beyond sports talk channel, where I'm here to talk a little bit about the New England Patriots, and I'm trying to figure out how to use this camera in landscape mode.
So bear with me.
I've always got have been doing it just portrait.
But I know that this is the full screen romance was a few things I'm gonna talk about today.
I want to look a little bit at Mohammed Sunu.
We put out a ah workout video last week.
I want to talk about just what we should expect out of the Patriots wide receiving corps, just kind of as a whole.
What's going on with Joe Tooni? How important is Dante Hightower to this team? And look, what will the NFL looked like this season? So I'm not sure if you guys all saw the mom.
It's new workout video that he put out on.
Ah, I think it came out on Thursday last week where he was just running some crazy held drills and he was, you know, running on.
And it was all Everything was a pill he was doing with resistant, brand resistant bands who's running routes.
He was doing cone drills.
Um, showing a lot of power in his leg, which is good considering that he's coming off that ankle surgery of, ah in the off season.
And, you know, I think it's fair to say that Mama's new was a bit of Ah disappointment last season.
Obviously, ballot check used a second round draft pick to bring a man.
Tom Brady really wanted to get him involved, being a veteran receiver and that kind of thing.
And look, he had a really solid game against the Ravens, hurt his ankle and was just not the same the rest of the season.
This special teams play was a mediocre.
As a receiver, he suddenly developed the case of the Drops, which I think could come around.
Could be because of that injured ankle.
You know, when you're thinking about the pain in the foot, sometimes it won't connect with hands.
You know, we saw Julian Edelman have record drops last year, and I think a lot of that had to do with his ribs and the pain that he was going through.
And you know, when we talk about what we should expect that, um Mohammed Sunu should we expect a bounce back season.
Should we expect that kind of thing? I don't know.
Um, I don't think it's unfair to say that we could see the possibility of Mohammad Sanu bouncing back this season and actually having a solid output in solid performance.
Does he become like a number one or number two on the team? I don't know.
I think that what a lot of people are expecting a projecting is becomes the Patriots number three behind Edelman and McKeel Harry.
And obviously for that to really go into fruition, Nikkila Harry has to take a big step forward.
And you know, Adelman need to stay healthy and all that kind of stuff.
So that's sort of an interesting case to think about.
But when you're looking at all man with Muhammad's to new, I mean, I think there's a really big possibility that he could come out and have a really solid year for the Patriots.
Take a big step forward, show a massive improvement from where he was last season, and if that happens and yeah, he could be a solid number three.
I think we saw glimpses, especially in the Cleveland game, and then obviously in that in the ah, the Baltimore game of what he can accomplish and how good that he can be.
So it I don't know.
It will be interesting to see if Seenu is ableto have that bounce back and get that stuff done and, you know, be the receiver that he needs to be.
It's great to see that he his strength is coming back.
It's great to see that he's really moving forward.
And, you know, and when you look at the rest of the Patriots receiving quarters, the whole on what to expect.
Obviously, look, last year the receiving corps was a disaster we know was a disaster.
I mean, nobody can turn around and deny that things just didn't go well for the New England Patriots last year.
Because of that, I believe that the Patriots are You're going to see players.
They need to step up.
I think you're going to see Adam and take a big leadership role, especially with Julian Edelman no longer on the team.
There's also, you know, a thought process out there that perhaps guys like on a keel, Harry or guys like Jacoby Meyers may have better seasons this year because Brady isn't on the team.
Not that anybody is accusing Jared Stadium of being a better quarterback.
That's not the case now and will never be the case.
It's gonna be, you know, a long time.
And the only quarterback who could really ever test Brady for his status the greatest of all time is possibly Mohammed's possibly Patrick my home, but he's got you know, another 15 to 17 years before he can really be in that conversation because you can't just look at accomplishments.
You have to look at longevity and not just longevity, longevity and success and success, and you can have into your older ages.
And and there's a lot of things and a lot of bars that Tom Brady set that people that people are going toe need to take in to consideration.
When you when you look at things on, when you're trying to read those best of all times and look what I always say with the best of all time, that's an argument that will never be one, because there's some generations are going to say Johnny Unite, This was the greatest of all time.
Some people are gonna say Joe Montana.
Obviously, I'm gonna stay Tom Brady.
You know, there's probably gonna be people in, like, five years.
They're saying, Mom, it's a new There's some weird people like Packers fans who believe it's Aaron Rodgers.
You know, I think Aaron Rodgers is the most talented quarterback and could possibly be overall and skill set the best quarterback.
