Hello, everyone, welcome back to another broadcast today.
We're going to be looking at the Lakers, and they're going to be signing J. R.
Smith to a contract with the departure of Avery Bradley over health concerns off his son and not wanting to be participating in the bubble, which in my pain is perfectly OK.
He doesn't feel safe.
And that is exactly what this bubble opt out is for if you're not feeling safe, taking the concerns of his family over the money and over the league, which is very important.
And it was a fundamental step for Avery Bradley.
But that doesn't mean that there is a hole in the Lakers lineup, especially at the shooting guard position.
So who is going to be taking over? Well, it's going to be J.
Smith, who the Lakers will be signing during this free agency quarter uncle period that the league has designated.
So we're going to start off by reading the clutch police article and that we're gonna get into basically what led the Lakers to sign J.
Smith and talk about, um, just the Lakers in general.
So the Wash Angel's Lakers are expected to sign swing man Jared Smith.
They are going to sign him.
Most likely, according to Marx Time in The New York Times, the Lakers recently lost shooting guard Avery Bradley is he chose to sit out the restart of the 2019 20 season.
The Lakers have been have been searching for another cog at the position, immediately landing on Smith, who hasn't seen action in more than a year.
The deal with Smith will happen before Tuesday's 11:59 p.
Eastern time deadline of the mbH transaction Window rosters for the MBA restore at Walt Disney World must be turned into the league office by Wednesday, July 1st.
So this is the transaction with Delicate said.
Basically, um, for the players with all transactions stuff.
Ah Smith will join longtime teammate LeBron James, whom he spent all four of his years in Cleveland, including his last year during an M B a final sweep at the hands of the Golden State Warriors.
It was Smith who aired in thought, passing to a well defended George Hill in the corner after in spent and snoring on offense, a rebound in the wind wining seconds of regulation in a tied game long costing the Cavaliers a potential game winning basket will get into that as well.
If you had more than two years, it's been more here more than two years since that memorable gaffes, and Smith and James will be reunited as the former gets toe wear a New Jersey.
After going inside all season long, Smith was waived by the Cavs in 2019 after the team found no suitable trade for the struggling shooter.
The longtime MBA veteran also said almost of the 2018 19 season in Strange from the team after a constant disputes, replying time with the front office.
The 34 year old has career average of 12.
2 rebounds and 2.
1 assists there.
15 n b a season.
So we are going to talk about like I said, I would, um, Jerry Smith.
So, yes, he did have a big me and problems, uh, after what he did when he basically, uh, George Hill, I believe, was the one who missed the free throw or whatever.
Jared Smith came out.
I thought that the game was in the Lakers position and that they were winning.
I I have to think of something first.
If you thought you were winning, why we're not TV.
Why were none of the Golden State warriors coming after you Because it was tied or because you were in the position to win? Well, I don't know why.
It was only a few seconds until the clock ran out as he passed it to George Hill.
And LeBron was like, Come on.
Okay, I understand.
You know, it is tough in these positions.
And Jared Smith, you know, cost the Cavs that game.
And what some, uh, some people really think they had a potential position to win? Um, they were.
They were tired and they could have got a shot off, But let's let's just go beyond it.
He's still a great player, a great shooting guard to have all the team.
I think it's going to be a good signing by the Los Angeles Lakers.
I think you sign him to the end of the year.
If he proves to be a guy that's averaging 20 a game or something, then you sign him to a longer your deal, maybe have him a competition with Avery Bradley.
I doubt it will happen.
I think for now they're just finding a suitable position because the Lakers have a good shot and making maybe finals, a very good shot, arguably the best in the league.
So when you're adding J.
Smith, who is a very, very accomplished player of veteran and as a coach, points, Porta pointed out 15 scenes in the league when you're running him to a what some people call a dynasty, Um, with LeBron and a d and then obviously some of the other veteran pros, like Dwight Howard of Rajon Rondo, there on this team, you're you're making, um, you're making this team even more, um, but giving them even more potential to win a championship.
