and then we're going to talk a little bit about the NFL.
Some of the news that's coming out of that there, maybe a little bit of surprising news, Hell or high water.
It looks like there's going to be a football season whether the Mother Nature and Earth wants there to be or not.
And what is gonna have to see how all things shake out as we roll through this pandemic of this covert 19 and everything in between? So, uh, yes, so soon as the boys come on.
And, uh, we're gonna talk a little bit about it, and I think some of the things I want to discuss with them today and there's Joe as we speak.
Yo, what's going on, guys, Wait, Lawrence poppin.
But you guys are saying, um, hell or high water.
The NFL is going to do everything it possibly can to have an NFL season this year, of course.
And, um, you know, I we will discuss a little bit about that today.
So maybe we can start will jump in Lawrence when we come.
But let me put it to you this way.
So I'm obviously with the events of the last week with the protests and some states not practicing social distancing.
Uh, I have a don't call it a fear, but I have a worry that perhaps we're going to see a spike in numbers for this cove in 19.
So let me ask you, it's sort of a two part question number one.
Do you believe that the NFL will start on time in number two? Will we see a season at all? Oh, man.
I mean, obviously number one And I really do hope that there's a season because I don't know what I would do if this holy I mean, this whole year has just been a drag.
I mean, not only for, you know, football offense, but just everybody in general, like everybody in the world.
Um, so, yeah, it would definitely be ashamed that we wouldn't have that distraction.
You know, a football, because it really does feel sometimes, Like my life revolves around football.
And oh, there is what problems? I just took me a minute.
I just get all the noises out of my room.
I hear you know.
But as I was saying, Yeah, man, I really do hope there is a season.
I do think the NFL is going to do anything in their power to make sure that it proceeds as planned as it's scheduled to be right now.
Uh, you know, but Ah, yeah, This whole training camp thing is gonna be weird.
It's definitely gonna be weird.
I think that it's gonna be uninterested First month of the NFL.
You're going to see a lot of mistakes.
I think a lot of penalties.
A lot of, you know, timing issues, you know, route running, it is going to be off.
So it's gonna be interesting to see for sure.
So let me pose this question to you guys, because there's something I thought a lot about.
Let's pretend that the NFL does kick off and I never give my opinion, so I'll give it real quick.
Um, I think that unless we're in a serious, serious situation, the NFL is going to ensure that football is running.
What? I also believe we're going to see an empty stadium.
I don't think they're going to figure out a way.
I know they've talked about every second seed every third seed.
Like I said, the events of the last week on top of some states is not caring about social distancing at all.
I believe that we're going to see spikes in numbers, probably in the next month.
That's going to continue on until the end of the summer and then incomes football season.
So if it's an empty stadium, does that completely eliminate home field advantage? Interesting.
I'll shoot that toe.
Lawrence does that take away home field advantage.
If there's no crowd, I don't think it end up.
Um, I mean a little bit, obviously, because you know, home Field does feed off their crowd, but like the whole third down thing, I think they're talking about allowing teams to pump in noise speaker systems so that that will add a little bit, at least for the defense.
That will add a little bit.
But when it comes to the offense feeding off, you know the energy of stuff like that, Yeah, it's definitely gonna affect it that way.
So talking about that, so if they're going to allow I mean you could you see all right, so I'm a New England Patriots fans all ill will be the first team accused of this, I can see it, right.
There's probably got to be some rule around the amount of decimal levels that it could be.
You know, it's not gonna be like what has to be, you know, level 15 on your system because obviously a dome.
If it's the same as an infield in an open field stadium, it's gonna pump that much louder, right? Could you first see some issues going into this season where the crowd noise is too loud and coaches just losing their minds on the field? Ah, I don't know.
I mean, it depends what they're gonna do, like what decibel level they're gonna put it at its are like, are they going to try to make it realistic? And whatever the highest recorded decibel level we've had in the stadium will be the highest.
It can go like I don't know how technical they're going to get, but I didn't want to go back to your whole home field advantage thing.
Another thing that you guys didn't bring up is that say, you know, the I still think they have the home field advantage because the other teams have to go to their stadium you know, they still have to make that trip.
Um, so if a West Coast team has to go to an East Coast stadium, it's It's still gonna be a heavy toll on they could have a little bit of jet leg.
So unless you know like we've talked about before, they do a whole thing where everybody just plays at Disneyland or whatever, Right? So and, ah, I'm not sure that I think it's Pauline.
Thank you very much for the popcorn, Um, way prefer alcoholic beverages.
But, hey, you want a beer? Already? The demise of popcorn.
I won't go the something.
Here's another interesting about the crowd noise.
There's times like and this is where it's like Home field could, actually, if they are pumping crowd noise.
This is where home Field could actually be even mawr advantage for a team rather than then with the crowd.
Obviously, look, you're always gonna feed off the energy of the crowd, and we've heard that.
But you know, there's a reason that when teams win the coin toss on the road, they differ.
They want the ball to start the second half because how to stadium still getting the popcorn, smoking their cigarettes.
Whatever they're doing, they're not in the crowd, right? You also have these these moments Where where the You know the crowds out of the game.
It's been a bad stretch, and it's quiet.
Yet you could still be pumping in noise and, you know, and throwing off offenses, even though in regular cir***stances, well, you probably wouldn't have.
You probably wouldn't see.
You know you wouldn't have these.
Ah, that type of noise in the game, right? So it could actually really help out A.
Especially on the defensive side.
It could help a team out.
Well, I mean, generally, when you have 60 70 80 90,000 people, it doesn't matter, after all, trying to, you know, hold their breath.
If they're all breathing, there's noise, right? So that's that's something that your they have to deal with.
Anyhow, it's obvious, you know, third doubt that that work big time comes in, and the noise generally gets really, really loud in some stadium to get so loud that, uh, other teams, even when there isn't always being pumped in there like Hello, Something's going on here, not saying who, because I know that I the culture that situations were teams that have Ah said that that's happened.
Um, another thing is, how many times has your own crowd been a detriment to their team shirt on offense? Right? Uh, now most crowds are pretty pretty good at being able to understand when they need to be allowed when they need to be quiet.
But there's times you know where you're the home team and it's third down and three, and the quarterback is trying to get his cadence out and call out the place.
