All right, Welcome back once again to sports.
Cast their news where, as always, I am Adam Arm Rex.
Welcome you back in talking MBA action and finally, the last domino to fall.
So they were not getting into a lot of details around, but the adjusted CB and Kareem it as far as what it's gonna look like.
Ah, you know, revised for the following this season has been made for the N B A, which means that it was one of the last things that had to get checked off before the N B.
A resumption of the 2019 2020 season down in Orlando could officially move ahead.
This is one of those things when you talk about whether it's the n b a NFL NHL MLB has had their issues, but sometimes the the big picture is let's get it after the players, Let's talk to the owners.
Let's get everyone to sign off and say, Yes, we want to come back and finish the season in the case of the MBA or start our seasons in regards to some of these other sports.
But then it's all the details. Right.
Where you gonna play your games.
What are the precautions they're going to take around Cove in 19? Ah, and then what are things gonna look like from And agree? We know that MLB is struggling right now.
To figure out was the probated salaries how many games we're gonna play where these games gonna be played? And even though some some great news came after MLB this morning, they're still gonna have all of those details toe work their way through, including the potential for some grievances to get filed.
But let's stay focused on MBA.
This was one of the boxes that had to get checked off in order to guarantee that we're gonna be moving forward down in Orlando.
So now that that's happened, who do we think? What team do we think is going to have a great level of success in the return? What players specifically do we think are going toe? Have a great turnout down in Orlando.
When you look around the MBA, you think about those n v p counselor guys throughout this season.
That's the LeBron James.
The Anthony Davis is.
You want to go James Harden, Of course.
The Greek freaky honest there in Milwaukee, Maybe even a Luca Dontre.
True is having quite the season for himself with the Dallas Mavericks.
Which one of these players is in the best position to return and return in a big way? As this gets going again in Orlando Now, the obvious one is gonna be LeBron 17 seasons in.
You know that he has not said anything negative or anything in N counterbalance to the MBA returning, you know that he made the strategic move to go to L.
You know, they got Anthony Davis on that squad, all in the pursuit of winning champion ships.
I'll put the S on that because this year becomes very important to what happens going forward.
I'm not suggesting that if they didn't win the championship this year that they wouldn't be able to re sign Anthony Davis.
But in terms of LeBron James and when his aspirations are in the call it the latter stages of his career, even though I don't know, maybe is gonna play another 34 seasons waiting this year means that then you work your way through this.
This finishes up in October, a relatively short off season.
You get going back in December, and if he can keep himself healthy enough, he's going to maybe have a chance to go back to back, even if they don't win back to back.
This one becomes more important because you got a great lay off go back to last year.
They don't have the playoffs.
So LeBron gets a break in that regard.
Now you have 60 games in 65 games in off Big three months plus long layoff for the N B A.
He's allowed to get healthy a lateral lots to rejuvenate his body.
Being able to go into this eight game regular season and into the playoffs and have a shot at winning a title means that he can check that box off this year.
And I may be the goal all along.
But now, next year, which could be a short off season and then getting into it again, how are they going to try to manage LeBron and will be his 18th season? So winning it this year is gonna be really important.
That's probably why Azzawi had some sidebar discussions between myself and chief McPherson and Matt Brooks.
Ah, that immediately it was Braun for Ah, Keith McPherson, Matt Brooks, on the other hand, immediately throughout Yonas.
And that's a great one because he's yachts.
I mean, there's a reason why it's called a Greek freak.
And when you take a look at where the MBA standings are right now, one of the reasons that I think some players are going to be in line quote unquote toe have ah, really strong return and maybe be NDP candidates that end up pursuing and, you know, finals.
M V P is he plays in the East, So you know you're talking about as it stands right now.
Maybe it'll be Orlando.
Maybe things shuffle and it becomes the Brooklyn Nets.
Maybe, just maybe, even though we've seen now that a player will be exiting for the Washington Wizards in The Wizard somehow found themselves in the playoffs in the A C.
No one is gonna have a pretty easy opening round for them, and then you think about who's going to be there in the following around.
Now, as it stands, we know this could fluctuate a little bit, though I hesitate to think that there's gonna be a lot of movement in the standings.