And I say that not because of the skill level of Jerry, but his experience and knowledge of the game that he could potentially pass on to some of these other players.
There's some younger ones of the team.
You got some new guys, but overall, this is a very, very strong team.
You're going to be looking at the Lakers as one of the top teams in the West alone, Clippers, the Nuggets and potentially the Rockets, however, that fades out moving into those eight games.
But I can tell you what they J.
Smith is a guy that you're going to be relying on as a shooting guard, taking over, maybe switching out of the starting lineups and pumps.
This guy's going to be getting up a lot.
Do you play in the final two minutes? Yes, yes, yes.
I mean, this guy's I'm gonna love it up again.
That was a one time thing.
This site is a very hard working.
He was training, getting ready.
He's a very hardworking shooting guard, slash small forward ever.
You want to put him in there? He's going to be a very, very, very instrumental part of this Lakers team.
When we get into the postseason, we're going to see it really play through.
Um, I'm definitely expecting them to sign, and by tomorrow there's no doubt that he is going to prove to be worthy to be a Laker.
Thank you, Robert J.
1974 for the tip of 10 ticks.
But you know, this whole Lakers squad is just really figuring things out together.
Arguably one of the best jewels and like they're figuring things out.
But past year, Smith this whole team is a great shot.
They're gonna have to pretend the potential Amethi India files When you bring in a D.
Who is an experienced player and then LeBron, who is arguably the most experienced small Ford person in the playoffs, or anybody really in the playoffs, you reunite the desire to win a championship.
Obviously, eighties never done it. LeBron's done.
Ah, few times now J. R. Smith.
You're trying to get a whole team together, who you have the needs to want to win a trip chip.
Then you have, like LeBron and J. R.
We're woman trying to get another one.
Is going to be so determined to do anything you can to bring this championship to L. A.
He averaged 28 game? Probably not.
Is there a possibility? Yes, probably 15 a game at most.
We're looking at a guy who hasn't played in the league in a year and 1/2 of whatever it has to.
That is big not being.
I'm not questioning his ability to play.
I'm a questioning his ability to get back into the league and, uh, essentially do what he used to do.
This guy could play, but can he do it at the level we need him to And especially with all the other players who haven't been able to plan a while? We don't know how this will pan out, but J R.
Smith hasn't been in the league in a very long time.
So when we see him play for a like your team, that is desire to win a championship.
Good things they're gonna come.
This Lakers team was going to hit.
They're, um, Highs in the kind of glory.
I guess you could say off, um, trying to respond to win a championship.
They compare for drying now.
Yeah, except Josh.
Um, but this is a very good signing for the Lakers.
I'm expecting them to make other a lot moves this offseason, and I think you they're gonna sign into the end of the season.
There's no need to sign a past this contract because it's not like you're going to be signing this guy to play for you for every, um, for every single season, you know? Yeah.
Obviously every Bradley often out, which, I'll tell you, I completely support him out. Now.
I think that there should be no hate towards players that are often how you know he's up the house.
First Family is not opting out because he doesn't want a player in things because he would love the play.
But it's because of his family.
I believe it's a six year old son was breathing his respiratory issues.
So even Bradley opting, How I completely support that.
But like I'm saying, J.
Smith is going to be a good replacement for him and for this Laker team to win a championship.
This this would be very interesting to watch him play for this.
Lead your team, and then, you know, I don't think there's any beef really between LeBron and J.
I think this this matchup together is going to really or a strong team.
I think when you look at J. R.
Overalls a player you know, like clutch points pointed out here, his career averages or uh are okay.
2 rebounds in two polling assists per game.
Jerry's gonna mess things up, don't you were, You know, I understand, you know, But I'll be honest with you. J.
R is a very good player.
Just because he messed up and he made it, got us all the mean.