And the crowd is just being super loud, you know? And you're sitting there seeing the whole offense, that they're trying to weigh down everybody, you know, quiet.
And that's definitely not gonna happen if you know there's someone out there pumping crowd believes in Well, unless they're just not very good at their job, right? Yeah, they don't get it on.
And I also wonder how it will affect certain types of players like those diva receivers like you mentioned Lawrence.
Those players that love to feed off the crowd O b j is not gonna have that Michael Thomas isn't gonna have that.
You know, the diva receivers they're not gonna have that attention.
So I don't know, could that affect their play potentially? Just psychologically.
I just thought of a big one, and I don't think going to be, ah, huge impact and have extra funny to watch.
Like what happens about things like the Lambeau Leap? True, I think I'll just fall through like a number one.
I want to see it happen.
I wanted to be a Lambeau Leap with no, with no fans there to catch them.
But yeah, number two, though.
I mean, that's a that when they jump in the crowd that fires up that crowd, even Mawr, that gets that whole team pumped up.
And there is a thing about the defense feeding off the offensive crowd.
You know, coming off a touchdown, the crowds and a frenzy.
The defense comes out flying and excited, and and and that's where it is Now I want to switch gears for just one second.
Um, yeah, we talk about sports, and this is so, you know, sort of our job.
But we're also fans and, you know, we dedicate will now Thursday nights and Monday nights and all day Sunday to ah you know it's a watching football and, ah, what do you think? An empty stadium, Even if there is pumped in crowd noise, What do you think? An empty stadium game? Do you think that will affect the viewing experience for us as fans watching the games on television? I don't think overall it will, Um, mainly because I think camera angles most of the time cameras.
They only pan out to the crowds when there's a bunch of crowds.
They have specific cards, things like that.
When you're actually watching the game, you got aerial shots.
You have low ground field shots, but you almost don't see many people you know, fan wise when you're when they're actually zoomed in on play.
So I think it's gonna be mostly place and then back with back with, You know, the commentators and things of that nature.
Probably a lot more common painter of shots right now.
So I Yeah, I I agree with Lawrence what he's saying, like you probably won't really think much of it when you're actually watching the play, but when there's those big moments, say there's a turnover, there's really not going to be an audience going crazy like you expect.
You know, that type of stuff it's gonna be I think it's gonna be like, um or visual thing.
I mean, I think, Ray, you've your you say you're a bit of a wrestling fan.
I don't know if you guys have seen it.
How it is now with no crowd.
It is not the same. It is awful.
It's like if anybody needs the pumping crowd, noise is ready.
Ah, honestly, I'm gonna tell you guys the truth.
I haven't watched almost any of it ever since.
They don't know why they're doing it.
I mean, I don't expect to have a crowd, but my buddy and I were explained were saying it to each other, like, were like, Man, this is like a rehearsal.
Yeah, pretty much exactly.
I feel looking sorry.
Look at the code of the foam finger.
Look at that, Dakota.
Thank you, sir, but I know it feels like a rehearsal. Just physical.
Walk through like, you know, you can hear them saying stuff, you know, you're not supposed to hear and you hear them scream.
It's a year, and I also watched it all.
Look at that. Okay, There it is still in.
This is like a competition in a Keep it coming.
Um, but, you know, one of the things that I was, um, I was throwing out was, uh I know you guys don't, but I watch soccer.
Um, you're in the German league Soccer.
I don't know if you don't watch soccer, but I will not the Germans stalker.
But I do understand that.
I didn't mean you guys watch soccer.
I knew from our conversation.
You didn't watch German league soccer right now. Watch four games.
Four weeks or three weeks before games of my team Bayern Munich plane in ah, in an empty stadium.
And I got to say the first week was bad, but it also it looked like the players look like a practice.
The players weren't full intensity.
You started seeing intensity come up and I'll tell you the truth.
Um, the only time now, either They noticed no fans when they score a goal, you know, like it's the only time.
You know, they were at home at the alley and Serena scored a big goal and there was no crowd reaction.
That was the first time I was like, Wow, there's no there's no fans First week Oh, it was noticeable.
Like it was such a noticeable thing. It was weird.
And I, you know, I kind of said to my wife, This is why I actually think go empty stadium.
I wouldn't even mind them not pumping in crowd noise.
It's actually been kind of cool hearing the players, communicating with each other and directing and things that hearing things that we aren't we don't usually hear because the crowd, you know, kind of echoes that out.
And I thought, you know, I would love to hear Tom Brady actually screaming, Audible right.
I mean, like like, what is he saying when he's screaming at is at his at his craft at his linemen? Right? Because even when you're silent as an offense, there's still enough buzz that you don't hear everything happening on the field.
What, what? What did you guys think of that idea to mic up every single player? I don't know who said that, but it was Ah, somebody said, Put that out there.
I think that would be really entertaining.
You know, I don't want to, John Madden said Hey, you know, get Mike's out there on the field because, you know that will give them, like, the coaches experience, right? And that is a good idea.
A little couple things, Obviously, when you have a nasty hit you here like something bad happened.
Like, you know, you actually hear it.
No watching it on tape.
But you could hear it.
A lot of people, especially Children.
Yeah, And even worse thing his language.
Yeah, of course.
Eyes on the field.
And these are grown men talking smack to each other ingrown language.
But I think that they already play on a bit of a delay because you can almost hear it when they blank out.
The swear wears one of your close.
Um, but you know what? It's true, because that will.
That would be the XFL, right? The XFL had the coaches miked up.
You could hear them communicating with the quarterback, right? And and you heard it live.
If you put him on a five second delay, a producer could be there to sort of blank out the ah, you know, blank out the swear words.
I hear that you can't just run it live, though, Mike.
Unless you're putting on definitely not.
Maybe maybe during the replay, once they, you know, screen it before they could do something like that.
I think I think a lot of coaches would have ah hissy fit when when they're sitting there trying to call out place, you know, because I will be looking to say even a five second delay.
You know it If you're if you could hear the coach calling out the place, that means the other coach on the other team could hear the offensive call of real quick change their, you know, play call.
Here's got to be something.
Here's another piece that I never thought of, Um, but strategically, will we see more signals used this year for the empty stadium? Because unless they pump in, let's pretend for suddenly don't pump in the crowd noise right? They can't, because if they're going to do that, it has to be fair.
