sports talkin sports caster news and I'm here today to talk a little bit about Well, my favorite scene, the New England Patriots in this quick fire DPMNE video Here I was just on live with my boys Joe new Beau and, um, Lawrence o in talking about basically we're talking about the NFL.
The news came out today that teams are gonna have toe hold practices and training camps at their own stadium.
There will be no joint practices.
And we really talked about all this sort of different things we could envision in the NFL this year. No fans.
Who does that affect? Who Doesn't it affect who? You know that kind of stuff? What happens? Will there be a season? What if there's a spike in covert cases? All that kind of stuff? It's on my channel.
My affiliate Sportscasting Channel.

But right now what I want to do is I want to talk about my boy Patrick Chung and why he could be the Patriots.
Most valued player.
And you know what, man like is he one of the Patriots most valuable players.
I think he really is, and it takes a miracle for me to be on the same page as Ben Volin because I just I'm not a fan of Ben and I think people who've been following me for a long time, they know that.
But he came out today, wrote an article in The Boston Globe talking about how Patrick Chung was the Patriots, most died player, and the more I thought about it, the more I agreed with him.
When you break it all down and you look at what Patrick Chung brings to the team, it's really his experience, but also his versatility.
We all know if you want to be successful in New England, you have to bring versatility to the team.
He's able to be a multi dimensional player for the Patriots.
He can play safety.
He can play sort of the hybrid linebacker role.
He can play the past game.
You can play the run game, we'll go out and cover tight ends.
He's really versatile.
He's a leader on the team.
I think it was back in 2018.
That bill ballot check came out and said that Patrick Chunk is one of the best players in the NFL.
So when you break it all down, I mean, that's kind of what I see now.
When we think about Chung, people are, you know, people like to bring up.
He's going into his Ah, his 13th his 12th year here in football, it's gonna be his 11.
With the Patriots, you spent one year at the Philadelphia Eagles.
He was a second round pick prior to going to the Eagles. And you might.
People may want to ask, What's the difference between Patrick Chung his first time around to a second time around? And basically, Bilbao check admitted that he didn't use Patrick Chung properly.
They kind of used him as a zone safety.
He got lost in all the space.
It's not the kind of game that he plays.
He's an aggressive past, covers with good.
With the tight ends, you can go first point of contact, they can get all that kind of stuff out of the way and when you sort of break it all down and look at Patrick Chung this second time around, he was playing on near the line of scrimmage.
He was getting in there and he was, you know, stopping the run.
He was covering tight ends.
He was being more reversal player, not just playing that zone.
Safety Patrick Chung for real is one of those players that Bill balance check just absolutely loves.
He was talking about how strong is the kind of player he never wants to come off the field.
He'll take snaps on offense.
It takes snaps on special teams.
He takes snaps on defense during the during this laundry praxis.
But he was like he was like Rodney Harrison and my Grable guys had never wanted to come off the field.
Ah, he's returned kicks.
He's returned punts.
He sort of at when you think about a stereotypical bill ballot check, type of player who's going to be a guy that is going to be exactly what Belichick wants.
Patrick Chung hits every single box on that list.
You know he can play.
I mean, really, if he's taking if he's on the scout team playing offense for the Patriots, you're really looking at a guy that could possibly be in a situation to play all three phases of game.
He plays two phases of the game.
The only reason he wasn't really prominent in the Patriots run game last year was because of his injury.
So there's a lot of things that Patrick Chunk and do.
Was I surprised that the patrons extended in this year.
At first? Yes and no.
I knew at first why he did it.
They extended him at first because they wanted Teoh.
They needed to free of cap space.
But they had a sign Kyle Duggar yet so they needed to fill up that space.
So what I'm what I see is in those kind of situations is Oh, no, but that was that kind of situation.
But then the more I kind of looked in the park Chung and thought about everything that he does.
I'm not surprised because he is a typical sort of bill ballot Czech player.
Hey, Erin, how's it going, buddy? Thanks for coming in.
Um, he is the kind of guy who is going Teoh.
He's the type of guy who's gonna just get all over the field, and then you think about the progression of Kyle Duggar, who's really next in line to be the next, Patrick Chung Chung is gonna play a very valuable role and getting Duggar ready for the NFL.
He's gonna play that role in the sense of getting him to the point where he's able to take that position because Duggar is a hybrid.
And I mean and I love that The pages were going with these hybrids got chased.
Wind of it was like that.
Rob Ninkovich is Ah, he's a defensive end.
He can drop back and play outside linebacker.
You've got Patrick Chung and Alcohol Duggar, who could come in and play almost like a linebacker position to stop the run.
They could go on play safety.
They got Luce, who can play edge and linebacker.
They just got so much versatility on this team.
But very young rookie Duggar rookie win of its second year player, Bentley third year player.
The to sort of veterans in that from the middle piece there is Dante, High Tower and Topkin trunk that are going to need to kind of keep this whole team together.
One thing else to read and practices trunk practices with the defensive lineman.
Not that we're ever going to see Patrick trying playing on the D line for basically, what about check with breaking down was he spent so much time on the line? He needs to be there again.
It just seems like that sort of perfect patriot.
And when we think about this season and we think about what are our overall expectations, what is Patrick trying gonna bring to the 2020 Patriots? He's gonna bring? Leadership is gonna bring grit If he can stay healthy.
I expect him to be a big part of that game with Ron Harm and gone.
Now that's a piece of the leadership gun.
Of course, Devin McCourty is there important in the Patriots as important leadership for them.
But when you kind of break all those other pieces down, a guy like Patrick Chung can be huge and making sure that the Patriots develop all those young players.
And look, I'm still not completely sold that the Patriots are gonna be a competitive team this year.
There are at least gonna be a top five defense, even with losing Kyle Van Noy and Jamie Collins.
Obviously a lot of pressure is gonna fall in Jared Stadium to try to perform, but if it's any indication, like last season, that Patriots defense and the special teams could be enough to keep the Patriots, at least in a playoff spot.
And when you break that down, who are you gonna depend on your going to depend on the veterans to get you through? Yeah, the rookies need to make place.
Yeah, the second years.
Even big place, the young. I still need to play.
We don't need to step up, Doug.
Ready to step up.
Lucia needs to step up all those kind of guys, but it's gonna be trunk Gilmore, McCord e.
You know Jason McCord both MK Ortiz, those air the veterans gonna bring in, and then the younger guys like a JC Jackson.
Those are the kind of guys that are gonna have to step up, make place around that leadership of that team.
So I mean, look, Patrick Chung may never be a Patriots Hall of Famer.
He may never be all of them.
He may not be on the top of everybody's list when we talk about hey, who could Who's the most valuable player on the Patriots? But when you break down versatility when you break down, how good he is.
When you bring down what he brings to the team, it's hard to argue that Package chunk isn't that guy with all that being said? Everybody.
Thank you so much for tuning into this last report of the evening.