We wanted it doesn't it Doesn't mean he's not gonna play good this season.
I see him averaging 10 to 15 game.
I think in those eight games, we're going to see his potential rise.
I think when you're looking at overall Jared Smith his ability to play, there's no question that this guy can play.
You play and he won a championship with LeBron.
Um, if he could do that on L.
And you know these two guys LeBron and I d who are aspiring to win a championship, you're gonna get a good team overall.
Smith, Um, he has coded.
Yeah, he this guy is going to be a very, very good potential.
Signing for the, um I'm getting Biggs of I know.
I know, right? Oh, my gosh.
I can't wait till the scoring gains overnight.
You get a haircut again, But first year you know this this whole Lakers game going to be very good, but I want to talk more about the free agency for Don't sign him to a deal.
A deal more than one year.
This guy deserves the end of the season contract.
This guy doesn't need anything more than that.
And I'll be honest with you.
Why? First of all, if this guy's a bust and he turns out Oh, by the way I read my articles wants took my whole I just did that one that was raking the pics of the decades.
Soak likes Iowa and Kyrie Go glory that as well.
Um cut compared You ready? I saw your comment and then bread, You eat it as well.
So thanks, guys.
But we'll Zion was low because his potential is high.
I put him well because I didn't I didn't want to put him pass public, Wiggins, because you know he hasn't done it yet.
But I'll be hospital this by the end of science career, but probably better than all the players on that list.
You might even be a goat by the end of his career.
We really don't know.
But you know, what I'm saying about Jr is they should not should certainly not put him in the position to be more than one year deal, cause if this guy's a bust, it's definitely It's kind of like the Kanun deal.
The Patriots realized if Kim there it is a bust, it only cost the $1 million which is a lot of real life.
But in an NFL life, it's really not that much, but they're kind of taking advantage of league Uh oh Bellatrix Plage chest and the rest of the league's trying to figure out how to play chess checkers.
So that's how hours in the NFL.
But Jerry Smith Sunda Little deal and then this off season.
The Lakers have plenty of moves if they sign Jr to another contract extension.
That would be interesting to see that.
But there is a possibility is he puts up good numbers here, the Lakers to trade him for trade bait, re signing whatever they want to do.
Because this offseason, you know, you have a few people there still, Kyle Kuzma, who's up to trade, you know, I know that's been talk.
Ah, a topic, you know, What are they going to do with Rajon Rondo? Dwight Howard But the biggest thing is just trying to figure out this whole thing with Jared Smith.
You know, um, I think DeMarcus cousins, the market's cousin, should certainly get signed by somebody.
My gosh, right or boogie? Whatever his nickname Boogie.
You should different get signed with somebody But Jair, I'm gonna stick it straight to you.
J r is a good basketball player.
Should definitely get signed.
And that's pretty much the bottom line here.
You know, DeMarcus cousins should get signed by somebody.
Um, that that's going to go after him in pursuit of a guy that can actually do something for your team.
Um, I know the injuries have been a question for him, but Smith doesn't have any injury problems.
Really? So overall, Hey, had an injury, obviously, in 18 19.
But this year, there should be in a question about that.
This year, you're going to see a Lakers team with full potential doing their best, you know? So I can't wait to see them in the postseason.
Um, they're gonna dominate.
Jared Smith is going to be a big asset.
And if this Lakers team wins a championship in jail is putting up 20 points a game.
People are gonna think what they have done it without J.
There's no question that this team is a chance to do without him, because Jar isn't really that much of a, um, help when you look at the whole team overall.
But if he's averaging 28 game, this guy could be the thing that pushes the Lakers over the Clippers and over the Bucks.
He can be the guy, and then you think when you put him in competition with Avery Bradley for the shooting guard spot, then you get something very interesting.
There's there's not.
There's, like, little change.
I'm telling you right now, I probably won't compares on with me here.
Hill average 15 10 or 15.