Across the board.
You can't have a louder stadium than the other because you're pumping in artificial noise.
Let's stay. It stays quiet.
If I'm a defensive team, I'm telling my cornerback I want you to run to their sidelines.
You what? I mean, every time they're calling out there plays and just list, you know? I mean, and you think about if you're right in front of the bench and the offensive coordinator there is talking into his headset and going, you know? Ah, you know, Audible.
They're showing Blitz Goto.
You know, ****** 33.
You got your corner back there.
Just put sand in the air, Ope audible.
You know, they're going past player.
They're going run, play.
It's there could be a little bit more of a chess match and you might start seeing more signals being thrown out there just because it'll be that much easier.
How many times do we see coaches screaming on on the sidelines? Well, now that's gonna echo across the whole building for everybody here and will be easy to pay attention to.
I think you're gonna end up.
I think this is going to get solved really easy really quickly.
I think that by the by the end of week one you're gonna have, like, how a few coaches already have a few teams where your offensive coordinator is relaying the play call to the quarterback from way upstairs behind glass.
You know, I think that's what you're gonna end up having.
And that way there's not going to be any way of actually here because, I mean, that's something, you know, the quarterbacks not gonna have fit here like this.
And the offense, according you don't have to be screaming into its mike because you know, So, yeah, I think that you're gonna have whoever calling out your play, even even if it's your head coach.
Because there are a lot of head coaches that are also the offensive coordinator or takes, takes that role.
You could just whisper into it, Mike, right? You know, he will not have to screen.
You just step back with for a little bit.
The quarterback quarterback might have to do this to keep that speaker for being too loud outside his helmet, that keep it.
I want oh, change, not change gears.
But keep talking about it since we're on this road, though, but there's a good chance that we're not gonna see college football this year.
We'll hold on so before we get into that I don't know if you guys just saw, but Adam Schefter just tweeted out that there's not gonna be any joint practices this summer, which I think is to be expected.
So, yeah, it's That's what I figured when they said You can't travel of your stadium, that there wouldn't joint.
So that's going to change things a lot.
Anyway, but there's a good chance is not going to college football this year. Exane C. W.
Has basically said, Unless every state is your lha, unless every school is able to participate there, you don't mean if if, if some Division three school can't play, it's gonna Andy NC double season, right? So if that happens, the NFL is for floated out.
The idea of plain on Saturdays as well You really means to fill that void on Saturdays.
I love football, just like you guys love football.
But this Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, every week, just seem like like what are you looking forward to anymore? If it's not, you know, I mean, unless it's because we always look forward to our teams, and then everything else is just football, right? But it just feels like not like We're already getting a three days a week and, you know, during the playoffs, I don't mind.
During the end of the season and near the playoffs, get the occasional Saturday game.
It's a good, you know, good break up of a day.
But Saturday, Sunday Monday, like, I just feel like I'll be football doubt.
Bye bye, Week 10.
Well, I'm kind of bias in this situation.
Um, my, my team is a small market team, and, uh, they have one primetime game this year right away, they haven't hosted a primetime game in five years, Five years, which is stupid if they want to play.
Uh, some Saturday games dropped one a week and maybe put some of those small market teams that nobody really watches the whole lot because they're small market teams.
They're that way more people could get in and understand how those teams actually play that.
That's my thought.
Okay, so here's my Here's my reaction to that.
So I think if we're talking baseball, if we're talking basketball, yes, of course, I wouldn't want to watch that much of that game, but I am obsessed with football.
I have once called out of work just to finish watching a Jaguars versus Titans Thursday night football game.
That's how sick I am.
So, no, I would Look, Yeah, I know I was.
That wasn't one of my best days.
I'm not proud of it, But listen, I would love it if it was on Saturday.
Now, I'm not a I gotta admit, I'm not a huge watcher of college football.
I do like watching tape, and I'll occasionally come in here and there, but I think it's because I don't really have a college football team, which is why I'm not invested so well, yeah.
I mean, if if they want to replace, you know, Saturday with regular football.
But I think this even brings up a more interesting question here.
Which is what does this mean for the for the draft next year? Right? Because now we're not going to see these guys play.
So we just have to go off of their tape from the past few years, right? Yeah.
There's a lot of things before we jump to the draft.
Let's finish that conversation.
I think we could get into a way deeper.
I think we get to a deeper conversation about the draft.
My my concerns about Saturday's from a let's say, a e broadcasting perspective is what is the NFL accomplishing? Is it? The NFL has been working so hard to become global, not just be an American market, right? And they've moved into Europe and they've done all this other stuff.
So number one this year, all the international games are cancelled, right? It's they're gonna cancel.
The international games are there already canceled, so we know that's not happening.
This isn't me, but this is most of Canada.
Saturday is hockey night in Canada.
That's like a That's a that's a dot to Canada's equivalent Monday Night Football in the United States.
Right? You on immune like you don't miss.
So you're gonna lose the Canadian market Saturday in England is English Premier League.
You know what I mean? And you're you're not going to get a lot of those fans.
So the Saturday game, That's why Lawrence idea of the smaller market teams.
Maybe the the better thing, because I believe that your it's going to be a very American centric heavy audience, right? Compared to the worldwide obvious audience of the U.
S. that the NFL's got used to.
Because the traditions of you remember, football is relatively newer in most countries compared to the, you know, the national sport.
I mean, there's always been NFL in Canada, but the NFL crazy is maybe.
That's what I'm talking about.
That boy Dakota.
Oh, thank you, sir.
Um, but ah, you know, the NFL crazies.
Maybe only 20 years old here.
You mean we're like, people are obsessed with football, so I just I just fear for that.
So I think a smaller team market may work better.
I don't know if you guys want to add to that, or do you want to go into the draft? Uh, no, I think you're right.
I think you're right.
And it looks like we have another guest here, huh? Little shadow.
Welcome, Shadow to the Broncos.
Joe, you brought up a really interesting point that I haven't even considered yet.
Like, I was just been thinking about the entertainment value from fans and that kind of thing.
But how do you do you realize that this is a year switch? Joe Burrows, 1/4 round draft pick okay.
No year low project.
Wouldn't have had that last year.
Yeah, I got you because he was worried that guaranteed First through, will it have been the number one overall? Yep.