But you have Toronto, then you have Boston.
Then you have Miami and then you're talking about the Pacers and the Philadelphia 76 years, five and six spots.
So you don't four verse five, sir.
So one of those two teams could be who ends up taking on the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round.
If the 70 Sixers were to somehow, I'll call that an upset just because I think Boston has been the stronger, more consistent team throughout the year, in spite of that massive home record for the Philadelphia 76 or something that will not be on there advantage when it comes to resumption because you're not gonna have any home courts.
So if the Sixers word beat Boston, then that's an interesting kind of matchup because they have a lot of size there.
But assuming they don't more than likely, Milwaukee is gonna end up taking on the Heat or the Pacers.
I think either one of those teams, I would say maybe the Heat feels more dangerous.
The Pacers, though Ah, talented.
But I town the team, but I don't think they're gonna give him a run either.
Then you get into like into the conference finals.
And when you talk about getting there, that's where I think some of the N v P caliber play needs to really show itself out.
Because if it was a Toronto or if it was a Boston, you know how things shake out.
Then you're going to need to really take over games in a way that won't be required of.
Yanis is fault, but I really think that you're going to see that first round.
He's going to be able to put that thing in neutral and let it kind of just coast its way through there on the other side of things.
When you talk about mentioned LeBron James, you know the opening round.
They've done everything they can.
They're out west to include the New Orleans pelicans.
Obviously, the Kings, the Spurs are gonna be in that mixes well alone.
The Portland Trail Blazers, or Reza for the translator said that he will not be a part of the resumption, then the solace in the thought Damian Lillard, and it's not a C.
McCollum, certainly, but depending on how that works out health for Portland, they could be a little bit of a tougher team and is the Western Conference.
So in general we know that the competition level is a little bit higher.
The scary team, Maybe for the Lakers, you could say, would be the Pelicans.
I'm not saying scary in terms off, you know, beating them in a seven game series.
But it will require LeBron James to turn it on immediately.
Right? Very young team, obviously.
Is I on small sample size there, some familiar faces in Bowl and Ingram.
So you know there's going to be a lot of fun there.
Should that 18 matchup happen, and that would be nice.
Even if it goes your six games, let's say I don't see it, even maybe not necessarily.
But LeBron James, Anthony Davis and that squad are going to have to be crisp from the onset of the playoffs because there are there is enough talent there, right? We talked, mentioned James Harden.
They're coming in.
They're in the sixth seed.
So you're talking about taking on the Denver Nuggets? That's going to be an exciting match up, and James Harden is going to have to do NDP type things from round one of the start of this to get out of that first round.
If they move into the matchup when they get to take a look at taking out one of the two hour L A teams, it's going to require James Harden to do a lot of envy, piece like types up to make those Siri's to make those interesting as we've seen, that he slimmed down a little bit, apparently is itching to get back and play.
You know, that's going to be a fun player.
Toe watch, I think.
And I wondered, we talked about this before.
Here, Harden possibly in the best shape that he's been in because of this layoff.
It will slim down.
You know that the water where the stamina is for a lot of these players, because you're just not getting the same level of off exercise.
But just that rhythm of the game right wins friends up and down the court, so being slimmed down is one thing.
But being in great basketball shape is another.
But if hard and can be a little bit higher, endurance have a little more late game stamina that might help him in some of those especially deep, deep threes that he likes to take because as you get fatigue, you just have a harder time getting those legs underneath you in the fourth quarter of the latter stages of the game.
So he'd be a really fun one for for me to watch as well if you're talking about a guy that's going to need to go off.
But I think LeBron really tops this list for me in a lot of ways, and then the other one, that man, I am dying toe watch.
And that's Luca out there in Dallas right now.
As it stands, Dallas sits there.
That seven seed, which would mean taking on the Clippers and you are the one name failed to mention year.
Was Kawai Leonard the reason why again, I think he could be.
Could he be primed to have a dominant performance right out the gate short.
But he's got a dominant defender alongside of and Paul George, who also is a great offensive weapon as well.
And that just seems like it might lend itself to saying, Try to pace yourself as far as what you're gonna need to accomplish over the course of the playoffs.