But when I was with this guy, when I look at the the work he's putting in, he really wants to get back to playing again.
And he is very excited to play eso when he does play and I'm expecting him to be great. You know.
July 30th is coming up in like a month now, so we're going to see that and also baseball's coming back spring training starts tomorrow I believe for the day after whatever this.
So that will be very interesting.
Um, um, you know J R. Smith.
It'll be interesting to see what happens, but yeah, um, uh, there is going to be the first, I believe the first free to during this transaction window to get signed.
I think DaMarcus cousins probably will get signed, but some team by the end of the transaction, when I'm expecting to Marcus to be signed by either, um ah, team.
If the markets get signed, it's going to be a team that needs That's, like probably an eighth seed, um, or a trying to get in there.
Um, Marcus is really the best breathe and available.
Like what you're saying here.
And then you look at Jr.
Who's going to be the 1st 1 sense.
So I hope you guys did enjoy.
I hope Jeremy Lin gets signed.
Um, I know it's civil insanity, you know, he was good.
I think his reign is over.
Um, he was a one hit wonder, Just like that guy.
A place to the patriots.
You remember that guy who played for the Patriots? Oh, yeah.
I was just thinking about the Celtics if they Maybe they signed boogie.
You know, maybe they grabbed him and fit him into the center position and work him in there.
You know, when you're looking at what they did with a, uh, in this cantor who was coming off of the agreed season in Portland.
You know, I doubt they'll sign.
And because he really doesn't look like he'll fit in.
I think with, you know, with that overall kind of bench system.
But you don't Maybe if he could be fighting with not fighting, but like he could fit in as 1/3 string center.
Yet that Houston was another team that was mentioned in signing Boogie.
But I hope you guys did enjoy.
I'll be coming out with a broadcast in like, 20 minutes.
Whatever it ISS on Cam Newton talking about Cam Newton, his signing with the Patriots, What it means for the rest of the A f C East.
Um, hopefully, I think me and Brad are going to do one just like 20 minutes, but very excited about they're gonna be talking about Cam Newton.
The signing, obviously for one million? No, the Patriots stuff find more than they they got find more money than they Symes son Camden's four.
So that was very interesting.
Hope you guys did enjoy.
Like I said, I'll be covering these clutch points articles a lot.
I see there like 23 people here at one point, So J.
R. Smith getting signed by the Lakers.
It's the first, uh, contract being finalized in the transaction window.
Um, but Jerry Smith, you know, as long as he doesn't mess up again, we're all good.
We'll be seeing that.
By the way, we're starting a new show.
Brown and Quinn called the coach's office.
Go check that out.
We're going to start hopefully this week or this weekend.
We're going to start our first episode and go turn on my article at Tech Mole.
It's called Breaking the Number one picks of the Decade and you can go see that list, Um, 10 through one.
So that's gonna be very exciting.
I can't wait for you to start doing more.
Took award whole articles, Kyrie over.
And I'll be honest, you know, the big city for Kyrie was his play in the playoffs.
You know, Kyrie is great in the playoffs.
You say he doesn't choke, you know? And when you looked at his finals, his finals overall, just his what he did.
This guy was very, very good in the Finals, you know? Hey, had to 30 point games, had a 41 point outburst, and it is good and all.
But if I'm if I'm building a team, um, I think Kyrie, I think, you know, compare you a Celtics fan because I'm a Celtics fan.
I'll be honest with you.
I'm not happy with Kyrie because I didn't like what you doing in Boston.
But I'll be honest with these.
Describes the limit for him in Brooklyn when he goes back with another All Star in this case, going to be, uh, Katie is gonna be very interesting.
So we'll see how that puts him together.
Uh, yeah, we'll have the Cam Newton broadcast later.
Hope you guys did a joy talking about J.
Smith, and he's gonna be a very that he could potentially be a very a very great signing.
So I hope you guys did enjoy.
I will see you guys in the next one.
I'm Nathan signing off