Now, it's really weird, cause tool would have been a Cincinnati Bangles.
You know, Borough would have been, Ah, Pearl would have been 1/4 rounder.
Who the hell knows who we would have went? Teoh, What happened? What I do? Oh, crab, why don't you go twice? I know what's going on.
What I think is how important Joe is, man.
Yeah, Double double Joe. There you go.
OK, I don't know which I'm removing one.
I hope I removed the right God, If you're gon come back, let's find out.
My Joe I was wrong. One.
Uh, Now you got to remove the fake joke so that really Joe can come in and get him before otherwise you have to make that same decisions. Wife.
Yeah, I love the wrong one.
It's not even letting me remove this one, if not letting you remove it. No.
Oh, that's not good.
Oh, there you go.
Maybe Dakota did it.
Now I gotta wait up. Good job.
I think that was a penalty.
Joe request to come back.
Request to be to be a host.
I don't think you know that.
Does he invite? There's Joe.
How did Joe Joe guy invited Joe? I invited your job.
Very. I remove the wrong one. Man.
I don't know what happened there, but here we are.
I want to take a gas that I went the wrong way and, uh, going through the coat of little whistle at me.
Well, we're back it.
And I always want to give a big shout out to my guy Aaron here.
I assume this is the air, and that is about to send me my stack of cards that I just purchased.
Oh, that's sports memorabilia.
Yeah, way went beyond.
We went beyond Lamar Jackson through the air in that elite three of this would Yeah, Yeah.
Hey, what's up, man? Anyway, now you're gonna have more raven stuff than Patriots stuff.
Now, why don't got no, I got right, Got a treat.
So he's got other studies. Good.
Um, but, uh, even got a patron from him, so were were nice.
But look, I want to, um yeah, I want to talk about this more, cause yeah, you think about the implications of so I mean, if there's no college football season, Trevor Lawrence is the first overall pick next year, right? No.
And I think the big thing is, though, is people don't really emphasize.
Here is the next big offensive linemen in the kind of That's true near the end of the college season, and it really doesn't get highlight until we get deeper into the draft.
I mean, does that make a guy like, say, like Mel Kiper, who we usually don't see until you know around draft time? Is he now a guy who is on Mawr so he can introduce people to some of these players? Most likely, Yeah.
I mean, because you do see, like Mott, they call them super early mock drafts or whatever, where they literally the next day after a draft, they mock draft for the next year.
So obviously they already have a pretty good idea of who you know the prospects should be.
But yeah, I think you'll probably see more draft guys come out just to really give us an idea.
But yeah, the offensive linemen, One is a really good point that I didn't think about, either.
Yeah, so we know that the scouts will have an idea because they've already been scouting him since they were freshmen.
But I think it's fans were going to be a little right, you know? Well, I mean, even if the point is I had a ah Ravens fan today, Joe, that I think he must have connected with me through use amount on Twitter.
But he was asking me about Dobyns and about his blocking style.
Well, here's a guy who just set a record at Ohio State for the most yards in this season.
He's the, you know, the most decorated Ohio State running backbeat.
Eddie Georgia. You would.
I mean of all time, and I had to tell him things about him.
So even high profile guys, you know, the casual fan or if you're a fan of the the SEC, you're not paying attention to the Big 10 like I've pay attention to the SEC.
But the Big 10 is always my focus.
There's just so many schools.
I think it's fans.
It's gonna be harder to navigate the draft.
And I mean Okay, so Trevor Lawrence is easy.
Maybe we know some of the big offensive lineman.
How do you start? How did how did these GM start picking their six and seventh round picks? Yeah, it's tough.
And we'll and you got to think about the wide receivers who have those big break out, you know, senior seasons that they're just not gonna have.
So it's just you gotta be projecting really on grooming.
Obviously, they, uh, like your GM, your NFL, G.
M's and and your scouts are going to get your they know what to look for writing the year before.
So they're gonna be ableto to go through and look at that.
But there's a lot of a lot of players that wouldn't get their start until their senior season, right? You know, And so you would have no information on them at all, not even not even the GM.
So that's kind of that's a little bit worrying, because there are players who didn't get their start until their senior season and they're going to the draft and even get picked 1st 1st round or what? Not because they just show, You know, that whole job borough situation, You know, they just had a great senior season.
Well, I look at a guy like the Patriots first pick in the second round.
Kyle Duggar, you know? Ah, second division school.
You know, most people have never heard of this school before.
Ah, but all of a sudden he starts.
You know, at first I thought Bill Bell check was crazy, and the more he ratted him, though, there was more people Mel Kiper included that we're putting that kid is a potential second rounder.
But, I mean, how often like that's what I'm thinking about the division to kids like Antonio Brown was a division to write.
Like, how are they going to be noticed, You know, to be dropped it up And here's another one for you guys.
If the NFL goes on strike, these guys are professional athletes.
Their job is their body.
They're going to just work out every day.
They're going to run things.
They're gonna probably get together.
His teammates, almost every day in practice, like a regular, keep themselves in game shape.
These air student athletes they still have school to go to.
And honestly, if I'm unless I'm Trevor Lawrence, Um, I'm sitting there going like Okay, my education means even more to me now because I may not get drafted because they may not have any idea who the hell I am.
The street Could we see different versions of like, the senior? But I mean, could we wouldn't could we see like, the Or do we, you know, like just different sort of Shoki even showcase games like 19 just combines and showcases.
But actually, you know, showcase games go down Alabama watch White vs Red.
You know, like, could we see maybe that sort of adoption Hey, well, I think that they'll probably put a lot more emphasis on the combine and maybe they'll want to add more drills to the combine.
You know, more like actual football drills, Which, to be honest, they should have done a long time ago.
But, um, you know, I'm sure I at least that's what I would think.
I think that would be a good idea to just add some more drills at the combine so you can really see a little bit more about this player, you know? So that could be one thing.
I definitely think that there's not gonna be, you know, where you see guys that are soft Morphin Juniors leaving early to go the NFL.
You won't see that this year.
Now there's only one other other thing I could see Maybe happening, and it would make sense.
So where you guys were aware of the summer league, right, That's all.
Like I think Johnny Manziel wasn't it a couple of years ago? It's basically all guys that were either in the NFL or didn't get drafted.
And you playing this summer league hoping toe.