I just don't see him as the greatest of all time from an accomplishment standpoint and all that kind of thing.
So that being said, we could see an improvement out of Myers and Harry.
We all know Jacoby Meyers had a really good connection with Jared Stadium during the preseason.
Last year couldn't really connect with Tom Brady.
Brady didn't want to work with rookies.
He only wanted to throw to the veterans, and, um, and then you got like, um, Marqise Lee, who could be the most underrated signing for the Patriots right now, because he's really a great receiver and he is a possible number one on a team.
He's just been dealing with injuries for so many years.
If this guy's things healthy, Patriot fans are gonna absolutely love him, and he's this.
That's a signing that I think really flew under the radar.
Um, he could continue on his injured ways and doesn't turn into anything that the Patriots are expecting out of him.
But I think is Pats fans, You know, we gotta have a little bit of confidence that we're going to see a solid or we could see a solid, solid wide receiver if health, you know, stays there.
And then I mean, like, you can't count these guys receivers our tight ends.
But you got keen and Asea see who I expect to be A big part of the Patriots offense this year is going to change things.
I read an interesting take last week that were saying like It's now at the point where we just have to consider James White as a part of the Patriots receiving corps because that's essentially what he gets used for a week in and week out.
So, I mean, there's a lot of things to take into consideration when you think about, you know, the Patriot receiving core and a part of things like to like Jared Stadium is gonna be a big piece.
Whether this court can improve, they're gonna be an important piece to him whether you know how he can perform.
But the offensive line is also gonna be another thing.
And there's been a lot of talk lately about Joe Tuning, I think was Albert Breer, who came out and said, You know, he could see the Philadelphia Eagle First thing was kind of presented as the Philadelphia Eagles.
We're an actual player for Joe Tooni because they lost their starting guard toe to Tauron a C L.
I forget the guy's name for the tour's A C l a couple weeks ago, but then it's like, Well, no, first they're going to try out young guys and then, you know, if they get halfway through training camp and realized these guys don't have it while, then they'll go and they'll go after Joe Tooni.
So it's really just a theory that they're in on Joe to me.
And for all we know, like I know it's looking more and more like two knees gonna play on the franchise tag this year that no deal is gonna get worked out.
I wonder if Belichick is just trying to buy time because the pages are gonna have $100 million in salary cap heading in the next offseason.
And I wonder if Allah checks is buying time to re sign to me because he sees them as an important piece of this team.
Also, when you're looking at a young quarterback like, you know, everybody was really upset that the Patriots didn't really sign and receivers in draft and he was a receiver.
He beats up the defense.
He beefed up the, you know, got new tight ends he brought to me back in on the franchise tag.
Hey, David Andrews announces, Return back that offensive line.
And that defense is gonna be so important that Jared Stadium this year, who's gonna be more of a gay manager? They brought in.
Ah, you know, a new full back after that, well before Dublin retired.
But I think they were just looking for for options and again, the run game and all that.
That's all gonna become.
And it's gonna be a big factor in New England's game plan this year.
So, Joe, to me, at least 2020 season, in my opinion, was worth more than any free agent wide receiver that could have been on the market because and Jared stadiums under constant pressure like we saw Tom Brady last year.
With the offensive line being so beat up, he's gonna have zero success at all.
And I know and the problem is around, much paid. Your fans are gonna blame.
Stint on last year was the offensive line's fault.
Not Tom Brady, but Patriot fans of blame Brady.
So I think two knees gonna be.
I don't think the page is gonna trade Tooni and less.
They're like unless the Patriots are already out of it at the trade deadline.
I don't see them trading Joe Tooni.
I see them in a situation where they want him there to help develop Stadium on the defensive side of things.
I mean, we talked about this.
The death to the Patriots lost Jamie Collins.
They lost the land of Roberts.
They lost. Ah, Kyle Van Noy.
Three major pieces of that Boogie Men linebacking corps last season, but play they still have happens to be my favorite player.
Dante Hightower and I read in a player profile about him today, and he could be the Patriots most important player on defense this year.
I know that Devin McCourty is always looked at as the captain of the of the secondary, and he is so important to that secondary as well.
But I think the defense as a whole because you got what young linebackers and you got in the Jays and the Kyle Duggars who's, you know, Duggar is gonna be a hybrid player.
You got chased, win a ***** who's going to be a hybrid player and play probably play more of that Kyle Van Noy role this year.
John Bentley still developing as a linebacker, and we really saw a difference in Jawan Bentley When Hightower was on the field last year when he was off to field and how much High Tower complimented Jon Bentley's game, Hightower could be the Patriots most important player on the team this year.