What I will say is, though, the Dallas Mavericks are going to at least be a dangerous team if that's how that matchup were to shake out.
And the reason being is that you do have some level of length here and size when you talk about poor Zynga's poor.
Zynga's is someone who again when you look at his stat lines.
51 games this year gave you 19 points to go along with nearly 10 rebounds, so almost a double double for him.
If he can turn it on a little bit, nothing helps to ah, combat great defense than just being flat out taller and bigger.
So that's gonna be really Luca Dodgers, man, you want to talk about a young player prime toe, have an enormous playoff run through.
This is what's unfortunate about it, right? If they lose to the L A Clippers the way it stands right now, you may only get to see six or seven games of this incredible young talent, but let's go back to the year prior 2018 1972 games.
Sample size for the young man, nearly 43% from the field, 30 to 33% from beyond the arc gave you only 71% of the life you want. Have a knock on.
I'm not a great free throw percentage.
And that's in that rookie season.
8 rebounds nearly eight rebounds to go along with his six assists.
Fantastic right jump ahead to this season before it got stopped in a 54 game sample, this kid went off to the tune of 46% from the field.
So 3% improvement from the field also.
So I mean, this is basically the same amount of minutes.
About a minute more of gameplay went ahead and shot about 32% from beyond the arc, sir, didn't I actually saw a little bit of a decline from beyond the arc and also did take more shots? There has seven attempts to your Prior nine this season, so taking a bit more and not necessarily knocking down as many, but on a per game basis closer to three than to year to year 75% from the line.
So you shoot now three of four from the field, or, if you want to put it into it into the really simple terms, right? You're talking about being in a position.
Teoh for every 10 shots, right, knocking down a little bit more out of every 10 free throw sample size.
Then he was getting the year prior seven out of nine, almost as opposed to five out of seven the year before.
So get into the line more as well.
You combine that with the fact that he had eight defensive rebounds per game.
Nine total nine total rebounds a game for this kid to go along with that again, effective 28.
7 points per game.
I just I You know, I don't know if I'm invested in the idea of the Clippers beating the Lakers or then meeting in the Western Conference finals.
I think I will say this.
If this was the normal landscape of the N b A and you're talking about men, what would be exciting to see? There wouldn't be anything Mawr exciting than watching the L.
A Clippers and the L A Lakers in the same building just going at it with one another over seven games Siris in the Western Conference finals.
It would be a both of benefits of both those teams for whether whichever team advanced to the finals.
Certainly because you'd be just playing at home the entire time.
It's going to take away some of that excitement in the early rounds, right? And because when you look again talk about the standings in the MBA right now, what are we Where are we looking at When we think about what we're going to see here from team to team, right.
So go out there in that Western conference.
We already know you got a D got LeBron and then you have polled George and you have Cool Island.
That's what makes that so attracted to see those teams in the Western Conference finals.
But you've got talent like the Joker on Murray.
There in Denver, you obviously are going toe have ah type of veteran and Chris Paul out there in O k. C.
Those guys are in the playoffs as well.
Then you've got Westbrook and you've got Harden for for the Houston Rockets.
You've got the unicorn and core Zynga's there.
In Dallas, the Memphis Grizzlies have Moran in the young trio of players there as well, and then you get into the Trailblazers.
There's some of these fringe teams, let alone the pelicans with all of that young town.
So the exciting and also disappointing thing is that if you run this thing ahead after the first round, you could be saying, Well, there goes Luca, You don't have that young player and ports. Angus.
You also lose the young talent of the Memphis Grizzlies or potentially, the pelicans.
If they were to make it in, then you talk about even in that second round.
Maybe the Nuggets air there, so you'll get to see a little bit of Joker and Murray.
And Murray is a young player.
Been around a couple of years.
We're more familiar with him from that standpoint, But you know you could.
It's going to be the veterans.
It's going to be those of the old guard.
If it's Leonard and George and LeBron and a D.
These guys have been around their established, so it be nice to see some of that excitement about all the sudden the Clippers get picked off in the first round.
I picked the Clippers because I do, I do kind of want to see LeBron.
I do feel compelled toe.