So, you know, get caught and, you know, get caught up.
Well, there's two things.
Here's a big one.
The XFL has shut down now, right? How important could the XFL up in next winter? Yeah, but I mean, leading into the draft, signed a whole whack of college kids and seniors and stuff and let them play in the XF foul for a year, right? Because they would have finished before the draft comes up.
And let's scouts watch them in game things.
Could we see the NFL almost have their own little winter league.
You know, maybe it's in, Ah, neutral zones.
Maybe there's a you know, all this is what Ford four domes.
Maybe it's in the four Dome stadiums here.
I mean, so and just have, like, almost like a little XFL or help Vince McMahon get his extra fell back up and running again and actually have some sort of scouting toe caps.
I just did a stream, Um, not long ago, where Vince McMahon, uh, there's They are predicting that he is going to buy back the XFL on a much lower buy back since he, you know, obviously filed for bankruptcy with it and that you know he's not gonna have to pay back a lot of the things that he's gonna have to pay back anyhow because of the bankruptcy.
But he might be able to get XFL back by next year.
The only issue is obviously, he's gonna have.
He's gonna lose from fan base because right now he's still it was like $350 million to season ticket holders, and he owes, you know, a all all the people that he fired just out of the blue.
Like the ex president.
That was Andrew Luck's dad, you know, stuff like that.
Um, but I think that if he does, if he plays his cards right and place it right, I think he could probably come back next year and be stronger than he was this year.
And then use that, as you say, with college kids coming out in order to try to get a little bit, you know, like you say, you know, the summer league use it.
Is that to get a little bit more of Ah, I catch.
There was a few people in the XFL that got signed to the NFL this offseason.
Like P. J. Walker.
Yeah, P J Walker them? No.
Yeah, it's a big one.
I'm also thinking this summer, um, with CFL because right now it still looks like it's going to be a go on a run.
The Canadian Football League.
Dontrelle Inman, a former ah cold.
He was originally a Toronto Argonaut before he went up to the NFL.
One a great cup down here.
I wonder if maybe some seniors air gonna possibly forego their senior year and go play in the CFL the showcase You what I mean, because usually if you go back is a senior is either from one or two reasons.
It's you actually care about your education and think I want to get my degree or Number two.
It's guys that are like their agents are like, Man, you may be a friend, sixth or seventh rounder.
I would go back and try to have a good senior year and see what happens cause you don't want it because it suited you.
Make yourself eligible.
You no longer eligible for college football.
You don't want to go not making the draft.
Now you've lost your scholarship.
You're paying for school.
What not You might see some of these seniors going The hell with it if I was a friend sixth or seventh last year.
Now I'm a nobody.
I'm gonna go play for admin Tainer Toronto where whoever and let these NFL scouts come check me out.
I also wonder if we see an influx of CFL players or some of these little be leagues get signed because the scouts gnome or say, you know what Gordon sign And that guy in the CFL I know more about him than I know about using a six or seventh round pick.
You're I mean, and, you know, I'll just trade my sixth away for next year when I could do it.
I think next year's draft there's no college football.
There's gonna be a lot of late round trades.
There's gonna be guys.
Trade teams are gonna be training up, not down.
They're going to trying to get away from those later rounds and build.
Caltex was gonna be sitting there with his net, his big old net trashing everybody up.
Well, next time, where's the next Tom Brady? Especially with all the ah, you know, the criticism that the N C double gets? Ah, you know, not paying their players.
So maybe some of these players, they're going to say, You know what? Screw you.
I'm just gonna go play in the CFL, or if the XFL comes back, I'm gonna go play in the XFL instead of studying, you know, because I want to play football.
That's what I'm good at.
So it's possible, you know that I think that the future is uncertain right now, but it could cause so many different riffs, especially the football world NFL With smart.
I think they would go approach of Vince McMahon and say, Hey, if you're going to do an XFL again, let's do this right and let's be partners Because I always thought the XFL could have been a perfect be league for the for the NFL.
You know, it could have been a perfect development league, and I think that I think there's guys who get cut in the draft and they bounce around.
They become practice squad.
It's like, All right, you know what you where You're going to be a practice squad guy, but our affiliate, the New England nickel blockers, your demeanor, whoever you're gonna play for them and the XFL, the stomach.
A lot of baseball players go play winter ball in Australia or in Arizona or Cuba, especially young guys, right that are in the minor leagues.
Some of the times is for the money.
The other times it's, you know, to keep working on their skills and showcase themselves.
This may be an opportunity now where the NFL's almost force like okay, we need to Ah, because I know there was once one team was trying to sign an XFL player while the season was on in the XFL, blocked it and said it was door during the NFL season.
They tried to sign him to the in the expel, blocked in, said no.
He's under contract with us, and the CFL has a very similar thing that they can block an offer from the NFL, even though it's a different league.
And it's an agreement that, actually the CFL in the NFL have that you can't poach a player, drain their season.
Um, now maybe now the NFL has to approach these little leagues and say, Listen, we may have to poach, but we'll make it worth your while because we'll use the exit foul, the CFL, all these little leagues and say, You know what, guys? CFL change the rules a little bit.
Be more like the NFL uh, XFL.
You know, it's fine, But if you could kick field goals, maybe you know whatever you know, help adopt little bit will be your feet early.
We're going to send You guys are proud because a lot of the practice squad is better than the XFL players.
You know what I mean and we'll send you some better talent, which will be better competition for you.
And at the end of the day, being a guy who has a professional football team in the city of Toronto here down the road, I used to be a season ticket holder.
I can tell you flat out, it's not good football when you compare it to the NFL here in Canada, and a lot of people don't like it.
Most NFL fans in Canada, which is more than CFL fans, don't like the CFL because the competition is so it's slower.
You mean it's not the top talent.
Start sending a little bit of higher talent.
You know, these leaves off prosper, and now the NFL has a feeder league.
Just just a take and go, and you could split it like Toronto could be.
The feeder team could be the B team for the A F C East.
You what? I mean, so you don't have to have 32 feet or teams and NFL Europe's got a nice league out there, man.
The culture grabbed up a couple guys from out that in that league that looks really good.
Now is an honor. They reopen it.
I think I thought they were talking about reopening.
They might be well, Adam.
Military was NFL Europe right before he came to the NFL.
