing, basically, just for a wide receiver rather than a quarterback.
And let's let's talk about Matt Stafford passing before he got hurt her when he was actually able to play those eight games eight games, he had a 64% completion percentage.
2500 yards, 19 touchdowns.
Five picks get a quarterback rating of a 106 He was averaging 312 yards passing a game.
Had he played 16 games with those numbers have been 5000 yards passing.
Yeah, 38 touchdowns.
Yeah, versus 10 picks.
Wow, that's unbelievable.
They need to protect him better now.
Like I said, they did way better when it came to protecting last year, and they're starting to actually put people around. Stafford.
This is something the Detroit Lions have not done in recent history.
When they had guys like Barry Sanders.
They didn't put a team around him to make him better, right? So they wasted Barry Sanders career.
When they had Calvin Johnson, they didn't put a team around him to make him better.
That's why both Calvin Johnson and Barry Sanders both ended up retiring early because it was like being on a ship trying to sell across the ocean with the anchor dropped.
They just they just weren't going anywhere because they weren't adding the people to help them be better.
Now it looks like they're starting to do that.
It looks like they're starting to add players around their stars.
They're putting offensive line in front of Matt Stafford.
They're giving him running backs.
They're giving him wide receivers.
They're banking on Stafford, taking them somewhere, and if they continue to bank on that, Stafford could do it.
I love what Golladay showed last year.
I think he played very, very well.
I think his next season will be even better.
I mean, so how I mean, it's not like his numbers were outstanding.