Want to see LeBron in the finals, potentially with a matchup, say against the Yonas from the Eastern Conference? Likewise, when you go over to the East, you think about all those teams down there at the bottom.
This is where it's a little bit different.
A lot of those young stars there.
Orlando? Not necessarily.
You know, some familiar faces there. Certainly.
You don't have the Kyrie, Irving's and Cady's of the world as a Brooklyn.
I wouldn't mind seeing them move forward because it would feel like it's a young core like a carousel.
Jared Allen being a contributor, obviously.
Spencer Dinwiddie, Joe Harris, some younger guys, but not young superstars in the the Pacers, Miami Heat or a nice one.
A guy like seeing out a bio would be a really fun player to see.
They're a little bit Celtics.
Likewise same thing and established Tatum.
He feels like to me, he's the Eastern Conference players, similar to a Luca who had a real step forward this year in terms of his play.
You'd love to see him get into a deeper playoff run.
And then you talk about Siachen with the Toronto Raptors again, no commodity has already won a championship.
Obviously, on then we know about the Milwaukee Bucks.
So there's not nearly as many young superstar towns that you'd love to see advance over in the Eastern Conference.
But out there in the West Man, I would just how great would it be to maybe see a Dallas Mavericks turn it on and make a surge towards that? And in order to do so, they're going to run through a gauntlet.
Um, you know the bottom line, I think you take away from this and I was just talking with Matt Brooks yesterday about best young team going forward.
You're going to get to see such incredible matchups, especially that first ramp.
And even if you have, it seemed like the Lakers, who are thinking about putting this thing in Khost for a little bit of that first round.
If they end up having to take on, say the pelicans, you're going to see Ah Young, hungry, aggressive team that has absolutely zero to lose in the first round of the playoffs.
It will be a playoff appearance for Zion in his rookie season.
You have a couple of players coming over there for the Lakers from last year that maybe you want to get a little chip on their shoulder, half some revenge.
That that Siri's to get real exciting.
They're in the Western Conference.
Unfortunately, it doesn't feel the same way in the East.
You're gonna have to get probably, at least to that second round.
And that's where things could be interesting.
When you start to think about the Heat, the Celtics, the rafters in the Bucks, those games can start to get a little more enticing.
But for me, a lot of the early round energy is going to come from that Western Conference, and it's going to be thinking about Is there any upsets there for one of the L A teams, potentially and then even beyond that second round? While I wouldn't mind seeing Houston Rockets team with everything in the background there, D'Antoni is even coming back next year, then getting to that next round of maybe surprising teams in some ways because they've been the perpetual just shy coming up short year after year.
So maybe they surge.
But that again would be a veteran team with Westbrook and hard in there.
So it would be interesting to see if a and again, unfortunately, another side of the Dallas and Memphis.
We're gonna have a real hard track to get there if those are the two teams that make it a specifically Memphis A supposed to Portland Trail Blazers or maybe even the New Orleans Pelicans, which is what I think the NB overalls hoping for.
But then that second round you even okay, See, How about Chris Paul leading? You know, leading young players with Steven Adams there and that weird blend that they've got going on if they all the sudden mates of noise.
So there's a lot of energy around this thing, but for my money, your best bet to see someone bull out from from Game one from tip off all the way through.
You have to look at one of these young players at the back end of either conference, where they know it's 100 miles an hour from the word go if they want to have an opportunity.
And that's why Luca, who were too, showed so much this season is going to be spectacular, watched by the end of the day as I die Greste from my own point, talents everywhere, just fun games, exciting games everywhere.
And I think the best you can hope for at the very least, Eastern or Western Conference is to find yourself in a 21 scenario in that first round right that the upstart team, the young team, the underdog team just get steals a game at some point because of the conditions, no home court advantage.
Maybe they just come out a little bit more hungry and make thes syriza little bit interested in create a little bit attention before you get into those second rounds.
That being said, I think I've covered it, man, and you can tell I'm a Luca guy and there's nothing to do with the fact that I may have put a little bit of a bet on the Dallas Mavericks early in the season to take the championship.
That has nothing to do with it.
I just like the young star, and I like to see what he importing it can do in the playoffs.