Do you guys think like this Thought went through my mind cause I saw Aaron ask about Trevor Lawrence to the pets.
Do us think you'll see teams.
Maybe I don't know if they want a tank, but maybe, you know, lose a few more games because there's a little uncer*****y, especially if you need a quarterback.
I mean, cause as far as I know, I think the top two quarterbacks are Trevor Lawrence.
And what JT buried, probably.
So it's, you know, I I oh, it's tough both ways.
If you watch Trevor Lawrence last season, he regressed a little bit. Not bad.
Not to regress more because he just lost his number one receiver for this upcoming.
That would have been up this upcoming season.
Yeah, and I mean T Higgins is gone.
So you saw a regression out of eso.
This might actually help the kids like Trevor Lawrence, who could have went from the first overall to 1/5.
That's why I never crowned people two years before.
Don't forget to Was the first overall this season until this until this season, right? Yeah. Yeah.
Um, so I never really kind of put that into consideration that way, but so I think it'll be a tough go.
Because would you trust Trevor Lawrence, who you saw a bit of regression out of, and you don't get to see him play another season, you know? And when you think about teams to need a quarterback, which we kind of established other day isn't that many races? Probably one of the deepest, you know, NFL quarterbacks.
I mean, how quick.
Like I could talk New England.
They like Jared Stadium.
How? How fast did they want to give up on him? You know what I mean? And it may be too late to tank by the time Balletic realizes this isn't gonna work, because you got to let the kid have his rookie mistakes.
You mean you're not gonna know Week one and Patriot fans you're not gonna know week one? Even if he scores one touchdown when they lose 100 to 7, you're not gonna know Week one.
Whether he's going to be a good quarterback or not, and I'm just afraid.
So, like, I'm trying to think of which team the Raiders obviously would be a team that could benefit.
But I think they're too good for Trevor Lawrence.
They're not gonna be that bad.
There's a teams that just got there.
Ah, franchise quarterback, supposedly for the next 15 20 years.
That may not be trying to tank, but just my end up having the worst, uh, record in the NFL anyhow, I mean, the Bengals might be the worst team in the NFL.
Still, the interest even well, they would have to trade out.
Yeah, I definitely have to trade out.
And then that right there would put Trevor Lords on the market, basically for any team.
Okay, let me ask you if you have, if you're the Bangles and you have the opportunity, the problem is is we're going to see Joe Borough, cause it's gonna be an unfair comparison.
But like, right now, without seeing job role play in the NFL, if I said to you guys hate NFL is canceled this year, the Bangles are gonna get the first overall pick again because Goodell's that you know and ask that way.
And they now have the opportunity for Trevor Lawrence, who, from a consistency standpoint, has been more consistent but didn't have the season that Joe Borough had.
What do they do? Do they trade out? Or do they take Lawrence and Trade Bro? Huh? It's tough, right? I would I would take Lord.
And this isn't even me saying he's gonna be a bust.
This is us not seen him in the NFL.
But see, I don't think the Bengals are going to be a bad team.
That's That's where we differ.
No, I said, Let's pretend enough.
Let's pretend the seasons cancel because of cold with this.
Okay, Okay, Good.
I mean, in the NFL, just they probably won't do this, but the NFL says we're just going to the same draft orders the year before.
I actually I could see them doing that.
I actually could see them do that.
Let's get some parity.
And you know what I mean? Oh, yeah.
And now you've got Now you've got the Bangles getting another first overall pick.
And now you got to decide.
Do I take Trevor Lawrence? Do I take Barrett.
Do I keep Joe Borough? Do I go defensive from the Bangles? I'm probably looking for, you know, a chase young type of player.
But did anybody really think I mean, I don't the end we thought, but did we really think Oh, they're gonna get Kyler Murray and get rid of Josh Rosen a year later? You what? I mean, like, a part of me didn't believe they were gonna do it like you don't trade away the 10th overall pick.
But the problem there was that they literally fired the coach after one season, you know? So they k So Cliff Kingsbury came in and he took his guy.
He wanted collar Murray from the jump.
He's been saying it even before he was the head coach.
He he actually said that if he had the number one pick in that draft, this was before he was hired as the Cardinals coach, that he would take Kyler Murray number one overall.
So he was put into that position and he did it.
Now that's for borough.
I mean, that's that's a ridiculous scenario, but let me throw out another ridiculous scenario, right? That may be even more ridiculous, as I tend to do if OK, get ready for this one.
Are you guys ready? Eyes.
Everybody sitting down.
All right already.
If the Jets are in the top five again, I think they should trade up for a quarterback.
1000% if you can get Trevor Lawrence.
If we play this season and they're a top five, it's time to give up on Sam. Donald.
Thank you, Lawrence. Agree? I agree. Okay.
Well, thank you.
Give up on this head coach, but, Well, yeah, of course.
Because I know a lot of people are super high on Sam Darnel, and I just I'm sorry.
I don't get it either.
I just He just I don't understand it either.
When I watch him, it's that whole division from a quarterback standpoint, you got Jared Stadium who's an unknown to all who I'm gonna call an unknown because we never know how guys are gonna translate to the NFL.
You got Josh Allen.
Where if he could just get his head on, right? Could be a great quarterback, but he's never showed that consistency of normality and then and then you got Ah, Sam Darnel.
Teoh, to me, is the most overrated quarterback in that division.
They don't just have him is one of the best court, the Basque or back Dave.
They have him is one of the best quarterbacks in the A F C in the A f C.
And I'm sitting there going like, I think it's Patrick actually played better.
And he did last year.
There's times 1/4 you know, like, how is he one of the best? He's not talking about your division.
And that's not including, You know, Brady.
Brady is not in your division no more, but your quarterback now.
But I do think I do think Donald could succeed in a better situation.
Well, Adam gazes ruined him.
Yeah, no, quarterback Adam Gates was terrible from the jump.
Let's be honest.
As soon as you saw him going with this crazy eyes, you should have said okay, never mind.
Just don't even signed the contract, you know, get out of here.
I mean, Donald, I don't think he's great, but and it doesn't help when you have a less than you know, average quarterback.
Bed by bed too loudly.
Oh, how about that? Where we go? I did it.
How about this? No.
Okay, So, um see, I lost my train of thought, but yeah, when you have a less than average quarterback like Sam Donald and then you have a terrible often surrounding that quarterback, it's not gonna be a good recipe.