And that's not just my fandom speaking.
That's really just me trying to realistically look at this team and see just how important leadership is gonna be.
His game play is gonna be.
We know he's a big moment guy, you know.
That's why they call him Mr February because of all this, you know, suitable performances.
When you got a guy that complained that kind of pressure on a team that's gonna be very reliant on defense, to have any chance of being competitive this year.
You need a guy like high tower leading the fray.
Now I see all of this well, trying not to get my hopes up too much.
Not about Oh, maybe the page to be good.
And maybe it'll be bad.
I'm trying to get my whole not get my hopes up too much, but they're actually being an NFL season this year.
To me, it's starting to sound like they're already conceding.
There's gonna be no fans.
Roger Goodell said.
Their confidence he's going to start.
Or an NFL insider, I guess there said their confidence.
He's going to start, but not confident to be fans Robert Kraft and the Patriots.
Or are we already allowing 2020 season ticket holders too excited furlough them to the 2021 season and using that year instead of straight up canceling them? And, you know, you just get to keep them.
You know, you've already paid for 2021.
Um, I'm getting really worried.
You know, when you're looking at spikes in Arizona, you got like, all the Texas teams that are coming down with coverted Florida's a mess. The tank couple.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers A Kobe you're seeing, uh, NHL players and MLB players who tested positive Coben.
And as numbers continue to spike, whether you're testing a lot more testing not, I mean, if you stop testing, obviously you won't have new numbers, but realistically, I think it's becoming a problem.
I'm not here to debate Coated with you.
If you're gonna tell me that Kobe is a farce and it's fake, I'm gonna tell your full of, you know, You know what? Um and I can say that and you can't argue me. It's my platform.
You don't like it turned it off.
Um, I'm more worried now.
I actually have been less worried about there being no season because I've been watching like the NHL making, you know, plans and and baseball and basketball is they're all starting to make plans on returning.
I know there's some resistance in some places, whatever.
And then I'm looking at the NFL season going well, this is September, so I mean, if we're already here now, I think Major League Soccer starts on July 8th in Europe.
You've already got the Bundesliga, the German soccer league, in the Premier League, which is English.
Lee. They're up and running.
I think the Spanish league is back up.
There's gonna be Champions League in August, so I'm like, I'm already starting to use sports.
Look out By September, NFL will be fine, Man.
The here in Canada are numbers weren't spiking the way they were down there, but we went through a spike like this.
We went through it in.
It took us a couple months to get out of this spike and get back down to bending that curb again.
And I'm worried that this spike this is even pre second wave.
This is still the first wave of it.
I'm worried by the time we get to September, there's gonna be no season whatsoever.
Um, and you know, if the offseason seems long enough this offseason during Cove, it has been even worse.
And if there is no season or a delayed season, that doesn't start collect December or something like that, because I believe that the NFL could play from like December till March and then start their offseason in March.
But if that's the case.
If that's the way this is all turning around and flipping around, I mean, it's Ah, it's socks, man.
It's gonna be a long time.
I can live without baseball Who, by the way, I'm so between the owners and the players, like, I hope that nobody watches that organ.
You know that sport.
If it does come back, they had the chance to be the only show in town.
This is literally This isn't about your hearing.
All these other players, arguments and other sports is all about player safety and that kind of thing.
The reason there's no baseball season yet is completely money driven, and that's what's irritated me on that from both sides of it.
And it's already man amongst young people.
I think I'm like one of the younger generations as like a group to really be in the baseball, and I'm 33 years old because we did a poll on my DPMNE commentary podcast with Connor Carney a couple weeks ago, and everybody who was like under the age of 20 all had baseball rated last.
And so you know, I, you know, imagine.
I can't imagine what's going through their head right now.
I guess a lot of them don't remember 1994 on what happened after that strike here.
But anyways, when I'm seeing all the other stuff going on, though, and training camps closing down again after the reopen, I'm getting more and more nervous than more more worried that we're not going to see a a football season in September.
So we're doing a lot of talking about It's what's and butts and, well, well, Brady do in Tampa.
Well, Jamal Adams, go be a cowboy and I mean, we're talking about stuff.
I'm gonna be on SportsCastr news tonight.
I'm sure we're gonna be chatting about something there.
And I'm just like it's just all going to be for nine.

And I'm reading a lot of stuff.
According twins. Er are being They're nervous.
It's The people are nervous.
They're not optimistic.