And that's what we've seen in New York.
And then you have Adam Gates, who's an awful coach, and it's just been a bad makes all together.
Yeah. I mean, again, Lee again.
I don't understand the Sam Darnel love that comes out of people.
It's the same blood that came from Mark Sanchez that people had, and I didn't get it either.
But I'm looking at the league now that okay is one of the best in the Okay.
I've heard this time and time again.
Not just from Jets fans, but other people.
Sam Donald, one of the best quarterbacks in the A F C.
You got Patrick Mahomes.
You got Lamar Jackson, Baker, Mayfield to Sean Watson.
Philip Rivers, Ben Rockies.
Ben Roethlisberger is better than him.
Now you've got Joe Borough, who's probably going to be better than him.
Um, so that's one.
That's two divisions, you know.
Antenna Hill continues to play as well as he did in the last season.
You could put him over.
Ryan Tannehill Fitzpatrick played better than him last season.
I think Drew locks a better quarterback in him.
He's like their car.
He really is, like, go back to our screaming match, You know, he's like he's Derek Carr there, and Dare card could be better.
But one thing I mean, the Jets right now is kind of in a very similar situation as the Lions was, right.
I mean, they don't they don't put talent around talent.
So I mean, they tried and what they went got left Bell to go with him.
You can't run the football, protect your quarterback without an offensive line.
So now see, if you put Donald on the Raiders now, that's an offense right there, you know? Do you think it is? I think so.
With that offense car.
Well, okay, so now we're going into that argument, are we? I think Yeah, well, he has that more mobility than car for sure he may not have the arm talent.
I think he has some arm talent, but I think with his mobility it could, you know, avoid pressure in here and there.
But it's a good offensive line.
Good running game, good receivers.
I'll admit that I would take Sam Donald over Derek Carr, Marcus Mariota.
That's where I'll put it.
But what? I'm starting to think about the other quarterbacks, and I'm just sticking with the A f c.
There's I wouldn't replace them with state him because I don't know what stadium is.
I wouldn't put him in Miami because I think him and Fitzpatrick do the same thing as we wait for to, uh, I wouldn't take him over Josh Allen right now.
Um, obviously the whole island feelings.
Yeah, the entire A F C North.
He's not gonna fit. I recorded back.
There is better.
Um, we think burrow right, But all the other three, um, you get to the South Jacksonville.
Maybe he could compete with Gardner Minshew.
I probably take Sandar.
I Look, I don't hate Gardner Minshew.
I just think he's just is inconsistent.
Is Donald so it's a kind of a coin flip there.
Um, I might take him on the cold.
I might take him in Tennessee as a flyer.
I might take him in Tennessee.
I'd like among the Colts I would really like among the Colts.
I would take him up over rivers.
Yes, hell, yeah, I would.
I'm not a big rivers ven long, I think.
I think long term, I think Donald poses mawr of, ah, long term solution, but it would still be a flyer.
Long term is one thing.
I'm talking this season.
Well, I mean, you don't know. I don't know.
I don't know because I haven't seen Donald Bind.
Ah, really good offensive line with protection.
So I don't know what what he could do if he's got time to throw the football.
Hey, exactly the same could be said for Philip Rivers in theory right now.
Yeah, but you know that river think gonna last another 23 years, Max.
Whereas Donald Donald still pretty fresh, so Yeah, well, we've seen me.
I've seen Philip Rivers play behind an offensive line and know what he can do now is the old Philip Rivers.
Maybe maybe the Colts have exactly what he was last year, and it's a big disappointment.
Maybe Jacoby's and gets a shot earlier.
Maybe Jacoby percents back in their leading the offense.
Who knows what I mean? Um, we don't know.
But I think that if I take from what I know about Rivers two years ago, when they made the playoffs and you know, basically didn't win the division because they have Kansas City, E would have taken that Rivers over Sam Donald, you know, for a one season, I'm not talking long term.
But for a one season, one would think there's My whole point is for one season right now.
There's not a lot of teams.
I would take him over again, I think.
Tennessee, I've put a come over Tannehill.
I think he could maybe doom or there, Um, I would take him, and obviously, in Las Vegas, I don't want to give up on Drew lock this season.
I want to see if you can, you know, continue what he did the other last year.
You know, maybe J instead of maybe New England behind what? I mean, maybe for one season.
See if Donald can lead a Patriots offense.
Yeah, there's not a lot of teams, though, right where you think you know to be one of the best, because I think if we did this with Baker, we replace a lot of players.
You know, it's that's so how can you be one of the best if you can't replace? If you're not willing to replace him with a whole bunch of guy Diego on our entire ideo immutable, let's not say that.
Let's let's calm down a little bit.
I definitely like him is a better option than Herbert.
I would I might even throw him above Tyra.
As much as I love what I think I might like, I don't think he's mobile enough for the Chargers.
Their offensive line isn't that fixed.
You need a Tyrod Taylor or a Cam Newton type of quarterback in Alley this year.
That's just my opinion.
Yeah, I mean, he'll see.
Yes, you will see goes Oh, my God, that was like That's his most legendary moment in his career.
Never gonna go away.
It's just like, um, Earl Thomas is.
They didn't look that they want to tackle him one moment, but it is never going to go away.
Yeah, it's one of those, man.
Well, boys, we we took a topic that I didn't know we could.
I didn't know if we could wring it out, but we did it.
Do we go the eight? Or do we give everybody an early nights? Let's let's just do the postgame right here.
Because we're, you know, we're gonna be separated once you pull s press and streamers.
And for me, it says only 27 minutes.
So I guess the way it works is that it's only when I'm in here.
Yeah, because you have.
So you're gonna have to streams on your channel now, right? I got I got 50 minutes.
So you and I got 53 cause I was first and I messed up and joined with wrong profile.
Did you? Did you're in trouble.
You screwed the pooch.
Um, well, did your headphones working to get that'll fix now? Yeah, I guess.
Um, for some reason, I can't connect him to my actual mike for some reason.
Which is why I can't hear myself speak.
I can hear you guys, though, so I couldn't tell that I was being too loud It was just that one moment also, I was What? I get close.
Yeah, when I get pulled the mic.
And it was like, you know, when the headphones starts crackling Yeah, like I have bows. They don't crackle.
And you need my balls crack.
You got a little bit.
What? When I get when I get serious, I want to get close to the mic so you can really hear every single can we let Can we take a? We got six minutes.
Let's talk this six minutes. Here.
Let's break. Let's make Nick happy.
Let's do it. Nick is our boss. Everybody.
Who won the trade? The Buffalo Bills or the Minnesota Vikings? Large will start with you.
You need Minnesota.
Want it easily, Easily Because the farm digs.
He's quick, but, I mean, he's got issues.
First off with what they got in return, that was outstanding.
You know, the trade that they got that the amount that they got that out. Stand now.
Don't get me wrong.
I think Buffalo got a guy that they needed.
Okay, But I think that in the end, Minnesota is getting mawr out of this trade than what buffaloes getting.
Because Minnesota is gonna What did they ended up drafting with those with those picks? Yeah, that's what I was trying to look at.
I don't know who they took with them.
So they got a first of fifth a six for 2020 and And for next year? Yep.
So I mean, they got ah, whole basket full of people do for Diggs.
Who who who was being a locker room issue in the first place, right? Great.
He was not playing well with others at the time, Especially with the head coach.
So yeah, uh, basically what happened was they were in a very similar situation to, um, toe what Bill Bryant and the Texans was having on Lee.
They had ah ah, player that wasn't near the caliber and got five times Maurin the return.
So, yeah, I got to give that a minute.
Well, they basically drafted a replacement in Justin Jefferson.
You know, I think he should be able to slide right into that role.
I'll just That's right.
They did get That's not pick.
They got from the building on and Then they got three other picks to go with it.
Three mid rounders.
Yeah, yeah, I I agree.
I do think the Vikings one, but it's it's for a different reason.
It's that I don't know if Stefon Diggs is the type of receiver that would really help out Josh Allen.
To be honest, um, he's going to get open.
But as we've seen, Josh Allen has a little problem with overthrowing, right, So I just fear that that's gonna be an issue.
I fear that Stefon Diggs might have a little bit of a blow up, just like you did with Kirk Cousins.
If Do we agree? Kirk Cousins is a better quarterback than Josh Allen right now, right now, right now.
Okay, so just imagine the frustration that Stefon Diggs is gonna, And let's not forget that the other receivers are very tiny, you know, they're about six feet and under its Stefon Diggs is in a large man either.
I think Josh Allen needed more of that position style receipt receiver.
That's what I would have said.
But you know what? Those guys that can jump up kind of like an Alshon Jeffery type that even if you kind of throw it high.
He's still gonna jump up for it.
You got the ops? Um, yeah, I did not like that.
Trade it all for the Bills.
I gotta be honest.
So I like the trade for the bills.
And I'll tell you why.
Number one I think they were looking at it thinking with the 22nd overall pick, we're in a win now. Situation.
They got a lot of young rookies or on their fourth years of their deals, are going to a lot of money.
They got Cole Beasley.
They feel like they got one of the top five defense.
They feel like they were a player away from being a legitimate Super Bowl contender, and they knew there was a guarantee for stuff. Index.
Here's why I like it.
So you gave up your first because there's no guarantee you're going to get a Stefon Diggs with your first pick.
There's no guarantee CD lamb or any of those guys or rugs are going to come out and be successful in the NFL.
Um, asked the Patriot fans.
Were they thinking to kill Harry? You mean the first the first receiver taken in the draft.
Every other pick they gave up, I don't think was theirs.
They still ended up with.
I think the fifth was a ah Browns pick that they had taken.
These still ended up with a second round pick, 1/3 round of fourth round of fifth round 26 and the seventh.
So the really the only significant piece they gave up that they couldn't drop back? They dropped it in every round.
But the first, um, not on camera what they did on draft day.
They did trade or anything, but that was their predraft set that they were drafted in every round, but the first because it trades because they still had Ah, six round from the Tyler watch trade.
They had Ah, they had the Ravens trade that the Ravens six round pick that they got from the Patriots for when they took on when they they traded Bodine.
And I think that six came is a part of the alumina, or trade.
So, um, I think they wanted because they're in a situation where they needed somebody now who could impact the team.
But what? I mean, when it I think it's a win win for both teams.
Minnesota got rid of a headache and they didn't want a gear.
They didn't want to trade him.
He just demanded a trade for the last time when they finally said, Okay, it's time to go.
They got rid of a headache.
They got a boatload of picks back.
The Bills really only gave up one of their only picks, which was there first.
Everything else world acquired by trade.
And now they've got a premier receiver to go along with another premier receiver.
I mean, Beazley's a good receiver that I think it's for gotten since he's went to Buffalo.
He had almost 1000 yards and receiving last year.
Well, let's not forget John Brown this well.
And then you got drawn Brown.
So you gotta have a three premier receivers with the top five defense with.
I love Singletary with a great running back and all you need.
I mean, let's face it.
The pressure on Josh Allen to perform this year is huge, exactly huge.
But if he does, let's pretend he does.
How good is our Buffalo team gonna be? You know that I just want to say, I didn't say that Buffalo like, failed the trade, you know? I don't know. I know.
I think, you know, I don't think they failed the trade.
I just think that Minnesota ended up on the better end of the deal as in like, they got better on the trade.
Then what? Buffalo got better on the like, and I think that was a team.
When we talk about when winning trades and losing trades, I mean, yeah, I could say Buffalo, you could say Minnesota, Minnesota wins the Super Bowl this year.
You're right of Buffalo into Super Bowl this year.
There is nothing.
You could argue with me to tell me that Minnesota was better.
You know? I mean, stuff and digs was the piece to get into the Super Bowl, because at the end of the day, I don't care how many first round draft picks you have.
If you're not winning the Super Bowl, it doesn't matter, Right? So now this may be something we revisited the end of the year and just be like, really.
But they both lost their both first round knockouts, and ah Stefon Diggs did nothing and whoever they replaced the month in the draft did not them, so they both lost trade.
So it's, you know, it's one of those those things, and I think that, um, you know, it's tough.
I don't like comparing.
Ah, who won the tree when it comes to draft picks the players because a draft pick is always a crapshoot.
I don't mind comparing if we went player for player.
You mean like I'm minutes trade you, which we don't see in the NFL very often? Building.
